Canoeing in Poland

Poland is canoeing lovers’ dream come true. about 150 canoeing routes and 10,000 rowing-friendly lakes is opulence that cannot be matched in europe. such a dense network of water routes is just nowhere to be found. polish water routs are suitable for one day trips and also a few day adventures. polish tourist and sightseeing society (polish: pttk) estimates that 4 to 5 mln people in poland do canoeing regularly or from time to time. as the routs often lead through pristine nature areas it is a very popular pastime..

Canoeing is one of the cheaper forms of activity. The equipment is inexpensive and can be rented at a reasonable price. No licenses or courses are needed in Poland to hire a canoe. To complete the selected section of the route, you do not need to be in advanced shape or stamina. Canoeing is not particularly demanding, it is easy to adjust the pace of the trip to your own abilities, and the variety of water bodies means that, depending on your needs, you can choose a river with a calm flow or a lake and no major obstacles.

The best developed kayaking water routes in Poland:

  • Czarna Hańcza

(on the way you can find equipment rentals, waterfront shops, riverside hostels and campsites).

In some areas you don’t even need your own paddling skills. Gondoliers are waiting by the Krutynia River , thanks to which tourists can see the most beautiful part of the river at an express pace and effortlessly. The Dunajec River , in turn, is served by traditional rafts, on which you can enjoy an exciting rafting trip with folklore element.

Bird watching lovers should try water labyrinths of the Narew, the serpentines of Jegrznia, Biebrza and Płociczna . A large part of Polish rivers is unregulated, most flow through relatively uninhabited areas, crossing forests and meandering in meadows. Their surroundings are usually quiet and peaceful, so the chance to meet rare species of animals is quite high.

If you are an extreme activities lover, you can join raft trips on the Oder , leading from Nowa Sól all the way to Szczecin itself or to row from Bory Tucholskie to Hamburg ; the route is about 900 km long and leads through the Brda, Bydgoszcz Canal, Noteć, Warta, Oder and Elbe. Extreme rowing enthusiasts should also try one of the 3 genuine mountain rivers suitable for canoeing use ( Białka, Dunajec or Poprad Rivers ). For example, Białka, flowing through the Tatra Mountains and Podhale is terribly cold, rushing, foamed and paved with granite boulders and is a real challenge.

The most chosen canoeing routs by ITS Poland DMC :

Krutynia canoeing trail.

Krutyń village, one of the places where you can start your journey, is situated 21 km from Mikołajki (21 min drive) and 83 km from Olsztyn (1 h 17 min) in famous Mazury Lake District. Krutynia trail is considered one of the most beautiful canoeing trails not only in Poland but also in Europe. The river along its course changes its character, crossing Piska primeval forest it is shallow and rapid, then it becomes a lowland river with picturesque meanders among shrubs. Tourists can admire not only the river and a wide variety of plants but also many birds. The trail also leads through Mazury Landscape Reserve. The whole trail has 116 km (60 km of which is stagnant water) and tourist need about 9 days to cover all of it in a canoe. The biggest body of water along the trail is Mokre Lake (Wet Lake) which is 8 km long and has the area of 815 hectares. Of course you don’t need to cover the whole river at once. Local companies offer a few hours, weekend and a few days trips. Campsites are about 13 km from one another along the whole trail. Krutynia canoeing trip is unforgettable adventure and amazing opportunity to meet pristine nature.

