Les parcours du Tour de France 2024 hommes et femmes dévoilés !

25/10/2023 – Présentation officielle du Tour de France 2024 – Christian Prudhomme

Les détails du volet masculin du Tour de France 2024, qui se tiendra du 29 juin au 21 juillet prochains, ont été dévoilés. Comme l’indique son intitulé, la 111 e édition se compose d’une série de premières à commencer par le Grand Départ qui sera pour la première fois donné d’Italie, à Florence puis en Émilie-Romagne pour l’arrivée de la première étape à Rimini.  Arrivée à Nice. En raison des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris et, pour la première fois, l’arrivée finale n’aura pas lieu dans la capitale.

La conquête du Maillot Jaune se poursuivra dès l’entrée en France avec une étape emmenant le peloton au Col du Galibier dès la 4 e étape ; puis sur des chemins blancs autour de Troyes ; dans un chrono en Bourgogne ; par-delà les reliefs du Massif Central au Lioran ou ceux des Pyrénées au Plateau de Beille un 14 juillet ; et encore dans les Alpes du Sud où il faudra égaler un record d’altitude à la cime de la Bonnette.

L’enjeu de la victoire finale ne sera peut-être pas réglé après la bataille des cimes, et pourrait même se dénouer lors de la dernière étape, qui sera pour la première fois tracée loin de Paris, précisément entre Monaco et Nice pour un contre-la-montre de 34 kilomètres. L’épreuve de vérité pour mettre fin aux questions.

C’est sur la place Masséna, à quelques pas de la Promenade des Anglais, que sera remis au vainqueur un trophée au format inédit mettant à l’honneur le Maillot Jaune… et à partager avec ses équipiers !

Quant aux femmes

Avec un calendrier différent des années précédentes, qui s’adapte à l’organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024, le peloton de l’élite mondiale du cyclisme féminin sera réuni à Rotterdam pour le premier Grand Départ de l’épreuve de l’étranger, le 12 août prochain.

Après huit étapes et un total de 946 kilomètres, qui s’adressent d’abord aux sprinteuses-rouleuses, ensuite aux coureuses de grandes classiques et enfin aux meilleures grimpeuses, l’arrivée finale sera jugée dans la station de l’Alpe d’Huez le 18 août. Les Pyrénées et le Tourmalet ont été conquis en 2023, l’exploration de la haute montagne se poursuit pour le peloton féminin.

Le parcours détaillé et les profils des étapes du Tour de France 2024

Le Tour de France 2024 s’élance d’Italie le 29 juin prochain pour arriver à Nice le 21 juillet. Un premier Grand Départ d’Italie, à Florence, et une première arrivée finale à Nice alors que Paris s’apprête à recevoir les Jeux olympiques.

Paris et ses Champs Elysées n’accueilleront pas la grande arrivée du Tour pour la simple et bonne raison que la capitale reçoit, quelques jours après, les Jeux olympiques .

Le parcours du Tour de France 2024 comporte 8 étapes de plaine, 4 étapes accidentées, 7 étapes de montagne avec 4 arrivées au sommet (Saint-Lary-Soulan Pla d’Adet, Plateau de Beille, Isola 2000 et le Col de la Couillole) et deux contre-la-montre individuels. Sur les 3 492 kilomètres que comporte le tracé de la 111e Grande Boucle , ce sont 52 000 mètres de D+ qui sont à gravir avec, notamment, la Cime de la Bonnette , perchée à 2 802 mètres d’altitude, ce qui constitue le toit du Tour de France 2024 .

Samedi 29 juin – Etape 1 : FLORENCE > RIMINI (206 km)

« Il n’est pas commun de débuter le Tour de France par plus de 3 600 mètres de dénivelé positif » , tels sont les mots du patron du Tour de France , Christian Prudhomme , à propos de la 1e étape du parcours de l’édition 2024. Entre Florence et Rimini , ce sont 206 kilomètres qui sont à parcourir ce samedi 29 juin avec 7 côtes répertoriées et un final pour costauds.

