The eight-pound WAYB Pico Portable Car Seat folds into a compact 11.6 x 14.5 x 18.9-inch unit—basically the size of a medium camping backpack—that’s easy enough to lift on its own, and better still when stowed in a backpack carrier you can buy for an additional $95.

“As someone who has traveled alone with the kids and had to mount a full-sized car seat on my back, this is life-altering,” says Baran.

My Top Gifts for Travelers for the Holidays

A small digital camera wrapped in Christmas lights in front of a bright pink background

Travelers can be a fickle group of people to buy gifts for. We’re constantly coming and going, we usually don’t carry a lot of stuff with us, and no two travelers are alike. Finding the perfect gift for the traveler in your life can be tricky.

While a plane ticket is never a bad idea (I’m a window seat in case anyone is thinking of getting me one), I’ve put together this ultimate gift guide for travelers as there’s a lot of great travel gear out there these days that helps people travel cheaper and better.

Even me, the gear-adverse traveler, likes a lot of this stuff!

This is stuff I actually think is super useful. No nonsense. No fluff. Just the best gifts for intrepid travelers and globetrotting nomads.

Improved luggage , travel shoes , dopp kits , and packing cubes make the journey about as enjoyable as the destination. Itineraries change and random adventures ensue, but you can rely on good travel items like these to make that work trip or vacation all the better.

So, if you're looking for a great gift for the traveler in your life, look no further than this list. We've got travel gifts for every kind of nomad, from kiddos to Grandpa and everybody in between. The best travel gifts heighten the experience and bring a bit of that familiar comfort from home along with you.

What do we mean? We're talking about gifts that will get some serious use and accrue a lot of frequent flier miles. For example, a sophisticated packing cube that separates clean clothes from dirty laundry ( Eagle Creek's Clean/Dirty Cube ) or a phone mount that attaches directly on to your tray table on the plane ( Perilogics' Airplane Phone Holder Mount ). And if the adventure needs an adventure, there are even rental companies like Polaris that can set one up with that vehicle (snowmobile, ATV, autocycle) they've always dreamed of driving.

best travel gift ideas

After trying countless products over 20 years of travel we’ve narrowed down the best gifts for travelers that have personally tested.   No matter what your budget is these travel gifts are great ideas for the travel enthusiast in your life. Looking for more travel gifts for frequent travelers? Check out these 32 Best Gifts for Outdoor Lovers and Adventurers

Best Gifts for Travelers under $100

1. apple air tags.

best gifts for travelers apple air tags

Lost luggage has become common and Apple Air Tags have been a huge help for finding our bags. We lost our luggage en route to an Alaskan cruise and actually sent the airline a screenshot of where our bag was in the airport. When looking for a travel gift, this is the most practical gift you can give. When you can’t travel carry on only, Apple Air Tags are a must-have travel gear item that helps give your loved one peace of mind.

2. Travel Packing Cubes

best travel gift for your favorite traveler

There is a reason that packing cubes are always popular. Packing cubes make great stocking stuffers and are an affordable option for organizing your travel bag. I stuff clothes, and electronics, and even use as a laundry bag to keep my back from from smelling. Everything is neatly packed away in color-coded cubes making my travels more organized and less cluttered. These compression packing cubes always make one of the best travel gifts every year.

3. White Noise Machine

best travel gift ideas white noise machine

Dave and I cannot sleep without white noise. This white noise machine will drown out loud neighbors, thumping music, and snoring loved one. We were recently in Chile and music was playing all night long. Others in our group didn’t sleep a wink, but we had our white noise matching going and didn’t wake up once. For frequent travelers or first-time travelers, this is the perfect piece of travel gear to add to their travel bag.

4. The Trtl Travel Neck Pillow

best travel gift ideas for your loved one - Trtl Travel Neck Pillow

Sleeping on planes can be a pain in the neck (See what I did there?), but with the Trtl Neck travel pillow , those days of needing to blow up a neck pillow are long gone. This is the Cadillac of all-neck pillows and one of the best gifts for frequent world travelers who are on planes a lot. It is scientifically proven to support your neck and aid sleep during long flights. And let me tell you this works. If you want to be comfortable on your next plane ride then get one of these.

5. Belkin Mini Surge Protector

Belkin Mini Surge Protector perfect gift for Traveling

If you read our blog often, you’ll know that I recommend the Belkin as one of the top pieces of travel equipment out there and one we recommend every year. The Belkin Mini Surge Protector is probably one of the most useful pieces of travel ger you can get someone. It not only protects your electronics from power surges, but it also charges several things at once with 3 outlets and 2 USB ports.

6. Portable Charger and Power Bank

Anker Portable charger PowerCore Lite best travel gift ideas

Everybody needs a portable charger when they are traveling. Nothing is more frustrating than having your phone or iPad die at the wrong moment. That is why we use the PowerCore Lite 20000 . It has 2 outputs and saves us from carrying 2 separate power banks. This portable charger is lightweight and it carries enough charge to recharge your phone up to 3 times! For those who want just one outlet for their portable charger, make sure to check out the PowerCore Lite 10000.

7. SleepPhones

sleep phones make best travel gift ideas

When it comes to travel accessories, comfort is key! I always suggest having noise-canceling headphones on an airplane, but when you go to sleep on long haul flights, it can be difficult to keep them on your head. And they get in the way. Plus, I never sleep in my Apple Air Pods for fear of having them fall on the floor and they’ll be gone for good.

