flight cancellation due to Covid

I had a flight cancellation due to Covid and booked through Lol Travel. Emirates cancelled but Lol Travel offered a travel voucher instead of a refund. I've emailed numerous times over the last two years with an automated response with a ticket number, but that's it! The voucher expired last week and no assistance offered. I suspect that they had no intention of helping.

We had booked a room in playa del…

We had booked a room in playa del carmen for march 1 2023 and when we arrived at the hotel, they said we had no bookings with them even though we had prepaid LOL and we had the reservation number and the hotel voucher but they had no information on us and would not honour the voucher so we had to leave and find a room 2:30 am when most hotels were closed. **Update** After speaking with an agent, we did receive a full refund for our accommodations. Due to this we have now given 3 stars.***

Avoid this site at all cost

We use kayak which is the main host for travel bargains hunting. We were directed to loltravel and bought 4 tickets to osaka. To our horror, the reference PNR is not able to check in. We have to make a trip to the airport to do a manual check in a day before the travel. The pnone number provided only get a computer response and always busy with no one available to answer any query thus wasted our overseas call. Wrote an email and worse, replied was in some funny language that we don’t understand. Our opinion is avoid this site at all costs

Very disappointed

Very disappointed! I tried to cancel a hotel reservation during the cancellation period by putting in the PNR#. That number never worked on their site after many tries. I informed them of what happened and requested a refund back in October 2022. Several months have gone by with no refund. Stay away! They're not worth the headache.

Scam on the rate used for booking ?

I just booked an hotel for 2 weeks with zenhotels. At the end of the booking process, I received a voucher with the terms and conditions with this hotel. It mentioned that the rate is applicable only for honeymooners, otherwise I will have to pay the full rate. During the reservation process, no information has been displayed on this condition. It's a scam

Avoid this website. NEVER process large transactions as it may result into glitching. I booked a ticket from Malta to Shanghai and it costs FORTUNES. The payment didn’t process and I had to contact my bank to stop the card. In my opinion, it’s a scam

Stay away - fake prices

I had an extremely frustrating experience with lol.Travel. Their website initially showed me the cheapest price for a flight, but as soon as I began the payment process, the price suddenly increased. This happened not just once, but twice! The first time I thought it might be a fluke, so I tried booking the same flight again using incognito mode, and the same thing happened. It’s clear that this is not a glitch in their system but a deliberate tactic to mislead customers and drive up their revenue. What makes it worse is that lol.Travel's response to numerous similar complaints is to claim that the price change is not their fault. This excuse is simply not credible given my repeated experiences. It's disappointing that a travel service would engage in such deceptive practices. I won't be using lol.Travel again, and I would advise others to be wary of their misleading pricing. Look elsewhere for a more transparent and reliable booking experience. Response to the lol.Travel comment: Thank you for your response, but I must reiterate that the price change happened twice at the exact same point and by the exact same amount. This was not a random fluctuation but a clear pattern that suggests a deliberate tactic rather than an issue with the supplier. Be careful! Lol can‘t afford to refund high amount orders!

I booked Hotels with full refundable rate. Unfortunately after the cancellation within the free cancelable time I still can’t get all my refunds back after almost two weeks. Only one booking with 100 Euro has been refund immediately. Two bookings over 15000 Euro have been blocked. After several emails back and forth, I got always the following answers „already done, please be patient and wait more days“ I will wait for some more days and then ask my credit card directly for „chargeback“. This is a really bad experience with lol.travel. And I want to share with you for not running into trouble with them again!

Refund for lol travel initiated flight cancellation.

Booked a flight and credit card has been charged even though the flight wasn’t confirmed. Ending, lol travel cancelled out our flight and suggested another schedule however we didn’t accept the suggestion since it would require connecting flights from US airports and requires transit visa that we don’t have. Up until now, charged amount hasn’t been refunded so we can’t book for another flight even though it’s really urgent. I don’t know if the company cares about it’s customer but we’re still hoping to get a refund soon. Downside is that, the plane tickets gets an increasing value each day and we can’t do anything about it since the charged amount hasn’t been returned yet. I hope that you’ll be able to read this and take action since it’s really exhausting.

warning take care do not trust this company I made a hotel reservation and paid full amount and after 2 weeks from booking and 10 days before check in they asked me to cancel my booking due to hotel overbooking or assign another hotel, for sure less category than the one I booked. They didn't leave me a choice but to cancel my booking they spoiled my vacation because it was a national holiday and time was very limited to find what I need. they even refused to compensate me for their mistake.

