Underwood commented: “I’m a big fan of the ‘Narnia’ books and films, so I was really excited about seeing this new movie and writing and performing a song for it. I was blown away by the film, and I think people are going to be really excited when they see it. It’s the perfect holiday film.

“THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER presents an imaginative world that’s also relatable because it’s easy to connect the characters and themes to our own lives,” Underwood continues. “The land of Narnia represents a place where the young heroes truly belong. That inspired me to get together with David and Hillary and write ‘There’s a Place for Us,’ which says that for everybody, there’s a place where you’re powerful and where you belong. The movie and song are about finding that place where you fit in.”

“There’s a Place for Us” will receive major broadcast and online debuts this month, and will be available for purchase exclusively at iTunes on November 16th.

International cover versions of Underwood’s song will be recorded overseas in a small number of select countries, broadening the impact of this worldwide release.

28 Clips From the ‘Dawn Treader’ Soundtrack

by Glumpuddle · November 14, 2010

You can listen to twenty-eight short clips here .

The music is another area of this film that makes it feel like a fresh start for the series. Ever since it was announced that David Arnold would be replacing Harry Gresgon-Williams, fans have been discussing how similar his music would be to the previous two films. Would Arnold stick to the themes that were established in “Wardrobe” and “Caspian” or would he take it in a new direction? So far, it sounds like he has done both.

Thanks to ‘G’ and everyone else who sent this in!

I love the music soundtrack! i am going to buy the soundtrack…..please give me the updated for the soundtrack!

' src=

One of the most blatant "influences" would have to be in track 5 – Land Ahoy. Listen to that, and then listen to this – Shooting Star from the Stardust soundtrack (1:07 being where the relevant part starts): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5exhwAvO3-M XD

' src=

i'm absolutly in love with the music, i think it sounds perfect for narnia. High King and Queen of Narnia is lovely because its from prince caspian. Does anyone else think that land ahoy sounds exactly like the music from the movie stardust? 🙂

' src=

Well, uh I have no idea what to say. I like some, but they all sound like they are from old movies, I don't like the begining of Lucy and the Mansion, it sounds too Christmasy. I have to say I am kinda dissappointed, I liked the epic feel of the other music from the other two movies.

' src=

well….i was kind of hoping they would have tied in the old themes more. i was even hoping to hear Reep's theme of the french horn (my favorite!) and Caspian's theme. it sounds awfully….tingly. i dont know, that doesnt really seem right for Narnia to have so many tingly sounds. i was hoping for more epic, adventurous songs. the choice of instruments is very nice though, i was impressed with that. i espically love that violin in "Duel" and the lovely harp in "Lord Bern". "Aslan Appears" is very beautiful. i really loved that one, with the old Narnia theme in it (i was really really hoping they would do that for Aslan, so its great). i wonder whats going to be the part where the music goes crazy in "Temptation of Edmund"? that really surpised me. i really love all the hyper, sort of hopping music for Eustace. thats a nice theme there. i dont really like the music for the stars (any clip that had to do with the stars, including Aslan's table), that seemed too childish and….glittery? overall, the new themes are nice and all, but i was really hoping they would have kept alot more of the old themes. only about 3 times did i hear a hint of an old theme, which im quite dissapointed about. but, i shall say now, that it is indeed very beautiful and well done; i am impressed, but not as much i wish i could be. i am a person who doesnt like change, and usually prefer the familiar, so it might just be because this is new music and im not used to it yet. i do have confidence that it will sound great with the movie. my opinion? overall good, but i cannot say yet that i think its perfect and spectacular.

' src=

I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm bitching but these are just my thoughts. Anyway…

30 songs total; only 28 previews. Music by David Arnold.

