The Xyrillians were a spacefaring humanoid species from the planet Xyrillia . In 2151 , the Enterprise (NX-01) made first contact with a Xyrillian spaceship that was riding in Enterprise's wake for a brief time. It eventually caused several power malfunctions on the Earth spaceship, however the Xyrillians were only trying to fuel their warp coils with the plasma exhaust. ( ENT episode : " Unexpected ")

Xyrillians have distinct dermal plates, and they show signs of harmless bioelectric energy when they touch other people. Their high-pressure atmosphere is hallucinogenic to most species, and as a result most other humanoids need to be weaned onto and off their atmosphere to avoid undesired effects. ( ENT episode : " Unexpected ")

They also seem to be somewhat telepathic by using certain granules to either enhance or provide the effect in the first place. This procedure of granule-induced telepathic interaction is considered a game, though it is possible that Xyrillians impregnate each other during it. It also works with other species, and most likely on both genders. In 2151 , Commander Charles Tucker III was impregnated this way, and he successfully carried an embryo for at least one month. The embryo, a female one, appeared to be in healthy condition, and was later transferred to a Xyrillian host. ( ENT episode : " Unexpected ")

It is to be noted, that the Xyrillians were using highly sophisticated holography. They were capable of recreating various places and landscapes from their homeworld , as well as other planets, if provided with necessary topographical information. In 2151, they exchanged this holographic technology with the Klingon Empire after a demonstration in which they created the Klingon homeworld. ( ENT episode : " Unexpected ")

In the 2260s , Starfleet was attempting to adapt Xyrillian duplication chambers for use aboard Federation starships. ( TOS novel : The Case of the Colonist's Corpse )

By the 24th century , Xyrillia eventually became a member of the United Federation of Planets . ( TOS novel : Captain's Glory )

It seems to have been forgotten that Trip was a father before he and T'Pol had a child. I ask: "What happen to Trip's baby girl?" It happen in season one Episode 5: Unexpected. Where he and a Xyrillian female created the first crossbreed in human and in Xyrillian history and no one seems to give a hoot. He goes back to the Xyrillian ship and they transfer the baby girl to a new host and the end. The baby is half human and Trip seem not to care as well as anyone else. It seems this historic event goes by as a footnote... It seems it was an attempt at humor in the episode... You know guy gets pregnant, joke...

I believe it's stated in the episode by Phlox that the child is actually not half-human and that the Xyrillian provided all of the genetic material while Trip simply acted as a surrogate for gestation. This is perhaps why Trip had no interest in keeping up with the child's affairs, since it technically wasn't his at all.

Oddish

Probably lived a peaceful and relatively ordinary life on the Xyrillian home world, just like quadrillions of other similar beings across the galaxy. Her only childhood trauma was when the story of her conception was told at family gatherings. Kind of like when your mom tells everyone that story about you biting the dog's nose because your older brother told you it was licorice.

star trek xyrillian

The Xyrillians are a peaceful, warp-capable species of humanoids .

Characterized by smooth, brown, scaly skin, their bodies' metabolisms are not based on water, nor does this species breathe an oxygen-based atmosphere. While traveling in space, Xyrillians grow edible vegetation on the bulkheads of their ships, and also have eel-like creatures swimming in tanks for consumption.

In 2151 , the Enterprise made first contact with a Xyrillian spaceship that was riding in Enterprise's wake for a brief time. Eventually, this caused several power malfunctions on the Earth spaceship. However the Xyrillians made their intentions clear, and professed they were only trying to fuel their own warp coils with the Enterprise' s plasma exhaust.

Their home star system and planet is named Xyrillia , located in the Alpha Quadrant . The system is a binary system with a A-class star and a F-class star.

Compared to other humanoids , this species' biology and physiology is considered unusual. The do not breathe oxygen, and their high-pressure atmosphere causes hallucinations to most other humanoid species. Humans are able to survive in their atmosphere, but must be weaned on and off in order to avoid any undesired effects. In turn, Xyrillians can also breathe a more typical- humanoid atmosphere, but must use a device similar to those that the Benzites use, or alternatively, undergo a constant series of injections.