These SleepPhones have Bluetooth technology and are wireless. They are great to use to fall asleep while listening to soothing music or audiobooks and they take up no space in your carry on. There’s an easy sizing guide that worked great. I ordered a medium and it fits perfectly. Check them out and see what you think

8. BioLite AlpenGlo 250

best travel gifts bio tech light

The BioLite AlpenGlo 250 great gift for travelers who love to get outdoors, go on camping trips and get off the beaten path. This lantern gives off ambient light with several different settings depending on your mood. Change the colours and even put it in a party mode where the colors change and flicker. It’s great for adding ambient light to the campsite, hotel room or to a cramped van when taking a road trip cross country. Plus a great additional feature is that the lantern is rechargeable and doubles a powerbank to charge your cell phone .

Best Travel Gifts Under $25

9. clickr phone grip and expandable stand.

best gifts for traveling under 25 dollars

CLCKR  is a perfect phone case for frequent travelers as it makes it easy to watch videos and online content while on a plane. This unique piece of travel gear has a built-in stand or universal grip that you can rest on your tray table and use as an airplane phone holder. It’s handy for watching or creating video content on the go as the case stands for your device in landscape or portrait mode. Its streamlined design also is very fashionable.

10. World Travel Adapter

Plug Adapter best travel gifts

Finding the right travel adapter over the years has been a challenge but after getting this OREI M8 All-In-One International Worldwide Travel Plug Adapter we love it. This is a piece of travel gear we can’t go without as it converts plugs for any country in the world at the slide of a switch, which makes for great travel gifts for people who travel for work or leisure. Most importantly it is light and durable so you won’t have to replace it after a few uses like other models we have tried. If you are looking for a practical gift for frequent travelers, your friend will love it.

11. Portable Luggage Scale

Plug Adapter best travel gifts

There is nothing worse than getting to the airport check-in counter and finding out you have to pay a fee for overweight luggage. A portable scale has become an invaluable piece for frequent travelers. With a portable luggage scale, you can weigh it at home before you start your travels. We have even had our carry-on weighed recently while traveling, so it’s good to know before you go. This will definitely help frequent travelers save time, money, and hassle every time they leave home.

46. Level8 Luggage for Traveling

best gifts for travel Level 8 Luggage

I think we have tried every type of carry-on luggage out there over the years and we love this Pro Carry-on with Laptop Pocket   by Level8. We felt so chic going through the airport with these hard cases and modern design and it was easy t o pop out my laptop and documents right from the front of my carry-on when going through security.

For our checked bags, our yellow Voyageur Check-In 28′ turned heads. We didn’t worry about anyone mixing up our bags on the conveyor belt with our unique color and design. We found the 28-inch a bit too large, but you can order 24′ or 26′. But with the large handle and ultra-quite 360° spinner wheels it was super easy to navigate through the airport.

  • On a personal note, my hard case carry on fell from the top of a van on my trip and because my laptop was secure in the front hard case pocket, it wasn’t damaged. That was a huge relief. Save 10% off all products with the code ThePlanetD10

We tried to put together a really comprehensive list that includes al the best gifts for travelers. Glad you liked it!

Honestly, a lot of those travel gifts for women are great. Yes, they are archetypically female, but it sounds like he based the list on women he polled. I think what some of the female readers were hoping to point out was that most of the items mentioned in the female section were pointedly appealing and useful to women alone, and none necessarily engaged the mind or body. While the male section, barring a few items , women would genuinely find equal interest in, so could have easily gone into the “everyone” section. This list is helpful and is meant with only good intentions. Looks like most are taking it as such.

Very true. We tried to break things up a bit to give people some organization, but I agree, I would use all of them as well!

Great list, a lot of cool ideas there! How about adding a translator like Travis or Pocketalk? I’m thinking to get one for my dad but I’m waiting for Black Friday offers. Keep up the good work Matt 🙂

Wonderful. I am get some of these gifts for myself. I just love this list. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you for sharing such a unique list. You always impress us. The one thing that stands apart from the list and my personal favorite would be the GOPRO HERO 8 BLACK. This is the best partner you could take along while traveling or while gifting something to a traveler this is the best choice one could get, as it helps in catching all the memories that would remain with you forever. The one and the only thing i would like to add to this list is the City Map Glass. If your dad’s a whiskey drinker who likes to travel, this custom city map glass is about as thoughtful a gift as it gets. The best part is it’s personalized (which will make it even more special). Yo get to choose his favorite city to get etched into the glass, so every time he has a drink, he’ll reminisce on his best memories.

I got the same world map pillow! Its a shame that it looks better than feels=) However they were made for visual pleasure and they do their job

If someone handover to me to select the best gift for a traveller, I would select Go Pro Hero 7. And I’m damn sure s/he will be happy after getting this kind of gift. I had gifted that DJI Mavic Pro to one of my friend long back. He really liked it too much and after 2 years also if we meet then again and again he says thanks for that amazing moving camera. It was costly for me (at $1250 i got that time) but i am very happy that my best friend is happy to use it.

Great posts! How do you always come up with such unique ideas?

hank you for sharing your blog

I love giving the Karmin T70 hair clippers as a gift 😉

Great post! I’ll be forward this to my family for some holiday shopping ideas. 🙂 I’m also really looking forward to the Pilot from Waverly Labs, which is an earpiece that translates foreign languages in real time. It sounds too-good-to-be-true, but the tech seems legit. While it might take away a bit of the fun from learning new languages, can you imagine the kind of interactions you’d be able to have with non-English speaking locals? What time to be alive!

I would love about…oh, 90% of the stuff on this list, even though in a few cases I already have something very similar to it already. Some would actually be great for the occasional travelers on this list or the many campers we have in my husband’s family. Thanks for providing some inspiration for my upcoming Christmas shopping!

