Skyrim Mod:Skyrim Wayshrines - Immersive Fast Travel

Skyrim Wayshrines - Immersive Fast Travel , more commonly known as SWIFT , is a quest-based immersion mod which adds a new Fast Travel system to Skyrim. The mod expands on the Snow Elf Wayshrine network introduced in the Forgotten Vale by incorporating the findings of Beredalmo the Signifier, first introduced in The Elder Scrolls Online . Over the course of a short questline , you will discover the secret research of Corvus Direnni , and use that knowledge to unlock twenty Wayshrines throughout the Holds of Skyrim. Compatibility patches add additional wayshrines for other mods, including Beyond Reach , Beyond Skyrim: Bruma , Darkend , Falskaar , Graycowl of Nocturnal , Moonpath to Elsweyr , and Wyrmstooth .

Skyrim Wayshrines - Immersive Fast Travel

  • Edit source

Skyrim Wayshrines - Immersive Fast Travel , SWIFT , is a mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition .

Elder Scrolls

Fast Travel (Skyrim)

  • Edit source

Fast Travel is a method of travel in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim . It is a way of quickly "teleporting" to any previously discovered location . The travel takes place almost instantaneously in real-world time through a loading screen , but in game time will still pass by as if the Dragonborn had walked there. When using fast travel, the time elapsed may be longer than the time it would have taken to run to the destination, especially when the distance is short.

Fast Travel can be done via the world map or by using one of the carriages stationed near the main gate of many cities. Fast travel via world map is free, but can only be done to a location that has already been discovered. Travel via carriage is limited to major cities, regardless if they have been visited or not before, with a fee relative to distance and the size of the destination city (for example it costs more to travel from Whiterun to Dawnstar than from Windhelm to Solitude even though the distance between Windhelm and Solitude is greater). The Hearthfire DLC allows the Dragonborn to hire a carriage for their homestead , which will also go to smaller cities  and towns ( Darkwater Crossing , Dragon Bridge , Ivarstead , Karthwasten ,  Kynesgrove , Old Hroldan Inn , Riverwood , Rorikstead , Shor's Stone , and Stonehills ).

With Dawnguard , fast travel can also be done between Castle Volkihar and the main island of Skyrim by boat. With Dragonborn , the initial trip to Solstheim must be by boat. (Conventional fast travel can be used later, between the docks at Windhelm and Raven Rock .)

  • 1 Conditions
  • 2 Fast travel time

Conditions [ ]

The fast travel cannot be done while in any of the following conditions:

  • While indoors
  • While jumping
  • While falling
  • While mounting or dismounting a horse .
  • While being too close to enemies
  • While being pursued by enemies/ Hold Guards
  • While taking health damage (e.g. from poison )
  • Riding on horseback.
  • Under the effect of a Fortify Carry Weight potion that is strong enough. There is no limit on fast travel distance while the potion is in effect. However, the effect of the potion immediately wears off after the arrival causing the Dragonborn to be overburdened again.

Fast travel time [ ]

Approximate time to travel between cities/towns wearing Light Armor , measured by in-game hours:

  • The amount and type of armor worn affects how much time passes during fast travel.
  • Fast traveling while on foot or on horseback takes the same amount of time. The only difference will be how the Dragonborn arrives: on foot next to the horse, or on horseback.
  • Any positive or negative effects (such as from a disease ) will still progress during fast travel.
  • Neither the Dragonborn, their horse, or any companion will encounter any enemies during fast travel.
  • Due to the respawning of enemies , dragons and creatures being scripted to happen when fast travelling; if fast travel is never used, after a certain time, encounters with them will reduce noticeably.
  •  PC     360     PS3    When arriving at a location by fast travel, random creatures can spawn in front of the Dragonborn. For example, a non-hostile bandit might spawn every time they fast-travel, who can be talked to but will become hostile if attacked. A similar bug happens when fast-traveling to Falkreath , causing all of the Hold Guards to spawn at the entrance to the city.
  •  PC    Fast traveling with followers to northern cities like Windhelm or the College of Winterhold can trigger a sliding effect on arrival. Normally, this effect is not critical; however, it is possible to sometimes slide for a very long distance and fall from a cliff.
  •  360    After waiting in a location for a long time (two or three weeks), or if multiple other characters have been played before returning to play as the affected character, fast traveling to a location might spawn enemies that have made into thralls (or raised as zombies) in the past. They will attack each other unless they are in the same faction. (Only bandits or spiders, for example).
  •  360     PS3    If fast travel is selected to any location and the back button is immediately pressed, the fast travel will not occur, the game will no longer be paused and the character menu will not be able to be opened. The pause menu can be opened, but saving the game will be the only option that functions, not loading an existing save. The "quit game" option is available, however, allowing a more time consuming reload of the game by saving and exiting the game. Reloading the game will fix this.
  •  360 (Fix)     PS3 (Fix)    Manually shut down the console, as any attempt to open the Xbox or PS3 menu will result in the loading circles on every option and they will never load.
  •  PC     360    Fast traveling on horseback to the College of Winterhold may cause one to appear several feet above the bridge.
  •  PC (Fix)    Quickly Fast traveling to another place before the horse falls off may solve the problem.
  •  PC     360     PS3    Sometimes, when attempting to fast travel, the game will say "You cannot fast travel while guards are pursuing you," even if guards are not pursuing the Dragonborn.
  •  360     PS4    Fast traveling from a snowy location can sometimes cause it to snow in areas that do not normally experience snowy weather conditions.
  •  PC (Fix)    Fast traveling to any location will fix this.
  •  PC (Fix)    Exiting the game to the desktop restarting will fix this.
  • By opening the Journal and pressing the "show on map" button for quest objectives it is possible to access the map, and thus fast travel even under circumstances that normally prevent access to the map, such as after the Dragonborn dies or at the beginning of the game while Helgen is under attack.

Elden Ring: 10 Best Places To Farm Runes

Final fantasy fans really aren't happy about tidus' lack of tan in brave exvius, riven (2024): boiler island walkthrough.

Players love Skyrim because of how immersive the play experience is. Getting lost in the vast, chilly province is probably the most enjoyable aspect of the game, and that level of immersion can be expanded upon with a series of mods that inject fresh experiences into the game.

RELATED: Skyrim: The Top Graphics Mods So Far

With so many talented players in the modding community, it's never easy narrowing down the best of the best in any category. But immersion mods are perhaps the toughest to decide between, as so many creators have sought to imbue Skyrim with such a wide array of different vibes.

Nevertheless, there is at least one near-constant: a desire to stay true, to some extent or another, to the lore-friendly flavor that Bethesda so successfully planted way back in 2011. A more immersive Skyrim is a Skyrim that takes what Todd Howard's team did and treats it as a beginning , not an end.

Behold the best of the best.

Updated January 28th, 2022 by Quinton O'Connor: Even as the launch of decade-toasting Anniversary Edition fades into recent memory, Skyrim remains a vital part of the gaming landscape. The wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 continues, and new tools are enabling brilliant modders to enrich the realm from Winterhold to The Reach and everywhere in-between. Anniversary Edition packs in every morsel of Creation Club content, including at least one big piece that absolutely earns a spot on this updated list.

20 Immersive Animated Looting

Animations in Skyrim certainly show their age. For players who enjoy Skyrim from a third-person perspective, it can be especially weird to see the lack of proper animations when opening doors or interacting with various objects around the world, such as looting a chest.

The Immersive Animated Looting mod introduces some fast yet realistic animations to fix this. Because the animations are relatively quick, they hardly feel intrusive. As a bonus, the subtleties and swiftness of it all help to ensure that the mod can run just fine on lower-end PCs.

19 Alternate Conversation Camera

It can be more than a little jarring when you walk up to an NPC to trigger some chatter and then boom , the camera slides right up to their face. Even more disconcerting is having the camera swing around oh-so suddenly to draw your attention to whatever guard or courier needs to chat.

