How to Increase Font Size in Safari on iPhone and iPad

Jignesh

Gone are the days when you used the Safari feature “pinch-to-zoom” to increase the font size of a website on iPhone or iPad. With the latest features of iOS 13, Safari has got revamped! Right from managing your downloads to closing Safari tabs automatically , it just got easier to use Safari. And now, to make the text bigger on Safari is not a pinch-to-zoom game anymore!

While you can still read the content by zooming in or zooming out, you need to scroll either way as it doesn’t fit on your screen. But with the recent changes in Safari, you don’t need to scroll or zoom in to increase the font size of a website on the iPhone or iPad. Today, I am going to share a simple method through which you can make the text bigger on Safari.

How to Make Text Bigger in Safari on iPhone and iPad

Step #1. Launch Safari app on iPhone and open a website of your choice, say, for example, iGeeksBlog.com

Step #2.  On the left top corner in the address bar, tap on “aA” symbol .

Tap on aA icon to Change Font Size in Safari on iPhone

Step #3.  Now tap on the larger “A” that appears on the right side and keep tapping on it until you get the text size of your desire. It can zoom in up to 300%.

Step #4.  You can also decrease the font size of the web page by tapping on smaller “A” which is on the left side. It can zoom-out up to 50%.

That’s how simple it is to increase and decrease the font size in Safari on your iPhone and iPad running on iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 respectively.

If you do not want to repeat the same process for all the websites, you can simply specify a fix zoom percentage for all the websites you want to read regularly.

How to Set a Bigger or Smaller Text Size for All Websites in iOS 13 Safari App

You need not use the above method every time to make a text smaller or bigger in Safari. You can set a fixed zoom percentage for all the websites by just changing a few settings given below. Here you go!

Step #1.  Open Settings App and head over to Safari option.

Tap on Settings then Safari on iPhone or iPad

Step #2.  Scroll down to “ Settings for Websites ” section and tap on Page Zoom option.

Select Settings for Websites and Tap on Page Zoom in iOS 13 Safari App

Step #3.  Firstly, you’ll find a list of websites under “Page Zoom ON” which you have already zoomed-in or zoomed-out. Tap on that website to set font size.

Or head over to “Other Websites” section and tap on 50% or 100% or 200% or 300% whichever is suitable for better reading.

If you select a smaller font size, it might be difficult to read. So it’s recommended to always go above 100% font size for best reading experience in Safari on your iPhone or iPad.

Closing Thoughts!

This is so far the best feature I loved in Safari as it enhances my overall experience when I select a font size of my choice. Did you try this feature on your iPhone or iPad? If not, try it now by using the above-given guide.

How to increase the font size in Mobile Safari

By Charlie Sorrel • 1:00 pm, January 14, 2019

  • Top stories

Do you see what we did here?

The iPhone and iPad are usually great at making web pages easy to read, even when they have lots of small text. Double-tap on a column of text, and it automatically zooms to fill the screen. Double-tap it again and you’re back where you began.

But sometimes a page behaves badly. You see it often on Internet forums, or the mobile-friendly (!) version of Reddit, for example. The text is tiny, and runs from edge to edge. There’s no way to zoom in. Even if you turn your device on its side to make the screen wider, the text just reflows — the same tiny letters, but in even longer lines.

This weekend I got sick of this, and set out to find a way to increase the font size in Mobile Safari with a bookmarklet. It didn’t take long.

The Marcos Kirsch bookmarklet experience

Way back in 2012, computer engineer Marcos Kirsch got annoyed by iPad Safari’s small font size on some sites, so he created two bookmarklets to fix it. Bookmarklets are like regular bookmarks sitting up in your favorites bar, but they have special powers. They can save a webpage to Instapaper, for example, or even translate a web page, search for the current page at the internet archive, even force YouTube to show videos full-screen on the iPad .

The - and + buttons tweak font size.

Kirsch created two bookmarklets to do two things: increase and decrease the font size in Safari. All you need to do is to add them to the favorites bar above the tabs in Safari, and you can tap them as if they were native buttons. Like all bookmarklets, they run Javascript on the page to do their magic.

How to install font-size bookmarklets in iOS

The easiest way to install bookmarklets on iOS is to wake up your Mac. Then, visit Kirsch’s site and drag his two bookmarklets to your favorites bar. iCloud Safari syncing will take care of the rest.

