2024 Tour de France begins June 29 and includes historic firsts. Everything to know

The Paris Olympics and Paralympics will not be the only prestigious international sporting event held in France this summer. 

The Tour de France, the preeminent event on the men’s cycling calendar, will return for its 111th edition from June 29 to July 21. During the three-week ride, 176 cyclists, representing 22 teams of eight, will complete 21 stages across hilly, flat and mountainous terrain. The course includes a grueling 52,230 meters (over 170,000 feet) of elevation gain and is 3,492 kilometers (2,170 miles) long. The taxing schedule includes only two rest days. 

This year’s race will start in Florence, Italy, and conclude at the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France. It will be the first time the finish line is not in or near Paris because the city will be hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games. And the first time since 1975 the race will not finish on the Champs-Élysées.

The final stage will also break from tradition as it will be one of two time trial stages, which means the leader could be determined in the final leg. The last time the Tour de France ended with a time trial was in 1989.

In addition to Italy and France, the route passes through San Marino and Monaco. The route is famous for its picturesque scenery, from quaint rural villages to the towering Alps. 

Each stage is timed, and the rider with the lowest cumulative time across all stages wins the acclaimed maillot jaune, or yellow jersey, to signify the general classification winner. Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard, 27, hopes to seek a coveted three-peat but is still working his way back from a serious crash that hospitalized him for 12 days in April. If he does race, he will face fierce competition from a talented field that includes 2020 and 2021 winner Tadej Pogača of Slovenia.

Separate awards are also given to the best sprinter, climber and young cyclist. 

Sepp Kuss, who finished as the top American in 12th place at last year’s Tour de France, is also set to return. Like last year, he will race on the same team as Vingegaard. 

How to watch the 2024 Tour de France live

All stages of the Tour de France, as well as pre- and post-race coverage, will be available to stream live on Peacock. USA Network will also stream some of the stages. 

NBC will simultaneously broadcast select stages of the event. 

Stage 1 will begin June 29 at 6 a.m. ET. The rest of the stages typically start between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. ET.

Justin timberlake has no rehab plans, focusing on tour, justin timberlake no plans for rehab ... focusing on world tour.

Justin Timberlake isn't nearly as concerned about his DWI case as some fans are, because he's not following the typical celeb playbook after such an arrest ... TMZ has learned.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... Justin has no plans to check into a rehab facility following Tuesday morning's arrest in Sag Harbor, NY. It's not uncommon for Hollywood types to take proactive steps after a drug or alcohol-related arrest to look good before a judge.

Voluntarily seeking treatment in rehab or alcohol education classes can put them in a position for a better plea deal, but Justin has a different plan, and, perhaps ... for good reason.

As we've reported, Justin has no prior arrest record, and as for the alcohol -- our sources say he has no history of drinking irresponsibly, despite recent reports suggesting the opposite. People who've spent years around the singer tell us they've never known him to have a problem, and he's typically in control while out in public.

That's a vast departure from a situation like say, Lindsay Lohan 's in 2007. The former child star checked into Promises Treatment Center in Malibu after she was arrested for drinking and driving in Bev Hills. The judge ended up forcing her to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet, but she avoided jail time.

One other factor in Justin's game plan is that he's in the middle of a world tour, with the next stop coming Friday at Chicago's United Center ... and, as we've told you, he's hitting the stage , as scheduled. The tour runs through the end of the year -- heading to Europe and then back to the U.S. -- with only a few short breaks.

All of that adds up to Justin pushing forward professionally, and we're told he's leaving the DWI case to his lawyer Edward Burke Jr. ... who's already said he plans to fight the arrest .

That's what all good defense lawyers say, but the reality is Justin and prosecutors will almost certainly work out a plea deal ... and Burke made it clear they're anxious to see the police body cam footage of the arrest.

When cops pulled over Justin -- for allegedly blowing a stop sign and swerving -- the singer claimed he'd only had one martini during dinner with friends.

The arresting officer claimed to smell alcohol on his breath, and they say he did poorly on the field sobriety test -- but, because JT refused to take a breathalyzer -- the body cam will be key in determining what kind of plea deal he gets.

BTW, his next court date is set for July 26, which happens to coincide with his scheduled concert in Kraków, Poland -- so, don't be shocked if the hearing's rescheduled, or if the case is completely settled by then.

That's just how it goes for first-time offenders, even if they don't play the rehab card.

SNYDE | Justin Timberlake world tour may be disrupted by court dates for DWI charges

The “Selfish” singer , 43, whose mugshot was released Tuesday afternoon after his arraignment, is scheduled to appear in court on July 26, Us Weekly reports.

July 26 also marks the first of two consecutive shows the NSYNC alum is slated to perform in Kraków, Poland as part of his “ Forget Tomorrow World Tour.” No word yet on the fate of those two shows, as well as those in Berlin the following week.

Timberlake was arrested early Tuesday in Sag Harbor, after sailing past a stop sign in his  2025 gray BMW UT. The singer was pulled over just blocks from where he’d reportedly been partying at The American Hotel.

The pop star repeatedly refused to take a chemical test behind bars and failed numerous field sobriety tests, according to court filings obtained by the Daily News.

“I had one martini, and I followed my friends home,” the “Cry Me a River” singer told cops, according to prosecutors.

“It was ascertained that the defendant was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition,” read the filing. “His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed badly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

Per the court docs, the pop star was read his Miranda rights and refused to speak to officers but remained calm.

Timberlake was arrested just ahead of shows scheduled for Chicago’s United Center on Thursday and Friday, as well as June 25 and June 26 performances at Madison Square Garden — none of which has yet been canceled.

Timberlake has had a rough go of it in recent years, beginning when he was photographed in late 2019 getting cozy with co-star Alisha Wainwright , despite his marriage to Jessica Biel, and their young family .

Last year, Timberlake was taken to task in ex-girlfriend Britney Spears’ explosive memoir, “The Woman in Me,” for the abortion she says she underwent during their early aughts relationship, as well as allegedly cheating on the “Toxic” singer.

Comme chaque année, 21 étapes sont au programme du Tour de France 2024 .

Le programme de l'édition 2024 est composé de huit étapes de plaine, quatre étapes accidentées, sept étapes de montagne dont quatre arrivées en altitudes et deux contre-la-montre individuels.

Au total, la Grande Boucle fait 3 498 km cette année entre un départ inédit d'Italie, à Florence et une arrivée encore jamais vue avec un contre-la-montre entre Monaco et Nice. Cela veut dire que le maillot jaune pourrait se jouer sur le dernier jour de course, comme la dernière fois que le Tour s’est terminé sur un contre-la-montre. C'était en 1989, quand Greg Lemond avait remonté un déficit de 50 secondes sur Laurent Fignon pour s'imposer avec seulement 8 secondes d’avance, le plus faible écart de la grande histoire de la Grande Boucle.

Le point culminant du Tour de France 2024 sera à la cime de la Bonette avec ses 2 802 m d'altitude qui en font la plus haute route asphaltée de l'Hexagone.