Alternate Conversation Camera seeks to overhaul this aspect of the game by making the camera move more naturally when you enter a conversation. There are multiple features to explore, including the option to show conversations with the third-person camera.

18 Animated Clutter

On top of lacking animations for interacting with chests and doors, it's a shame that Skyrim didn't introduce anything for specific sorts of clutter. Opening up a pouch or a knapsack doesn't actually animate on screen, but luckily there's a mod that adds some realism to anything and everything.

RELATED: Skyrim: 9 Things You Should Never Spend Your Gold On

Animated Clutter makes not just chests, but containers of all kinds, actually open up in front of the player's eyes. From knapsacks to barrels, to coffins and beehives, these small and lightweight animations will give the game a more organic feel when adventuring.

17 Gildergreen Regrown

This mod alters the 'Blessings of Nature' quest to make it more immersive from a logical point of view. The original quest has you retrieving either some sap or a sapling to restore or replace the Gildergreen that proudly stands in the center of Whiterun.

With Gildergreen Regrown, the sapling that can be acquired in this quest will now gradually grow into a grand tree worthy of a quest all to itself. The process takes six in-game months and feels so much more authentic for it.

16 Immersive Sounds - Compendium

While audio mods are rather in a category all their own, Immersive Sounds is a must-grab for anyone seeking to — well, wait for it — enjoy a more immersive audio experience. That's because immersion isn't just about gameplay mechanics, but also pertains to big words like feel and sound . The sounds of Skyrim, although well-made, are in need of a fresh coat of aural paint.

The Immersive Sounds mod introduces a massive variety of sounds for combat, nature and any other type of environment. Footsteps on different surfaces in particular will sound and feel vastly different, even coming from other creatures and beings.

15 Immersive Patrols

Random events are a huge part of Skyrim's immersive environment, but sadly the soldierly patrol units that wander the realm's roads in a time of great upheaval don't seem to do a good job of it. There are fewer patrols than is believable, and they tend to stick to the straight-and-narrow no matter what happens nearby. Now, patrols actually have a true place and role in the game, thanks to their adjusted number and better AI.

Immersive Patrols adds more excitement in the form of groups of Thalmor , Stormcloaks, and Imperials in the wild. Dawnguard patrols are also included. Some of these folks will aid you in battle. On other occasions, you might just want to give them a wide berth — Stormcloak and Imperial patrol units react to each other about as well as you'd expect, and the Thalmor were never particularly nice to begin with.

14 JK's High Hrothgar

If you follow the Skyrim mod scene, the name JK should feel familiar to you. JK has graphically altered so much of the game in such splendid and lore-savvy ways that their work frequently features on best visual overhaul lists across the net.

While JK's High Hrothgar is a graphical mod first and foremost, the attention to detail builds upon the Greybeards' mountain abode to the point that their solemn, solitary lives feel more believable — and indeed, more immersive. Rather than tossing in a bunch of clutter that no Greybeard would be interested in, JK has meticulously revamped the very walls and symbols themselves.

13 Wintersun - Faiths of Skyrim

With religion and the Eight Divines being such a large part of Skyrim's story and lore, it doesn't really make sense that you cannot make your Dragonborn a devout individual. Wintersun - Faiths of Skyrim solves this by adding not one, not two, but 50 deities for your character to worship.

This mod adds more functionality to the various shrines that you can visit across Skyrim, and also packs in prayer, lost relics to find, and even the ability to gain blessed powers from the deity of your choice should you prove a faithful servant.

12 Relationship Dialogue Overhaul

With over 4.6 million downloads and counting, there's bound to be something going on in Relationship Dialogue Overhaul. This mod is magnificent; more than 5,000 completely voiced lines are included, all in the original voices. By blending together preexisting vocal work, the creators have brought tremendous vibrancy into Skyrim's people.

Relationship Dialogue Overhaul centers the bulk of its work on the characters you'll encounter the most, such as spouses, followers, and faithful companions. But you'll still find smaller aspects of its implementation even in the rambling of city drunks and wary soldiers.