If you prefer to do everything on your iPad or iPhone, we have a tutorial on how to install bookmarklets on iOS . The tl;dr is that you have to bookmark a page (any page will do), then go to edit that bookmark. You’ll have to replace its URL with the Javascript code, and you can put whatever you want in title. I used + and – for my titles, but you can also use emoji . Kirsch has provided the Javascript code in easy-to-copy text panels.

Pro tip: create a bookmarks bar folder

Even when using tiny name labels like + and -, these bookmarklets still take up quite a bit of space in the bookmark favorites bar. And while this function is now essential for me, I also don’t need it that often. That’s why I have added a folder to my bookmarks bar. It takes up the space of just one bookmark, but contains all the utility bookmarklets that I don’t need to use every day.

Create a folder right in your Favorites bookmark bar.

To create a folder, just open the Safari sidebar by tapping the little paperback book icon. Then tap the tab with the same icon. This shows your bookmarks. Tap Edit , then tap New Folder . Name it, and you’re done. Just add bookmarks and bookmarklets to it using the usual frustrating bookmark-editing tools. Whenever you want to use something from this folder, just tap it in the favorites bar, and the list will appear.

That’s it. Problem solved. And a big thanks to Marcos Kirsch for these great bookmarklets .

How to change text size in Safari on iPhone

Henry Burrell

There are a few stock Apple apps that we avoid, but Safari isn’t one of them. From its streamlined look to its auto ad-blocking, the Safari web browser for iPhone is one of Apple’s most polished default mobile apps.

Depending on which iPhone you have , you may find the volume or size of text on the screen is too much, too little, too big or too small. The iPhone SE is a masterclass in miniature iOS, but with a 4in display you can’t fit much text on there.

On the other hand, the ginormous tall 6.5in screen on the iPhone 11 Pro Max is poised ready to show you reams of text from websites. But because it is dependent on each website as to how large text will display, you might find that you want to change it.

To better tweak your iPhone Safari reading experience to suit you, you can adjust the text size of individual websites or for all of Safari. From there, you can then monitor and maintain those settings for all mobile sites, or for some select ones. Here’s how.

Changing the text size on Safari for iPhone

The first way is simple, so dive right in.

  • Open Safari and navigate to the desired website.
  • When it has loaded, Safari will display with an ‘aA’ icon at the top left of the display. Tap this to see a menu.
  • You can then tap the small ‘A’ to reduce text size or the large ‘A’ to increase it.

The text size will change each time to show you the changed web page. Just tap away from the menu when you’re happy with the size.

Your iPhone will cleverly remember this preferred text size for the domain you’re visiting – so in this case, our iPhone will keep macworld.co.uk at 85% every time we visit it, no matter the exact page.

This is handy if one or more of your frequently visited websites on Safari has a text size you find too big or too small on your iPhone. Adjust away.

How to change text size in Safari on iPhone: Individual sites

Changing the text size for all sites

If you’d rather change the default text size for all sites you visit using Safari, here is how.

Go to Settings > Safari > Page Zoom . Here you can see the iPhone has remembered to display macworld.co.uk at 85%.

If you change any other website text sizes within Safari itself, they will also appear here in a list.

If you want to change the text size for all other websites, effectively adjusting Safari’s default text size:

  • Tap one of the options below the ‘other websites’ tab to reduce or increase the size.

Using these tips you can adjust the text size for Safari on your iPhone without changing the text size of the entire iPhone’s operating system. If you do want to do that, read How to get bigger text on iPhone .

Webpages Look Crammed in Safari? Increase or Decrease Font Size in Safari to Make Everything Fit Better

Mobile Safari might not be the perfect browser out there but it gets the job done for millions of iPhone and iPad users on a daily basis. Things start to really get on the edge if you are using Safari on a device that has a very small display as UI elements look more crammed. But don't worry, you can fix all that by simply increasing or decreasing the font size in Safari with a few simple taps. Whether you want to squeeze everything in the display or crave better legibility, this solves a lot of problems.

Step 1. Launch Safari from your home page.

Step 2. Load up any website.

Step 3. Once the site is done loading up, tap on the little 'aA' button in the address bar.

Step 4. Tap on the smaller 'A' to decrease font size, or the larger 'A' to increase it. Tap on the percentage in the middle to go back to 100%, which is the default scaling for the website being viewed.

