In support of Arcade Fire's sixth studio album We , which dropped today (May 6), the band have revealed their plans to embark on a World Tour this fall. The group's last documented setlist to date was on April 29 at KOKO in London, England. The concert, which was live-streamed on Twitch, marked the venue's first live show back after rebuilding from a fire. See the setlist here .

The 2022 tour dates will kick off in Dublin on August 30 and wrap up December 1 in Toronto. Arcade Fire's North American leg of the WE tour is set to kick off October 28 in Washington D.C.. Support for the North American leg will include an acoustic performance from Beck. Feist is slated as support for their European shows.

Arcade Fire World Tour Announce North American Dates To Feature A Special Acoustic Performance By Beck, European Dates To Feature Special Guest Feist

Following the universally rapturous reception to singles “The Lightning I, II” and “Unconditional I (Lookout Kid),” Arcade Fire’s “excellent sixth album” ( The New Yorker )  WE  is released to the world in its entirety today, May 6th 2022, via Columbia Records at  http://af.lnk.to/_we .

WE ’s release coincides with the announcement of  Arcade Fire’s fall world tour . In the wake of surprise underplays including New Orleans’ Toulouse Theatre, New York’s Bowery Ballroom, Coachella’s Mojave Tent and KOKO in London, the WE world tour will bring the full production of Arcade Fire’s “must-see live act” ( Variety ) experience to global stages, launching in Dublin on Tuesday, August 30th and running through December 1st in Toronto. The North American leg of the WE tour — featuring very special guest  Beck  playing a nightly acoustic set — will kick off October 28th in Washington D.C., while Europe will include special guest  Feist  for all shows.

Tickets for all dates will be on sale to the public beginning Friday, May 13th at 10am local time. Arcade Fire Announces World Tour Alongside Release Of New Album, ‘WE’ [Stream]

Arcade Fire  celebrated the release of WE , its first new album in five years, on Friday with the announcement of a world tour. This summer and fall will see the indie veterans perform throughout Europe and North America, with  Feist  opening abroad and  Beck  playing solo acoustic sets to start the rest.

WE marks the culmination of a gradual awakening for Arcade Fire. The saga began back in March with the abrupt release of “The Lightning I” and “The Lightning II”, the band’s first new output since 2017’s  Everything Now . Another single followed, as well as a run of pop-up shows at New York City’s  Bowery Ballroom . In the midst of the excitement, however,  Will Butler  revealed he had left the band at the end of 2021  after the new album was complete. The group soldiered on, performing a surprise set at  Coachella , and will now embark on its first tour since 2018. The band will also perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live  tomorrow, May 7th, with host Benedict Cumberpatch .

After performing throughout Europe in August and September, Arcade Fire will return to North America on October 28th for a show at The Anthem  in Washington, D.C. The group will play major markets including NYC (11/4), Boston, MA (11/8); Chicago, IL (11/12); Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA (11/16, 11/19); and Seattle, WA (11/22) before finishing out the tour with a trio of shows in its native Canada with stops in Vancouver, BC (11/25); Edmonton, AB (11/27); and Toronto, ON (12/1).

Take I-90 East to the Madison Street exit and make a right onto Madison Street. The building will be on your left.

Take I-55 North to the Damen exit and make a left, going northbound for approximately 7 minutes. The building will be on your right.

Take Madison Street west from the Loop.

Take I-290 East to exit 28A (Damen Avenue). Take Damen Avenue north to Madison Street. Make a right onto Madison Street and the building will be on your right.

Public Transportation

Take the Orange, Green, Purple, or Brown lines to Madison. Take #20 Madison buses west.

To the United Center : The #19 United Center Express Bus runs on game days. Service begins 90 minutes prior to game time, runs every 10 minutes until 30 minutes until start of game. Board at stops starting southbound on Michigan and Randolph. Connections are made with Metra trains at Millennium Station, Ogilvie Center and Union Station. The #20 Madison Bus travels west on Madison Street, starting downtown at Wabash Street and runs every few minutes, making all stops to the United Center.

From the United Center : The #19 United Center Express and the #20 Madison buses run every few minutes, departing from the eastbound side of Madison Street. Buses make all stops.

Suites Parking

Two reserved parking passes will be valid in lots C and K. The other two reserved parking passes will be for parking in lots A, B, D, or L. Holders of these passes will be directed to A, B, D, or L lots by traffic police and parking attendants based on traffic conditions. Parking passes are good for one space each. All parking passes are mobile entry only.

For all special events, each Executive Suite Holder will receive two complimentary parking passes per event ordered. These two passes will be for reserved parking located in lots C and K. In addition, Executive Suite Holders will also receive the option to purchase four additional parking passes in lots C and K for special events.

