Here’s where the magic happens – down on the farm where the cows live. They can explore the fields and hang around with the other cows, while the farmers look after them and give them everything they might need to be healthy. There’s lots of different things that go into making really good milk, which include giving the cows the best living conditions possible.

Fields of plenty

We all know cows eat grass, but there are many other things that make up a healthy cow diet.

As well as fresh grass, they can eat different fruit and vegetable pulps, such as oranges that have been squeezed for juice, or apples, wheat and corn.

These sorts of foods naturally provide a lot of energy, and are used to support the cows’ energy intake in the wintertime or when more milk is needed.

The milking parlour

Every day, the cows wander over to the milking parlour to be milked! There are many different types of milking parlour, with lots of different milking equipment that make it all a bit easier than using a bucket and stool like in the olden days.

While some farmers will encourage their cows to be milked at a set time during the day, other farms have automatic milking equipment so each cow can choose when she wants to be milked.

Looking their best

Cows have a regular health and beauty routine, with pedicures at least twice a year, and a brush for daily exfoliation.

The farmer will trim a cow’s hooves regularly to keep her feet healthy and protect against developing mobility problems.

Cows can also have access to a cow brush, a motion-activated heavy duty rotating brush that helps to exfoliate their skin and keep them clean. It’s also fun for the cows, helping to calm and relax them whenever they want!

You might be surprised by where you’ll find Arla products! We supply milk, cheese and other ingredients to nearly 200 different businesses in the UK, helping them to make the food you enjoy.

virtual farm tour uk

A lot of chefs and baristas up and down the country working in pubs, restaurants and hotels rely on us to provide quality ingredients, like the milk in McDonalds, the mozzarella on your Pizza Express margherita pizza, and the cream cheese used in Pret a Manger sandwiches.

We know how important it is for businesses to get the best ingredients they can, so we’re here to help them with all their dairy needs so you can enjoy great tasting milk and dairy products even when you’re out and about!

Arla’s family of brands live here, filling the shelves with all of your favourite dairy products which help nurture your strength from within. This means that they can be part of a healthy, nutritious diet for almost everyone, from kids with the Arla Explorer range to those looking to pack more protein into their diet with Arla Protein.

No matter the type of dairy you want to enjoy, it has to come in something! That’s why we’re always trying to make our packaging materials more sustainable and better for the environment, as well as making everything as recyclable as possible.

virtual farm tour uk

We know we need packaging for all our products, so we work with teams of experts and supermarkets who buy lots of our milk and other products to reduce the impact we have on the environment by working together. By taking steps like using less fossil fuel based plastic and using more recycled materials in our packaging, we’re bringing down our impact on the environment and getting closer to our goal of being carbon net zero by 2050.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

virtual farm tour uk

We want all our dairy farms to be sustainable and to impact the environment as little as possible. That’s why we look at ways to reduce our carbon footprint across all of Arla to help take care of our planet.

Our farmers do lots of work to help reduce the carbon footprint (and hoofprints) of their dairy farms, reducing the amount of electricity we use and the amount of waste we produce . Our organic farms also work to help nature and wildlife flourish in and around their farms, making sure other animals still have access to their natural homes and food sources.

virtual farm tour uk

The trucks which take fresh milk from the farms to our factories are checked regularly so we can take the best routes from A to B and cut down on the amount of fuel we use, which helps us lower our emissions. All 9,900 of our farmers are on a missions to become completely carbon net zero by 2050, so we’re always looking at fresh ways we can make our carbon footprint smaller.

the Factory

virtual farm tour uk

Arla is so much more than just milk. It’s here in the factory that everything comes together, turning all that delicious fresh milk into the products you know and love. Whether it’s turning it into fruity yogurts, tasty cheese or filtering the milk so it stays fresher for longer, our factories have processes to make the most of the milk from our Arla cows.

All together, we have over 60 dairies and 120 warehouses which process over 12.8 billion kilograms of milk ever year! We source all our extra ingredients from our lovely farmers and partners to make sure everything we make is as good as it can be.

virtual farm tour uk

We also work with a bunch of great businesses who have values and ideas that match our own, like wanting to reduce our environmental impact on the planet and provide real value to our customers – not just with money, but nutritionally and ethically too.

Did you know?

Some farms have a set time each day for the herd to be milked, while other milking parlours use robots so that each cow can decide when she wants to be milked!

