Jack Black Cancels Remainder Of Tenacious D Tour After Bandmate's Comment About Trump Shooting

J ack Black has announced he’s no longer going ahead with Tenacious D’s current tour, after bandmate Kyle Gass’ comment about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump over the weekend.

The musical comedy duo are currently on tour Down Under, paying a visit to Australia’s ICC Sydney Theatre on Saturday and Sunday.

During the pair’s second show, the School Of Rock presented Kyle with a birthday cake, imploring him to “make a wish”, to which he responded: “Don’t miss Trump next time.”

After the clip was posted online, it was met with a backlash from some critics, with Australian senator Ralph Babet going as far as calling for the group’s immediate deportation.

While the duo initially postponed their follow-up show, which had been scheduled to take place in Newcastle, Australia on Tuesday evening, Jack has since shared an Instagram post confirming that the remaining tour dates have now been pulled.

“ I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday,” the Shallow Hal actor said on Tuesday afternoon. “I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.

“After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Tenacious D had been working on a new album, which would be the first since 2018’s Post-Apocalypto, for the last few years. 

Jack previously claimed this would be released later in 2024, though it’s no longer clear whether this will be the case.

Wrexham fans outraged after star striker's 'respect' comments on USA tour

Wrexham Women have accompanied Wrexham's men's team on their Wrex Coast pre-season tour of the USA and began festivities with a red carpet event

Wrexham fans were left outraged after Wrexham Women’s star striker Rosie Hughes seemed to suggest in an interview that Wrexham locals do not “respect” the town.

The Welsh club, co-chaired by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney , are enjoying another summer of pre-season adulation in the United States following the immense success of last summer’s tour. This time Wrexham Women, who compete in the Adran Premier (the top-flight of Wales’ women’s football league), are accompanying the men’s team on their ‘Wrex Coast Tour’.

Wrexham Women are scheduled to play three friendlies against SoCal FC, Tigres Femenil (under-19s) and Portland Thorns Academy respectively as they prepare for their second season in the Adran Premier.

And to officially ring in the pre-season tour, Wrexham Women attended a red-carpet event at the hotel where the prestigious Golden Globes ceremony is held.

And while speaking to media on the red carpet, star striker Rosie Hughes seemed to suggest that the glam and beauty of Los Angeles couldn’t be replicated in Wrexham as “it would get destroyed” due to a lack of respect from locals.

“I’m living my best dream,” the 28-year-old goalscorer said when asked about the experience of being in California. “They call it the American dream. I’m 28 years old now. Twenty years ago, did I expect to even be doing football as more than a hobby? No, absolutely not. But for it now to be my part-time job, I’m a semi-professional, and four weeks ago I flew out to North Carolina. I am now stood here in LA. Like come on.

“Have you seen the amazing looking cars and the buildings and the people? It’s beautiful! It’s not like Wrexham. You know, I was walking down the street and there are these flowers, cactus. You wouldn’t see that in Wrexham because unfortunately it would get destroyed. Out here, there’s so much respect. And I’ve got a lot of respect for people who respect their country, you know?”

Wrexham fans have not taken kindly to Hughes’ insinuations that locals do not respect their town or country.

One user wrote: “This is p*** poor for someone over in America representing our town.”

Another wrote: “This is extremely poor from Rosie Hughes. She is supposed to be representing our club and town out in the US and instead she’s doing an interview saying that the people of Wrexham don’t respect what we have and we destroy things. Disgusting to hear.”

Another added: “Wrexham ****-licking Yanks at the expense of their own city was an inevitability but thought they’d at least give them Championship football first.”

Wrexham Women were put to the sword in their first pre-season friendly as SoCal FC thrashed them 9-0 on Friday night.

Hughes, who works as a prison officer at the Wrexham jail, achieved a major milestone last season for the club when she scored 100 goals for the club, seizing the haul in a staggering 46-match time frame. She managed 17 goals last season as Wrexham finished third in the Adran Premier, though the striker was unavailable for stretches of the term due to injury.