Beauty & skincare products

Surprise and delight your lucky gift recipient with something they’ll truly love and use—both at home, on the go, and away on vacation. You can’t go wrong gifting timeless skincare staples like good ol’ SPF (especially one from beloved brand Supergoop ) or a soothing, sensitive-skin-approved, redness-banishing facial spray they can spritz on mid-flight.

Hydration is the name of the travel game, especially on airplanes where cabin air is dry and humidity levels are low. That’s where nourishing lip balms and skin salves come into play, both of which make excellent gifts. Meanwhile, beauty enthusiasts of all ages will appreciate tried-and-true essentials like a botanical-infused hair care set that’s TSA-approved, or a restorative hair mask to combat dry and dehydrated strands, which can happen all too often when globetrotting.

Travel-friendly clothing & shoes

When it comes to fashion, comfort is key—and some things just never go out of style. It’s always a good idea to stock up on travel-friendly wardrobe staples , including cute joggers , everyday leggings , and blanket scarves to keep you warm and toasty in flight. Alternatively, present your giftee with a full loungewear set , our uniform for long-haul flights. Last but not least, don’t forget about footwear. When it comes to gifting, options abound, from supportive walking shoes to versatile ballet flats , which, yes, are officially back in style.

Image may contain: Clothing, Knitwear, Sweater, Sweatshirt, Long Sleeve, and Sleeve

Tech-savvy travelers are sure to love the following gifts: A portable sound machine , which easily clips onto backpacks, diaper bags, and totes, makes it easy for kids and adults alike to snooze (almost) anywhere. Wearable tech, including Oura Rings and Apple Watches, is functional and, frankly, pretty neat, tracking biometrics like heart rate, step count, sleep, and more. Meanwhile, a quality pair of noise-canceling headphones can come in especially handy on plane, train, and car rides filled with screaming children, chatty seatmates, and, well, you get the gist.

Allow your giftee to enhance their in-flight entertainment set-up with a Bluetooth wireless transmitter, which lets them pair their wireless headphones to the seatback entertainment system without purchasing a pair of wired headphones while in the air. Finally, a tech accessory travel storage case will help keep wires and cables organized and tangle-free throughout the duration of their trip.

Image may contain: Accessories, Earring, Jewelry, Art, Porcelain, and Pottery

Home & kitchen items

These home and kitchen accessories will inspire wanderlust all year long. Highlights include scented candles and a fragrance diffuser set from one of our favorite hotel brands. In the kitchen, your giftee can enjoy at-home sushi nights, home-cooked Italian pasta courtesy of an incredible pasta maker that rolls and cuts the dough into traditional shapes like lasagna and taglioni, and authentic French press coffee reminiscent of the cups you’d find in a Parisian cafe. Other honorable mentions include a glossy travel-themed coffee-table book that’s chic enough to double as decor and a splurge-worthy sheet set from none other than the Four Seasons, transforming any ol’ bedroom into a luxury suite.

Image may contain: Home Decor, Cup, and Art

Gourmands will especially love one of these food-centric gifts , which lets them savor the flavors of the world from the comfort of home. For breakfast and brunch, they can feast on bagels and lox from NYC staple Russ & Daughters, while Lauduree’s French macaroons make the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. Similarly, sweet tooths can indulge in Belgian chocolate courtesy of Neuhaus; the 24-piece Collection Box is filled with a combination of pralinés, ganaches, and caramels that are (essentially) edible works of art. Meanwhile, those craving a sweet taste of Italy will especially enjoy the Pastificio G. Di Martino x Dolce & Gabbana Picnic Tin, which is filled with five one-pound pasta bags plus two picnic print placemats. If your giftee likes to try a bit of everything, snag them a snack box filled with Turkish delights, or, for something savory, a gourmet assortment of French cheeses coupled with smoked salmon, pork paté, trout roe, and French-made blinis.

Travel frequently or know someone who does? Rule number one is to streamline your luggage to ensure everything inside deserves the space it's taking up. Rule number two? Enjoy yourself! That's true regardless of whether you're on a business trip or on vacation.

There's a good chance your gift recipient already has a stable travel routine, so we've included products that will help them out without making a huge impact on what works well for them. From needs to wants, the gear on this list will make any frequent traveler look forward to their next trip.

Be sure to check out more of our buying guides, like gifts for beer and wine lovers or the best laptops , when checking off your holiday shopping list.

Sometimes finding a wall outlet at an airport is impossible. This powerful portable charger means you'll be able to top off your devices while on the go, even if there's no AC outlet available. This model is capable of replenishing phones up to six times per charge, and it can be recharged relatively quickly as well. Despite the 26,800 mAh capacity, this power bank is slim, so it's easy to slip into an already-full bag.

I took this charger with me on a three-week international trip. It kept my phone alive during delayed flights, long nights out, and one particularly embarrassing incident that left me stranded on a bus heading in the wrong direction for a few hours. It's a winner in my book.

What do you give the traveler who's been everywhere? A scratch-off map that can help them keep track of where they've been—and where they want to go. This map is large and detailed, so it works as a decoration as well as an activity. You can reveal all of the states, countries, and continents that you've traveled to, and have a visual reminder of your journeys throughout the years.

To check a bag or not to check a bag? There's an age-old debate about which method is better, but I personally prefer to never check any luggage if I can help it. If your gift recipient falls into the same boat, this bag offers a way to ensure there's enough space for everything they need, while still maintaining a small enough footprint to fit into overhead compartments with ease.

At first glance, it looks like a regular backpack, but there's a ton of space inside. Pockets and dedicated compartments offer organization, and the bag is comfortable to carry, too.

