Traveling on a girls trip to Brussels we came upon this tour. Our tour guide, Ithier, was wonderful!! He was knowledgeable, funny and nice. The food and beer were delicious and the chocolate was impeccable! I highly recommended this tour to anyone visiting Brussels. It’s a great was to taste the culture.

The sad part was the food tour was cancelled due to lack of people that signed up for the tour ( I was the only one on the tour). But I was invited to join the Chocolate tour for free. I learned a lot about the history of Brussels and chocolate. this company was very professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them

We loved our food tour with Carla! We had a chance to try many classic Belgian dishes and treats as well as learn about the culture and history of Brussels. Our guide was so helpful in making suggestions for dining and drinking on our own and we learned so much during our tour! Highly recommend!

The title does not disappoint. Come hungry because you will not get samples. You will be served full portions. Our guide got us started with a sit down lunch with the local food selections then mussels and all sorts of beer paired to the meal. He showed us the best waffles and made suggestions for dinner options. We ended the tour with visits two Belgian chocolate tastings gives you a chance to take home some fine selections.

Such a brilliant experience :

Fabulous! The tour guide gave us real insight into Brussels. The food was exceptional and it was wonderful to meet others visiting Brussels. Actually made a couple new friends while eating and chatting. I felt like it was more than just a food tour we learn a lot about Brussels and saw a few different areas as well as the statues

AMAZING!!!!! We met outside a chocolate shop and went right into it. We figured lunch was going to be bite size samples, but it was a full meal and we needed the walk for sure afterwards. We stopped and had some amazing waffles with an amazing beer. Then final stop was the chocolate. OMG so good. I am not a lover of dark chocolate but the sample we had was sooooo good. Our guide was amazing and funny! Great tidbits about the town as we walked. Worth the money for sure!!!

This was definitely a delicious tour though I did find the food excessive for the time allotted. One suggestion would be to have a smaller quantity of each of the foods tapas size for example. The historical part was interesting but very limited and one thing i would suggest is that the tour guide keep phone calls and other business at bay while leading the tour as it was very distracting.

We had a small group of 5 people. Koen was very good with us. As a small group we were able to get a very personal tour. We walked everywhere and learned about things I would not have learned elsewhere. Not just all the history stuff. The chocolate was amazing as were the frites and mussels.

Why is Belgium famous for beer?

Belgium’s fame in beer-making stems from its rich history and culture dating back centuries, where Belgian monks were among the first to brew beer (and they continue to produce highly sought-after beers in their Trappist monasteries).

Belgian brewers have also developed unique beer styles and brewing techniques.

UNESCO recognizes Belgium’s beer culture’s importance , with almost 1,500 types of beer produced in the country, using different fermentation methods, and 304 active breweries, including international companies and traditional breweries.

Belgium boasts around 700 taste profiles and 1,100 beer brands, with one of the world’s most expensive beers, la Vieille Bon Secours, produced by the Caulier brewery.

Why is Belgian beer so good?

Belgian beer’s exceptional taste and unique characteristics come from the use of a range of ingredients such as herbs, fruits, and distinctive yeasts.

The mastery behind the brewing process, which combines centuries of knowledge with modern technology, also contributes to its complex flavor profiles.

Belgian beer is often fermented twice, which adds to its depth of flavor and character.

Belgian beer is also known for its rich culture and traditions, with many cities having a strong café culture where visitors can sample different beers.

In fact, many of Belgium’s towns & cities have their own signature beer.

Nevertheless, in terms of exceptional quality and craftsmanship, Belgian beer stands out with a broad array of highly-regarded styles like Belgian Blond, Dubbel, and Tripel. Although there is no conclusive answer to the world’s finest beer, Belgian beers are globally acclaimed for their unique flavors and rich brewing heritage.

BELGIUM TRAVEL PLANNING RESOURCES

Getting to Belgium : Fly into one of the main international airports : Brussels Airport (BRU) or Charleroi Brussels South Airport (CRL). Take an international train to Brussels South Station. Or take a ferry to Dover or The Netherlands, then drive or take the train to Belgium.

Getting Around : For the major destinations, the train is by far the best option. You can book your train tickets here . If you’d like to visit smaller places, the most convenient way would be to rent a car. We always use Discover cars , they compare all the rental companies and give you the best rates.

Accommodation : Booking.com is the most popular accommodation platform in Belgium. It’s what I use every single time.

Guided tours : Use Get Your Guide or Viator to find fun tours in Brussels, Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp. Or Guruwalk to find free walking tours in multiple destinations.

Meeting point is Grand Place 27, 1000 Brussels, please be there at least 10 minutes in advance to check in the tour. We recommend using Google Maps to localise the meeting point on your smartphone.

We recommend you to provide us with your phone number / email , we value your privacy and they will be secure by us , but it can be sometimes so important as we need to reach you in case of any changes/modifications before the tour.

Printing out vouchers is optional and not necessary, you can always show us your voucher with your smartphone. Note that having a paper or digital version of the voucher is necessary to join the tour and has to be shown to our partners (Chocolate/Beer/restaurant) to have discounts . The guide will tell you where to use them for discounts.

Kids under 16 yrs old are not allowed on the regular tour but you can always contact us to arrange a private tour to accommodate your kids (Unless you have babysitters 😉 ).

The tour includes lot of treats from chocolate to Macaron to Biscuit to Cheese and sausages to the Waffle but we do recommend people to have a light lunch/ brunch/sandwich before the tour just to be able to handle the beers and the Whiskey 😉

Indeed this is a walking tour and the historic old center of the city is mostly cobblestones , there will be a bit of walking involved but it’s not a marathon neither and having comfortable walking shoes on is actually a very healthy option that we would like to recommend.

No worries about that you will be offered non alcoholic /soft drinks or wine to replace the alcoholic drinks/beer, be sure of telling the guide about it on the beginning of the tour.

The Weather in Brussels is unstable and people call it the bi-polar weather it can change quickly several times during the day , it can rain a lot sometimes as well . Please check your weather application and try to have some backup options with you like a small umbrella or an extra jacket , they can always be useful in Brussels.