Dimanche 30 juin – Etape 2 : CESENATICO > BOLOGNE (200 km)

Après un Grand Départ de Florence et une étape difficile, les coureurs engagés sur le Tour de France continueront dans la lignée sur l’étape du jour entre Cesenatico et Bologne . Une journée un peu moins difficile mais toujours très longue avec 200 kilomètres à parcourir. Dans le final, les organisateur ont placé la côte de San Luca , très connue sur le Tour d’Emilie, avec ses 2 kilomètres à près de 10%.

Lundi 1er juillet – Etape 3 : PLAISANCE > TURIN (225 km)

Après deux étapes difficiles, le peloton partira de Plaisance pour rejoindre Turin sur une étape marathon : 225 kilomètres ! L’étape du jour semble promise aux sprinteurs qui devraient se jouer leur première victoire sur cette édition de la Grande Boucle.

Mardi 2 juillet – Etape 4 : PINEROLO > VALLOIRE (138 km)

A l’occasion de la 4e étape, le parcours du Tour de France 2024 retrouvera le territoire français. De Pinerolo , c’est une première étape de montagne qui se profile. Pas un mètre de plat sur l’étape du jour avec le col du Galibier (23,9 km à 5%) et ses 2 627 mètres d’altitude à franchir avant de plonger vers Valloire , terme de la journée.

Mercredi 3 juillet – Etape 5 : SAINT-JEAN-DE-MAURIENNE > SAINT-VULBAS (177 km)

Entre Saint Jean de Maurienne et Saint-Vulbas , la 5e étape du T our de France 2024 devrait être destinée aux sprinteurs. Même s’il faudra franchir, sur les 177 kilomètres du parcours de l’étape du jour, le col de Couz et la côte de Lhuis (4,4 km à 4,2%) a plus de 30 kilomètres de l’arrivée.

Jeudi 4 juillet – Etape 6 : MÂCON > DIJON (163 km)

L’étape du jour, le jeudi 4 juillet, dessinée entre Mâcon et Dijon se résumera à une explication entre sprinteurs au terme des 163 kilomètres proposés.

Vendredi 5 juillet – Etape 7 (CLM ind.) : NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES > GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN (25 km)

Premier contre-la-montre sur le parcours du Tour de France 2024 ! Entre Nuits-Saint-Georges et  Gevrey-Chambertin , ce sont 25 kilomètres en solitaire qui sont à réaliser. « La résistance à la douleur sera éprouvée par la côte de Reulle-Vergy (1,5 km à 6,5 %). A priori il ne devrait pas y avoir de gros écarts entre les meilleurs mais sait-on jamais ? » , a déclaré Christian Prudhomme . Il s’agit d’une journée très importante pour les favoris du classement général.

Samedi 6 juillet – Etape 8 : SEMURE-EN-AUXOIS > COLOMBEY-LES-DEUX-EGLISES (176 km)

Si la 8e étape du Tour de France 2024 est considérée comme une étape de plaine, le final vers Colombey-les-Deux-Églises s’annonce plus difficile que prévu. Plusieurs ascensions rythmeront l’étape du jour avec un match attendu entre sprinteurs et baroudeurs pour s’offrir le bouquet de la victoire.

Dimanche 7 juillet – Etape 9 : TROYES > TROYES (199 km)

« La première semaine du Tour s’achève sur une nouveauté : les chemins blancs, qui étaient déjà au programme sur les Strade Bianche ou Paris-Tours, font leur apparition sur la Grande Boucle. Le Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift avait inauguré ces chemins blancs de Champagne en 2022. Il y aura 14 secteurs dont 6 dans la partie finale pour un total de 32 km qui plongeront les coureurs dans la poussière et les  cailloux », a dit le directeur du Tour de France . Autour de Troyes , les favoris du classement général du Tour de France 2024 auront fort à faire face à cette étape dangereux et piégeuse.

