Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn event guide

Everything you need to know about the massive weekend Hoenn region event

by Julia Lee and Matthew Reynolds

Primal Kyogre and Groudon behind the logo for the Go Hoenn: Tour for Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn is a huge two-day global event that takes place on Feb. 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in your local time . The event brings out tons of Hoenn region Pokémon, including region exclusives and the debut of Primal Reversion for Kyogre and Groudon.

During the event, there are rotating habitats that change the spawns, special Pokémon in raids like Deoxys , and other perks to enjoy. We list them out below.

Are there any differences or changes for Pokémon Go Tour Hoenn day 2?

According to players in regions where the event is already live, there are no changes or additions to the event for Day 2 of Go Tour Hoenn.

This is different to most weekend-long events where the Sunday will introduce new quests or a surprise or two. Instead, use the opportunity to continue completing existing quests, participating in Primal raids or finding catching an elusive Latios or Latias in the wild.

This also means the habitat schedule - listed later on this page - will be the same, allowing you to complete any outstanding Collection Challenges.

Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn event tickets explained

This year, the event is mostly free . Players can fork out $4.99 for the optional Masterwork Research Tasks that rewards a Shiny Jirachi , but that is the only money-gated part of this event.

The “Chasing Legends” Special Research is free for all players who open the game during the weekend, as well as the Latios or Latias Photo Safari quest.

As well as this, make sure you have chosen Ruby or Sapphire in the “Primal Rumblings” Special Research , as this will tweak certain elements to the event, including participation in the on-going ‘Primal Surge’ contest for who can complete the most Field Research each hour (boosting wild Pokémon and Primal Raids for either team) as well as whether you’ll see wild encounters for Latias and Latios.

Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn event bonuses

  • Incense may attract Unown, Brendan’s hat / May’s bow costume Pikachu
  • Chance of 5 Latios or Latias Mega Energy when spinning PokéStops

To confirm - there are no changes to egg hatching distances for the duration of the event.

The rest of this page explains the other changes to habitat spawns, incense, raids, eggs and field research.

The Go Tour: Hoenn Global event brings three new research quests to Pokémon Go - one of which has already been released.

The quest in question is Masterwork Research: Wish Granted , which is also the only paid content connected to the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event.

It takes you on another Jirachi themed adventure and grants you the chance to add a shiny Jirachi to your collection. Since it’s a Masterwork Research quest though, the challenges it presents will take you far longer to complete than your regular special research quest. So, if you’re up for the challenge, be prepared for it to take a while…

The Masterwork Research: Wish Granted quest will be available for purchase in the in-game Pokémon Go store until Monday 20th March and we have instructions on how to buy it at the bottom of this guide.

hoenn tour date

Chasing Legends is the second special research quest and every Pokémon Go player can enjoy it for free.

This quest will see you reuniting with Rhi of the GO Ultra Recon Squad to investigate the Hoenn folklore surrounding the Red and Blue Orbs. These items appear to have a connection to Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon who happen to be causing trouble in the world of Pokémon Go during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event.

To unlock this quest you need to both play Pokémon Go during event hours - 10am to 6pm (local time) on Saturday 25th February and Sunday 26th February - and have completed the Primal Rumblings quest, so you can pick between the Ruby and Sapphire teams .

Progressing through this quest will give you the chance to earn Primal Energy for either Groudon or Kyogre depending on which team you selected - Ruby or Sapphire. You'll also be asked to choose between Cacnea, Gulpin or Surskit; your choice determines which one will appear more frequently when you use Incense throughout the event, along with some of the rewards and challenges in the quest.

hoenn tour date

The final research quest you can partake in is the Ruby or Sapphire: Photo Safari .

As the name suggests, which version of the quest you receive depends on the team you picked - Ruby or Sapphire. If you haven't selected a team yet, it's a good idea to know the Ruby and Sapphire version differences .

