How to Set Presets and Tour on PTZ Cameras

A great feature that’s often overlooked on PTZ or pan tilt zoom cameras is the ability to set presets and tours. By setting presets and tours you can avoid having to actively watch and control cameras to monitor your property. A PTZ camera that’s scanning your home or business can be the best way to capture multiple areas without purchasing multiple security cameras.

PTZ cameras are appealing to purchase because of how easy it is to set Presets and Tours, especially on IP PTZ cameras. Camera movement patterns are useful for several monitoring applications, including parking lots, entrances, and alleyways. For parking lots you might want a PTZ to scan vehicles and individuals entering and leaving. Alleyways provide a great place for a PTZ to actively pan and zoom to look both directions.

Setting up automated surveillance can be a great convenience so that you do not have to actively monitor the camera. It is important to note that we do not recommend using continuous scans because continually using the motor will wear the mechanisms or belts rapidly and void the warranty. We suggest a dwell time of at least 15 seconds. Dwell time is when a PTZ pauses between presets positions.

Setting Up PTZ Tours

Nx Witness allows to create PTZ Tours. PTZ Tour is a sequence of PTZ Positions . It may be useful to move from one position to another automatically in a cycle to observe large locations  by a single Camera .

The following parameters can be configured for PTZ Tours:

• Positions . Tour can contain an unlimited number of PTZ Positions .

• Stay Time - the duration of time  for Camera to stay on PTZ Positions .

• Speed - the speed of Camera moving between PTZ Positions .

To configure PTZ Tours :

1. Open Context Menu and select PTZ... -> Manage . The following window will appear:

2. Move the form aside,  so that the item and its PTZ controls are fully accessible (as shown at the picture above).

3. Make sure the list of positions contains a minimum of two positions.

4. Click Create Tour . A new item will appear in the bottom section:

5. Select PTZ Positions to include in Tour :

• To add Position click on "+" button

• To change , click on the desired Position and select another one:

• To change the order of Positions , select  desired Position and use arrows on the right to move it up and down the list.

• To delete Position select the desired Position and click on "-" button.

• Tour should contain at least two Positions .

• It is not recommended to use the same Positions in a row or select the same ones for the first and last Position .

• Warning appears if Tour has several identical positions.

6. Set Stay Time and Speed for each Position .

7. Test Tour by clicking Start Tour in the upper table.

8. Rename Tour if necessary ( in the upper table ) or set it as Home Tour (see " Home Positions and Tours for PTZ and Fish-Eye Cameras ").

9. Click Apply or OK when finished. To discard changes, click Cancel .

Setting Up PTZ Tours

A PTZ tour is a sequence of saved PTZ positions. PTZ tours are useful for observing a broad field of coverage with a single camera . T he following requirements apply:

• Can only be applied to a PTZ or fish-eye camera

• Must contain at least two positions

• The same position should not be used consecutively or as both the first and last position. A warning will appear if a tour contains multiple instances of the same position. Instead, define and use slightly different or overlapping PTZ presets.

To create a PTZ tour

1. Right-click on the camera item in layout and select PTZ > Manage from the context menu.

2. Make sure at least two positions are saved.

3. Click the Create Tour button . A Tours section will open at the end of the position list, with a default name New Tour <#> .

4. In the Details form, click the + button to add the first position to the tour. Continue to click + until you have added all desired positions.

5. Each tour position can be edited as follows:

• Click on the Stay Time field to select the display duration for a position

• Click on the Speed field to set the speed of the move from one position to the next (menu)

• Click on the Position field to select a different position (menu)

• Use the up and down arrows at the right to change the order of a position in the tour

• Click the + button to add a position

• Click the - button to delete a position

4. Click Apply to save the tour then click the Start Tour button to test it.

5. Optionally, rename the tour using the list Name field or assign it a Hotkey .

6. Optionally, check the Home box. The home tour will be activated on a camera automatically if there is no active PTZ tour.

7. Click Apply or OK when finished. To discard changes, click Cancel .

To start a PTZ tour

1. From the camera item in layout, open the context menu and select PTZ .

2. Select the desired tour from the list of saved tours (which is below the list of saved positions).

3. Alternately, open the context menu, select PTZ > Manage , highlight the desired tour in the list and click on Start Tour .

To stop a PTZ tour

A PTZ tour cannot be toggled on and off, it must be replaced with a static PTZ position. Either enable PTZ controls on the camera item and choose a PTZ position manually or choose a saved PTZ position (select one from the context menu or use a hotkey).

Scenes of flood-ravaged neighborhoods in one of the planet’s driest regions have stunned the world this week. Heavy rains in the United Arab Emirates and Oman submerged cars, clogged highways and killed at least 21 people. Flights out of Dubai’s airport, a major global hub, were severely disrupted.

The downpours weren’t a freak event — forecasters anticipated the storms several days out and issued warnings. But they were certainly unusual. Here’s what to know.

Heavy rain there is rare, but not unheard-of.

On average, the Arabian Peninsula receives a scant few inches of rain a year, although scientists have found that a sizable chunk of that precipitation falls in infrequent but severe bursts, not as periodic showers.

