We provide children and their parents with weekly groups where they can learn and explore using the outdoors as the classroom.

Wandering Willows is set in a beautiful garden landscape down Eastgate in Deeping St James, with a log cabin situated beneath a variety of large trees. The outdoor area has an array of trees and wildlife, hidden hideouts and secret dens for your children to explore. In addition to the natural landscape we have a mud kitchen and digging area, wendy house, outdoor painting easels, garden plot, play equipment, fairy garden, bug hotels, our friendly resident hens and much more.

Our ethos is to combine early years play and exploration with the outdoors and natural world. Forest Schools can often be aimed at older children and we hope to find the balance of embracing the forest school values, whilst providing an age appropriate and safe environment for younger children to free flow. We view the outdoors as the best classroom and research supports the benefits of the outdoors in our modern day, technology filled society.

What to expect at Wandering Willows

Exploring the natural environment

Wandering Willows is hidden in a private and peaceful, secret garden location. Children can find special dens and woodland passages in every direction. We have fruit and nut trees, which are popular with the birds and squirrels; as well as herbs, flowers and bushes. The floor is abundant with natural treasures; sticks, pine cones, seeds and leaves all ready to be collected by little hands.

Get knee deep in the mud area

Our large mud kitchen is equipped with pots, pans and cooking utensils which allows for children to engage in sensory and creative play in all weathers. We believe every child should have the opportunity to make mud pies and potions! It has also been proven that exposure to dirt is very beneficial to children’s immune systems – so yes, it’s actually healthy for children to get muddy!

Swing from the trees

In addition to the natural landscape we have a mud kitchen and digging area, outdoor instruments, a wendy house, water tray, sandpit, potting bench, swing, seesaw, outdoor painting easels, garden plot, play equipment, fairy garden, bug hotels and much more. Keep an eye out for the sneaky Gruffalo hiding in the woods!

Take shelter in the log cabin

Although we embrace the elements and we ensure that children are dressed appropriately for all types of British weather, we do have a cosy log cabin if you and your children are seeking a change of scenery and pace. In the cabin you will find more activities to connect children with nature and meet their play needs. Where possible, we seek to use natural and reusable materials and follow a Monstessori learning style.

Keeping dry, clean and warm

We have waterproof all in one suits available to borrow so that children can keep dry from the rain, but also to protect their clothing so they can have fun getting really messy without any worry for you parents! We do request that children wear wellies to every session, to ensure their feet are dry, clean and protected. In addition to this, we have umbrellas for all the adults – so no need to get wet as you are chasing your child around outside!

Meet our chickens!

Our extremely friendly resident hens Blossom, Fearne and Posy are at every class. They have a large and accessible coop & run, which means children can get up close if they so wish. The chickens can be fed and fussed by all!

Learning through play

Although Wandering Willows seeks to encourage children to explore the natural environment freely, there will be a number of optional and age appropriate activities set up based loosely around a theme of the week – this might include making bird feeders, scavenger hunts, seed growing, nature crowns, bug houses and much more.

Wondering what happens at Wandering Willows

Wandering Willows is an hour long session that you attend with your child. It aims to allow children the freedom and time to explore, following child led lines of enquiry. So really, the structure is what your child makes it. There are opportunities for children to carry out activities independently or with an adult if they want to. Also, adults have the chance to socialise with other parents/carers. Generally, the sessions end with a snack, bubbles and a goodbye sticker.

Pricing & Session Schedule

Wandering Willows is priced at £25 per month. This is taken by monthly direct debit 7 days after you have signed up. This direct debit can be changed or cancelled at any time through your bank. Monthly payments are adjusted to fit in the holiday and term dates . Wandering Willows closes for 6 weeks a year only. If you ever cannot make a session, you are welcome to come to a make up session any time!

Session times / ages are as follows:

Tuesdays at 9.30am Tuesdays at 11:00am Tuesdays at 2:00pm Wednesdays at 9:30am Wednesdays at 11:00am Fridays at 9:30am Fridays at 11:00am

Hi, I’m Hannah, owner of Wandering Willows! As a qualified teacher of 7 years with a specialism in the Early Years (also a parent to a 5 and 1 year old), I have a strong passion for children’s learning and development. After becoming somewhat disillusioned with the structure and confines of traditional schooling, my interest in more holistic and child centred learning led me to much research in the areas of Montessori, Forest, Steiner and Reggio teaching approaches. From this, Wandering Willows has evolved – hoping to provide young children developing through the Early Years with the chance to learn and explore using the outdoors as the primary classroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? Find out more in our FAQs section or feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

What happens if it rains?

When you work in the early years a favourite saying is ‘There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!’ This is why we can supply all in one waterproof suits for the children so they can embrace the elements and enjoy the rainy day activities. Parents are not forgotten; we supply umbrellas for adults to keep them dry too. We also have a warm sheltered cabin for inside activities.

Do sessions ever get cancelled?

If the weather is too extreme, for example, thunderstorms and high winds the class leader may assess the class unsafe to run. If this is the case you will be contacted with as much notice as possible via text and through social media. The class leader runs a risk assessment before each session as a routine.

What age groups do you cater for?

Our classes are made for children aged 1+, but siblings outside this age group are more than welcome to attend (and will certainly enjoy it!)

Is there parking available?