Brda canoeing trail

Brda is considered to be the most beautiful canoeing trail in Poland and Europe. Long, easy to sail, perfectly marked, it has two great advantages - many lakes along the trail and countless forests that accompany it along the entire course. Nature lovers should be delighted. The bottom of the river is hard, gravel, and sparsely overgrown in long stretches. The significant difference in elevations between the source and the estuary to the Vistula River makes the Brda river swift. The extremely varied, winding course of the river, vast forests, picturesque lakes, primeval nature and numerous side routes have attracted many canoeists for years. The river is available for canoes on a length of 233 km, starting from Lake Duży Pietrzykowskie . The upper, very picturesque part of the Brda River is quite troublesome due to the current overgrown with reeds. Before the estuary to Lake Szczytno, Brda - the upper section in the 300-year-old beech forest, which is a nature reserve, there are several hundred cormorant and heron nests. The main attractions of the middle section are the picturesque lakes (including Szczytno, Charzykowskie, Długie, Łąckie). Having passed the village of Rytel, the Brda flows among the pine forests of Bory Tucholskie. The hospitable shores of the Brda River, with a dry, sandy base, are easily accessible from the water. You can camp in many charming glades, among old forests. Apart from small clearings, perfect for small groups of canoeists, there are many well-developed camping sites.

Rospuda canoeing trail

Rospuda flows above Lake Czarny at 175 m above sea level and ends in Lake Rospuda at an altitude of about 122 m above sea level. The river basin is 900 km2. The length of the Rospuda trail is 68 km, and it takes about 5 - 6 days to complete it. Rospuda flows through nine lakes and crosses two phosiographically different lands: the Suwałki Lake District with its rich postglacial relief and the flat outwash plain of the Augustów Primeval Forest. Such a course influences its diverse character and variability of the surroundings, from an almost mountain river with high, often forested banks and gorges with a rocky bottom to a typical lowland river meandering lazily among the reeds in a marshy valley.

Summing up, Poland is an ideal place for canoeing holidays both for beginners and also professionals. It is also ideal for nature lovers and people who like to contemplate it in peaceful surrounding far from the crowds. If you would like to discover more canoeing holidays options contact Polish travel agency ITS Poland to create your ideal trip plan and start your Polish adventure right now!

The Krutynia River Canoe Tour is one of the most beautiful canoeing routes not only in Poland, but also in Europe. Without a doubt, a very refreshing plan!

Krutynia on our route through Poland What to keep in mind?

On your trip to Poland you must kayak down the Krutynia River. You will not forget it!

If you are looking to kayak in Poland this is the ideal place, more than 110 km of descent down an unforgettable river.

For us it was one of the activities that we liked the most of the whole trip. If today you ask my children what they liked the most about Poland, they will tell you 3 things and one of them is this descent down the Krutynia river in Poland by kayak, and that the day we did it, it rained on us and I sparkle for almost the entire route!

Without a doubt we love adventure!

What to see and do on the Krutynia river

Kayaking down the Krutynia River is quite an experience . The river constantly changes its character. The swift, shallow stream that runs through the Pisz Forest turns into a lovely, tranquil lowland river over time, snaking through thickets full of waterfowl.

Access and starting point of the descent of the Krutynia

The Krutynia River runs through the lake region in Poland . The point of ideal access to start this activity is the town of Krutyn , the first municipality after the source of the Krutynia that comes out of a large lake forming the Krutynia reserve and then flowing downward.

Krutyn you will see that it is a small town full of lodgings and kayak and canoe rental companies. That's where we come from.

In the picturesque lakes, and there are several of them, you can enjoy the wind and waves. It takes about 9 days to cover the entire 116-kilometer route of the Krutynia River. There are riverside hostels available (located approximately every 13 km, that is, at the end of each daily stage and  relaxing from the canoe trip) , holiday resorts, agritourism farms, guesthouses, even some hotels and plenty of great campervan sites. Also, if you go by motorhome or camper, don't worry, the same people who rent the kayak come to pick you up and take you to the starting point.

The descent of the Krutynia in Poland

Rent a kayak in Krutynia

We park the motorhome in a parking lot on the main road of Krutynia and we rented two kayaks out of two at the Stanica Wodna PTTK bungalow hotel . This place was recommended to us by tourism, it is touching the river and has a restaurant bar with views that is super nice with swans and ducks and games for the children .

It is rented by kilometers what do you want to travel and When you finish the kilometers you must call them by phone and they come to pick you up in a van. The price It is from about 12 € uros the kayak of 2 to 3 km.

