Kasol Itinerary for First Time Travellers

kasol tour itinerary

traveller Swapnil

Kasol itinerary will be very helpful if you are visiting Kasol for the very first time. It can be a little confusing as to what places should one cover during the visit as there is no dearth of picturesque places in and around Kasol, I am hoping that my detailed Kasol itinerary will help you plan your travel without any hassle.

Not long ago Kasol was just another quaint little hamlet tucked away deep in Himachal Pradesh that no one knew about. Recently it burst onto the tourist map due to two main reasons, one being easy availability of high-quality hashish ( Possession and consumption of Hashish are illegal in India,  you can be even arrested if you happen to have it ), and second due to beautiful hiking and trekking trails all around Kasol.

In my opinion, Kasol offers much more than the stereotypical clichés given to it by people. For instance, if you are a foodie then Kasol is the best place to be at. There are a ton of different cafés that offer lip-smacking multi-cuisine delicacies to soothe your taste buds.

If you are an avid trekker then there are a lot of hiking routes and trails that will excite you. The vibe of this place is such that one would to just relax and admire the serene landscapes while witnessing the river Parvati in its full flow.

Kasol Itinerary: Things to know before you go

Kasol, a scenic hamlet located in Parvati Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh is the hippie capital of India. Kasol was already on the hippie trail for quite a long time but only a handful of people knew about it. Off late more and more people have started visiting this place, making it a favourite among backpackers

There are many things you can do in and around Kasol. A pre-defined Kasol itinerary can help you explore Kasol in a more efficient manner.  In the current blog, I will be providing you with a detailed Kasol itinerary. However, before I proceed, there are certain things you should know Kasol:

Kasol Itinerary: Best Way to spend 2, 4 or 6 Days in Kasol

From relishing hummus to going on a trek, there are many exciting things to do in Kasol .  So, depending on the number of days you have, this Kasol itinerary will surely help you plan accordingly. I would suggest spending around 4 -7 days in an around Kasol, but many do not have that luxury.

I started my Kasol trip from Mumbai by taking a direct flight to Delhi. I backpacked across Parvati Valley for 10 days and stayed in Kasol for around 4-days during winters.

As most of the people who travel to Himachal Pradesh either start from Delhi or Chandigarh, here are 3 different Delhi to Kasol trip itineraries depending on the number of days.

chalal bridge kasol

Surreal landscapes as seen from Chalal bridge which is just 5 mins away from the main Kasol market. Chalal is one of the must-visit treks around Kasol

Kasol itinerary for 2 days: Perfect for a Weekend Trip to Kasol

This 2-night Kasol itinerary can be a perfect weekend trip if you are looking to escape your mundane routine for a couple of days. I am assuming that the trip starts from Delhi.

You start by boarding an overnight bus from ISBT Kashmere Gate, Delhi. You can take an HRTC Volvo bus and even book the tickets in advance online . These are a quite comfortable and convenient option. Board any bus that goes to Manali.

Kasol Itinerary 4 days: The plan I would recommend

I feel that a minimum 4-days are needed to experience the sheer beauty of this place. This 4 days Kasol Itinerary also involves a bit of trekking to one most famous and beginner-friendly treks in Himachal that is Kheerganga.

Your trip starts by taking an overnight bus from Delhi to Bhuntar.

7 Places that need to be added to your Kasol Itinerary

Here is a brief overview of some of the places covered under my Kasol itinerary:

  • Malana – Malana is a remote village located in Parvati Valley. Dubbed as the oldest democracy in the world, people in Malana expect visitors to abide by some rather strange rules. You can read all about these rules in this blog .
  • Manikaran- Manikaran is a Sikh and Hindu pilgrimage centre that attracts many visitors. Take a dip in the hot water springs here and visit the temples and the Gurudwara.
  • Tosh-  Tosh is the last motorable village in Parvati Valley. Surrounded by lush green mountains with pine, deodar, oak trees, it offers a magnificent view of these mountains. You can read my complete backpacking guide to Tosh in this blog .
  • Chalal – Chalal is just 30 mins hike from Kasol It is one of the shortest and easiest hiking trails around Kasol.
  • Rasol – Rasol is another unexplored village in Parvati Valley. You can easily trek from Kasol to Rasol village in about 2-3 hours.
  • Kheerganga – Kheerganga is one of the most sought after treks in Kasol. This trek takes about 2 days to finish and can be completed even by beginners.
  • Kalga- is another lesser-known village of Parvati Valley. You can find a few accommodations here.

How much will your Kasol Trip Cost?

One of the main reasons why people head to Kasol and nearby places is because it is light on the pocket as there are is no scarcity of decent budget options for accommodation except for a few months when it is peak season. The internal transport in and around Kasol is also very cheap.

Accommodation is fairly inexpensive in and around Kasol (except peak season prices are high to due high tourist influx). A budget stay will cost around 500-800 INR per day depending on what you choose .

  • If you choose Backpackers hostel that it can come down to around 300-350 INR per dorm bed.
  • Guesthouses and will cost anywhere between 500-800 INR.

If you have someone to share a room with, then guesthouses and hotels can be a decent option as well. You can opt for Luxury hotels, guesthouses in Kasol but your cost will go up. Kasol also has a lot of campsites around the bank of the river Parvati. But they tend to be a little bit expensive than Hostels, Guesthouse, and hotels.

The only thing that is a little bit expensive is the food. If you are going to visit the famous cafés in Kasol then it will cost you a bit but trust me it is worth it since the food is just amazing here.

Food is going to a bit expensive here, So I would say it will be around 500-700 INR per day depending on how many cafes you visit. Though it is a little bit on the expensive side, trust me, you will love all the Multi-cuisine delicacies that Cafés in Kasol offer.

green house cottage kasol

Green house cottage is located at one of the best locations at Kasol. It is surrounded by forest and Parvati river is a 5-minute distance away from the cottage. I absolutely loved the stay here.

Where to Stay In Kasol on a budget?

The accommodation shouldn’t be a problem as there are plenty of budget hostels, hotel, and guest houses. As soon as you enter Kasol, you will spot clusters of Budget hotels and guesthouses the rooms there are not fancy but are decent enough.

They can be priced anywhere between 500 – 800 INR . The prices can be exorbitantly high during the peak season even for even basic rooms. I stayed in a couple of hotels in that area that were decent and were priced at INR 500, but it was in February which can be considered as off-season and it did feel like off-season as the foreign travellers were almost absent.

For all you backpackers and solo travellers, backpacker hostels will come to your rescue as there a couple of popular hostel chains in Kasol. Some of the best hostels here are:

If you are for some decent luxury rooms then there you have to go to the far end of Kasol. Hotel Sandhya is one of the luxury hotels in Kasol . Greenhouse cottages near Hotel Sandhya have very spacious and amazing rooms. The Forest area and Parvati riverbank are also near. I got an amazing deal for Greenhouse cottages priced at INR 1000 . But this was winter, prices will be surely on the higher side during peak season.

How to reach Kasol?

There is no direct bus for Kasol from either Delhi or Chandigarh. Therefore, for a first time visitor, reaching Kasol can be a  bit confusing.

Reaching Kasol by road

Kasol can be only reached by road. For those making a solo trip to Kasol or are on a tight budget, Volvo buses will be your best bet. First, you need to board buses going towards Manali. There are a lot of Ordinary and Volvo buses of both private operators and HRTC plying on Delhi – Manali route from ISBT Kashmere gate.

Then you need to get down at Bhuntar since this is where the road to Kasol in Parvati valley diverts. From Bhuntar you need to take to local buses or shared cabs going towards Kasol.

There are a couple of HRTC buses from Delhi in the evening that directly go towards Manikaran. I n case you don’t want to do a break journey and save time then is the perfect option (Kasol comes before Manikaran). Of course, there are only two buses so it might not be convenient for everybody.

If have self-driven cars or private vehicles, then just make sure you take the diversion at Bhuntar. On average Delhi to Kasol, bus journey would take around 13-15 hours.

Reaching Kasol by Air

The nearest airport is in Bhuntar, but the frequency of flights to Bhuntar is very less. So the fares are on the higher side. From Bhuntar, you can take shared cabs or local buses going towards Kasol. It might not be a budget-friendly option, but if you short on days and budget is not a constraint then this option should be considered.

jim morrisons cafe kasol

Jim Morrisons café is one of the best cafe in Kasol. I absolutely loved the vibe of this café and they serve awesome food here. It is must visit when you are in Kasol.

Where and what to eat in Kasol?

Though cafes predominantly serve Italian and Israeli food, most of them offer multi-cuisine including Indian food in some cafés. Israeli food like hummus, falafel platter, etc. will be readily available and is a must-try when you are in Kasol .

Italian food served in most of the cafes is extremely delectable. Apart from Italian and Israeli food, traditional Indian food is also readily available in and around Kasol.

Kasol is also famous for its mouth-watering desserts like cakes, pie, croissants, etc . There are quite a few bakeries here which serve these kinds of deserts. Germany bakery being the most popular one out there with its apple pie and cheesecakes being a must-try. Unfortunately, when I visited Kasol German bakery was not operational since it was off-season and would open again only after April.

There are a ton of different Cafes in Kasol and you probably require 2 days to cover all of them. I visited quite a few of them and the food was extremely delicious. Bhoj Café, Evergreen Café, Freedom Café, Moondance Café, Jim Morrisons Café, Little Italy, Panj Tara Café are among the popular ones in Kasol.