Unlike every other mod on our list, Fishing is purely a Creation Club feature. It's also our newest addition, having been released on Skyrim's exact anniversary date of November 11th, 2021. Owners of 2016's Skyrim Special Edition can download it for free, and it's bundled in with Anniversary Edition alongside hundreds of other projects.

As you run around the world, you'll undoubtedly find more than your fair share of fish floating near the surface of Skyrim's lakes and rivers. No longer must you click manically hoping to snag one with your bare hands. Fishing is a complete package; not only will you tap into your trusty rod for great catches, but you can cook them in several available abodes or display them in all their fishy glory in your very own aquarium.

10 Zim's Immersive Artifacts

The Daedric artifacts in Skyrim are some of the coolest weapons in the game, but in truth, only a few feel worthwhile. If these weapons really were that epic, they would need to be more powerful. But here's a thin line between powerful and overpowered, which can complicate the issue.

RELATED: Skyrim: Areas You Should Visit Immediately

Zim's Immersive Artifacts brings that balance to life. Artifacts crafted by god-like beings will actually feel that way, as the mod removes the leveled aspect of such items . This makes collecting these legendary artifacts far more meaningful. No longer will the game try to con you into thinking that Daedric piece you were rewarded with at level 13 bears any relevance in your arsenal by level 30.

9 Wonders of Weather

While there are lots of mods that aim to improve the overall quality of Skyrim's weather effects, none aim for the same effect as Wonders of Weather. This mod adds choice touches to the forecast in a manner that heightens immersion without drastically overhauling the entire system.

Some of these additions are quite noticeable, such as shooting stars and rainbows. Other changes are more subtle but equally appreciable, like the small splashes on flat surfaces when it's raining.

8 Frostfall

Have you ever played Skyrim and found yourself thinking, "this would be a lot more believable if I suffered from severe hypothermia?" That's what Frostfall is for! This uber-popular immersion mod adds temperature effects to Skyrim which can have drastic repercussions for your character. No longer can you stride through the northern tundra in a freezing blizzard in naught but your skivvies and expect no penalty.

Frostfall makes wearing the appropriate clothes and building up a tolerance to the cold a key component of gameplay. Fail to abide by Mother Nature's harsh rules, and you'll fast become a popsicle.

7 Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul

Most vanilla NPCs don't have a lot going on upstairs if you take our meaning. Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul remedies this by smartening up Skyrim's populace.

Combat AI, scheduling, travel, and reactions to their environs all get a bump in quality. You'll spot the qualitative difference quickly — a midnight downpour without Immersive Citizens doesn't seem to bother even the elderly as they stroll along their merry way, but they'll be among the first to step inside their domiciles now.

6 Immersive Fallen Trees

The province of Skyrim is lush and lovely. Toss in a few graphical mods, and it really comes alive, but why stop there? Immersive Fallen Trees adds a subtle but serious layer of immersion to Skyrim by injecting strategically placed fallen trees throughout the landscape to make the environment feel older and more organic.

RELATED: The Elder Scrolls: Who Is Talos?

Certain fallen trees can even be used to cross waterfalls. It might not sound like much, but paired with several other immersion mods, Immersive Fallen Trees punches above its weight.

5 Skyrim Battle Aftermath

For a province supposedly in the midst of a civil war, it sure feels uneventful! Skyrim Battle Aftermath makes the conflict between the Stormcloaks and Imperials feel almost too real by adding battlefields across the realm that showcase the feud's unabashed brutality.

Corpses litter the ground, helmets are thrust on spikes, dead horses and carriages are strewn about, and arrows pinprick the landscape. It's a memorable moment, stumbling upon one of these sites of carnage, which helps to drive home the immediacy of Skyrim's woes.

4 Blowing in the Wind

Weather is a major part of the Skyrim experience, and with it comes a whole lot of wind. Blowing In The Wind is a simple mod that causes signs and lanterns to flap about in strong winds, creating a sense of realism when the weather gets brutal.