We have partnered with The Priory Church in Deeping St James and ask that you park there, which is a short walk away from Wandering Willows. If this car park is full, please park on the road outside the Priory Church. Please avoid parking near 11 Eastgate or in the surrounding area.

What clothing should I / my child wear?

We request that all children wear wellies or comfortable shoes for every session. The area can get muddy and in places is uneven so we feel this is the best choice in all weathers. We also recommend wearing clothes that cover the skin and that are comfortable and easy to move in – maybe not the best items in their wardrobe!

Do you provide refreshments?

Yes! Children are given a snack towards the end of the session.

Can I bring younger / older siblings?

Yes! Younger siblings under a year (until walking) are free with a paying sibling. Older siblings can be brought to a session for an additional £3 in the holidays. Please email if you wish to bring a sibling to ensure there is room at the class. We offer a ‘buy one get one half price’ offer for multiples.

Do you offer a trial session?

We did initially offer trial sessions, but it led to a number of disappointments when sessions booked up before people could actually attend their trial sessions. Now we operate a 7 day grace period where we will refund your membership if you find it’s not for you!

Are there toilet / baby change facilities?

Yes, we have a toilet, hand basin and baby change facilities on site.

Do sessions run all year round?

Find the yearly term dates here … The only other time sessions may be cancelled is due to illness or extreme weather conditions. You will be alerted in advance of the session if this is the case.

A hot air balloon is gently hovering in the sky when a seagull suddenly pierces its canvas, sending you gently crashing to the ground. You land in Wandering Willows, an island inhabited with strange (but cute) animals and a handful of fellow strandees. Your goal is to repair your balloon so you can get back in the air, but in order to accomplish that, you'll need a hand. The locals are more than willing to help, only you'll need to do a few things for them first...

Wandering Willows

Your actions are divided into a few easy categories: making objects (cooking food, planting seeds, creating clothing from patterns, crafting flower bouquets, etc.) and working with goods in your inventory and in stores. Your pet companion has several actions as well, including climbing, which allows you to nab things from trees, charming other animals, and digging to uncover items. These abilities level up with use, and you'll need to keep your pet strong to be able to reach the highest items and dig in the toughest parts of the ground.

If you're worried about keeping all of this sorted out in your head, don't worry, Wandering Willows provides you with a great tutorial to ease you into the game. A handy toolbar gives you easy access to all of your current quests, inventory items and food recipes are also easily accessible, and the mini-map lets you see who needs to talk to you and where you need to go to complete your mini-quest. The layout is perfectly conducive to a casual experience, no steep learning curve required.

Wandering Willows

Visually, as you can tell, Wandering Willows is cute-to-the-core. You can almost feel the happy fun rainbows pouring out of your monitor. The animals are adorable and rather creatively drawn, and the items have an almost whimsical look to them.

Here's the true beauty of Wandering Willows: it's extremely open-ended. At all times you feel as if you can do anything, make anything, and explore anywhere you want. A few areas aren't accessible at the beginning of the game, and you'll need to do certain things in order to unlock additional items, clothing patterns, etc., but other than that, you're not pressured by any clock, scoring system or anything. Kick back, enjoy the scenery, and do some seriously fun item collecting.

Wandering Willows is one of the freshest casual games I've played in some time. This review only touches the surface of the many things you'll uncover and experience throughout the game. It's difficult to categorize because it breaks so many genre conventions. None of that matters, though, because from the moment I started playing it, I knew I was in for a great time.

Wandering Willows Walkthrough including general tips and strategies for getting the most out of this awesome game!

General Tips and Strategies

Upgrade your bag to hold more items at the sewing store whenever you can afford it. You can also add more squares to your garden patch at the cooking store, and your speed of growing plants at the garden store. You won't need much more space than a 4x4 grid, so after that consider getting everything else before upgrading the gardens to full size.

Keeping a few of each item in your inventory can come in handy so you don't have to go collect each item anew when you get a new task. Keep a lot of thread, eggs/butter/milk, wheat, and sugar (when you get access to sugar) on your person at all times since those items will be used fairly often and in large quantities. Also try to keep as much oil, dye, glass, and iron as you can (as in don't sell em), for the same reasons.

Take as many tasks as you can at once, and you'll cut down on how many trips you need to take to collect everything you need.

When you're out gathering items, move in a circle in that area, and the trees and dirt piles you collected from will most likely regenerate before you come back to them.

Certain special quest items that only are used for that quest do not serve any other purpose, so extras can be discarded (they'll be worth only one willowbee).

Just because you unlocked the other island doesn't mean that you won't get any new quests on the first one, so check back often (use the teleport to make things easier) to see if anybody's got a new task for you.

Always keep around 5 to 10 batteries on hand since it's pretty easy to run through a lot of them.

If they like it, people will put on whatever clothes you give them. This is sometimes hilarious. Be creative. ;)

Pay attention to the special abilities of the creatures when selecting your pets. For example, some pets cause increased gem drops in the animals you charm, and some cause more egg drops. For most purposes, you want a pet who functions at medium or better for all skills (besides energy), since you'll be doing pretty much everything. Don't worry about energy too much, just keep a bunch of its favorites on hand to use whenever you need it.

Items that people or creatures like (you always want to use their favorites to save time and money) will generally be more effective if you combine them with more things. The more valuable and complicated it is to make something, the larger the effect is. The whole gains more points than the individual parts by themselves, so even just turning fruits into juice gives more points than just two fruits. Things that you find in later areas are way more valuable than things you get early on, so a pineapple will certainly get more done than an apple. Store bought things that haven't been improved have little to no effect at all.