Cows love to spend time with their friends! Evidence suggests that cows have best friends that they recognise and hang out with. Cows can even recognise different humans just as well as they recognise other cows.

Arla Farmers don’t just milk the cows, they own the company! So when you buy any Arla product, you are helping to support the farmers and their families.

Cows have pedicures at least twice a year! Cows also have access to a cow brush to help them to exfoliate their skin. Cows enjoy being pampered as it helps them to relax.

We all know cows eat grass, but there are many other things that make up a healthy diet. As well as fresh grass, they can eat various fruit and vegetable pulps, such as oranges.

Cows spend around 3 hours a day eating! They pull out grass with their tongues and chew from side to side instead of up and down.

Some of our Arla farmers track their herd using pedometers, which are a kind of fitbit for cows. It helps them to keep a close eye on every cow so they can make sure they’re well cared for.

Black and white cows are part of the Holstein-Friesian breed. Their black and white markings are unique to each cow – much like a fingerprint is to a human!

Cows love to spend time with their friends! Evidence suggests that cows even have best friends that they recognise and hang out with.

Milk is full of natural nourishment! It’s naturally high in many nutrients and can help keep you healthy.

We want all our dairy farms to be sustainable and to impact the environment as little as possible. Our farmers do lots of work to help reduce the carbon footprint (and hoofprints) of their dairy farms, such as reducing electricity usage and waste production.

Life on the farm is hard work! Typically, an Arla farmer will get up at 5am to milk and feed their cows before they sit down for breakfast – even on Christmas day!

Healthy cows are happy cows! Our farmers take the time to check that their cows are healthy at least once a day, making sure they get 10 hours of rest, good quality feed and special care if they’re unwell. Every cow is treated as an individual to give them a good life on the farm.

Welcome to cronkshaw fold.

Whoa you scrolled all the way down here! Kudos to your thumbs!

We're located in the beautiful Alden Valley in Northern England (think of a cross between Downton Abby and Winterfell)

We want to grow the most delicious food we can, in as much abundance as we can, with the smallest carbon footprint we can while encouraging as much wildlife and biodiversity across the farm as we can! Doing all of these things at once is a proper challenge. We're constantly trying to get better by researching and trying out new ways of farming and managing the land. Our current focus is on converting the whole farm to run hydrocarbon free (so no petrol, diesel, gas, hydrocarbon based fertilizers - it's a biggy!) We want to do everything we can to reduce the effects of climate change as quickly as possible.

We farm poultry, meat goats and sheep alongside our kitchen gardens, honey bees and broadleafed woodland. We use farming practices that promote healthy soils, care for the countryside, increase local wildlife and preserve traditional rural skills such as dry stone walling, hedge laying, coppicing and companion planting.

All of our livestock are farmed in line with the RSPCA "5 freedoms" philosophy and have access to large outdoor spaces for grazing and foraging during fair weather including species rich mowing meadows. They also have indoor weatherproof accommodation for poor weather. Death is not a taboo subject here - all our animals are for food and are either killed on site (poultry) or at our local abattoir which is a 25 minute drive from us.

Climate change is something we are very concerned about. We have a great sense of urgency to do all we can to prevent our contribution towards emissions and help our visitors to do the same. This includes working towards changing our current farming practices in order to grow produce with a lower carbon footprint. We are also working hard to raise money to invest in renewable power technologies so we can produce and store energy on site - we're most of the way there with this one after installing 61 solar panels, 3 tesla powerwalls and a heat pump in 2022, woohoo!

Blog Farming

https://defrafarming.blog.gov.uk/2021/02/18/our-virtual-farm-visits/

Our virtual farm visits

I grew up in rural Devon in the village of East  Worlington  and have worked on my family’s poultry and sheep farm for years. Although I now live in the north-east, I still make it home to help with lambing each year.

Working  in Defra means I can see the drive my colleagues have to create the best future for the agricultural sector, and we have a vast array of skills and experience to make that happen.

However, we need to keep learning, to understand what it is like to run a farm on a day-to-day basis. To make sure our policies work, we must look at the world from the farmer's point of view.

I also know from experience that farmers have a huge desire to improve the environment whilst maintaining a profitable business. Farmers want to work with government and have their say on the policies that affect them.