Repos – Orléans

Mardi 9 juillet – Etape 10 : ORLÉANS > SAINT-AMAND-MONTROND (187 km)

Au lendemain de la première journée de repos, le Tour de France 2024 évoluera entre Orléans et Saint-Amand-Montrond pour 187 kilomètres. Si, a priori, l’étape du jour semble promise aux sprinteurs, la région exposée au vent pourrait donner lieu à un tout autre scénario.

Mercredi 10 juillet – Etape 11 : EVAUX-LES-BAINS > LE LIORAN (211 km)

La 11e étape du Tour de France 2024 , entre Evaux-Les-Bains et Le Lioran , est longue de 211 kilomètres avec… 4 350 mètres de dénivelé positif ! Christian Prudhomme a dit : « On monte crescendo dans la difficulté dans les 50 derniers kilomètres, avec un enchaînement de tous les dangers : la montée au col de Néronne, puis au Puy Mary Pas de Peyrol avec deux derniers kilomètres redoutables, avant d’attaquer le col de Pertus, le col de Font de Cère et la montée au Lioran. Autant de tremplins pour des grimpeurs de tempérament » .

Jeudi 11 juillet – Etape 12 : AURILLAC > VILLENEUVE-SUR-LOT (204 km)

La 12e étape du Tour de France 2024 , longue de 204 kilomètres, devrait être destinée aux sprinteurs à Villeneuve-sur-Lot . Reste à savoir si les baroudeurs profiteront du terrain vallonné dans le final pour mettre les coureurs rapides en échec. Le Tour de France est à suivre en direct et en intégralité : le programme TV .

Vendredi 12 juillet – Etape 13 : AGEN > PAU (171 km)

« Le Lot-et-Garonne offre de belles routes en balcon en début d’étape où la formation de l’échappée sera suivie de près par les équipes des sprinteurs qui auront étudié avec soin le parcours. Si elles ajustent correctement leur effort, elles ne seront pas surprises par les échappés du jour. Mais sur le terrain vallonné à l’approche du final, les côtes de Blachon ou de Simacourbe pourraient mettre en difficulté les finisseurs les moins à l’aise dans les bosses » , a expliqué Christian Prudhomme .

Samedi 13 juillet – Etape 14 : PAU > SAINT-LARY-SOUDAN (PLAT D’ADET) (152 km)

C’est une grosse journée en haute montagne qui se profile à l’occasion de la 14e étape. Le parcours du Tour de France propose l’une de ses étapes décisives pour le classement général avec les ascensions du col du Tourmalet , suivi de la Hourquette d’Ancizan . L’arrivée se fera à St-Lary-Soulan au Pla d’Adet , long de 10 kilomètres à 8,7%. Il ne faudra rien rater de toutes les actualités du Tour de France 2024 pour suivre la course.

Dimanche 14 juillet – Etape 15 : LOUDENVIELLE > PLATEAU DE BEILLE (198 km)

Nouvelle étape de montagne sur le parcours du Tour de France 2024 le dimanche 14 juillet. A Loudenvielle , c’est dans le Col de Peyresourde que sera donné le départ de l’étape du jour longue de 198 kilomètres avec 4 850 mètres de D+. Plusieurs cols viendront durcir la course avant d’entamer le Plateau de Beille avec ses 15,8 kilomètres à 7,8%. « Le potentiel est immense et il n’est pas illusoire de voir des équipiers des favoris s’aventurer dans une échappée en montant vers Peyresourde. Ils seraient précieux pour la suite des événements, spécialement dans le final en escaladant le col d’Agnes et le port de Lers avant de se hisser au Plateau de Beille » , a ajouté le directeur du Tour .

Repos – Gruissan

Mardi 16 juillet – Etape 16 : GRUISSAN > NIMES (187 km)

Après un repos bien mérité, le peloton prendra la direction de Nîmes où les sprinteurs sont attendus au terme des 187 kilomètres de course.