Though documented as always technologically ahead of the Federation , Xyrillian ships typically grow edible vegetation on their bulkheads , as well as grow and store eel-like creatures in tanks in designated cargo bay -like holds. It is reasonable to believe that Xyrillians have food replicators, but prefer their food fresh.

Xyrillians also have dermal plating, which they believe are necessary for detecting each other's moods. They can also pass electricity to each other via tactile contact, though this was painless and could even be pleasant. Possibly, this can be seen similar to a playful pinch, or perhaps even flirting between two adults.

Reproduction

Xyrillian males usually carry their young to term in a pouch on the upper chest. They serve only as hosts, as offspring only contained genetic material from the mother. Impregnation is possible with only minor physical contact, and can be wholly unintentional on the mother's part. The impregnated male grows nutrient sacks similiar to Human mammory glands in their forearm while pregnant. Humans and Xyrillians are genetically compatible without medical intervention.

Since the Federation 's first encounter with the Xyrillians, they have been documented as technologically superior (as of 2151 ). At this time, they had the technology to simulate any environment they could envision (much like holodecks ), as well as advanced stealth technology for their starships that helped them remain hidden from any suspicious ships.

In 2151 , the Xyrillians exchanged their holographic technology with the Klingon Empire . It is uncertain what the Klingons gave them in return.

Ah'Len, a Xyrillian (ENT-05)

Alpha Quadrant species. The Xyrillians’ most distinctive physical characteristic was their colorful dermal plating . The Xyrillian ship encountered by the Enterprise NX-01 in 2151 had a bioluminescent enviroment, and an interesting grass that grew on the ship walls. This was actually food, and released a vapor necessary for metabolization. Though the Xyrillians required technical assistance from the Humans , they were quite advanced in some areas, and already had possession of holodeck technology. The Xyrillian Ah’len demonstrated this technology for Trip Tucker . Xyrillian reproduction involved placing the female’s genetic material into a male host. [ 1 ]

The Xyrillians were a peaceful, warp-capable species of humanoids.

By the 24th century they had became a member of the United Federation of Planets.

After the 50 days the population votes and the new Primal is selected. They will rule for 10 years. The individual who garnered the 2nd most votes becomes his observer and chief advisor.

Description

The Xyrillians most distinctive physical characteristic is their colorful dermal plating. There leather like skin is actually softer than it looks. They have no body hair at all and tend to have green eyes with black irises.

Xyrillians have an unusual physiology. They do not have a metabolism based on water or breathe an oxygen-based atmosphere. In fact, their high-pressure atmosphere is hallucinogenic to most species, and as a result most other humanoids need to be weaned onto and off their atmosphere to avoid undesired effects. When traveling, they grow vegetation on the walls of their ships.

Xyrillian males usually carry infants to term in a pouch on the upper chest. Impregnation can occur with only minor physical contact. Humans and Xyrillians are genetically compatible, as Commander Tucker discovered when he was impregnated by a Xyrillian female.

Exposure to normal atmospheres is dangerous to them. It triggers violent behaviors and random psychotic actions. In the long run it can also be fatal to them as their mental processes start to break down and they tend to become self destructive.

They have a passive religion that preaches self worth and harmony with their environment. While they all tend to follow this belief system it does not preclude them doing what is necessary in order for them to survive.

A unique series of tales regarding the origin of their species and their slow advancement into an early civilized society.

They suffer from very little crime and most of their people seek to improve both their own lives and the lives of those around them. They enjoy the natural environment and have built their cities to incorporate it into its makeup.

They have a diverse appreciation for music and art. Numerous alien art forms and musical styles have been observed and slowly adapted to their own use and enjoyment.

Their few customs all tend to be minor in nature. One example is for mated couples to select the drink and food for each other and then to exchange these items before dining.

The Xyrillians were, technologically, far superior to Humans in 2151. They had the technology to simulate any environment they could envision. (see holodeck). Even their ships were considered unusual in design.

They have a well developed economical home world and long standing trade agreements with a few species. They do not require any new trade partners and are completely self sufficient.

