50 Cent Announces the Final Lap Tour: 'You've Waited Long Enough'

The tour will kick off on July 21 in Salt Lake City and celebrates the 20th anniversary of Get Rich or Die Tryin'

40 cent tour

Get ready to feel like you're back "In Da Club" because 50 Cent is going on tour!

Earlier this week, the "Candy Shop" rapper, 47, announced that he will embark on a global tour to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

The Final Lap Tour will kick off on July 21 in Salt Lake City and the European leg will kick off on September 28 in Amsterdam. Additional dates will be announced for Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Europe.

"You've waited long enough! THE FINAL LAP TOUR celebrating GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN' – 20 YEARS LATER," he wrote on Instagram Thursday, in part.

The rapper is set to perform his fan-favorite hits along with tracks that haven't been performed live in decades. The tour will also hit that sweet hip-hop nostalgia with featured guests Busta Rhymes and Jeremih.

Fans can register for a verified fan presale now through Sunday. Those who are selected to receive an access code will be able to participate in the presale on May 10. Limited tickets will be sold during a general sale starting May 12 on Ticketmaster.com .

Earlier this year, the "21 Questions" rapper revealed that he is turning the 2002 film 8 Mile — which is a semi-autobiographical take on Eminem 's life — into a TV show during an appearance on the BigBoyTV .

"I'm gonna bring his 8 Mile to television," he revealed, adding that Eminem, 50, is on board to assist with the show's production.

"It's gonna be big. I'm working. I ain't got no duds. I'm batting 100," the rapper said after being asked about the show. "I think it should be there for his legacy because it's important to me that they understand it."

According to the rapper, the project will provide a "backstory" to the film and show Eminem's younger years. He also expressed a desire for the show to share Eminem's story with a new audience.

Meanwhile, the rapper made a surprise appearance during the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance with Dr. Dre , Eminem, Mary J. Blige , Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg .

50 Cent Interview – Get Rich or Die Tryin’ Album 20th Anniversary, The Final Lap Tour, Friendship With Eminem and More

Just in time for hip-hop to turn 50 years old, 50 Cent celebrates yet another major milestone in his storied career and he's doing it in such a way that only a figure as prominent as himself can do.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of one of the most iconic albums of all time, Get Rich or Die Tryin' , 50 is embarking on The Final Lap Tour  beginning on July 21, a massive worldwide jaunt that already has 93 stops booked with more likely on the way. In an exclusive interview with XXL , 50 Cent discusses the specifics of the tour, Get Rich or Die Tryin 's lasting impact, his close personal relationship with Eminem and more through his ever-magnetic personality.

When asked why he chose to title his massive string of commemorative shows The Final Lap Tour , 50 Cent expounds on how at its inception, the powers that be didn't think 50 could even run the tour due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That led to the "If I Can't" rapper taking matters into his own hands by not only financing a bunch of concerts on his own but selling them out. That's when the floodgates opened and the concept of The Final Lap Tour was born.

"I won't be able to commit to a tour as long as this," 50 Cent says in the video below while explaining the tour's significance. "This tour's 93 dates. It'll be one of the biggest hip-hop tours of the year because it won't stop. It'll just go through next year  By the time we done, because of the groundwork that I laid touring, I literally can world tour. The other artists, when they say they going on a world tour, it means they're going on a run, but it's not a world tour. My music is just coming full circle now."

As the interview continues, 50 Cent offers his opinion on the impact Eminem has had in the hip-hop space and the place he holds in rap game history. "[ Eminem 's impact on hip-hop] is unmeasurable," 50 explains. "You can look at artists within the culture and say, 'Well, we don't hear his records in the nightclub.' He didn't make those records with intentions for you to listen to 'em there. And if that was the goal, we would make one right now that would fuck up your life.

He adds: "[ Eminem ] played across top 40 crossover radio and it's a different energy. When that audience captures the art form and becomes attracted to it, they buy other people's art from that art form. That's where the sales is coming from. No Eminem ? No Bentley, no Ferrari, no Lamborghinis."