U.A.E. officials said the 24-hour rain total on Tuesday was the country’s largest since records there began in 1949 . But parts of the nation had experienced an earlier round of thunderstorms just last month.

Oman, with its coastline on the Arabian Sea, is also vulnerable to tropical cyclones. Past storms there have brought torrential rain, powerful winds and mudslides, causing extensive damage.

Global warming is projected to intensify downpours.

Stronger storms are a key consequence of human-caused global warming. As the atmosphere gets hotter, it can hold more moisture, which can eventually make its way down to the earth as rain or snow.

But that doesn’t mean rainfall patterns are changing in precisely the same way across every corner of the globe.

In their latest assessment of climate research , scientists convened by the United Nations found there wasn’t enough data to have firm conclusions about rainfall trends in the Arabian Peninsula and how climate change was affecting them. The researchers said, however, that if global warming were to be allowed to continue worsening in the coming decades, extreme downpours in the region would quite likely become more intense and more frequent.

The role of cloud seeding isn’t clear.

The U.A.E. has for decades worked to increase rainfall and boost water supplies by seeding clouds. Essentially, this involves shooting particles into clouds to encourage the moisture to gather into larger, heavier droplets, ones that are more likely to fall as rain or snow.

Cloud seeding and other rain-enhancement methods have been tried across the world, including in Australia, China, India, Israel, South Africa and the United States. Studies have found that these operations can, at best, affect precipitation modestly — enough to turn a downpour into a bigger downpour, but probably not a drizzle into a deluge.

Still, experts said pinning down how much seeding might have contributed to this week’s storms would require detailed study.

“In general, it is quite a challenge to assess the impact of seeding,” said Luca Delle Monache, a climate scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif. Dr. Delle Monache has been leading efforts to use artificial intelligence to improve the U.A.E.’s rain-enhancement program.

An official with the U.A.E.’s National Center of Meteorology, Omar Al Yazeedi, told news outlets this week that the agency didn’t conduct any seeding during the latest storms. His statements didn’t make clear, however, whether that was also true in the hours or days before.

Mr. Al Yazeedi didn’t respond to emailed questions from The New York Times on Thursday, and Adel Kamal, a spokesman for the center, didn’t immediately have further comment.

Cities in dry places just aren’t designed for floods.

Wherever it happens, flooding isn’t just a matter of how much rain comes down. It’s also about what happens to all that water once it’s on the ground — most critically, in the places people live.

Cities in arid regions often aren’t designed to drain very effectively. In these areas, paved surfaces block rain from seeping into the earth below, forcing it into drainage systems that can easily become overwhelmed.

One recent study of Sharjah , the capital of the third-largest emirate in the U.A.E., found that the city’s rapid growth over the past half century had made it vulnerable to flooding at far lower levels of rain than before.

1. Login to your IP PTZ camera via Internet Explorer.

2. Under, "PTZ Settings" click the drop down, and select, "Tour"

3. The box immediately below the drop down is the, "Pre-Set Number" This can be set to 1-8 (May vary by model) Ensure that this is currently set to, "1"

4. In the second box, input the first Pre-Set you wish to establish and click, "Add Pre-Set"

5. In the second box, input the second Pre-Set you wish to establish and click, "Add Pre-Set" Repeat this process for any additional Pre-Sets you wish to use.

6. Once complete, you can test your Tour settings by clicking, "Start"

How to buy tickets for Madonna's 2024 concert tour

Madonna tickets have been on sale for a while now, so all original ones via Ticketmaster are long gone.

However, Madonna tickets are still available through verified resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats .

How much do Madonna tickets cost?

The price for standard original tickets to Madonna's 2024 tour varies depending on date, location, and demand. For example, concert dates in major cities like New York City tend to be more expensive.

Standard original tickets still available on Ticketmaster a few weeks ago  were comparable to prices on verified resale platforms. However, the remaining original tickets have all been snapped up though, so resale vendors are your only hope now.

The Celebration Tour originally had VIP tickets available for premium prices. Madonna's 2024 concert series had The Immaculate VIP Package, Iconic VIP Package), You Can Dance Premium Ticket Package, and Where's The Party Premium Ticket Package. The prices for original tickets for each package on Ticketmaster started at $1,750, $895, $545, and $475, respectively.

Who is opening for Madonna's tour?

Madonna has not announced any additional opening acts for her 2024 concert dates. However, the artist is joined by Bob the Drag Queen, a special guest in each of her shows, who helps introduce the concert and interacts with Madonna as the emcee.

Will there be international tour dates?

Madonna's 2024 tour began with the international leg in Europe, so the only remaining concerts in The Celebration Tour outside the United States are in Mexico.

In April, she'll have five performances in Mexico City, where she'll take her final bow of The Celebration Tour on April 26.

2024 RBC Heritage leaderboard: Scottie Scheffler nears fourth win in five starts with event to finish Monday

Weather prevented the final round from completing, but scheffler is well on his way to continuing his hot streak.

