Starfield Eye of the Storm Jasper Kryx’s corpse in the vault on the Galbank transport Legacy

Starfield ’s “Eye of the Storm” is the penultimate Faction mission for the Crimson Fleet. In it, you’ll finally find Kryx’s Legacy that Delgado has been searching for.

There’s a pretty common bug that will prevent you from completing the mission, though. And, at the end, you’re asked to make a pretty big choice that (eventually ... kinda) affects the balance of power in the Settled Systems.

Our Starfield “Eye of the Storm” quest walkthrough will take you through each step of the faction mission, help you avoid or fix the bug, and explain which faction to side with at the end.

“Eye of the Storm” quest walkthrough

The “Eye of the Storm” mission finally brings you to Kryx’s legacy and the Legacy. The majority of the mission takes place on the ship — where you’ll just have to follow your HUD marker — but there’s some stuff to do first.

Starfield Eye of the Storm Delgado and Jazz on The Key

On The Key, you’ll speak with Delgado (and Jazz) who will help you install both the Comspike Module and the Conduction Grid Module . You got the Comspike during “The Best There Is” and the Conduction Grid during “Absolute Power.”

Starfield Eye of the Storm installing the Conduction Grid with the Ship Builder

To install the two modules, you’ll just have to place them on a weapon attachment point in the Ship Builder .

Once they’re both installed, you’ll proceed to the UC Vigilance for a quick check-in and then proceed to Bannoc IV where you’ll board the Galbank transport Legacy .

Starfield Eye of the Storm approaching the Legacy at Bannoc IV

The challenge here is to get through Bannoc IV’s storms before your ship explodes. Use your ship’s boost and steer around the asteroids.

On this ship, keep following your HUD on the way to locate a transfer module and open the vault door .

Around this point, you’ll start running into (a lot of) robots and automated turrets. Just keep following your HUD to locate the Vault Control Center and the body of Jasper Kryx.

The next objective will be to retrieve Jasper Kryx’s possessions , but before you do, it’s a good idea to make a new save. There’s a bug in the mission that takes a bit of work to get around, and a save here will make that easier. We’ll discuss the bug in more detail during the next section.

Starfield Eye of the Storm Jasper Kryx and his possessions in the vault control room on the Legacy

You’ll be prompted to listen to Kryx’s recording next. There are actually three recordings to listen to, and, to avoid triggering the bug, you’ll have to listen to each of them all the way through. There’s the GBLR013: Mortem Obire (Evidence) recording on the floor next to Jasper (one of many Burden of Proof evidence pieces to find), the GBLR011: The Waiting Game on the console in front of him, and the GBLR012: No Return recording on the console to his left.

You’ll get the reroute ship’s power objective after you listen to the first recording. Again — make sure you listen to all three recordings first . That way, you’ll have a much easier time when you go to access the Legacy’s credit reserves and you won’t get hung up when you download the Legacy’s credit reserves .

Starfield Eye of the Storm vault transferring credits

If you manage to avoid the bug, you just have to wait for the transfer process to complete , remove transfer modules and data core , and then escape the Legacy .

We’ll talk about what happens when you bring Kryx’s Legacy to the UC Vigilance or to The Key below — but first, if you do encounter the bug, here’s how to fix.

How to fix the “Eye of the Storm” bug during the listen to Kryx’s recording or wait for transfer process steps

Chances are, you’re reading this guide because of a bug that (frequently) pops up at the end of the “Eye of the Storm” mission. There are a few things you need to do both to fix the bug and avoid it happening again.

  • Load a save from before you rerouted the ship’s power and play until that objective comes back up. This is your new starting point, so make a new (quick)save here.
  • Shut down the game all the way and restart it.
  • Load the new save we just created.
  • Before you do anything else, you have to listen to each of the three recordings in the vault all the way through.
  • Once you have listened to each recording in its entirety, you should be able to follow the rest of prompts without issue.

If you exit out before you finish any of the recordings, you can always go back into your inventory’s Notes section and replay them. You don’t have to stay in the inventory screen to listen, but we recommend not looting or interacting with much else just to be safe.

Starfield Eye of the Storm bug with only part of the vault lit up

You’ll know the mission is proceeding normally if all of the lights in the various credtanks turn blue. If it gets stuck, only the first couple sections will light up and the progress on the download will freeze.

“Eye of the Storm” best choice: Who should you bring Kryx’s Legacy to?