The ideal for a family day with children is 3 km or 6 km. After 6 km the river told us that it stops being so calm.

You should also know that after 3 km you will have to take the kayak out of the river, since there is a dam, and drag it 100 meters (or hire one of those who have carts there to take them for a small fee) to rejoin the river.

And eating right there ... in an idyllic place ...

In fact we liked the place so much that we ate there. We ate really excellent. The fish soup was exquisite (which is not at all how you can imagine it… nothing strong and brutal in goodness) and the deer burger that they served us (the deer we learned later) was very good. For the children breaded chicken with fries. And for the post… a brutal apple pie served hot and with ice cream that buff I still salivate for one just the same lol

The real place that is incredible to hang out and eat. We loved it, one of the best places we have eaten in Poland, with beautiful views of the river and its swans. The girl at the reception also speaks good English. To rent the kayaks and book in the restaurant go to the direct reception, that is where they will attend you.

Eating in Krutyn

The water! The stages of the descent down the Krutynia

The activity of kayak, canoe or little boat led by a boatman in the Krutynia is an offer of various types of canoeing ( several hours, weekend, several days, etc. ). Remember, regardless of the type of kayak you choose, you can choose the sections you want to navigate on this highly diversified route, it adapts to everyone. There are short routes of 3 kilometers and over calm waters up to more than 100 km.

We tell you that the Krutynia in its initial section, due to its safe and very quiet nature, is even ideal for beginner canoeists and kayaking with young children.

Krutynia is considered one of the most beautiful lowland routes in Europe. It is very interesting and diverse, it goes through the Pisz forest, and from J. Mokre also through the Masurian Landscape Park.

It is not uncommon to find a white-tailed eagle or a golden eagle on the road. It is worth paying attention to the sponges and red algae that form on the stones. Surely you have not seen anything like it!

The banks of the trail are covered with magnificent oaks and tall pines, from which the masts of sailboats were once made. Kayaking trips on the Krutynia River usually start in Sorkwity. Navigating Sorkwity, the Evangelical church built around 1470 and the Von Mirbach family's Neo-Gothic palace built in 1850 are worth seeing.

Descent of the Krutynia in Poland

  The first stage

The first stage of the canoe trip on the Krutynia River passes through J.Lampackie, J.Lampasz and the shallow and very quiet section of Krutynia called Sobiepanka to the Stanica water located on Lake Białe in Bieńki.

This stage is only 3 km long, ideal for beginners or if you go with small children like us. It ends up in a dam, so the river does not continue and everyone has to get their kayak out of the water whether or not it continues. If you want to continue you have to drag it about 200 meters. If you go with children this can be complicated, but luckily there are people right there with some cars that for a small price will take you the kayaks those 100 meters.

Kayaking Poland down the Krutynia

The next stages

The next sections of Krutynia allow you to enjoy the surrounding nature and give you the opportunity to live an experience as a survivor, since there is the possibility of spending the night on a desert island.

Also, during your trip to Krutynia, you can admire the Royal Pine Reserve with the Karol Małłek oak, about 500 years old, and the Masurian pine, the oldest tree of this species in the Lake District.

Ah! Adam Szubsk's Farm i is an incredible attraction in Zgon, where life-size sculptures are very colorful, even variegated, await you along the way. It is an image of animated people with their daily activities.

Remember that the Zakręt reserve deserves attention, with lakes and Floating Islands. The J.Krutyńskie - Ukta - section is considered the most beautiful on the Krutynia river route, as evidenced by the numerous trips of foreign tourists that pass through the section.

On the way from Krutynia to Ukta, you can visit the Filipon Monastery in Wojnowo, where you can see icons and crosses. In the city of Ukta you will find other attractions: the possibility of excursions on foot or by bicycle to the Wild Animal Park in Kadziłłów (more than 30 species of animals, among them: elk, bison, beaver, lynx, wolves) or to the forest lodge Pranie.

Did you know that everyone who has traveled the canoe trail on the Krutynia River says that the lowland crossing is one of the most beautiful and interesting in Europe?