At one point,  50 Cent also dives into the deep regard he holds for having Eminem as a mentor and a dear friend. Curtis says that no matter what, the Music To Be Murdered By MC allows 50 to maintain a certain sense of humility in the wake of both his and Eminem 's global success. He also explains that to this day, he still seeks Slim Shady 's approval when it comes to creating music.

"What helped me not have a big head at any point, was I had Eminem around" Fif jokingly states. "So when I'm doing 13 million records on my first album, I have the Marshall Mathers LP to look at that's doing 23 million records. Em, I put him next to my grandmother and I'ma tell you why. He was always a place where I could go and just talk to him, and know that he has my best interest at heart."

50 Cent continues: "I would gather whatever I felt like was dope and then I'd come and just press play and I'd watch him. If I didn't get no response out of him, I would really scrap the record. I wouldn't use it if he didn't respond to it and hear the record like it mean something, I'm like 'Nah, I'm not suing that s**t."

In the XXL video below, the legendary 50 Cent explains what his classic album, Get Rich or Die Tryin' , means to him and offers details on his new collab with Nas on the song “Office Hours.” Other moments throughout the exclusive interview include some advice 50 had for Chief Keef at the onset of his career, hilarious jokes aimed at Busta Rhymes , who is Fif's supporting act on The Final Lap Tour , and more.

50 Cent on what fans can expect on his 20th anniversary tour (not upside down crunches)

40 cent tour

NEW YORK – "It was the best body of work at that time."

50 Cent is giving " Get Rich or Die Tryin' " a tour encore.

The Grammy-winning artist , 47, announced a 20th-anniversary tour, The Final Lap, to celebrate his debut studio album Friday. Busta Rhymes is joining him for all 90 days and Jeremih is coming along for the North American stops.

50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) helped define an era of hip-hop with his 2003 album that included hits "In Da Club," "21 Questions," and "Many Men (Wish Death)." Several of the songs referenced the moment he was shot nine times in 2000 as well as various happenings from street life in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York.

The album also popularized hip-hop artists rapping and singing, laying the foundation for Drake , 6LACK , Monaleo, Doechii, Ty Dolla $ign and more.

Two decades later, 50 Cent jokes the anniversary of "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" means "I'm getting old."

What can you expect for 50 Cent's The Final Lap tour with Busta Rhymes and Jeremih?

If you saw the rapper perform the album in the past, don't expect the same from this tour. "It’s going to be a whole new show," he promises.

"Sometimes out of habit, you go to certain records," 50 Cent says. "People love other things on it, so I want to make sure I touch those records before I don’t do those anymore."

One thing you shouldn't expect from the tour is upside-down crunches, a move he did in the music video for "In Da Club" and recreated during a guest appearance at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show headlined by Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar .

"I think that was a mistake for the Super Bowl," he says. "Everybody else walked in regular, the songs still went over and they got the trophy, too. They all won an Emmy. They got the same thing I got and I had to put myself upside down."

50 Cent jokingly adds that someone should have intervened, because if he fell, he would've been made fun of for years to come. It was high risk over reward.

In contrast, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" has proved to be all reward. After all, he did get rich.

Here's more from USA TODAY's interview with 50 Cent:

Question:   Did you know the revolutionary impact you'd have rapping and singing on "Get Rich or Die Tryin'"?

Answer: It's not really a revolution. If you're going to make music that is going to be world music, it has to have melodies. English is not their first speaking language in a lot of places that I travel. What (those crowds) follow is the melody until they understand what you're saying.

Drake is the new, stronger version like that because he can do a whole pop record, sing the whole song. I've never done that. He'll say that I'm one of those influences. ... That’s a big compliment because he's established himself and done great work.

Would you ever collaborate with Drake?

That would be a good one.

How did you learn to perfect your craft?