Mercredi 17 juillet – Etape 17 : SAINT-PAULE-TROIS-CHÂTEAUX > SUPERDÉVOLUY (178 km)

Entre Saint Paul Trois Châteaux et Superdévoluy , sur 178 kilomètres, les baroudeurs ont une très belle carte à jouer. Christian Prudhomme a déclaré : « La suite du programme a de quoi inspirer un gros groupe d’échappés, dont les membres auront leur chance à condition de pouvoir s’illustrer dans les ascensions des 40 derniers kilomètres. On y verra plus clair en franchissant le col Bayard, mais la sélection devrait plutôt se faire sur la route du col du Noyer (7,5 km à 8,4 %), et l’explication finale en vue de la station de Superdévoluy ».

Jeudi 18 juillet – Etape 18 : GAP > BARCELONNETTE (179 km)

Avant un ultime week-end très difficile, l’étape entre Gap et Barcelonnette devrait laisser les favoris du classement général au chaud tandis que les baroudeurs auront une belle carte à jouer.

Vendredi 19 juillet – Etape 19 : EMBRUN > ISOLA 2000 (145 km)

La 19e étape du Tour de France 2024 , entre Embrun et Isola 2000 , ne laissera aucun répit aux coureurs de la Grande Boucle . Au programme de l’étape du jour, trois cols à plus de 2 000 mètres d’altitude, dont le toit du Tour : la cime de la Bonette à près de 2 800 mètres. L’arrivée à Isola 2000 propose un col de 16,4 kilomètres à 7%, idéal pour définir, encore un peu plus, le classement général.

Samedi 20 juillet – Etape 20 : NICE > COL DE LA COUILLOLE (133 km)

Au lendemain d’une étape dantesque en altitude, c’est une étape courte de 133 kilomètres entre Nice et le Col de la Couillole qui sera la dernière occasion pour les grimpeurs de briller. Avec le col de Braus , le col du Turini et La Colmiane avant d’entamer le dernier col de la journée, c’est une étape très compliquée avant l’ultime contre-la-montre de Nice . « Il n’y aura ensuite aucun répit dans l’ascension des cols de Turini, de la Colmiane et enfin de la Couillole, avec une montée finale de 15,7 km à 7,1 % de pente moyenne. On retient notre souffle ! » se réjouit Christian Prudhomme .

Dimanche 21 juillet – Etape 21 (CLM ind.) : MONACO > NICE (34 km)

Pour clôturer le Tour de France 2024 , c’est un contre-la-montre de 34 kilomètres entre Moncaco et Nice qui sera le juge de paix pour le maillot jaune . Trente-cinq ans après le duel entre Laurent Fignon et Gred Lemond , les organisateurs ont choisi un effort individuel en guise de dernière étape. « On ose rêver d’un match, à deux ou à trois, une confrontation athlétique absolue dont l’issue déterminerait le podium final de la 111e édition, la première dont l’arrivée sera jugée loin de ses bases parisiennes, sur la place Masséna à quelques tours de roues de la Promenade des Anglais » , espère Prudhomme .

Stage 3 - Tour de France stage 3: Biniam Girmay wins bunch sprint in Turin as Richard Carapaz takes yellow / As it happened

The 2024 Tour de France had barely begun before Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty) made a page of cycling history with a bunch sprint victory in Turin, becoming the first ever Black African to win a stage of cycling’s biggest bike race. The Eritrean’s groundbreaking win came after a mass crash inside the final kilometres saw various sprinters blocked and unable to sprint, although as it was inside the ‘safety zone’, all riders were awarded the same time . Following the crash, the better stage placings for Richard Carapaz (EF Education-Easy Post) enabled the former Giro d’Italia winner to become Ecuador’s first ever Tour de France leader, tied on time with previous maillot jaune Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates)   Stage 2 - Tadej Pogačar moves into maillot jaune as Kévin Vauquelin solos to victory on stage 2 / As it happened

Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa-B&B Hotels) delivered back-to-back glorious breakaway days at the Tour de France for the home nation, in the Italian Grand Départ no less, netting the stage 2 victory to Bologna after attacking away solo from his fellow escapees on the famous San Luca climb with 14km to go.