Sometimes a new recipe requires a previous recipe you don't have yet - often these basic recipes or patterns can be bought at the store.

The majority of the recipes and patterns can only be found by digging or charming animals. On that same topic, the recipes/patterns that are given for filling up a friendship meter can only be gained from that person.

Usually when a new area is opened, your new tasks will require items found only in that area. Move on and explore if you can't find what you need.

Making collars for your pets can be helpful when you want to quickly increase a creature's skill at a particular task, like digging or climbing. The move speed ones make both you and your pet faster at getting around. Don't worry about running out of collar slots later on with your favorite creature; you can replace old collars with new ones when all the slots are full, but when you do, the old collar is discarded. You get to pick which one goes, though.

Bonuses from multiple collars of the same type will stack. That is, you can put three move speed collars on it and it'll let you rush as if you were wearing rocket skates.

If you want to plant something, and it's not shown in the current selection, you have to plant more crops in general to "unlock" the one you want. Each island has six different crop types for their patch, and you can't grow a crop from one area in the other.

On the whole money making end, gems are usually worth the most, and recipe-created foods too, although they're usually more expensive to make than sell. Try to get a bull-type creature as soon as possible to increase your gains from selling stuff. In addition to that, once you've unlocked the other island, you'll find that items exclusive to one island sell for more on the other island's shops. Supply and demand, and all that jazz.

The higher your creature's charm level is, the higher the starting skill levels of any egg you get from using that pet to charm one out of a creature. They did this because they wanted you to be able to use new creatures you get right away without having to train them up to the area you're in.

If you're not sure what of anything you're looking at, you can hover over it with the mouse and it'll let you know some quick info.

I ended up buying the game after the demo because it is SO addicting! And I am happy to report that this game doesn't end right after your one hour demo like other games I ended up buying. It's a great relaxing game and I often charm animals and climb trees while I watch tv :) I highly recommend this game, esp if you liked the demo

One of the best simulation games I've played in a long time. Reminded me of Harvest Moon but with a twist. I wish the characters were more dynamic... I wish events would happen, and I wish I had a house to decorate/ develop my own property. I would probably buy it then, but seriously, it is still a great game.

The more I play it, the more it reminds me of Pokemon.

I love it too but I wish I could see all my pets walking around in the pen. Looks like 3 is the max even if you have more nests. I also wish things would happen. It could really be beefed up and be super-fantastic.

I would get this game if it came through Big Fish Games. I am not going to plunk down 10 bucks on another site though.

[Edit: As with other Playfirst exclusives, the game will be available from Big Fish in about a month. -Jay]

In case anybody's worried about the length of the game, there is a whole other island beyond the first one, with a completely different set of ingredients to harvest. There's even a boss creature near the end, sort of.

I downloaded the try out and had to buy it at the end of the hour. I love gathering games and this one comes with cute pets and witty characters. Also the tutorials are very helpful and everything is very easy to understand. Awesome stuff. Hope they keep making more games like this.

Sign me up for the "played it for one hour, then HAD to buy it" fan group.

This really is an amazing game, right up there with Escape from Paradise. And like John said, there is PLENTY to do. I'd say it takes at least 2 days of full playing time (not including nights) to complete it.

One thing I've been wondering though, is if the Biologist badge requires just one pet of each type, so the same animal but with different colours is one type, or if you need one of each species (the animals are of the same type, gorilla for instance, but you need to get one of each colour scheme, i.e. species).

Nevermind, through the magic of Google I found the answer. It turns out that you do need one of each species (i.e. each colour scheme means a different species), and including the one you get at the beginning, there is a total of 41 pets.

This also brings up another reason why I had to buy this game. Even though it can be completed in 2 days, there are still so many things to do for a completist like myself, which adds to the value of the game tenfold.

Patreon Crew

I just beat the main game. Completing sidequests is what I live for, and now that they're all done with... I have trouble finding the motive to continue playing.

...I don't know about the ending, though. It's so predictable I feel justified not putting it in a spoiler tag... and new friends or not, I wouldn't have minded being the one person to decide to leave Wandering Willows.

Yeah, after I got the full game, I played for about 9 hours and thought, "what a long game!" Not your usual casual game! Aside from spelling/grammar errors and how I wish the stable window was bigger or a little less... clunkier? More organized? Well, anyway. Aside from that, what an impressive game! I'm not sure how to describe it. Harvest Moon? No. Animal Crossing? Maybe! It kind of feels like an MMO if MMOs were single player and not terrible!

NEEDS MOAR SEQUEL.

Q: can the garden be made bigger?? 4 little square is a bit annoying.

I haven't been this hooked on a game since Totem Tribe -- and the best part is that I'm not battling that fear of doing a ton of work, only to lose the battle and having to do everything over again. A sweetly refreshing game... that I can't pull myself out of! Argh! More coffee, please?

Anyolina: The garden can indeed be made bigger. Buy additional garden plots one at a time in the general store. If you spend enough money, you can eventually fill that entire 4x4 dirt area with fertile soil.

This is such a great game, i had to buy it. I stayed up the entire night playing and had to call in sick to work the next day.