There are pens, and then there's the Fisher Space Pen. As its name suggests, this pen is used on manned space flights. It was designed to write anywhere: zero gravity, extreme temperatures, underwater, even upside down. That means it can conquer customs forms, notes, and journaling with ease. Plus, bringing your own pen on a flight means you won't need to get on an attendant's bad side or bug your seatmate by asking for one.

The pen itself is a bit of an investment, but refills are really cheap, so this gift won't require expensive upkeep.

wet wipes

Traveling is tough on your body. You're around tons of people from other locales, potentially jet lagged , and likely exhausted, even if it's in a positive way. All of those factors can weaken your immune system.

Antibacterial wipes like these can offer a quick wipedown that also banishes germs when you're feeling grimy. Use them on your hands, armrests, dining tables, or anywhere else that could use a sanitary wipe. I keep these in my travel bag at all times, because aside from refreshing me, they dry quickly and don't leave residue behind.

neck bag

Neck wallets may be dorky, but that doesn't change the fact that sometimes you may want to have one around. In a crowded festival, an unsavory area, or a shared living situation, something like this can offer peace of mind.

This stash features RFID blocking, which isn't really necessary , but it doesn't hurt. More importantly, the wallet is slim yet durable, and it stays dry. There are places to store cash, passports, cards, boarding passes, and more. Just remember to avoid keeping all of your eggs in one basket. It's smart to keep some cash separate from the rest of your money if there's a safe way to do so.

neck pillow

Rather than wrapping around your neck like a donut, allowing you to rest your head on your shoulder comfortably, these scarf-style travel pillows actually keep your head propped up. The internal frame supports your head so you can snooze without nodding. When not in use, the pillow can be wrapped around the handle of a bag, and it weighs merely half a pound. No more walking around the airport with a foam pillow around your neck like some sort of peasant.

White rounded rectangular device with two buttons on the front and a cord coming out of the top

AirFly offers an elegant solution to a very modern problem. Planes offer in-flight entertainment via wired headphones. Your headphones are probably wireless. AirFly works as a bridge between the two, allowing you to connect to the in-flight system via Bluetooth. It'll work with other systems that require a wired connection, too, like a treadmill's TV or the Nintendo Switch . Added bonus: You won't have to use the airline's earbuds and spend the entire flight wondering if they're clean.

Osprey backpack

A daypack can provide extra room for shopping trip purchases, or give you an easy way to store hoodies, water bottles, and other necessities on the go. I never travel without one.

This durable option from Osprey has tons of space inside but packs down into its own carrying case with ease. When compressed, it's small enough to stuff inside a cargo pocket or crossbody purse. Unlike some other crushable backpacks, this model features additional pockets for extra organization.

Osprey also makes one of our favorite fanny packs .

cocktail box

Drinking isn't for everyone, but if you do imbibe, there's a chance that you've drastically overpaid for a weak in-flight cocktail once or twice. Be your own bartender with the help of this cocktail kit. It includes everything but the booze, meaning you'll just need to supply an airplane bottle or two. The kits are compact and safe for carry-ons.

There are multiple versions of the kit to choose from. Opt for an Old Fashioned, which comes with bitters and sugar cubes, or a Moscow Mule kit, with ginger syrup and lime juice. When in doubt, this variety pack could be split up and doled out—after you keep your favorite kit for yourself, of course.

Amazon Kindle

In my opinion, a Kindle is to plane trips as water bottles are to a run. Is it completely necessary? Not at all. Will it make the task at hand a whole lot easier? Yes indeed.

This recently released version of the Kindle ( 8/10 WIRED Recommends ) has a built-in front light (finally!) and a long battery life. We're talking weeks of use on a single charge. That means you can read your favorite books without draining your phone battery—or getting distracted by a push notification. The device is slim, too, making it easy to stash in a carry-on.

Water Bottle

A reusable water bottle is always handy to have around. This version features LifeStraw's water filtering technology built into the straw, which removes bacteria and protozoa to ensure the water you're drinking is safe. You could even fill it up with water from a lake or stream. If you're headed somewhere that doesn't have reliable access to the cleanest drinking water, this bottle will help you stay hydrated without using disposable water bottles.

The included carabiner means you can hang the bottle from your backpack on a hike or from your purse on a day trip. Replacement filters are inexpensive too.

a phone with a moment lens attached to the camera

We included Moment's phone camera lenses in our roundup of the best compact cameras for good reason. The lenses are easy to use, nearly universally compatible, and compact.

Most smartphone cameras these days take photos that are perfectly fine, but Moment lenses can help bump them up to the next level. There are a few options available, but our favorite is the telephoto lens, which allows you to zoom without losing image quality. It is important to note that the lenses require a special phone case .

sleep mask

The next time you're trying to nap on a plane and your seatmate decides to flood your face with sunlight, you'll hardly notice. This affordable mask features a contoured design intended to completely block out light. The mask is lightweight as well, so it won't smoosh your eyes like some other masks you may have used, and it's available in several different colors. Your order comes with a carrying case and a pair of those foam earplugs, too.

different sized bags for packing

There comes a day in every traveler's life where they discover packing cubes and never look back. Not all packing cubes are created equal, however. Eagle Creek makes some of the best in the market. These cubes are durable and water-resistant, and they'll help your luggage stay organized so you can spend less time rummaging around in your bag. This brand also has compression packing cubes available, which are great for people that have a tendency to overpack.

universal travel Adapter

International charging adapters can be both bulky and expensive. This version is neither, and it works in more than 150 countries. Four USB ports, a USB-C port, and an AC socket allow you to charge multiple devices simultaneously, and the charger also prevents things like overloading. Aside from a carrying case, this adapter also includes an extra fuse, so if you accidentally blow one you'll have a backup.