My fellow future customers

My fellow future customers, I recommend lol travel for your future business with them. They are secure and reliable entity for purchasing your flight ticket. On July 4th, I went online hunting cheapest flight tickets for urgent departure on July 5 from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Accra, Ghana, forgetting the risks of buying online from any website. They had the cheapest ticket for €496 and I immediately bought two tickets. After payment, I got the pop-up message saying that your unconfirmed reservation has been forwarded to the flight entity for confirmation, and you will receive feedback within 48 hours. To the above, my security alert woke up, but it was late. Because I needed the tickets urgently. I felt insecure, and making it worse, after few minutes, I got an email alert and when I checked, an email from the named organisation read that my travel reservations was cancelled and I am going to get refund according to the financial institution procedures in keeping with the law. To the above, I felt that I had lost the money paid. I immediately ran to my bank (Postal Italia) and reported with an appeal to block the receiver. After my bank investigation, they confirmed that the lol.travel is a legal entity, and the emails are from them. So, I should await the refund time mentioned in the email I received. My fellow customers, I was not still satisfied due to the urgency of buying another tickets and I can't get the money. To end up, after arriving from my bank, I got my refund in 3 hours within my account. Thanks to the entity, and I am your business partner for life. Bravo to you lol.travel!!!!!!

Flight time change by the airline - Lol.travel tries to charge unlawful fees

I received a flight time change by the airline, which made my connection flight impossible. Lol.travel contacted me offering to re-book my flights on a new connection. However, they keep trying to charge me fees for re-booking my flights, which is unlawful as the airline changed the flight times so an alternative needs to be provided to me free of charge. Issue is still not resolved. Very bad customer experience and unlawful business practices, not recommended at all.

No free cancelation

I called lol to cancel an hotel reservation but this was not free. There was a fee corresponding to the stay amount. It was more than 2 wees before the stay. Other sites (booking, hotels.com, trivago, ...) and the hotel itself would have accepted free cancelation. I won't recommend your site from now on nor re-engage myself with your site.

In your booking's details you can see that your reservation doesn't allow free cancellation and it is noticed the following condition (you can find it on Terms and Conditions of your reservation). Caution! unreliable Booking website

I booked a hotel in Istanbul through lol.travel and fully payed it. However, after more than two weeks, the booking has not yet been confirmed by the hotel! I’ve been contacting lol.travel almost everyday to receive a bare-minimum update on the status. But the only thing I hear is “we’re working on the problem”. I kindly asked them to refund my payment so that I directly book the hotel, but they are not willing to support and would like us to wait forever. My flight is due in a few days and lol.travel is causing us extra stress as we do not have our accommodation confirmed. Absolutely unreliable Not recommended!!!

Check your currency before purchasing!!!

Clicked a link to a promotion which took me to Lol.travel. When I was satisfied with the offer I moved to purchase the ticket. For some reason, and I'm not saying that it was lol.travel's mistake, but the currency changed to euro without any request or clear indication! Needless to say I spent money I didn't have... I immediately e-mailed and requested a cancelation and a refund. Explaining my situation in detail. They then replied asking me to explain the situation in detail.... which I did again. I then later received an email which stated that I should confirm my decision and that I have till 7pm Italian time to do so... This was at 11 pm Italian time. I was very emotional and frustrated by how they could feel justified by giving such a small window which they claimed was 24hours for such a weighted decision. After nagging they agreed to: "We inform you that cancellation of your ticket outbound + inbound, before departure*, is possible with a penalty of € 92.00 for every adult passenger (2) + € 55.00 for our management fees) I know to some people this isn't much but my country that's almost a months rent....

Their website doesn't work

Every time I tried to do my check-in (within the time period they mention) I got a 500 error message. Then I tried to download my proof of payment and then again I got the 500 error message. Whatever I was trying to do I was getting error messages. Then I proceeded to the airport to resolve this in person and they told me that if I can't do an online check-in then I have to pay more money. I explained and I demonstrated the issues with their website and they told me that the company is not responsible for malfunctions of the website!! What the heck!!!! are you kidding me?

