How to Plan Gokarna Beach Trek – Whole Route Explained!

Akshay kotecha.

  • January 1, 2021

Gokarna is a True Beach Paradise in the northern part of Karnataka! It has five major beaches which have clean water, gentle waves and amazing views! These are – Gokarna Main Beach, Kudle Beach, Om Beach, Half Moon Beach and Paradise Beach. There are lush green hills in between these beaches which makes Gokarna an even more interesting place to visit. These hills not only add to the overall charm of Gokarna’s landscape, but also open us to the fun-filled Gokarna Beach Trek ! In this blog, we will explain everything that you need to know about How to Plan a Gokarna Beach Trek!

About the Gokarna Beach Trek

Gokarna Beach Trek is the fun way to go Beach Hopping in Gokarna . You may start the Trek from either Kudle Beach side or Paradise Beach side. Aim of this trek is to cover all the major beaches of Gokarna on foot by crossing the hills standing in between these beaches. These hills have a green cover for better part of the year and stand mightily against the majestic Arabian Sea.

The Gokarna Beach Trek is approximately a 10 km long trek cum hike including walking through the beaches. The whole journey would include one way ferry ride and one way trek. It can easily be done in around 5-6 hours although it depends upon how much time would you spend at all the beaches, for lunch and photo stops. Gokarna is a hot place and sun gets quite harsh during the summer months. Hence, best time to do this trek is from October to February .

How difficult is the Gokarna Beach Trek?

Gokarna Beach Trek is an easy trek for any average person with basic fitness . That is, if you are active atleast a few times a week, its going to be an easy trek for you. This is not a very arduous trek though the sun could be a little harsh. So apply sunscreen and be hydrated for a fun day! The major part of the trek involves hiking through the hills and crossing the same to arrive at the next beach. However, there is a little climbing, crossing of rocks and boulders on the way too.

Why should you do this Trek?

You may ask us why should you do the Gokarna Beach Trek but we will ask you WHY NOT ! We have done this trek multiple times and here is Why Everyone Should Do the Gokarna Beach Trek –

  • Hiking along the coast is THE BEST WAY to Xplore Gokarna and Xperience its true beauty! So ditch the idea of renting a vehicle and going to these beaches!
  • Your vehicle will not be able to take you to all the Beaches! Half Moon Beach and Paradise beach are accessible only by a hike or ferry!
  • Ferry Ride is expensive ! If you plan to visit multiple beaches, its best to do so on foot! One way ride from Om Beach to Paradise Beach will cost around Rs.300!
  • The views you get to see on this Trek are worth all the effort you put in! It is such a Rewarding Xperience in itself! If you are a lucky enough, you can Spot Dolphins from a few cliffs near the Half Moon Beach!
  • It is among the only few destinations or activities that offer hills as well as beaches together. You get to hike and you get to swim multiple times in a single day!

Gokarna Beach Trek – All Details

Gokarna Beach Trek mainly covers the four major beaches of Gokarna – Kudle Beach, Om Beach, Half Moon Beach and Paradise Beach. You may also cover the Gokarna Main Beach and Belekan Beach but these can be skipped. Before moving to details, check out the kind of Views you will get on this trek below!

a person standing on a beach of gokarna at sunset while doing the beach trek

Where to start the Trek from?

The Gokarna Beach Trek can be started from either of the extreme ends – i.e., Gokarna Main Beach or Belekan Beach. However, there isn’t really any trail in between Gokarna Main Beach and Kudle Beach. You have to take the usual road to reach at Kudle Beach and this is why Gokarna Main Beach is not a part of the Gokarna Beach Trek. So you may start the trek at Kudle Beach and start proceeding towards Paradise Beach.

The advantage that you get in this option is that you can spend more of morning time on Kudle Beach and Om Beach which are the most fun to swim at. In addition to this, the later half of the trek – after Om Beach, is mainly through the forest. This is more relieving when the sun is shining brightly. However, either ways it is not that big of a problem.

The main disadvantage of this option is that last ferry is available at around 5:30 to 6:00 pm and you really have to aware of the time to make it back to your stay unless you are staying on Paradise Beach. Another disadvantage of this option would be that there are very few ferries that drop you until Kudle Beach. Most ferries only drop you till Om Beach and incase you are late, you may still have to hike back towards Kudle Beach in the dark , which is not really safe. If you plan on catching the sunset from Labyrinth on the same day, this option is not very feasible for you.

Alternatively, you may choose to start the Gokarna Beach Trek from Belekan Beach or Paradise Beach. If you join a group tour from Bangalore or any other city, your trek will mostly start from Belekan Beach. There isn’t much sand or a long coastline at Belekan Beach, it is just a point upto which the Tour Operator can take you on the Road from the other side. If you are doing this trek without a tour operator (which is very much feasible and possible ) you can instead take a ferry to Paradise Beach and start the trek directly from there. You will just be missing out on the 1 – 1.5 km hike from Belekan Beach to Paradise Beach.

This option has two main advantages. You are not in any pressure to catch a ferry by the end of the day. If you start early enough you will have ample time to chill at every single beach and have a peaceful lunch as well. You will also be back in time for the sunset . Another advantage of this option is that early in the morning (around 10 am), when there haven’t been many ferry rides, chances of spotting Dolphins on the way to Paradise Beach are higher.

The only disadvantage of this option is that frequency of ferries from Kudle to Paradise Beach is less and you might have to trek until Kudle Beach to Om Beach in case the ferry is not available.

Hence, in our opinion, if your stay is near the Kudle Beach, you should start the Gokarna Beach Trek from Paradise Beach.

Gokarna Beach Trek Route

The trail for Gokarna Beach Trek is easily identifiable on the whole route and there are also various directions and graffiti marked on the way. The trail is also marked on Google Maps and we have also traced one for you. You can directly open it on your App by clicking here .

Paradise Beach to Half Moon Beach

Arrive at Paradise Beach, swim for a while, have a coconut and you are good to go for the trek! Paradise Beach to Half Moon beach is the one of the toughest parts of the whole trek (as compared to other parts). There is a little rock and boulder climbing in the beginning. As you go forward, the trail is gradual uphill and the views you get are amazing! On the way, you will come across two photo-stops called the Small Hell Beach and Hell Cliff . If you wish to get off the trail and visit these spots be careful of the rocks. They might be a little slippery and challenging . A little further ahead is another photo-stop pinned as Friends Beach on the Maps. There are many picturesque spots on this route and if you are lucky you may spot some dolphins as well.

group of people sitting atop a cliff near the ocean in gokarna while doing the bech trek

Half Moon Beach to Om Beach

After chilling at the Half Moon Beach for a while and refreshing yourself, you can start your journey towards the Om Beach. There’s a little bit of a climb in the beginning followed by a gradual trail through trees. This part of the trek again is a lot of fun! There is a cliff just before the Om Beach which offers a beautiful view of the whole Om Beach. You can see the Om Shape of the beach from top at this point. It is pinned as Om Beach View Point . Hence, stopping here is really worth it. A little ahead after this point is the pristine Om Beach! Spend a playful afternoon at the Om Beach – swimming, kayaking, playing beach games, clicking pictures on top of rocks, and finally by having an amazing lunch!