Scottie Scheffler's fourth victory in his last five tournaments will have to wait one more day. With the 2024 RBC Heritage experiencing more than a 2.5-hour weather delay Sunday, tournament action was unable to be completed before nightfall; it will instead leak into the work week. The final round at Harbour Town Golf Links will resume Monday at 8 a.m. ET with Scheffler holding a five-stroke lead at 20 under.

The world No. 1 is well clear of his nearest pursuer, Wyndham Clark, with three holes left in his tournament. Clark, meanwhile, is in the clubhouse at 15 under hoping for another runner-up check behind Scheffler. Others on the golf course like J.T. Poston, Patrick Cantlay and Sahith Theegala stand at that same number with holes to play.

Monday morning may only be a formality as Scheffler looks to be in control of just about everything -- like he has been the last two months.

Scheffler began Sunday in Hilton Head Island with one arm already slipped in the tartan jacket. Possessing a one-stroke lead, the Texan was crowned by many late Saturday evening despite the bevy of stars who had plans to upend him.

After knocking in a 6-foot par save on the 1st, Scheffler more or less turned those predictions into a reality. Chipping in for eagle on the par-5 2nd from long of the green (his 11th hole-out from off the green this season), Scheffler opened a three-stroke lead on the field and never looked back.

Charges were made by many, including a familiar foe in Clark, but none were that threatening. The reigning U.S. Open champion turned in 7-under 29 and tacked on another birdie on the 11th to get within one of Scheffler, but the pressure of perfection proved too much.

Hitting a tree with his second shot on No. 12, Clark's ball ricocheted out of bounds and led to a double bogey. Another dropped shot came on the following hole and all but secured another near miss from the U.S. Open champion.

Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Åberg, Cantlay and Theegala all hovered on the first page of the leaderboard but never truly threatened. Instead, it was Patrick Rodgers who emerged as Scheffler's greatest threat thanks to an eagle-2 at the turn. A bogey a few holes later put an end to his Cinderella story.

Remaining in the wake of mistakes was a spotless Scheffler at 19 under, four ahead of the field. Turning in 3 under, the steadiest man in the game marched forward with a heavy diet of fairways and greens before a spell of thunderstorms halted his momentum on the par-4 12th.

Inclement weather was all that could stop Scheffler as the 27-year-old returned to the golf course more than two hours later and resumed his round without a hitch. While temperatures cooled and winds freshened, Scheffler was unaffected.

He picked off a birdie on the 13th to push his lead to five before a mud ball on the 15th led to his second finding the water on the par 5. It didn't matter as Scheffler launched a pitching wedge onto the surface, spinning it left and utilizing the slope to access the tucked pin. He avoided what would have been his first dropped shot since the 3rd hole on Thursday with an emphatic par save, and he will sleep easy Sunday night knowing five strokes separate him from the field and three holes separate him from victory.

Play called for evening

The final group is on the green on the par-5 15th meaning they will have three holes to play on Monday. Scottie Scheffler faces a par putt from 10 feet to maintain his five-stroke lead as he stands at 20 under.

Five clear with five to go!

The only thing that can stop him is the sunlight at this rate. Scottie Scheffler adds a birdie on 13 to get to 20 under and five clear of the crew at 15 under. Without the world No. 1 this tournament would be very, very good, but alas they are all fighting for first flight honors it appears.

Conditions are considerably harder for these guys. The wind has switched, it's about 10 degrees cooler and they are racing against the clock. Scottie Scheffler and Sepp Straka make par on No. 12 and head to the par-4 13th. Wyndham Clark posts the clubhouse lead at 15 under, four behind Scheffler.

Let's play ball!

Players are on the golf course and play is set to resume. Scottie Scheffler in the final pairing has about 7.5 holes remaining and one hour until sunset meaning this thing is probably going to leak into Monday unfortunately.

The expectation is this thing will be finished today as the range is open and play is set to resume in 40 minutes at 6 p.m. ET. This will leave Scottie Scheffler a couple hours to complete just about seven holes as he left off in the middle of the 12th fairway with a four-stroke lead at 19 under.

Play suspended due to weather

The horn has sounded at 4:28 p.m. ET as a large weather system (with lightning) has engulfed Harbour Town. This comes as Scottie Scheffler stands in the 12th fairway with a four-stroke lead at 19 under over a number of pursuers up ahead of him on the golf course. Players are being brought back into the clubhouse as rules officials make an assessment on when play will return.

Rain comin' down hard

Scheffler turns in 33 with three-stroke lead.

Scheffler lets a chance slide by on the short ninth and will instead settle for a 3-under 33 on his front nine. It was highlighted by his eagle-3 on the par-5 2nd and Scheffler will head to the back side with a three-stroke edge.

Theegala thriving

Theegala cards four 3s in a row to end his front nine and get within four of Scottie Scheffler. Sahith spoke yesterday about how cool it is what Scheffler is currently doing and how it is a motivating factor for someone like him to get better. It's a great perspective and Theegala continues to get better and better, but it may not be enough this week as he is four behind with nine to go.