Number 3 is beautiful and stirring… I think the new themes sound too much like "Stardust" though, most notably in the first two songs and 5, which is too cheesy. "Reepicheep" is sweet, although in this preview it lacks the sort of spirit that enobles Reepicheep's character, but I can definitely feel the LWW vibes. "Green Mist" sounds epic; I love the sound of that one. 9's a huge meh, so is 10 and 11. "Duel"'s awesome. Just the kind of thing that I wanted to hear in this soundtrack (although it sounds like a bastard son of the Tinkerbell movie main theme with Up is Down from Pirates 3). 13 – not much to say. 14 sounds too much like a Christmas song. 15 is building up to be good, imo. 16 is enthralling but nothing too special. Mostly, the best ones are reorchestrations of pieces by Harry-Gregson Williams, like 17. 18 sounds lazy but it's only, what, 51 seconds? 19's okay but I think it should be sneakier instead of loud if this occurs in the scene I think it does (Goldwater Island). 20, reminds me too much of the Peter Pan OST with hints of HP1. Again, no discerning theme whatsoever, just random little pieces here and there. 21 – mmkay. I'll have to see this with footage. 22, finally a more lovely piece, gosh I want some more. 23 way too cheesy. 24 bland, childish thing. 25- Honestly, this song reminds me of a videogame foe mini piece. 26 – The Calm before the- really? 27 – wait, what battle? 28- I think this is the one for the Silver Sea. BEAUTIFUL. AT LAST but it still is a rehash of the main Narnia theme (but I may like the BBC's take on this part a little bit more… it's more ethereal).

Generally unimpressive. The music does have a sort of more airy quality to it which may make it good but forgettable.

Couldn't discern a unifying theme but of course, these are still only previews and I may be being too critical with no reason… from what I'm hearing tho, the BBC version has much more memorable pieces.

Again these don't even show a taste of each piece so I may be surprised. Who knows? 🙂

' src=

what a great take on the old theme, specifically in "king and queen of narnia" it's a bit more classical sounding, not as modern as the first two

' src=

You swear like a sailor

' src=

Like i always say, its the music that makes the film. I like it. Very peaceful for the most of what i listened to but i gotta go like right now. I do miss Harry Gregson-Williams though, his music was so, smine tingling and made me feel like i really was in Narnia, this sorta does, but we haven't heard it all yet, and i can't wait for the soundtrack. *Explodes in a fit of rainbows*

Chibi Casue Go POOF

Spine, not smine, spine. I need spelcheck….

Chibi Casue Cries and proceeds to hug Reepicheep doll she made in Home Economics

' src=

At first I thought that the music was too light and well… pretty, I guess, but now I am starting to like it. There are some that I love and some that I don't like as much but still like. They're just only clips of the songs, so I can't make a final opinion. Exciting, though! 😀

' src=

AWESOME!!!! It has the same quality as the other soundtracks for LWW PC!

' src=

Wow.. They all sound so magical and adventurous! I can't decide which I like best! My favorites are probably: Market Forces, Duel, Temptation of Edmund, Dragons treasure, Under the Stars, Into Battle, and Sweet Water. But they are all beautiful! 🙂

' src=

Warriors for Jesus shouldn't go around calling people stupid for no apparent reason

' src=

OMG THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL. I knew David would do a wonderful job. I love how well he incorporated Harry's original Narnia theme and some of Harry's style into his score, but at the same time made it his own and gave a very distinct "sailing adventure" feel to it, which is perfect since VDT is so different a book from LWW and PC. It's very reminiscent of his 'Stargate' score (which I LOVE), but it has a very Narnian atmosphere to it. "Under the Stars" sounds so romantic 😀 And so does "Blue Star"–although beginning sounds a BIT too much like the "Stargate Opens" theme, but I can deal with that since it's gorgeous anyway.

And "Sweet Water"? Just…WOW. <3

:bd @ to be or not XD

' src=

You need to read what I wrote. I didn't call Nathan stupid, I called his behaviour stupid. Two very different things.