Increase / decrease font size in Safari

It's really that simple.

This is one Safari feature which I end up using a lot. Especially on websites which refuse to scale properly across the board, forcing you to make manual adjustments in order to make everything fit better. This feature is particularly useful when you are using an iPhone in landscape mode and need the page to look just right so you don't have to do too much scrolling just to find the bit you are looking for.

Keep one thing in mind, if you make changes to the page size and return to the website at some later date, then you will notice that your preferences are remembered. Of course, in order to reset it to 100%, tap on the 'aA' button in the address bar and tap on the percentage, which will take the scale back to default size of 100%.

HOWTO change the font size in safari on the iPad and iPhone

The ability to change font size can have an enormous impact on accessibility. Pinch and zoom is wonderful for this on iOS, but it introduces another problem. Zoom to much and you now have to scroll sideways as well as down to consume content.

There is however, a little workaround. You can increase and decrease the font size on a per site basis in Safari. This is done through a bookmark, adding two bookmarks one for increase and one for decrease. You can manually set the appropriate font size. Reloading the website will return the font to its original size.

To enable this feature follow the steps below:

  • In Safari create a new bookmark, this can be of any website as we will be editing it soon
  • Open bookmarks and tap edit and edit your new bookmark
  • Change the Title to either Increase Font or Decrease Font
  • Copy the Appropriate code from below into the link fiel
  • Click save and repeat so you have both increase and decrease font size bookmarksd

Increase Font size

Decrease font size.

Now whenever you need to adjust the font size on a website, tapping the increase or decrease font size button will adjust the font on your current website. This is a simple way to increase the accessibility of any website in Safari on the iPad or iPhone.

Troubleshooting, how to change the font of a webpage in safari on iphone & ipad.

How to Change the Font of a Webpage in Safari

Have you ever wanted to customize the font seen on a webpage? Maybe you have a preferred font that you want to see while you’re reading, or the font on a particular webpage is difficult to read? In that case, you’ll be excited to know that you can now do this on your iPhone or iPad, without having to use a third-party web browser.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the default font that’s used by Safari for displaying text, but we live in a time where users like to customize and make their devices stand out from others. Fortunately, the built-in Shortcuts app on iOS and iPadOS devices has allowed users to add some unique features to their iPhones in ways that weren’t possible before. And, this is exactly what we’ll be using to change the font of any Safari webpage.

Interested in learning what you need to do? We’re here to help. In this article, we’ll be discussing exactly how you can change the font of a webpage in Safari on both the iPhone and iPad.

Shortcuts app is pre-installed on devices running iOS 13/iPadOS 13 or later. However, if you’re device is running iOS 12, you’ll need to download it from the App Store . Once you’re done, just follow these steps:

make safari font bigger ipad

There you go. If the shortcut doesn’t work on your first attempt, reboot your iPhone or iPad and try using it again.

There are a total of nine different fonts that you can choose from. The best part about this shortcut is that it’s easily accessible from the share sheet. Hence, it feels like a feature that’s built into iOS rather than a third-party solution. Plus, since it’s available in Apple’s Shortcuts Gallery, you don’t have to install any untrusted shortcuts on your device .

Note that reloading or refreshing the webpage will load the page in its original font and not the font you selected. You’ll need to repeat the steps again if you want to view the content in your preferred font. Also, this shortcut only works with Safari, so if you’re using a third-party browser like Chrome on your iPhone or iPad, you’re out of luck.

Hopefully, you were able to get the shortcut to work properly and use it to change the text font for Safari webpages. How often do you utilize this shortcut while reading written content on the web? Do share your personal thoughts and opinions on this nifty shortcut. Also, make sure to leave your valuable feedback in the comments section down below.

I Get Automatic Notifications When Web Pages Change: Here's How and Why I Do It

Tor browser 13.5 is a last hurrah for old windows pcs and macs, 1password adds account recovery codes to curb lockout.

Having trouble reading Safari's tiny fonts on your Mac? It's easy to make all of the smallest fonts in Safari bigger by default with a quick change in Safari Preferences. Here's how.

In Safari, you may be familiar with increasing or decreasing the font size on a website-to-website basis using the Command+Plus ("+") and Command+Minus ("-") keyboard shortcuts . But if you don't want to fiddle with those settings for every site, Safari allows you to increase the minimum font size and have it apply to all the websites you visit.