As the GC fight unfolded some three minutes down, it was déjà vu from the 2023 edition as Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) exploded into life on the second ascent, forcing Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) into a response. Only Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) and Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) could catch back on after the descent for home into Bologna. Pogačar moved into the yellow jersey for the first time since the 2022 race after dropping Romain Bardet (DSM-Firmenich PostNL) on the San Luca climb.

In what is due to be his  final Tour de France , Romain Bardet (DSM-Firmenich PostNL) rolled back the years to take the most stunning win of his career on stage 1 of the 2024 race, surviving a charging peloton by the barest of margins to net him a first-ever stint in the yellow jersey.

Bardet crossed the line with teammate Frank van den Broek after the DSM duo put on a masterclass on the road from Florence to Rimini, completing a breathless finish with only a few metres to spare from Wout van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) who took third.

2024 Tour de France information

The 111th edition of the Tour de France starts in Florence, Italy, on Saturday, June 29 and ends three weeks later in Nice on Sunday, July 21. It is the first time the Tour starts in Italy. The Tour de France will not finish in Paris as it usually does. Instead, the finish is in Nice to avoid the preparations for the 2024 Olympics Games, which begin just a week later in Paris.

The 2024 Tour de France route is 3,492km long with some 52,320 metres of overall elevation , passing through four nations – Italy, San Marino, France, and Monaco. It features two individual time trials for a total of 59km, four mountain-top finishes, a series of gravel sections on stage 9, and a final hilly time trial to Nice. The official route was unveiled on October 25 in a special ceremony in Paris.

Tour de France favourites and contenders : Defending champion  Jonas Vingegaard  (Jumbo-Visma) won his second GC title last year and, if he can recover from his crash injuries in time , will be back to defend his title against top rival Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates), who finished second overall. Vingegaard is likely to face a huge challenge from not just Pogačar, but also Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) and former teammate turned rival Primož Roglič (Bora-Hansgrohe).

• Tour de France 2024 route

The 2024 Tour de France includes 52,230 metres of vertical gain across 3497.3km of climbs, sprints and time trialling from Italy into France, with fewer high climbs than in the past and shorter stages. 

It is a balanced three weeks of racing that includes eight flat stages, four mountain-top finishes and two individual time trials, the final test against the clock is a hilly time trial to Nice that could create suspense. The race has 25km of racing above 2,000 metres and 27 mountains classified as second, first, or HC.

Florence, Italy, will host the team presentation, and stage 1 will roll out from Piazzale Michelangelo to open the Grand Tour for the first time.

Defending Tour de France champion  Jonas Vingegaard will again have a strong Jumbo-Visma team to support his quest for a third title, but this time, former team leader Primož Roglič has turned to rival as he looks to give Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe top billing. Vingegaard will also face huge challenges from Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep). 

In the flat stages, look for last year's green jersey victor Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) to contest for another title against Fabio Jakobsen , now with Team dsm-firmenich, and Caleb Ewan , now with Jayco-AlUIa. And fastman Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan) is back for an 18th pro season to mix it up in the sprints, on the hunt for a record-breaking 35th Tour de France stage victory.

And there will be opportunities across the three weeks for breakaway riders to shine, including the likes of Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal-QuickStep), Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) and Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck).

Bienvenue dans ce direct consacré à la première étape du Tour de France 2024, 111ᵉ édition de la Grande Boucle – et la première à ne pas arriver à Paris, à cause des Jeux olympiques de Paris 2024.