I think the first two movies generally had more forgettable music. There's no way this can be called generic.

you know what i really, really, REALLY hope they do is put in "One Breath" somewhere in the movie. you remember the song, the one that played during the train ride in LWW and then when they played on the beach in PC? thats like, Narnia's label song, to me anyway. its very beautiful and it fits in with all the Narnia stories. ever since i heard it in LWW i've been hoping that they would always put it in every Narnia movie, somewhere where it really fits and sounds amazing. they've done am amazing job at that already, and so i'll be sad if they dont put it in VDT. they just have to!

' src=

Whoa. This music is awesome, even compared to Wardrobe's soundtrack. (I didn't enjoy Caspian's soundtrack.)

' src=

Now I hate to sound bossy on you, Warrior, but you are a bit out of line. Isn't there a nicer way to ask Nathan to stop…doing whatever it is you don't like? You don't even sound sure that he's the same guy…

Really? Then modern day sailors must swear have reduced their swearing quota.

Really? Then modern day sailors must have reduced their swearing quota.

' src=

stop arguing, you guys r fighting bout something just like those guys in the last movie (after the raid part)

' src=

Hey, this is really good! I'm actually pleasently suprised. 🙂 I'm so glad he kept some of Harry Gregson-Williams' themes. I hate it when a new composer comes on and just completely ignores the previous scores… Good job David Arnold. 😀

' src=

lol the lone island track reminds me of prince of persia and aladdin totally…its funny how the composer is influenced by epic films..lol…and there is sure is alot of different styles in each track…its cool as the islands and the subplots in the film are very different which connects with each track….wow

' src=

Hmmm, good point. At least it's not too playful or bouncy. I can see them trying to make him be all cute and kiddie oriented. So at least they seem to be handling his character with some respect. The subdued nature may be a good thing for him after all.

' src=

yeah i heard some Harry Potter stuck in there too, i mean not too original, i think the first ones were better but still i haven't listened to the whole thing so i can't say whether i like it or not

I mostly agree, but I don't like the harp, it doesn't sound Narnian.

' src=

THEY'RE ALL AWESOME!!!!!!!! AM SOOOOO PUMPED THAT "THE THEME" IS IN THERE 🙂

' src=

I got that feeling too, kind of like disney's Pinnochio with the Blue fairy type sound. Probably supposed to sound "magical". Less "epic" sounding, for sure, more traditional orchestra sounds, less battleworthy. Beautiful, but typical. I'd say.

LOL , Warrior !

yeah, good point- sounds like old ballet class music- or very old disney- funny THIS movie sounds more disneyian than the disney narnia movies-

well this IS a sailor movie……..

you hit the nail right on the head- the first two were more modern scores, this new on e is more traditional classical music-

hey, can i have one? : )

someone asked them if the girl singing that song was in this too and they said no

are carrie underwood's song and the english x factor winner's songs going to be tacked on? I know carrie's is already on itunes but i dont want to download.

You just reminded me that it was released today! Got to listen to it now!

' src=

I was really critical of the first two scores, but at least Harry only plagiarized his own style. Unfortunately the only thing that sounds original and different in these clips are the remixes of Harry's work. The rest is poor imitations of music done better by other composers. Very disappointing considering I really thought I would love this score even if the movie was iffy.

' src=

I loved the under the stars one. I bet its going to be a scene were lucy and someone else are watching the stars on the ship right after learning that the stars are people.

I wasn't amazed by by most of them either. I loved the narnian music in the first two especially the first one. I'm glad he kept some of the old themes. I loved the under the stars one.

' src=

Lilliandil and Dark Island is my favorite! I love it – can't wait to hear the full version! DECEMBER 10TH!!!

' src=

Truthfully, I like some of the music he composed for the new movie, but it kinda lacks the power that Gregson-Williams brought to the pieces. When you listen to the soundtracks for the first two movies, your skin tingles and you get excited. I didn't really get that feeling from these new pieces, although they were all very beautiful. In my opinion, Gregson-Williams will truly be missed with the release of this new film.