The quest itself tasks you with hunting down either Latias in the Sapphire version or Latios in the Ruby version - both of which will be appearing in the wild depending on which team you picked. After that, much like the legendary dog Photo Safari during the Go Tour: Johto event, you simply need to take a photo of the legendary to earn and additional encounter with them.

hoenn tour date

There’s a host of features for you to enjoy during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event in Pokémon Go - both free-to-play and paid.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the features on offer, which we cover in more detail after the lists:

  • Masterwork: Research Wish Granted - grants you the opportunity to catch a shiny Jirachi

Free-to-play:

  • Chasing Legends special research quest
  • Ruby or Sapphire: Photo Safari (Dependant on choice between Ruby and Sapphire)
  • Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre appearing in Primal Raids
  • Ruby vs Sapphire Challenge
  • Rotating habitats
  • Four Global Collection Challenges
  • Go Tour: Hoenn and Spooky Cipher field research tasks

  • 10km egg pool contains regionally exclusive Pokémon - Torkoal, Tropius and Relicanth
  • New avatar items and stickers

Pay-to-play Go Tour Hoenn Global features

hoenn tour date

Unlike past Go Tour events in Pokémon Go, there is only one activity you need to pay for during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event - the Masterwork Research: Wish Granted quest.

Purchasing this research quest will allow you to add a shiny Jirachi to your Pokémon collection. The quest itself costs £4.99, $4.99 or the equivalent price for your local region. It is nonrefundable and can not be purchased using PokéCoin.

Masterwork Research: Wish Granted will be available for purchase until Monday 20th March 2023 from the in-game store and we’ve outlined how to buy it at the bottom of this page.

If you do decide to buy the quest, it will be available immediately after purchase and, thanks to its lack of deadline, you can complete it at your own pace. It will, however, take you some time since Masterwork Research quests are designed to be long!

Free-to-play Go Tour Hoenn Global features

Aside from the one piece of pay-to-play content above, there’s a host of activities and features available to players for free during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event.

This includes the Ruby vs Sapphire Challenge , which asks trainers to pick a team and then complete a special Field Research task every hour. Depending on which team wins, two bonuses inspired by said team will occur in the next hour, such as an increased number of Primal Raids for a certain Pokémon.

Your choice in team also decides whether you can encounter either Latias or Latios in the wild and which Photo Safari quest you have access to.

Pokémon Go Hoenn Tour.

Rotating habitats also return! When one of these four habitats takes the stage a selection of Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild. Each habitat has its own Global Collection Challenge which you have until 6pm (local time) on Sunday 26th February to complete. If you’d like to learn which Pokémon these are, along with the Pokémon included in the Global Collection Challenges, then visit the section below.

By using Incense, excluding Daily Adventure Incense, throughout these habitat hours, you'll also increase your chances of encountering Unown E, H, N and O.

During these habitat hours, you’ll also encounter two new costume Pikachus who’s designs are inspired by the protagonists of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire - a Pikachu wearing Brendan’s hat and a Pikachu wearing May’s bow.

The following Pokémon are also having their shiny forms released as part of the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event:

hoenn tour date

This means all of the Gen 3 shiny Pokémon forms are now available in Pokémon Go!

There’s also the Chasing Legends special research quest to keep you busy while hunting Pokémon, which will be available to all players. Since Nianitc has described Chasing Legends as a special research quest, it most likely won’t have a deadline leaving you free to complete it whenever you like. We, however, highly recommend completing it during the Go Tour: Hoenn event, because this will make some of the challenges easier to complete.

To unlock this quest, you must first complete the Primal Rumblings special research quest and select a team - Ruby or Sapphire . You also need to play Pokémon Go during the Go Tour: Hoenn event to ensure you have access to Chasing Legends.

Storyline-wise, Chasing Legends will see you investigating the Red and Blue Orbs alongside Rhi and uncovering their connection to Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon.

hoenn tour date

On the subject of Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon, the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event sees their world-wide release after their introduction during the Las Vegas version of the event.

Both Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre will be appearing in Primal Raids throughout both days of the event - Saturday 25th February and Sunday 26th February. Defeating these legendary variants will reward you with Primal Energy , which, just like Mega Energy with Mega Evolutions, will allow you to transform a regular Kyogre or Groudon into their Primal form.

Primal Kyorge and Primal Groudon are incredibly powerful Pokémon, but these forms can only be maintained for a short period of time so use your Primal Energy wisely!

Alongside Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon, the following Pokémon will be appearing in raids :

Any egg you collect during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event will also keep to the egg pools listed below:

We highly recommend searching out those 10km eggs, because Torkoal, Tropius and Relicanth are all regionally exclusive . Relicanth can be especially hard for trainers to find outside of events due to it only appearing in New Zealand and the islands surrounding this country, such as Fiji and Samoa.