The final grav jump you make to finish the “Eye of the Storm” mission will determine who you side with in the fight between the UC and the Crimson Fleet — and who gets all that money. More importantly, it also determines who you fight during the final faction mission, “Legacy’s End,” and who’s aggressive toward you for the rest of the game.

  • If you choose to fly to Sagan and the UC , the Crimson Fleet will remain hostile to you for the rest of the game (until you reset with a New Game+ ). You’ll lose access to The Key and the Crimson Fleet Mission Board.
  • If you choose to head to Kryx and the Crimson Fleet, the UC SecDef will be upset with you from then on, but you do not lose access to UC space — just the Vigilance and the SecDef Mission Board. You can even continue along the UC Vanguard faction missions. Your Constellation companions will be pretty upset with you, though.

Whoever you side with, you’ll walk away with a reward of 250,000 credits .

1. Star Trek Online Walkthrough overview

Image 1

Welcome to Star Trek Online, and congratulations on your first step to boldly going where no one has gone before, as long as you don't count all the other players who have started the game and regularly play for achievements.

This game can have a large learning curve when you first start out, but once that curve is surpassed the game becomes an easy, albeit long, completion. This walkthrough will show you the easiest and fastest path to getting the large majority of the achievements, and then provide several tips and tricks that will decrease the time certain daily collectible achievements will take. Don't expect to grind through this game in a few days, as even if you complete the story missions and playthroughs you'll still need to complete daily missions and assignments. The achievements in this game can be broken down into three categories:

Story/Levelling

The large majority of achievements are related to completing Story Arcs, which themselves are broken down into various amounts of episodes. There are 155 story episodes to complete across three characters. Episodes can come in various lengths, taking anywhere from 20 minutes to 40 minutes, and longer if you are reading the dialogue conversations that pop up. You can skip all dialogue by always choosing the green conversation choice, which will cut down on time spent. The only leveling requirement you will need to focus on will be related to Captain Specialization at the end of the game, as you will reach level 60 on your main character well before finishing all of the story arcs. You will also usually find yourself above the level range of what the game recommends for the story arcs, but those only require a minimum level to begin the arc.

Story levels are rather straightforward, usually being 'Go here, shoot this, go here, rescue this'. Occasionally some episodes will have puzzles to solve that can be challenging. Each story arc on the faction pages contains as few spoilers as possible for those that are following along with the story, but will have the solutions to particularly challenging or annoying puzzles listed when applicable. Mission objective areas will be highlighted by a green circle on your map, or a white circle if it's for a mission you haven't designated as 'primary' in your mission log.

Exploration

There are several achievements related to exploring different worlds you will encounter, like Risa, Nimbus, Romulus, and various Battlezones. While you can visit these worlds after reaching certain levels, these achievements are best done after completing the story. These achievements will task you with going around the planets and completing various activities in certain areas. Maps and video walkthroughs will be provided.

Daily Missions and Collectibles

These will be the achievements that take the most amount of time. Many of them have 20 hour restrictions on repeating actions, some can only start being collected at a certain level or point of the game, and datachip achievements will require several other methods used to speed up progress. The walkthrough will give quite a few tips and tricks that will greatly reduce the time to collect these achievements, as well as explanations and checklists for what to do every day or while you're traveling between missions. Because many of these unlock at different levels, the walkthrough will indicate at which point you should include a daily/collectible achievement in your routine, and direct you to the page with the explanation on what to do.

Playthroughs Required

This game only requires one main playthrough on a single character, and two other partial playthroughs. These partial playthroughs will cover story arcs that are only available to a specific faction. This guide will follow the most efficient path of progression, which requires a main playthrough of a Federation aligned Romulan, a partial playthrough of a TOS era Starfleet character, and a partial playthrough of a Klingon character. This provides the quickest method of story arc completion. Each faction page will show how far you should play the partial playthroughs and at what point you should stop. Everything is unlocked at the beginning, so you can choose which playthrough you want to start with. You can start your Romulan character and get halfway through, then take a break and do the Starfleet playthrough until it's done, then go back. As long as you reach the designated point in the walkthrough page for the faction, you'll receive all the achievements in the most efficient way.