Farm visits are an opportunity for farmers to show us round their farms, to tell us about the issues they are facing, and to make clear the realities of farming. Few things are more compelling and impactful than hearing someone speak about their own experiences. Along with our co-design and engagement work, this is another way for farmers to do that.

It is in linking these things   that I feel I can contribute the most. I help to arrange Defra’s farm visits for the programme.

Before COVID-19 came along, farm visits enabled Defra staff to meet farmers and land mangers on site and have open conversations.

Defra has been running farm visits for around 3 years. They have proven to be highly successful.

Visits take place across England from farms in Cornwall to Cumbria and everywhere in between; covering various sectors including dairy, pig, poultry, arable and mixed.

Due to the restrictions with COVID-19, farm visits stopped in early 2020. But the experience was too valuable to abandon, so we adapted and created virtual farm visits instead. And  they have been great.

Virtual farm visits can be accessed by a much larger number of people, the largest being over 150 on a single visit (typically just 6-8 staff would have gone on a site visit). It is also much more accessible for staff who may have restrictions preventing them from attending in person.

The virtual visits follow a similar agenda. The farmer gives an introduction and then shows a pre-recorded video that they have filmed. I always emphasise to the farmer that they show us what they feel is important, what they wish to showcase and to focus on areas of most concern. This can range from issues surrounding black grass, implications of banning certain pesticides and many other daily challenges.

We then follow up with a Q&A session. The range of questions is always extremely broad and shows the various interests and backgrounds that Defra staff have. This isn’t just a nice conversation - the farmer’s insightful answers feed directly into our policy thinking.

It also fits more conveniently into the farmer’s day. They don’t have to make time to manage visitors and they can film clips on their phones when it suits them.

The enthusiasm that farmers have  shown for these virtual visits has been amazing. I have been surprised by the quality of the videos shot on a mobile phone. You can see for yourself in the video.

The willingness of farmers to open their doors to Defra has allowed some incredibly rewarding visits to happen, and for us to capture some great insight to inform our thinking. Everyone is keen for physical farm visits to return once restrictions allow but, for now, w e’re glad to have an effective and safe work-around.

If you have any questions or if you’d like to host a farm visit, please feel free to email my team: [email protected]

Finally, thank you to the farmers who appear in the video, which gives a sense of what the virtual farm visits are like.

I found this an excellent introduction. The farmers and the production standards suggest genuine commitment to engaging with an audience that quite frankly needs something more authoritative than Countryfile. As an Arch who is keen to be involved with this engagement I was particularly interested in the comments regarding setting land aside for nature. In my case, setting aside for Archaeology and depth of ploughing. But also if farmers have an understanding of what’s beneath the ground it can be a positive influence on planting and usage regimes. I look forward tomorrow of these conversations.

Comment by Peter Green posted on 19 February 2021

Great introductory video with passionate farmers who want to help the industry move forward. Thanks for sharing.

Comment by Craig Thompson posted on 24 February 2021

Sounds a great initiative. Is there a programme of planned virtual visits? How are they publicised? Are past visits recorded and available to be accessed?

Comment by Graham Higgins posted on 25 February 2021

Hi Craig, the virtual visits are made for internal use so the Future Farming team can meet and talk to as many farmers and land managers as possible to better understand how they work and the issues they face. They do happen roughly every few months depending on the availability of contributors. We will continue to share more videos as much as we can. The best way to find out more is to keep an eye on the blog. Thanks for your comment and questions. Graham

Comment by Emma Bailey-Beech posted on 04 November 2021

I loved the snippet of video's combined - clearly I missed a few when they were first published, so will go back and review them. It's lovely to get that exposure to farms all over the place - thanks to those farmers that take part!

Five sefari research farms - take a tour from your sofa.

27 Mar 2021

Sheep in a field

With the pandemic turning our lives upside down, the use of digital communication has accelerated overnight. Webinars, Teams meetings, Digital classrooms, Virtual brainstorming boards, to name but a few. They have all helped in keeping us connected from the safety of our own homes. However, these virtual technologies achieve so much more than simply enabling conversations to continue.  They have removed barriers - social, physical, economic, geographical - and in removing these barriers they have made research more accessible.

In this blog, Dr Lorna Cole, discusses the recent creation of a series of virtual tours at five of our leading SEFARI research farms, in a SEFARI Gateway Responsive Opportunity funded project. The tours are readily accessible through the Google Earth platform, giving everyone access to the countryside and allowing us to learn more about the research that is being conducted on SEFARI’s research farms.