In my opinion, Evergreen Café, Jim Morrisons Café and Little Italy are a must-visit as they serve lip-smacking food. Personally, my favourite is Jim Morrisons café as the café inspired by Jim Morrison the lead singer of the classic rock band “The Doors”, classic rock numbers are played during the day. The café has a very chill vibe to it and is heaven for vegetarians as the café serves only vegetarian food. To reach this café you would have to hike uphill for 10 minutes from Hotel Sandhya.

Unlike Manali, there are not many cafes that offer live music in Kasol. Panj Tara café is the only one that I know which offers live music.

What’s the best time to visit Kasol?

This is very subjective as this would depend on what kind of colours and landscapes one wants to see. But one thing is for sure the weather remains very comfortable throughout the year except for cold winters which start from late November to early March.

If you time your visit to Kasol during off-season months like January, February, March in winter, or in September, October, November during Autumn, then you would enjoy it a lot more as there would be no crazy tourist rush when compared to Summer months or the period of Christmas and new year. There would be no problems whatsoever for Backpackers and Budget travellers as the accommodation prices would not be exorbitantly high.

kasol itinerary

A total whiteout near Malana gate. If you want to experience snowfall, then heading to Malana can be wonderful to experience it as it is just 2 hours from Kasol. Though it snows in Kasol, if you visit in February or March then the chances of experiencing snowfall are very less in Kasol.

  Is Kasol safe to visit?

Kasol is very safe irrespective of gender. In fact, all of the Himachal is very safe and you will find lots of solo travellers backpacking around Kasol and Parvati valley. As you might already know Kasol is infamous for people looking for high-quality hashish called ‘Malana Cream’ , so please make sure you don’t engage in such illicit activities as possession of Hashish is illegal and you can even be arrested.

Apart from this, locals are very amiable and approachable, and they will help you out in any situation, so don’t hesitate and approach them if you need help. While hiking and trekking around this pristine valley avoid taking shortcuts unless accompanied by a professional guide.

Kasol – A COMPLETE Travel Guide and Itinerary

kasol

When it comes to Himachal Pradesh, there is no paucity of picturesque places. It is home to some of the most popular tourist destinations in our country. Kasol is one of them. When you talk about a trip to Himachal, Kasol is one place that always pops in everybody’s list.

Kasol, a small tourist resort tucked away at a mild altitude of 1500 meters in Kullu district, is one of the most prominent places of Himachal. The natural beauty of Kasol is second to none. Earlier, Kasol and Parvati valley used to be one of the more unexplored places in Himachal. But over the years, as the people discovered its tourism potential, the tourism-related businesses increased exponentially.

One of the primary reasons why Kasol is so famous, or rather I would call infamous, is due to the easy availability of hash. But of course, Kasol has much more to offer. It is a haven for trekking enthusiasts and acts as a base for a lot of several high-altitude treks. Kasol emanates a hippie vibe as there are plenty of solo travelers, backpackers, slow travelers exploring Kasol, and areas around Parvati valley in general.

Quick Navigation

About Kasol

Kasol is a small town (or village) located in the Parvati valley of Himachal Pradesh . It is located at a distance of 30 km from Bhuntar 76 km from Manali and about 270 kilometers from Chandigarh.

Kasol is often termed as ‘Mini Israel of India’. The culture of the town is a mix of Israeli, hippie, Himachali, and Indian overall. The food you get here is a mix as well and deliciously amazing. It also provides access to some of the other popular destinations of Himachal like Malana, Manikaran, Tosh, Chalal, and Kheerganga. It also acts as a base for the famous Pin Parvati pass trek .

The weather of Kasol remains pleasant for most of the year. Put all of these together and you have a small town that is immensely popular and favored by all kinds of tourists. From a backpacker looking to get high to an adventure enthusiast to a family out on vacation, Kasol has them all.

How to reach Kasol

Reaching Kasol is not difficult at all. The connectivity from North Indian cities is fairly decent. Even though there is an airport fairly close to Kasol, people seldom travel by Air due to limited flights and expensive airfare. There is no Major railway station in Himachal that is close to Kasol. The nearest railway station is in Chandigarh.

I will first talk about how you can get to Kasol by road. For this part, in order to explain the route, I will assume Delhi as the starting point.

How to reach Kasol from Delhi by Road

Starting from Delhi, the route of the journey will be like below.

Delhi – Karnal – Ambala – Chandigarh – Bilaspur – Sundernagar – Mandi – Aut – Bhuntar – Kasol

This entire journey will be of about 520 kilometers and will take you anywhere between 12 – 14 hours. From Delhi, you will follow NH1 until Chandigarh and then take the road towards Kiratpur Sahib via Rupnagar.

The hilly region will start after Kiratpur Sahib and you will gradually start to gain altitude. The journey until Mandi will be a troublesome one because of the heavy truck traffic on this route.

After Mandi, it will turn into a pleasant drive. You will cross Mandi, Sundar Nagar, and Aut Tunnel on the way and arrive at Bhuntar. From Bhuntar, leave the Manali highway and take the road towards Kasol which is about 30 kilometers from here.

Getting to Kasol by private vehicles or self-driven cars is easy. You can easily navigate using Google maps; just don’t forget to take the diversion to Kasol from Bhuntar.

Most of the people traveling to Kasol generally start from Delhi or Chandigarh. There are a lot of HRTC, HPTDC , and private Volvos going towards Manali from Delhi and Chandigarh, overnight as well as throughout the day. Not just Delhi and Chandigarh but Manali has a large number of buses traveling to it from every city nearby. It is one of the most visited hill stations of our country and tourist inflow here never stops.

Just pick any of these buses and hop on. In my opinion, an overnight bus is the best deal. But do not go all the way to Manali. You must get down at Bhuntar.

From Bhuntar, the road to Parvati valley bifurcates. Once you are Bhuntar Bus stand, you can board any bus going towards Manikaran and get down at Kasol. The first bus is at 7 AM and then on an hourly basis after that. The fare per person for Kasol is Rs. 30.

Local buses are cheap and available throughout the day at regular intervals. There are a couple of HRTC buses from Kashmere gate which go all the way up to Manikaran (Kasol comes before Manikaran). You can ask around at the ticket counter and if there was one available, board it.

How to reach Kasol by Train

The nearest railway station to Kasol is in Joginder Nagar, at a distance of 125 kilometers. This one however is a narrow-gauge track and connected with Pathankot with a Toy train (like Shimla Kalka toy train ). The next nearest major railhead is in Chandigarh which is also a better option. Finding a train to Chandigarh will be much easier and simpler as it is well-connected with all the major cities of India by rail.

How to reach Kasol by Flight

The nearest airport to Kasol is in Bhuntar, also known as Kullu Manali Airport. The problem however is that flights to this airport are very limited and often canceled. It will also cost you more. Hence, a better option is to book a flight to Chandigarh and travel to Kasol from there.

But yes, flying to this airport is an option nonetheless. If you were short on time and a flight was available, you can reach Bhuntar airport and go to Kasol from there. You can get a taxi from right outside the airport.

Where to stay in Kasol

There is no dearth of accommodation in Kasol. You get a variety of options like hotels, hostels, guesthouses, and homestays. According to your budget and needs, you can choose a place to stay.

Budget Hotels in Kasol

If we talk about budget places, then as soon as you enter Kasol there are a lot of hotels where you can get a room for Rs. 500. Of course, for most time of the year except for peak tourist season, which is the summer season and the new year period. But generally, you should have no problem finding a place in Kasol at around 500-800. I went to Kasol in the winters and got a decent room for Rs. 500 at Green valley view.

Bit Expensive Hotels in Kasol

The area towards the end of Kasol has a lot of decent hotels and guesthouses. Of course, these are not your typical budget accommodation. There is hotel Sandhya which is a proper 3-star hotel with high room Tariff. Then there are Greenhouse cottages just near Sandhya. It is probably one of the best places to stay in Kasol.

The area here is not as crowded as other parts of Kasol. The riverbank is just a couple of minutes away from here. You can also enter forests in just a couple of minutes. I had a good time while staying at greenhouse cottages.

It was priced at ₹1000 but again due to off-season (late winter), it was quite cheap. But if you have a good budget, then you should stay in the area near the hotel Sandhya. It is quite peacefully around this part of Kasol.

Hostels in Kasol

Cheap hostel dorm beds are one of the reasons why Kasol is preferred by Solo travelers, budget travelers, backpackers. The only major hostel chain is the hosteller in Kasol. But there are other hostels like the nomad’s hostel in Choj, but it is a bit away from Kasol. But definitely, you would find a decent dorm bed at ₹300-500 at such hostels. These hostels have private rooms as well.

snow capped mountains in parvati valley

Best time to visit Kasol

Kasol, like most parts of Himachal, experiences 5 distinct seasons namely Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, Winter, Spring. Of course, each season has its own charm. I personally would recommend visiting Kasol in each season.

Though the best time would be definitely from April to June in late spring and summer and then from September to November in Autumn. Monsoon should be avoided as it rains quite heavily and there are frequent landslides in the area. Trekking during monsoon also becomes a bit perilous.

If you can bear the cold, then there is no better time to Kasol, then winters. Kasol receives good snowfall starting from December end to early February. Snow in Kasol usually makes everything even more picturesque.

What to see in Kasol

Kasol is in itself a tourist attraction of Parvati Valley. In fact, it is probably the very heart and the biggest attraction in the valley. There is not much to see in Kasol as such because it is just a small village.  The natural beauty and the serenity of the place are what attract tourists here all year long.

Other than that, the restaurants of Kasol are also something to look forward to. Because of the overall hippie and Israeli-influenced culture, the food that you get here is truly amazing. You can get some of the best Italian, Israeli, and Tibetan food in Kasol that you ever tasted.