Not to be missed!

Kayaking in Poland on the Krutynia

Where to park and spend the night in Krutyn by motorhome: let's go to the best campsite in Poland

In Krutyn to rent and do the Kayak activity you can park in the parking lot that you will find shared by different kayak companies to the right of the main entrance street of Krutyn.

For the night we prefer to go to one of the best campsites in Poland, which we saw was not far away and on the way to the skansen that we wanted to go to see the next day. The campground had a private beach on a lake and lots of activities for the kids, we thought it was great. The price did not reach 25 euros per night for the 4, the motorhome and the dog and has prizes as the best camping in Poland.

Camping Tumiany, the best in Poland according to the federation of campsites of Poland

It's called camping Tumiany. The truth is that it was great especially for children with a circuit of tricycles, boats, there are also kayaks to rent for 5 euros and pedal boats, the beach of the lake where we bathe .. .

A paradise that was more like the Spanish coastal campsites than the ones we were used to in Poland, always more familiar and peaceful. The kids loved it.

To access the campsite you have to do it by a 3 km dirt road and better ignore the GPS. When exiting the highway at the roundabout, pay attention to the sign that says Camping 3 km away, pull over there.

Easy routes for canoeing in Poland(1/3)

Canoe trip on Obra

Episode: Kopanica-Skwierzyna, 113 km

Difficulty: for 2-3 times. Beware of surprises!

It would seem that the lowland river, partially regulated and connected with the Warta and Odra channels that drain water from it, does not make trouble for canoeists. But do not be fooled. The final episode awaits adventure. There is a strong current on the river, numerous meanders and unexpected obstacles.

– There are a lot of beavers there, so the sections are blocked by many rivulets, i.e. fallen trees. The places are a real reed field – says Monika Łaskawska-Wolszczak, managing editor of the “CAOKA CENTER OF WIOSŁO”.

Among the advantages of this trail also mentions the possibility of exploring the bunkers of the Międzyrzecki Fortified Region located in the river, where bats live. Apart from it, during the canoeing trip we have the opportunity to meet a lot of species of fish and birds.

Canoe Tripping in Poland

By Brian and Diana Svelnis After much research and map gazing we decided to paddle 850 km across Poland by canoe during the summer of 2010. My wife and I are fifty-something and definitely not thrill seekers and most of Poland is flat. We learned that the rivers were filled with fish, and various migratory birds lived along them. A healthy river, a long distance paddle on flat water without portages and all in a safe country with a unique culture seemed to be perfect.

We have owned a 16′ Pakboat canoe since 2006 and have made a couple of trips to Central America with it, the longest being a 250 km. crossing of Nicaragua.

We packed up our camping gear along with the canoe and headed off to Przemysl in SE Poland. The San river flows through this city and we set out from here on June 13. Our plan was to follow this river 175 km. northward to where it enters the Vistula river and then paddle the Vistula 225 km. to Warsaw.

It took us 26 leisurely days to complete this 400km. Part of our trip included a 5 night stay at a campground in Kazimierz- Dolny. The Vistula becomes busier below Warsaw and so our plans included taking our gear by train up to northern Poland. From there we would paddle a 450km. series of connected rivers, lakes and canals southward back to Warsaw to complete our crossing of Poland. We found a campground in Suwalki which was on the Czarna Hanza river that provided us our put-in spot.

We found Poland to be an easy country to do this kind of independent travel because it’s safe, it has efficient transportation systems and the people are hospitable. Camping is also possible almost everywhere. The rivers are your basic moving flat water variety but their appeal comes from the rural “old world” culture through which they flow. This adventure was possible because we had the good fortune to purchase a Pakboat canoe. This well designed craft has survived the continual loading and unloading, the dragging up riverbanks and the passing over and through obstacles on our trips extremely well.

