Turkey Tours & Cruise Packages 2024, 2025

Prepare yourself for a journey to the lands of ancient treasures and Christian history. Join others in fulfilling the dream of walking where the apostles walked. Each of our Turkey tours is led by a local guide who is an expert on the historical, cultural, scenic, and spiritual history of this ancient country. Imagine walking through the lands of the Churches of Revelation with visits to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. Some packages include touring of Cappadocia, Konya, Istanbul, Troy, and Izmir (among other locations). If you’re looking to take a longer journey, and an Aegean cruise, consider continuing on to Greece on one of our Footsteps of Paul and John tours.

Below is a list of various Turkey tour packages departing year-round.

Reserve your tour at least 6 months in advance for an early booking discount, groups and parties of 6 or more click here for special rates, scheduled 2024 & 2025 turkey tours/cruises, group options, featured sites in turkey.

These are a few of the sites you can visit in Turkey, depending on the tour chosen:

Ephesus is clearly the crown jewel of the 7 Churches of Revelation . Ephesus was once a bustling port town, and you can still see the beautiful remains of that town today. During your visit to Ephesus, you can check out the library, the theater, and the ancient port. You’ll also have a chance to visit the Basilica Church of St. John. With ancient architecture and a wealth of Christian history, Ephesus is one of the most popular visits on our Turkey tours.

Smyrna — or Izmir — is another one of the 7 Churches of Revelation. As the third-largest city in Turkey, there’s a lot to do and see. While visiting Izmir, you’ll enjoy a visit to the Church of Polycarp and the ancient Agora. Izmir is normally the first city your tour will visit for many of our Turkey and Greece tour options.

Pergamum is where the first executions of Christians by Rome took place. We offer several Turkey tour packages that give you a chance to visit this ancient Greek city. During your visit to Pergamum, you’ll see the Acropolis, the Royal Gates, and the ruins of the Library of Pergamum. We’ll also take a look at the foundations of the Altar of Zeus, which was built in the 2nd century BC.

Thyatira used to be a busy trading post where wool workers, dyers, leather workers, and potters would come to sell and trade goods. This ancient city has also gone by two other names throughout its history: Pelopia and Semiramis. Thyatira may have been one of the cities the Apostle Paul visited during his second or third journey. A storied history and several Christian landmarks make Thyatira a popular destination during your Biblical tour of Turkey.

While Thyatira was home to many dyers and wool workers, Sardis is where the practice of dying wool began. While you’re in Sardis, you can visit the gymnasium and synagogue to get a better feel for the city and what it might have been like thousands of years ago. As one of the 7 Churches of Revelation, Sardis is an essential place to see during our Christian fellowship tours .

Philadelphia

After you’re finished seeing Sardis, you can take a trip to nearby Philadelphia to see the remains of this once-great city. Philadelphia was conquered by the Ottomans in 1390, so there isn’t a whole lot left to see in this ancient city. Still, Philadelphia is a revered historical Christian location because it played an important role in the Book of Revelation. Today, the ancient wall and the remains of a Byzantine basilica are all that remain.

Another ancient city that’s been reduced to ruins, Laodicea is the last of the 7 Churches of Revelation. Today, the city is home to a long stretch of ruins, giving you a look into the past of an ancient civilization. Among the ruins are the remains of an ancient stadium and an older but surprisingly sophisticated water system. The historical significance of Laodicea makes it a popular destination during our tours in Israel , Turkey, and Greece.

When is the best time to book a tour to Turkey?

You can visit Turkey or take a tour of Jordan and Israel during any time of the year — but weather is one of several factors to consider. You might want to avoid visiting Turkey during certain months when the weather is exceptionally hot or cold. For ideal weather, you should visit sometime from April -June or from September -October. If you like cooler/moderate temperatures, we recommend visiting in February-March or November. Keep in mind that Turkey — like many countries — is busier during certain parts of the year. If you want to avoid large crowds, you can book one of our Turkey tours during the offseason. No matter when you decide to book your tour, we offer tours to Turkey that fit your schedule. You can check out some of our Turkey tour packages to learn more about our tours and save money by booking your tour early.

These churches — Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea — are also called the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse or the Seven Churches of Asia. As home to early Christian civilizations, these cities played an essential role in the Book of Revelation and the early history of Christianity. Taking a Israel 10-day tour or a tour of the Seven Churches of Revelation allows you to experience Christian history firsthand.