Collecting all animals, recipes and patterns can be pretty painful, as you have to keep playing for a long time after the quests and the fun exploration is over. But I've found a XML inside the folder of the game (strings.xml), containing a list of all these items! Woot! That might help us at least a bit. Anyway, here's a partial transcription containing only the Pets list, since they're the only ones you need to keep track in order to collect/hatch only the ones you don't have.

fatbird(4):

horndog(4):

kangalope(4):

monster(4):

penguin(4):

rhinohippo(5):

Kababa's pet (class "monster") won't lay eggs, so it's not on the list.

Doobear (class "doobear") never showed up in-game, so I guess it was just a testing monster.

Recipes and patterns will pop up only if you still don't have them, so it suffice to know how many there are:

229 food recipes,

35 bouquet/vases recipes,

37 collar recipes,

157 patterns.

I would like to note that there are 4 more pets that aren't in Stefano's note...for lack of what else to call them I'll just use Wolf/fox I guess haha.

Cowlie Joopie Murfee Roopa

You're right Chelle8806. I forgot those! They're called "raccoon" in the aforementioned XML, although I agree Wolf/Fox is a lot more appropriate. :D

I don't usually enjoy the commercial games posted on JIG, but I did love this one, I must say. Clever humor, simple enough game mechanics and although the item combining and quests were obviously repetitions of the same mechanism, they felt very different and diverse for some reason.

The whole experience seemed like a mixture of Amaranth's Grimm's Hatchery (eggs, funny animal collecting), Pokémon (as pointed by JohnB) and the 80's cartoon The Wuzzles (mixed animals!)

Actually, two of those pets I haven't seen around and they are both supposed to be on the grasslands isle.

the Chacha and the Murfee

I love, love, love this game. It reminds me of Harvest Moon.

I should be writing papers and studying for exams but instead I keep taking "breaks" to play.

Hi!!i have a problem finding the fixed router!!!I don't know what to do!!Can anybody help?

@Anna - fixed router

You have to give Nico Garcia.two gold - then he will give it back to you and you can bring it back Captain Whittaker

Greetings, Kayleigh

Wow! Thank you so much for all this information, Stefano and Pam.

Although, at another forum, they say that there should be 41 collar patterns.

Murfee does appear to be rather elusive, but I have come across him a couple of times, so he is there. Just keep doing all the other stuff in the game, and eventually you'll see him.

Pam, there is still one recipe you haven't gotten.

Black Cherry Danish=2 Black Cherry, 2 Wheat, 2 Butter, 1 Honey

Thanks ThemePark! I added it to the list.

This game takes after animal crossing. Offers really good value because it is very long. Hope it's successful enough to warrant a sequel.

Anyone know who is the developer? What other games have they made?

So my question is, does anyone know of SIMILAR games (for Mac)? I am nuts for this game (though it has a Mac bug at the point you have to fix broken router unfortunately) and desperately would like recommendations for similar games. Any and all suggestions welcome! It's the gathering, recipe making, stuff making parts I like most, fyi, if that helps. Thanks! Let me know....

Q: I cannot find the paint recipe!! I have spoken to the professor who asked me to make him a broom, gave me the "recipe" for the broom, which includes paint. When I try to "make" paint, it tells me I can't because I don't have that "recipe"!! I cannot move forward in the game now and am getting quite annoyed. I know to make paint you need oil and dye. I have tons of dye. Have yet to dig up any oil and I've been digging everywhere for a while now. I don't think I'll find oil until I get the paint recipe. Can anyone HELP??

Help! I'm on the "heating element" part and have done all the tasks down to making the pink ninja outfit. BUT, somehow it skipped JJ asking for the orchid bouquet so now I have no tasks and I'm wandering aimlessly looking for the "recipe" for the orchid bouquet. I'm guessing that's why he didn't ask for it, because I didn't have the recipe. How can I get that darn recipe? I've been playing for hours charming critters and digging stuff up trying to get it and I can't come across it! Am I missing something or do I just have to keep wandering?

Could anyone tell me where I can find Torzil?

Also, could anyone tell me where I can find Small Megacharm Chance Boost? Grassland or Tropics? Thanks!

@ jsttoomuch : have you upgraded your watering can to the max? Once you have enough watering can capacity, new flower arrangements become available. Hope this helps!

Otherwise, for the collars, I already have 41 but do not have the associated medal... so probably there are even more! :s

This is an awesome game, I too would love recommendations for other games like this!

I found a Small Megacharm Chance Boost recipe in the Grassland area. I can't remember if I got it from an animal or if I dug it up, though. :)

(This is as much a test as a question...)

OK, I really want to buy this game, but I have PCs and Macs, and I won't buy it if I have to buy it twice. My question, then, is this: If I buy Wandering Willows, am I buying "Wandering Willows" and can then download it for both platforms? Or am I buying, for example "Wandering Willows for x86 Windows", and unable to also download the mac one? I can't find this info explicitly anywhere on PlayFirst's site, and suspect it wants me to pay for them separately.

Any ideas Jay?

[Edit: It's a good question, and one that does not come up often. When you purchase a game from the casual game portals, you are purchasing either the Mac or the Windows version, not a version that may be downloaded for either platform. Although I have been able to get a Mac version for a Windows version I previously purchased through Big Fish, you would have to go through the normal customer support channels to do that. -Jay]

Also, for those looking for something similar and awesome, try Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon (or it's sequel) for DS. They're both exceptionally well made games. If you want to lose the dungeon crawling aspect of it, then try Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (GBA) or any of the Animal Crossing games (GameCube, DS, Wii). I wouldn't really recommend any of the other Harvest Moon games though... they really swing wildly between awesome and total garbage.