Om Beach to Kudle Beach

You may start your journey towards the Kudle Beach post lunch. Om Beach to Kudle Beach is the easiest of all of these hikes. There are a few steps on the left once you exit the Om Beach which lead to the next trail. If you are tired, you can even take an auto from this exit. You can take a short detour and visit Shri Umamasheshwar Temple just before the Kudle Beach. The trail on the left near the Kudle Beach steps leads to the temple. On the other hand, the steps near Kudle Beach directly take you down at the Kudle Beach. Kudle Beach is the best beach to swim at because the continental shelf is fairly shallow and waves are fun. However, be careful and don’t venture away if the sea/waves aren’t so friendly.

This marks the end of the amazing Gokarna Beach Trek.

Things to Carry for Gokarna Beach Trek

If you are visiting Gokarna for more than just the Gokarna Beach Trek, you would require a couple more things than what we are listing here. Ideally, you should not carry a lot of things on this trek since it is pretty hot in Gokarna. Things to carry for Gokarna Beach Trek would really depend upon how are you travelling and if you intend to swim or do water sports or not. Following tips and list of things should help you find what would be best for you –

  • Clothes – A pair of t-shirt and shorts would do. Anything that dries quickly and is comfortable for hike as well as swimming.
  • Footwear – People recommend trekking shoes for this trek but the trek is fairly easy to be done in sandals too. Sandals are also more convenient to take off and wear again without a lot of sand getting inside at the beach or after swimming.
  • Towel/Napkin is must unless you do not mind drying naturally under the sun. Keep a reusable plastic bag so it does not damp the things inside the bag.
  • Don’t carry more valuables than you need. Phone, camera, power bank and a little money should do – for ferry, water sports and food.
  • Water – You must carry atleast one reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. You can request and get it refilled at the shacks on the beaches.
  • You may apply sunscreen and leave but it will be washed away and ineffective after a while. Or you can also carry it and apply it after each swim.
  • Sunglasses, cap, or any other personal items.

This brings us to the end of this detailed guide to Gokarna Beach Trek! Be careful on this trek and do not wander out alone or in the dark if you are not experienced. Find local guides – ask your stay managers – if you need them. Be careful in water as well, even if you are a professional swimmer. Practice caution wherever you go.

Hey Akshay Thank you very much for the details information about the trekking, beaches and explanation of each and every part of trekking.

We will be reaching Gokarna on Afternoon of 11th Jan and planning to do trekking from Kudle to Paradise beach on 12th Jan (Our stay is near Gokarna Beach). We are 2 families with 4 kids from age 4 to 14 and hope should be able to do it without any issue (We did 3500 steps of trekking of Double Decker Bridge in Cherapunji in single day).

Being with kids, if any tips you want to give us, will be really helpful (Starting Time in morning to be back to Gokarna Beach before dark, Local Guide throughout trekking or anything else)

Once again thanks for this useful post.

Hi Arun, You should be able to do it with kids, however please take enough sun protection, water bottles for all and make them wear good footwear. Some rocky parts can be a bit slippery. You don’t need a local guide, just keep asking all the shack owners on the beaches for the way forward and they will guide you.

Stay safe and happy Xploring!

Gokarna Beach Trek – Detailed Guide & Route to Trek the Gokarna Beaches

This article contains a Gokarna beach trek guide with a detailed description of the route and a map.

Gokarna, a temple town in Karnataka, India is gradually growing into a favoured beach destination, and rightly so. Beaches in Gokarna are untouched and tranquil. Om beach is the most popular one, offering water sports and plenty of shacks. On the other hand, Belekan beach is an unheard-of beach with no one but fisherman strutting around. The best way to experience these Gokarna beaches is to hike through all of them. Take a look at this handy guide to the Gokarna beach trek.

Gokarna Beach Trek Guide

While I was staying at Zostel Gokarna , they organized the Gokarna beach trek, led by a volunteer at the hostel, and a whole bunch of us signed up for it. Our group was dropped off to the start point, which is Belekan beach, at dusk. It's ideal to leave your hotel/ hostel at 6 am in order to catch the sunrise at the beach. From there, we hiked to Paradise beach. After a quick rest at paradise, we went over to Half-moon beach. This is where we had an amazing breakfast and took a dip in the ocean, but more on that later. Next, we hiked up to the Om beach viewpoint. This is where you get to see the "Om" shape of the beach. We descended down to Om beach, relaxed, took a dip again and ended our trek at Kudle beach. All the beaches are described in detail, below.

How Long Does it Take to Complete the Gokarna Beach Trek?

given that you start at sunrise, take a break for breakfast at one of the beaches and another break for a swim, it should take anywhere between 5-7 hours depending on how long your breaks last. The group I trekked with took one big break at the half-moon beach for a swim followed by breakfast and another break at Om beach. We started at 6 in the morning and finished at 1.30-2 pm in the afternoon. The duration of the Gokarna beach trek depends on your speed and breaks.

Gokarna Beach Trek:

Without further ado, let's dive into a detailed guide to the famed 5 beach Gokarna beach trek.

1. Belekan Beach

Gokarna beach trek guide - Belekan beach

Belekan beach is the least visited one among all the Gokarna beaches. This is where you start your Gokarna 5-beach trek. Leave your accommodation at 6 am in order to catch the sunrise at Belekan. As can be seen in the picture above, there won't be another soul on the beach except for wee fisherman. Besides, this is the most beautiful beach in Gokarna, in my opinion. Spend some time here to brace yourself for the hike coming your way.

2. Paradise Beach

Gokarna beach trek guide - Paradise beach

From Belekan beach, it's an easy climb and a clearly marked trail to get to Paradise beach. Paradise beach is a popular camping spot among travellers. Here you'll find groups of people who will be packing up their tents in the morning after a dreamy night under the stars, on the beach. It's imperative to mention that due to a large number of people that set up camp here, there's also a lot of trash which is thrown on the beach which is an irresponsible thing to do. In case you decide to camp here, be mindful to take back your trash with you and not to litter along the beach.