Quoi ? La première étape du Tour de France, qui part d’Italie. Long de 206 kilomètres, ce grand départ de la Grande Boucle attaque fort d’emblée. Entre Toscane et Emilie-Romagne, l’étape enchaîne les reliefs, et accumule plus de 3 600 mètres de dénivelé positif.

Où ? Après un départ de Florence, soit le treizième pays visité par la Grande Boucle, le peloton va sillonner l’Italie, du berceau de la Renaissance à la station balnéaire de la côte Adriatique, avec pas moins de sept difficultés disséminées sur le parcours.

Quand ? Le départ réel sera donné à 12 h 40 et les coureurs devraient passer la ligne d’arrivée à 17 h 34 s’ils roulent à une vitesse moyenne de 42 kilomètres-heure.

Sur quelles chaînes ? France 2, France 3 et Eurosport 1.

Qui anime le live ? Louise Le Borgne et Oscar Korbosli seront les gregarii du Kop d’Austerlitz pour lancer cette nouvelle édition du Tour.

Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty) a remporté, ce lundi, la 3ᵉ étape du Tour de France. Dès les tout premiers hectomètres, les coureurs de la Uno-X Mobility Johannes Kulset et Jonas Abrahamsen, le maillot vert, ont pris quelques longueurs d’avance sur le peloton. Après seulement 5 kilomètres, à l’avant, les Norvégiens décident de se relever et d’attendre le peloton.

À 66 kilomètres de l’arrivée, Fabien Grellier (TotalEnergies) relance l’allure. Mais le Français est seul à l’avant et se fait reprendre à 29 kilomètres de la ligne. Dans l’emballage final, à deux kilomètres de l’arrivée, plusieurs coureurs vont au sol. Pris dans la chute, Jasper Philipsen (Alepcin-Deceuninck), n’a pas disputé le sprint.

À Turin, c’est Biniam Girmay qui s’impose au sprint devant Fernando Gaviria (Movistar Team) et Arnaud De Lie (Lotto Dstny). Après sa victoire sur le Giro en 2022 , Girmay décroche sa première victoire sur le Tour de France. Bien placé dans le final contrairement aux autres favoris, gênés par la chute, Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) s’empare du maillot jaune au jeu des places.

Number of the day: 3 hundredths of a second

Mark Cavendish could save three hundredths of a second in the simulated final of the seventh stage of the 2023 Tour de France with the fastest bikes in the field - Cannondale System Six, Canyon Aeroad or Cervelo S5.

That equates to about half a meter in our fast final with a projected 68 km/h final speed. Whether Mark Cavendish can be stopped by that? Probably not. In case of doubt, he will bend a bit lower over the handlebars and challenge physics with his incomparable body aerodynamics.

The (almost) entire field at a glance

What other factors could influence sprint performance from a material perspective?

In our model, we normally use the same tires everywhere. If we change the tire model, there is of course an effect here as well. In the simulated sprint, a 10% faster tire saves about a hundredth of a second. Of course, this immediately raises the question of whether there are tires that roll 10% more easily than others. According to our measurements, we can answer this with a resounding yes. There are even greater differences. However, these are extrapolations. There are no rolling resistance data collected at sprint speeds.

According to TOUR measurements, the fastest road tire at present is the Conti 5000 S TR TT - the tubeless time trial version of the road tire. This tire would even save just under two hundredths in the outlined final compared to other fast road tires. Unlike some other TT tires, the Conti TT- tire is a full race tire with good puncture protection and good grip. Only the tread is thinner and the durability correspondingly lower.

This tire has therefore been spotted many times at this Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar rides on it, for example. Our reporters have even spotted the tire on teams that are not sponsored by Conti. Will Cavendish, whose team rides on Vittoria tires, also use it? We'll be watching closely.

*) The calculations are based on the bikes tested by TOUR in the laboratory and wind tunnel. The bikes at the Tour de France may differ in details. Of course, we have not yet been able to examine last-minute prototypes either.