Walkthrough Layout

The walkthrough provides a page for each faction playthrough, but also other pages explaining how the game works. The Basic Mechanics page will provide a lot of information either the game doesn't cover very well, or may be confusing. It also provides a suggested Space and Ground build to use, as well as pictures for where to put skill points. You can still choose to do whatever you like when it comes to how you play and you'll still get all the achievements, but the recommended builds will be the easiest and overall the fastest to advance. The Dailies and Checklist page will go over explanations for each aspect of the game you'll need to perform some action for daily, as well as how they work. It will also provide a good checklist you can go over for what to do when you log in once a day, as well as what to check on when you're between missions during the story. The Exploration page will cover several achievements related to exploring planets and provide picture and video guides on acquiring them. The Path to 2409 and The History of New Romulus are larger explanations on the two main daily collectible achievements, and provide lists that can be copied and pasted to keep track. Finally, the Fleets page gives an explanation on the benefits of joining a fleet, and the Reputation page covers the endgame PVE system in Star Trek. While the Reputation system doesn't have any direct achievements tied to it and is optional, it is the best way to actively gain experience towards the specialization achievement.

Estimated Time to Completion

This game has an active vs passive component to completion. You will need to actively play about 100 hours to complete all three playthroughs required and most of the exploration achievements. Many of the collectibles and progression based achievements can be done passively while you are also leveling, and they can also be done by logging in once a day (every 20 hours) and completing about 30 minutes of tasks. How long it takes after you're done with the three playthroughs is dependent on how frequently you log in once a day, and how much you do on the days you log in. The more you do on the checklist provided later on in the walkthrough each day, the faster you'll receive all the achievements and complete the game. No part in this game is really difficult with proper time management.

Online:Eye of the Storm (quest)

Quick walkthrough [ edit ], detailed walkthrough [ edit ], handling the lamias [ edit ].

Just off the northern coast of Malabal Tor is an island that can be travelled to via boat***. Just beside the small vessel you arrive in*** is Battlereeve Alduril , crouched behind a rock beside a Dominion sailor. You can talk to her to find out why she is here.

Her dialogue is surprisingly uninformative, but very basically she needs you to clear out the lamia from the beach so her fleet can gain a foothold on the beach for some vaguely explained invasion. Follow the beach north to the first big group of lamia to defeat, then head east across the shallow water to find the second. Head north from there to find the final group.

The fleet will storm the beach, following behind Alduril who stands to attention near the plant walkway further into the island. Report back to her.

She will then turn to her soldiers, giving them orders.

Having a msision, you will have to clear the way for the soldiers. Follow the ramp, defeat some mora lamias, and enter Sea Cave. The cave will also be crawling with lamias, but a little further along you can see a Dominion sailor being attacked by a Maormeri soldier.

The Sea Viper then attacks the sailor, killing them. A little further along, you can find another Sea Viper speaking to the lamia queen, Sonolia the Matriarch .

The Maormer standing around her will then walk away, taking up positions around her.

During the fight, she will summon Sea Vipers and lamia to assist her. She has a conal AoE attack that will stun and do damage, and another attack where she launches a projectile at you needs better description .

Find the Cause of the Storms [ edit ]

After the Matriarch is defeated, Battlereeve Alduril and some of her soldiers will enter the cave, the former issuing orders.

You may report back to her on your progress.

With the knowledge that the assault on the island was to pre-emptively stop the suspected Maormer invasion, you can continue onwards to lead the charge and discover the source of the storms. Exiting the caves, follow the various walkways north, deeper into the island. You will need to get past a few groups of Sea Vipers before coming across Valaran Stormcaller , who appears to be standing by a Conduit Stone. When you approach, he is thrown back by a burst of lightning.

With that, he will charge and engage you in combat.

Valaran has a few important abilities. Aside from heavy attacking, he can stun you with a bolt of lightning and summon a spectral copy of himself named the Lightning Avatar. Additionally, the Conduit Stone will occasionally generate a moving electrical field AoE. Once he is defeated, you can destroy the Conduit Stone, which will then explode in a massive burst of lightning. Battlereeve Alduril will emerge from the northern pathway, flanked by two soldiers.

You can ask her about what happened.

Weaken the Storms [ edit ]

Take the northern path and travel along another walkway, fighting a handful of Maormer as you do. Past the second group is an Ayleid ruin, nicknamed Temple of Storms. Inside, you will have to fight more Maormer. After getting past a few groups, one will call out.

Kill another group before reaching Yalorasse the Speaker . She is surrounded by various Sea Vipers, which are easily killed. When she is engaged in combat, she will give a battle cry:

During the fight, she will occasionally summon a miniature storm, leaving an AoE on the ground that deals medium damage. She will also teleport to the player and deal high damage, much like Allene Pellingare but somewhat less deadly. Her heavy attacks hit hard, and she will also occasionally use her two blades to do a whirlwind attack.

Continuing onwards, you will have to fight a bigger group of Maormer before encountering a group of mages at a Conduit Stone. They summon a gigantic Storm Atronach named Stormfist , before it immediately releases a pulse of electricity, killing all the mages.