The 16 Best Father’s Day Gifts for the Traveler Who Has Everything — From $14

There's something for the frequent flier, hiking enthusiast, campground cook, and more.

traveller gifts

Travel + Leisure

We’ve all struggled with standing in a checkout line around Father’s Day, holding a set of whiskey stones or Himalayan shot glasses, and wondering if Dad will genuinely appreciate yet one more novelty gift —or never use it. Airline tickets or hotel stays are often a great and, albeit, expensive gift for adventure travel-loving dudes , but not all father figures love to travel; many are content staying closer to home or venturing into the outdoors.

So whether your dad lives large as a jet-setter, prefers solo camping trips, or opts for family beach vacations, this travel writer is here to help you find the perfect gift that will make his next trip incredible — even if that trip is simply to the backyard. Keep scrolling to find the best Father’s Day gifts for travelers under $100 (and even under $50 and $20). There's something for the outdoorsy dad , tech-savvy dad , frequent flier dad , and more.

S-Zone Duffel Bag

For someone who is quite literally always on the go, a piece of practical luggage like this on-sale S-Zone Duffel Bag will make a great gift. Ideal for flights, weekend road trips, camping trips, and more, the multitasking travel bag has a spacious main compartment and multiple pouches and zippers to keep everything organized. Its sophisticated leather trim details and canvas body make it a dapper choice for business travel, and it can even double as a swanky gym bag.

Bagsmart Toiletry Bag

Good gear makes for successful trips, and if you're shopping for someone who prefers a Ziploc bag over a Dopp kit, this pick is for you. Bagsmart's water-resistant toiletry bag ensures that every trip goes smoothly with its durable, compact, and roomy design, which is stocked with pockets and compartments galore. There's even a waterproof compartment to help keep liquids secure, and he'll appreciate the convenience of its wide-opening top and sturdy double zipper closure.

Sperry Bahama II Boat Shoes

Father’s Day falls during prime boat season, so whether your guy cruises the lakes of the Ozarks or Florida’s intercoastal on vacation, he’ll appreciate a good-looking pair of boat shoes that dries out in mere minutes. This quintessential summer shoe can be worn on deck or the street and has hand-sewn elements that give it a relaxed, polished look. Sperry's Bahama IIs are made with a breathable, comfortable twill textile and lightweight rubber soles for comfort, as well as the brand's signature foot comfort system for all-around support and cushioning — which is ace on those days when it feels like he’s working a shift on "Below Deck."

Riemot Luggage Cup Holder

Looking for a nifty travel gadget to make your frequent flier feel like the coolest traveler in the airport? Behold, the Riemot Luggage Cup Holder. It simply slides on your suitcase handle and provides extra storage space to keep you hands-free in the airport. When you arrive at the airport, you can use it to conveniently stow your wallet, phone, and passport so you don't have to rifle through your bag at check-in. And once you're through TSA security, you can stock it with a water bottle, a cup of coffee, and snacks. What's more, it folds up compactly and hardly takes up any space in a suitcase or backpack.

Rux Cooler Cube

The cooler bag has to be one of the best modern-day inventions, and it’ll prove extra essential for his upcoming camping trip or tailgate with the guys. Made by Rux — known for its high-quality gear haulers — the 5-liter Cooler Cube is the ideal size to fit everything he needs for lunch after solo hiking or a six-pack of cold beers on a fishing trip with a friend, and it’s still lightweight enough to carry up a hill. It's built with heavy-duty RF-welded 840D TPU, which means it can withstand whatever nature has in store that day. Even more genius, it has lash points to secure it to anything, and it can be integrated into Rux’s waterproof bag for lunch on a kayak. If you buy this as a gift, you can expect it to last thanks to its lifetime warranty, and you’ll even get to choose from colors like classic black, vibrant orange, army green, and steel blue — even though it’s practical doesn’t mean it has to be boring.

G Gradual Tapered Joggers

Odds are you're shopping for a guy who has a hard time letting go of his tried-and-true clothing pieces — even if they're falling apart. This Father's Day, treat him to a new pair of joggers that he'll be able to wear for every occasion, from hiking and traveling to dining out and backyard barbecues. The secret to their versatility lies in the tapered design, which gives these classic-fitting joggers a more elevated look. They're also made with a lightweight, four-way-stretching fabric for comfortable movement and functional zipper pockets so he's never without his essentials.

Vuori Short-sleeve Bridge Button-down Shirt

It wouldn't be a Father's Day gift guide without a Hawaiian shirt. In fact, to many of their children’s chagrin, your padre probably wore this colorful button-up style on trips with the fam before they became trendy. If the options in your guy's current collection are a little too spirited, this summery short-sleeve button-down from Vuori makes a great, last-minute gift, especially if you're not sure what to get this year. It's made with the activewear brand's editor-loved lightweight performance stretch fabric so it'll be comfy on long travel days, camping trips, hikes, summer gatherings, and more.

Duer No Sweat Shorts

The greatest enemy to traveling comfortably when temperatures climb high is sweat — especially in that area. With its quick-dry fabric and breathability, the Duer No Sweat Shorts will keep them cool and free of embarrassing sweat stains even on a Nile River cruise in the steamiest of months. While the material on these shorts feels more midweight in nature, they wear comfortably like gym shorts and have an insanely stretchy movement to them. Naturally, this makes them a great option for guys who will be climbing the Spanish Steps in Rome, or doing a low-impact cruise around Yosemite Falls. Featuring a relaxed fit and specialized fibers that naturally keep away moisture and bacterial growth, Duer’s No Sweat shorts are outfitted with five deep, sturdy pockets to securely stash Dad’s (many) essentials.

