This article explains how to manage browsing history on Safari for iPad, including how to view and delete the iPad Safari history, cookies, and stored website data. This article applies to all iPad devices with iOS 10 or iPadOS 13 or later. The process for managing browser history in Safari on an iPhone is slightly different.

How to View and Delete Your iPad Browser History in Safari

Reviewing your iPad browser history is a straightforward process. Safari stores a log of websites you visit along with other related components, such as the cache and cookies. These elements enhance your browsing experience, but you may want to delete your browsing history for privacy reasons.

You can manage your web browsing history on the iPad in two ways. The easiest option is to do it directly in Safari:

Open the Safari web browser.

Select the Bookmarks icon (it looks like an open book) at the top of the screen.

Select the clock icon to open the History pane. A list of sites visited over the past month appears.

To delete a single website from the browser history, swipe left on its name.

Select your preferred option to remove the browsing history from your iPad and all connected iCloud devices.

How to Delete History and Cookies From the iPad Settings App

Deleting the browser history through Safari doesn't remove all the data it stores. For a thorough cleaning, go to the iPad Settings app. You can also delete the browsing history and cookies from the Settings app. Clearing the history this way deletes everything Safari saved.

Select the gear icon on the Home screen to open the iPad Settings .

Scroll down and select Safari .

Scroll through the list of settings and select  Clear History and Website Data to delete the browsing history, cookies, and other cached website data.

Select  Clear to confirm, or select Cancel to return to the Safari settings without removing any data.

How to Delete Stored Website Data on iPad

Safari sometimes stores additional website data on top of a list of web pages you visited. For example, it can save passwords and preferences for frequently visited sites. If you want to delete this data but don't want to clear the browsing history or cookies, selectively delete specific data saved by Safari using the iPad Settings app.

Open the iPad Settings app.

Scroll to the bottom of the Safari settings screen and select Advanced .

Select  Website Data to display a breakdown of the data each website currently stores on the iPad.

Select Show All Sites to display the expanded list if necessary.

Select  Remove All Website Data  at the bottom of the screen to delete the site data at once, or swipe left on individual items to clear items one at a time.

Private Browsing mode in Safari allows you to browse the web without saving your browsing history. This can be particularly useful when you want to maintain privacy or when using a shared device. To enable Private Browsing:

  • iPhone and iPad : Open Safari, tap the tab icon, and then tap "Private" to switch to Private Browsing mode.
  • Mac : Open Safari, click on "File" in the top menu bar, select "New Private Window," and start browsing in Private mode.

By understanding and utilizing these management options, you can effectively control your browsing history on Safari across all your Apple devices. Whether you want to maintain privacy, optimize storage, or streamline your browsing experience, Safari provides the tools to manage your browsing history according to your preferences.

In conclusion, understanding how to access and manage your browsing history on Safari across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac is essential for optimizing your browsing experience. The ability to revisit previously viewed websites, clear your history for privacy, and prevent certain websites from appearing in your history provides a level of control and convenience that enhances your overall browsing experience.

By following the simple steps outlined in this article, you can effortlessly access your browsing history on Safari from your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Whether you want to revisit a website you stumbled upon a few days ago or need to find a page you viewed recently, knowing how to access your browsing history empowers you to make the most of this essential feature.

Furthermore, the ability to manage your browsing history by clearing your entire history, removing individual entries, preventing specific websites from appearing in your history, and enabling Private Browsing mode gives you the flexibility to tailor your browsing experience to your preferences. Whether you prioritize privacy, storage optimization, or seamless browsing, Safari offers a range of options for effectively managing your browsing history across all your Apple devices.

As technology continues to evolve, the seamless integration of browsing history across devices has become increasingly important. How to View Your History in the iPhone 14 Safari Browser: A Step-by-Step Guide

So, you’ve got an iPhone 14 and you’re wondering how to check out your Safari browsing history? Don’t worry, it’s a piece of cake! In less than a minute, you’ll be navigating through your past searches and visited pages like a pro. Let’s get you started!

Step by Step Tutorial: Viewing Your History in the iPhone 14 Safari Browser

Before diving into the steps, it’s essential to understand the purpose of viewing your history. It helps you revisit a previously visited site, track your digital footprint, or clear any traces for privacy concerns.

Step 1: Open Safari

Launch Safari from your iPhone’s home screen by tapping on the Safari icon.

When you open Safari, you’ll see your default homepage or the last page you visited if you haven’t closed the app completely.

Step 2: Tap the Bookmarks icon

The Bookmarks icon looks like an open book and is located at the bottom of the screen.

After tapping the Bookmarks icon, you’ll see a list of options, including your bookmarks, reading list, and history.

Step 3: Select the History tab

The History tab is represented by a clock icon and located at the top of the Bookmarks menu.

In the History tab, you’ll find a chronological list of all the websites you’ve visited over the past few days or weeks.

