The Trilby Tour – the popular amateur series that thrusts ‘everyday players’ under the ‘professional’ spotlight – will return this year with an all-new format that will see women going head to head with their male counterparts.
In what is seen as a major shake-up to one of the game’s most iconic events, the Trilby Tour’s much-anticipated relaunch – under the new ownership of leading golf and leisure business Darwin Escapes – will be broadcast on Sky Sports and played across a series of top-class venues in England and Scotland.
Quality and equality
More attractive prizes, a reduced entry fee and with all competitors decked head to toe in the latest line of Glenmuir clothing with a host of player incentives, the tour’s premium look will set the agenda for a triumphant return.
But undoubtedly, the biggest and most welcoming change comes with the news that women will have the opportunity to showcase their talents on a level playing field with the men as golf continues to thrive in the UK with playing numbers soaring over the last two years.
Golf Monthly columnist and Sky Sports presenter Sarah Stirk – who is also an ambassador for Darwin Escapes – commented: “I'm thrilled to be part of the all-new Trilby Tour for 2022. The game is in really good shape right now, and it’s great to see the Trilby Tour moving forward since Darwin Escapes purchased it last year.
“Not only is it now fully refreshed, with some great new partners, it also has women playing head to head with the men for the coveted title of Trilby Tour Champion. I can't wait to be part of the show.”

New courses - new structure
The three-month schedule, which will begin in June, will see the top 15 players – ten men and five women – from each of the summer’s four Championship events advancing to the Grand Final in September.
The Trilby Tour Championship will commence at The Springs Resort & Golf Club on June 13 before heading to Carus Green on June 27 in Cumbria.
Kilnwick Percy in Yorkshire is next on July 4, with matters then heading north of the border for the final Championship event in Ayrshire at the recently upgraded Dundonald Links on August 14 and then returning to the same venue to wrap things up with the Grand Final on September 19 - where the 2022 Trilby Tour Champion will be crowned.
Not your average golf event…
Created by legendary Saville Row tailor William Hunt in 2007, The Trilby Tour’s unique-selling point came with amateur golfers getting to experience the game as the professionals do, under tournament conditions and with the TV cameras following their every move.
The event quickly grew in numbers and popularity, with the camaraderie of the ‘Trilby Tourians’ and the competition’s fierce competitive format making it one of the biggest competitions on the amateur circuit.
What they said…
Ashley Pheasant, Head of Golf for Darwin Escapes, commented: “We can't wait to get going with the 2022 Trilby Tour. When we set out on this journey, we wanted to make this the best amateur golf tour in the country.
“With the changes we have made, we are providing additional value for competitors and are thrilled to see all our championships return to Sky Sports. It is fitting that we will have both men and women competing for the first time at Dundonald Links, the home of the Trust Golf Women's Scottish Open.”

Mar 06, 2022
The Trilby Tour is gearing up for its long-awaited return with the announcement of its 2022 calendar as the iconic event prepares to debut its revised look under new owners, Darwin Escapes.
The revamped tour, which was brought by Darwin Escapes from Savile Row tailor William Hunt last year, will feature a number of significant changes – most noticeably the addition of female amateurs who will go head-to-head with their male counterparts for the first time.
The changes have been introduced to give the event a more professional tour feel, with a focus on improved TV production for the tour’s return to Sky Sports and clothing supplied by Glenmuir for competitors.
The 2022 Trilby Tour will be played across a series of venues in the Home Counties and the north of England and Scotland, with the best players from each event qualifying for the Grand Final in September at the recently upgraded Dundonald Links, Darwin Escapes’ flagship course, where a field of 60 will tee it up.
The three-month schedule begins on June 13 with the Trilby Tour Championship of Oxfordshire at The Springs Resort & Golf Club , before heading to Carus Green on June 27 for The Trilby Tour Championship of Cumbria. william hunt’s trilby tour
William Hunt is the creator of the Trilby Tour, as well as being a top designer for Savile Row and a true golf aficionado. He came up with an idea of a more competitive amateur tournament in 2007, he wanted to give amateur players, from all walks of life, a chance to compete in Pro conditions, with the pressure of a nationally televised event, plus fans watching your every move. His love of the game pushed him to challenge and redefine the game, creating the ‘winner takes all’ format. The Trilby Tour is the only amateur event that offers a truly professional experience, giving them a platform to get their names out in the golfing world, to literally millions of people, via the Sky Sports broadcasts.