It's certainly a step up from the static nature of these elements in the vanilla game, providing a realistic visual response to the ear-piercing gusts coming in from the northern seas.

3 iNeed - Food, Water And Sleep

Left to their own devices, your Skyrim characters will last for years on end without having to gobble down so much as a single sweet roll. What kind of realism is that? iNeed rectifies this problem by adding in real-world needs that you must take into account.

RELATED: Skyrim: 10 Most Stylish Armor Sets, Ranked

Food, water and sleep are now vital not just to your survival, but your overall health as well. Where you sleep will affect how you feel the next day, and can have a direct impact on your stats. By measuring these things accordingly and keeping your player in tip-top shape, you'll be better equipped to handle the world around you.

2 Wet and Cold

Wet and Cold tacks on a variety of weather-focused effects onto your main character and other NPCs. Emerging from a body of water will cause you to drip all over the place while breathing in cold weather will produce moisture from the mouth.

RELATED: Skyrim: The Top Sound & Music Mods So Far

Snow can build up on your armor and clothing during a blizzard, while strong winds can have a deteriorating effect on your movement speed. Combined with Frostfall, this mod can really draw you into the harshness of Skyrim and its unpredictable weather patterns.

1 Visible Favorited Gear

The Favorites function allows you to quickly hot-swap a variety of items with a simple keyboard press. Why not take it a step further? Visible Favorited Gear displays your favorite items on your character, which greatly adds to the immersive experience.

Why shouldn't that huge broadsword be featured on your back along with the other items you've favorited? Naturally, this mod does require a bit of common sense, and it can be a tad finicky sometimes, but it's a great one for showing off all that dangerous weaponry you're packing.

Immersive Fast Travel - SWIFT For SSE

In this article I'd like to talk a bit about the new mod, Hearthfire: Wayshrines and how it came to be and also about the many different types of game mods for skyrim. For those who are unfamiliar with this particular mod, it is a new system for handling skyrim's vanilla assets and most importantly those that have been integrated with the vanilla game, and most importantly, skyrim's unique look and feel. I'd like to talk about the different types of game mods for skim, specifically about what is meant by a mod and how this system was created and implemented. This article is going to discuss some of the major features of this system and how they relate to the game. If you would like to skip the information on the different modders and just jump straight into the content I'm going to talk about now, then please keep reading.

One of the most important things about this type of mod is that it adds real travel time and a more realistic time line to skim. I've played several games where I've gotten a little frustrated because sometimes I didn't know if I had time to complete a certain quest or if I needed to go somewhere else to get it done. With this type of mod, all of the relevant time lines were implemented and it was completely clear what needs to be done in order to make this happen. You can actually travel around as if there were multiple timescales because each time frame is made to look and feel very natural. There are several different types of mods for skim but what I'd like to talk about today are two of the most popular, and that is the Wayshrines and the Skunning guilds.

The Wayshrines mod is a very small feature compared to the overhaul of the game that it is replacing. What it does is allow you to enter specific buildings that are related to specific objectives in skyrim. For instance, if you are searching for the Wayfarer's Way, then you can enter the Wayfarer's Hall and search through the various rooms that are there. That way, the whole process of going about the game is made much smoother and easier for the player thanks to this great mod. There are a few other great skim mods such as the Skooming guilds mod which makes your skim experience even more immersive, and finally, the Skimming Through dialogue option which skims the different lines and phrases used by actors in skyrim's dialogue.

Starfield: How To Fast Travel Without Menus

O ne of the most infuriating parts of Starfield is the space travel. I spent far too many skill points buffing my spaceships before realising that, aside from dogfights that feel straight out of Star Trek , your meticulously-upgraded spacecraft is little more than another base you’ve built to craft on the go. Unless…

Starfield is very tutorial-light. It may not feel like it, with the stuttering pace of the opening, but there are so many systems to get to grips with in the game that explaining them all would take hours. Whether you’re building your own spacecraft from scratch or just trying to use your base to mine minerals, you’ll have to do a lot of trial and error before you work out how things work and what your limitations are. The same goes for sailing the stars.