Step 4: Scroll through your history

Browse through the list to find the website you want to revisit, or simply review your past activity.

You can also search for specific pages by using the search bar at the top of the History section.

Step 5: Clear your history (optional)

To clear your history, scroll to the bottom of the History list and tap on ‘Clear’. You can choose to clear the history of the last hour, today, today and yesterday, or all history.

Clearing your history can be beneficial if you’re using a shared device or if you want to keep your browsing information private.

After completing these steps, you’ll have successfully viewed your history on the iPhone 14 Safari browser. You can now revisit old sites, track your browsing habits, or clear your history for privacy.

Tips for Viewing Your History in the iPhone 14 Safari Browser

  • Regularly check your history to keep tabs on your online activity.
  • Clearing your history can help protect your privacy, especially when using public or shared devices.
  • Use the search function in the History tab to quickly find specific pages you’ve visited.
  • Remember that clearing your history does not remove cookies or other data stored by websites on your device.
  • If you can’t find the history tab, make sure you’re not in Private Browsing mode, which doesn’t save your history.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do i access private browsing history on my iphone 14.

Private browsing history is not saved in Safari, so there’s no way to access it once you’ve closed the private browsing tabs.

Can I recover my Safari history if I accidentally clear it?

Once cleared, your Safari history cannot be recovered. It’s always a good idea to bookmark pages you might need in the future before clearing your history.

Can other devices see my iPhone 14 Safari history?

If you use iCloud Safari syncing, your history can be accessed from any device logged into your iCloud account.

Is there a way to view history from a specific date on my iPhone 14?

Safari’s History tab only shows a chronological list. For a history from a specific date, you might need to scroll through the list or use a third-party app.

Does clearing my history also clear my cookies and website data?

No, clearing your history does not clear your cookies or website data. You must do that separately in Safari’s settings.

  • Open Safari.
  • Tap the Bookmarks icon.
  • Select the History tab.
  • Scroll through your history.
  • Clear your history (optional).

Navigating your Safari browsing history on the iPhone 14 is a simple and straightforward process. Whether you’re looking to revisit a favorite website, check your browsing habits, or maintain privacy by clearing your history, you now have the know-how to do it all. Remember to use the history feature responsibly, as it is a record of your digital activity.

If privacy is a concern, familiarize yourself with the Private Browsing mode and consider regularly clearing your history and website data. Happy browsing, and enjoy exploring the depths of your digital footprint on your iPhone 14 Safari browser!

Social Security Matters

Access your earnings history with my social security.

September 7, 2023 • By Dawn Bystry, Associate Commissioner, Office of Strategic and Digital Communications

Last Updated: November 2, 2023

Person reviewing online earnings history on tablet

Did you know that you can find out how much you made that first year? Or any year you worked?

Your earnings history is a record of your progress toward your future Social Security benefits. We track your earnings so we can pay you the benefits you’ve earned over your lifetime. That is why it’s so important for you to review your earnings record.

You should review your earnings history and let us know if there are any errors or omissions, even though it’s your employer’s responsibility to provide accurate earnings information to us. Otherwise, you will not get credit for money you paid in payroll taxes, and your future Social Security benefits will be lower than you should receive. You’re the only person who can look at your lifetime earnings record and verify that it’s complete and correct.

If an employer didn’t properly report even just one year of your earnings to us, that error could reduce your future benefit payments. Over your lifetime, that could cost you thousands of dollars in retirement or other benefits that you’re entitled to receive. It’s important to identify and report errors as soon as possible. If too much time passes, it could be hard for you to get older tax documents. Also, some employers may no longer exist or be able to provide past payroll information.

The best way to verify your earnings record is to create or sign in to your personal my Social Security account . You should review your earnings carefully every year and confirm them using your own records, such as W-2s and tax returns. Keep in mind that earnings from this year and last year may not be listed yet. When you have a my Social Security  account, we send you an email three months before your birthday to remind you to check your earnings and to get future benefit estimates.

You can find out how to correct your earnings record by reading our publication, How to Correct Your Social Security Earnings Record .

Start a conversation. Ask a family member or friend what their first job was and let them know they can find out what they made that year.

I have waited to file my taxes before I apply for Social security. But my record for 2023 is not available yet. Should I apply now or wait until it becomes available? Would it affect the calculation? How long it may take for the IRS to submit this information to Social security?

Hi Angela F., thank you for using our blog and for your questions. After you’ve filed your 2023 tax return, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will send us your earnings. That said, t he decision on when to apply for benefits is a personal one. We can provide you with information and resources to help you make the best choice based on your situation. We encourage you to create a personal my Social Security Account   and review your Social Security Statement.  You’ll see how much you’ll get in retirement benefits when you apply at different ages between 62 and 70. These personalized estimates are based on your earnings to date. If you need additional assistance, please call us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. We hope this helps.