You can also use the Regice, Regirock and Registeel codes to unlock timed research quests, which, when completed, will give you encounters with these three legendary Pokémon!

There’s also a range of new avatar items in the in-game store for you to purchase, including tracksuits inspired by Groudon and Kyogre, a Kecleon Bag and clothes inspired by the playable characters from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Don’t forget about the special Go Tour: Hoenn stickers !

hoenn tour date

Finally, in keeping with tradition, there will be a selection of new music , inspired by Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, composed by Junichi Masuda playing throughout the event.

The Max Out Season is here! The GO Big is currently running in Pokémon Go. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles . First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest . Don't forget to try out Routes , Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon , fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases .

There are four habitats during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event - Blistering Sands, Eerie Mists, Verdant Earth and Ancient Shores. Throughout these habitats a selection of Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in the wild and each has its own Global Collection Challenge, which is available to all players.

The habitats follow a local time schedule, which means that, no matter where you live, the Go Tour: Hoenn event will start with the Blistering Sands habitat at 10am. The habitats will then rotate every hour throughout the two event days - Saturday 25th February and Sunday 26th February. Each habitat will appear four times across the event, which means, each one will be available for a total of four hours.

This grants you ample time to catch the Pokémon spawning more frequently in the wild during these habitat hours and, below, these habitat hour Pokémon listed:

Don't forget - by using regular Incense, you'll increase your chances of encountering Unown E, H, N and O.

Get Ready for Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Global

February 24, 2023

Get Ready for Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Global

Make the most of this tribute to the tree-riffic hoenn region..

T he annual Pokémon GO Tours are an incredible opportunity for Trainers to catch elusive Pokémon, accumulate Candy and Stardust, and encounter those coveted Shiny Pokémon. Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Global, taking place February 25 and February 26, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time each day , is no exception. There’s a lot happening in just two days, so Trainers hoping to make the most of the event can get a head start. Here are five things you can do right now to get ahead on the adventure celebrating Hoenn.

Repping Ruby or Selecting Sapphire

hoenn tour date

To start off, you’re going to choose either a Ruby or Sapphire badge. During the event, Trainers can represent their chosen team by completing Field Research tasks. The team that completes the most tasks per hour will determine which Pokémon will appear in the wild—and which Pokémon will surge forth in Primal Raids! If team Sapphire floods the competition by completing the most Field Research, Trainers will see a swell in Primal Kyogre raids and more encounters with Minun, Illumise, Wailmer, Lunatone, and Rainy Form Castform. If team Ruby comes in hot, Primal Groudon raids will erupt more frequently, and Trainers will be more likely to see Plusle, Volbeat, Trapinch, Solrock, and Sunny Form Castform. And don’t get down if your team doesn’t win—work on those Field Research tasks and the tide may change in your favor the next hour.

Storage, Storage, Storage

hoenn tour date

You’ll have the opportunity to catch a lot of Pokémon during Pokémon GO Tour, but the big question is: will you have sufficient storage space for these Pokémon? The last thing you want during the event is to have to stop your tour of beautiful Hoenn to transfer Pokémon because you’ve run out of space. Fortunately, the maximum Pokémon Storage capacity was recently increased to 6,250, and the Item Bag capacity was increased to 5,250. If you haven’t already, you can take advantage of this by purchasing that additional storage. It’s also a good idea to transfer your extra Pokémon before the event in case the expanded storage doesn’t cut it. And don’t forget to pay attention to your Egg storage, because the following event Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs.

2 km Eggs: Pichu, Igglybuff, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Azurill, and Wynaut

5 km Eggs: Surskit, Gulpin, and Cacnea

7 km Eggs: Trapinch, Feebas, Bagon, and Beldum

10 km Eggs: Torkoal, Tropius, and Relicanth

Picking Your Pokémon

Whether you’re looking for Shiny Pokémon, are missing a few entries in your Pokédex, or are looking for Pokémon to round out your GO Battle League team, it can be difficult to focus with so much going on. But knowing which Pokémon you can expect to encounter and how you can find them—whether in Eggs, raids, or specific habitats—is a good first step. If you’re planning on participating in lots of raids, power up the Pokémon that you plan to use in these raids. If you’re interested in a Pokémon that will appear in a specific habitat, make sure you’re playing when that habitat is active.