I am having trouble finding silver, I have found some earlier but now i need it and i cant find any!!! Anyone got ideas????

How do you do the egg shell one?

Q: Can any one help me on where I plant the Daisy's The garden will only let me plant oats, wheat, cotton, or potatoes... Can any one help me please ???

How do you get nutmeg? I've looked on ALL the trees on every part of the island and no such luck.

Never mind. I figured it out.

Tonya - you can plant flowers anywhere - just drop them on the ground.

Angie - Silver is a little more rare but you should be able to find it by digging in the Tropics, maybe in the southern and western areas.

Terbear - You mean the quest from the professor with the eggshells?

Once this quest is activated, creatures will occasionally drop eggshells when you charm them. Charm enough creatures to get the eggshells.

Can't find quarts. Any hints? Do I just have to keep sweet talking the animals until they give it up?

Michelle - Yes, only animals will drop quartz. I don't have the game in front of me, but I know some of the creatures have the ability to cause more gem drops when charming - try using one of those as your pet! (You can see creature abilities in the stable.)

I can not find nutmeg in a tree? Where should I look?

Where did you find the nutmeg?

I found the nutmeg. From the Professor's bridge go south and just around the piece of land that sticks out there is a tree with cinnamon and the nutmeg.

To everyone looking for nutmeg:

The tree is located in the grasslands, toward the right center. Here is a screenshot that may help:

Nutmeg Tree

I can't find ruby and diamond. what animal do I have to charm with what animal (and where?) to find both ruby and diamond???

To Meandmines:

I've been finding rubies and diamonds in the Tropics section, mostly around the bottom of the area. Go through your pets and find one that finds more gems through charming. In my game, it's Cowlie, Monthrax, and Morilla to name a few. I don't think it matters which animal they charm. They can all produce gems.

I hope this helps.

Sorry for my english...

To earn the medal's I have to found all the pattern or I have to found the pattern and have the item in my inventory ? Now I have 41 collar pattern but I don't earn the medal !!! Thank

@Pam: thx for the info. I'll try it!!!

I am stuck at making pies. I have yet to find/buy a pie crust recipe. Do I have to find it? I keep looking and have not seen it available to buy.

Meanwhile, I'll just have a blast collecting, cooking and selling!

I know this should be a no brainer, but I just started playing and I am wondering how you get off the grassland? How do I get to the other islands? Do I just keep collecting things and making things till it unlocks? Thanks

cannsyl - your intuition was right - keep doing tasks and the other area will open up eventually!

Help pulleeze. I can't seem to find flax. Is it a diggin thing, or charm animal thing, or buy something or what? Have gone around doing all of em till have vertigo, to no avail.

To Grannygamer:

To find flax -

You grow flax in the garden on the tropics island.

I've visited the tree that is supposed to supply nutmeg over and over, but I keep finding two sticks of cinnamon. I've harvested the cinnamon repeatedly, hoping nutmeg might grow back in it place, but no such luck. At this point, I am stuck, because making the ale is the only quest available, and it seems I can't progress until I finish it (I've finished all the other available quests). Any suggestions/ideas? Is this a glitch that I can't fix?

Where can i find a ruby?

To JIGuest:

It seems to be rare to find a nutmeg on the tree, but I've found a few over time. Keep trying. :)

To Anonymous:

You can find rubies -

On the tropics island. The animals found in the bottom half of the island give them up.

How many collars are there really? The person above said there are 37, but I have 42 already and still haven't gotten the trophy for having all of them, so there must be more.

In answer to how many collars I think i got the Medal at 43 ..so hold on guys you can do it. Game finished just need all pets and i have all Medals

In the first task, the tutorial, I am not given any wheat seeds. Am I supposed to buy them?

JIGuest- To get wheat, click on a patch of your garden and your options for what to plant will appear in a pop-up menu.

I am also stuck on the tutorial - i have clicked on the garden and it doesn't do anything, it just walks over to the patch there is no pop up menu and i am not given any wheat seed. I am stuck - i really want to get on with the game it seems good, please help!

Hi, I can't seem to get up on certian ledges/mountains or off them. Any hints?

I can not find a lime tree, I have lemons and thought they would grow maybe on the same tree i have searched and searched for them. Someone help me please!

I have a problem. I bought Wandering Willows from Big Fish Games and I have made it to 145 tasks and I have 5 of the main tasks done but now every time I go to play the game it shuts down. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and scanned it with my anti virus software and it all checks out. Is there a glitch with the game or is it just me?

[Edit: You need to contact Big Fish customer support to help with that: -Jay]

LOTS OF ANSWERS

More areas, critters, and items will open up if you keep doing the side quests. there are 162 quests total for this game, and the nerdy kid tends to open up a lot of stuff for you( for example, rock areas and the brigde next to him...) Also, some shortcuts are made by comical mistakes (like the prof. firing a laser into a tree, thus making an open path...). Make sure your mouse highlight shows a rake, then click for the seed pop-up. below the prof, there are i belive 4 total trees that have cinnomin and nutmeg(rarish). Same with lemons and limes, just strip the trees of all they are holding, then come back in 3-4 minutes and try again. the Cat Species is one of the best, as well. Especially Rao (med dig, med climb, SUPA HIGH charm (high charm++...) and low eng (about 1600 before hes hungry)). He also has the bulls special, but better...