' src=

yeah you're right these are all very beautiful tracks but none of them can reach the magic, the piece and the mistery of Harry's Score.

' src=

the music sounds amazing and opening titles is definetely my fave

' src=

Yes. I like these songs, but they aren't as magestic as Harry Gregson-Williams music. They don't seem quite right.

yeah, the first two soundtracks give me chills, this sounds merely pleasant.

' src=

I feel quite the opposite. I think Harry's Narnia scores tended to be too much "in your face" and repetitive for their own good. This one is more nuanced, varied and intricate. Definitely an improvement.

' src=

I really think that this music is lovely, but I am not overly impressed by it. It lacks some of the luster and majesty that Harry Gregson-Williams' music had. I think if Arnold had kept more of a similar instrumentation that Gregson-Williams did, it would sound more impressive. BUT I am very happy that he kept some of the old themes in this 😀

  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Ending Explained
  • UPDATED: September 19, 2023

Table of Contents

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the third installment in the popular fantasy film series based on C.S. Lewis’ beloved book series. Released in 2010, the film follows the adventures of the Pevensie siblings as they embark on a journey to find seven lost lords and save Narnia from an evil force.

As with any fantasy story, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has a complex and intricate plot that may leave some viewers scratching their heads, especially when it comes to the ending. In this article, we will attempt to unravel the mysteries and provide an explanation for those who may have been left confused.

At the end of the film, our heroes Edmund, Lucy, and their cousin Eustace find themselves face to face with Aslan, the great lion who serves as a symbol of good and wisdom in Narnia. Aslan reveals that their adventures in Narnia were not just random occurrences but rather part of a greater plan.

Aslan explains that each of their experiences on the voyage was meant to teach them important lessons about themselves and help them grow as individuals. Edmund learns to resist temptation and become a better leader, Lucy learns to trust her instincts and have faith in herself, and Eustace learns humility and compassion.

But perhaps the most significant revelation comes when Aslan tells them that they will never return to Narnia. This news comes as a shock to our heroes who have come to love this magical world and its inhabitants. However, Aslan reassures them that they will find him in their own world by seeking him with all their hearts.

This ending serves as a powerful metaphor for growing up and leaving behind childhood fantasies. It teaches us that while we may have cherished memories from our past, we must move forward and face new challenges in the real world. It also emphasizes the importance of self-discovery and personal growth, as our heroes have learned valuable lessons that will shape their futures.

Another important aspect of the ending is the resolution of the character arc for Eustace. Throughout the film, Eustace is portrayed as a selfish and obnoxious character who constantly complains about his situation. However, through his experiences in Narnia, he undergoes a transformation and emerges as a more compassionate and selfless individual.

The ending also ties up loose ends by revealing the fate of the seven lost lords. Our heroes manage to rescue them from an evil mist that had enchanted them, and they are reunited with their families in Narnia. This serves as a satisfying conclusion to their quest and provides a sense of closure for both the characters and the audience.

In conclusion, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader offers a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant ending. It teaches us important life lessons about personal growth, letting go of childhood fantasies, and embracing new challenges. While it may leave some viewers with mixed emotions, it ultimately provides a satisfying conclusion to this chapter in the Narnia series.

Chronicles Of Narnia In Order (Books & Movies)

  • Netflix is creating a film series adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia, with Greta Gerwig writing and directing the first two movies.
  • There is debate among fans about whether to read the Narnia books in release order or chronological order.
  • Previous adaptations of the Narnia books include a TV movie, a BBC film series, and three movies by Disney – the latter of which were well-received despite not completing the entire series.

With Netflix making a movie series adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia , it’s the perfect time to revisit the movies and books; however, understanding the right order isn’t agreed upon. Five years ago, Netflix acquired the rights to every book in The Chronicles of Narnia , the first movie company to purchase them all. They soon announced they’d be creating a mix of movies and a series that brought the Narnia books to the big screen. In the years since then, they’ve refined the plan. Netflix’s The Chronicles of Narnia will now only be films with Greta Gerwig writing and directing the first two.