The hike from paradise to half moon beach takes you though huge boulders which are picture perfect!

3. Half moon Beach

Gokarna beach trek guide - Half-moon beach

Among all the Gokarna beaches, I had the most fun at the half-moon beach. Irrespective of what trail you follow on your Gokarna beach trek, I highly recommend keeping this beach on your list. There are many reasons why. Firstly, the beach is uninhabited and the only people on the beach are wandering adventurers like you. Secondly, the beach shack right the beach(I didn't note the name) serves the most delicious, generous breakfast at the lowest possible rates! My group ordered our breakfast and swam around in the waters by ourselves until breakfast was prepared. Finally, we had a hearty breakfast of eggs, toast, potato and tea/coffee. Right after that we took a group picture and set out towards Om beach.

4. Om Beach

Gokarna beach trek guide - Om beach

The hike from half-moon beach to om beach is a breathtaking one. This trail will take you through cliffs with the Arabian sea just below you! Of course, you need to be a tad bit careful and maintain steady footing but the views you get are well-worth the cautiousness! Get to the om beach viewpoint, where you can see the "om" shape of the beach. It's also a great spot for clicking pictures. From there, climb down to om beach. Om beach is segregated into 2 sections. The part of the beach from where the trek to half-moon starts has hip shacks, great waves and very few people. The other half of the beach, from where you climb steps to get out of the beach, onto the road is a touristy spot. This is where water sports are conducted and there are scores of people bathing, reading books and having fun.

5. Kudle Beach

Gokarna beach trek guide - Kudle beach

Kudle beach is the last beach on the Gokarna beach trek. even though it's a tiny beach, it has plentiful shacks. After you get here, you can either have lunch at one of the beach shacks or you can head back to your accommodation to freshen up first. That's it!!! You completed the 5 beach trek!! You can spend the rest of the day chilling at the Mantra cafe at Zostel, located on the Kudle beach road. It overlooks the Gokarna beach and has really cool vibes.

Loved reading the post, especially as we were in Gokarna couple of weeks ago. We were there for some other work and hence did not have much time for the beaches. However, we did trek from Gokarna Beach to Kudle and Om Beach. The sea was rough and some of the beaches were closed. The beaches of Gokarna are always a pleasure to behold and we go back again and again.

paradise beach gokarna trek

Introduction to Gokarna beaches & Gokarna Beach trek : Gokarna is a famous tourist place which most of us will visit at least once in a lifetime, though many of us visit multiple times as we know that the adventures at Gokarna and scenic sites are never ending.

Nestled along the coastline of karnataka, lies the Gokarna city, which is well known for its beaches, historic temples and other fun activities. As you enter the city, you can feel a deep connection to nature and the city culture. There are several beaches and each beach here has its own uniqueness and charm that offers a great memory to the travelers.

The most famous beaches here are Kudle beach, Om beach, Half moon beach , Paradise beach and Gokarna beach. Let us know about each of these beaches in detail in the later part of the blog. Another interesting activity at Gokarna is the beach trek. One exciting thing about the Gokarna beach trek is that during the trek you can cover all the famous beaches of Gokarna and enjoy the best scenic views of each beach during the single trek.

Let us know more about the fun activities you can plan during your Gokarna trip, about the Gokarna beach trek and the beaches you will come across during the trek and about the other experiences you will encounter during your stay at Gokarna. Let us now start with the Gokarna beach trek and the beaches you can plan to visit from the start of the trek till the end.

Gokarna Beach Trek:

gokarna beach trek

Undoubtedly, gokarna beach trek will be in the to do list for everyone planning to visit Gokarna. The trek offers a very exciting experience for the trekkers and it is a very good opportunity for them to explore the hidden sites of Gokarna during the trek. The starting point of the trek is usually at the Kudle beach and the trek ends at the Gokarna beach; few beaches are covered on the way. You can explore other sites as well, as there will be several activities you can do at every beach you visit during the Gokarna Beach Trek. Now, let’s know more about the beaches you will come across during the trek and their significance.

The Kudle Beach:

As mentioned earlier the Kudle beach is the starting point of the Gokarna Beach Trek. It is filled with coconut palms, with its crescent shaped shoreline, giving a perfect relaxing spot for the trekkers. The trek to this beach usually starts from the main town area of Gokarna. There are several activities one can plan at the Kudle beach .

Eat in shacks: There are several cafes at the Kudle beach which offer delicious food which are decorated beautifully, even the cafes are very good at ambience and offer food at a reasonable price, you can try different sea food here as you get it fresh from the beach.

Flea market: There are many handmade stores, where the foreigners display their handmade products at the beach shore. Stuff like bird feathers, magic sticks and other beautifully hand crafted jewelry can be found at these places.

Ferry rides: You can plan a ferry ride to the Half Moon beach or the Paradise beach instead of continuing the trek by walking, even this gives an excellent experience as you can spot dolphins in the sea and other beautiful views from the sea mid. It is always better to go for a shared ferry than a private ferry.

The Om Beach:

From Kudle beach, if you continue the trek you can reach Om beach which is 6 km away. The beach has a significance as it is shaped in the form of the sacred hindu symbol “ OM”.  There are many renovating activities you can plan. You can also enjoy a leisure stroll along the beach shore and have a relaxed time. Here are a few activities that you can consider at the om beach.

Om Beach

Boat rides: There are different types of boat rides like banana boat ride, bumper boat ride and speed boating etc. It is usually for 15 mins and you’ll start this after special safety instructions. A pleasant, windy day would be a perfect day to choose these boat rides.

Fishing: You can do fishing at the Om beach, by taking a ride till the ocean. The prices of these activities are reasonable and fishing gives you a unique experience as it is a quite different way to enjoy the beauty of vastly spread beach waters.

Jet skiing: The Om beach is famous for jet skiing and you can have a memorable experience with your friends during this ride. The clear water allows you to have a wonderful experience during the sport. However clear instructions and safety suits will be given beforehand.

The Half Moon Beach:

Half Moon Beach

The trek from the Om beach to Half Moon beach is 4.9 miles far and this trek is considered a little challenging as you will come across rocky cliffs and through the towering hills. The Half Moon beach is famous for its village cottages along the shore and it got its name as it is similar to the half moon. Here are a few activities you can enjoy at the half moon beach.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Viswa Dharma Teja Madana (@viswa_vihari)

Paddle Boarding: Although it is challenging, paddle boarding is one famous activity that you will come across at the Gokarna beaches, you will find the tickets very reasonable and you can try paddle boarding at this beach if you haven’t tried yet.