Twelve South AirFly SE Bluetooth Wireless Audio Transmitter

If your recipient is also your favorite travel companion (or someone who only uses Bluetooth headphones), give them the gift of endless in-flight entertainment with this tech-savvy wireless audio transmitter. It connects any pair of wireless headphones to the plane's seatback console via Bluetooth, so your seatmate can unwind with a movie or TV show of their choice without the use of the airline's provided wired headphones. If you're shopping for a gym buff, this device can also be used to connect wireless headphones to the machines' console as well.

Smartish Crown Joule Charging Cord

By a certain age, we all have a drawer filled with cables and we don’t know what they’re for. This Smartish Crown Joule universal cable ensures you’ll never have to watch Dad make Yosemite Sam noises while he feverishly rifles through said drawer looking for the “right charger” ever again as its a three-in-one micro-USB, lightning, and USB-C charger (which means it's compatible with most Apple and Android devices). It boasts a fabric-wrapped cable for less tangling and fraying, but the real perk is that you can charge multiple devices at once.

AeroPress Go Coffee Maker

We’re all tickled by the current price of a to-go coffee, especially Dad. To show your lifetime financial advisor that you’ve been listening to his advice, pick up this on-the-go coffee maker by AeroPress for Father’s Day, which promises to energize him with a nice cup of joe while traveling. The AeroPress makes espresso-style, cold brew, and traditional coffee you would otherwise swear came from a French press with many other perks. Case in point: The coffee brews very quickly using a process that involves air pressure and microfiltration. The AeroPress Go works best with medium fine ground coffee, with or without a grinder, and it even comes with a mug for coffee consumption anywhere there’s access to water. From the summit of Aspen Mountain to boating around Lake Tahoe, this lightweight, portable coffee maker is a gift they will want to show off, especially if he’s into camping, backpacking, skiing, or sailing — not to mention, you’ll get the added benefit of always having access to coffee, too.

Jivock 300x25 Binoculars With Phone Adapter

These genius mini pocket binoculars pack lots of value; they provide incredibly clear magnification, are waterproof, and come with a neck strap, portable bag, and a phone adapter so you can see the picture directly on your mobile device. Featuring a 300-times magnification zoom and a 25-millimeter field of view, here are just some ideas for how Dad can use these binoculars on his travels: a bird-watching journey in the Galapagos Islands, gorilla trekking in Rwanda, or simply peeping the New York City skyline from a trendy riverfront restaurant like Blu on the Hudson .

Mofokeay Wireless Speaker and Lantern Set

Whether you're shopping for the grill master, the decor connoisseur, or the gardening enthusiast, these two-in-one outdoor speakers will win them over. At first glance, they look like ordinary lanterns, but they're actually equipped with a Bluetooth speaker so you can fill your outdoor space with your favorite tunes. It's the perfect gift for anyone who loves hosting summer parties, as well as someone who can always be found lounging in the backyard. They also come in handy on camping trips!

GCI Outdoor Slim-fold Cook Station

If Dad takes his camp cooking seriously, then he'll be blown away by this foldable outdoor cook station that acts as a prep station, stovetop, and extra table. Highly portable and functional, it maximizes your campground culinary experience with its multi-table design, which features four mini tabletops on the sides and a storage rack down below so everything has a secure place. There's even a hook to hang a garbage bag and a paper towel roll holder. Even better, the main table is made with heat-resistant aluminum so you can put your camp stove on it.

MiiR Wide-mouth Water Bottle

There are, without a doubt, lots of travel thermoses out there to choose from, but MiiR’s wide-mouth version rises to the top, especially for campers, hikers, or any Pops who is always on the go. It is also incredibly leakproof, keeps drinks at their temperature for hours, and has a durable stainless steel exterior with a luxe-looking powder coat finish — plus, an easy-to-carry and comfortable loop cap. Available in 16-, 20-, and 32-ounce options, no matter how thirsty your big guy is, this water bottle comes in a size and a color to suit his personality. MiiR is also a B-certified, climate-neutral corporation that gives 1 percent back to the planet.

Groove Life Men’s Belt

There’s something about needing to adjust your belt several times per day that can make a man feel, well, a little too much like his dad. Thanks to its design and signature magnetic aluminum buckle, this Groove Life Men’s Belt only needs to be adjusted once (and the sound it makes when it snaps in place will even make him feel quite cool). Held together with neodymium magnets, it snaps and latches securely but releases easily when needed. The everyday adventure lifestyle belt is as functional as it is comfortable and stylish for your guy to wear, with a sturdy A380 aluminum alloy buckle and a webbed poly fabric that securely stretches, making it ideal for lots of different tactical gadgets. Right now, certain colors are on sale, so make sure to grab one so you can save some cash.

Clarence Thomas, in Financial Disclosure, Acknowledges 2019 Trips Paid by Harlan Crow

The justice amended an earlier filing to include vacations to Bali and an exclusive California club paid for by the Texas billionaire Harlan Crow.

Justice Clarence Thomas sitting in an armchair and speaking. He is wearing a dark suit and a blue shirt with no tie.

By Abbie VanSickle

Justice Clarence Thomas acknowledged on Friday additional luxury travel he had accepted from a conservative billionaire, amending a previous financial disclosure to reflect trips he had taken to an Indonesian island and a secretive all-male club in the Northern California redwoods.

The trips, taken in 2019, were earlier revealed by ProPublica , but it is the first time that Justice Thomas has included them on his financial disclosures .

Other Supreme Court justices chronicled their gifts, travel and money earned from books and teaching. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson reported receiving four concert tickets valued at about $3,700 from Beyoncé and $10,000 of artwork for her chambers from the Alabama artist and musician Lonnie Holley .