There local market of Kasol is also an attraction in itself. You can buy some small trinkets, handicrafts, accessories, trendy clothes, woolens, fake jewelry, stones, and caps. The Israeli and Hippie touch of the village also reflects on the clothes and items that you will find here.

It is the town of Manikaran that is famous for its hot water springs. But did you know that there is one in Kasol as well, near Chalal Bridge? That is right. If you were short on time and wanted to take a dip in the naturally hot waters, you do not have to go all the way to Manikaran for it. You can do it right there in Kasol.

Last but not least, Kasol is on the banks of River Parvati. There are several places where you can get down and sit by the river. I know it may sound like a cliché but it in fact something that you will greatly enjoy.

Places to visit around Kasol

The short list of places I provided above includes the ones that you can see in Kasol itself. But it does not end here. Parvati Valley offers much more that will make it worth your while and money.

Using Kasol as a base, there are several other places nearby that you can explore.  If you had about a week in hand, you will have a busy schedule hopping from one place to another.

I have covered this topic in another article, Places to visit in and around Kasol and Things to do. Adding information here on all of them would just have rendered this one article endless so I decided to move to a different post. But for a brief overview, below is a list of places that you can visit near Kasol. If you want to get more details, please click on the link above.

tosh

Malana Village

Malana is an ancient village perched at around 2400 m deep inside Parvati valley. The village is best known for its unique customs, its history, and traditions. But most of all, it is the hashish that is grown here that puts Malana on the world map. To know more details on the village and how to get here, please take a look at Malana Village Travel Guide .

A trip to Kasol or Parvati valley is incomplete without experiencing the picturesque Tosh. Surrounded by beautiful pin forests and huge mountains, the area around Tosh is straight out of a fairytale.

Kasol and is considered a hippie paradise, and Tosh is no different. Tosh is as hippie as it gets. To know more, please take a look at How to Plan a Trip to Tosh Village .

Manikaran is a picturesque holy town just 4 km ahead of Kasol. It is famous for its Gurudwara and ancient Hindu temples. Taking a dip Hot Sulphur springs is one of the most popular things to do in Manikaran. There is a daily bus available between Kasol and Malana that you can board to visit here. If you wish to, you can even spend a night in Manikaran to explore the place.

Nothing can get as mainstream as Kheerganga when it comes to places around Kasol. It is probably the most famous beginner trek in Himachal apart from Triund in Mcleodganj. It is a very scenic trail that offers greats views and can be attempted even by absolute beginners. To know more, please take a look at How to Plan a Trip to Kheerganga .

kheerganga

Chalal is located right next to Kasol and you can even walk between both the villages in less 15 minutes. It is more peaceful and I think an even more scenic version of Kasol.

These were probably the most famous places around Kasol but there are several others that are equally scenic. Mentioned below is a list.

  • Mateura Jari
  • Kalga and Pulga
  • Waichin Valley
  • Nakhtan Village
  • Rudra Nag Temple
  • Thakur Kuan Village
  • Pandupul Village

To read about these places in further detail, please take a look at Places to visit around Kasol and Things to Do .

Things to do in Kasol

Other than visiting the above-mentioned places, listed below are some other activities that you can enjoy in Kasol.

  • Take a stroll in the woods
  • Sit by the Parvati River
  • Hike to the nearby villages like Chalal, Choj, Katagla.
  • Satiate your taste buds with delectable cuisines at the restaurants
  • Take a dip at hot water springs near Chalal Bridge
  • Photography
  • Observe and experience an entirely different kind of culture
  • Talk to the locals and learn about their lives

Trekking and Hiking around Kasol

One of the best things to do when in Kasol is to trek. Kasol is perfect for avid trekkers and adventure connoisseurs. The landscapes that you get to witness in the upper reaches of Parvati while being on such treks are just otherworldly. Hikes around Kasol caters to everyone, be it a novice hike or an adept trekker.

For beginners, Kheerganga near Barshaini is the perfect one. Intermediates can try out Sar pass trek, Waichin valley, Dev Ropa, Bun Buni pass. Experts can venture on the famous Pin Parvati pass, Mantalai lake, or less explored but not uncommon treks like Sara Umga La, Animal pass trek near Tosh.

Almost all these treks are not navigable during winters. So, the best time to embark on these treks would be towards the end of May and the whole of June and then after monsoon during September and early part of October. All these treks are covered in this blog. So, don’t forget to check it out.

kasol

Weather of Kasol

Owing to its high altitude, the weather of Kasol mostly remains cold throughout the year. Summers here are short and pleasant whereas winters can get freezing. Except for the months of May and June, the temperature rarely goes beyond 25°C.

Kasol in summers

May and June are peak summer months in Kasol. Everything is quite accessible in Parvati Valley during summers. The valley is lush green during summers and the weather is pleasant. The average day temperature is around 25 degrees while the night temperature is around 14 degrees.

The landscape appears very vibrant. All in all, it is the perfect time to visit Kasol. All major treks start to open up one by one as the snow melts in the upper reaches. So, hiking activities commence in full flow during summers.

The only downside I feel would be the crowd. People flock from plains to escape the brutal heat. Thus, Kasol becomes severely packed with tourists. Due to the heavy tourist influx, accommodation expense goes up considerably.

Kasol in monsoon

Monsoon starts from early July and lasts till early September. During this period, Kasol receives quite heavy rainfall. But the valley is greener than ever. With the whole town shrouded in mist and fog during monsoon, it has a different charm altogether. The average maximum temperature is 28 degrees, and the minimum temperature is 18 degrees.

A lot of beautiful scenery will be lost as the weather is overcast for most of the monsoon. This is one of the reasons why most people avoid going to Parvati valley during monsoons. But for people traveling slow, monsoon would be a perfect time as the Kasol is less crowded and even less expensive.

The only downside I feel during monsoons is trekking. Hiking and trekking can be a bit difficult as the trail becomes quite slippery. Plus, the perennial perils of landslides, flash floods have wreaked havoc in the Himalayas in recent memory. So, one should practice caution while venturing into Kasol at least during August, the peak of monsoon.

Kasol in Autumn

Monsoon starts to withdraw from Himachal starting Mid-September. Rains gradually decrease making way for clear days. It might rain a bit in September. But October and November have the least precipitation. September to early October can be a perfect window for some of the high-altitude treks.

While in September, the vistas are still green. Starting October, they turn golden brown. The weather in September is quite pleasant. The temperature gradually plummets starting October making mornings and evenings colder.

In my opinion, Autumn is one of the best times to visit the valley. The weather is clear. The chances of precipitation are minimum resulting in incredible landscapes all around. This makes hiking quite enjoyable. The crowd is less compared to summers making a budget trip possible.

Kasol in Winters

Kasol experiences winter from early December to early March. It gets really cold during winters as the valley experiences sub-zero temperatures. It snows from late December till early February but it only increases the beauty of every landscape exponentially.

If you can bear the cold, then Kasol is amongst the best places to experience winters. Of course, the valley is all golden brown if it has not snowed for days, but in Kasol, it still seems vibrant with all the snow-capped mountains and forests around.

The only downside of peak winters is trekking. All the high-altitude treks are closed. The hikes to villages like Malana, Rashol, Grahan is still possible. The trail to Kheerganga is also buried in deep snow. But with proper caution and winter gear, these treks are possible. Also, note that a couple of the popular cafes might be closed as there is hardly any crowd during peak winters.

The average daytime temperature would be 10 degrees, while the average minimum temperature would be 2 degrees. Of course, it will even go below zero at night, once the weather clears out after snow or rain. After Early February, snowfall is unlikely. Instead, it will rain whenever the western disturbance approaches the Indian Himalayas.

Kasol in Spring

Months of March and April are considered as spring in Parvati Valley and it one of the best times to visit. The temperatures start increasing as precipitation starts decreasing. The mountains are still heavily covered in snow, which makes the scenery quite impeccable. The trees and plants slowly start crawling back to life as the Spring approaches. The landscapes are very pretty in Spring.

Another advantage is the tourist rush is still low. Therefore, you can enjoy a lot without spending too much on the accommodation. As far trekking is concerned most of the treks in the higher reaches are still closed due to a lot of snow.

But a few might start to open up towards the end of April. As the transition happens from winter to spring commences, the frequency of western disturbances also decreases. Therefore, late spring (April) can be one of the best times to visit Kasol.

The average temperature maximum temperature during spring is 18 degrees, while the minimum is 8 degrees. Of course, it will be much lower in case of any western disturbance approaching the region. It may even rain during such storms.

There are a lot of camping spots in and around Kasol. But in my opinion, Chalal near Kasol is one of the coolest camping spots in the entire valley. A lot of operators run campsites near the riverbank in Kasol, Chalal, Choj. So, you can opt for one if you don’t want to go through the hassle of setting up tents.

Of course, there are camps at places like Rashol and Grahan, but those are a bit far away from Kasol and you must trek to reach there. During my visit, I had also seen tented accommodation at the new forest rest house in Kasol. There were also campsites set up near Hotel Sandhya and Greenhouse cottages.

Mobile Network in Kasol

MTNL / BSNL has the widest coverage in Himachal but almost all the network operators have excellent coverage in Kasol. You will get full 4g internet with good speed. This will ensure that you’re connected with your friends and family all the time. Fast internet also means you can go on with your social media shenanigans.

During my trip in the winter of 2019, I had full 4g coverage on my Vodafone. Even Jio and Airtel work very well in the main town. The network coverage only tends to be a hindrance at far off places like Grahan, Rashol.