Kayaking: Kayaking is recently becoming a popular sport at the Half Moon beach, especially the local kids who are more into this activity. If you are lucky enough you will find a lesser crowd during your visit. Kayaking at the half moon beach gives you an unforgettable memory due to its clear waters and greenery all around.

Sports: People who visit here prefer sports like football, cricket and volleyball as the sand is well supporting such sports. You can either plan to play with your group or in case you are on a solo trip, you can join any group as many adventure sports take place at the shores of this beach.

Paradise Beach:

Paradise beach is famous for its powdery white sands, covered by the dense forests. It is 150 meters long mostly covered with rocks. Good news is that till 2029 it was not allowed to set up tents here, but now it is allowed and visitors rent out camps to enjoy the beauty of the beach. Here are a few activities that you can plan alongside Paradise beach.

Paradise beach gokarna

Night camping: Night camping is one of the to do things at the Paradise beach. If you plan your trek by evening you can reach paradise beach at the right time to plan your night camping and stargazing. You have to get the local permission to set up your tent. The sky will be very clear and you can spend your time at the beach under the blanket of stars, which is a wonderful experience.

Swimming: The waters at the Paradise beach are fresh, cool and are suitable for swimming. You should be aware of the harsh tides you might experience now and then. You have to be cautious while going a little deep into the sea, rest all is safe and a place to enjoy your beach time.

Night trek:   Visitors usually plan night trek at the Paradise beach as it is fun and thrilling at the same time. But before planning this you have to take guidance from the locals as the place is surrounded by forest and sometimes it is not safe for night trek. In case you plan for a night camping it is a good idea to combine it with the night trek at the beach.

Belekan Beach:

Belekan beach is located on the outskirts of the city, its has excellent beach view and eye catching ambiance that leaves its visitor awe stuck. If you can visit the belekan beach between 5:30-6:30pm you can witness the suset over the horizon. The beach is famous for its shanks that are available which serve reasonable foods to the tourists. Though visiting the beach alone is not as exciting, however you can cover this beach in your gokarna beach trek. Here are few activities you can plan when you reach the belekan beach.

Belekan beach gokarna

Nature Photography: The belekan beach view is a wonderful sight and is suitable for nature photography, the whitish golden sands and clear blue waters are wonderful during the sunrise and sunsets. Tourist often use their drones to capture the beauty of the beach from far top which covers ther wonderful shore from start till end.

Dolphin sighting: In case you travel to this beach by boat , there is a very hight chances that you encounter few dolphins during your rides. Gokarna Beach Trek- The complete guide

Photo of Rohan P Unni

Welcome to Gokarna Road!!

I decided to go on a solo trip to Gokarna and tourist attractions nearby in November. I chose weekdays for travel and boarded the train (SBC - Karwar, 06585) from Yesvantpur station at around 7 pm on a Monday . The train reached Gokarna station at around 7 am. The railway station has sufficient facilities to freshen up.

Gokarna Road Railway Station

Gokarna Road Station

You will find autoricshaws outside the station. I decided to take a bus instead. The main road is at a distance of around 900m from the railway station. It is a straight way. No confusions! 😀 You will have to cross the road if you are heading towards Gokarna side. The bus stop looks like this:

Belekan Beach - Om Shanti Paradise Cafe

Catch a bus from here and you will reach Gokarna bus stand which is at a distance of around 9 km. The bus fare was Rs. 17. Solo travellers and people with light luggage better take a bus instead of an autoricshaw. I got down at Gokarna main bus stand and had my breakfast from a nearby restaurant. I had booked my dormitory for the night at a resort near Kudle beach. So my plan was to trek to Kudle and Gokarna beach and reach there by evening. You may start the trek from Kudle / Gokarna beach too and reach Paradise beach. Paradise beach is accessible only by boat or trek. In my case the trek route was :

Belekan beach-> Paradise beach -> Half moon beach-> Om beach -> Kudle beach-> Gokarna main beach

I took an autoricshaw to Belekan beach which is at a distance of around 7 km from Gokarna bus stand. The way to Belekan beach was scenic but soon the roads narrowed down.

1. Belekan beach:

I reached Belekan beach at 9 am. It is a small, calm and clean beach. The trail to paradise beach is visible beyond the rocks. You will have to cross a small stream and follow the trail. There are a few shops here. The trail to Paradise beach is well marked initially. I started the trek at around 9.15 am.

Belekan beach

Belekan to Paradise:

The area is secluded and you are all alone if you are a solo traveller. The trails are barely visible at certain areas or covered with bushes. You have to literally push aside the plants on the sides at certain locations. Certain routes are blocked and lost my way a couple of times ☹️. I was so relieved when I saw direct sunlight. Soon I found a steep, narrow downward trail. I literally sat down and climbed down. The view of Paradise beach from here was breathtaking 😍.

Paradise Beach

2.Paradise beach:

Paradise beach is an isolated beach with very few people. It is accessible via boats. When I reached there at around 9.40 am, I could see only a single shop. There were no tourists then. Soon I saw a boat dropping a family there. You can play volleyball here if you have a group with you. There are also some adventure activities and tents for camping. I spent some time(almost an hour) in the shade and relaxed. One of the local men warmed me that swimming was not allowed here.

Treacherous trail from Paradise beach

Paradise beach to Half moon beach Trek:

Started the trek at around 10.50 am. I saw some people who were coming towards paradise beach from the opposite side( starting the trek from Kudle beach). The route initially is pretty difficult to negotiate. You will have to climb over a steep rocky trail on the edge of the sea. This should be the most scary phase of this trek route. I sat down and literally crawled with my backpack. The way to half moon beach was well marked with no room for confusion. You will see some spectacular views on the way. On the way there are plenty of rocks to negotiate but these doesn't look treacherous.

Half Moon Beach

3. Half Moon Beach:

Reached the beach at around 11.15 am. Half moon beach was totally empty when I reached there. I didn't find any shops open there. But I had a chat with a local person who showed me the trail to Om beach. This beach looked just normal. Nothing much to do around here.

Half moon beach to Om beach trek( spectacular views await you😍😍) :

This route was initially through the forests but soon the trail through the edge of the cliff began. And the views were stunning. I sat down for sometime and watched the sea from the cliff with the cool refreshing breeze. It was the most amazing experience of this trek. Do not rush to finish the trek. Spend maximum time here enjoying the open sea view from the cliff.

Relax for while.. Let the breeze ease your worries

4. Om beach:

I reached Om beach at around 11.45 am. As per my perspective, this is the most beautiful beach among the ones in the trek route. You will never have enough!!