This is similar to Safari's Page Zoom feature . While the zoom feature enlarges both the content and the text, the font size feature retains the original page formatting and doesn't touch the media on the page.

Related: How to Set a Default Zoom Level in Safari for Mac

To get started, open the Safari browser on your Mac. Click "Safari" in the top menu bar and choose "Preferences" from the drop-down menu.

In Safari Preferences, click the "Advanced" tab.

In the "Advanced" tab, locate the "Accessibility" section and click the check mark next to "Never Use Font Sizes Smaller Than." In the drop-down menu, choose between "14," "18," or "24" -point font sizes.

If you find the text really hard to read, go with the 24-point font size, which will double the default text size for most websites. However, for some people, the 18-point size is the sweet spot.

Instantly, you will see the text in all open websites change to a larger size.

If you change your mind later and want the smaller font sizes back, click "Safari" in the menu bar and navigate to Preferences > Advanced, and then uncheck the "Never Use Font Sizes Smaller Than" option. Alternately, you can simply select a smaller font size from the menu.

If you'd like to do the same thing on your iPhone or iPad, you can't make a blanket change that applies to all websites, but you can increase or decrease the font size on any web page in Safari in just a few taps. Happy browsing!

When viewing a web page in the Safari web browser for the Mac, the text and screen contents may be too small to see comfortably, especially if you use a small-screen laptop. In other situations, the screen contents may be too large.

Safari makes it easy to change the font size and zoom level of web pages so that you can view web pages comfortably.

These instructions apply to Safari versions 13 through 9, covering macOS Catalina through OS X El Capitan.

Change the Font Size in Safari

To make the text larger or smaller, adjust the web page's font size.

Open the Safari browser on your Mac and go to a web page.

To increase the font size, press Option + Command + + (the plus sign).

To decrease the font size, press  Option + Command + - (the minus sign).

Alternatively, to increase the font size, go to View and select Make Text Bigger .

To decrease the font size from the menu, go to View and select Make Text Smaller .

Web sites stay at the font size you set. To return everything to its original state, go to the History menu item, select Clear History , and then select Clear History again.

Changing the zoom level on a web page is a little different from changing the text size because the tool increases or decreases the size of both text and images. Here's how to change the zoom level on a web page in Safari:

Go to the View menu at the top of the screen and select Zoom In to make all content on the current web page appear bigger. Repeat to make the content even larger.

Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut  Command + + (the plus sign) to increase the zoom level.

To make the web page content display at a smaller size in Safari, select View > Zoom Out .

Or use the keyboard shortcut  Command + - (the minus sign) to make all content appear smaller.

To reset the zoom, go to View > Actual Size , or use the keyboard shortcut Command + 0 (zero). This command isn't available until you zoom in or out on the page.

Add a zoom icon to the Safari toolbar to make zooming in and out even easier. Here's how:

Go to View  and select  Customize Toolbar .

In the pop-up window, select the pair of buttons labeled  Zoom  and drag the buttons to Safari's main toolbar.

Select  Done  to exit the customization screen.

Two new buttons appear on the toolbar. Select the small letter A to zoom out, and select the larger letter A to zoom in.

Macs with a trackpad have more ways to change a web page's size. Place two fingers together on the trackpad and then spread your fingers apart to make a Safari web page bigger. Pull the two fingers back together to reduce the size of the web page.

A double-tap with two fingers on the trackpad zooms in closely on a section of the web page. A second double-tap returns the page to standard size.

Safari 18 Features: Highlights, New Reader Mode, and Video Viewer

In macOS Sequoia , Apple has some additional features in Safari 18 that are likely to be welcomed by Mac users. Here's a quick rundown of what's new.

safari highlights

Highlights can be accessed via a new site menu icon that appears in the address bar, from which you can quickly pull up relevant information about a site, such as directions, summaries, or quick links to learn more about people, music, movies, and TV shows.

As of writing this, Highlights does not appear to work outside of the United States, so it is likely to be region-specific at this early state. However, there are other changes to Safari that are live wherever you are located.

safari 18 reader

If you click the button again, a dropdown menu lets you change the theme (white, off-white, gray, black) and choose your preferred font (Athelas, Charter, Georgia, Iowan, New York, Palatino, San Fransisco, Seravek, and Times New Roman).