Across the globe the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how people work, communicate, socialise and learn. As an active person who is always out and about doing things, I personally have found this a great challenge. I am missing the simple things in life that I have always taken for granted. Popping into my mum’s for a tea and a chat, meeting friends for coffee (or wine!), or finding a new hill to climb. During the week I am now confined to a little desk in the corner of my kitchen, it is a nice kitchen, but that desk is become tiresome. I, and I’m sure like many of you, can’t wait to get back out when we can. For me that will involve returning to the workplace, to my colleagues and my students, and to undertaking field work on farms.

However, during this challenging period, virtual technology has undoubtedly helped researchers from across the SEFARI institutes to share their research findings with wider audiences. Researchers have created webinars , virtual reality tours , videos etc. and even created online education resources to help with home schooling. This kind of innovation has been invaluable, helping events like Arable Scotland to continue, albeit in a virtual environment.

Therefore, and as part of LEAF ( L inking E nvironment A nd F arming) Open Farm Sunday on 28 th of March, we are now also launching five new virtual SEFARI farm tours covering widely diverse farming systems across Scotland. The LEAF Open Farm Sunday initiative enables farmers to open their doors, to young and old, so that everyone can see and experience the reality of farming life for themselves.  Enabling people to visit the SEFARI research farms allows us to illustrate how our research can help with the major challenges facing society; from climate change and biodiversity declines, to animal welfare and precision farming – and all from the safety of a sofa!

On the tour of Glensaugh Farm , situated in the uplands of Aberdeenshire, you can visit the home of the James Hutton Institute’s Climate-Positive Farming Initiative. Here visitors can listen to researchers discuss their research on grazing management of upland systems, woodland expansion and renewable energies.

At SRUC ’s Kirkton and Auchtertyre Farms , in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, visitors can hear about the challenges faced by upland hill farmers. The tour enables listeners to learn about the diversity of research being undertaken by the Hill and Mountain Research Centre to help farmers meet these challenges.

While at Balruddery Research Farm, you can visit the James Hutton Institute’s Centre for Sustainable Cropping . Researchers at this arable farm on the outskirts of Dundee explore how agro-ecological principles can be incorporated into arable systems to benefit both production and the environment.

On the tour of SRUC’s Crichton Royal Farm , you will be transported to the lush green pastures of Dumfries and Galloway, home to the Langhill dairy herd . At Crichton Royal Farm, a variety of precision agricultural technologies are enabling researchers to monitor every move this unique herd of dairy cows make.

Finally, when you visit the Moredun Research Institute’s Firth Mains Farm near Roslin, you can learn about how scientists are tackling parasites and diseases that impact the health & welfare of our livestock - a major constraint on the efficiency of livestock production.

Altogether through the virtual SEFARI farm tours , visitors can explore the diversity of different agricultural systems that make up the unique landscapes of Scotland. From intensive grasslands in the west, to productive arable land in the east, and extensively managed uplands that constitute approximately 70% of all agricultural land in Scotland. Visitors can learn about the challenges faced by farmers across Scotland, and the ground-breaking research that is being conducted across SEFARI – we do hope you enjoy the tour.

Dr Lorna Cole , Agricultural Ecologist, Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC).

Virtual environments, augmented reality and 360-degree video technology are powerful new tools in research, knowledge exchange and public experience of the Institute's assets and activities. Our Agroforestry Virtual Farm Tour showcases agroforestry in our Glensaugh hill farm setting.

The Agroforestry Virtual Farm Tour was developed in 2019 with funding assistance from the Macaulay Development Trust , and is being further developed, with other exciting applications in the pipeline - keep an eye on this page for updates and information about our new Virtual Tools as they are released for viewing.

The Tour can be viewed on a laptop/tablet/desktop, and also on an android phone and headset as an immersive experience. It is accessed via the initial information page, which also allows access to further resources such as drone footage of the site and information on the original agroforestry research project. More information on the agroforestry research project can also be found here .

You can take the Virtual Tour here

The 360-degree videos give the opportunity to view the agroforestry plots and move around either using the mouse or tilting your head (if using a headset). The site is fully interactive and allows you to take the tour of your choosing.

By clicking on the individual plots you can enter each of the sites and experience the reality of being in the woodland environment.

