wonderful trip

I have always been a solo rider. Traveling in a group was so much fun, having a backup vehicle made things even better. All the hotels and meals being booked made my life easier and of course - all the great friends I have made - were the cherry on the cake :) it's a nice time spending for me.

To start with I had the most adventurous ride of a lifetime. A bike trip allows you to experience the best just in front of your eyes and Manali to Leh was one of my dream destinations. The word that follows will be a huge WOW. I went with my 2 friends and once we reached there we were provided with our bikes. Another best thing was that the fuel was included in the package. This is a must-trip for the bikers.

Deepak Kaul

The trip sure will test your resolve and character as challenges on and off the road, altitude sickness, scarcity of your conventional food, etc. But once past that the memories you make are pure and will last for life! I sincerely feel relieved to take the trip through Banbanjara and not attempt a solo ride on our own. This trip is for those who are willing to push themselves a bit extra to experience the Adventure of a Lifetime!!

Vikrant Pratap

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOURISTS VISITING LADAKH

Ladakh is a very safe, tourist-friendly and cheering place, but still, you need to take care of some preparations which can make your tour even better and memorable:

– Only post-paid mobile phones work in Leh-Ladakh, preferably BSNL, Airtel and Jio. As phones may not work in many places, keep your family members informed well in advance not to worry if they fail to contact you.

– You would hardly find any cellular network in most of the areas in Leh. BSNL works better here, however, you would find Airtel and Jio signals also at some places (Leh, Hunder and Diskit).

– Don’t expect high-speed internet in Ladakh.

– Keep ready a pair of woollen (not heavy) with you as temperature may dip as low as 5 degrees any time even during summer months.

– Carry good Sun Screen lotion, sunglasses (goggles), cap with you to avoid sunburn as sun rays are direct and can burn your skin.

– Don’t forget to carry photo id with you. Driving License, Passport, Voter Cards, and Aadhaar are valid photo IDs.

– While travelling on the mountains, keep drinking water and eating healthy food and fruits to avoid high altitude sickness and dizziness due to curvy roads, low air pressure and dry air.

– Carry headache, stomachache, anti-vomiting tablets with you.

– You may consume diamox at least 7-8 hours before arrival at Leh (preferably before falling asleep) and may also take before boarding plane to Leh. The medicine is optional. Having rest and drinking enough water for some hours after reaching Leh is advised.

– Leh has some ATM machines where you can withdraw cash. These machines witness long queues of customers during peak season and run out of cash many times. Non-connectivity is another issue. So carrying enough cash is advisable.

– Please respect the Buddhist and Muslim culture of Ladakh. People of all communities here believe in brotherhood and harmony and respects the tourists. The residents expect the same from the tourists.

Over the past decade, there has been a big surge in the number of travelers visiting the unexplored regions in the Northern Himalayas. Out of all the relatively new Himalayan Destinations, Ladakh has become the most visited over the last few years. Travelling to Ladakh by road has become one of the most sought after road trips in the country. Adventure lovers from all over the world visit this ‘Land of High Passes’ during the period between June to September. Although Leh, the biggest city in Ladakh, has a well-connected airport, the majority of the people prefer to travel to Ladakh by road. In fact, Manali Leh Manali Bike Tour has given a whole new definition to motorcycling in India .

As suggested by the name, Manali Leh Manali Bike Tour starts from the bustling tourist town of Manali. Riders coming through Delhi can take an overnight bus to reach Manali and then spend a day getting acclimatized to the altitude. Although the distance between Manali and Leh is a mere 472km, it takes three days to reach as one has to acclimatize by taking a couple of halts in places such as Jispa and Sarchu. The primary reason motorcycle enthusiasts do this trip is the fact that it comes with various challenges such as unpredictable weather and slushy dirt tracks. The 11-day motorbike trip to Ladakh  offers a tonne of adventures such as crossing few of the highest motorable roads in the world and camping in vastly remote places.