In this menu, you can also find text size options by percentage (from 50% to 300%), as well as a "Find..." option to find a word or phrase on a page, and a button to Hide Reader mode.

Apple says that Reader can also provide a summary of an article, along with a table of contents in a sidebar, but we could not get this to work, likely because it is an aspect of Apple Intelligence , which will not be introduced until later in the year.

safari video viewer

In other Safari-related changes, ‌macOS Sequoia‌ beta adds support for opening links directly in web apps. Now, when you click a link, that link should open in the web app instead of your default web browser. You can also now personalize web apps on Mac with Safari Web Extensions and Content Blockers.

Lastly, Safari 18 beta for iOS, iPadOS, visionOS , ‌macOS Sequoia‌ and macOS Sonoma brings inline predictive text to the web, and you can now set which Safari profile should be used to open particular websites.

People still use Safari? I tried it when i first had my Mac, but I could nto get on with it, then I tried it again a few weeks ago, but had problems with some sites not working, so I have gone back to Firefox.

Safari is still the second-most used browser. Far behind Chrome but also far ahead of Firefox. Of course, most of that is iOS/iPadOS. But even on the desktop, Safari is ahead of Firefox and Safari is not even available on Windows & Linux, unlike Firefox. So yeah... People still use FireFox? :D

No fixes to the messy interface? I have no idea where to find stuff anymore. Scattered around the share sheet, under the A button, the refresh button, the extensions menu, third party buttons, … And there are iCloud tabs, tab groups, profiles, tab group favorites, ….

PRESS RELEASE

The release introduces all-new customization options, the biggest-ever redesign of Photos, powerful updates for staying connected, and Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA  Apple today previewed iOS 18 , a major release that features more customization options, the biggest redesign ever of the Photos app, new ways for users to manage their inbox in Mail, Messages over satellite, and so much more. Users will be able to arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, customize the buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen, and quickly access more controls in Control Center. Photo libraries are automatically organized in a new single view in Photos, and helpful new collections keep favorites easily accessible. Mail simplifies the inbox by sorting email into categories using on-device intelligence, and all-new text effects come to iMessage. Powered by the same groundbreaking technology as existing iPhone satellite capabilities, users can now communicate over satellite in the Messages app when a cellular or Wi-Fi connection isn’t available. 1

iOS 18 also introduces Apple Intelligence , the personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver intelligence that’s incredibly useful and relevant. 2 Built with privacy from the ground up, Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context, to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.

“We are thrilled to introduce iOS 18. It is a huge release with incredible features, including new levels of customization and capability, a redesigned Photos app, and powerful ways to stay connected with Messages. There are so many benefits for everyone,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. “This release also marks the beginning of a tremendously exciting new era of personal intelligence with Apple Intelligence delivering intuitive, powerful, and instantly useful experiences that will transform the iPhone experience, all with privacy at the core. We can’t wait for users to experience it.”

iPhone users have new ways to customize the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center. Users can now arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, including placing them right above the dock for easy access or perfectly framing a wallpaper. App icons and widgets can take on a new look with a dark or tinted effect, and users can make them appear larger to create the experience that is perfect for them.

Control Center has been redesigned to provide easier access to many of the things users do every day, and it gets new levels of customization and flexibility. The redesign delivers quick access to new groups of a user’s most-utilized controls, such as media playback, Home controls, and connectivity, as well as the ability to easily swipe between each. Users can now add controls from supported third-party apps into Control Center to quickly unlock a vehicle or jump right into capturing content for social media — all from one place. The new controls gallery displays the full set of available options, and users can customize how the controls are laid out, including adjusting them to the ideal size and creating entirely new groups.

For the first time, users can now switch the controls at the bottom of the Lock Screen, including choosing from options available in the controls gallery or removing them entirely. With the Action button available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, users can quickly invoke controls available in the gallery.