The visual records embedded in the Tour give additional information, for example allowing the different ground cover to be explored and compared to the canopy cover and light levels under the different treatment plots. Further information about the plots can also be accessed via embedded hotspots.

The drone footage also gives an aerial oversight of the agroforestry plots and surrounding landscape in the area.

We would welcome any feedback, including additional information you would like access to or additional functionality you think the Tour would benefit from.

For more information or to give feedback on the Agroforestry Virtual Farm Tour, please contact Claire Hardy or Malcolm Collie .

One Big Ocean Online Curriculum

“One Big Ocean” is an online curriculum from Ocean.org. They have three different programs customized for the level of school. These can be used by themselves, or paired with a real or virtual visit to any aquarium.

And while they haven’t been going live, they have been posting videos to the Georgia Aquarium Facebook page .

Shedd Aquarium (USA)

You might have seen the video going around of the Shedd Aquarium’s penguins taking their very own personal tour of the aquarium’s exhibits. If you haven’t, you should check it out.

In addition to the one live stream we found on their site so far, the Shedd Aquarium also has a great series of videos just for kids called “Sea Curious”. They also have some really cool 360 degree videos of sharks!

The Aquarium of the Pacific (USA)

The Aquarium of the Pacific is located in Long Beach, California. They have several webcams that allow you to visit virtually. You can see penguins both above and below the water, a shark lagoon, sea jellies, a tropical reef, blue cavern, and colorful anthias and wrasse exhibit.

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium located on the Gulf Coast in Clearwater, Florida is home to Winter and Hope, the rescued dolphins whose stories were the basis for the movies “Dolphin Tale” and “Dolphin Tale 2”.

You can virtually visit Winter and Hope, along with Nicholas and PJ. The aquarium also has views of its otters, pelicans, and sea turtles.

The Clearwater Aquarium even has downloadable lessons in language, math, and science to go along with a real or even virtual visit to the aquarium. There is also an online Kid Zone with games, activities, and experiments.

California Academy of Sciences (USA)

As the name suggests, the California Academy of Sciences is not just an aquarium. The San Francisco facility is also a natural history museum with a rainforest exhibit and planetarium.

There are a few webcams that allow you to visit right from home. You can look in on penguins, stingrays, a coral reef, and even take control of a camera at the top of a lighthouse on the nearby Farallon Islands.

Atlantic White Shark Conservancy

Facebook Lives weekdays at 10am @AtlanticWhiteShark . Resources on the website.

Farm Virtual Field Trips

young boy points to a goat at a farm

While farms are different than zoos, they can be just as educational and rewarding in connecting us to nature, whether we visit in person or virtually.

Hen Cam (USA)

The Hen Cam comes from a backyard outside Boston, Massachussetts. The feed switches automatically between 3 cameras showing the hens outside and inside. You might also see goats and a bunny named Phoebe.

Peter’s Farm (Holland)

You can see a live stream of the cows, and maybe even some baby calves, at Peter’s Farm in Holland. The stream is only during operating hours, but there is also some YouTube footage for when it isn’t live.

Folly Farm (UK)

Folly Farm has a cute webcam that gives you a peek at its farm animals like sheep, goats and donkeys. The website also lists penguin, giraffe, and lion webcams from the zoo, but they were not working when we visited.

Farm Sanctuary (USA)

This sheep barn camera is at the Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen , New York. They also have a recorded virtual tour of the farm showing you some of their other animals.

Goats Live (??)

Not sure where it is coming from, but this camera is pointed at some goats and streams 24 hours a day.

Farm Food 360 (Canada)

Farm Food 360 has virtual tours of all different kinds of farms. There are milk & cheese, dairy cow, sheep, pig, mink, grain, egg, and oat farms, feed mills, and an apple orchard.

Chatsworth Farm (Canada)

Chatsworth Farm is an over 2,000 acre family-run farm in Canada where they grow grain and legume crops, alfalfa, and raise beef cattle, sheep, turkeys, ducks, and chickens for eggs and meat. They have a few video tours on their webpage and they’ve also been live streaming recently on the Chatsworth Farm Facebook page .

Horse Shoe Farm (USA)

This camera pans back and forth showing the outdoor pens of the Horse Shoe farm in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The horses are not always outside, though.