The following Pokémon will appear in raids.

One-star raids: Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip

Five-star raids: Normal Forme Deoxys, Attack Forme Deoxys, Defense Forme Deoxys, Speed Forme Deoxys

Primal Raids: Primal Kyogre , Primal Groudon

There are four themed habitats that will rotate throughout the event. Different Pokémon will appear in the wild when each habitat is active. Check out the list below to see which Pokémon are drawn to certain habitats.

Blistering Sands: Torchic, Poochyena, Lotad, Nincada, Makuhita, Nosepass, Aron, Numel, Cacnea, Baltoy, Bagon

Eerie Mists: Ralts, Surskit, Whismur, Meditite, Spoink, Zangoose, Seviper, Chimecho, Absol, Snorunt, Luvdisc, Beldum

Verdant Earth: Treecko, Zigzagoon, Wurmple, Seedot, Shroomish, Slakoth, Skitty, Mawile, Electrike, Roselia, Gulpin, Swablu

Ancient Shores: Mudkip, Taillow, Wingull, Carvanha, Barboach, Corphish, Lileep, Anorith, Feebas, Spheal, Clamperl

The following Shiny Pokémon will appear in Pokémon GO for the first time!

Shiny Unown H, Shiny Surskit, Shiny Gulpin, Shiny Torkoal, Shiny Cacnea, Shiny Tropius, Shiny Relicanth

Battle-ready Trainers won’t want to miss the opportunity to stock up on Catch Candy to pump up these GO Battle League regulars.

Great League: Azumarill, Swampert, Pelipper, Medicham, Altaria, Whiscash, Walrein, Defense Forme Deoxys

Ultra League: Swampert, Pelipper, Walrein, Defense Forme Deoxys, Obstagoon

Master League: Metagross, Kyogre, Groudon

Ready to Research

As always, research will play an important role in Pokémon GO Tour. In addition to special Field Research, which you can pick up by spinning PokéStops, there are two big research opportunities—Special Research: Chasing Legends and Masterwork Research: Wish Granted. During the former, Rhi from the GO Ultra Recon Squad will ask you to research Red and Blue Orbs, which seem to be connected to Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon. You don’t have to buy a ticket for Special Research: Chasing Legends, but keep an eye on your research throughout the weekend to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Trainers can purchase a ticket for Masterwork Research: Wish Granted for US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Tickets are available for purchase until March 20, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. PDT. But if you know you’re going to do the research, it’s a good idea to buy the ticket early so you can spend the event working on your research tasks. As a reward for completing the research, Trainers will earn an encounter with Shiny Jirachi—certainly a wish come true!

Gear Up for Adventure

hoenn tour date

In addition to making sure you have all the necessary gear in Pokémon GO—Poké Balls, Raid Passes, Berries, and other equipment—it’s important to gather the necessary supplies outside of the game as well. Whether you plan on playing all day or for a brief period of time, it’s a good idea to have drinks and snacks to ensure you’re well-fueled. Bring a phone charger to ensure you don’t lose power. If you’re planning on doing lots of walking, make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Sunscreen is always a good idea if you’re going to be outside, even if it’s not particularly sunny or warm. It’s more fun playing with friends, so consider planning to meet up with friends for raids and other Pokémon GO adventures. And, as always, be aware of your surroundings while playing.

Have a Tour-riffic event, Trainers!

Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn Event Guide

hoenn tour date

Raid Priorities

Pokemon to aim for, other priorities.

After Pokemon Go Fest, the recurring Go Tour event is the single biggest event that Pokemon Go has to offer. Since its initial Kanto-run back in 2020 , it’s always been the biggest source of excitement on this side of the year, and this year is set to outright blow even Go Fest out of the water. Niantic has stepped up their game and pulled out all of the stops for this event, so it can be really easy to get outright lost in the sea of bonuses and note-worthy Pokemon to catch, so here’s our take on the top priorities for Go Fest: Hoenn to hopefully make the big priorities a bit easier to see.

The Primals

Primal kyogre.

Primal_Kyogre

Primal Groudon

Primal Groudon

Without a doubt, Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre are the top priorities for this event. These absolute monsters have shown up with quite literally unprecedented power, and are definitely toppers for our current Attackers Tier List , with strong utility for events that will open up the Master League to their ancient powers.