Om beach entry view

Om beach entry

The beach is long and perfect for swimming. I went to a cafe there and had my lunch, spending enough time relaxing there. The place was quiet as it was the noon time of a weekday. At around 1.15 pm, I changed to swimwear and walked into the waters. There are watch guards for your safety. The middle region of the beach has plenty of rocks extending which gives the beach the characteristic shape( 3 or Om) .There are plenty of boats here which will take you to other beaches via the sea.

Photo of Gokarna Beach Trek- The complete guide by Rohan P Unni

After spending enough time swimming, I walked to the other end of Om beach which led to Kudle beach. What I observed was that the end towards Kudle beach was comparatively more crowded( Namaste cafe is located here). There are adventure activities which are mostly active during the evenings. There is a stretch of shade where people sit, eat and relax. At the end you will find steps which will take you to the entrance road. There you will find autorickshaws and shops. You can reach Kudle beach by trekking too.

Om beach to Kudle beach trek:

From Om beach side there is a narrow route for trekkers which takes to a small flat hill top. Then the trek is mainly through an open area with some bushes. On the way you will find white markings showing the route( the directions are meant for people coming from kudle side). The trails leads to a road. Cross the road and go down through some steps and you will reach Kudle beach.

Kudle Beach

5. Kudle beach:

Reached Kudle beach at around 2.20 pm. This beach didn't look clean(atleast the entrance was a dumpyard). The beach is somewhat long with plenty of shops, resorts and restaurants facing it. There are a lot of hotels and resorts nearby( beach facing ones) . You will beach facing eateries which are active most of the time.

Photo of Kudle Beach by Rohan P Unni

Gokarna Main Beach

Kudle beach to Gokarna main beach trek route:

The route mainly comprises of the main road to Gokarna town from Kudle( around 2 km) . On the way there are lots of private properties where entry is restricted. There are sunset view points on the cliff( check whether entry is allowed). Gokarna town near the beach is packed with shops.

6. Gokarna main beach

Reached the main beach at around 3 pm after the long walk. The beach is frequented by pilgrims and touristers. The entry regions are crowded and packed with shops and vehicles. But as we walk towards the other end, it feels calm and isolated. The beach is not very clean. This was the final destination of my trek. I relaxed for some time in a waiting shed. But I didn't want to spend the sunset time here and decided to return back to my favorite Om beach.

Photo of Gokarna Main Beach by Rohan P Unni

Return to Om beach and sunset 🌅:

I hired an autoricshaw from Gokarna main beach and reached Om beach. Here I spent the rest of the evening swimming and relaxing. It was crowded in the evening. Joyous time of the day! You can choose to see sunset from Kudle/ Om/ Gokarna. I chose Om beach.

Sunset time - Om beach

The trek route is what makes your time at Gokarna special and adventurous. Otherwise there are ferries which take you around the beaches. For budget travellers trekking is the best option. Yet another way to explore Gokarna is by renting a two- wheeler. There are plenty of rentals near Gokarna town( cost varies according to the season). The weather was awesome during my stay here.

Cherish every second of your Gokarna trek! The coastal paradise is calling you! 😍😍

It was my first trek and I enjoyed alot. Co-ordinator sharanya and lavanya was too good, they made all of us comfortable with each other and take care nicely. The bus journey was also awesome we enjoyed. The one thing which I can think can improve is food quality. Except this everything was too good, and I recommend people who are looking for trekking must go one time and should enjoy nature beauty.

The trip was very well organised. The outdoor leads were in touch prior to the boarding too and made sure everyone is well looked after. The Gokarna trek was very beautiful and we got enough time to spend on each beach. The tents we stayed in were of very good quality and were just 30 meters away from the beach.Overall an amazing trek experience with nature walkers.

Mahima Lokre – October 8, 2019

It was a awesome experience. The coordinators was too good they help everyone to mingle with each other by playing game among us. It is great track who is planning to go first time for tracking. The whole journey was great and enjoyed alot.

Overall it was a good experience. This was my first beach trek experience and I enjoyed a lot. Due to unexpected weather conditions we got delayed and we missed some of the activities like bonfire, dolphin. But even missing some things we enjoyed other things to the fullest.

pranjal – February 21, 2019

I along with 5 more friends took a trip to Gokarna on new year from 31st Dec’16 – 01 Jan’17.

The trip was well organized. We trekked on the first day and covered Gokarna Beach, Paradise Beach, Half Moon Beach, Om Beach and Kudle Beach. Had beach fun at Paradise beach and spent the evening looking at sunset at Dolphin point near Om beach. These people are pros, took responsibility for our stay, food, transportation, and safety during the trip.

Our camps were at the beach and that was the best part. Had a campfire and new year celebration midnight. The last thing we did before sleep was star gazing and the first thing we did after we woke up early morning was beach walk.

Thanks for such a wonderful experience.

Gokarna Beach Trek – It gives me immense pleasure to share my experience about my first beach trek with such a big group or a rather wonderful bunch of nomads! Much appreciate the wonderful arrangements that Nature Walkers had made to make our experience an unforgettable one. The best thing about Nature Walkers is its people who are leaders in a true sense of the word – Not only they ensure people engagement but also take complete responsibility of your safety being extremely patient and stressfree at the same time and I must say it’s not a cake walk to manage a group of unknown people who come from different cultures, backgrounds and especially wavelength. Hats off to these beautiful people who don’t make you feel indifferent; rather ensure to make you part of the family! My special thanks to Hemant, Amrita, and Rahul for making my first group travel experience a truly memorable one! Looking forward to many more trips with you folks, you will always be my first choice.. and never an option 🙂

Keep up the good work, guys! You ROCK 🙂

The trip was well organized covering all the five beaches (Gokarna Beach, Paradise Beach, Half Moon Beach, Om Beach and Kudle Beach) followed by camping in tents and campfire in front of Gokarna beach.

Best Part – Evening @ Kudle Beach….watching the spectacular sunset was unforgettable. We were lucky enough to spot a rainbow too along with sunset 🙂 !!

We were a large group but thanks to the organizers @Amrita @Hemant @Rahul, even the diverse set of participants gelled up so quickly.

This was the first time with naturewalkers but now I can’t wait to go on the next trip with them.

A trip to remember! Kudos to all the organizers! You guys are amazing!