Detailed Itinerary: Day 00: Delhi(321m) to Manali | 530km (Volvo tickets not included) Arrive in Delhi on your own and in the evening, board an overnight bus to Manali. The location/time regarding the bus is going to be provided in advance.  Day 01: Arrival in Manali(2050m)   Altitude Gain - 1729m Highlights - Orientation, Manali Exploration Arrive in Manali in the morning and meet the Adventure Nation team at the pre-booked hotel. After resting for some time, be available to attend the orientation session conducted by our on-ground team. Later in the afternoon, you can go for manali . The popular places to explore in Manali are Hadimba Temple, Vashisht Village, Mall road, Old Manali lane, etc. You have the liberty to visit places of your own choice. Later, have dinner at the hotel and stay overnight. Day 02: Manali to Jispa(3200m) | 140km      Grade/Duration - Moderate/Approx. 8 Hours Altitude Gain - 1150m Highlights - Atal tunnel, Keylong. Today, we are going to start our Ladakh expedition by riding towards Jispa on the much-celebrated Manali-Leh Highway. On The Way, You Will Pass Atal tunnel, Tandi (Last Petrol Pump Before Upshi) And Keylong. We continue the ride towards Jispa crossing the quaint mountain towns of Sissu and Keylong. Arrive at the destination early in the evening and have an adventurous overnight stay in tents. Day 03: Jispa to Padum (3669m) | 140km      Grade/Duration - Difficult/Approx. 7 Hours Altitude Gain - 469m Highlights - Shinku La, Phuktal Gompa, Riding along Tsarap River Keep yourself completely hydrated by drinking a tonne of water as we are going to spend the night at a relatively high altitude. Today’s ride is one of the shortest rides of the expedition but the adrenaline level remains high as the terrain is full of adventure. We shall be riding on the relativey new Lahaul-Zanskar road via Shinku La. The ride is trecherous but filled with stunning landscapes. We shall be witnessing the magnificent Mt. Gumbo and would have fun-filled river crossings. If time permits, we shall go for a short hike to the Phuktal Gompa. Arrive at Padum later in the day and be prepared for a rather adventurous overnight stay in a tent. Day 04: Padum to Kargil (2676m) | 240km      Grade/Duration - Difficult/Approx. 8 Hours Altitude Loss - 993m Highlights - Off-roading trails, Scenic ride Start riding after an early breakfast as today’s going to be a long but exciting day of riding. Water-Crossings are a common sight on the road while riding to Kargil and the ideal time to cross them is early in the day. The ride is going to be a long, and umcortable at times, but full of scenic landscapes all through. Arrive in Kargil after riding through the day and check-in at the hotel. Stay overnight. Day 05: Kargil to Leh(3500m) | 220km Grade/Duration - ModerateApprox. 6 Hours Altitude Gain- 824m Highlights - Namika La, Fotu La, Lamayuru Monastery, Today’s ride is going to be comparatively more comfortable as the roads between Kargil and Leh are relatively decent. We again start early in the morning from the hotel and soon after riding for a couple hours, we are going to cross two high passes known as Namika La(3700m) and Fotu La(4108m). Both of these passes are located in the Zanskar region. Another two hours of riding takes us to Lamayuru, which is home to the highest located monastery in the region. Not that the journey until Lamayuru is boring, but the landscape after crossing the village is extraordinary. We continue to ride towards Leh through a spectacular moonscape and reach our destination in the evening. After arriving in the biggest city in Ladakh, check into the hotel and rest for a while. Later, if time permits, you may go out and take a stroll in the Leh market. Stay overnight. Day 06: Leh to Nubra (3048m) | 160km      Grade/Duration - Difficult/Approx. 7 Hours Altitude Loss - 452m Highlights - Khardung La, Diskit Monastery After a rather relaxed day in Leh, we continue our expedition and start riding towards Nubra Valley through what’s considered the highest motorable road in the world i.e. Khardung La(5359m). The road towards the pass is well paved and tarred till the checkpoint near South Pullu and after crossing the checkpoint, the road starts to get slushy with loose rocks on one side. Get yourself clicked after reaching Khardung La and hit the road quickly as it is not safe to spend much time on top of the pass due to the high altitude and thin air. We stop for a quick lunch after climbing down from the pass and then continue our journey. After riding for another couple of hours, we make a brief stop to visit the 32m high Maitreya Buddha statue in Diskit Monastery. Our arrival in the valley will be welcomed by the white sand dunes and the sightings of the double-hump Bactrian camels grazing. Stay overnight at the hotel/campsite. Day 07: Nubra to Pangong(4250m) | 260km      Grade/Duration - Difficult/Approx. 8 Hours Altitude Gain -1202m Highlights - Riding along Shyok River, Water Crossings  After having breakfast, we start riding towards the most photographed destination in Ladakh, Pangong Lake. Despite the fact that we are not going to cross any high pass today, the ride should be quite interesting as we ride on the much less traveled road via Shyok. Most of our ride is going to be along the beautiful Shyok River and through the villages like Agham, Shyok, Durbuk, and Tangste. The road remains slushy along with some exciting water crossings and rocky terrain so being cautious is important. After crossing Durbuk, the last stretch of the ride is going to be along the lake. From the very first glimpse, the lake leaves an everlasting impression on the visitors. Get yourself photographed and just admire the wonder that is this shimmering blue lake. Departure from Delhi at 06:30 p.m. and reach Manali the next morning (Pickup from Chandigarh in Mid). Overnight journey.

Check in to the hotel! Take a deep breath and let the stresses of life melt away as you settle into your new surroundings.

After a delicious breakfast, gather for a post-meal briefing to set the tone for the day ahead. Get ready to explore all that Manali has to offer!

Start with a bit of self-exploration to really get a feel for this beautiful location. The stunning scenery and natural beauty are just waiting to be discovered.

Later head out for a self-exploration of Manali. If you're looking for some must-see destinations, don't miss Hidimba Temple, Jogni Waterfall, Vashisht Temple, and the famous Mall Road.

Take a stroll through the charming streets of Old Manali and enjoy a delicious meal or refreshing drink at each stop along the way. You won't be disappointed!

As the sun begins to set, it's time to head back to the hotel for some much-needed rest and relaxation. Get a good night's sleep to prepare for all the adventures that await you tomorrow!

Wake up early morning & check out.

Today we embark on an epic journey that will take us through some of the most stunning landscapes in the world.

We'll traverse the legendary Leh-Manali Highway, a winding road that weaves in and out amongst the mighty snow-clad peaks of the Western Himalayas.

Drive through the Atal tunnel to Lahaul Valley, along the Chandra River to Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti.

As we continue our journey, we'll drive through Darcha, Patsio, and Zingzing Bar before reaching one of the most challenging passes on the way to Leh - the Baralacha-La Pass, standing tall at 4892 meters. But don't worry, the panoramic views of the high-rising and sky-touching mountains will make the effort worthwhile.

And just on the top of Baralacha-La, we'll be treated to a breathtaking view of Suraj Tal, a small lake that is the source of the Bhaga River and is surrounded by majestic mountain ranges. We'll then gradually descend down through Killing Sarai to our destination for the night - Sarchu.

Tonight, we'll be camping under a million stars in Sarchu, where you'll have a chance to experience the magic of sleeping in the great outdoors. Get ready to snuggle up in your cozy sleeping bag and drift off to sleep while surrounded by the sounds of nature.

Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled day as we leave the campsite and head toward Leh!

Our journey will be full of twists and turns, starting with the Gata Loops - 21 hairpin bends that will take your breath away as we climb to an altitude of 4669 meters.

As we continue, we'll cross the Nakee-La and Lachung-La passes, located at 4739 meters and 5065 meters respectively, just above the famous Brandy Bridge. These passes will offer stunning panoramic views of the rugged Himalayan landscape.

After an exciting morning drive, we'll take a break for a quick lunch at Pang.

After a quick lunch, drive through the Moore plains, which is a completely flattened straight road extending over 30 km, where we might spot tiny colonies of adorable marmots and wild herds of Kyung-yak grazing in the open fields.

As we drive on, we'll reach the Tanglang-La pass, standing tall at 5328 meters and recognized as the second-highest motorable road in the world. The view from the top will leave you spellbound and make you feel like you're on top of the world.

Finally, we'll drive through Upshi and Karu before reaching our destination - Leh!

Next check in to our hotel and spend the night relaxing and preparing for the adventures ahead. Get ready for an unforgettable experience in Leh!

After a lavish breakfast at the hotel, it's time to explore the mesmerizing beauty of Leh.

Start your local sightseeing with a visit to the iconic Shanti Stupa, which stands tall on a hilltop, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Leh city.

Next, visit the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers, a truly awe-inspiring sight where the two rivers meet and flow in different colors.

The journey continues with a visit to the Magnetic Hills, a natural wonder where the magnetic forces in the hills create an optical illusion of a car moving uphill on its own.

Pay a visit to the Hall of Fame, a museum dedicated to the Indian Army's bravery and sacrifices.

Next visit the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, a revered Sikh shrine located on the Leh-Kargil highway. The Gurudwara is believed to be built on the spot where Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, had meditated during his travels.

In the evening, we'll have some free time for leisure and acclimatization. You can explore the local Leh market, where you'll find a treasure trove of souvenirs and handicrafts. Or, you can simply relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the city.

As the night falls, we'll come back to our hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner before hitting the sack. Get ready for another exciting day in Leh!

After a hearty breakfast in the morning, head to Nubra Valley [3000m] via Khardung-la, one of the highest motorable roads in the world at a staggering altitude of 5359 mt.

As you traverse this challenging terrain, feast your eyes on the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and snow-capped peaks. Finally, you'll reach Nubra Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers.

Check into your hotel and get ready to explore this breathtakingly beautiful region. Take a stroll along the sand dunes of the cold deserts of India(Hunder) and experience the magical sunset against the rugged mountains.

Don't miss the chance to ride a camel(self-paid), a classic Nubra Valley experience that you won't forget anytime soon. Visit the monasteries around and immerse yourself in the rich culture and traditions of Ladakh.

As the sun sets, return to your hotel for a scrumptious dinner and a peaceful night's rest.

Start your day with a breathtaking sunrise that will awaken your senses and revitalize your soul.

After fueling up with a delicious breakfast, embark on a journey to Turtuk, a hidden gem nestled in the majestic landscapes of India.

The village boasts pristine natural scenery and an undeniable charm that will leave you captivated.

Take your time to explore the village and soak in its unique ambiance, before returning to Diskit in the evening.

Enjoy a delicious dinner, and sleep peacefully, knowing that you've experienced a truly unforgettable day.

After breakfast check out, and start your journey to the famous Pangong Tso [4350m] via the Agam and Shyok villages.

Pangong Tso which is perhaps one of the most amazing lakes in Asia changes its color 4 – 5 times a day.

The Pangong Lake or “Lake of the great hollow” is considered the world's highest saltwater lake.

At an elevation of 4300 meters, the air is cool even in summer at Ladakh. Pangong Lake is about 4 km wide on average and at least 136 Km long. The extent of the known portion is, therefore, upwards of 250 square miles (400 sq. km).

Reach Pangong Lake & check in to the campsite. Dinner & sleep overnight.

After a hearty breakfast, gear up for an exciting journey to the stunning Tso Moriri Lake - a place that is truly off the beaten path and promises to be one of the highlights of your Ladakh adventure!

As you embark on this journey, be prepared to witness the unspoiled beauty of Ladakh, with its rugged terrain and dramatic landscapes that will take your breath away.

As you finally arrive at the stunning Tso Moriri Lake, you'll be greeted by crystal-clear waters that stretch as far as the eye can see, reflecting the blue sky and towering mountains in the distance.

Overnight stay & dinner at Karzok stay.

After breakfast, start your day early & get ready for an exhilarating journey as we make our way to Sarchu.

“ Well..who didn't dreamt of visiting Ladakh after watching the beautiful lake of Pangong in movie 3 Idiots...I was one of such dreamer and after watching Jab Tak hai Jaan ,the dream became a thing to do from bucket list. And this dream came true in July 2019. Riding Royal Enfield on the terrains of Leh-Ladakh , the highest motarable road and pass of Changla and Khardunga pass. A hearty thank to the WanderOn group for making this trip so easy for all 8 of us (we were 8 guys in number) . I was highly doubtful at starting that I would be able to ride on such difficult roads and terrains but all thanks to the amazing captains Shashank and Ayush Bhai for being with us and guiding us all the time that I was able to do such a long bike trip without difficulty. Noor Bhai aur Sandeep Bhai...aapke baare me Kya bolun...Jaan la di aapne trip me. Noor Bhai keep being jovial and Sandy Bhai thanks a lot for the bonfire evening. Keep singing and keep spreading love Bhai. Guys, highly recommended group. The arrangements and facilities in such places by WanderOn group was beyond expectations.