A narrow victory at the springs resort & golf club 2022 trilby tour qualifier.
Graham Bagwell held on to take victory at the 2022 Trilby Tour Qualifier at The Springs Resort & Golf Club by a single point to book himself a spot in next years 2022 Championship.
A 17 handicap golfer from Teign Valley, Graham scored a superb 40 points, for a round of 68 net, on a day that conditions allowed for some super scoring.
One of the earlier starters, Graham played very solid golf on the front 9, scoring 20 points and despite a triple bogey on the back 9, still managed to hold on to the lead.
It wasn’t for lack of trying from the field. After a front 9 of 21 points, Paolo Solano was looking in good shape, but struggled to keep the momentum going through 18 as did Iain Lythall.
Spencer Grant was also looking like he was going to challenge for the win as he arrived at the 17th hole on 37 points. But after hitting the water off the tee and again from his dropped ball, he failed to score and with a bogey on 18 he also came up one short.
Reflecting on his victory, Graham said “I played very steady golf today. I hit it great off the tee all day and putted well and I also holed a couple of long putts when I needed to for some good points. I’ve just come back from Spain and played 4 rounds in 4 days, which I think has definitely helped my game”.
This win gives Graham a place in one of next years Trilby Tour events, where he will be playing for a place in the Grand Final.
Graham continued, “The course was excellent, the condition superb, the greens in particular rolled brilliantly. It’s great to have the Trilby Tour back with the new owners and I can’t wait to hear about the plans for 2022”.

Petrozavodsk
Founded in 1703, Petrozavodsk is an important centre of culture and industry in the North-West of Russia.
Petrozavodsk streets, squares and sights
Let us list some notable places in the historical center of the city.
Lenin Avenue
The main street of the city is Lenin Avenue, until 1918 – Borodinskaya street. The avenue stretches from the railway station to Onega Lake embankment. It contains residential and administrative buildings, restaurants, cafes and shops. • Train Station. Build in 1955 in the style of late neoclassicism, Petrozavodsk vokzal is decorated with columns of the Corinthian order and a 17-meter spire. • Former children's clinic, also known as the “Kareldrev” trust building. The two-story wooden building was constructed in 1935 in the Northern Art Nouveau style. • Pobeda cinema, a Soviet classicism building of 1950. • Trust "Karelles". A wooden building from the late 20s in the Art Nouveau style. • Hotel "Severnaya". Built in 1939 in the spirit of constructivism, it was heavily damaged during the Second World War. Lenin (Round) Square
Constructed in 1775 in the tradition of Russian classicism, buildings on the Round Square are the oldest ones in the city: • “Governor's House”, now the National Museum. At various times, governors and vice-governors of the Olonets province lived and worked there. • Government building, now the Ministry of Culture. Public offices, the district court, and the apartment of the governor general were located here. The bronze lions at the entrance were cast at the Alexander Factory in 1858 in honour of the arrival of Emperor Alexander II. • Lenin monument. Erected in 1933 on the site of the monument to Peter I, the granite statue of the Soviet leader is dressed in a winter coat and holds a winter hat in his hand. • Memorial complex “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the Eternal Flame”. Made of Shoksha red quartzite and gabbro-diabase, opened in 1969.

My second trip to Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelian Republic in the North of Russia, has proved once again my first impression of a very provincial and yet welcoming city. In fact this visit has been one of the most rewarding as far as my job goes. But of course there was a travel part to this journey which was almost completely left out during my first time in Petrozavodsk 2 years ago.