While booking the trip I thought I was just planning a weekend getaway. Turns out, this is THE weekend getaway I’ve always wanted. Everything is exciting right from the bus journey to the bio-luminescence we luckily got to experience. Trekking across rocks and hills, with the best view of the beach on your side, rain to top it up and the perfect group to experience it, is by far the best mix of all the things that would satisfy the beach lover, trek lover and rain lover in me! To sum it up, Amazing experience. 🙂

Lokesh Devnani – August 14, 2018

This trip had much more than what I could’ve hoped for. I enjoyed every bit of it. Hiking through wet rocks, with beaches and greenery on the sides, rain over our heads and a cool breeze blowing all over. Even the bus journey was memorable. Not to forget the tutting combinations we came up with during our way back. With such an amazing company, this trip turned out to be super fun.

Cheers to this happy weekend.

It was a mind blowing experience!! This trek helped me check some stuff off my checklist – ✓Beach trek ✓Monsoon trek ✓Sleeping in a tent (added advantage: at the sea shore!) ✓Campfire on the sea shore ✓✓✓The best part – BIOLUMINESCENT waves and sea!!! This was absolutely unexpected and supremely beautiful!

Speaking of the outdoor leaders, they were really friendly, understanding, very accomodating, approachable and I loved their stories of their past trekking experiences!!

I do not expect luxurious food or accomodation on a trek, and by that standard, the food and the stay was good!

Must do! Unforgettable.

If regular trekking is too main-stream for you and you want to experience the thrill of trekking with a difference, then you should add Gokarna beach trek to your bucket list of travel. Gokarna is a small temple town in Karnataka which is popular for the Mahabaleswar Shiva temple located in the main Gokarna town. The beach trek starts form here. Gokarna has several beaches and the trek route is popularly known as the “Golden Route “. The trail will entail walking on the beach sands by the side of the rocky hills on one side and far stretching Arabian Sea on the other side. The route will pass through several beaches starting with Kudle beach, then on to the more popular Om beach which is in the shape of OM and sees travellers spending longer hours. You then move on to more rocky hills trail and reach half Moon shaped beach or crescent beach. The beach hopping trail ends with Paradise beach. The walk up to the paradise beach is relatively difficult as the route is full of rocky hillocks. Gokarna located 520 kms from Bangalore, 170 kms from Panjim, is an ideal place to spend your weekends trekking on the beach and indulging in bouldering on the shores of the great Arabian Sea. The place is all the more alluring as it offers you the best of both the worlds – trekking on the coastal lines around virgin hilly slopes. The trek is beautiful yet challenging due to the precipitous weather conditions at the shore. ITINERARY:

Day 1 : Bangalore to Gokarna (Drive: 485 km | 10-11 hrs)

On arrival in Bangalore, you will meet our representative, who will transfer you to the bus stop from where you will start for an overnight journey to Gokarna. As soon as you will leave downtown and enter the countryside,  the route will keep you hooked with its natural splendour. The beautiful scenery of green pastures, sea, little hills and coconut trees will lift your spirits. Day 2 : Trek to Gokarna Beaches (Trek: 7-8 km | 8-9 hrs)

On arriving in Gokarna the next morning, settle your belongings in your pre-booked room, and have a delicious breakfast. Rest for some time before beginning the trek from Paradise Beach to Half-moon Beach, from where you will hike further on to Om beach.

Rest at the beach and marvel at the sheer beauty of the sea complimenting the hills and greenery. Have your packed lunch with some refreshing coconut water to lift up your energy and spirits. Forget your city-life and enjoy the serenity at the rock of peace on Om beach. Then, trek further to Kudle beach, which is a famous sunset spot. The beach is very secluded, so not many activities are available here. But if you are finding a perfect quiet corner to become one with nature, this place is your answer.

After spending some peaceful time here, you will head back to Main beach and to your accommodation. You will be served with scrumptious dinner, after which you can turn in for the night.

Day 3: Gokarna to Bangalore (Drive: 485 km | 10-11 hrs)

In the morning, after relishing your delicious breakfast, you will visit the Mirjan Fort, which is around 20 km away from Gokarna and was the sight for several battles in the 16th and 17th centuries.

After you have explored the fort, you will be driven back to Bangalore. The scenic route will keep a smile on your face and will make you remember your fantastic trek to the myriad beaches.

Paradise Beach Gokarna Timings

Karnataka, known for its plethora of tourist spots and pristine greenery, is blessed with one of the most beautiful beach cities in South India- Gokarna. It is home to some of the most beautiful and clean beaches you will ever come across. While it is still pretty secluded from the rest of the country, if you can make a trip to Gokarna, you will enjoy your peace of mind at Paradise Beach in Gokarna.

This land of palm trees sits in the lap of the Arabian sea and has attracted a slow trickle of tourists over the years. The pristine and crystal clear water embodies serenity, complete with the shining white sand.

#Trivia: Gokarna has an offbeat beach trek that lets you explore all the main 5 beaches in a single go- Gokarna Main Beach , Kudle Beach , Om Beach, Half Moon Beach and Paradise Beach.

Everything about Paradise Beach Gokarna

From the alluring white sands that speak the tale of an era gone by to the history of hippies, the Paradise beach in Gokarna has so much to share. Once a strong winter base for wanderers worldwide, Paradise beach became the hot spot for people selling weed. Once the weed trade caught the eye of government officials, they destroyed the shacks and banned weed trading here.

You can see the ruins of broken shacks still intact right here.

Paradise Beach is 150 meters long, out of which seventy percent is covered with rocks. The rest of the beach has a cover of whitish brown sand that is essentially dried, and powdered corals washed ashore over the years.

Paradise in the truest sense, the ripples along the shore coupled with beautiful coconut trees will leave you mesmerized and transcend you to another world.

Until 2019, setting up your tents was not allowed on the beach. However, today you have locals renting out camps, making it an absolute bliss to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the beach.

You can spend the night gazing at the stars while lying on the white sand, making your camping experience worth your while.

Paradise Beach is a great place to find some solace away from the hubbub of the city and spend some quality time with your family and friends.

#Trivia: The Paradise Beach of Gokarna is also called the Full Moon Beach.

Image Gallery of Paradise Beach Gokarna

Things to do at the paradise beach gokarna.

The beautiful sparkling white sand and the naturally carved rocks of Paradise Beach leave you with so much to do here.

Swimming : Enjoy the coolness of the water splashing against you and leave all your worries behind while taking a dip in the water. Be wary of tides now and then, restricting you from swimming further into the sea.

Kayaking : Kayaking is a newly added water sport at Paradise beach. A perfect way to explore a fragment of the expansive sea and enjoy the marine life below, enjoy this experience with your loved ones right here. You can rent a kayak from the rental shops and hire a professional to take you around.