I traveled from Canada to Haver Mt

I traveled from Canada to Haver Mt. I booked a room on line with lol.travel. I got a confirmation number and they charged my credit card. I arrived and the Hotel had no booking for me, and they had no rooms available as there was a basketball torment going that weekend. I telephoned the Help line and they said they could not help me. The person on the line did not speak English and they just kept repeating themselves like they were reading from a printed paper. This is a very dishonest company and I am still trying to get my money back.

Fake bookings

I booked a hotel from them. It looked pretty sketchy but I continued with it. To no surprise my booking got cancelled 2 days before I was going to go there. Lucky I got my money back after a long conversation and a 2 month struggle. I would just reccomened spending those extra bucks on Booking.com.

An horrible website and poor customer…

An horrible website and poor customer service. Waste of time and money. We booked with them for a trip to Tunisia on a specific date and after that it turned out that the airline has changed the flight dates and postponed it for 3 days!!! We had a specific occasion and we had to be there on time! We requested the cancellation of tickets and we never received our money back! Their only response that the airline did not respond to their request and they cannot refund us the money until they get a response from the airline! Thank God for Trustpilot

Thank God for Trustpilot. I was about to buy a ticket with lol.travel. I checked the prices the the airlines and couldn't understand the huge price difference. I search my tickets in business class using Kayak.com first and then do my home work. After reading the horror stories from other clients, I decided to stay away from lol. I guess the name says it all.... "lot's of laughter", the consequence of a "joke"

I would like to share my negative experience with the travel agency lol.travel. It was my first time using their services, purchasing tickets with a flexible option and the ability to cancel. Of course, I had to pay extra for this flexibility. However, when the need arose to change the departure date, I was met with unexpected and unfair conditions. I was informed that I needed to pay an additional 55 euros for service fees to make the transfer, and the new ticket price suddenly doubled the original cost. Attempting to cancel the flight also ended in failure. At the time of my inquiry, I had three weeks until the supposed departure date, and despite timely attempts to resolve the issue, I faced refusal. The flight was not canceled, but I never received my money back for the tickets. I can confidently say that my experience with lol.travel left a sour taste. Their actions seem extremely dishonest, and I was left without my money and the ability to use the purchased services. I recommend being cautious when choosing this company, as their practices closely resemble fraudulent behavior.

Too bad there aren’t negative numbers…

I booked a 5 day stay for a suite for my son and I. LOL Travel changed it to a 100 square foot room with one bed for even more ($2400) than the suite costs on other websites ($2145). I tried multiple times to call both numbers listed in their e-mail (their phone is disconnected), message them on their website (can't send a message), call and message the hotel number (invalid number) listed on their invoice to no avail. They listed no e-mail contact anywhere and sent me my reservation via a no-reply e-mail. There is no way to contact them. I am not paying close to $500 a night for 100 square foot room that was supposed to be a suite with a sofa bed and no bed for my son. I'm not getting on plane for 10 hours to find I don't have a reservation and not doing business with a company I can't contact or rely on. No booking confirmation from loltravel

On the 1st of August I did book a two rooms in Sousse city and beach hotel in Tunisia from the 1st of September to the 7th of September I paid lol travel via my credit card in full I have been giving a confirmation email with a reference number but when contacted the hotel I have been told that there is no booking under my name via loltravel I did contact loltravel customer service via email many times from the 16th until today the 23rd but the only answer I did receive is that they are chasing the hotel for confirmation I did book my flight and I can't afford to go to Tunisia without the correct booking confirmation Lol travel did not help at all how comes from the 1st of August the date of my payment they couldn't get me my hotel booking confirmation Many thanks

Overcharged and Poor Service!

I booked a flight through lol.travel and was shown a price of €293.20. But, I was charged €313.73 instead. This overcharge is NOT okay. I did not get any warning of price change. Also checking the price now on their website - it still shows €293.20 (so price for the flight has not been changed). I contacted their customer service with proof, but they have been slow and unhelpful. This mistake and poor service have made me lose trust in lol.travel. If you use lol.travel, double-check all charges. I hope they fix this issue and improve their service.