Suite Holder parking passes are also valid for buses or limousines under specific guidelines.

Lexus Club Parking

Lexus Club Seat members have reserved parking in fenced, well-lit and clearly marked parking lots adjacent to the United Center for all Blackhawks or Bulls preseason, regular season and playoff games. All Lexus Club members who purchase tickets to other events may also purchase one preferred parking pass (in lot C or K) for such events. Details on how to obtain parking for other events are included with the fax transmission announcing each event.

Lexus Club Seat members with two to four tickets receive a complimentary, reserved parking space in a closed-in, paved lot for all Blackhawks or Bulls preseason, regular season and playoff games. Lexus Club Seat members with five seats or more will be provided with two parking passes.

UBER ZONE FAQs:

What is the Uber Zone (Lot E) at the United Center? To increase and streamline the fan experience for guests who take Uber to and from the United Center, the new Uber Zone is located at the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street (Lot E) and will combine the three former Uber locations around the arena. Traffic leading to the three prior Uber pickup locations 1) Zone A, previously located on Wood Street & Washington Blvd. near Lot A, 2) Zone D, previously located on Monroe Street & S. Paulina Street near Lot D and 3) Zone F, previously located on Monroe Street & Seeley Ave. near Lot F will now be directed towards the one new Uber Zone in Lot E.

What is the location of the Uber Zone? The new Uber Zone at the United Center is located on the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street. Fans will enter and exit through the sidewalk entrance located on Madison Street and cars will enter the lot by turning into the Uber Zone from Madison Street. Cars will exit on Warren Blvd.

What are the hours of operation? On event days, the Uber Zone is open two hours prior to games, concerts and events and will remain open up to one hour after each event. On non-event days, the Uber Zone will be closed and Uber rides will be dropped off near the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street outside of the Uber Zone.

What is the pickup process for fans?

• Using the Uber app, fans inside the United Center will call an Uber ride.
• Guests will then head to the new Uber Zone located at the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street in front of the United Center.
• When arriving, fans will show the Uber attendant the lane number their driver is in.
• Fans will be shown the location where their Uber vehicle is located to start their next journey.

What is the dropoff process for fans? When Uber drivers arrive with guests at the United Center, they will be instructed to pull into the Uber Zone from the Madison Street side to drop off fans. Once exiting the vehicle, guests will walk out of the main entrance located on the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street. Guests can cross the street to the United Center and are encouraged to enter through the East Atrium.

Arcade Fire Are Back To Redeem Us With ‘We’

When Arcade Fire first came roaring out of Montreal with their firmament-strafing debut, Funeral, in 2004, they promised something new, exciting, and somewhat contradictory: heroic, culturally significant indie rock. A significance-deprived world ate it right up. This band didn’t just musically honor Springsteen, U2, and Bowie in the coming years, they became those artists’ peers and collaborators. Sometimes they’ve lived up to the high expectations they set for themselves, and sometimes they haven’t. Album’s like 2007’s Neon Bible and 2010’s The Suburbs were potent expressions of underdog rock gusto. 2013’s Reflektor engrossingly piloted their sound through two discs of arty disco, funk, and electro, suggesting anything from the Cure to Talking Heads. 2017’s Everything Now folded the dance textures back into the band’s rock roots, albeit somewhat less successfully (critics panned it with surprising uniformity). All the while, frontman Win Butler honed (some might say overworked) his main theme of alienation and emptiness in a world of instantaneous pleasure — doing for streaming-era overload what Springsteen had once done for working-class angst or U2 for humanist idealism.

In some ways, Arcade Fire’s sixth album feels very much like the sound of a band circling the wagons. Much of the music was written by Butler and Régine Chassagne, the married couple at the center of the band, without the rest of their bandmates, who could not work together due to Covid travel restrictions. Earlier this year, Win’s brother and co-founder Will Butler left the group. Attenuated community isn’t just a theme here; it’s a fact. When the singer observes, “It’s the age of doubt/I doubt we’ll figure it out,” on “Age of Anxiety I,” you might hear a whisper of autobiography mixed in with the socio-cultural reportage.

Despite its five-year gestation period, We chooses to default to comfortable places rather than push things forward. “Age of Anxiety I” begins as a tensely unfolding piano ballad and then opens into the kind of enveloping, heroically propulsive anthem that is Arcade Fire’s bread and butter. “Age of Anxiety II (Rabbit Hole)” opens similarly small-scale, then breaks into widening-gyre synth-rock. “End of the Empire I-IV” wraps its message of political/environmental/technological/you-name-it apocalypse in a grand, glum prog-glam processional à la early Bowie at his most maudlin. With producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck, etc.) on hand, the sense of sonic space and detail can be dazzling, even if the ultimate effect of the music is pro forma.