Luckily enough I was able to run into Jam Master Jay from Run DMC and he took an interest in (my music). He helped develop me as an artist in the very beginning (and) taught me my song structure.

He would make me write the chorus to the song twice or three times before we decided which one and then write the rest of the record. "P.I.M.P." has two (choruses) on the record and that instinctively comes from because of how I learned how to write music.

Who is your dream male collaborator?

Elon Musk .

I mean in music.

I'd do something with Eminem again. We'll do something again at some point.

Who is your dream female collaborator?

Nicki Minaj . She's on fire. She's still right there.

Would you ever retire from making music?

I've retired several times. Because specifically, hip-hop is not something that you "work." In the culture, you work in it and you start to look at everything that happens like new artists to keep in touch with what's going on in music.

You can't see limitations with hip-hop, because look at what artists from hip-hop have done. You look at Will Smith in film, Mark Wahlberg in film, you look at Queen Latifah , L.L. Cool J . They've done phenomenal work and it was harder to do it in the time because they wouldn't let people in, specifically African Americans.

Just went to his concert yesterday in Milan, and it is a must see. The effects, the lights, the backgrounds and the crowd all contribute in making this concert magical. 50 still has an amazing even in his late 40s.

It was billed as the 15 year anniversary of the Get Rich Or Die Trying album so was expecting him to play pretty much every track from it but instead he played 30 seconds of a track and then cut it short. He played more of the Uncle Murda and Tony Yayo songs than those on his own album meant to be for this tour.

He was only on for 55 minutes and the crowd booed at the end. Paid £68 for 55 minutes which is an absolute rip off.

50 Cent's Final Lap Tour Makes History, Becoming Only Third Rap Trek Ever to Cross $100M

Over two decades since 50 Cent strapped on his bullet-proof vest and dropped his iconic Get Rich or Die Tryin' debut, the G-Unit boss is still making history.

According to Billboard Boxscore, 50's The Final Lap Tour has eclipsed $100 million in earnings, making him only the second rapper to ever surpass that mark. The "In Da Club" rapper's 2023 global trek grossed $103.6 million, with 1.05 million tickets sold across 83 shows in North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia.

Prior to 50 joining the exclusive $100 million club, Drake was the only rapper to accomplish the feat, which he did with his last two treks (2023-2024's It's All A Blur Tour and 2018's Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour).

In his decorated touring career to date, 50 Cent has grossed $150.3 million and sold 2.5 million tickets, placing him at No. 8 on the list of highest-grossing rap acts in Billboard Boxscore history. The most lucrative stop on 50's Final Lap trek brought in a combined $4.4 million gross from a pair of dates (Nov. 11 and Nov. 23, 2023) at The O2 Arena in London.

There are a couple of rappers who could possibly be joining 50 and Drizzy in the $100 million club. Kendrick Lamar's Big Steppers Tour grossed $85.4 million, though that sum doesn't account for 16 shows in Europe and Australia that haven't been reported to Boxscore.

Jay-Z has been part of two $100 million-grossing tours, but he's excluded since both (On The Run I and II) were co-headlined by his wife Beyoncé .

Elsewhere, Travis Scott is set to score his $100 million membership card this summer when his Circus Maximus Tour heads to Europe for a slew of sold-out dates. Currently, he's on the doorstep with $95 million accounted for on the North American leg.

50 isn't the only rapper making touring history these days. Nicki Minaj ‘s reunion with the Barbz in "Gag City" on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour has been lucrative, grossing $67 million and selling 439,000 tickets. It's now the highest-grossing and best-selling rap tour by a woman in Boxscore history - and it's not even over yet.

50 Cent’s Final Lap Tour Becomes Fourth-Ever Hip-Hop Tour To Surpass $100M In Ticket Sales

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

50 Cent has been considered a lot of things, but a loser clearly isn’t one.

According to Touring Data, the global star’s Final Lap Tour has now become the fourth-ever to gross over $100,000,000 in ticket sales. He now joins the league of Drake’s “Aubrey & The Three Migos” and “It’s All A Blur” tours, and Kendrick Lamar’s “The Big Steppers” tour .