Not trustable at all

Its has been 14 days for now and they didnt refund my money, the reservation was done th 6th of Feb, they reply that the airlines is not confirming and I have to pay 700 euros more to confirm, and told them not interested and to refund the money, and no money refund until now. I tried other sites booking, they just from beginning doesn't accept the booking on the same flight, and doesn't take your money and then don't refund it. This is not profissional at all, and they are not recommended at all. Be a ware of booking anything with them, they are not serious trustable.

Renew Your Passport Online

Eligible U.S. citizens who are applying for routine service can now renew their passports online. To get started, go to our  Renew Online page . 

This video will help you learn if you can renew your passport by mail.

You can renew by mail if your most recent passport:

  • Can be submitted with your application,
  • Is not damaged (other than normal  wear and tear ),
  • Has never been reported lost or stolen,
  • Was issued within the last 15 years,
  • Was issued when you were age 16 or older, and
  • Was issued in your current name (or you can provide a document like a marriage certificate or divorce decree to show you have changed your name)

If you want to renew a limited validity passport that is valid for less than the normal period of 10 years, you must meet these requirements:

  • One of your previous passports must have been issued for 10 years,
  • Your passport cannot be limited because you’ve lost multiple passports, and
  • Your passport cannot be limited because you’ve had multiple damaged passports

Fill Out Form DS-82 Online

Tips to complete your form:

  • Complete all parts of the form.  Sign and date your form  before you mail it.
  • Print your form on single-sided paper. We do not accept double-sided forms. 
  • Check your date of birth and previous passport issuance date if you did not get the form you expected to receive on the form filler.
  • You can renew a passport book , a passport card , or both documents.
  • Use Form DS-82 to apply for your first passport book if you only have a passport card, or to apply for your first passport card if you only have a passport book.  
  • If you travel many times each year, get a larger passport book with more visa pages, at no extra cost.  Check the 'large book' box at the top of the DS-82.
  • If renewing from Canada, do not include your Canadian Social Insurance Number on the form in place of your U.S. Social Security number. 

Submit your most recent U.S. passport

When you renew by mail or in person, you must submit your most recent passport(s) with your application. We will return your most recent passport book or card in a separate mailing. The most recent passport may not arrive for up to 8 weeks after you get your new passport. Learn below what document to submit based on what you want to renew:

Submit other documents if you are changing your name

If the name you are using is different from the name on your most recent U.S. passport, you must provide a  certified copy of the legal name change  document. Examples include:

  • Marriage certificate
  • Divorce decree
  • Court-ordered name change document

We will return your name change document in a separate mailing from your new passport.

Tips for renewing from Canada :

  • If your Canadian divorce decree does not show that you are returning to your maiden name, you must provide proof of your birth or maiden name. Examples include an original or certified copy of your birth certificate.

You must provide one photo with your application. Go to our  Passport Photo page  for photo requirements and to see examples of photos. You can get a photo at:

  • Some  passport acceptance facilities
  • A company which offers photo services
  • Home. Ask a friend or family member to take your photo. Print it on glossy or matte photo quality paper. 

Other reminders

  • You must staple your photo to the application. Follow the instructions on the application. Use four staples vertically in the corners as close to the outer edges of the photo as possible.
  • Do not bend the photo.

Pay using a personal check or money order and make it payable to the U.S. Department of State. Do not send cash.

  • Add $60 to your application fee if you want  expedited service .
  • Add $21.36 to your application fee if you want us to ship your completed passport in 1-2 days after we issue it.  
  • Go to our  Passport Fees  page to learn more about how much it costs to apply for a passport and how you can pay.
  • Please write the full name and date of birth of the applicant on the front of the check* or money order.
  • Renewing from Canada? Personal checks or money orders must draw on U.S. financial institutions based in the United States and be payable in U.S. dollars. Acceptable U.S. checks and money orders must have a 9-digit routing number. Do not include 1-2 day or express delivery fees with your payment. These services are not available to U.S. residents in Canada.

Get My Passport Fast :  If you are traveling in less than 3 weeks, make an appointment to renew in person at a passport agency or center. Your appointment must be within 14 calendar days of your travel date. 

If you are traveling in more than 3 weeks, mail your completed application and documents to one of the addresses below. 

Where you mail the application depends on where you live, and how fast you need your passport. 

If you live in the  United States ,  use the United States Postal Service (USPS) . If you live in  Canada , use Canada Post. 

Where to Send My Application and Supporting Documents

Want Faster Delivery?