What and Where to Eat

I have been to Parvati Valley a few times and whenever I am there, I make sure that I pick a different restaurant for each of my meals. I never eat at the same place for more than once. That is really the magic of the restaurants of Kasol and the food they serve.

The entire town is home to several hippie cafes. There are so many of them here that it would probably take around three days if you were to cover them all. This is why it is a heaven for foodies. But they are also a bit expensive, to be honest.

The prominent cuisine in Kasol is Israeli and middle eastern. Italian cuisine is quite ubiquitous in the cafes. The thing which remains common across all the cafes is extremely scrumptious delicacies that will surely satiate your taste buds. The famous cafes include Evergreen Cafe, little Italy, Jim Morrison’s cafe, Moonlight cafe, Bhoj Cafe, Panj tara Cafe.

But don’t worry. There are several other small eateries as well where you will not have to spend a lot on your meals. If you were on a budget, just walk around in the village and you will find several places where you can eat without burning a hole in our pocket.

Shopping in Kasol

Yes, you can do a bit of shopping as well but only if you are not brand or quality conscious. Things that you will find here are more like the stuff that you buy from a flea market. The Israeli and Hippie touch of the village also reflects on the clothes and items that you will find here. It is a good place to buy some small trinkets, handicrafts, accessories, trendy clothes, woolens, fake jewelry, stones, and caps.

Itinerary for Kasol

Below is an example of an itinerary that you can follow for visiting Parvati Valley. For this itinerary, I will assume Delhi as your starting point. But even if you were coming from a different city, only the journey on the first and the last day will be different. The rest of the details will still apply.

  • Day 1: Arrive in Kasol
  • Day 2: Spend the day in the town. Relax, visit the market, and try a few different restaurants.
  • Day 3: Make a day trip to Malana. Start early in the morning, trek to Malana, and come back to Kasol by evening. You cannot spend the night in Malana so you will have to trek down.
  • Day 4: Malana to Tosh. Spend the day in Tosh enjoying the scenery.
  • Day 5: Tosh to Kheerganga
  • Day 6: Kheerganga to Kasol. If you were traveling by Bus, you can in fact return to Delhi on this day itself by boarding an evening bus.
  • Day 7: Return to Delhi

If you did not have 7 days in hand, you can remove either of the days that I suggested. You can also take a look at How to Plan a Weekend Trip to Kasol for a shorter travel plan.

Other Details

Mentioned below are some other details that can be of help in planning your trip.

Clothes to Pack

This will entirely depend on the time of your trip. For the summer season, pack normal cotton clothes and a light jacket for mornings and evenings. If visiting between July to September, opt for clothes that can dry faster. The temperature towards the end of September gets cold so you should bring a jacket accordingly.

If visiting in winter, you will have to bring all heavy woolens, cap, muffler, jacket, gloves, and insulated shoes. You should also pack lip balm and cold cream for a trip in winter.

If you were here in January or February, you may have to walk around in the snow so bring a pair of shoes that can keep the snow and the wet out. For people wanting to trek to Malana or Kheerganga, you should pack trekking shoes that have a good grip.

Medical Assistance

The nearest hospital is either rin Jari or in Manikaran. I could be wrong here but at least I did not notice a hospital in Kasol. I will strongly suggest you bring some basic medicines like for flu, upset stomach, fever, headache, pain relief spray, etc.

Road Conditions

Once you take the diversion to move towards Parvati Valley from Bhuntar, the roads become narrow but it is not terribly bad. I would say the road is good overall with only a few bad patches here and there. The road is all tarred and bad patches are limited to only a few.

During monsoon, there are high chances of landslides. Therefore, the roads may get blocked for a few hours to days. Even in winter, the town remains accessible owing to its lower altitude. Barring a few snowy days, the road will be in good shape. The snow melts away quickly after a few sunny days.

There is just one ATM in Kasol. Usually, it is functional. But I have heard stories of it not working. Therefore, please take enough cash with you that can last the entire trip. The next confirmed ATM is only in Jari, and there might be one in Manikaran too, but not very sure.

Weekend Trip to Kasol – Detailed Day by Day Itinerary

Shefali Joshi

Kasol is on the radar for one and all! A lot of times, we get this question about planning a weekend trip to Kasol. The connectivity with cities like Delhi and Chandigarh makes it possible to plan a trip to Kasol on the weekend.

Kasol Weekend Trip - A Perfect Itinerary

When the travel bug initially bites you – no other place has the same lure for off-beat-discover-the-world folk. The stories from Kasol are plenty , and the verdict is always the same – Kasol is quiet, yet adventurous – unleashing an experience of a lifetime. A Kasol weekend trip is a must for those looking for a quick escape to nature.

While it is true that Kasol is ‘not what it used to be,’ the place still has the same pull for a lot of people. It is because if you ignore the crowds of tourists, you can still capture the same feelings. These feelings include the beautiful green forested mountains, with the Parvati river flowing in the middle of the valley and little houses popping up on faraway lands. It is surely a scene that is always welcoming.

Let's quickly dive into the details:

What is the best time to visit Kasol on weekend?

A Kasol weekend trip can be accomplished at any time you fancy in the year! I would personally avoid Monsoon season, as the hills are sensitive, and you might get stuck due to landslides, etc.

But, if you fancy the winter season – then go for it, and if summer is your jam, there’s a tonne to do. Of course, a lot would also depend on what you want to do when you get to Kasol. For example, visiting the Kheerganga trek will not be possible in winter .

If chilling and enjoying nature is on the cards – then season shouldn’t be a bar. But, if you want to party and attend a rave or two – the best bet would be May – July.

Can you make a weekend trip to Kasol?

You will be able to make a trip to Kasol in 3 days. So, yes, if the idea is to visit Kasol and come back, then a weekend trip to Kasol is possible.

With that said – Kasol is, of course, a must-visit and re-visit (and as many times as you can!) – because Parvati Valley beckons ! Kasol, in particular, and the entire Parvati Valley, in general, is not a mere destination. It is a Himalayan experience that leaves you in awe, pushes you to live, slows you down to notice, and leaves you with #majorfeels.

Let’s look at the most common itinerary that you can follow for a Kasol trip on weekend.

Kasol Weekend Trip – A Perfect Itinerary

So, how do you visit Mini-Israel aka Parvati Valley at every chance you get?

Follow my YouTube Channel & Ask Travel Questions

Let us help you out with planning a perfect Kasol Weekend trip.

Day 0 – Getting Started

Take an overnight bus from Delhi to reach Bhuntar in the AM. Try reaching around 7-9 AM.

Day 1 – Exploring Kasol

Take a bus from Bhuntar to Manikaran in the morning and get off at Kasol. The first bus from Bhuntar for Manikaran via Kasol leaves at 6 AM and then hourly after that. Alternatively, you can hail a private/shared cab from Bhuntar itself. The 31 km distance from Bhuntar to Kasol will take around 1.5 hours in the bus or an hour by taxi.

Travel Tip : You can also plan a budget trip to Kasol if you are short on budget.

Venture out and explore the many cafes nestled in the hills and relax where the vibe is as per your taste. Exploring cafes is the best activity to do in Kasol, and honestly, I have spent quite a few vacations doing just this and nothing else when in Kasol.

It has a charm of its own – the maximum chill that you can imagine. Just stare out into the snow-capped mountains and the music of the Parvati river for your pleasure and peace. Of course, with just a day at hand, it will be difficult to do treks in the Parvati Valley which needs more days.

What about any hikes?

If you’re feeling like changing locations, exploring the mountains – then an evening Chalal trek is on the cards. Chalal is a deeper holiday experience and the intense connection it provides with nature is indescribable. There are a couple of cute cafés in the little hamlet that is located JUST on the river itself. So dig into your thoughts along the river while munching on some incredible delicacies (probably Israeli). Head back to Kasol after indulging yourself in some natural therapy.

Now is the time to relax (as if that’s not what we have been doing the entire Kasol weekend trip!) and unwind. Head on to a beautiful riverside café with some live music to groove. Head on to your hotel for a cozy night in. Or, better yet, chill and enjoy the night skies for as long as they can keep you mesmerized (Eternity for me, you?)

Travel Tip : If you are planning a trip in winter season, do not forget to check the list of places near Delhi to enjoy snowfall in Himachal .

Delicious food to try on a Kasol Weekend Trip

Day 2 – Exploring Parvati Valley

Today, you get to explore the valley further. Take a pick of either a day trip to Tosh , Kheerganga, Manikaran or Malana and have a ball . All three places except Manikaran require some trekking (or extensive for some) – so choose accordingly. I would suggest spending the entire day at these locations and only returning at night to your digs. There are tonnes of things to do in Parvati Valley.

You should always carry your water bottle and refill it as many times as you need water. It will not only keep you hydrated always, but you will also help in saving the Himalayas from plastic garbage. Remember, every tiny step counts and your step in this direction can help save the Himalayas too !! 🙂 🙂

Day 3 – Kasol & Home Base

On your final day – get crackin’ with some retail therapy. Stroll through the local flea market to pick up souvenirs from the trip. You’ll also be able to get your hands on some semi-precious stones, and other trinkets.

Of course, coming to the land famous (infamous, sometimes!) for smoking pot – there is a lot of mainstream cultural reverence for Shivji and Bob Marley alike! Clothing including caps, pullovers, coats, t-shirts is available in plentiful.

Grab some delicious food to hog on before catching the bus / hailing a cab to Bhuntar. From there, choose your mode of transportation back to your home base. Finally, bid adieu to this land of Himachal only to return soon.

Travel Tip : Do not forget to check this complete list of offbeat places in Himachal Pradesh .