Stormfist has many mechanics to keep an eye out for. It will occasionally summon three regular-size Storm Atronachs, as well as making a giant hand of stone from the ground and attempting to grab you, much like the Stormfist monster set . It will also stomp the ground, flinging you into the air and keeping you stunned for a while, and one that applies a snare. At around 20% health, it will begin pulsing with electricity, dealing damage if you are nearby. Information may be missing

Finally, once Stormfist is defeated, you can destroy the second Conduit Stone it was standing in front of, exploding the same way the first one did. Now you can continue up to the summit to finish the job.

Stopping the Storm [ edit ]

Entering another Ayleid ruin, this one called the Temple of Storms, you will have to fight Sea Vipers like before, but now with the addition of Storm Atronachs. A little further into the ruin is a Maormer camp, and approaching it will cause Commodore Ohmanil to leave his tent. Upon spotting you, he will order the rest of the Sea Vipers in that part of the cave to attack.

brief summary of abilities

Defeating him, you can finally reach the Summit of Storms via a ladder. After passing by or fighting various Sea Vipers and Storm Atronachs, Battlereeve Alduril will return to put down some Vipers before leading her forces onward.

You can speak with her to coordinate your next move.

She and her soldiers will then surround the stone, attempting to disable it.

Almost immediately, a bolt of lightning will strike the area, killing all the soldiers as Alduril cries out. A Maormer will appear in the lightning, and must be defeated to smash the final Conduit Stone.

Stormreeve Neidir can be a difficult fight, even for experienced players, if unfamiliar with the mechanics. Occasionally, she will create an AoE under her, and will release a wave of electricity when it reaches its full size. If caught in will most likely kill anyone who is not a tank, so you must move away from her. Immediately after this, she will tackle the furthest away player, which can once again oneshot anyone who isn't a tank. There are also small storms that bounce around the area, and will do damage and briefly set you off balance. The best strategy for dealing with her is to stay close (not too close), then run and roll dodge as soon as she starts brewing a storm. As soon as she has released the lightning, move in close to her to avoid being tackled.

Upon destroying the Conduit Stone, an explosion like the previous two will occur, and Battlereee Alduril will get up, kneeling. Speak to her.

She will then reward you with some pants, some gold, and a skill point.

Notes [ edit ]

  • If the quest is abandoned after defeating the lamias, picking it up again will take you through the dialogue before defeating them, but instead you will be able to skip directly to the next stage of the quest after speaking with Battlereeve Alduril.
  • Yalorasse the Speaker can be skipped, as she isn't necessary for the quest and if the player dies and respawns they can use the invulnerability state granted to walk past her.

Quest Stages [ edit ]

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.

After nearly 14 years the STO Academy closed its doors. It has provided information and tools to the players of Star Trek Online for as long as the game has existed. Rest assured, the fleet still exists in game for anyone who wishes to get together with other players who want to have fun playing together.

I know some of you are wondering why I decided to shut down the website. There's a number of reasons, all resulting in one realization. I haven't been able to give the website the attention it requires nor will I be able to do so in the near future.

I hope the day comes when I'll be able to bring the STO Academy website back. It was a passion of mine that I truly enjoyed building over the years.

I want to thank everyone who had a hand in shaping the STO Academy, everyone who has ever used the website, and everyone who supported me.

Live long and prosper.

Synopsis [ | ]

The player arrives at Deep Space 9 and is met by Captain Nog . Nog guides the player round to meet with the 4 major faction leaders, then other Alpha Quadrant leaders and advisers including Rom , Kira Nerys and Julian Bashir . The player proceeds to the summit meeting in the Ward Room and after greeting a few more attendees, Odo begins with his briefing.

Odo outlines that the Dominion is on the verge of collapse due to Hur'q assaults. They have one fleet remaining and need aid from the Alliance, arguing that once the Dominion falls the Hur'q will turn to the Alpha and Beta Quadrant powers. Many leaders are supportive, but J'mpok is not willing to commit the Empire to the conflict.

The summit is then interrupted by a Hur'q fleet passing through the wormhole. DS9 comes under attack again and is boarded. Most of the boarding parties are in the damaged pylon where ore processing has been taking place. The potential for a large explosion from the processing center means the player is dispatched to secure the pylon.

Nog guides the player through reactivating safety procedures in the pylon while eliminating Hur'q boarding parties. Once the player has secured the pylon they return to their ship to assist with fending off the remaining Hur'q fleet.