Night camping : You can set up your camp with permission from the locals or rent one of theirs to spend your camping night. A well with clean water will allow you to cook your food and have fresh water whenever you need it. Enjoy a soothing walk on the beach at night, with soft sand touching your feet and regale in the beauty of the night sky full of stars. Truly a time to cherish with your loved ones or even by yourself.

Beach trek : Beach trekking is another exciting activity you can enjoy at Paradise beach in Gokarna. The uneven rocky patches make for a perfect light trek that you can enjoy with kids. There is nothing like exploring every inch of the beach with so much scenic beauty at every step. However, take caution that trekking towards Half Moon Beach is not recommended after sunset.

Night trek : You can opt for a night trek that will give you a chance to enjoy the gorgeous moonlit night with glittering stars above. It is best to take a local guide to help you with your fascination to explore the beach at night as they are far more aware of the area. While you can take a peek around the forest cover near the beach, it is best to explore it during the day.

Quick Tips while visiting Paradise Beach

  • Carry a few handy snacks as there aren’t too many snack joints here for a picnic in case you get hungry. Having an ID card is mandatory.
  • It has poor network connectivity, which will make the experience even better because you can spend some tranquil moments with your loved ones.
  • It is a secluded beach and you have to trek a little to come here. You can also take a ferry ride from Kudle beach at INR 500 per head and spend a few moments serenading the waves at Paradise beach.

Location of the Paradise Beach Gokarna

Paradise Beach is located in Gokarna village in Karnataka. It is around 20 mins or 5 kms from Om Beach , and the trek takes you through a cover of dense forest.

Entry fee and timings of Paradise Beach Gokarna

The beach does not have any entry fees. Paradise Beach is open 24×7, 365 days a year.

Best time to visit the Paradise beach Gokarna

Summers can bite into your skin, and the humidity levels are at their peak. Since it is a coastal area, it experiences heavy monsoon as well.

The best time to visit Gokarna is from November to February, during winters. You can not only enjoy some moments of calmness but also explore the town in every way.

#Trivia: At Gokarna, the temperature ranges from 14 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius. So, it may get slightly chilly during the night.

How to reach Paradise Beach Gokarna?

There is no direct road leading to Paradise Beach. You can either opt for a ferry or go for Gokarna beach treks.

There are frequent ferries to all the beaches, and Paradise Beach is a usual stop. You can even opt to trek from either Half Moon Beach or Belekan Beach; both treks are worth enjoying the scenery. It will take you approximately 20 to 30 minutes to trek to Paradise Beach in Gokarna from either beach.

There are several buses from Bangalore that will take you directly to Gokarna. You can also try a road trip from anywhere to reach here if you wish. It will give you a breathtaking view of the coastal region and wish you had done it before.

We often wish to travel to places that will help us forget the rush of the city and help us relax in more ways than one. Paradise beach is one of the top tourist spots of Gokarna that makes you do exactly that and more. From the lashing waves and the rocky terrain, it is a perfect getaway from your regular life. Hire a cab from top car rental companies in Gokarna or take a ferry; you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the coconut trees and palm groves in Gokarna anytime.

So, pack your bags and get ready to embark on yet another adventure waiting for you. Book a Gokarna tour package with Gokarna Tourism, a division of Holidays DNA to explore this beautiful beach destination. To know more about our packages and deals, please fill the Contact Us form.

Boating at the backwaters, short stopover at Mirjam Fort known for its architectural elegance was a bonus point, breath-takingly beautiful, last stop at the jog falls was indeed nature's blessing. Thank you team for your great efforts.

Trekking under the Moon In Gokarna

The invitation for the trek had come as a surprise but I did not think twice before responding to it in affirmative. Irrespective of whether I am  trekking in the Himalayas or trekking on railway treks , I have always enjoyed them, so saying  yes  to yet another trek was the most natural  thing to do. But that was not the only thing that had intrigued me about this particular one. The fact that the  yes  came a split second sooner than it would come otherwise was also because of the fact that this was going to be a night trek. Something which I had never experienced before.

bonfire at the Paradise Beach, Gokarna

Leaving puffs of smoke behind, our matador crawled through the narrow roads of Gokarna for what seemed to be hours, with more than twice the number of people crammed inside the vehicle than it was designed to accommodate. But no one was complaining. Instead, I even heard few of my fellow passengers sing while some others seemed lost  looking at the star-lit sky outside .Low-hanging bulbs cast a yellowish glow in-front of red-tiled houses that lined the lone meandering road on both sides, cattle resting by the houses, regurgitating, as we slowly left Gokarna behind.

The sound of graceful waves crashing on the edge of the narrow road welcomed us as we alighted the matador. On the waters there, the moon and the countless stars seemed to have come down from the sky. The water was as twinkling as the sky.

The road gave away to a trail leading to the hump that rose almost immediately. A few steps uphill under the clear sky and then we abruptly found ourselves walking under a thick foliage. The bright moon-light could no longer reach us and all that we were left in the name of  light  was the light coming from a couple of almost discharged mobile phones.

For almost the entire stretch the deep vegetation would vanish as randomly as it would come  over  us again. One moment we would be walking under a clear moon-lit sky and the next we would again be negotiating the narrow gaps between boulders and thorny bushes on our way ahead.

The forest godown right in the middle of the trail looked eerie but that was the only sign of humans we had come across since we started our walk, almost an hour back. It was all down-hill soon after the warehouse, tricky for the most part of it, but all 20 or so of us made it to the rocks of the Paradise beach.

A clear star-studded sky, sea-breeze to cool us down and the lullaby of the water wetting the beach to put us to sleep. All this by the side of this bonfire! That is how my nights at gokarna were! #gokarna #streetsofindia #streetphotography #travel #blogginglife #ttot #instagram #instapic #travelphotography #travelblogger #blogginglife #kudlebeach #ig_karnataka #karnataka #weekendfun #bonfire #paradisebeach (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); A video posted by Rajiv Verma (@hackernewbie) on Apr 6, 2016 at 10:53pm PDT

Under the moon-light and with the sounds of waves crashing against the rock, the tiny Paradise beach was totally worth the hour-long tiring walk. Lying on a rock by the bonfire we had lit-up, I found myself lost in the twinkling stars high above. I have always loved to sleep under the sky so it was a delight to sleep under a cloud-less sky. I think I also saw a faint Milky-way .

I don’t know when I drifted off to sleep but when I woke-up, all that was left in the name of a bonfire was a small pile of glowing ember. The fire was long gone.

38 thoughts on “Trekking under the Moon In Gokarna”

I have been on a night trek in Matheran few years back but it turned out to be the most scariest thing ever! I should also write about it someday!