BONUS – Must-Visit Cafes in Kasol

I wouldn’t let you hanging when it comes to deciding where to eat in Kasol. I am a firm believer that the MOST important part of any trip is food. Food is a way to be introduced to the culture, the vibe of the place. I strongly believe that without food, a journey isn’t complete, my friend.

  • Buddha Place : This my favorite place in Kasol – primarily because of its location. This tiny little café is situated right on the river. The view makes up for the limited menu.
  • Stone Garden Café: The cafe serves delicious food and overlooks all the action on the main street. It even has live music – always a plus. Anything Israeli is delicious here. Also, bonus (within a bonus!) – it serves alcohol.
  • Jim Morrison Café : A place that is synonymous with the Kasol Experience. From good food to excellent music, from the scrumptious food to lots to do – Jim Morrison has you covered.
  • Evergreen Café: This café is evergreen and has been around forever. Trippy vibes, trance music all accompanied by good food – it is wonderful, a must-visit!
  • Freedom Café: Freedom shows up on this list for being open late at night! It also has excellent coffee.

This itinerary in the article is for a weekend trip to Kasol for those who are running short on time. But if you have a few more more days at hand then you can refer our perfect itinerary of Parvati Valley . It will help you soak into the Parvati Valley at an easy pace and you will enjoy more in the lap of Himalayas.

Kullu Manali Kasol Itinerary – 6 Nights 7 Days

  • Post author: Neontraveller

If you are planning to visit Himachal in the near future (of course with the pandemic not around the corner) or have already booked the tickets to visit Himachal, this blog will be helpful to get a proper Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary.

In this blog we will talk about how we planned our trip, which places we wanted to cover in Himachal this time around, how you should plan your journey, places to stay, things to see and last but not the least how you can manage the entire trip within a proper budget.

Himachal Pradesh lies in the Northern part of India and has been a major center of tourist attraction since decades. Off late the state has gained major popularity with backpackers exploring the smallest corner of the state, which not only offers the most majestic views of the Himalayas but also provides the gush of fresh air, peace & tranquility which people coming from bustling cities actually craves.

Tourism is one of the main sources of income for the locals with farming and agriculture topping the charts. The state depends heavily on tourism which has actually increased the per capita income of the locals to quite some extent. Himachal is very popular for tourists mainly coming from Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh which constitute the major bulk. Few popular places to visit are Shimla, Manali, Kasol, Kalpa, Kinnaur, Lahaul, Spiti, Dharamsala, Dalhousie etc.

While discussing with the locals, we got to know that there are 3 major routes by which one can explore Himachal. One which starts from Pathankot and continues to Dharamsala, Dalhousie & Khajjiar, the other one covers Shimla, Kullu, Manali & Rohtang Pass and last but not the least the other route covers Kalpa, Kinnaur, Kaza, Lahaul & Spiti. Tourists coming from distant places ideally chooses one out of these three routes to cover their journey. If you want to merge two routes or all three of them, you definitely can but it all depends on how many days you have with you and in which season you are planning your trip.

Coming back to our first visit to Himachal, we had the year end holidays up on our sleeves with 6 nights and 7 days in total to explore.  Lets find out how we planned our tour and give you a proper Kullu Manali Kasol Itinerary.

kasol tour itinerary

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 1 – December 25, 2021

As mentioned earlier, amongst the three routes to explore Himachal we decided and chose the one which leads to Shimla, Kullu, Manali & Rohtang Pass. After going through many reviews, videos and talking to the locals we decided to skip Shimla this time as everyone advised against it, wth Shimla being too touristy and crowded during year end holidays.

We booked our train tickets from Howrah to Kalka 3 months back knowing there will be huge rush during this season. The Kalka mail has been renamed to Netaji Express Special (12311) which departed from Howrah on December 25th at 21:55 PM and would reach Kalka on December 27th at 3:00 AM. Kalka is the nearest station to Shimla if you are planning to cover Shimla as well. However as we wanted to skip Shimla we opted to get down at Chandigarh and head towards Manali directly.

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 2 – December 26, 2021

The train crosses important stations like Asansol, Mughal Sarai, Allahabad, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Ambala etc. on its way. If you are travelling in AC coaches, IRCTC will not allow vendors to enter in the train apart from their own pantry staff. So you will get very minimal food options and the food offered by them are of very poor quality. Try ordering from IRCTC online catering where they will provide you food from various local vendors at specified stations and the quality is much better. (PS – Don’t try their Biryani) .

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 3 – December 27, 2021

With Kalka carrying a huge reputation of delay, we finally reached Chandigarh at 3AM with a 2 hour delay. As we had booked our cab as an entire package for the full trip from Chandigarh to Chandigarh, we found it waiting outside the railway station only as soon as we got down. (Tip – Try to avoid booking a cab for the entire package in Himachal, reason will share in details in a separate blog)

kasol tour itinerary

The journey from Chandigarh to Manali is absolutely mesmerizing. If you are planning to go directly to Manali always start early from Chandigarh as the traffic situation in Himachal is worse. A normal journey from Chandigarh to Manali would take 10 – 12 hours considering you stop for two halts on the way for breakfast and lunch with a total distance close to 310 KM. Now if you get stuck in traffic this can go up to 15-16 hours as well which could be quite tiresome. If you want to come to Manali via bus you can also opt for Volvo bus services from Delhi and Chandigarh as well which could save a lot of bucks. Himachal have their own Interstate buses as well which you can opt. I will keep the interstate buses the last option considering the fact the distance , condition of the roads and level of comfort.

The cab package generally varies from season to season. If you are coming in peak season they would generally charge Rs 4000 per day and during off season it can come down to 2500-2800 depending on the type of vehicle. We opted for a 6 seater Innova from Chandigarh to Chandigarh pickup and drop for Rs 30,000 for the entire trip which would cover Manali, Kasol and Manikaran.

We reached Manali at around 3 PM and checked in to our hotel, Hotel Greenfields. Our hotel is situated near the Hadimba Devi temple in Old Manali which is one of the best places we would suggest for travelers. If you are coming to Manali stay in Old Manali, rather than staying near the Mall road. Old Manali has the best vibe and scenic beauty and people over here are mostly quite chilled in terms of hospitality. On the contrary the Mall road area is filled with heavy traffic and flocking with tourists which you surely would want to avoid if you want a peaceful and memorable vacation. In one word try to stay as far away from the Mall Road as possible.  Our hotel had one of the best views of the snow capped mountains from the terrace with a calm and peaceful environment all around. Upon checking in, we took rest for the remaining part of the day.

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 4 – December 28, 2021

Today we planned to visit nearby places of Kullu and Naggar. We set of for our sightseeing at around 9 AM. On the way we stopped for our breakfast near the bank of the Beas river. The river bank was beautiful with snow capped mountains covered on all sides and the gushing Beas river flowing in the middle of the valley. We stopped for sometime to click few pictures and had a sumptuous breakfast. If you are travelling this side, tell your cab driver to stop near the bridge and walk a little towards the river bank to get the best view of the mountains and the river

kasol tour itinerary

Manali is one of the top spot for River rafting and Paragliding. We did not do the Paragliding as we had other plans and as far as river rafting goes we already have done that in our trip to Rishikesh. Read our rafting experience of Rishikesh here.

On our way we stopped at a local shawl factory to explore the different types of Kullu shawls and woolen clothes and materials. If you want you can also purchase from here.

We as a nature lover wanted to explore the raw beauty of nature and explore the villages of the Kullu valley. Our main aim was to avoid the touristy places and explore the locale more. We stopped near the Baishno Devi Temple as one of the point of attraction. Its a multistory temple which houses most of the Hindu gods and deities with a beautiful interior architecture comprising of wood and stones.

kasol tour itinerary

Our next stop was Jana waterfall and the road leading to it was beautiful. Our car was passing by small village paths and local markets of the Kullu district and we could spot the simple livelihood of the people residing there which was quite a pleasant experience.

The path to the Jana waterfall is a quick 5 minute hike from the roadways, do definitely try to reach the source of the waterfall.

kasol tour itinerary

From there we went to visit the famous Naggar castle which has witnessed quite a lot of Bollywood movie shootings inside it, most popular among them are Jab We Met, Maachis, Roza, Barsaat etc. The castle is made up of rock and wood and was constructed in the 14th century. The famous castle of  Raja Sidh Singh was later converted to a heritage hotel in 1978 by the Government. The view of the Kullu valley from the castle is something to die for. Keep this as a part of your sight seeing plan definitely if you are planning for Manali.

kasol tour itinerary

Just outside the Naggar Castle there is this little cafe Naggar Delight Cafe which everyone should definitely visit. We had one of the best homemade Bakery items. Do try this one.

kasol tour itinerary

We enjoyed the rest of the evening near the Mall road. The mall road features many small cafes, shops and restaurants where tourists visit. The price of anything in the mall road is exorbitantly high. So avoid shopping from the Mall road, try to visit their local market at the back end of the mall road. You would get autos to and fro from mall road to your hotels as well.

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 5 – December 29, 2021

We started early once again today at around 8 AM to visit the famous Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel. But to our surprise with the huge rush of tourist coming in Manali this week, we could not even cover 1/3 rd of the path also and got stuck near a place in Manali in the huge traffic. The traffic was standstill for 3 hours with hardly any movement. The distance from Manali to Solang Valley is only 16 km, which ideally should take 1 hour to reach, but during this time we heard from tourists that it takes 10 – 12 hours as well to go up and come down from there due to the crazy traffic. The Rohtang Pass and Atal Tunnel was closed for that day due to heavy snowfall. The traffic situation in Himachal is for real and we have witnessed it first hand. The Government should immediately look into this on an urgent basis as it will get worse day by day. We also noticed that the main reason behind the traffic is caused by the cars which are coming from the other states forming 2,3 lanes unnecessarily.