In general, we recommend that players prioritize Primal Kyogre before Primal Groudon. Is this because Primal Kyogre more important? No, it’s because players who have gathered enough Primal Energy will be able to utilize their own Primal Kyogres to absolutely flatline poor Primal Groudon. For those looking for a bit of help, check out our Raid Guides for this titanic duo, and don’t forget that these are Tier 6 Raid Bosses, so be ready

The Deoxys Quartet

Deoxys (normal forme).

Deoxys

Deoxys (Attack Forme)

Deoxys (Speed Forme)

deoxysSpeed

Deoxys (Defense Forme)

386defense

Deoxys in its various formes isn’t a super common sight in Pokemon Go, so a new chance to catch this mutated space virus is always welcome, though it’s going to be hard to justify spending passes on this while the primals are running around. Deoxys - Defense is the stand-out here, with genuine PvP utility that’s compounded by its general rarity due to the fact that it can’t be traded. Deoxys - Attack is the runner-up, but not because of its rarity. While once the hyper-glassy DPS monster of the game, it’s now basically worthless due to being vastly out-performed by a plethora of Pokemon. No, the real utility of Deoxys - Attack is the fact that it can be easily soloed! Need more XL Candy for your Deoxys - Defense? Don’t bother getting a 3+ person raid group together, just Mega Evolve a Psychic Type and solo Deoxys - Attack to farm down that candy! Just make sure that you’re ready, as players will need a solid attacker-base to secure a sure win.

So what about Deoxys - Speed and Vanilla Deoxys? Well, these two are just dex fillers. You can see if you can find a raid group that wants to take them down, but it’s probably best to just wait until their next appearance so that you don’t miss out on something more important.

Deoxys-Defense-Guide

The Hoenn Starters

Treecko

This popular trio is always great to have, especially since they all have Mega Evolutions available. But it’s probably best to skip them unless you don’t have a raid group that can take down the Primals and don’t want to farm Deoxys.

As with most events of this nature, Go Tour: Hoenn will focus on “ biomes ” for their spawns At set periods throughout the event, the spawn-set will shift, changing up the event spawns. Players will be able to take part in Blistering Sands, Eerie Mists, Verdant Earth, and Ancient Shores biomes, each featuring the following spawns:

Blistering Sands

Poochyena

Eerie Mists

Ralts

Verdant Earth

Zigzagoon

Ancient Shores

Taillow

The Priorities

The top priorities here have to be Torchick for Mega Blaziken and Bagon for Salamence / Mega Salamence . These are outstanding Pokemon that have a lot of general utility for a lot of players, and the chance to farm XL candy for them is great. Meanwhile, Nosepass and Baltoy evolve into Probopass and Claydol respectively, both of which have some utility in PvP, and Lotad evolves into Ludicolo , which has potential in select limited-format cups.

Finally, farming a few Numel and Aron can be useful for Mega Camerupt and Mega Aggron , though neither is super-high priority.

Ralts can turn into the monster that is Mega Gardevoir , and Meditite has Medicham , which is still a top-priority Pokemon for the Great League in particular, with Mega Medicham looming on the horizon. Beldum is also great due to the power of Metagross and should always be a priority for anyone lacking strong Steel Type coverage or a strong individual for PvP, while Absol is great if you need a good Mega Absol . Finally, Zangoose performs fairly well in the Ultra League given some circumstances, and it and Seviper are considered regional Pokemon, so picking up whichever you don’t already have is always nice.

It's a bit strange that they didn't count Sableye  and Banette  in this biome...

Electivire

Mega Sceptile is one of the top-priority Mega Evolutions, so Treecko should be a goal for anyone who doesn’t have one, and the exact same argument can be made for Electrike and Mega Manectric . Roselia’s evolution, Roserade , is a fairly strong Pokemon that covers Grass and Poison, but it’s a bit overshadowed nowadays. It’s still good for coverage for players who don’t have full teams built, so it’s worth a mention here. Swabu is good because of Altaria ’s PvP performance , so it’s worth farming here if you don’t already have one built. Finally, Mawile is a bit niche, but it’s semi-rare so trying for one or two good ones is nice.