I am trying to access my earnings history from 1970-1986 to verify I worked in a profession in which I operated equipment which resulted in a significant hearing loss. I did not find this anywhere or able to access this on my social security account. How do I access the earning history without paying $44 for each year I request. Is such a thing possible?

Hi, Chuck. Thanks for reading our blog and for your question. The special rule lets us pay a Social Security check for any month your earnings are $1,860 or less, regardless of your annual earnings. Our retirement application includes questions about your total earnings for 2024 and the months when you expect to earn less than $1,860. For more information about the special rule, check out our Frequently Asked Questions . Good Morning, is there a record of all the employers I had that paid into social security for me? And where on my account do I see the number of quarters I have earned? Thank You

February 10, 2024 3:34PM

I have the same question.

February 16, 2024 9:06AM

Hi, Jennifer. Thanks for reading our blog and for your questions. To get a detailed earnings statement, you can submit a completed Form SSA-7050, Request for Social Security Earnings Information . For more information, visit our  Frequently Asked Questions . Regarding your “quarters”, the first page of your Social Security Statement displays the number of credits (formerly quarters of coverage) you have but only if you have not earned enough credits to qualify for a specific benefit. Learn more at our Social Security Credits webpage. We hope this helps.

I recently changed my Medicare coverage and wish to know the amount of my monthly SS check and determine how much, if anything, is being deducted.

February 8, 2024 12:11PM

Hi, Eva. Thanks for reading our blog and for your question. You can use your personal my Social Security account to check the benefits and payments you receive. Below your online Benefit Summary, you’ll find the information you’re looking for – the monthly amount of any Part A, B, C, and D premiums we’re withholding from your payments. If we’re not withholding premiums for Part C (Medicare Advantage) or Part D (Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage), you’ll need to contact the plan for that information. We hope this helps.

January 30, 2024 5:57PM

This page states “The best way to verify your earnings record is to create or sign in to your personal my Social Security account.” But that information is not available today when I checked. (1) Is this because logging into “your Social Security” account is not the same as “my Social Security” account? Please clarify on the site. (2) Please state if this information is hidden from people after a certain number of years of retirement (without taking benefits) and/or not earning anything. (3) Please state if this information is only available in the three months before each birthday. I am not in that timeframe.

February 2, 2024 9:26AM

After you sign in and agree to the Terms of Service, select the blue Review your full earnings now link in the middle of the webpage. SCI Logo

See You In San Antonio

how to see time history safari

By W. Laird Hamberlin, CEO of SCI and SCIF

Originally published in the June 2024 edition of Safari Times .

I look forward to meeting all members who will be able to attend the Grand Opening of SCI’s San Antonio offices on Saturday, June 29.

We’re set to have a great time as SCI turns the page to a new chapter in its storied history. As we announced earlier, SCI has moved its business operations from Tucson, Ariz., to San Antonio, Texas.

As SCI’s chief of staff, it has been a study in details as operations move to a spot more centrally located in the country and in one of the most hunter-friendly states in the USA.

Many staff members have moved from Tucson to San Antonio, while others continue to work either from SCI’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., or remotely from locations across North America and Europe.

SCI is global, and so are our operations. SCI has expanded more around the world in the past few years than it did in all the years before. SCI is THE most effective organization of hunters anywhere.

Nowhere could that have been more apparent than during Lobby Day in Washington, D.C., last month. SCI members and staff met with more than 100 Congressional offices on Lobby Day, telling the legislators what measures SCI supports and which ones we oppose.

We also had many successes, both among legislative bodies and in courts.

All of this emanates from SCI’s Hunters’ Embassy on Capitol Hill. Speaking of that, we also salute Armand and Mary Brachman, Dr. Gerald L. Warnock, Lee and Penny Anderson, the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, and a number of SCI Chapters in making substantial donations to help retire the debt on this critical building.

Advocacy is one of the six pillars upon which the future of hunting rests. The other five are Chapters, Event Services (Convention), Hunting, Membership and Conservation.

During the Board of Directors meeting last month in Washington, D.C., SCI signed a landmark memorandum of understanding with Professional Hunters’ Association of South Africa that heralds even closer ties between the two groups as we forge forward together into the future.

This was on the heels of a joint venture SCI entered into earlier with Cinegética, the largest hunting show in Spain. And there will be more to talk about during the coming weeks and months as SCI continues to expand, both in size and influence.

Texas Trophy Hunters Association, now part of the SCI family, will hold three Extravaganza hunting shows in Houston, Fort Worth and San Antonio in August. There will be an all-new and even bigger Extravaganza in Dallas in January.

Meanwhile, I encourages everyone to vote this coming November. The future of hunting depends on right-thinking officials to be elected at all levels of government.

And make sure to plan now to attend the SCI Convention in Nashville Jan. 22-25, 2025. See you there.