With Solang being too touristy and adding to it this huge traffic jam, we changed our mind and we opted to visit the Hampta Valley instead, by paying the cab driver a little something extra as the road leading to the valley is quite steep and dangerous. This was the best decision we ever took. The roads and the view of the Hampta Valley is far better than what we have seen in videos of Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel. (which is a little overrated we found). We took an U turn and started off for Hampta Valley and Sethan Village.

If you are planning for Hampta Valley , make sure you have a local Himachal driver with you and the car has to be a 4*4 vehicle. Due to snowfall the road gets quite slippery and its not safe for small vehicle and definitely not for the bikers. (Do not hire a bike or a scooty to go to Hampta Valley). We were lucky that we had a local driver with us who managed to wrap the tires of the car with chains like the army people do, which could easily cut down snow and lay a solid grip in the slippery road. We noticed a lot of cars whose tyres were slippery and instead they opted to park 4,5 km ahead of the valley and let the tourists walk those extra kms due to unavoidable circumstances as the roads are quite scary and steep. Luckily our cab went down till the end.

The valley was covered with snow all around. Also there were small road side stalls to eat over there as well. Tourists were also enjoying activities like Skiing and zip lining as well. Do definitely bargain for the activities.

Upon coming down we stopped in the nearby Sethan village which looked like a postcard picture. The village had mud & wooden houses, pine trees, small local shops with snow capped mountains on all sides with the sun shining right down on it. We did not get a chance to interact with the locals but next time if we come, we will plan to stay in a homestay near the village for sure.

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 6 – December 30, 2021

We started the day by visiting the famous Hadimba Devi Temple. Hadimba Devi is the wife of Bhima, one of the Pandavas from the famous Mahabharata. The temple stands amidst a dense Pine and Cedar forest which was built by Maharaja Bahadur Singh in 1553. The local devotees believes that this is the temple where Hindu deity Hadimba (Hidimba) meditated. This is perhaps the only temple we have seen dedicated to a demoness. Nearby the temple there is a tree temple of her son Ghatothkach as well.

kasol tour itinerary

From there we went to the Bana Bihar and Zoo which had nothing except tall Pine and Cedar trees where you can roam around and click some nice pictures of the beautiful canopy formation at the top.

kasol tour itinerary

The rest of the day we kept for ourselves to explore Old Manali. If you are visiting Manali, try to spend as much time as possible in exploring Old Manali local areas & market rather than spending time on the Mall Road. You will get a vibe of the actual Himachali people and their daily life. The Club house is also nearby which you can explore. Old Manali is less crowded, ambience is chilled, have some of the best bakeries and cafes and the prices of goods are also reasonable. This is an area which are being mostly visited by the foreigners. Smoking and drinking is quite open in this part of Manali and everyone is quite chilled with this. It has a similar resemblance to Kasol. We spent the rest of the evening in a cafe called Mount Walkers. The ambience and the food was fantastic and it has live music as well. Do definitely try this one.

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 7 – December 31, 2021

We checked out early and we headed towards Kasol and Manikaran. Kasol is a hamlet in the Kullu valley beside the Parvati river between Bhuntar and Manikaran. The place has gained a lot of popularity from young travelers due to its chilled ambience and very few restrictions all around. It is situated 75km from Manali. We wanted to cover Manikaran first and then check in to our home stay in Kasol. The road to Kasol from Bhuntar is picturesque with huge mountains on all sides and the beautiful Parvati river accompanying us through out the journey. Manikaran is situated around 6 km from Kasol and is famous for the Manikaran Sahib Gurdwara situated there.

Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara – Its is a famous pilgrimage spot for Hindus and Sikhs and this place is mentioned in the Twelfth Khalsa written by Giani Gian Sikh. This place has been often visited by the Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Ji. The hot boiling spring in the Gurudwara is used by locals and tourists. This place receives thousands of tourists all year around.

kasol tour itinerary

We also attended their Langar and were offered Kara Prasad as well. The road to Manikaran being single often encounters huge traffic. We took 1,5 hours to cover 5 kms, so you can imagine the level of traffic.

Upon our return we noticed many camps on the river bank for which Kasol is famous for, so if you are travelling to Kasol, do definitely try out their river camps which could be quite some experience. We opted for a homestay as Kasol rather than a camp because at night the temperature falls to -4°C as well. Being December 31st, the place was filled with tourists and there were huge traffic, but luckily again we chose a property which is a little away from the Main Kasol market (around 4kms) called Colonel’s Dacha. Its a beautiful homestay situated on the banks of the Parvati river beside the famous Kabila Camps. We enjoyed the rest of the evening in leisure.

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 8 – January 01, 2022

We kept this day for a trek to a small village called Chalal which is situated at a distance of 3 km from Kasol . There are lot of places you can explore from Kasol like Malana, Tosh, Kalga & Pulga, Kheerganga trek etc but as we had very limited time we only opted to visit Chalal. If you are in Kasol definitely go for this trek as its a quite easy one for beginners and you will remember the scenic beauty of the mountains which you will witness along the way forever. Through out the way you will get plenty of cafes to sit and relax as well if you get tired along the way and the beautiful Parvati river will be accompanying you through out the journey.

Chalal is situated at a height of 5300 ft and has managed to retain its old-world mountain village rustic charm. The beautiful houses, the simple livelihood of the people, the animals in the farm and the simple local people will surely attract you to come to this place again. If you are planning to lose yourself to the mountains Chalal is the perfect hamlet for you.

kasol tour itinerary

Upon coming back we visited the Kasol local market and spent the remaining day at leisure. Do try the Israeli cuisine and bakeries in Kasol with a view of the Parvati valley. We will cover in depth of the trek to Chalal on a separate blog.

Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary Day 9 – January 02, 2022

This is the last day of our trip. Try to check out and leave for Chandigarh as early as possible as you never know you can get stuck in a terrible traffic jam near Mandi. We took 12 hours to get down from Kasol to Chandigarh and finally boarded our train.

Conclusion – There are a lot of things we witnessed and lot to share, so it will be very difficult to cover all nitty gritty in one blog. Do keep checking our website for future blog . We have never witnessed this beauty of the Himalayas like this, what we saw in Manali and Kasol but there are a lot of negative things as well worth mentioning which we encountered during our trip. We will cover as much as possible so that you don’t encounter them and give you a proper Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary.

Tips for you to plan during Kullu Manali Kasol itinerary :

  • Try not to book a cab for the entire package, then you will have very less flexibility. The entire trip will be operated on the whims of the driver and the tour operator. We were lucky to have a good driver with us, but not everyone will be lucky. The commitment the operator or the hotel make with you during booking will change with due course of time. For example Atal Tunnel and Rohtang Pass was included in the package as instructed by our hotel, but upon arriving we were told that its not included. Luckily it was closed. For two days the cab was almost sitting idle as we covered most of the places already and they denied travelling to any other important or beautiful places on our request neither they compensated for that.
  • Almost all the cab drivers have connections with vendors for paragliding and rafting from where they get commission. If you don’t want to do any activities tell them upfront.
  • We met mostly nice people on our journey, but we also noticed that people are a little bit outspoken and a little rude even if its a petty issue.
  • Carry a lot of warm clothes with you if you are travelling in the months of December-February. Chances of snowfall depends on weather, so no one can predict upfront. Kasol river bank camps do not receive direct sunlight, hence the place gets very cold at night. We opted for Jackets, hiking shoes, fleece, gloves, socks from Decathlon and Wildcraft.
  • Plan your day early for sight seeing. The traffic is worse and if you get stuck at any point it will consume half of your day.
  • The cost of food in Manali is quite high, try to avoid the restaurants, cafes in Mall road. If you are booking a hotel add your breakfast as complimentary. In that way you can have your lunch on a roadside dhaba, restaurant, cafe at a cheaper price and dinner at the hotel (good if you can include dinner as well).
  • Do not have the pantry car food inside the train, the quality is very bad, order online from IRCTC Food booking you will get good food at a reasonable price on your selected station and on time.
  • Kasol and Old Manali is quite open for drinking, smoking pot and joint. If you are travelling with family you can definitely avoid these places, camps, cafes etc.
  • If you are a Bong, there are plenty of restaurants offering Bengali cuisine near the local market at the backend of the mall road.
  • If you are visiting Himachal do not litter. Please carry all the plastic along with you and dump in a dustbin. We witnessed lot of tourists carelessly throwing plastics on the road, in the snow, near the river, please be responsible while travelling.
  • It takes almost 10-12 hours to reach Manali, so you can definitely add Shimla on your trip which is like 4 hours from Chandigarh and 3 hours from Kalka Railway station. After spending two days, climb to Manali in that way travelling time will be less.
  • If you are coming by flight Chandigarh is the nearest airport. There is another airport in Kullu called the Bhuntar airport but flights to Bhuntar are very expensive and not frequent as well.

Also do read our Delhi and Nainital blog to plan journey to another hill station as well.

The hot springs are now open for all visitors and can be marvelled at during the warmer seasons when they are flowing. I’ve Experienced the Beauty of Kasol During Winters & You Should Too

by Swapnil Sanghavi | Oct 20, 2020 | Himachal , Kasol | 0 comments

If you are looking to experience Kasol is a Non-cliché way, winter is the time to visit. My Winter travel guide for Kasol will help you plan exactly that.

In the last few years, Kasol has emerged as the favourite destination among backpackers, not only from India but from around the world. Therefore, other than a few months, Kasol keeps buzzing with visitors.