We don’t have a whole lot here, truth be told. Mudkip is note-worthy for the performance of Swampert and Mega Swampert . Spheal is great because of Walrein’s performance in the Great and Ultra Leagues in particular. Wingull is a solid goal due to Pelipper's performance in the Great and Ultra Leagues as well, though it tends to do best in select limited cups. Finally, Barboach’s evolution, Whiscash , was once a staple in the Great League. But it's definitely fallen from grace as of late and doesn't really see much use in open Great League. Still, it has potential in limited cups, so trying for one with good PvP IVs can't hurt.

Universally Available

Torkoal

On this list, Tropius is definitely the must-have. It’s a very rare Regional Pokemon that has outstanding performance in the Great League, so it’s probably smart to catch every one that you may see. Meanwhile, Relicanth and Torkoal are a bit under-powered at the moment, but they have future potential and are both regionals as well, so picking them up to help future-proof your account is a good idea. May as well grab a  Costumed Pikachu   and  Unown-H   while you're at it.

Trying for all of these Pokemon is going to involve a lot of moving around, so may as well take advantage of the situation by incubating a few eggs along the way! We’ve got a number of different Pokemon hatching from different eggs, so here are the highlights to aim for:

Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip are all here, so those who are looking for a good specimen of any of these should be happy to find any 2KM eggs. Azurill is also here, but the 10/10/10 IV floor means that it won’t be good for PvP outside of trades. Still, it’s easy candy!

Surskit, Gulpin, and Cacnea are the Pokemon on offer from 5KM Eggs, so this isn’t exactly a priority.

Bagon and Beldum can hatch from 7 KM eggs collected during the event, and both are fairly high priority Pokemon. 7 KM eggs are actually pretty attractive prospects for the event.

If you’re lucky enough to score a 10 KM egg, you can look forward to Torkoal, Tropius, or Relicanth; the three region-locked Pokemon that are being temporarily set free for this event, and they can all be shiny as well. This may honestly be worth slogging through 5 KM eggs to try for.

Ruby or Sapphire?

Unlike previous Go Tour events, current reports and press releases suggest that Go Tour: Hoenn will not have ticket-exclusive spawns. Instead, ticket holders will be in direct competition with one another every hour. The winners of these competitions will cause a Primal Surge, which will cause different effects depending on which team wins.

Primal Surge: Sapphire

Primal Kyogre will appear more frequently in raids, and the following Pokemon will appear in the wild:

マイナン

Castform (Rainy)

castformRain

Primal Surge: Ruby

Primal Groudon will appear more frequently in raids, and the following Pokemon will appear in the wild:

Plusle

Castform (Sunny)

castformSunny

All-in-all, it doesn’t really matter which you pick, as neither team gets any real highlight spawns. Just pick up whichever medal you prefer to have on your account, or just go for whichever Primal you want to raid the most to help out your chosen team.

Shiny Jirachi

Jirachi

Players will be able to pick up the Masterwork Research: Wish Granted to be able to catch none other than the Mythical Pokemon of Hoenn; Jirachi! But not just any Jirachi, this will mark the debut of Shiny Jirachi!

…but the ticket for Shiny Jirachi is not included in your Go Fest: Hoenn ticket price, and will cost an additional $4.99. And if we’re being completely honest, Jirachi is not a super-useful Pokemon, with its main claim to fame being pretty mid-tier utility in all three leagues. Picking it up here should really only be a priority if you genuinely love the Pokemon, want to future-proof (though its signature move is already in the game)  and/or are a Shiny collector.

hoenn tour date

We’ve got a mere two days to hit this event hard, but that’s actually fine this time. In general, the big priority is getting enough Primal Energy (and hopefully a good Kyogre/Groudon if you don’t already have them) to tear up future raids with the Super-Ancient Pokemon and a few Regional Pokemon while they’re available everywhere with the remaining bonuses being sort of water under the bridge. Honestly, we’ve had many chances to catch many of the Pokemon listed here in bulk, so a lot of players can feel safe just hunting down the big priorities and taking it easy for the rest of the weekend, though newer players will be able to take advantage of these great new spawns to bolster their teams

Related: Pokemon Go: Primal Reversion Complete Guide

Eggs acquired and hatched during the two Pokemon Go Tour - Hoenn events will provide you with different event-themed Pokemon.