Related: Baldur's Gate 3 Ruined Starfield For Me

Many players, myself included, lamented the lack of ‘proper’ space travel in the game. There’s a reason one of our guide writers spent four hours trying to fly from Mars’ orbit to the planet itself , only for the game to pull him up a kilometre short.

The only way to get from planet to planet is via fast travel. The same goes for getting from orbit to a planet’s surface, from a planet to a moon, or (perhaps more understandably) from system to system. Open the menu, navigate to the map, select the system, planet, and landing area you want, hold X, cutscene and loading screen ensues. Et voila, you have arrived at your destination. It’s tedious, boring, and completely fails to immerse you in the universe Bethesda has created.

While ‘exploring’ Starfield, I often thought back to playing Skyrim, and the excitement of stumbling upon new towns, encampments, and caves along my way. From the moment you emerge out of the Helgen tunnels, you’re immersed in Tamriel. You see the animals and the streams, the people and the quests, you kill a chicken and fight off an entire enraged village. It pulls you in immediately, and a lot of that comes down to the fact you’re forging your own path on foot. You look at the mountains yourself, maybe you try to climb one. You follow a fox to some loot. You explore the world of Skyrim at your own pace, on your own two feet, and see the world as you would explore it in real life.

Conversely, Starfield immerses you in its story by sending you deep into a mine. It’s the opposite of what most people want to do in the game – I want to fly among the stars, not get a second job going down ‘pit – and it’s boring. It’s immediately followed by a big fight, which prepares you for exactly what to expect with this game, and then you’re finally let loose to fast travel the stars. It’s incredibly underwhelming, and the less-than-stellar travel is the biggest disappointment in a dull opening.

However, Bethesda hides one key part of space travel: your scanner. You know that piece of equipment that allows you to check whether a pile of ore on a planet is Aluminium or Titanium? Yeah, you can use that in space. And when you do, a host of new options open up.

Pressing LB when piloting your ship to open your scanner. Now you can check what minerals meteorites are made of before you blow them up to harvest them (yeah, you can do that too), but you can also see tags on visible planets in your system.

Want to travel from Earth to the Moon – sorry, from Earth to Luna ? Open your scanner and you can press X right from your pilot’s seat to initiate that fast travel sequence. This can go surprisingly far within a system, and is far more immersive than the usual menu-filled method. Yes, you’re still travelling via loading screen, but it feels better to plot your course in real space than in a gamified menu.

You can also fast travel directly to your selected quest this way, by hovering over the blue quest marker which appears in the galaxy. Of course, you’ll need to abide by the usual fast travel rules requiring you to have travelled the route to the system before, but it still feels good.

Space travel in Starfield still isn’t great, but utilising your onboard scanner makes it a little more immersive than the menu method of fast travel that most of us have used for our playthroughs so far.

Fast Travel is a method of travel in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is a way of quickly "teleporting" to any previously discovered location. The travel takes place almost instantaneously in real-world time through a loading screen, but in game time will still pass by as if the Dragonborn had walked there. When using fast travel, the time elapsed may be longer than the time it would have taken ...

Clockwork Castle also has a fast travel system that you unlock during the quest. Finally, I just got Dev Aveza (K747 version + Tissendel's interior) so I can now literally fly around the map. LotD's version of Dev Aveza acts more like traditional fast travel than the original but provides another way to do so.

Truly Immersive Fast Travel Times! PC Classic - Mod. There aren't many ways to add a sense of scale into Skyrim, but one of the ways to do so is by altering travel times. 22. Mods for a "No Fast Travel" Playthrough for SSE : r/skyrimmods

In Morrowind, fast travel was more strategic and less precise. I doubt very much that anyone would play Skyrim without any fast travel at all for any length of time. 27. What games make you avoid fast travel? : r/gaming

Most modern games are designed with instant fast travel in mind, so it's actually harder than it used to be to play games that way. Morrowind comes to mind as an example where fast travel is possible but requires you to go between silt strider stations and pay for the passage. That little bit of extra friction goes a long way for immersion.