While most people plan a visit to Kasol during the peak of summers, I would suggest you visit Kasol during winter. The main reason being, the crowd is less and you get to experience Kasol in an altogether different light.

kasol tour itinerary

My Complete Winter Travel Guide for Kasol

Not many years ago, Kasol was just another remote village in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh that not many people had heard about.

Over the years, the popularity of the destination has increased manifold. This has been primarily because of the easy availability of “Malana Cream”, a type of hashish grown locally. ( Note: consumption & transportation of Hash is illegal in India. In doing so, you can face a hefty fine and jail time)

Well, that isn’t the only reason to visit Kasol. The natural beauty of the region, the beautiful Parvati river and numerous trekking trails are what I suggest you explore on your Kasol visit.

6 Amazing Reasons to Visit Kasol in Winters

Most people visit Kasol during summers (April – June). However, if you ask me, I always suggest people go to Kasol during winter. Well if you are wondering why should you visit Kasol in the summers instead of winters, I can give you at least 6 distinct reasons to do so:

1. There’s far Less Crowd in Winters

Summer is the time when most people from the neghbouring states visit Himachal to get respite from the heat. As a result of this, the small town becomes extremely crowded at the time, especially during the weekends. Winters are relatively less crowded, except the Christmas-new year time. If you were to ask me, I would suggest January as the best time to visit.

2. You can FInd Accommodation at Low Prices

Since winters are not that crowded in Kasol, the prices of stays are relatively less as compared to the peak season. Therefore, if you are on a tight budget, visit Kasol during the winters and save a lot of money.

3. You can Experience Snowfall

The best part about winters in Kasol is the snowfall. The best time to experience snowfall in Kasol in late December to January end. The snowfall in Kasol is truly magical.

4. The Beauty of Kasol During Winters is Unparalleled- With or Without Snowfall

Winters in Kasol has a hue of its own. The snow-covered ground, the Parvati river and the tall pine trees are breathtakingly beautiful, especially on a sunny day. Even when it’s not snowing, you can witness the splendid golden- brown landscapes.

5. Enjoying Sulphur Spring Baths in Kasol Winters is a Bliss

Kasol is known for Hot Water Springs and winters are the best time to enjoy them. Some of these baths are available in Kasol. You can also visit Manikaran, which is 4 km away from Kasol and enjoy these hot water baths. They are super relaxing and will be one of the best experiences to have on your Kasol winter Trip.

6. You Get to Capture the Winter Landscapes

Another amazing reason to visit Kasol during the winter is that you can capture the winter landscapes with your camera. I especially liked the winter sunsets. They were simply amazing!

Winter Travel Guide for Kasol: Best Things to Do & Places To See

Winters in Kasol is a quite different time than summers, not only in terms of the number of visitors but the entire vibe of the place. Here are some of the best things to include in your winter travel guide for Kasol:

Explore the Town

The very first thing to do in Kasol during winters is to go explore the town. Kasol is a small place that you can see in a couple of hours. When I visited in January, there were not many people in Kasol and a lot of shops and cafes were closed. Despite that, the town looked beautiful and serene.

Trek to Tosh Village

When it snows in Kasol, many villages get cut off. However, it is possible to trek up to Tosh village, the last motorable village in Parvati Valley.   Tosh village is one of my favourite places in Himachal and if you are visiting Kasol, this must be a part of your itinerary.

Take a Short Hike to Chalal

If you are not in the mood for a long trek, I would suggest you take a short hike to Chalal village. Chalal is a quiet hamlet that can be reached in less than an hour. The trek takes you through a pine forest adjacent to the gushing Parvati river. This picturesque hike will make your hike worthwhile.

Enjoy Some Delicious Food at the Cafes

Kasol is quite famous for its cafes that serve a range of food from Israeli to Italian and Indian. However, during winters not all cafes are open. Some of the popular cafes that are open are Evergreen cafe, stone garden, namaste, etc.

Experience Snowfall

This is one of the best experiences you can have in Kasol during winters. The best months to visit Kasol for snowfall are December and January.  Trust me, this is going to be one of your best memories from Kasol.

Relax and Soak in the Warm Winter Sun

The best way to enjoy the winters in Kasol is to just relax and do absolutely nothing. Soak in the beauty of nature and on a sunny day just enjoy the warmth of the winter sun on your bare skin. It is so relaxing!

Click some Splendid Pictures

Winters is also a great time to click some amazing pictures in Kasol. Whether it is the snow-laden mountains, or the clear blue skies, or just the pine forests, the pictures are bound to turn out amazing.

Take a Hot Sulphur Spring Bath

Yes! Kasol has hot springs too. You don’t even have to go to Manikaran or Kheerganga to enjoy a relaxing hot spring bath, you can do that in Kasol as well. In winters, these baths are even more amazing.

Visit Manikaran

Of the few places that are accessible near Kasol, even in deep winters is Manikaran. You can easily visit Manikaran from Kasol. A number of shared taxis are buses that go on that route. And, yes of course in Manikaran you can enjoy the hot springs as well, that too for FREE!

Trek to Kheerganga

The trek to Kheerganga from Kasol is possible only till December. Once the snowfall begins, it is not advisable to go on the trek. This is because the trail to Kheerganga becomes extremely slippery and dangerous. The trail becomes covered with snow and ice, therefore I would strongly advise against such misadventures.

An Ideal Kasol Itinerary for Winters

If you are travelling to Kasol for the first time and that too in winter, I would suggest that you plan for at least 4 days. Below I have shared with you a 4-day Kasol winter itinerary.

Depending on your starting point, I assume that you reach Kasol in the morning. In order to reach Kasol, you can take any bus that goes towards Manali and then get down at Bhuntar in Kullu.

NOTE: I haven’t included the Kheerganga trek in the itinerary. This is because after snowfall it is not advisable to go on the trek. However, if you are visiting during November or early December, you can surely undertake the trek with some professionals from the region.

Winter Travel Guide for Kasol: Where to Eat & Stay?

While summer in Kasol is buzzing with tourists, winter is a relatively quieter time in Kasol. Owing to the decline in visitors, a lot of places in Kasol shut down during winters, especially after a snowfall. However, there are still plenty of options when it comes to finding eateries and accommodations.

Where to Stay in Kasol in Winters?

Although most hotels are open in Kasol even during winters, I would suggest that you stay in a homestay for a more authentic experience. There are many homestays in Kasol, that offer accommodation even during snowfall.

The best part about visiting during winters is that you don’t have to pay the surge prices during winters. However, I would suggest the Christmas- New year time, which can be really crowded.

Where to Eat in Kasol During Winters?

Although most cafes remain open during winters, after the snowfall, many of them shut down. Some famous cafes that are open even during the peak winters are  Evergreen cafe, stone garden, namaste, etc.

Other than these you can also get food in the local dhabas and guesthouses.

9 Super Important Tips for Your Kasol Trip During Winters

A Winter Travel Guide for Kasol is incomplete without some handy tips. I have shared below some very important tips for all travellers visiting Kasol during winters. Make sure you follow these:

1. Good & Comfortable Footwear

I cannot emphasise on having a good pair of footwear enough. The first thing you must get if you wish to truly explore Kasol in winter is some good footwear. They should be warm and have a good grip so that you don’t slip on the ice formation.

2. Pack Adequate Warm Clothes

By warm clothes, I mean everything, right from pullovers to socks and from gloves to innerwear. You also must carry a very warm jacket and a muffler to keep yourself warm.

3. Stick to the Known Routes, Do Not Experiment

DO NOT venture out on a trail that is not known. During the winter season, there is a constant danger of wild animals. So, don’t go around exploring unknown trails on your own.

4. Power Bank is a Must Carry

At times of heavy snowfall in the region, power cuts are fairly common. Therefore, I insist that you carry a power bank with you. Charge it whenever you get the time.

5. Carry enough Cash

Don’t rely on ATMs and other card-to-cash services in Kasol for cash during winters. While the ATM can quickly run out of cash during winters, some of the card to cash services at the local travel agents offices may be closed during after snowfall. Therefore, carry adequate cash with you on your Kasol winter trip.

6. Take along your Toiletries & Essentials

If you are visiting Kasol during winters, I would recommend you carry your essentials and toiletries along. This is especially true for women travellers who must carry along with their menstrual hygiene products, just to be on the safer side.

7. You need Trekking Gear if you Wish to Trek

The easy and moderate treks including Kheerganga become challenging during winters. This is especially true for treks post snowfall. Because of the ice formation, the treks can become difficult and very slippery due to ice formation.

Therefore, if you wish to go on a trek, you must carry along proper trekking gear as you may not find many providers that provide such facilities during winters. Also, make sure if you are pursuing a trek during winters,  go in a group rather than going alone.

8. Be Careful Near the Parvati River

Although this is true for all the seasons, this point becomes even more relevant during winters. The stones near the river bed can be slippery and dangerous, so try to stay as far away from the river bed as possible.

9. Do Not Venture Out in the Night Alone

Another safety tip I would like to include is that you must try not to venture out alone after sunset. If you have to go, go out in a group. A torch always comes in handy during such times.

I hope my winter travel guide for Kasol helps you plan your trip to Kasol. If you have any further questions, feel free to drop them down below in the comment section and I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Things To Do In Kasol

With an endless array of activities like trekking and riverside camping, Kasol is a hotpot of adventure! However, despite there being plenty of articles on the internet talking about the major tourist attractions of Kasol, not every travel guide to Kasol among them will let you in on the unconventional and even hidden places to see and things to do there.