The two floor church of St. Jean, found upon entering Gulsehir, houses a church, wine cellar, graves, water channels and living quarters on the lower floor, and a church decorated with Biblical scenes on the upper floor. According to the inscription on the apse, the church is dated to 1212 . Scenes from the life of Jesus and the Bible are in the form of friezes within the borders. Yellow and brown have been used on a black background. On the niche vault and on the sides, floral and geometrical patterns were used. On the west and south walls the Last Judgement can be found, a scene rarely depicted in Cappadocia churches.

Scenes of the St. Jean Church: Deesis on the apse, on its front the Annunciation, below that are bird designs, on the barrel vault portraits of saints in medallions, on the south wing of the vault the Last Supper, Betrayal by Judas, Baptism, below Koimesis (Falling Asleep of Mother Mary), on the north wings of the vault Descent from the Cross, Women at the Tomb, Anastasis, on the West and South walls the Last Judgement.

Cappadocia has a long history of Christianity, dating back to the early centuries AD. During a time of religious persecution, early Christians sought refuge in the region’s unique geological formations, carving out churches, monasteries, and dwellings in the soft rock. These cave churches became not only places of worship but also centers of education, community, and artistic expression.

Unique Architectural Features

Cappadocia’s cave churches are characterized by their distinctive architectural features, reflecting the ingenuity and creativity of the early Christian communities. Some common elements include:

  • Rock-Cut Facades : Many cave churches feature intricately carved facades, with decorative motifs and symbolic designs that highlight the artistic skills of their creators.

  • Frescoes and Iconography : The walls and ceilings of the cave churches are adorned with beautiful frescoes and religious iconography, depicting scenes from the Bible, saints, and early Christian symbols.

Tip-2: Private Tours are also good choice within a well-planned and custom itinerary along with a private vehicle, driver and professional guide. Great for those who don't have a car or don't know the region well.

For leisure activities we'd recommend 2 must-take attractions ! Don't miss! Wine Tasting and Photo Shooting

Biblical Readings

But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. Acts 13:14,15
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, charity, patience, persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra ; what persecutions I endured : but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 2 Timothy 3:10,11
And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus : for, behold, he prayeth, and hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. Acts 9:11,12
Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews: and Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the Scriptures, opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead ; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. Acts 17:1,2,3
And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; and from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certaindays. Acts 16:10,11,12
Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:1,2,3
Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things. And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchreae: for he had a vow. Acts 18:17,18

  • Culture577749 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Best day, solo traveller! Most amazing day! I did the overnight- no sleep- express version of Cappadocia by myself (woman). I got picked up at my hotel in Istanbul at midnight, got a flight to Cappadocia, drove around to cave hotels in the dark to pick up others for AM balloon ride. It was awesome, what an experience. Beware the landing though! After that the rest of the day was a private tour through the Goeme Valley and its ancient excavations in the rock by Huddities and monks, we could climb the rocks. Saw a beautiful pottery studio and try my hand at it, took a horseback ride with a guide in the amazing landscape, when to a leather shop and got my own private fashion show and bought a so soft lamb skin jacket, had lunch with my guide and driver at a local cafe…. What a day! The guide was amazing, and I felt totally comfortable all day. I was nervous about a day trip alone but it was great! I’m was back at the airport at about 7pm but then my flight was delayed back to Istanbul til midnight but Turco was there when I arrive to get me back to the hotel. I 100 percent recommend Turco and Kamran (my guide). It’s a long day but worth it! Read more Written 23 November 2023

I am Japanese and can barely speak English, but I could not find a Japanese-speaking guide that I could book with, so I booked this tour. The guide, Mrs. Sevde, who was with us all day was a very kind and hospitable lady. At first she asked me, "Why did you ask for an English-speaking guide if you cannot use English?" She did her best with her translation app, which she used very well. Due to the flight schedule, the tour started in the afternoon, but she took us to the main spots of Kaymaklı Yeraltı Şehri, Ortahisar, Uçhisar, and Göreme according to our request. All of them have very interesting historical backgrounds and I felt very romantic. This plan also includes visits to souvenir shops (Paint & Pottery Studios, a Turkish carpet workshop, and a Turkish stone jewelry store), which are common stops on package tours. *There were persistent sales pitches at each place, but we didn't get into any trouble when we refused, saying "I have no intention to buy. I would be disappointed if these were just souvenir shops, but I enjoyed listening to each one's demonstration and episodes of cultural background. Read more Written 22 July 2023

They canceled us as we were boarding a plane in Istanbul to fly there, said it was the windy weather. We spent the better part of the next day scrambling to find another balloon company with Viator. Low and behold we got another ride and it just happened to be through Turco Travel AGAIN. This time there was a 100 percent increase($800USD). There was pent up demand bc it was the weekend and they had officially cancelled the 3 days prior bc of weather ; so they cancelled us 12 hours in advance and resold our 3 seats to others at double the price and that is wrong! Our tour guide was passionate and shared her knowledge in a very clear and digestible way. Overall - worth the cost - give it a go! Comparison of temperatures

General note:.