Canoe trips on the Lyna River through Olsztyn

Olsztyn is situated on three rivers – the Lyna, Wadag and a small Kortowka. The biggest of them all – the Lyna – rises near the village of the same name and flows through Olsztyn Lake District. The river is beautifully meandering through Olsztyn, creating picturesque views you can admire near the Old Town. The rivers of Olsztyn, due to their unique character, attract canoeists and kayaks. From May to September they organise canoe trips “on the Lyna through Olsztyn”.

The route is easy and suited even for beginners. It starts at the foot of Olsztyn Castle. A three-kilometer-long route goes through the picturesque Lyna canyon in Municipal Forest. The final destination is a charming place, where the Lyna joins the Wadag. The trip takes about 1,5 hour and ends with a grill party. The canoes are awaiting the participants at the starting point and you are not obliged to take care of them when the trip is over. After a grill party the organisers provide a bus service to the city centre. Another canoe trip worth recommending follows the Lyna to the Campsite no 173 in Dywity. Especially attractive and most popular version is an eight-kilometer long route, covered in 2–2,5 hours. It starts at a set time at the Castle. The route goes through the Lyna Valley, being a part of Municipal Forest. Be prepared for the areas of fast current. After an hour you reach the water power station. Further on, the river gets broader and the current becomes nearly imperceptible. Having passed the bridge you come across a 200 m wide pool. After a while you reach the campsite, where you can make a grill. You can stop here and stay overnight in a camp house or a tent and continue north the next morning. For more information contact us.

Masuria explored from kayaks is not only pure idyll and an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful nature , but also an exciting adventure . of the region’s many remarkable rivers, we recommend two to your attention – the most famous, known as the “mazurian amazon,” the krutynia, and the wild łaźna struga , located far from tourist trails..

Masuria – canoeing trips

Canoeing in Masuria – Krutynia River

The Krutynia River begins its course in the eastern part of the region and ends in a group of the largest lakes in the center of Masuria. The route passes through a dozen lakes connected by short rivers , which are collectively known as the Krutynia.

What is unique about the Krutynia is its clear water, the voices of nature, stunning views and the lack of buildings along most of the route . On a longer stretch you will be able to come face to face with a gray heron , and if you have a keen eye, you will also spot a bald eagle or a black stork .

More than half of the trail runs in the Masurian Landscape Park, and the marked route passes in the vicinity of 10 nature reserves . It means that here you are looking at nature and nature is looking at you.

The entire trail consists of nearly 102 kilometers of marked routes , winding through picturesque areas, starting in the village of Sorkwity and ending in Ruciane-Nida at the popular Lake Nidzkie. There are 10 water stations along the trail, where you can rest, eat and enjoy overnight accommodations.

Canoeing in Masuria – Łaźna Struga

The Łaźna Struga is a little-known river in a little-known part of Masuria near the city of Ełk . It is a suggestion for tourists looking primarily for tranquility and remoteness from places overflowing with people.

The section of the river accessible to canoeists begins in the Borecka Forest, a few dozen kilometers north of Ełk. In the lower section, the river crosses regional boundaries and flows into the Biebrza, known for its great floodplains.

Meandering river flowing in an ever-changing landscape constantly surprises. Surrounding meadows with lush vegetation, several-meter-high escarpments descending to the very water surface, walls of reeds, tunnels made of trees, numerous river bays full of water lilies and swans – all this determines that rafting on the Łaźna Struga leaves unforgettable impressions.

Despite its sparse infrastructure, the river is ideal for relaxed, undemanding rafting. It takes about 3 hours to cover about 10 km.

Kayaks in Masuria – how to rent?

You will find the largest number of kayak rentals on the Krutynia River in Krutyń . Wanting to rent kayaks on the Łaźna Struga River, head to the village of Połom .

The price of renting a two-person kayak is in the range of 100 PLN per day. You can pack your personal belongings in waterproof bags. The price includes return transportation to the starting point.

Out on the water

Water Activities – updated 12 January 2023.

There’s a huge variety of Sailing, Canoeing, Kayaking & Rafting opportunities available in Poland. For those people who enjoy getting out on the water, there are many options to choose from.