Butler is in safe space here lyrically as well as musically, holding strong against the forces of late-capitalist malaise. “Fight the fever with TV/In the age where nobody sleeps/And the pills do nothing for me,” he laments. Anyone who made it all the way through Reflektor or Everything Now will be ready for Butler’s prognosis as to how we might snap out of our Netflix-induced stupor: “I unsubscribe!,” he sings in “End of the Empire I-IV” — adding, “Fuck season five!” in a flourish that’s so over-the-top, the sense of unencumbered self-parody is kind of sweet.

We is at its most endearing when the band gets more musically bright and tonally optimistic. The breakneck rock & roll of “The Lightning II” demands redemptive catharsis and delivers it, too. On “​​Unconditional II (Race and Religion),” Chassagne and Butler join together (with Peter Gabriel on backing vocals) over a disco beat to somehow convincingly turn the phrase “I’ll be your race and religion” into tinkly dancefloor elation. “Unconditional I (Lookout Kid)” offers useful advice to the couple’s young son over rolling folk-rock. The album’s closing title track hones in on romantic intimacy as a way to find cord-cutting freedom and sanity.

All of these gestures are deeply in earnest, and some of them even feel earned. But it’s hard not to hear We as the sound of a band hopefully setting things back in order, with better adventures to come.

Arcade Fire announce ‘WE’ world tour for 2022

Win Butler recently told NME he hopes it will be "the definitive Arcade Fire tour"

Arcade Fire have announced details of a new world tour, set to take place later this year in support of their new album ‘WE’ . Check out ticket details here .

The band released the record – their sixth so far – earlier today (May 6) and will hit the road in September, following on from one-off dates in New Orleans , New York , Coachella , and London in the run-up to the LP’s release.

The tour will kick off in Dublin on August 30, taking the group across the UK and into Europe throughout September. The North American leg of the tour will begin in Washington D.C. on October 28, running until a final stop in Toronto on December 1.

Arcade Fire will be joined by special guest Feist for the UK and European dates, while Beck will join them to play acoustic sets in North America.

Tickets for all tour dates will go on general sale to the public at 10am local time next Friday (May 13). Arcade Fire has partnered with the social and environmental justice non-profit PLUS1 on the tour to ensure that £1/$1/€1 from every ticket will go to KANPE , a foundation committed to supporting the most vulnerable communities in Haiti.

The band have also spoken to NME for this week’s Big Read cover story , discussing the making of ‘WE’, the departure of band member Will Butler and their upcoming tour plans. In the interview, frontman Win Butler said he hopes the 2022 dates would represent “the definitive Arcade Fire tour”.

Arcade Fire will serve as the musical guest on tomorrow’s (May 7) episode of Saturday Night Live , which will be guest hosted by actor Benedict Cumberbatch. In a new promo clip, the actor attempts to present the segment according to the script , but his efforts are scuppered by cast member Ego Nwodim and the members of Arcade Fire.

Last week (April 29), the band played the reopening of London’s iconic KOKO venue – marking their first live appearance in the UK since 2018. You can read the NME review of the gig here .

In a four-star review of ‘WE’ , NME said: “Our global journey from fear to appreciation is played out in what Arcade Fire themselves accurately describe as a “concise 40-minute epic”. Philosophically, they haven’t been so focussed since 2010’s ‘The Suburbs’, nor so musically dramatic since 2007’s ‘Neon Bible’. Subscribe.”

After a triumphant Saturday Night Live set, Arcade Fire have announced the dates for the upcoming tour in support of the group’s new album, WE . The U.K./European leg of the outing will launch on Aug. 30 in Dublin, and runs through dates in London, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Berlin and Warsaw before jumping to the U.S. for a fall swing.

The North American dates will kick off on Oct. 28 at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., with slated stops in Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, B.C., and a Dec. 1 date at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The U.K./European dates will feature opening sets from Feist, with Beck on board to perform acoustic sets on the North American gigs. Tickets for the shows will go on sale on Friday (May 13).

The band’s fifth appearance on SNL for the Mother’s Day show included a pair of songs from their just-release sixth album, as well as a powerful message about abortion rights. Their first performance ran through “Unconditional I (Lookout Kid),” which contained a special Mother’s Day tribute, as well as a second, titanic, run through the scorched earth rocker “The Lightning I, II,” which ended with singer Win Butler making a statement about abortion rights in light of the May 2 leak of a Supreme Court draft decision signaling the possible overturning of the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion ruling.