Hughes was one of many Wrexham Women players to feature in the TST 2024 last month as part of the Wrexham Red Dragons side, along with teammates Lili Jones and Delyth Morgan.

Strictly's Nadiya Bychkova denies show complaint rumours

The BBC One competition has been surrounded by controversy lately.

The dance competition has been at the centre of a string of controversies recently , with reports that another complaint has been officially filed in addition to the ones that are already known about.

In a post on Instagram, Nadiya has stated that any complaints made against the show haven't been made by her.

She wrote: "There have been lots of Strictly rumours around in the last few days and I just wanted you to know that I have not complained about the programme. "I am looking forward to the new series and can't wait for it to start. Enjoying a wonderful weekend with my family."

Strictly has been at the centre of controversy after Giovanni Pernice was confirmed to not be part of the 2024 series , while an internal investigation is underway regarding behaviour in training. Pernice "rejected any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour" in a statement shared last month.

Last weekend, Graziano Di Prima was axed from the show , following reports of alleged gross misconduct towards his 2023 celebrity partner Zara McDermott . A spokesperson for the dancer stated that Graziano "made a mistake" over a kicking incident, and stated that "the deluge of commentary, too often without context or nuance, has provoked a pile-on."

In response, Zara's spokesman said: "It’s a matter of public record that the BBC deemed the conduct to be so severe that they removed him from the show immediately.

"Zara has already confirmed in a statement released on her social media earlier this week that the reported conduct was not a singular incident."

The BBC has announced that it will implement new training and create new roles to ensure that the kind of incidents that have been discussed recently will not happen again.

"Whilst we know our shows have been positive experiences for the vast majority of those who have taken part, if issues are raised with us, or we're made aware of inappropriate behaviour, we will always take that seriously and act," the BBC's head of unscripted, Kate Phillips, said.

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Son cuatro años golpeándose, una pelea de estilos y de orgullo, un bendito combate que ha engrandecido al Tour. La memoria llevaba al Granon y a la Loze, donde Pogacar dijo hace un año: "Se acabó, estoy muerto". Qué diferencia esta vez, tan pleno él, tan herido su rival que ni pudo salir esta vez al acelerón, que no ataque, del líder.

Ocurrió a nueve kilómetros del final. Como él había anticipado, "la mejor defensa es un buen ataque", y la Grande Boucle, si es que había alguna duda, resultó sentenciada. Vingegaard, que hace tres meses estaba inmóvil en una cuneta del País Vasco, se puso a rueda de Evenepoel -bien escoltado por un Mikel Landa que seguirá peleando con Joao Almeida por el cuarto puesto- para minimizar pérdidas. Marcó al que ahora es su oponente por el segundo puesto en la general. La diferencia en meta fue de 1:42 con la pareja.

Estas cumbres de los Alpes Marítimos habían sido una de las pocas etapas que el danés pudo reconocer después de su accidente en la Itzulia, pero también es territorio Pogacar (vive en Mónaco) y el propio Evenepoel había estado concentrado dos semanas antes del Tour. Pero quizá ya ni el propio Vingegaard ni su equipo confiaban.

El Visma Lease a Bike, otrora tirano incontestable, optó por una extraña táctica que anticipaba lo que iba a ocurrir. Mandó por delante bien pronto, ya la ascensión al Col de Vars, a los dos mejores hombres que tenía, Kelderman y Matteo Jorgenson , y dejó aislado a su jefe mientras los UAE hacían la selección en el grupo. Buscando el triunfo de etapa, hicieron camino junto a Carapaz (nuevo líder de la Montaña), Hindley, Simon Yates y el español Cristian Rodríguez (sin rastro de los Movistar), atravesando el temible Bonette, la carretera más alta jamás afrontada por una gran vuelta, los 2.802 metros por los que Federico Martín Bahamontes pasó dos veces primero en los años 60.

