Led by pianist and musical director Rafael Ithier, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico is one of Puerto Rico’s greatest dance bands. Decades after its inception, the 13-piece salsa group continues to inspire dancers with its horn-punctuated Latin rhythms and lush vocal harmonies.

This performance will be opened by salsa musician, trombonist, and bandleader  Edgar Joel  alongside vocalist Anthony Colón .

About El Gran Combo

Officially named “Ambassadors of Our Music” by the Puerto Rican Senate, El Gran Combo’s many hits include such classics as “El Menu” and “Timablero.” Their 1978 album,  En Las Vegas , sold more than one million copies, while its follow-up,  In Alaska: Breaking the Ice , was nominated for a Grammy Award. ®

A longtime member of popular Latin band Cortijo y Su Combo, Ithier formed El Gran Combo in 1962 with eight of his bandmates, including percussionist, dancer, chorus singer, and salsa bandleader Roberto Roena. The Puerto Rican release of the group’s debut album,  Acángana , recorded two days before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, was delayed until it had already been released in Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, and the United States. El Gran Combo continued to expand its following in the early ’60s, performing to enthusiastic crowds in New York, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela.

For 60 years, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico has brought people together around the world with their joyful brand of salsa music. And the charming performers of El Gran Combo are still as funny, flirty, and fabulous as ever. Don’t miss this spectacular salsa party in celebration of their milestone anniversary. They’ll be joined by special guests Latin pop heartthrob Luis Figueroa (“Hasta el Sol de Hoy”) and Latin comedian Sara Conteras. It’s going to be a night of irresistible rhythms that will have you on your feet!

A fee of $1.50 has been added to all performance tickets to offset the cost of COVID-19 upgrades and maintenance for performances taking place between July 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.

Tour operadores de China expresan su gran interés por impulsar viajes a México

Comunicado 148/2024.- como parte de la gira operación toca puertas en la república popular china, el secretario de turismo del gobierno de méxico, miguel torruco marqués, acompañado del embajador de méxico en este país asiático, excmo. jesús seade kuri, tuvo diversas reuniones con autoridades, tour operadores y empresarios, quienes le expresaron su gran interés por impulsar los viajes y el turismo hacia méxico, desde este importante mercado emisor..

• El secretario de Turismo, Miguel Torruco Marqués, y el embajador de México en la República Popular China, Excmo. Jesús Seade Kuri, se reunieron con el ministro de Cultura y Turismo de China, Excmo. Sun Yeli, para fortalecer los lazos de cooperación.
• Acompañados también por el secretario de Turismo de Baja California, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, Torruco Marqués, presentó el seminario Así es México, a más de 100 tour operadores chinos, quienes expresaron interés por impulsar viajes a México.
• La comitiva se reunió con directivos de diversas empresas turísticas de esa nación, así como con importantes medios de comunicación, con el propósito de motivar a sus clientes y audiencias a viajar a nuestro país.

Acompañado también por el secretario de Turismo de Baja California, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, el titular de la Secretaría de Turismo, sostuvo una reunión de trabajo con su homólogo, el ministro de Cultura y Turismo de China, Excmo. Sun Yeli, con quien estrechó los lazos de cooperación bilateral en materia turística, mediante el intercambio de experiencias y buenas prácticas que han consolidado a México como potencia mundial en este sector.

Conversaron sobre el fuerte vínculo que existe entre ambas naciones, con culturas milenarias que resultan atractivas para los viajeros; así como la fuerte relación comercial y económica, que a su vez genera actividad turística.

En el marco de la Operación Toca Puertas en la República de China, Torruco Marqués presentó el seminario Así es México, ante más de 100 tour operadores de este país, quienes manifestaron un alto interés por los diversos atractivos y nuevos desarrollos que ofrece nuestra nación a los turistas chinos.

Señaló que actualmente se vive un momento importante en el que el turismo está estrechamente ligado a los cambios políticos, económicos y sociales que se producen a nivel internacional, donde se debe partir de la premisa de que todos los países se den cuenta de que el mundo es totalmente interdependiente, que las fronteras que conocemos tendrán en el futuro un contenido más cultural e idiosincrásico, que geográfico y económico.

“Puedo asegurar que, en las próximas dos décadas, la humanidad dispondrá de más tiempo libre, más ingresos, mejores y más cómodos medios de transporte, y serán las naciones que mejor preserven su medio ambiente y mantengan su identidad histórica, cultural y gastronómica, los países que participarán plenamente en la extraordinaria contribución económica del turismo en el futuro” mencionó.

En el marco de esta presentación, el secretario de Turismo resaltó que México es una mezcla de colores y sabores que cuenta con todo tipo de atractivos: sol, montañas, selva y desiertos.

Además, México ocupa el quinto lugar como país mega diverso, con el 12% de la biodiversidad planetaria; y alberga 35 sitios Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco, que lo ubican en el primer sitio de América Latina y en el séptimo a escala mundial.

Precisó que México cuenta con 177 Pueblos Mágicos, que son símbolo de identidad nacional por sus tradiciones, leyendas, historias, cultura, naturaleza y gastronomía; así como 32 Barrios Mágicos, espacios emblemáticos donde se puede descubrir el “espíritu” de una entidad o una ciudad. Además, son punto de encuentro con la comunidad local.

El titular de Sectur expuso los nuevos productos turísticos que contribuirán a incrementar el flujo turístico entre nuestros dos países, como el Tren Maya, que conecta los cinco estados del sureste de México; Islas Marías, en lo que antiguamente fue una prisión y que ahora es una plaza turística sustentable con 8 experiencias turísticas, un museo de sitio y un espacio para la venta de artesanías.