The financial disclosures, released yearly, are one of the few public records available about the justices’ lives, providing select details of their activities outside the court. A steady drumbeat of revelations about ties between some of the justices and wealthy donors has only intensified interest in the reports, particularly after disclosures that Justice Thomas had accepted lavish gifts and travel from affluent friends over decades.

Books are one of the few ways that the justices can earn outside, uncapped money . Justice Jackson reported $893,750 from an advance for her coming book, a memoir. Justice Neil M. Gorsuch listed a book advance of $250,000.

Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh disclosed a $340,000 advance. He is working on a legal memoir, still untitled, and is expected to offer a firsthand account of his contentious confirmation hearing in 2018 and an attempt on his life in 2022. The deal was earlier reported by Axios .

Justice Sonia Sotomayor continued to earn royalties for her books, including about $87,000 in proceeds this year. She cited about $1,900 for voicing a character on an animated children’s show on PBS, “Alma’s Way,” about a Puerto Rican girl from the Bronx and her family. The narrative arc is not unfamiliar to the justice, whose Puerto Rican parents raised her in public housing in the Bronx.

The 2019 trips disclosed by Justice Thomas refer to two excursions with Harlan Crow, a Texas real estate magnate and donor to conservative causes. During one, he and his wife, Virginia Thomas, flew aboard Mr. Crow’s private jet to Indonesia, where they spent more than a week island-hopping on Mr. Crow’s superyacht.

Justice Thomas did not provide a dollar value on his disclosure form, but ProPublica had estimated that if Justice Thomas had paid for the plane trip and yacht himself, the trip could have exceeded $500,000.

The second trip, listed as a visit to Monte Rio, Calif., appears to be an excursion to Bohemian Grove, an exclusive retreat held on a 2,700-acre property in Sonoma County, north of San Francisco. Mr. Crow is a member of the club.

Justice Thomas did not report any gifts or private jet flights or travel from benefactors for 2023, the year covered by the most recent disclosures. He listed only one gift, a pair of photo albums worth $2,000 from Terrence and Barbara Giroux. Mr. Giroux is the departing executive director of the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, an exclusive group that includes figures at some of the highest echelons of society.

As a member of the group, Justice Thomas has granted it unusual access to the Supreme Court, presiding over an annual ceremony in the courtroom and meeting with and mentoring the recipients of college scholarships awarded by the group and worth millions of dollars a year; many come from backgrounds that mirror his own.

Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. was granted an extension this year, said the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, which offers support for the federal judiciary and handles the financial records . That is in keeping with his typical practice. According to Fix the Court, an advocacy group critical of the court’s lack of transparency, for more than a decade he has delayed filing his disclosure.

Last year, both Justice Thomas and Justice Alito requested and received extensions on filing their disclosure forms. Neither cited a reason in asking for a delay.

The Supreme Court justice also included an amendment for his 2019 filing.

When his form was released to the public , Justice Thomas had included an unusual addendum, a statement defending his acceptance of gifts from Mr. Crow . In reporting a real estate deal, a sale of his mother’s single-family home to Mr. Crow, he said in the statement that he had “inadvertently omitted” such information, which also sought to justify his decision to fly on private jets. He stated that he had been advised to avoid commercial travel after the leak of the draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade. However, he did not list any private plane travel in 2023.

The Supreme Court, under mounting pressure and intense public scrutiny, adopted its first ethics code in November. Judges in lower federal courts have long been bound by a code, but the Supreme Court has never been subject to those requirements because of its special constitutional status.

Still the lack of enforcement mechanism or a process to handle ethics complaints drew criticism , as did the absence of any specific restrictions on gifts, travel or real estate deals.

However, the nine-page code cautioned that members of the Supreme Court should not participate in activities that “detract from the dignity” of the job, interfere with a justice’s ability to carry out official duties, “reflect adversely on the justice’s impartiality” or “lead to frequent disqualification.”

Thomas acknowledges more travel paid for by Harlan Crow. Colleagues report six-figure book payments

WASHINGTON (AP) — Justice Clarence Thomas on Friday belatedly acknowledged more travel paid by Republican megadonor Harlan Crow, while several colleagues reported six-figure payments as part of book deals.

Thomas, who has faced criticism for failing to report luxury trips paid for by Crow and others over many years, said in his annual financial disclosure that, in 2019, Crow paid for a hotel room in Bali, Indonesia, for a single night, and food and lodging at a private club in Sonoma County, California. He did not report any travel paid by others last year.

The disclosure on Indonesia is curious for what it omits: the rest of the trip. ProPublica reported last year that Thomas flew to Indonesia on Crow’s private jet and then boarded his superyacht for an islands tour, one of many trips Crow has given to Thomas and his wife, Ginni, over the years.

Another justice, Ketanji Brown Jackson , reported eye-popping numbers, a nearly $900,000 advance for her upcoming memoir, and attention-grabbing gifts, four tickets to a Beyoncé concert valued at $3,700 from the singer herself.

Jackson was one of four Supreme Court justices who reported sizable income from book deals. Justice Brett Kavanaugh reported being paid $340,000 by the conservative Regnery Publishing company. The company was sold and the book is to be published by an imprint at Hachette Book Group, according to Axios, which also reported this week that Kavanaugh’s book will deal with his contentious confirmation hearing that included allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has denied. The court confirmed Friday that the justice is writing a legal memoir.

Wade two years ago. (AP Photo/Allen G. Breed, File)

Justices Neil Gorsuch and Sonia Sotomayor reported royalty income of $250,000 and nearly $90,000, respectively.

In their day jobs, the justices are being paid $298,500 this year, except for Chief Justice John Roberts, who earns $312,200.

