Customer Feedback

The group thoroughly enjoyed this tour and were blown away by the first hand experiences of the troubles and really seeing this in real life! If you are looking for something to do as a tourist or group this is well recommend. Great communication and very helpful when organising.

Joe is incredible. His firsthand account of his life in Belfast, coupled with his vast knowledge of everything during the troubles made this a second to none experience. If I had done nothing else, I would have wanted to make sure we did this tour. An incredible guide and an even better man.

Absolutely brilliant. Went with my wife and 13 year old son and we found it fascinating. Both my wife and I know a fair bit about the Troubles but Joe, our guide, brought it all to life with insight and anecdotes. He pulled no punches in telling us the raw reality of it all but always with humor and optimism. His knowledge and insight was incredible and we came away absolutely enthralled. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Highly recommended! Our guide Padraig was very friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a must do if you are visiting Belfast. 10/10

Joe was an amazing guide. He provides a fantastic mix of history, personal experiences, and levity to give a full picture of Belfast’s past and future.

  • connyp561 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fantastic day-trip with Gerard M. from our cruise ship. Gerard M. gave us a spectacular private tour of the Giants Causeway, Game of Thrones sites, and Belfast history. We booked this trip as an excursion from our cruise ship in Belfast, and we were not disappointed! You can't go wrong with Gerard, who has lived through the Troubles, was involved with the filming of Game of Thrones, and knows the history and culture of his beloved country forward and backward. We especially enjoyed his insights into the filming of the Game of Thrones, as he was on-site as a driver for at least a year of filming, and has photos of that time that totally enriched our experience. The Giants Causeway is also spectacular to see and walk through. Gerald advised us to eat lunch at the restaurant on-site, and that was a great recommendation. All-in-all, this was a perfect day with a wonderful driver in a beautiful and complicated country. I highly recommend it! Read more Written May 6, 2024

  • jameslF5133JS 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles If you do one thing, it MUST be this. We knew this might not be the most pleasant of experiences but it is indeed a must for anyone who is visiting Belfast, as the Troubles are so embedded within the city's history. Brendan picked us up on time at the hotel and welcomed us warmly. We knew we were in good hands from the start. The black cab was typical but very comfortable for the 2hr tour. Brendan's knowledge was impressive and he caught us unawares as to just how fascinating and brutal this part of Ireland's recent history was, having never been part of anything so raw and visceral in our lives. It isn't for the faint hearted but it was balanced and a true eye-opener. If there's one thing you MUST do in Belfast, it's this. And we cannot recommend Brendan enough. We will always remember this tour fondly, despite the subject matter, and will endeavour to seek Brendan next time we visit. Many thanks from James & Dawn from Edinburgh. We found this tour very interesting and informative, the range of ages were 30 to 60 so some of our group remember hearing about it in the news when they were growing up. We all agreed we had learnt so much more than we thought we already knew. Jim was great, very informative and gave both points of view, remaining unbiased. An excellent tour and a must if you are visiting Belfast. Jim also gave us tips on where to go for food and drink. Thanks Jim! Read more Written April 27, 2024

  • MAP1216 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles The original and the best black taxi tours “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” This is the reason I bring all my visitors to Ireland on this tour! While the modern story of Belfast is so positive, which bodes well for the future, the history of The Troubles must be learned and remembered to avoid recurrence. Ger and the team are the original and the best black taxi tour guides. They lived to tell about the experiences of their own families and communities, so the tour is both historical and personal. They give you the truth of The Troubles, ‘warts and all.’ I have been bringing visitors for 12+ years and all have been blown away by what they’ve seen and learned. And I learn something new every single time. I highly recommend this political tour if you really want to know about the difficulties of the past, the progress of the present and hope for the future. • shelleymJ4025UR 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Exceptional BlackTaxiTours. This tour was exceptional. Gave us in-depth information on the historical and current political situation in Belfast. So much different than what the world news would have us believe. Not a religious battle at all but a battle for Irish independence. On the ground explanations of the various murals and the situations that had occurred in the different areas was much appreciated. Brendan, our driver, had lived through these eras and had much first hand knowledge of these situations. Even so, he was balanced in his views and talked about the process that had lead to this moment in time. Booking through the hotel was less expensive than online quotes. Brendan picked us up from our hotel, brought us down the Falls and Shankill road and many other local, fascinating spots along the way. He was a very honest, friendly and insightful guide, who made us feel very at home and kept us interested throughout the journey. Can’t thank Brendan enough for what felt like a journey through time and through the troubles. Highly recommend this guy and this tour 🙌🏼 Read more Written April 4, 2024
