Jonas Brothers Fans Are Making ‘Friendship Purity Rings’ for the Band’s Tour

Say goodbye to friendship bracelets! Jonas Brothers fans are setting a new trend for the group's Five Albums One Night Tour: friendship purity rings.

The tongue-in-cheek beaded rings are a reference to the brothers' infamous purity rings, which they wore during their Disney Channel days.

A viral TikTok video shows one fan unveiling her ring designs for the concert, including the brothers' names, "hot" and "cold" in reference to the band's hit song "Burnin' Up" and "SOS" after their other early classic off their self-titled sophomore album.

"I'm crying laughing this is amazing," one fan commented on the video.

"Now THIS is innovation," another fan joked.

"Wasn’t planning on going to a JB concert but now I feel I have to just to make these," someone else wrote.

In another TikTok video, a fan showed herself making friendship purity rings to trade with other fans at the concert.

Notably, Taylor Swift fans made it a trend to trade friendship bracelets with each other, including celebrity fans, during Swift's Eras Tour.

The Jonas Brothers famously wore purity rings to signal their commitment to maintaining their virginity during the early days of their career. Each brother ditched their respective ring quietly after a few years.

In May, Nick opened up about the rings during an episode of  Watch What Happens Live . "Well, in theory, they're not a bad idea. But you should know what you're signing up for before you sign up for that," Nick said.

"When you're 12 versus when you're, like 16, it's a very big difference," Joe added.

The JoBros also spoke out about the rings during their appearance on  Carpool Karaoke with James Corden in 2019.

According to Insider , Joe said that they were never planning to "talk about it," until an interviewer joked about writing that the brothers were in a cult if they didn't elaborate on the rings.

They explained that they began wearing the rings at age 12 because they grew up going to church and their dad was a pastor.

"That's what people ran with forever. That was a running joke. And we found the humor in it sometimes, but of course, we just kind of decided at one point, like, look, this is not who we are," Joe shared.

The Jonas Brothers’ The Tour is underway after back-to-back sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium followed by two nights at TD Garden in Boston. And while they’re only four shows into a massive stadium run that will stretch into June 2024 , those four shows have been plenty eventful.

Jimmy Fallon made a surprise appearance at Yankee Stadium, and Nick Jonas stumbled into a hole in the stage during the first Boston show, which doubled as a 34th birthday party for Joe Jonas on Tuesday, August 15. Joe’s wife, Sophie Turner , didn’t need his birthday as an excuse to celebrate him. The Game Of Thrones actress posted an Instagram carousel after last weekend’s successful Yankee Stadium stint.

The first photo is traditionally adorable, as Turner kisses Joe’s hand as they walk backstage, but the second photo shows Turner’s wry humor . Swifties will immediately clock Turner’s reference to the friendship bracelet fad associated with Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour . They will also notice that one of Turner’s bracelets seemed to spell out, “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” a “From The Vault” song from 2021’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) that is widely believed to be about Joe; Swift briefly dated Joe in 2008.

When Fearless (Taylor’s Version) released in April 2021, Turner posted about “Mr. Perfectly Fine” on her Instagram Story, writing, “It’s not NOT a bop @taylorswift.” Swift reposted with the note, “forever bending the knee for the [crown emoji] of the north.”

Joe touched on his relationship with Swift while appearing alongside Nick and Kevin for a May episode of the Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard podcast .

“I’m cool with Taylor. We’re cool,” he said, later noting, “I hope to think [Swifties] like me. … No one f*cks with the Swifties, you know?”

Joe can rest easy knowing at least one Swiftie likes him. He married Turner in 2019. They share Willa, 3, and another one-year-old daughter.

Sophie Turner has always taken any chance she could to playfully troll her husband Joe Jonas , so of course, she had to take things to the next level when she attended the opening weekend of his Jonas Brothers tour. To really rub some salt in the wound, Turner unleashed her inner Taylor Swift fan and wore a “Mr. Perfectly Fine” friendship bracelet to the concert — you know, the song all about how Jonas and Swift’s messy breakup.

Thanks to their omnipresence at Swift’s Eras Tour , friendship bracelets have also quickly taken over the Jonas Brothers’ The Tour , with superfans trading tons of handmade pieces with that spell out important JoBro phrases. Naturally, Joe’s wife received a treasure trove of bracelets when she showed up to the tour’s first show at Yankee Stadium in New York City on Aug. 12. She showed off her haul in an Instagram post a few days later , and one bracelet in particular stood out among the rest.