This was not as scary but there were moments of ‘fun’ in this one too. Specially when we were crossing a section and a buffalo came out from nowhere.

Western Ghats are big, deep and beautiful. Do share the experience sometime soon Saakshi, I would love to know about it.

Cheers, Rajiv

I see u have done a lots of travelling…Where r u based out currently? Thanks for dropping by my blog

Hey Harsha!

Travelling is what keeps me going, thanks. As of now, I am based out of Bangalore.

Haven’t been on a night trek but have visited Gokarna at night 🙂 This seems like a fun thing to do. Would prefer treks in hills though 🙂

Well the access to the Paradise beach is actually through a hill. Actually more than one hill, I guess you would like it too.

But Yes, nothing like wandering in the asli hills 🙂

Night trek is too risky bhai. What’s the points? you can not see anything 😉

Haha…!! Har chiz ka apna hi maza hai ..!! Aur utni himmat to mere me thi nahi k Gokarna ki garmi me din me trek karu. Raat ko hi taar – batar they :p

WOW! Very interesting! I didn’t know that night treks are a thing. Loved reading the post and now I am thinking of finding a similar trek in the Himalayas 🙂

Night treks are a thing for sure Akanksha, specially down south where we don’t have the high Himalayas 🙁

I don’t think you have night treks in the Himalayas. Day treks are any day better waise 😉

My spiritual home…!!! Nice write up.

Thanks! You are regular there?

It was just yesterday that a friend was telling me about Gokarna. But a trek at night is not for me. I just saw Conjuring 2 and am absolutely not in a position to be anywhere at night (haha)

Haha..! I think if you are in a group… There’s nothing to be scared if but then again, I would agree that the place has an errie feel to it :-p

Hi! Absolutely amazing blog post, I’m inspired to do a solo trip now 🙂 However, I’m a little concerned about safety, because I want to camp at paradise beach overnight. I’ve heard rumours of mugging and stuff, and also the police forbidding it. Can you give me any details about the safety aspect there, keeping in mind a single girl traveller? Would you advise it? Thanks so much! 🙂

Thanks. So to be honest, I would not suggest you to camp solo at Paradise beach, be it a girl or a guy. While nothing usually happens, but if it does, there’s hardly any escape except for the jungle that separates the other side where the road is and the beach.

Otherwise, just listen to your gut feeling and enjoy your trip.

Cheers! Rajiv

Hey! A great post for a solo traveller. Thanks bud! And, could you suggest for the places in gokarna where I can pitch my tent without any hassle. However, my gut feels strong for an adventure. 😉

Hey, so I know people pitch tent at the Paradise beach which is actually a quite nice secluded place. U can try to do the same there.

Nice Post Rajiv… We are leaving for Gokarna Camping in a few weeks… Could you please tell me where can I get firewoods for bonfire? We will travel from Hyderabad via Train and then by bus and hence can’t carry firewoods all the way… Second, If we do a night trek, is there a possibility of getting lost midway or amidst the forest (Om beach to Paradise Beach road) ?

Yes there is a chance of getting lost because the trail at night is not very obvious. About firewood, your homestay / Guesthouse should be able to help you.

Thanks for your reply. I am going to carry my own tent and are not going to stay in any hotel.. That’s why asked for firewood.. By the way, is there any restriction for camping in Paradise / Half moon beach or Can I freely pitch my tent up there? If there is any restriction, can you please tell me if we require any permission?

As far as I know, there is no restriction. I have seen multiple people pitch their tents on their own.

Oh and one more thing, Can we expect stars in January in the sky of Gokarna?

Stars, yes. Have a good time.

There are several night trek spots near Bangalore. And, I once had trekked from Kumta to Gokarna. Along the coast. Wonderful that was..!

I am sure there are. Kumta to Gokarna is quite a distance!

Hi, your experience sounds so fancy! My fiancé and i are planning to pitch a tent on paradise beach next week, and I’m (although very excited) a little scared. How safe is it for just the both of us to camp there? Also, are there usually many other individual campers as well?

Hello Minu,

I would say it’s fairly safe. In fact, the whole of Gokarna is safe. I haven’t heard of any untoward incident happening there.

Not many but there are usually a few people camping almost always.

Have a great trip and do let me know about your experience once you are back!

me and my gang are planning to camp in Paradise beach for 4 days (previously we’ve been to Parvati valley, matheran etc).

please tell if there is a situation of 1) cops coming over and harassing 2) checking bags for ‘medicinal herbs’ 3) some random person forbidding you to camp there

we are up for adventure but don’t want a bad trip, if you know what i mean…

Hi Raj, I have never have heard anything about this so I guess it should be fine.

Thank you Rajiv

Have a nice trip.

Have a good trip.

Hey Rajiv, thanks for sharing your adventure. I am planning to drive to Gokarna and want to pitch my own tent. Is it possible to take my car to the campsite and then park ? In all possibility I will be traveling solo during the week ending Diwali. Thanks.

No, you cannot drive up to the camping location as it’s on the other side of a jungle/hill.

You have to hike through the hilly forest to reach the camping ground.

Beaches are quiet and peaceful, making them the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sound of the waves and the sun's warmth. Relaxing on a beach can provide you with endless benefits for both the body and mind. Having stated this it’s a common misconception that beach lovers are generally tourists, but all this is about to change.

Gokarna beach trek is a dream destination for travelers with miles of golden sand beaches, jagged cliffs, outstanding view of sunset, undiscovered coves and quaint temples. The long sandy stretches of Om Beach and Kudle Beach are a delight for every beach lover.

We arrive at Gokarna main beach at the golden hour to soak in the beauty of the Arabian sea and seemingly infinite horizon. After freshening up we reach Belekan beach from where we begin the trek. We trek route through Paradise Beach, also known as full moon beach. The beauty about this beach apart from being really clean is the surreal beauty that it holds. Since the only way to reach this beach is through trekking or hiring a boat, it instantaneously turns into a trekkie’s paradise as well.

The next beach we reach as we continue our trek is the Half Moon Beach. If you are daring person who loves to stand at the edge of a cliff or a person who likes to chill on hammocks, this is the beach for you.

As we continue our trek the sun slowly reaches out for the horizon and sunset is what we watch out for. No matter how many beautiful sunsets you’ve witnessed, Om Beach has a sunset that is truly worth craving for. If you are a foodie then Kudle Beach will tickle your taste buds with their exotic seafood menu and is quite popular with local and international tourists. As the day slowly comes to an end we finally reach the Main Beach.