As more news comes out about the upcoming film project, now is a great time for future viewers to get familiar with The Chronicles of Narnia . Author C.S. Lewis published the first Narnia book in 1950, gaining worldwide popularity. While he didn’t expect to write more than one book ( Collected Letters III ), Lewis would go on to write six more books in the series. Unfortunately, the release order conflicts with the chronological order , creating a debate within the fandom about which is the proper way to read the books. Multiple movie adaptations exist for each book, adding extra confusion to the Narnia franchise.

Geoffrey Bles originally published the first five Chronicles of Narnia books, and The Bodley Head published the last two.

How To Read The Chronicles Of Narnia Books In Chronological Order

  • The Magician’s Nephew (1955)
  • The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (1950)
  • The Horse and His Boy (1954)
  • Prince Caspian (1951)
  • The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1952)
  • The Silver Chair (1953)
  • The Last Battle (1956)

For a new reader, it’s better to read the Chronicles of Narnia books in chronological order instead of release order. This approach presents the events linearly, making it easier to follow from start to end. It has a clear start and end point in the timeline, rather than jumping around. C.S. Lewis even preferred this method of reading , according to a letter to a child published in the Collected Letters III . It’s also easier to find boxsets with this numbering and listing because the publisher HarperCollins switched universally to numbering the books chronologically. Any books with a different numbering were published before 1994.

How To Read The Chronicles Of Narnia Books In Release Order

Lewis first wrote The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe – objectively his most famous work – in 1950, five years before the prequel The Magician’s Nephew . Additionally, The Horse and His Boy follows the same time period as the end of the second chronological book, but it didn’t come out until four years later. This makes the story difficult to understand when read in release order.

However, by approaching the series this way, modern readers can experience the books how others did when the Narnia books first came out. Additionally, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe has more action and a faster pacing than The Magician’s Nephew . This makes it more captivating as a first book for readers with a lower attention span. By the time the prequel comes around in release order, there’s enough investment to get through it. Moreover, the first four Narnia books follow the Pevensie siblings , keeping the narrative tightly following a small group of people rather than exploring the larger world outside of Narnia .

10 Lessons Netflix's Chronicles Of Narnia Reboot Can Learn From The 2000s Movies

All chronicles of narnia movies in order.

  • The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (1979)
  • The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (1988)
  • Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1989)
  • The Silver Chair (1990)
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (2005)
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010)

Production companies have tried to adapt The Chronicles of Narnia multiple times for the big screen because of the phenomenal world-building, lore, and fantasy characters . The first time around, CBS created a two-part movie adaptation of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe for TV. As of the time of writing, this is the only animated version of the Chronicles of Narnia . The second time, the BBC took on the book franchise, making four of the books into a film. Interestingly, they combined Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader , two of the longest books in the series.

It took another fifteen years before Disney rebooted the franchise for the third time. With a Disney-level budget, the visuals looked impressive and realistic. The Chronicles of Narnia cast boasted big-name actors like Tilda Swinton and Liam Neeson and newer actors like Georgie Henley and William Moseley. Unlike previous versions of the famous book series, these movies went over exceptionally well. Disney adapted three of Lewis’ works with a three-year break between the first and second as well as a two-year break between the second and third.

Netflix's Chronicles Of Narnia Reboot Using The Original Books' Ending Would Be A Huge Mistake

Plans were in the works for a fourth movie, but the actors had aged out of the roles by the time the company announced plans for The Silver Chair . The director would’ve needed an entirely new cast , adding an extra layer of difficulty. Additionally, each movie in the franchise grossed less than the previous film, making it more difficult to justify making a fourth movie. In 2018, Netflix acquired the rights to the franchise and announced plans for an entirely new movie franchise, restarting The Chronicles of Narnia cinematic adaptations over again. Still, this unfinished movie franchise is still worth watching due to its high production quality and phenomenal acting.