Water Activities

Sailing in Poland

Poland has a long coastline on the Baltic Sea, which offers a great opportunity for sailing. The Masurian Lake District in north-eastern Poland is particularly popular for sailing, as it is home to many lakes, making it ideal for sailors of all levels.

The lakes are connected by canals and rivers, allowing sailors to explore the beautiful Lakeland scenery. The Masurian Lake District is also home to many sailing clubs and marinas, which offer boat rental and sailing lessons. It is possible to enjoy two weeks on the water without visiting the same lake twice.

Known as the Polish Lake District, this impressive network of interconnected lakes offers sailors excellent facilities including a great choice of sailboats for hire with the most popular places to do so being Giżycko and Mikołajki.

Baltic coast

The Baltic coast also offers good sailing opportunities, especially in the summer months. There are several marinas and sailing clubs along the coast, which offer boat rental and sailing lessons. The main sailing centers are located in Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot .

The 870 square kilometre bay at Szczecin is the most popular place to sail and is shared by Germany and Poland.

There are also many historic and cultural sites to visit, such as the medieval town of Malbork , which is located on the coast, and the port city of Gdansk, which is known for its rich history and architecture.

Sailing events

Additionally, Poland is also home to several major sailing events, such as the Copernicus Cup regatta, which takes place in Gdynia, and the Sopot Regatta, which takes place in Sopot. These events attract sailors from all over the world and offer a great opportunity to see some of the best sailors in action.

License to sail

If you’re going to sail, you’ll need a license, which you can obtain by completing a course with the Polish Sailing Association. If you have a license issued by the RYA, then that will be accepted too. Without a license, you will only be permitted to use small inland sailing vessels (a sailing yacht with hull length up to 7.5 m or a motor yacht with 10kW engine power). Alternatively, you can hire a larger vessel complete with skipper.

Water Activities

Canoeing, Kayaking & Rafting

There’s an incredible variety of places in Poland where you can get paddling. The Lakeland areas such as Masuria, Kashubia and Warmia contain thousands of lakes and rivers, there’s also canals, various river tributaries and bogs that you could choose.

Masurian Lakes

If the Great Masurian Lakes is your preference, then a good starting point is Olsztyn , located on the Łyna River. There are plenty of companies, which organise trips, guides and equipment. A popular canoeing trip from Olsztyn is to paddle up the Łyna River to the border of Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave.

Water Activities

Krutynia River

By far, the most popular canoeing route in Masuria is the Krutynia River, which is considered by many paddling enthusiasts as being the most scenic river in the north of Poland. The recommended starting point is Sorkwity and you should follow the river and Lake Bełdany to Ruciane-Nida, a well-known tourist centre within the Masurian Lake District. The route takes you through 100km of some of the best scenery in Poland.

Drweca River

Another interesting Mazurian route is that of the Drweca River which is one of the clearest rivers in Poland. It is about 200 km long. It starts at Ostroda, flows through forests and wildlife reserves, and goes all the way to the Vistula River near Torun. Comfortable sites for camping are found on both riverbanks. There is an annual “International Canoe Trip on Drweca river”, which is popular among canoeists from many countries.

Czarna Hańcza route

Away from Masuria, you will find other good places to paddle. The Czarna Hańcza route from Augustów to Lake Serwy is extremely popular and includes the 180-year-old Augustów Canal, the Suwałki Lake District and the Augustów Forest.

National Parks

Many paddling favourites can be found in Poland’s National Parks such as the Biebrza River, which runs through Biebrza National Park, Lake Wigry in the Wigry National Park, the Narew River in the Narew National Park and Brda River in the Bory Tucholskie National Park . Experienced kayakers can often be found navigating the Drawa Route, which runs through Drawa National Park.

Mountain rivers

Kayakers looking for that special, intense experience should go down one of the three true Mountain rivers, best suited for kayaking. For example, the Bialka running through Tatry and Podhale – horrifyingly cold, rushing, foamy and strewn with granite rocks.