Also, a cheap cash trick for those who have a lv 16 Rao:

THis works at anytime you have it at 16 charm: Buy ultra high class food at 61 WB, then sell it back. Rao sellback at 16 charm: 92. 31 WB profit per food. You could do this on other items( min price of 5, turns into 7...) but this supa food makes a smashing 31 profit each. Think about it...

I'm not too sure if my last comment got through anywhere, but I decided to try to repost it, with new info.

All those people saying tropics, south half are only half right. you can get a lot of gems from all over tropics, there just tends to be more critters south of the town, but if your hunting for tons of gems, try recharming kababa's pet. It can drop anywhere from 2-7 seeds (hibicus only, it appears) or 1-7 diamonds, sapphires or rubies. also diamond drops seem to be higher on eesas, northern bound birds seem to carry more sapphires, and rubies are dang near random...

[Edit: I'll delete your first comment as this one has new information. Thanks! -Pam]

I need to find orchid seeds which island do i get them from?

So i need to get to the land behind the volcaino to get seeds from an animal behind there, but i cant find a way and cant complete my last two tasks until i get the flower seeds. HELP

I know where to find the rubies, but i can't figure out how to givfe nico the amp or where to find the pattern for it. I have no other tasks on either island to perform, except giving the ruby to maddie which i can't do until i can get to the bottom of the tropics island, which i can't do until i give nico a guitar and a amp? HELP PLEASE.

I finished the bouquet arc, but haven't gotten the telescope or heating element. However, the game isn't giving me any tasks or any options for new tasks. I'm trying to max friend everyone to see if that helps, but I'm stuck on 152. Anyone run into this problem?

How can I get the emeralds? I cannot get to the south of the tropic.

mum3 - I know I had a really hard time finding the orchid seeds too, I think they are a rare drop. I think I finally got mine in the central western Tropics. Hope that helps.

JIGuest - What exact quest are you on? Have you checked your quest list? Usually they won't ask for an item without giving you the recipe..

William - So you gave the bouquet to Maxine and it didn't start a new quest?

I have all eggs except for the Chacha. The walkthrough on Gamezebo shows maps with where the animals are, but I have found plenty of animals to appear in other sections. Thus, I don't necessarily trust the maps. I have only seen one Chacha during the entire time I have played the game and he didn't give me an egg. I can't remember exactly where I saw him and I am trying to find another, but don't want to waste the time walking the islands over and over. Anyone remember where they've seen a Chacha?

I gave the orchid bouquet to Commander Whittaker, then the ring to JJ, and I think that was the last one. I was expecting another to open up.

Nevermind. Never noticed Trevor Scrimshaw at the bottom. My bad. ^^;

Chachas tend to pop-up in the tropics, by the cocoa beans more often than anywhere else (my experience).

Imboko rocks.

Vane- the grasslands is the place of emeralds, just keep on charming, it takes awhile sometimes...

Thanks, Slash! I finally got the last egg. So, I guess the same is done. I have all the rewards. Is there a way to leave the islands now or did I miss my opportunity when I finished the balloon and chose to stay to finish the rewards? If I can't leave now, can someone who chose to leave tell me what happens? Does anything fun happen or do you just see credits? Thanks!

Hi! I have a problem finding the fixed router! I don't know what to do! Can anybody help?

And unfortunately, I already gave 2 golds, and we are now best friend. How do I get the router now?

I got 4 different eggs in my first free trial

This is my 1st time here. I'm having problem finding quartz. I get emerald and opal alot but what I really NEED is quartz. Can you help me?

hi and thank you everyone for helping out through out the game...

i am up to task number 159...i am looking for pecans..what trees can i find them??? thanks in advance

To Marissa:

You can find pecan trees in the tropics area. There are a lot of nut trees in the middle part of the island.

Just keep trying. The animals will give quartz, too.

Is there a way to get to the pieces of land that have bolders in front of them? I need to find nutmeg and I have heard that it can be found on a tree on the Northwest part of Grassland.

I can't find maraschino cherry tree anywhere, help??

Sam - Maraschino cherries grow on the same trees as regular cherries in the grasslands. Try the trees right across the bridge to the Professor's area.

Bree - The unreachable areas open up as you complete different tasks. To get to the area with nutmeg,

Keep doing the tasks with Jeremy until the bridge opens up.

Need help finding Iron to make the wrench for Mr. Zee. I think I found it before to make the bucket but now I can't find it anywhere. Any tips? Thanks!

I was wondering if someone can help me?? I'm at charm level 16 and I need to get to to try and find the heat element. What do I need to get more charm level? Torzil is wearing the big megacharm collar and the big megachance charm collar. Do I need a different helper or just keep digging and charming until I get to the next charming level?

Great game by the way.. totally addicted to it

diana - Probably the fastest way to increase your charm if you're already using collars is to keep digging. It shouldn't take too long!

kay - The iron is in the southeast Tropics.

You're talking about the quest where you have to charm Kababa's pet at the end? Level 16 is the max that any of the pets can reach for charming. Any pet should be able to do this quest as long as it's built up to the max on charming. Just be sure the pet is well fed before you start. You've already got good collars on it, so you should be able to do it.

I was able to get a screenshot of a pecan tree.