While they have never known war among themselves they were quickly exposed to it when they first explored space. As a result they created a vast series of defensive stations and satellites around their homeworld.

Featured Captain’s Log: Captain Rili’L, U.S.S. Persephone

Last time we looked at Captain Mimeer’non and the U.S.S. Poseidonis and his 2373 adventure . This time, I’m creating a new captain and crew for playing through the ‘Missions Beyond’ campaign here on Continuing Mission, and also incorporate parts of Sargon and Beyond and Operation Silk Roads . My goals are to:

  • Create a captain, starship, and crew that you can pick up and play immediately;
  • Take and update some characters from my Star Trek: Sojourner campaign that concluded a couple years back, as though it is a spin-off;
  • Pay tribute to classic characters and a ship dear to my heart.

I have chosen to set the era of play to 2378 , and promote Rili’L (a Xyrillian first introduced here on CM) to Captain. She was an integral part of my Sojourner campaign, and deserves the spotlight now. One potential issue is that she is Xyrillian, and breathes a different atmosphere. But following the Barzans’ breathing apparatuses seen on Star Trek: Discovery , it’s easy enough to adapt that technology for Xyrillians, solving the problem. I envision that the Captain’s quarters will still contain a Xyrillian atmosphere, but the breathing apparatus will let her go anywhere without a bulky EVA suit (which she may still wear as the occasion calls for it).

For the ship, I felt I needed something fond to my heart, and that would be the U.S.S. Persephone , created by our late friend, Walter Milani-Müller . We had collaborated on a 3D model of the Persephone -class during the pandemic, so I feel a deep connection to the ship class and already have a title sequence prepared for it. I have updated the stats of the Persephone using the Utopia Planitia Sourcebook (with 3 refits in 2378, as it was launched in 2348), and adjusted the title sequence below.

For the crew, I took a couple from my Sojourner campaign (Avisi Zomos, who originally appeared in the Poseidonis mission, and the Phlox Medical Hologram) for nostalgia and continuity, and also NPCs we have featured on our site (with stats adjusted to conform with CL character stats):

  • Executive Officer and Chief of Security : Commander Talas sh’Tharqat (Andorian)
  • Chief Engineer : Lieutenant Commander Cirrek (Benzite)
  • Chief Medical Officer : Lieutenant Erix Kaedn (Eavarnian)
  • Science Officer : Lieutenant Avisi Zomos (Arkenite)
  • Flight Controller : Lieutenant (j.g.) Konal Odutan (Betazoid)
  • Operations Manager : Ensign Charline Mathers (Human)
  • Emergency Medical Hologram : Phlox Medical Hologram (Modified EMH Mark I)

A few notes: as the U.S.S. Persephone is a small ship, Commander Talas sh’Tharqat serves as both the XO and the Chief of Security. The Phlox Medical Hologram is a unique hologram arising out of unexpected circumstances, and Rili’L, an expert in holographic technology, was part of the Phlox hologram’s creation and feels a strong connection between them and obligation to look after him. Since the stats have been corrected, use the numbers on the PDF here, but read up on each NPC’s backstory as they may inspire personalities and story hooks. For their Focuses, two of the six are left blank for you to add in play.

Below are Captain Rili’L’s file and a U.S.S. Persephone crew file. If you would like to do a Captain’s Log run with the U.S.S. Persephone in 2378 but with your own custom captain, I have included a version of the Captain’s Log sheet that omits the Captain’s stats but retains the Persephone ‘s stats.

Take the U.S.S. Persephone wherever you want on its new Captain’s Log adventures, with Rili’L, with the crew here, or your own captain and crew! Let us know how your adventures go.

Xyrillian biology doesn't require either water or oxygen for its metabolism. They live on a very dense, high-pressured atmosphere. Curiously, despite the fact that Xyrillians are not oxygen-breathers, Humans can still survive in their atmosphere without the need for a space-suit, but will suffer from hallucinogic effects if they don't spend some time in a "weaning chamber" before entering it. Also oddly, due to biological differences, Humans seem to be able to eat Xyrillian food and even become pregnant with Xyrillian offspring.

Xyrillian copulation can occur with minimal physical contact between male and female. After it, it is the male who becomes pregnant, carrying the offspring in a pouch in the upper chest region. According to Dr. Phlox's analysis, males of this species serve only as hosts, and the offspring only contains genetic material from its mother. Human Starfleet officer Charles Tucker was once impregnated by a female Xyrillian, and the embryo started developing inside his body. Even more oddly is that Tucker developed a nipple on his wrist. Whether this was a weird reaction of the Human body or a natural one which occurs in Xyrillian males as well is unclear, but the former seems more likely since Xyrillian females have breasts, indicating that they nourish the young.

Xyrillian starships are of rather interesting design, and their internal walls are used to grow edible vegetation, which gives them a peculiarly organic look. There is also an aquarium filled with several eel-like creatures swimming freely. Whether these are also used for food, are simply decorative or have yet other functions is still unclear. Xyrillians have amazing stealth technology and have also developed holodeck technology long before Humans, Vulcans or Klingons , although in 2151 they did give this technology to Klingons in payment for not being destroyed after the Xyrillian starship was discovered secretly hiding within the warp plasma field of a Klingon ship and trying to use the Klingons' plasma wake to generate power, since the Xyrillians were having trouble with their own engines.

Star Trek Isn’t Supposed To Have Money: What Is Latinum?

I don't care if modern star trek breaks established canon, "i finally found you": star trek's beverly & wesley crusher reunion is a tragic twist for wil wheaton's character.

Warning: contains spoilers for Star Trek #23!

Star Trek has revealed Trelane’s final words, as the Original Series god finally dies. For the past two years, IDW’s line of Star Trek comics has explored the relationship between mortals and their gods–including Trelane. Now, a dark and evil force threatens both the gods and the entire universe, and in Star Trek #23, Trelane falls victim to it, but not before uttering some chilling last words.

Star Trek #23 – written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, with art by – ratchets up the stakes of the current "Pleroma" arc considerably. The evil android Lore, now in possession of the Bajoran Orb of Destruction, has crashed a gathering of the gods in their home dimension . Lore quickly disposes of Charlie X , and threatens the rest. Lore makes good on his promise,

Trelane begs for someone to “ save the precious boy. ”

Trelane's Star Trek Origins, Explained

Trelane, and the rest of the gods, are under fire.

Trelane, introduced in the first season Star Trek episode “The Squire of Gothos,” is a child, but an immensely powerful one. In his sole television appearance, Trelane toyed with the crew of the Enterprise. During the course of the episode, it was revealed Trelane was a child . He might have succeeded in having his way with the Enterprise if not for the intervention of his parents, who whisked him away back to his home dimension, presumably the Pleroma. Despite only one appearance, Trelane made a huge impression on fans, who speculated he may have a connection to the Q.

Trelane was played by William Campbell, who would go on to play the Klingon captain Koloth in the second season Star Trek episode "The Trouble With Tribbles."

“The Pleroma,” the current storyline running in Star Trek , has seemingly dispensed with the idea that Trelane is a Q, but it still shows him to be very powerful. A century has passed since Kirk and Spock first met Trelane, and he has shown little sign of growth or development . Trelane’s appearances in the buildup to Lore’s attack on the Pleroma continued to depict him as a whiny and petulant brat, to the point other members of the Council looked down on him. Unlike Charlie X, who is also a young god, Trelane has remained the same.

Trelane Is Gone from the Star Trek Universe

Will trelane's parents avenge him.

The story has not yet shown Trelane’s parents, who must now contend with the fact they were not there for their son as Lore killed him.

And now, thanks to Lore, Trelane will never get the chance to realize his full potential, as the evil android slaughters him and his compatriots. Despite Trelane’s surly demeanor, he is still a living being who deserved better than what he got . The story has not yet shown Trelane’s parents, who must now contend with the fact they were not there for their son as Lore killed him. Star Trek’s “God War" has pulled no punches in showing the horrors Kahless and Lore have unleashed, and Trelane’s last, heart-breaking words may be its most gut-wrenching moment yet.