A fan that gave Turner her bracelet confirmed that she was indeed wearing a “Mr. Perfectly Fine” bracelet at the event.

In case you didn’t know, “Mr. Perfectly Fine” is one of Swift’s most brutal diss tracks about Jonas, detailing the “casually cruel” way that he dumped her back in 2008. As Swift herself infamously revealed, Jonas ended their relationship in a 25-second phone call all of the sudden. “Mr. Perfectly Fine” didn’t see the light of day for 13 years, before Swift finally released it in 2021 as a vault track on her Fearless (Taylor’s Version) re-release .

Despite Swift being Jonas’ ex, Turner has always been a huge fan of the singer . In fact, she even showed her love for “Mr. Perfectly Fine” when it was first released. “It’s not NOT a bop,” Turner wrote on Instagram at the time , prompting Swift to respond to the post with some praise of her own: “Forever bending the knee for the [queen] of the north .”

Clearly, Turner is perfectly fine with trolling her husband in any way possible, especially when it comes to going full Swiftie mode.

Sophie Turner 's reign as a supreme troll of her husband Joe Jonas continues.

The Game of Thrones star stepped out recently in support of her husband at the first stop on the Jonas Brothers' The Tour at Yankee Stadium in New York donning a curious accessory — a friendship bracelet that spells out "Mr. Perfectly Fine"... which is a Taylor Swift track that is widely believed to be about the singer's breakup with Jonas in 2008.

For the uninitiated, Swifties attending Swift's Eras Tour in recent months have brought self-made friendship bracelets that spell out various lyrics or song titles or references to the singer, in homage to her Midnights track "You're On Your Own, Kid," which features a lyric about making such bracelets. Fans swap them at the concert with other attendees, and have even been seen giving them to celebrities in attendance. The phenomenon has apparently caught on elsewhere, with fans doing the same thing at the Jonas Brothers' concert. Turner shared a photo on her Instagram of the haul she received at the event, which includes the hilarious reference to Swift's track.

It's not the first time Turner has playfully teased her husband about the song. When it was first released as part of Swift's re-recorded album Fearless (Taylor's Version) in 2021, Turner shared a clip of the song on her Instagram Stories and tagged Swift. "It's not NOT a bop," she captioned the snap. Swift later shared Turner's post on her own stories, writing back, "Forever bending the knee to the 👑 of the north."

Swift herself has poked fun about the speculation surrounding the track, which slams a former lover who moved on quickly with lyrics such as "Hello Mr. 'Perfectly fine' / How's your heart after breaking mine?" and "Hello Mr. 'Casually cruel' / Mr. 'Everything revolves around you.'"

In announcing the release of the track, which was one of six previously unheard "from the vault" songs that appeared on her re-recorded album , Swift seemed to cheekily hint at the coming speculation. "Me in 2020: life is chill, writing songs based in fiction to avoid drama, feeling pretty grown up. My 2008 music from the vault, in a goblin voice: 'REELEEEEEEASE MR PERFECTLY FIIIIIIINE,'" the pop star tweeted after the song's release.

Joe Jonas has announced his sophomore solo album “Music for People Who Believe in Love,” releasing October 18 via Republic Records.

The singer, who cut his teeth as one-third of Jonas Brothers and struck success with his side band DNCE, will release the album’s first single “Work It Out” this Friday. He’s been teasing the song over the last month, sharing snippets during podcast appearances and performing it live during Jonas Brothers’ Calgary Stampede show this past weekend.

The 34-year-old released his debut solo album “Fastlife” in October 2011. The project debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 before sliding off the tally, and its lead single “See No More” peaked at No. 92 on the Hot 100.

Outside of Jonas Brothers, he formed DNCE in 2015, releasing two EPs and an eponymous album. The latter, released in 2016, debuted at No. 17 on the Hot 100 and spawned the hit “Cake by the Ocean,” which hit No. 9 on the Hot 100.

Most recently, he teamed back up with brothers Nick and Kevin for Jonas Brothers’ “The Album,” which dropped last year.

It’s okay to cry and mourn a loss – it’s part of the process to take care of ourselves and eventually enables us to be there for the people we care about.

A director I once worked with had a handwritten note above his camera during filming that asked, “What do you want them to feel?”. This question still resonates with me every time I step on stage or create new music. The ability to perform, connect deeply with an audience, and evoke positive emotions, or even healing, is a gift I cherish.