I have all the other medals except Master Collar Maker and I have 42 collar patterns. I've been playing now for days trying all kinds of different things to get the final collar pattern. Any suggestions?

Help! My daughter was playing my game while I wasn't watching, and when I came back my character had become invisible and it looks like my inventory and pet stock is back to where I was several days ago.

I had 7 of the 9 'quests' for the balloon parts done, and now it shows NONE finished.

Did she do something funny, or did the game have a hiccup?

And more importantly, can I get it back?

BTW, I'm playing the Mac version from Big Fish Games.

how can i actually silkscreen my shirt? i can't find the patterns!

Hi, i need help finding for Professor Meepole. He wants 4 (white square) dig:grass. Art Gunderson wants a ballroom gown and i cannot find the garden:flax.THanks!

Is there a limit on bag upgrade? I can't upgrade my bag!! or can anyone show me the cost of upgrading bag? thanks a lot!

Lovelymum - Have you been to the Tropics yet? You grow the flax in your Tropics garden. I think the grass is also found in the Tropics.

Yvonne - Have you already upgraded it? Do you know to buy upgrades at the sewing store?

Cyanni - Are you working on a quest to silkscreen a shirt?

Does anyone know where the save file for this game is located? I've gotten a third or halfway through the game on one computer, and I'd hate to have to do that all over on the other :(

Ummm, loved the trial, quaint casual game. I was wondering, isn't there a 10$ version out there. If so, how do I access that? Is there a code?

You can now get the game from Big Fish for $6.99

How do I access the 10$ version of the game (if there is one). Also, about how long does the gameplay generally last, by this I mean the central and sub- quest/story lines.

Hi, Great game but I'm stuck. I can't find the limes. Plenty of lemons but no limes. Can anyone tell me where to find them?

Over the course of three games, I kept track of which animal gives you flowers and gems. Some of them are still missing the info simply because they either haven't showed up in the game or I only got eggs from them, they are also listed. If I have missed any please feel free to let me know. This is based on at least three complete games. One question, has anybody been able to get an egg from Swirlee yet? I must have charmed 100 of them so far! UGH!

Jennifer - The limes grow on the same trees as lemons. Try leaving the area and returning to see if limes have appeared.

JonC - There are 160 tasks, some pretty trivial and others more complex.

frinster - I got a Swirlee egg, I guess just keep trying!

I loved the demo ^-^ too bad i dont have money to buy the full version T^T but it reminded me of Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing in a way :]

S.O.S! Hey i need help, i'm stuck in trying to make the Spiced Ale, but i can't find the other spice. It said to find it ina tree but i can't find it.... so Plz anyone!! Thanx

Abbie - Pam actually posted a picture of the nutmeg tree for spiced ale in the last page of comments:

"To everyone looking for nutmeg: The tree is located in the grasslands, toward the right center. Here is a screenshot that may help: Nutmeg Tree "

Help! Does anyone know where the most common place to find steel is?

mookochi - I don't remember any steel in the game, do you mean iron? Iron is dug up in the SE tropics.

I'm still at the beginning and I need to find nutmeg! I've searched the whole first island and can't find it anywhere. Help!

There is a link to a screenshot showing where to find nutmeg about three comments up from yours.

Where can I find the lemon tree and lime tree? Been looking all over.

The lemon/lime tree is located in the Tropics at the very bottom of the island. Here is a screenshot that may help you.

Lemon Lime Tree

can anyone tell me how to get quartz (animal) please, i purchased this game last night, after i had a trial a few months ago, and now i have completed 41 tasks.

To James Fisher:

There's nothing really special involved in getting quartz. It's not quite as common as some other items, but you just have to keep charming all the animals. It will turn up.

Hi! Has anyone found a use for the blue rose, magenta daffodil and green lily? Thanks. Anne

Hello I really enjoy this game, but I've never played a game past a demo, and stick mostly with free flash. So I hope my question doesn't sound silly. If I want to download this game and go off Bigfish, where it's only 6.99, does it then send via email an activation code, or a game disk? Again, I hope I don't sound too stupid asking this.

[Edit: You will receive via email an activation code immediately after your purchase. You will be able to play the full game right away. Not a stupid question. :) -Jay]

I'm having trouble finding oranges, I've been in the tropics wandering around looking for a few for one of the charcaters & I can't seem 2 find them any specific info would be MUCH appreciated!! Thanks. Shelly G.

I'm quite far into the game and am now looking for some iron bars which I did find earlier on in the game. I have 3 bars but need 4 and have been all over and can't remember where to dig for it. I need iron for Mr. Zee's wrench!

If you can help please write back.

helsbels - Iron is in the ground in the southeast Tropics.

Does anyone have a list of all characters in the game? I'm trying to get the "Social Butterfly" trophy and I have every character I can remember at "Best Friend" level, but I haven't gotten the award, so I must be missing someone. Here are the people I have:

Art, 2 ladies, newspaper guy at the grassland town.

Jeremy Jack

Jeremy's teacher

The Teacher's two girls near the Tropics bridge

The Professor

Three characters at the Tropics town: space man, grad student, film star

Two female friends (Blooey and Blueberry?) in the east Tropics

Trevor Scrimshaw, the pirate captain in the south tropics

Archeologist by the ruins in the west tropics

Any thoughts on who is missing from this list?