Photos receives its biggest-ever redesign to help users easily find and relive special moments. A simplified, single view displays a familiar grid, and new collections help users browse by themes without having to organize content into albums. Plus, collections can be pinned to keep favorites easily accessible. A new carousel view presents highlights that update each day and feature favorite people, pets, places, and more. Autoplaying content throughout the app brings libraries to life, so past moments can be enjoyed while browsing. Because each user’s photo library is unique, the app is customizable, so users can organize collections, pin collections to access frequently, and include what’s most important to them in the carousel view.

iMessage receives all-new text effects that bring conversations to life by amplifying any letter, word, phrase, or emoji with dynamic, animated appearances. Users can better express tone by adding formatting like bold, underline, italics, and strikethrough. Tapbacks expand to include any emoji or sticker, and now users can compose a message and schedule to send it at a later time.

When messaging contacts who do not have an Apple device, the Messages app now supports RCS for richer media and more reliable group messaging compared to SMS and MMS.

iOS 18 introduces Messages via satellite for the times when cellular and Wi-Fi connections aren’t available. Powered by the same groundbreaking technology as existing iPhone satellite capabilities, Messages via satellite automatically prompts users to connect to their nearest satellite right from the Messages app to send and receive texts, emoji, and Tapbacks over iMessage and SMS. 3 With Dynamic Island, users always know when they are connected to a satellite. Because iMessage was built to protect user privacy, iMessages sent via satellite are end-to-end encrypted.

Later this year, Mail will introduce new ways for users to manage their inbox and stay up to date. On-device categorization organizes and sorts incoming email into Primary for personal and time-sensitive emails, Transactions for confirmations and receipts, Updates for news and social notifications, and Promotions for marketing emails and coupons. Mail also features a new digest view that pulls together all of the relevant emails from a business, allowing users to quickly scan for what’s important in the moment.

Safari, the world’s fastest browser, 4 now offers an even easier way to discover information on the web with Highlights and a redesigned Reader experience. Using machine learning, Safari can surface key information about a webpage. For example, users can review a summary to get the gist of an article; quickly see the location of a restaurant, hotel, or landmark; or listen to an artist’s track right from an article about the song or album. Reader has been redesigned to offer even more ways to enjoy articles without distraction, with a summary and table of contents included for longer articles.

Building on the foundation of Keychain, which was first introduced more than 25 years ago, the new Passwords app makes it easy for users to access their passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes. The app also includes alerts for users regarding common weaknesses, such as passwords that are easily guessed or used multiple times and those that appear in known data leaks.

iOS 18 gives users even more control with tools to manage who can see their apps, how contacts are shared, and how their iPhone connects to accessories.

Locked and hidden apps offer users peace of mind that information they want to keep private, such as app notifications and content, will not inadvertently be seen by others. Users can now lock an app; and for additional privacy, they can hide an app, moving it to a locked, hidden apps folder. When an app is locked or hidden, content like messages or emails inside the app are hidden from search, notifications, and other places across the system.

iOS 18 puts users in control by letting them choose to share only specific contacts with an app. In addition, developers now have a way to seamlessly connect third-party accessories with iPhone without letting an app see all the other devices on a user’s network, keeping a user’s devices private and making pairing seamless.

Deeply integrated into iOS 18 and built with privacy from the ground up, Apple Intelligence unlocks new ways for users to enhance their writing and communicate more effectively. With brand-new systemwide Writing Tools built into iOS 18, users can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps.

New image capabilities make communication and self-expression even more fun. With Image Playground, users can create playful images in seconds, choosing from three styles: Animation, Illustration, or Sketch. Image Playground is easy to use, built right into apps like Messages, and also available in a dedicated app.

Memories in Photos lets users create the stories they want to see just by typing a description. Apple Intelligence will pick out the best photos and videos based on the description, craft a storyline with chapters based on themes identified from the photos, and arrange them into a movie with its own narrative arc. In addition, a new Clean Up tool can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo — without accidentally altering the subject.

With the power of Apple Intelligence, Siri takes a major step forward, becoming even more natural, contextually relevant, and personal. Users can type to Siri, and switch between text and voice to communicate with Siri in whatever way feels right for the moment.

With Private Cloud Compute, Apple sets a new standard for privacy in AI, with the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing, and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers. When requests are routed to Private Cloud Compute, data is not stored or made accessible to Apple and is only used to fulfill the user’s requests, and independent experts can verify this privacy.

Additionally, access to ChatGPT is integrated into Siri and systemwide Writing Tools across Apple’s platforms, allowing users to access its expertise — as well as its image- and document-understanding capabilities — without needing to jump between tools.

Additional features in iOS 18 include:
