McFly have announced that they will celebrate the band's 21 st birthday by playing two very special shows at The O2 on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 October 2024.
It’s been 21 years since McFly first formed, a journey which has taken them from their breakthrough hit ‘Five Colours In Her Hair’ to last year’s full-force rock album ‘Power To Play’. Along the way Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd have scored seven #1 singles, seven Top 10 albums, 10 million sales, a BRIT Award, sold-out countless arena shows and still remain the youngest band to ever have a debut album go straight to number 1, beating The Beatles.
Harry Judd says, “ It’s crazy to think that it has been 21 years since McFly was formed and we all moved into a house together! We don’t take it for granted that after all this time people still want to hear new music from us and come to see us play live. As a band we’re always looking forward at what’s next, but this show will be a fun opportunity to reflect on our career so far. And what better place to throw a 21st birthday party than at The O2!”
Now, they prepare to play all their hits and fan favourites from the past twenty-one years for a gig not to be missed by any McFly fans. News of The O2 show adds to McFly’s 2024 tour schedule which also includes big outdoor shows and select festival dates.

Due this summer, ‘Power To Play’ sees Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter return to the guitar-driven pop rock that earned them their earliest success , with lead track Where Did All The Guitars Go? a sure fire sign of what’s to come.
“At the start of the process, we all got together and said what they wanted this new album to be. We all had this one thing in common, and it was guitars,” says the band of the 11-song record, which is produced by Danny, alongside their good friend Jason Perry.
“We love being on tour and playing live, and we hate this weird pressure where you don’t get played on the radio if you have guitars in your songs. That was always in the back of our heads, so we decided to forget all about it and that same day Tom wrote Where Did All The Guitars Go? on the way home.”
They add: “On every album, there’s a song which becomes a foundation, a lightbulb moment, and this was it. Guitars, honesty, energy, all these personality traits are what give us the band’s identity. We want to reach that kid with long hair, get them excited about music and make them want to pick up a guitar and jump on their bed. That’s what this record is about.”
‘Power To Play’ is out June 9 via BMG and available to pre-order now .

About McFly
McFly are an English pop band formed in London in 2003. The band took their name from the Back to the Future character Marty McFly. The band consists of Tom Fletcher (lead vocals, guitar, and piano), Danny Jones (lead vocals, harmonica, and guitar), Dougie Poynter (bass guitar) and Harry Judd (drums). They were signed to Island Records from their 2004 launch until December 2007, before creating their own label, Super Records. McFly rose to fame after fellow band Busted helped launch them by inviting them to tour in 2004. In 2005, they won the Brit Award for Best British Pop Act. McFly's debut album Room on the 3rd Floor debuted at number 1 in the UK Album Chart and is certified as double platinum; this led to them becoming known as the youngest band ever to have an album debut at number one—a title taken from the Beatles. A month after the album was released, the band had their first UK headlining tour

The 10 best holidays in Norfolk for 2024
G lorious sandy beaches come in spadefuls, but there’s far more to Norfolk than its spectacular coastline. Peaceful flint-brick villages, quiet backroads and leafy trails which loop around the grounds of grand estates offer lots of scope for walking, cycling and gentle touring by car.
There are also plenty of opportunities to take to the water. The small village of Morston is the well-known starting point for boat trips to see the seals which bask on Blakeney Point , but you can also take excursions to explore the harbour and creeks at Wells-next-the-Sea or charter a boat on the Broads.
But it’s not just about the great outdoors. If the weather lets you down, you can visit the region’s great houses. There’s privately-owned Holkham and Houghton, and the National Trust’s properties Blickling, Felbrigg and Oxburgh, where elegant interiors and unique exhibits rub shoulders with family activities and welcoming cafés.
Georgian market towns Holt and Burnham Market are ideal places to stock up on local produce including seafood, cheeses and honey before hunkering down in your cosy fisherman’s cottage, stylishly converted barn or roomy manor house.
For more razzamatazz, catch one of the region’s colourful carnivals, which take place in bigger seaside resorts in peak season. Or rein back and introduce the children to the simple art of “gillying” (catching crabs on baited lines, before allowing them to scuttle back into the sea).
Cosy, flint-built pubs with traditional pamment floors and wooden beams offer local ales and enticing menus, and it’s well worth making a foray inland to the region’s cathedral city of Norwich with its impressive Norman castle keep and medieval lanes.
We’ve picked out ten of the best ways to enjoy what Norfolk has to offer this summer, from a newly-opened seaside trail to a sailing on the Broads on a traditional wherry.
Get back to nature
New for 2024, Pensthorpe, a 700-acre family-friendly nature reserve near Fakenham, is offering a pop-up glamping site throughout the school summer holidays. Six bell-style tents, sleeping up to five with one double and three single beds, and 24 tent pitches have the use of solar-powered showers and toilet facilities plus the site’s café and shop.
The price includes a two-day entry ticket to the nature reserve, including its indoor and outdoor play areas for up to five guests (worth £169.50) and arrival days are Tuesday or Friday.
How to do it: Pensthorpe (01328 851465; pensthorpe.com ) offers bell tents, sleeping five, from £240 for two nights. July 9 until August 30, 2024.
Walk the walk
Extending over 33 miles, a new stretch of coast path has opened to walkers in west Norfolk. Linking Hunstanton to Sutton Bridge in Lincolnshire, and forming part of the 2,700-mile King Charles III Coast Path , it includes seven miles of new access between Snettisham and King’s Lynn.
It tracks through the Sandringham Estate and along the edge of The Wash, with its long sea views and excellent terrain for birdwatching. Base yourself in King’s Lynn with its fascinating maritime history and seventeenth-century Custom House.
How to do it: The Bank House (01553 660492; thebankhouse.co.uk ) near the quayside in Kings Lynn, offers stays from £165 B&B.
Tour a stately sculpture park
This year sees a special exhibition of sculptor Antony Gormley’s large-scale installations in the grounds and elegant rooms of Houghton Hall, one of Norfolk’s finest stately homes.
The house was built for Sir Robert Walpole, Britain’s first prime minister, and further highlights include its walled garden and permanent model-soldier exhibition. A café in the stable courtyard offering light lunches and teas. The “Time Horizon” exhibition (running until October 31, 2024) features 100 life-size sculptures, some fully visible, others partially buried.
How to do it: The Landmark Trust (01628 825925; landmarktrust.org.uk ) offers stays at Houghton West Lodge, sleeping two, from £364 for two nights.
Head out to sea
Book a voyage on Lucy Lavers, a former RNLI lifeboat through Curlew Coastal Charters, departing from the harbour at Wells-next-the-Sea .
One of the fleet used for the WWII Dunkirk evacuations in May 1940, her restoration included a new curved mahogany canopy and mast. Be sure to spot Ernest Tom Neathercoat, a lifeboat which served Wells between 1965 and 1990.
How to do it: Curlew Coastal Charters (07512 086794; curlewcoastalcharters.co.uk ) offers trips ranging from £10 per person (one-hour sightseeing tour of Wells Harbour) to £350 (a half-day private charter for up to 12 people). April to October.
Enjoy some family fun
Gone Wild festival, headed up by survival expert Bear Grylls , is launching for the first time in Norfolk this year, with four days of non-stop family activity in the grounds of Holkham Hall in August. It offers over 100 activities including circus skills, quad biking, sailing, martial arts workshops and survival skills.
Speakers include explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Triathlon world champion Helen Jenkins. Bands McFly and Scouting for Girls will perform and camping spaces are included in the festival ticket price (pre-pitched bell tents, tipis or yurts are also available).
How to do it: Gone Wild Festival ( norfolk.gonewildfestival.com ) offers a three-night family ticket (two adults and two children aged under 18 years), from £499, including a camping pass. August 8-11, 2024.
Be the king of the castle
Norwich Castle’s Norman keep reopens this summer after a massive, £15-million renovation supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. Dating from William the Conqueror’s reign and completed by Henry I in 1121, the keep has been a prominent city landmark for over 900 years.
A new Gallery of Medieval Life showcases over 1,000 artefacts including loans from the British Museum. Further highlights include audio visual projections in the Great Hall and virtual reality headsets.
How to do it: Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery (01603 495897; museums.norfolk.gov.uk ) offers admission from £7.40 (adult), £6.30 (child, four to 18 years). Note that prices may rise this summer.
Get on your bike
Quiet backroads, flower-filled villages and gently undulating terrain make for relaxed and scenic cycling itineraries. Activities specialist, Inntravel’s self-guided itinerary from Snettisham takes in some of Norfolk’s most picturesque places including Sandringham, Holkham, Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea.
Covering around 20 miles per day, prices include bike hire, helmet hire and luggage transfer with accommodation in comfortable inns and guesthouses.
How to do it: Inntravel ( inntravel.co.uk ) offers six-night “Back Lanes and Byways of North Norfolk” from £1,370 B&B including four dinners. Daily departures from April to October.
Watch the birds
Norfolk is one of the UK’s standout regions for birdlife, as well as insects and plants. Wildlife Worldwide offers expert-led tours along the coast and to inland areas including the peaty landscapes of the Broads and further west to the Brecks, a vast area of heath and wetland.
Among the best times to visit are the early summer for huge breeding colonies of gulls and terns and in the autumn months for migrating birds and waders including godwits, sandpipers, whimbrels and red knots.
How to do it: Wildlife Worldwide ( wildlifeworldwide.com ) offers three- and four-night Norfolk itineraries, from £825. Departs on June 3 and September 8, 2024, and February 7, 2025.
Take to the water
Wherry yachts traditionally carried goods across the Broads in the seventeenth-century, but these gaff-rigged cargo boats with a large single sail were converted into pleasure boats by the Edwardians and Victorians.
There are now only a handful of wherries remaining and most are maintained and operated by the Wherry Yacht Charter, a charity in Wroxham, near Norwich. Equipped with cabins, galley kitchens, toilet facilities and simple showers, they are available for day trips or overnight stays.
How to do it: Wherry Yacht Charter (01603 781475; wherryyachtcharter.org ) offers trips from £60 per person (daytrip) to £1,080 (two-day charters for up to eight people, including skipper and crew). May to September.
Go back in time
At the heart of almost every Norfolk village is an atmospheric medieval church, usually flint-built and often with wonderful features, perhaps superb stained glass, an original hammer beam roof, intricately carved misericords or an ancient stone font.
Ace Cultural Tours organises a highlights tour in the company of an expert guide from a comfortable hotel base near Norwich. Highlights include the rood screen at St Helen’s Church in Ranworth and the murals in St Andrew’s Church in Wickhampton.
How to do it: Ace Cultural Tours (01223 841055; aceculturaltours.co.uk ) offers a three-night “Churches of Norfolk: An Appointment with Angels” from £1,195. Departs on June 25 and September 3, 2024.

Now we don’t want to wish the year away, but we’re ready to say goodbye to layers and coats.
Not to mention having the heating on and paying the (extortionate) price of being warm.
Still, festival season couldn’t come around quick enough. And is there anything better than singing your heart out with your friends, and having a cheeky cider (or two) in the sun?
The answer is always no.
From festivals hidden in the countryside and Cotswolds to parties in major cities, seaside and beyond. So when it comes to getting the crew out of the Whatsapp chat, we’ve found the best festivals and where to party this summer .
Whether you’re into your rock, electronic, indie or pop music – trust us when we say there’s one that fits your music taste.
Following the recent announcements of Parklife’s lineup (hello Disclosure!), Reading & Leeds with Fred Again , and of course those Glastonbury rumours that always swirl – we can barely contain our excitement to be free, little bit muddy and loving life.
And how could we forget the masssssive news of Shania Twain playing BST with The Corrs, and KYLIE MINOGUE ! Can we get a yeeehaw?
Sure we like to kick the UK where it hurts occasionally, but no one really puts on a festival with an unmissable lineup like we do.
As for those music festivals abroad? Well at least we know to leave the wellies and waterproofs where they belong – still rotting in the binbag from last year.
For 2024, we are BLESSED with a plethora of incredible festivals happening all over the UK and Europe, with lineups to match.
We’ve listed the best of the very best below, how to get tickets, lineup that’s already been announce and anything else you need to know.

The announcement of a tour comes after the singer’s release of her new single ‘Like I Say (I Runaway)’ . The song marked the first release from the singer-songwriter since her 2022 album ‘Painless’ .
In a three-star review of her previous record , NME wrote: “Even if ‘Painless’ occasionally settles into a consistent, thudding groove at times, when Yanya goes full pelt, she’s at her very best.”
Last year saw Yanya team up with Bombay Bicycle Club on the song ‘Meditate’ from the band’s latest album ‘My Big Day’ . She was praised by NME for adding a “personable touch” to the song.