1. Trek to Kheerganga

The first thing every Kasol tour guide will suggest you experience is the mighty Kheerganga trek that takes you deep into lush jungles, over steep trails, past blooming apple orchards, and through the stunning Parvati Valley ! Kheerganga is probably the most famous place to visit in Kasol. Mounted with surplus beauty, it’s also a place of holy significance. And the best part, after a taxing hike of about 14 km, the Kheerganga valley rewards visitors with a revitalising dip in natural hot water springs that instantly washes away all fatigue! To reach it, all you gotta do is take a bus from Kasol to Barshaini, the starting point of Kasol’s most famous trek.

2. Hike to Tosh Village

From Tosh, you can also go for a trek to Kutla Village, for which you may need a local Kasol guide to show you the way.

3. Watch Sunsets At Chalal Village

Covered with apple trees, the tiny village of Chalal is the laid-back version of Kasol and is among the best weekend getaways from Delhi . A few specific spots in Chalal offer some of the most gorgeous sunsets you’ll ever see in the hills! Chalal is a mere 1.5 km from Kasol and can be easily covered on foot. A walk from Kasol to Chalal along the Parvati river and amidst pine woods is truly an enchanting experience!

4. Taste Honey & Adventure At Grahan Village

Other than this, the village serves as the base camp for the Sar Pass trek. The trek from Kasol to Grahan and then from Grahan to Sar Pass leads trekkers through surreal pine forests, rhododendron meadows, milky waterfalls, and past snowy mountains. The last point of the trek is a frozen lake that is nothing short of a vision!

5. Visit The Quirky Malana Village

Malana is about 20 km away from Kasol and is undoubtedly a unique settlement in Parvati Valley. The unique culture, trippy vibes and claims of the locals make it worth adding this little village to your Kasol guide .

6. Trek To Waichin, The Mini Kheerganga

Blessed with tall pine and coniferous trees, dazzling views of the snow-covered Himalayas, and minimal commercialization, the beauty of Waichin is unmatched! The charming valley and local village life offer absolute peace and calm that’ll make you want to stay longer and keep coming back!

7. Discover The ‘Magic’ Of Rasol

In addition to watching friendly village dwellers grow and reap this wonderful plant, you can learn a great deal about the hardships of these farmers in the hills. Discover the peaceful and eco-friendly methods that help them overcome these hurdles with ease without needing technology and the comforts of the cities.

8. Scale The Pin-Parvati Pass

This taxing 100-km long trek through the splendid Parvati Valley and the barren landscapes of Pin Valley are recommended only for proficient trekkers who are physically fit to undertake it.

9. Take A Spiritual Journey To Manikaran Sahib

Enveloped in mist oozing from the hot water springs surrounding the shrine, this gem of a place is known to embrace visitors in a refreshing and peaceful aura! When here, you can attend the heart-warming prayer, treat yourself to wholesome ‘langar’, enjoy some natural sauna inside the caves, and take a dip in hot water springs.

10. Wander In Pulga’s Apple Orchards

When here, you can interact with the friendly locals, try Himachali cuisine at Boom Shankar Café, meet a cool sadhu baba at the Pink House, and revel in the utter serenity and peace of this hidden abode!

11. Go Fishing In Naggar

Don’t forget to visit the majestic Naggar Castle and take Lord Shiva’s blessings at the ancient Shiva Temple, two charming aspects of Naggar that put it on every travel guide to Kasol .

12. Taste The Thrill Of Riverside Camping

Set up camp near the gushing Parvati river and catch up with old friends over a bonfire, music, and roasted marshmallows! Add a zest of fun to your holiday in Kasol with a night (or two) or riverside camping that will leave you and your gang with memories for life. It is anyway the best way to wear down your fatigue after all those tiring sessions of trekking or to intoxicate your mind, body, and soul of those long hours at the office!

Give yourself and your amigos a relaxing night in the lap of nature and the canopy of a thousand stars, another privilege our bustling metros don’t grant us!

13. Chill At The Peppy Cafes In Kasol

What’s more, Kasol is now home to India’s first ever hemp cafe – Off Limits! It serves a wide range of food and beverages, including pasta, burgers, breakfast platters, and the best hot chocolate you’ll ever have, all infused with the goodness of hemp! That sure gives us a great reason to visit, doesn’t it?

Kasol Travel Guidelines

  • Plan your holiday a month or two in advance. Kasol is a pretty popular among tourists, so chances of getting a good stay are really thin if you delay your booking procedure.
  • Carry sufficient amount of cash. Don’t waste time hunting ATMs in the valley.
  • Carry a water bottle and fill it up whenever you get a chance. Don’t keep purchasing and discarding numerous plastic bottles.
  • Do not litter! Discard waste only in designated waste bins and keep the surroundings clean.
  • Respect local customs and laws of villages or towns that you visit or trek to. Not all local settlements allow strangers in their midst.
  • Do not take pictures or shoot videos of locals without prior permission.
  • Make sure to hire an experienced Kasol guide for offbeat treks and hikes.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and a good pair of hiking shoes without embarking on a trek.
  • Many villages in and around Kasol produce Hashish as Cannabis grows naturally in these parts owing to favourable climate. Do not, however, carry it home with you as Hash is illegal in other parts of India.

1. How many days is enough for Kasol?

3 to 4 days are enough for a trip to Kasol unless you wish to embark on a hardcore trek like the Pin Parvati or Sar Pass. Consult our travel guide to Kasol to know the best treks in the region and plan accordingly. Also, make sure you leave room for leisure activities and shopping.

2. How much will it cost for a trip to Kasol?

A Kasol trip will cost you around INR 3,500 to INR 7,000 depending on your mode of transport, choice of accommodation, and duration of the trip.

3. Is it safe to travel to Kasol now?

While Kasol is generally safe to travel in all seasons, monsoon is not considered an ideal time to visit as the roads and hiking trails of Kasol turn muddy and slippery.

4. How do you travel around Kasol?

Local HRTC buses ply at several tourist spots in Kasol along with many private and shared cabs. Other than this, you can simply choose to get around on foot as many of the main tourist hubs in Kasol are within walking distance and nothing beats the joy of hiking amidst towering pine trees, green hills, and chirping birds!

5. How to reach Kasol from Delhi by bus?

Travellers mostly opt for an overnight journey to Kasol in either a private Volvo or an economical HRTC bus bound for Kullu Manali. Get down at Bhuntar and take another bus or a private cab to Kasol. You can book a seat on Volvo or state-run buses online or directly at the ISBT-Kashmere Gate bus stand in Delhi from where these buses normally ply. A bus journey from Delhi to Kasol typically costs around INR 1,000-1,500. You can also hire a private cab or rent a vehicle to drive there yourself.

Things To Carry:

  • Day backpack (20 – 30 Ltrs):  When you are on a local sightseeing tour, you are required to carry only a few necessary items and for that, you need a day backpack as you will leave your bigger one at your designated stay.
  • Floaters or Sandals:  When you are spending your day at leisure, a good pair of sandals and floaters will help you to move freely.
  • 1 Down Jacket / Main Jacket:  It’s emphasized that you need to carry proper layers so you can avoid getting cold which is why you need to carry an insulated jacket that you can put on over your other clothes.
  • 1 Pair of Thermal:  Thermal is a piece of garment that helps in keeping your body warm in cold temperatures. It is a necessary item that you need when traveling to cold regions.
  • Outdoor Shoes:  A comfortable shoe is required when traveling outdoors, especially in the mountains. They shouldn’t be chunky, instead, they should be lightweight and sturdy.
  • 3 Quick Dry Tees:  You must keep at least three pairs of quick dry tees so that you can wash them in between stops for proper hygiene.
  • 3 Pair of Cotton Socks:  Cotton socks are extremely comfortable to move around in and are lightweight as well which is why you can always count on a good pair of cotton socks while traveling. However, keep in mind to change them and avoid wearing them if they are moist.
  • 1 Pair of Woolen Socks:  A good pair of woolen socks, especially merino, are comfortable, limit odors and provide adequate insulation from the cold so you can wear them at night.
  • 1 Poncho:  A poncho is an evolved form of a raincoat that provides coverage to your body as well as your bag and ensures total water protection from the rain.
  • Quick-dry towel:  A quick-dry towel will help in maintaining proper hygiene. It must dry quickly because the wet fabric will only increase the chance of bacterial growth.
  • Gloves : Insulated gloves help in maintaining proper body heat in your hands.
  • Sun Cap:  A lightweight sun cap with side flaps is perfect to keep your head cool and avoid sunburns on a sunny day.
  • Water Bottle (1 Ltrs):  Hydration is extremely important when it comes to traveling. Carrying a water bottle that you can refill with Himalayan water is a must.
  • Bag for all your Toiletries:  A bag with all your essentials including napkins, toothpaste, sanitizers, paper soap, etc should be carried in a ziplock bag.
  • Personal Basic Medical Kit:  Carrying a medical kit with bandages, Dettol, and medication for headaches, nausea, etc is necessary.
  • Sunglasses / People who use spectacles (Use Photochromic glasses instead of contact lenses) : Photochromatic glasses are specs that are designed to transform into anti-glare shades depending upon exposure to the sun. They are good when it comes to eye protection but one can also opt for clip-on glasses etc.
  • Mobile charger / Power bank:  Although you'll get electricity at most places, it is always advisable to carry a charged power bank in case of emergencies.
  • Documents : Identification proofs like Aadhar Card, and driver's License.
  • Extra Polythene:  In case your clothes get wet or your garments don’t dry, you can carry them in polythene. However, make sure that all the plastic that you are carrying into the woods leaves with you. Don’t litter.
