We had a great time on our mini cruise. The boat was so relaxing, we had our own personal guide who explained a lot about the area and what we were seeing as we went by different sites. Well worth the money

About Fort Sumter Tours & Boat Cruises Charleston SC
Hospitality is our Family Business!
Two generations of the Campsen family have owned and operated Fort Sumter Tours, Inc. since 1961. In 1986, the business expanded to include dinner cruises, harbor tours, and charter operations. This set of boat tour offerings has grown over the years, and is currently operated by SpiritLine Cruises, LLC. However, the Campsen family’s Charleston roots and seafaring traditions go back much further than their 50+ years of tour company history.

Historic Family Traditions
John Campsen, the great-great grandfather of our company’s founder, George E. Campsen, Jr., immigrated to Charleston from Hanover, Germany, during the mid-1880s. He was captain of a German merchant ship engaged in trade between Europe and the United States. These trade routes brought him to Charleston, one of the most prosperous cities in North America at the time. Seeking opportunities in the vibrant Charleston seaport, John Campsen emigrated to the area. He went on to found the Campsen-Claussen Bakery, eventually selling his share of the business to his partner.
John Campsen’s son, George John Campsen, was born in Charleston on July 28, 1861. He was the grandfather of company founder George E. Campsen, Jr. and commanded the life-saving station on Morris Island throughout the early 1890s. Captain George John Campsen was in command of Morris Island itself, and responsible for the operation of the lighthouse there. He passed away in 1894, lost in a storm at sea.
George’s grandson would carry on his seafaring tradition and pass it along to his own sons, George E. “Chip” Campsen and Richard Campsen, two current management team members. Joining them in the family business are his two sons-in-law, Rick Mosteller and Stan Seckinger. These gentlemen bring with them extensive experience in the areas of food and beverage service, hotel development and operations, and finance. They work together at the helm of both our businesses, creating an exceptional experience for our guests.

Spiritline Dinner Cruise Charleston
For anyone considering this cruise, I recommend having dinner at any one of the fine restaurants in Charleston and if you really would like a view of the harbor to consider a cruise without dinner. My partner and I did this cruise on 10/19/18. We were expecting the dinner. atmosphere and music that we had experienced on similarly priced dinner cruises in other locations. What a disappointment!!! Seated on the bottom floor, the dining room lights made viewing the harbor during dinner impossible. And the food was mediocre at best. And for the music, what can I say? Maybe if you like country western solo electric guitar and have a hearing problem that requires extreme amplification. (I don't).... The only positive was we had a very nice waitress, Kate (I believe) who appeared to understand our concerns. In summary, save your money and spend it elsewhere.
We used Spiritline to get to Ft. Sumter & back. They left on time, returned us on time, and did it safely and with no fuss. Can't ask for more than that - got exactly what we paid for and expected.
The food and atmosphere were amazing and the whole experience was life changing! I loved the view and experience I got from this trip. Would definitely recommend.
I booked the cruise for our group of 60. It was so nice. The staff was a well oiled machine! The views and the relaxing harbor, set the perfect pre-dinner mood! Highly recommend!
My new husband and I enjoyed a delightful, romantic evening aboard the SpiritLine Dinner Cruise. I booked online then called to ask questions about the menu and the lady who answered the phone was super helpful. I was worried because due to limited space we were unable to get a private table for 2 but we actually enjoyed meeting new friends and getting to know the others at our table & beside us. The food was OUTSTANDING and The views of the city were a sight to see. Book now! It’s a one of a kind evening; 5 star dining on the water!
Beautiful views, Excellent service and good food. My husband booked this cruise because I love going out on the water. It was a perfect evening so we could sit on the upper level after ordering our dinner and take in all the views. We had the ribeye, salmon and shrimp and grits and all were good and typical of what you would expect on a dinner cruise. The cream brûlée was excellent and not to be missed, however, the key lime pie was not very good in my opinion. Our server (can’t recall her name but she was from Minnesota) was excellent ! She was very friendly and efficient. The server at the next table unfortunately was not so skilled. I was shocked to hear her tell her table that the gratuity is based on the entire amount paid (because everyone had already paid for the meal just the extras like soft drinks, desserts and bar drinks had to be paid on the boat) in such a degrading manner. After hearing that, I hoped our server didn’t do the same as she had been so good. I shouldn’t have worried, when she gave my husband our check she never mentioned anything about the gratuity. There is a printed note on the receipt that mentions the tip and that is all that is needed. If I were the other table, I would be tempted to not leave the appropriate tip due to the condescending way she mentioned it. Being a server in my past, I would never dream of mentioning a tip to my customers. I think the team of servers need to be reminded that the note on every ones bill is sufficient. Also know that you cruise around the harbor in loops, you don’t go far out to sea but I would still recommend this for a relaxing evening out.