Iba a ser el norteamericano el último en ser engullido por el ciclón de amarillo, a dos kilómetros de meta, como antes lo habían sido Carapaz y Yates, que apenas resistían 100 metros a la rueda de la locomotora. Es la 15ª victoria en el Tour de Pogacar, la cuarta en esta edición, la que sentencia su tercera corona en la mayor ciclista del mundo, el año que también ganó el Giro. Como Pantani .

Community ‘heartbroken and bereft’ after sudden end to Zara Murphy’s bright life, funeral Mass hears

Drogheda teenager collapsed during louth school girls league match last week.

A community has been left “heartbroken and bereft” following the death of Zara Murphy after a short but bright life, mourners at the teenager’s funeral Mass have heard.

The 13-year-old, from Westcourt, Drogheda, collapsed during a Louth School Girls League (LSGC) match last Thursday and was later pronounced dead. Zara is survived by her parents, Angela and Brian, and brother, Ben.

Hundreds of mourners gathered to pay their respects around 45 minutes prior to the arrival of the funeral cortege for 11.30am Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Drogheda.

A guard of honour was provided by Drogheda councillors along with children and adults from Newtown Blues FC, Glen Magic FC, Termonfeckin Celtic, members of the Irish Soccer Referees’ Society, Drogheda Boys and Girls FC and her primary school, St Oliver’s.

Zara’s wicker coffin was adorned by numerous wreaths of white lilies and football shaped flower arrangements.

Symbols of Zara’s life highlighting her love of soccer, GAA and beauty were brought to the altar by her friends including a photo, a cross and hair curling and straightening tongs, her first soccer jersey, a team picture, a trophy and a memorial stone.

Other momentos included a match ball, a captain’s hat, a shield from cup final in which Zara scored the winning goal, a St Oliver’s school hoodie, a photo of them winning the schools final and the winning medal and shield the teenager lifted as captain.

Zara’s father Brian told mourners that the family’s lives have been “turned upside down” and that “Zara loved life and lived every day to the fullest”.

“Everybody she seemed to meet loved her back, too. Zara was a strong-willed, sassy, funny and exuberant girl. She gave everything she took up 200 per cent commitment. She loved sports, especially football, soccer and gymnastics,” he said.

“She was determined she would make it at one of them, a major ambition was to be bigger and better than Katie McCabe. Zara loved her friendships, particularly, our closest ones. She was always talking to new friends. I used to find it hard to keep up, but over the last couple of days, those friendships are what has helped us through this difficult period.”

Fr Eugene Sweeney told mourners the teenager “lived her life in the present” and “was a bright and shining girl which is what the name Zara means”.

“We thank the Lord for Zara’s 13 years. She was a beautiful gift even for such a short period of time,” he said. “We come together to offer our sympathy and support to those left behind...”

He said the symbols brought to the altar were testament to “what a filled life Zara had, she was happy with so much happening with her many friends”.

“We bring today a sense of shock and devastation around the cruel passing of Zara at such a tender age last Thursday evening. We are heartbroken and bereft. We are uncomprehending that such a beautiful gift is without warning so unfairly snatched from us,” Fr Sweeney said.

Fr Sweeney concluded his eulogy by saying that Zara, who turned 13 last month, lived life in the “present moment and did not worry”.

“She was happy and she was similar to a Scarlett Anemone and blossomed beautifully. Her life was complete and full - a lively, funny, outgoing girl, full of energy, sporty and loved soccer, Gaelic and gymnastics. Beautiful tributes have been paid to Zara. She loved discussing soccer and who should have scored for Manchester United. We thank the Lord for having Zara even if it was only for a short while. We thank the Lord that Zara was so fulfilled in her life.”

He added that “Zara was a bright light for us all and she will be forever young”.

A round of applause rang out as the funeral cortege left the church ahead of Zara’s burial at Newtown Cross Lawns Cemetery on the Termonfeckin Road.