Explore.org Webcams (Worldwide)

Explore.org has countless live streams from all over the world that you can choose from, including several locations already mentioned in this post. But our favorites are the ones you can view outside of a zoo, aquarium, or farm setting.

Some of these also have great audio, so you can make it full screen, turn up the volume, and have a window to the world. Great for background or meditation.

  • Tembe Elephant Park (Africa)
  • Honeybees going in and out of a hive
  • Flying Foxes (bats)
  • Hear Orcas (and occasionally see them) underwater
  • Sea Lions hauled out onto rocks

Wolf Conservation Center

The Wolf Conservation Center in New York is dedicated to protecting and preserving wolves in North America. They have several live feeds of various species of wolves. And if you want to learn a little about wolves , you can do that, too.

Bald Eagle Cam (USA)

Despite being the national symbol of the United States, we don’t get to see Bald Eagles all that much. But with the camera set up at Duke Farms in New Jersey, we can look right into a Bald Eagle’s nest! They even have a scavenger hunt you can print out for the kids to watch the nest and see if they spot any of those things.

Satellite images provide key to virtual farm tour

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) is using satellite imagery to offer virtual tours of its upland research farms in Perthshire.

Usually at this time of year, farm and research staff at SRUC’s Hill & Mountain Research Centre would be hosting two or three visits a week to Kirkton & Auchtertyre farms.

However, given the current restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic, they have come up with a novel way to highlight some of the wide range of activities on the farms.

Following the example set by Cath Seeds, Programme Leader for Countryside Management at SRUC – who developed a virtual field trip for students just as lockdown started, they are using Google Earth to offer farm tours.

John Holland, an Upland Ecologist at Kirkton & Auchtertyre, has used an extensive photo library to develop three virtual tours looking at the biodiversity management and cultural history and archaeology of the farms, and the public or ecosystem services they provide.

As the farms are a LEAF (Linking the Environment & Farming) Innovation Centre, they chose LEAF’s Online Farm Sunday event on Sunday 7 June to launch the tours.

Davy McCracken, Head of the Hill & Mountain Research Centre, said: “The tours provide a fascinating insight into the farms and we are pleased at how well they were received by attendees at LEAF’s Online Farm Sunday event.

“Although we will get back to hosting face-to-face meetings on-site at some point in the future, such virtual tours provide an alternative way of bringing the farms to others. We are investigating what other aspects of research on the farms – such as our use of sensor technology – could also be illustrated in this way and used for our own virtual events.”

The tours can be accessed at: bit.ly/3h3g5BO on Google Chrome (if using a desktop and laptop) or on mobile phones.

Online Farm Tour

Here’s what we cover in the 3-video tour:.

• Learn the #1 step that farmers CANNOT skip when raising food (...yet many do)

• Learn why foods today contain less than half their minerals compared to 100 years ago

• Discover a historically-proven farming model that restores minerals back to YOUR food

• Go alongside us on pasture and see inside our portable hen houses (TRULY BEHIND THE SCENES)

Your Definition of Healthy Food is About to Change...

Here's your tour itinerary:.

Video 1 (6:31) -  Explore our farm's cattle operating and see first-hand how ruminant grazing animals may be the most effective means to regenerate our food system literally from the ground up.

Video 2 (4:43) -  Immerse yourself in the "pigness of the pig" and learn how these critters can play a vital role in a regenerative farming system. Find out why Scientific American recently featured our pigs in their world-wide publication.

Video 3 (5:02) -  Discover how a life of a mere hen can play an integral in the overall health of our farm's ecosystem. We'll also expose some tricky and misleading label claims slapped on egg cartons in order to charge you a premium price at the checkout line.

Ready to experience our farm for yourself?

Meet your farmers & tour guides , what are people saying about the farm tour.

"Excellent! Great job of explaining the importance of life in the soil and 100% grass fed beef. Looking forward to visiting your farm in October." - Cheri D.

"What a beautiful way of life! My two young children (5 & 3) watched with me. We had some wonderful discussion about “happy cows,” soil, mono/polyculture. My daughter loved the part where the cattle was released into the next day’s pasture and they all started running and kicking their feet up with excitement! Thanks for sharing!" - Cybele M.

"I have always heard that grass fed is the healthiest for you but never understood why. Your videos are so informative and explain in a simple way to understand why it’s the healthiest for you. Thank you so much for doing what you do and for taking the time to make these videos to help people understand. Much gratitude for the work you’re doing thank you again !" - Shirly

Where is Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm and can the public visit?