The only justice whose report was not available Friday is Samuel Alito, who received an extension for up to 90 days, as he does most years. The justice has separately been under scrutiny over flags that flew outside homes he owned. He has said they were raised by his wife.

Jackson, the first Black woman on the nation’s highest court, signed a book contract soon after taking her seat in 2022. The book, “Lovely One,” is to be published in September.

The total value of her book deal has not been publicly disclosed, but it is expected to rival if not exceed what Sotomayor was paid for her memoir, “My Beloved World,” more than $3 million.

Among the current justices, only Roberts, Alito and Justice Elena Kagan have so far not cut book deals. Thomas received a $1.5 million advance, stunning at the time, for his 2007 book, “My Grandfather’s Son.” Justice Amy Coney Barrett in 2022 reported receiving $425,000 for a yet-to-be-released book, part of a reported $2 million deal she signed soon after joining the court in 2020.

The disclosures paint a partial picture of the justices’ finances, as they are not required to reveal the value of their homes or, for those who are married, their spouses’ salary.

The justices adopted an ethics code in November, though it lacks a means of enforcement. The code treats travel, food and lodging as expenses rather than gifts, for which monetary values must be reported. Justices aren’t required to attach a value to expenses.

In March, the federal judiciary began requiring judges to disclose travel-related gifts and their values — rather than reporting such gifts as reimbursements. The justices say they generally abide by the same rules, but Thomas did not disclose the cost of the Bali hotel.

Some Democratic lawmakers are continuing to press legislation that would require the court to adopt a binding code of conduct and provide for investigations of alleged violations. But the prospect for such legislation is considered remote in a closely divided Congress.

Only two justices reported receiving gifts last year. Thomas said he was given two photo albums worth $2,000 by Terrence Giroux and his wife. Giroux is the executive director emeritus of the Horatio Alger Association.

Jackson received artwork for her Supreme Court office worth $12,500. And then there were the Beyoncé tickets, worth more than $900 a pop. Beyoncé performed two concerts in the Washington area in August 2023, though Jackson’s disclosure does not say when or where the tickets were for.

“Justice Jackson is Crazy in Love with Beyonce’s music,” Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said, invoking a Beyoncé song. “Who isn’t?”

What to Buy From Zwilling’s Anniversary Sale

Portrait of Emma Wartzman

Zwilling makes some of my favorite kitchen products — and starting today, the brand is having an anniversary sale that goes through June 23. You’ll find knives we’ve written about in both our best chef’s knives roundup and our best knife sets roundup for a fraction of the price they normally cost. Plus, there are quite a few versions of heavily discounted Staub Dutch ovens (yes, Zwilling owns Staub) and some other useful tools in the mix like a roaster and electric kettle . I’ve rounded up the standout picks below.

Staub 5.5-Quart Round Cocotte

I named Staub’s Dutch oven the very best one you can buy — not just because I love it but because the pros do too. While this particular one has some visual imperfections (“This may include discoloration, blemishes, or chips that have been enameled over,” the brand states), it’s marked down a whopping 60 percent. Performance should still be perfect, and for something that’s going to get so much love in your kitchen over time anyway, I don’t think a little wear is a big deal. There are also a handful more colors, shapes, and sizes to choose from, which you can peruse here .

Staub Cast-Iron Braiser + Grill

This is a two-in-one piece of cookware: The high-sided bottom acts just like the Dutch oven above (though it’s a bit smaller). When the lid’s not on top, it can be used as a stovetop grill, where the grooved grates will give your food those classic markings.

Staub Cast Iron Square Grill Pan

If you’re into the idea of just a grill pan, this heavy-bottom one is great. The enameled cast iron gets superhot, so you get gorgeous browning, and the high ridges let the fat drip down from meat.

Staub Cast-Iron Roaster

This is a very fun piece: a cast-iron roaster that props up a whole chicken while it’s roasting in the oven so that the bottom gets just as evenly crispy and golden brown as the top side.

Zwilling Sorrento Double Wall 2-Piece Glass Set

These drinking glasses are made from durable borosilicate glass so they’re very unlikely to chip or crack. They also have a double-wall construction to keep drinks at your desired temperature for longer (and to help avoid sweating), and can go in the dishwasher and the microwave.

Zwilling Enfinigy Cool Touch Kettle Pro

The docking base of this electric kettle has a hidden display when powered off so that the appliance looks extra sleek sitting on your counter. There are six preset program settings for different types of coffee and tea, and it will hold your temperature for up to half an hour.

Henckels Classic Christopher Kimball Edition Chef’s Knife

Now, onto knives. This seven-inch model is, I think, a great size — especially if you have slightly smaller hands (the most common knife size you’ll see is eight inches). It’s European style, which means the edge and tip are built for maximum control as you slice, dice, and rock it back and forth.

Zwilling Bob Kramer Meiji Chef’s Knife

Or opt for this fancier model. Bob Kramer makes some of the most beautiful hand-forged knives around and has teamed up with Zwilling several times to make relatively accessible versions (even more so now that they’re on sale). I own a different one from one of their collaborations — but I have to say I think this model is particularly stunning thanks to the patterned steel and wood handle.

Zwilling Pro 3-Piece Starter Knife Set

I always say that there are only three knives you really need to own to get done the vast majority of everyday cooking: a chef’s, a paring, and a serrated. This set has just those three — a perfectly streamlined grouping.

Henckels Distinction Knife Block Set

If you prefer a full knife block, this is a handsome one that includes the three essentials above plus a larger serrated bread knife, a five-and-a-half-inch utility knife, six steak knives, and a honing steel and kitchen shears.