Make sure to obtain and hatch these eggs during the event window for a chance to get one of the following Pokemon.

There will be a change in the Pokemon found in the wild during this event, mainly those that were originally found in the Hoenn region of Pokemon.

The Pokemon that you encounter will vary depending on which habitat you are playing the game in, including the Blistering Sands habitat, Eerie Mists habitat, Verdant Earth habitat, and Ancient Shores habitat.

Additionally, there will be a Ruby vs. Sapphire Challenge taking place throughout this event, requiring those who participate to choose either Team Ruby or Team Sapphire.

As a result of this, there will either be Ruby or Sapphire-themed Pokemon encounters in the wild, changing each hour depending on which team completes more Field Research tasks.

Both the Team Ruby and Team Sapphire wild Pokemon encounters can be found below.

Two new costumed variations of Pikachu will also be available for the Pokemon Go Tour - Hoenn event.

One costumed Pikachu will be wearing Brendan's Hat, and the other will be wearing May's Bow, both inspired by characters in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.

Make sure to participate in this event while it is available for a chance to encounter and catch these exclusive event-themed costumed Pokemon.

Following the completion of the Primal Rumblings Special Research Story, you will be tasked with choosing either Team Ruby or Team Sapphire, impacting what takes place during this year's Pokemon Go Tour.

After making this decision, you will receive either a Ruby or a Sapphire badge, determining which team you will be working with throughout the course of this event.

As a result, you will have access to special event Field Research Tasks, completed to help support your specific team.

Depending on which team has completed more of these Field Research Tasks each hour, you will encounter either Ruby Pokemon Spawns or Sapphire Pokemon Spawns.

Additionally, you will see a change in the Primal Raids each hour depending on which team has completed more Field Research Tasks.

If Team Ruby has completed more, there will be more Primal Groudon Raids, or if Team Sapphire has completed more, there will be more Primal Kyogre Raids.

Lastly, you will have the opportunity to encounter either Latios or Latias in the wild, determined by whichever team you have selected.

If you opt for Team Ruby , you will have the chance to encounter Latios in the wild, while if you choose Team Sapphire , you will have the chance to encounter Latias in the wild.

During this event, taking a snapshot of either Latios or Latias in the wild will provide you with an additional encounter with that Pokemon.

All in all, there is no concrete answer regarding whether you should choose Ruby or Sapphire, essentially being a matter of preference .

Make your choice based on the Pokemon that are associated with each team , including Wild Pokemon, Primal Pokemon, and Latios or Latias.

Regardless, you can encounter and catch Pokemon from both Team Ruby and Team Sapphire, so don't worry about missing out based on your decision.

That being said, ensure you're completing as many Field Research Tasks for your team, increasing the likelihood of your team emerging victorious each hour.

Pokémon GO , likely the world's most recognizable augmented reality game , hosts a gigantic in-person event February 18-19 in Las Vegas. This "tour" celebrates Hoenn, the setting for the third generation of Pokémon games, Ruby and Sapphire.

As with each of the game's previous tours, Pokémon GO Tour Hoenn focuses on a particular Pokémon, elemental type, or pop culture moment tied to the franchise. For this event, legendary powerhouses Kyogre and Groudon will have access to their Primal forms — a process that allows them to revert back to their original designs which feature flowing lava and brighter patterns on Groudon's arms and Kyogre's fins.

Returning to a beloved region

At the start of the event, players can choose from two teams, Ruby or Sapphire. The former increases the presence of Primal Groudon Raids, and the latter Primal Kyogre. For the first time since Pokémon GO launched, players will finally get to encounter the Primal versions of these legendary Pokémon.

Along with access to Primal Reversion, the event will also showcase one of the most popular forms of Pokémon across its many games: shiny variants. These color-changed versions of Pokémon are coveted most by collectors for how rarely they spawn in the wild.

During GO Tour Hoenn, players also have the chance to encounter other exclusive Pokémon. That includes the legendary Eon Pokémon Latios and Latias, the ever elusive Kecleon (which can also be shiny) and several species of Pokémon with shiny chances across different habitats: Nincada and Bagon in the Blistering Sands Habitat, along with Absol and Beldum in the Eerie Mists Habitat. You can even nab a costumed Pikachu wearing Brendan and May's hats from the Sapphire and Ruby games.