Jeremy Clarkson in Clarkson's Farm

Jeremy Clarkson is back for season 3 of hit series Clarkson’s Farm this week.

The former  Top Gear  star, 63,  swapped fast cars for farming  in recent years,  with cameras following his efforts  after purchasing land in the Cotswolds and establishing his Diddly Squat farm.

The show has been a massive hit for the streaming service Amazon Prime , with the latest season now available to watch.

This time around Jeremy, along with newly-minted farm manager Kaleb Cooper face plenty more challenges, including the death of some beloved animals , attacks by others and even an infestation of…mushrooms.

It’s now been three years since the series first hit screens and since the Diddly Squat Farm Shop has been established, fans have flocked to Chipping Norton to visit.

If you are one of the people planning a road trip soon, here’s everything you need to know about visiting.

Where is Diddly Squat Farm located?

Jeremy Clarkson on Clarkson's Farm

Jeremy Clarkson’s pride and joy – Diddly Squat Farm – is located in the heart of the C otswolds , in Oxfordshire.

Its address is 5-12 Chipping Norton Road, Chadlington, Chipping Norton, OX7 3PE .

That’s around two hours by car from central London, one hour and 20 minutes from Birmingham, and an hour and a half from Bristol.

Oxford is the closest big city, being just 40 minutes away by road.

Is Diddly Squat Farm open to the public?

The Diddly Squat Farm Shop sign

Jeremy’s rural retreat now boasts two attractions open to the public – the Diddly Squat Farm Shop and The Big View Café.

According to the official website , the shop (described as a ‘Cotswolds-based emporium of edible delights. And potatoes’) promises to stock ‘no-nonsense things’ that the public will like.

Items available to buy include clothing like caps, socks, T-shirts and jumpers, as well as candles and soaps.

For those looking to pick up something to try at home, there’s also honey, coffee, jams and honey.

The Big View Café boasts ‘incredible food’, the ‘best hamburgers in the world’ and a full bar, which will stock Jeremy’s own Hawkstone lager.

It is open from 9.30am-4.30pm Wednesdays to Sundays, as well as on Bank Holidays.

You can also order many of its products online for worldwide delivery.

It was also recently announced Amazon Fresh is also now stocking items from the shop.

What do we know about season 3 of Clarkson’s Farm?

Although there were concerns that Clarkson’s Farm might be cancelled after Jeremy wrote a column taking aim at Meghan Markle last year, Amazon later confirmed the show would be returning.

Last month the trailer was released , which began with a clip showing Jeremy being warned by the local council that he had to shut down the restaurant he had opened on the farm.

After deciding to also introduce pigs on the farm, a rollercoaster of emotions ensues, with Jeremy finding pig vomit in his jacket at one point, and watching two in action when breeding but then facing piglets dying in ‘alarming numbers’.

At another point, the stars of the show are forced to wear face masks as they enter a room filled with enormous mushrooms.

Part one has now been released and will be followed by part two next Friday with each batch consisting of four episodes

Clarkson’s Farm is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Where to watch Giro d'Italia live streams for free: 2024 schedule and more

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

The 2024 Giro d'Italia is well underway, with the first two weekends of the competition officially complete. If you're hoping to tune in, look no further. We've gathered everything to know about where to watch Giro d'Italia, including a free live stream. This option will also work for the Tour de France later this summer, so worldwide cycling fans are in luck.

The Giro d'Italia kicks off the Grand Tour, the three iconic global cycling races that define the sport. Giro d'Italia runs from May 4 to 26, while the Tour de France picks up in July and the Vuelta a España closes out the season in August. The race spans Italy and is broken up into 21 long, grueling stages, with a particularly harsh stretch through the Alps. Primož Roglič won the competition last year, but he has opted to sit out in 2024 in order to train for the Tour de France, paving the way for a new victor.

With the exception of most Mondays, the race is held every single day, so there's almost always some action you can catch. For US viewers, this will mean waking up a little early, since most of the races start at around 6:30 a.m. ET. Fortunately, the American streaming option we've outlined also keeps the races on demand, so viewers can catch up on a delay if they want. Below, you can find everything you need to know about live streaming the 2024 Giro d'Italia. Keep reading to learn how to access a free stream from anywhere.