Dunajec Gorge

If a leisurely rafting trip (no white-water) is your cup of tea, then the Dunajec Gorge in the Pieniny is recommended. Experienced tourists can seek adventures along more challenging whirls and rocks of mountain rivers. Kayak trips for groups are organised on the Dunajec River, which seems to be the best choice, also because of its picturesque gorges in the Pieniny Mountains.

Nice Robin, you are really getting out there learning the territory. Jim

Nice report and pics Robin. I love the look of your new canoe. It looks like it handled your gear well - how did do with that load going up current. Doe this canoe offer more "glide" than say your Chum or Pal? Bob.

Boreal Birch

Love the color of your canoe & the red shirt on the male model in front of your wall tent. Reminds me of the pictures of the Ely Echo outdoors editor/author Bob "Jackpine" Cary. Any fish caught or grouse harvested? Looks & sounds like a great trip.

Nice trip report and photos Robin. Looks like a great spot! I am jealous too, I didn't get out once this fall (my favorite season) because of work and medical problems. I am still holding out hope to fit in one last trip to the ADKs before it becomes true winter camping.

I thought the pic of the put-in you post on Fb looked a lot like Poland Pond, but I didn't think there was enough room on that rock for your tent. Have they found a place for a new thunderbox yet?

Photo #1 should be on every man's calendar. This trip should be in every man's dreams. (Canoe tripping women are most definitely included.) Thanks Robin.

Great post Robin! I like the way you travel and make camp!

Thanks Jim, it's been fun checking out different areas of northern Maine, the last trip was the best. Now about that north Maine "wind", ugh! Bob B., I was able to paddle up some strong current while maintaining complete control of the canoe, twice, fully loaded and empty. Not sure about the glide, and at first I noticed a big difference between my 15' Chum and the 16' Cruiser, but once I spent some time in the Cruiser I felt it could be my new favorite canoe, I'm very happy with it. I did notice when the wind kicked up the high bow needed to be kept under control, but I love the look of that bow so much I yelled "that's all you got" to the wind every time! You will like this canoe. Thanks BB, the clothes make the man. I thought that shirt might get me some looks in the logging town of Millinocket but no dice. Fishing is done and the virus kept me from getting a Maine drivers licence till recently, then they told me it will be a couple of weeks in the mail, no hunting license. I saw lots of guys cruising the roads for grouse, not my style. Glenn, Very stable, I brought a 3/8's wrench with some longer spacers in the event I found the seat too high but the canoe is very steady, I leaned it a lot and felt comfortable. I'm curious how it would go with 2 paddlers, probably move right along. Thanks TB, appreciate that. Sweeper, You know the area, no, the thunder box left a lot to be desired. But the island was nice, a little tough for my weak legs getting all the gear up top but worth it. Oddy, Thanks my friend. RickR Thank You, very much appreciated. I sometimes overdue it with my opinions on old vs new but it's all good. Thanks

Looks like a great trip Robin. Glad to hear the Chestnut Cruiser is to your liking!

Nice trip Robin. I am totally jealous, I didnt get out for an overnight even this year unless you count truck camping. Before I knew it winter was here and living outside was too hard for old ladies. I like the cruiser....how does it compare to your Pal? I have a low end Pete Champlain here waiting love that looks like it could be a good paddler. Very similar to a Pal.

Wow that first shot is a beauty Robin. Not that I need it, but thanks for reinforcing why you are one of my paddling heroes.

Now I am really intrigued. Did you put in at Round Pond and paddle up to Poland Pond or is there a put in off Ledge Rd? Perusing Google Maps!

Thanks for sharing Robin, looks like a wonderful place to get lost for a few days. Love to food cooking on your stove. Yummy! I imagine the night time stars are wonderful. That’s something I really appreciate when I get the chance.

Nice to see that you are enjoying the northern part of Maine. Did you have to travel very far? That canoe is a beauty. Love to have one of them, but at my age, my body is begging for carbon. Take care. G.