  • Delivering application to us : Pay for Priority Mail Express for faster delivery. The price for this service varies depending on the area of the country.
  • Returning the passport to you : Pay $21.36 for 1-2 day delivery. This means you will receive your passport   1-2 days after we send it. Include this fee with your check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State. Do not submit a return envelope to us with pre-paid postage. 

You may receive your passport and supporting documents in separate mailings.

If you are renewing a passport card, we will send it to you via First Class Mail. We do not use 1-2 day delivery services for passport card only applications.

Outside the United States (any country besides Canada):  Contact your  U.S. embassy and consulate .

You can  subscribe to email updates  about your application status, and  learn more about each status update .

It may take 2 weeks from the day you apply until your application status is “In Process.” 

What is normal "wear and tear" of a passport?

Normal "wear and tear" of a U.S. passport does not count as damage. Normal wear includes:

  • The bend of a passport after you carry it in your pocket
  • Fanning of the visa pages after opening and closing the passport 

If your passport is damaged, you cannot renew it and must apply for a new passport.

Damage includes:

  • Water stains
  • A significant tear
  • Unofficial markings on the data page
  • Missing visa pages (torn out)
  • A hole punch, or other injuries

Can I renew at an acceptance facility?

No. If you are renewing your passport with Form DS-82, acceptance facilities will not take your application. Acceptance facilities should never charge you a $35 fee for renewing your passport. These locations should only charge you a $35 fee if you are applying using Form DS-11.

You must mail in your renewal application (Form DS-82) yourself. Mailing your Form DS-82 can be confusing since some post offices are also passport acceptance facilities. Postal employees should not review your form and supporting documents before you mail it.

Send Form DS-82 and supporting documents using a trackable delivery method.

Do not use UPS, FedEx, or DHL since the address you need to send your Form DS-82 and supporting documents to is a Post Office (PO) Box. 

If I already have a passport book or card, can I use the DS-82 to get the other document?

If you have a passport book  and you are eligible to use Form DS-82, you may apply for a passport card as a renewal by mail even if it is your first  passport card .

Can I send multiple renewal applications in one envelope?

Yes. If your family member or spouse is also renewing a passport, you may want to send multiple applications in the same envelope. You can pay for the applications using one check or money order. Make sure to add up the correct fees for multiple applications. 

How will you send my passport and supporting documents?

You will get multiple mailings. The number of mailings depends on what document(s) you asked for.

Passport Book : You may get your new passport and citizenship documents in two mailings. You may wait 8 weeks after getting your passport before you get a second mailing with your citizenship documents. We will return the passport book using a trackable delivery service.

Passport Card : You may get your new passport card and your citizenship documents in two mailings. You may wait 8 weeks after getting your passport before you get a second mailing with your citizenship documents. We only send the passport card via First Class Mail. We do not send cards using 1-2 day delivery services.

Both a Passport Book and Card : You may get three separate mailings:

  • New passport book
  • New passport card
  • Citizenship documents

Contacting Us : If you have been waiting more than 8 weeks for your documents, call us at  1-877-487-2778  to report that you have not received your documents. 

If you want us to reimburse you for a lost supporting document, you must contact us within 90 days of the date which we mailed your passport. You will also need to provide a receipt to show the cost of replacing the document. 

I got a letter requesting that I resubmit my Form DS-82. What should I do?

When you renew by mail, our intake facility will review your application and supporting documents.

The intake facility will send you a letter if there is a problem with your application. The letter may include a QR code with a link to our website. Common reasons for getting this letter include:

  • No signature or date on your form
  • Bad or missing photo
  • Pages of your form are missing
  • Wrong or missing fees
  • Most recent passport is missing
  • Most recent passport issued over 15 years ago

Follow the instructions in the letter. You must include the letter we sent you when you resubmit the new application. 

When your application is at the intake facility, your application status will show as "Not Available" if you check our Online Passport Status System . Your application will be "In Process" once a passport agency or center begins processing your new application. 

Processing Times

Routine:  6-8 weeks*

Expedited: 2-3 weeks and an extra $60*

*Consider the total time it will take to get a passport when you are booking travel.  Processing times only include the time your application is at a passport agency or center.

  • It may take up to 2 weeks for applications to arrive at a passport agency or center. It may take up to 2 weeks for you to receive a completed passport after we print it.