También, subrayó la ampliación, remodelación y construcción de aeropuertos como el AIFA, el de Tulum y el de Creel, en Barrancas del Cobre, Chihuahua, las cuales son cuatro veces más grandes y dos veces más profundas que el Gran Cañón del Colorado; además de las nuevas autopistas, todo ello contribuye a diversificar la actividad turística cumpliendo la instrucción del presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador, de hacer del turismo una herramienta de reconciliación social.

Subrayó que se debe seguir trabajando juntos para que la relación entre China y México se fortalezca año con año.

Durante la Operación Toca Puertas en China, Torruco Marqués tuvo una serie de reuniones, una de ellas con integrantes de la Federación Mundial de Ciudades Turísticas (WTCF), organismo formado voluntariamente por ciudades turísticas famosas e instituciones relacionadas con el turismo en todo el mundo; tres de ellas en México.

Con Dragon Trail International, compañía líder en soluciones de marketing digital especializada en el mercado emisor chino con una amplia experiencia en el sector de viajes internacional; se destacó la importancia de la tecnología para el mejor desarrollo de la actividad turística.

También se reunió con Edison Chen, vicepresidente de trip.com; y con Alifante Group, proveedor de servicios turísticos especialista a México, Cuba, Panamá, Costa Rica y otros países de Centroamérica para turistas de habla china.

Torruco Marqués reiteró que, con relación a China, en 2023 la llegada de turistas chinos a México fue de 161 mil, un 84% más que el año anterior. Ello generó una derrama económica de 182 millones de dólares, 88% más que en 2022.

Resaltó la importancia de que, en 2023 no se contaron con vuelos entre México y China, sin embargo, este año regresan dos de las tres rutas que se tenían antes de la pandemia: el vuelo de Shenzhen a Ciudad de México con China Southern Airlines, y este 12 de julio, se inaugurará el regreso del vuelo de Hainan Airlines de Beijing a Ciudad de México, ambos con escala en la ciudad de Tijuana.

Durante la gira Operación Toca Puertas, el titular de Sectur se reunió con importantes medios de comunicación de China como el Diario del Pueblo; CGTN; Global Times; EFE; China Radio International; CCTV; y Xinhua, a quienes les habló sobre los diferentes productos turísticos que ofrece nuestro país, con el propósito de que motiven a sus audiencias a visitar México.

En la comitiva de la Operación Toca Puertas en la República de China participan también Emmanuel Rey, director general de Promoción y Asuntos Internacionales; y los empresarios Lucio Pablo Gutiérrez Cortina y Lucio Gutiérrez Fernández; entre otras autoridades y empresarios del sector.

Grand Skate Tour, a renowned skateboarding event, takes place in Gorky Park

More than 150 people from 40 countries will take part in the forum and competitions from 26 August to 2 September

Grand Skate Tour (GST), a renowned skateboarding event series, is thrilled to unveil the highly anticipated 2023 event, set to take place at Moscow's iconic Gorky Park from 26 August to 2 September 2023. The event is organised by the Russian Skateboarding Federation with grant support from the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States (IFHC). TV BRICS International Media Network is the general media partner of the event.

The Forum will be attended by representatives of the Azerbaijan and Kyrgyz Republics, the Russian Federation, the Republics of Tajikistan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus and far abroad - Brazil, Israel, India, Yemen, Colombia, Cuba, Lebanon, Uganda, Madagascar, South Africa and others - a total of more than 150 people from 40 countries aged 14 to 35 years old. The central theme of the event is the development and strengthening of international youth cooperation in the field of new Olympic sports and youth subcultures.

The educational programme of the Forum includes lectures by leaders of international social projects, who will analyse the activities of sports NGOs in different countries: this year representatives of India, Oman, Serbia, South Africa and other countries will share their experience; meetings with skateboarders - participants of the Olympic Games in Tokyo and representatives of the skate industry are planned. A new direction in the Forum's work this year is women's skateboarding, in the framework of which representatives of different countries will present their social skate initiatives.

Heads of international and Russian public organisations will talk about fundraising in social projects, talk about communication with youth audience, skateboarding and its connection with the development of cities, the process of creating and promoting their own skate brand, the features of action photography and video shooting. All the days of the tour the exposition "Skate Museum of the USSR" (Minsk) will be open on the central arch of Gorky Park for everyone to visit. A separate area of the tour's work will touch upon the issues of organising international mass events and building sports infrastructure for new Olympic sports.

One of the blocks of the programme is traditionally devoted to work with children and teenagers who are fond of skateboarding. In addition to the theoretical part, throughout the week in the stationary skate zone of Gorky Park there will be practical lessons for kids and master classes for teaching staff from the All-Russian project "Social Skate School".

The programme of the event also includes various competitive activities in skateboarding, scooter and roller skates.

“The Grand Skate Tour has once again proven its worth and demand among skateboarders all over the world. This year's event takes place in the iconic Gorky Park in Moscow - it's hard to think of a more iconic location for young people. More than 150 participants from 40 countries will have an opportunity not only to compete in a unique world-class skate park, but also to exchange experience, learn about industry trends, regional initiatives from different countries, prospects and problems of skateboarding in the Olympic movement. There is no other event in the world right now for our audience with such a rich cultural and educational programme for skateboarding activists from developing and developed countries,” commented Ilya Vdovin , President of the Russian Skateboarding Federation, on the eve of the event.

The MIC Direction Committee has been in contact with the governmental authorities, being constantly updated on the growing problems affecting public health by the spread of coronavirus (COVID–19). The current situation has led to the Catalonia General Secretary of Sports to communicate to us the imperative of cancelling the MIC edition this Easter.

MICBasketball has chosen 32 referees from 13 different countries to oversee the games of the tournament’s fourth edition in the Costa Brava. The list of nominees ensures experience, as 12 have took part in the previous editions.