Below is an information overview. The conditions of entry, as well as the political and health situation, can change anywhere in the world at any time. We therefore recommend checking before your trip. Please check the website of the Foreign Office ( www.gov.uk/ ) before your departure.

System of government:

Republic/Parliamentary Republic, head of state since 27.08.2014 President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Following an official letter submitted to the United Nations by the Republic of Türkiye, the country’s name has been officially changed to Türkiye by the UN since June 2022.

Islam with a small Christian and Jewish community.

The official language is Turkish. English is often spoken in cities and tourist resorts, as well as German and French.

Subtropical climate along the Aegean Coast and the Mediterranean Sea throughout the year with temperatures ranging from 30°C in the summer to 12–15°C in the winter.

Electricity:

The supply voltage is 220 V, 50 HZ. An adapter is necessary.

Local time:

The time zone in Türkiye is GMT +3 hours with no daylight saving time. The time difference with Turkey is plus 3 hours in winter and plus 2 hours in summer.

Making telephone calls:

The country code for Türkiye is 0090 with the zero cancelled before the area code. If you are calling the UK from Türkiye, please dial 0044 and the area code without the zero.

Country and people:

Barely any country has a history as rich as Türkiye. Today, Türkiye is a modern democracy where tourism is playing an increasingly important role. A visit to Türkiye has to include a visit to the Turkish bazaars, where you can enjoy their oriental flair. The traditional carpet, jewellery and leather goods stores are long-standing, and in some cases centuries-old elements of the culture of this region. So our trip will also include a jewellery manufacturer, a leather goods store and a modern rug gallery. Here you will learn some fascinating facts about the art of carpet weaving and experience how a hand-woven rug has been made for generations. As part of an interesting demonstration, you‘ll find out more about the preparation of silk threads, the natural dyes used for the wool and the delicate and extremely time-consuming knotting process. You will then have 1 – 2 hours in the various stores and factories to look at the works of art and products for yourself. Bartering is a typical Turkish custom. If you are not interested in buying anything, the traders will also accept a clear no. No bartering takes place in department stores and supermarkets, or at markets where local farmers sell their vegetables. In Türkiye it is customary to give tips. Similarly, to the USA, this forms part of the income for the people working in the service sector. Moreover, it symbolizes recognition for the service provided. One can tip chambermaids £1 to £2 per night. In a restaurant or taxi, tipping around 10% of the billed sum is customary. Tips are not given in shops. On group trips, the suggested sum for a tour guide, could be £2 per person per day. While for bus drivers the appropriate sum is around £1 to £2 per day per person. Of course, everyone may decide for themselves whether and how much tip they wish to give.

Entry requirements for British citizens:

British citizens do not need a visa to enter Türkiye for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period. The Turkish government advises that your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Türkiye and that there is a full blank page for the entry and exit stamps. Nationals of other countries are advised to inquire at the Turkish Embassy about the entry requirements applicable to them. Customers are reminded that it is their sole responsibility to make sure that passport and visa entry requirements for the country or countries that they are visiting are satisfied and we cannot be responsible for any problems encountered (whether at any point of entry or elsewhere) in the event that passport and visa requirements are not satisfied. Regulations in respect of passport and visa requirements for Türkiye are the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye (“MFA”) whose website is at www.mfa.gov.tr .

Tour guides:

Your expert tour guides will be able to provide you with detailed information about the country, people, history, culture, etc., and offer advice and assistance for organising your trip. They can also help with room allocation and look forward to welcoming you with initial information. Here you will find out all you need to know and useful information about the trip. We have put together a varied programme including numerous highlights, enabling you to experience the culture and diversity of landscape that the country has to offer, and learn all about Türkiye and its people.

Additional packages:

Currency/banks/credit cards:.

Since 1 January 2009, the currency is once again called the Turkish lira (TRY). Exchange rate (as of February 2024): 1 GBP = 39,43 TRY; 1 TRY = 0.03 GBP. Money can be exchanged at banks during opening hours. Another option to change currency is offered at larger hotels. Bank opening hours: Mon – Fri from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., 1.30 to 5.30 p.m. Cash can be withdrawn from cash machines using established international credit cards like Visa, Mastercard, American Express; the usage of debit cards is only possible with some machines. Credit cards are usually also accepted in the larger hotels, various shops and international car rental offices. ATTENTION: Caution is advised when paying with a bank or credit card, as criminals may be trying to copy the traveller’s bank card and obtain the relevant PIN code without being noticed to then be able to withdraw cash from cash machines with fake cards. Travellers are therefore advised to keep an eye on their bank card when paying with it and to enter their PIN number with discretion. Care should be taken when using the bank and credit cards with the PIN code in exchange offices too.

Customs regulations:

The following regulations apply for tourists: import of foreign currency is unlimited. As for exporting currency, a total amount of 5,000 US dollars or the equivalent in TRY is permitted. Travellers may import and export personal jewellery to a total value of 15,000 US dollars. Any value higher than this must be declared when entering the country. Documentation is required for purchases made in Türkiye. Otherwise, the following goods per person may by carried upon entry into Türkiye (does not apply to transit travellers): personal belongings as items for personal use, incl. medical articles (devices) and medicine as well as giftware to a value of 230 GBP (children under 15 years of age up to 110 GBP). Important: If you are travelling to Great Britain from outside the UK, your personal allowances mean you can bring in a certain amount of goods without paying tax or duty. If you go over your allowances you must declare all your goods and pay tax and duty on all the goods in that category. Please inform yourself about the current customs regulations: www.gov.uk/bringing-goods-into-uk-personal-use/arriving-in-Great-Britain

Safety information specific to Türkiye:

British citizens wishing to stay in or travel to Türkiye are generally recommended to keep an eye on the security situation, these travel and safety instructions and on reports in the media. Groups of people gathering, including on public squares and in front of tourist attractions, as well as hanging around near government and military buildings should be avoided. Following the failed violent attempted coup, there have been isolated incidents of aggressive attacks by followers of certain political parties on people with supposedly different views. We strongly recommend remaining vigilant for such escalations, distancing yourself from the situation as quickly as possible and finding a secure location.

Special criminal provisions:

The purchase, possession and export of “cultural and natural properties” is severely punished (prison sentence of up to 10 years), as these properties are regarded as state-owned assets. In case of violation, several months of custody and high bail fees (currently approx. 7,000 GBP) are common procedure for tourists, too, even if they hold antiques or old objects of supposed small value. In individual cases, prison sentences are imposed. You are therefore urgently warned not to acquire or take along antiques, old coins, fossils, etc. from retailers. It is strongly advised against making political statements in public against the Turkish state or expressing sympathy with terrorist organisations.

Medical information:

At least 8 weeks before your trip, check the latest country-specific health advice from the National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC) on the TravelHealthPro website ( https://travelhealthpro.org.uk/countries ). Each country-specific page has information on vaccine recommendations, any current health risks or outbreaks, and factsheets with information on staying healthy abroad. Caution is advised when eating uncooked food, unpasteurised milk (e.g. fresh milk, ice cream) and fruit that can not be peeled. Please avoid drinking tap water and ice cubes in drinks! Rule of thumb: do not eat anything that cannot be cooked or peeled! In Türkiye, pharmacies are found at every turn. They are recognised by their green cross and the “Eczane” inscription. The standard is high, the personnel fully trained. Especially in those regions in which tourism flourishes, English-speaking staff are the norm. Most of the medicines that require prescription in the United Kingdom, are also available in Türkiye by prescription only. The handling is somewhat more “relaxed”, though. Hospitals and a number of medical practices are found in every larger city and in the touristic regions; usually only community hospitals are based in smaller towns and villages. Make sure you have private travel health insurance. Such policies usually also offer benefits not covered by state health insurance companies, e.g. the costs of repatriation. Please note that the excursions are accessible by foot only and that the buses used for the roundtrip are not customised to transport wheelchairs or similar devices. Customers must ensure that they are in good physical and mental health in line with the trip in question. Customers must enquire about the physical mobility and psychological autonomy required for this trip.

Ziua 2: Manastirea Mevlana – Cappadocia

Mic-dejun. Veti innopta in regiunea Cappadocia.

Ziua 3: Pasabagi (Valea Calugarilor) si Zelve.

Mic-dejun.

Aceste gauri erau folosite pentru a gazdui porumbeii.

Apoi, prin muntii Taurus, vom merge inapoi in Antalya, unde vom petrece ultimele 3 nopti. Cazare peste noapte in Antalya.

Ziua 6: Antalya Cascada Karpuzkaldiran.

Mic-dejun. In timpul plimbarii in jurul orasului, aveti ocazia de a face cumparaturi, in special bijuterii si articole din piele.

Cazare in zona Antalya.