Per the reports, Fif’s average tour tickets were priced around $88.98 and he sold around 1,179,753. Do the math — he’s grossed approximately $104,974,422 in revenue, if not more.

The International Final Lap tour kicked off in July of last year, hitting every major city you could think of from New York City to Milan, Italy.

With G-Unit’s Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda backing him the entire trek, Fif was able to give a stellar show that included theatrics, special guests, and more. Yayo spoke on the experience with his G-Unit brethren, whom he says paid for everything out of pocket — in an interview with  VladTV   back in February.

“His merch is in the millions. He’s an icon ,” he praised the 48 year old. “You can ask anyone — the people that ran the tour from Live Nation — they’ll tell you, ‘Your favorite rapper can’t do what 50 just did.’ Everybody’s coming there, of course, to work for 50, ’cause 50 cuts the budget. But when you think of everything that’s behind it, from production, road management, catering, dancers, f*ckin’ stewardess on the jet, pilots — everybody’s like one big team and 50 pays for everything.”

50, né Curtis Jackson, recently revisited his Final Lap Tour set while performing at Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman concert on May 11.

The 30 and up crowd rocked to a medley of 50’s classics including “Candy Shop,” “Many Men,” “In Da Club,” and many more. The Queens native delivered the works as he made his entrance on an accelerated stage, and included smoke, pyrotechnics, backup dancers, wardrobe changes, and more.

The TV mogul also surprised fans when he performed the theme song to his show  Power , and was joined onstage by Larenz Tate, Michael Rainey Jr., Mekai Curtis, and Da’Vinchi ( BMF ).

50 Cent Shades Rick Ross to Fans at Canadian Concert: “I Can’t Believe What Y’all Did”

Mail

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson stopped in Canada on Saturday, July 6, where he performed and celebrated his 49th birthday. The now-viral video of his performance surfaced on Monday, July 8, showing the rapper making light of Rick Ross’ recent altercation at Vancouver’s Ignite Festival. We know Fiddy just can’t help himself when it comes to shading his ops.

40 cent tour

“I can’t believe what y’all did to Rick Ross. You f**ked him up,” 50 Cent joked with the audience, pretending to spot the attacker in the crowd. “Who was it, you did it? There he go right there!… Who said Canada was soft? Who said that sh*t?”

50 Cent posted a brief Instagram clip referencing Ross’ situation on Sunday, July 7. The “Power” mogul expressed his appreciation for his Canadian fans, saying, “They f**k with me out here. They beat Rick Ross the f**k up.” The video also featured Uncle Murda, who said, “We’re going to Canada, and we ain’t them other ni**as, you heard.”

40 cent tour

Rick Ross, in damage control mode, recently addressed the attack by Canadian goons in a humorous Instagram Story on Thursday, July 4. The “Biggest Bawse” recounted the incident, denying that he was punched in the face.

“Let me tell you something: When the first dude stepped up to Rozay—the little short fat one that looked like Bam Bam Bigelow from wrestling—when he stepped up… I squat down to his eyes and I said, ‘Boy, if I hit you, you gon see everything you ate for the last few days.’ His balls dropped out of his a**, he never said another word, he never did nothing he was a straight busta. Then the ni**a behind him said, ‘I KNOW MMAyyyyyye.’ And then I got hit with a drink. I’m still convinced ain’t no ni**a punch me.”

ICYMI, the altercation occurred at Vancouver’s Ignite Music Festival on Sunday, June 30, after Ross ended his set by playing Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” As Rozay left the stage, a group of Drake fans confronted him and his team, leading to a brawl. Video footage captured one of the men hitting Ross, prompting his bodyguards and entourage to intervene.

And, of course, 50 Cent seized the moment. And that he did. Sold out show from the looks of it, on his birthday no less. Winning.