Shanglan - I think that's all the characters! You've double checked that they are all best-friend status? Here is a list of characters:

Grassland: Heather Weatherbee, Silas Applebee, Art Gunderson, Debbie Katz, Jeremy Jack, Professor Meepole, Molly Messenger, Bea and Evie Messenger, Mr. Zee Tropics: Maddie Capshaw, Captain Whittaker, Nico Garcia, Sally Blueberry, Barbara Blooey, Maxine Rose, Trevor Scrimshaw

I am having the same problem, every one of my people is on "Best Friend" status but I still don't have the Social Butterfly award

Five stars, all the way! This is what it feels like in an adventure/RPG game. You collect stuff, finish quest and personalize clothes and more! I wish for more games like these!

Hi! Has anyone been able to get all the recipes and patterns without buying them? Seems like the same ones are always left over at the end of the game. Thanks, Anne

I have lots of flowers seeds and can't seen to plant them....I take them out and drop them and nothing happens...HELP!!

Julie - Make sure you are planting them in the grass, not in the garden. They can also take a little time to grow.

cant pull..... away... from .... swirly ....rainbowness..... pulling self in.....chinchilla thingies sooooo adorable

I totally love this game. It's easy to play the game & makes a lot of fun, but there's a little problem I have & I bet some people will say - Whoa! She's dumb!

The problem/question.

Nico Garcia wants the broken router for Captain Whittaker, but where do I find the broken router? I stuck on it & running in circles.

I hope someone can help... Thanks!

Greetings, Lena

Lena - I thought you got the router from Captain Whittaker?

I collected all 41 pets and it still hasn't given me the biologist award. What can I do to fix it?

I LOVE this game! it's REALLY fun! One thing I DON'T like is that there are a few curse words. And another thing, the older man asked me to make a dress for him! A DRESS!!!!! I made it so it looked more like a tunic. (good thing I didn't use pink!!!)

does anyone know where you can find the tea recipe? I can't make iced tea for Maxine Rose without it.....

im stuck up. help. where can i specifically the ruby in tropic map? i charmed all the animal i've seen in the map, but still it did not work..

hi, i have wandering willows but i think i ve got a bug, every time i close the game it "forgets" me, and i lose all the progress i've worked on, any idea how to fix it? thanks

[You might want to contact customer support at the site where you purchased the game from to see if they know what the issue is. That being said, it sounds like a permissions problem if you're running on Windows. The game may be having trouble writing (saving your game state) to the directory where it is installed, thereby seemingly "forgetting" about your progress. That is a common Windows issue. -Jay]

I just got a demo of this to try out to see if I'd like it enough to buy. However, each time I create my avatar and confirm I'm done, when the game starts to load/start it crashes with no error message. :(

I am stuck on the quest to make ginger ale and the cookie for sally blueberry. where do i find the ginger??

I am having trouble finding the broken router & am running in circles for two days.....PLEASE HELP!!! Anish

Where on earth is broken router ?

i cannot find it

How do i open the sw to ne roads? I am completely stuck here. cant get to the hill to the north in the grasslands or off the hill in the tropics.t

Hi anyone know how toget over the bridges in the tropics to get to captain. Have got to task 81 but now no tasks captain and other flashing but cannot get over bride also cannot access 2nd hill area in grasslands NW can see grass ramp but again cannot find bridge near professor or access pont will not let me access. Please help have been running around trying all sorts of things with no results.

Kelli Beck -

Try digging in the southeast tropics.

Lovells Carp Lakes

wandering willows market deeping

Fishery Information

Situated in a lovely setting next to the village of West Deeping in Lincolnshire Lovell’s Carp Lakes is a popular fishery easily accessed by the local road network. Offering two lakes – a shallower older lake and more recent new water – that are well-stocked, it is popular with local anglers and those from afar.

There are plentiful carp in each lake with average weights of around 15lb. However, there are believed to be carp in excess of 30lb in the lakes, although it would seem they are few and represent a challenge.

Tench, bream and roach are present in each lake, as well as the more unusual barbel. The reed and lily beds provide excellent catch points, as does a gravel bar that runs through the lakes. There are plenty of pegs, some with car parking next to them.

Boilies are not permitted on either of the lakes at Lovell’s Lakes.

What size do the fish go to?

It is believed there are car in excess of 30lb in the lakes, with a good stock of fish having reached more than 15lb. Other coarse fish are also present in quantity.

What tactics work well?

Boilies are not allowed at Lovell’s Lakes, and the marginal shelves are the recommended area for the best catches.

What facilities are on site?

Facilities are limited to those of a rural fishery, and there is a tackle shop a short walk away in the nearby village.

Is parking available?

Parking is available and adjacent to many of the pegs.

wandering willows market deeping

Fun and cute

It's easy for young players, too.

Cute, but somewhat repetitive over time.

What makes this game a good time, despite the somewhat repetitive gameplay (collect; dig; collect; dig; hope what you actually need spawns) is the writing and the tongue in cheek humor. Kudos to the writing staff!

Also, the host of animals are rather precious, and it's fun to try to get a variety of achievements and whathaveyou. Also, as the other reviewers have noted, it is NON VIOLENT, which is very welcome. As someone who loves the Harvest Moon games, it's great to find another game that doesn't "level up" by killing and scouring for the best gear; you actually "crit" the other animals with charm!

Excellent game!

This game is a bunch of fun for all. And it's also long enouph to enjoy it all the way! Love it!