The event will also feature new music from Junichi Masuda, The Pokémon Company's Chief Creative Fellow and programmer whose ties to the franchise reach back to its very first games.

It's an addition that Humberto Kam, Niantic's Director of Global Live Events, hopes resonates most with fans.

The GO Tour will introduce new stickers as well.

"We're totally nerding out about that, because as people walk in [to the event], I want people to hear those horns from Hoenn...it was a great place to draw inspiration from, not only for the nostalgia but also to put a different spin on things." Kam said the experience is also an attempt to bridge the gap between fans old and new to the world of Pokémon GO .

Kam shared that destination appeal is a significant metric for in-person events as players may want to participate in activities outside of the game. "As much as we love Pokémon GO , if I was going to the event, my wife might want to have something else to do," he added laughing.

"We did Kanto and Johto years prior, so this was next on the list but given that it's Hoenn, we knew we had to do it right," Kam said about the impact of Ruby and Sapphire and the plans for this year's GO Tour.

Familiar faces

Bringing Hoenn's iconic legends to the event was an ode to a generation beloved by players across the Pokémon community. "When we started talking about GO Tour for this year, we just went Primals, right? We're going to add Primals?'" Kam said about the planning stages. From very early on they wanted to do something special and it felt like a "no-brainer" to add the feature.

Throughout the history of the franchise, Groudon and Kyogre have been staples in the anime, in viral memes , and on teams that have had massive success in the video game format tournaments of Pokémon's competitive scene .

The two, along with the legendary dragon Rayquaza, make up what fans have coined "the weather trio" — a trifecta of elemental barons who hold dominion over their respective ecosystems.

Groudon, as its earthy name suggests, reigns over the lithosphere, while the water Pokémon Kyogre rules the hydrosphere. In Pokémon lore, both creatures remain locked in an ancient rivalry, causing the earth's surface to split and its oceans to swell.

In the main series of games, Groudon and Kyogre serve as the cover art for Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire versions, respectively. Together, the games are listed as the eighth best-selling titles in the franchise's history.

Similar to previous events, Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn takes place over the course of two days, and each day has something exciting in store for players. Last weekend, players traveled to Las Vegas to play the in-person event, so this weekend players will have the opportunity to play in their local venues with their friends, without having the need to travel.

If you can’t wait to go after some Gen III Pokémon and take part in some of the special events planned by Niantic, check out the guide below for everything you need to know.

When does Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn Global begin and end?

On Feb. 25 and 26 beginning at 10am local time and ending at 6pm each day, players will be able to access some of the exclusive events that are happening over the course of both days.

Several different activities will be available to players, including an increased chance to find Shiny Pokémon, rotating habitats, Special Research, special Raids , costumed Pokémon, and more. Many players use the event as an opportunity to catch rarer Pokémon and hunt for their Shiny forms, as well as catch whatever Pokémon will be appearing in special event Raids.

Korn kicked off their 2024 North American tour with some rare cuts - including one classic song not played in 25 years

Korn, Gojira and Spiritbox are officially on the road, and Korn are packing bangers

Jonathan Davis live on stage

Last night (Thursday September 12), nu metal godfathers Korn officially kicked off the latest chapter of their 30th anniversary celebrations by touching down in Tampa, Florida for the first date of their 2024 North American tour. The Bakersfield boys - who are commemorating 30 years since the release of their game-changing 1994 self-titled debut album - were joined by French metal heavyweights Gojira and rising metalcore stars Spiritbox, marking the occasion by dusting off some rare Korn bangers.

Opening with setlist staple Here To Stay before launching into Follow The Leader classic Dead Bodies Everywhere - the song's first live performance since 2019 - Korn then proceeded to smash through an 18-song set that took in cuts from nine of their 14 studio albums. Amongst standard old school anthems such as Blind , Falling Away From Me and a set-closing Freak On A Leash was the rarely aired Oildale , the clear highlight from mostly forgotten 2010 album Korn III: Remember Who You Are , and newer songs such as Start The Healing from 2022's Requiem and Insane from 2016's The Serenity Of Suffering . Also dusted off was a particularly rare track, Hey Daddy , taken from 1999 album Issues and only ever previously played once almost 25 years ago.

See Korn's full setlist from the night alongside their current North American tour dates below.
