An enchanting land of pink sand and turquoise waters — discover that paradise is in fact a reality. Bermuda may be so British that the police are constables and the countries share a royal family, but the traditional Bermudan breakfast is codfish, potato and banana — yep, this island puts its own spin on tradition. Sail on Carnival's Bermuda cruises and you'll experience this unique cultural cocktail, along with a serious helping of natural beauty. This palette of an island, combining green hills, pastel-colored homes, and pink-sand beaches makes the perfect backdrop for world-class golf, glass-bottom boats, swimming with dolphins, mountain biking and shopping. And thanks to the mild, comfortable climate, tea time's an outdoor event, year-round. Treat yourself to a getaway that's both proper and perfectly relaxed when you choose one of Carnival's cruises to Bermuda.

  • Snorkel or scuba great coral reefs.
  • Hoist up the sails and explore the local waters.
  • See caves housing stalactites and crystal-clear pools.

5 day cruises from baltimore to bermuda

Cruises from Baltimore to Bermuda

Due to its location on Maryland’s coast, Baltimore has become one of the most popular starting points for cruises to Bermuda. Let’s take a closer look at cruising to Bermuda from Charm City.

How To Get To The Baltimore Cruise Port

The Baltimore Cruise Port is conveniently located along I-95 only about a 5-minute drive from Downtown Baltimore. If you’re flying into Baltimore International Airport (IATA: BWI), then you’re only a 10-minute drive to the Baltimore Cruise Port.

Anyone traveling into BWI might consider taking a taxi or ride-share vehicle directly to the Port of Baltimore. Although prices could fluctuate, a standard taxi rate from BWI to the port is about $15.

Another popular way to get from BWI to the Port of Baltimore is to hop on your cruise line’s dedicated shuttle service. Both Royal Caribbean and Carnival now offer shuttle transportation for between $25 – $40 one-way.

Also, keep in mind that many of Baltimore's hotels now offer transportation to the city's cruise port. Be sure to look into your hotel's offerings if you plan on staying in Baltimore before your cruise.

People who are driving to the Baltimore Cruise Port will find ample parking in the port's main garage. Currently, it costs $15 per cruise night to park a standard car at the Baltimore Cruise Port. If you have a vehicle that's 30 feet long or longer, you'll have to pay between $30 – $40 per night.

By the way, here’s the official address of Baltimore Cruise Port:

2001 East McComas Street

Baltimore, MD, 21230

What’s The Best Time To Visit Bermuda?

Most travel experts recommend booking a trip to Bermuda in the early spring. During these months, daily temps hover between 60° F – 75°F, and there's relatively little rain. Plus, since early spring is considered the "offseason," tourists usually enjoy cheaper cruise rates.

The most popular time to visit Bermuda is during the summer and early fall. Although the temps are warmer during these months, there’s also a higher chance of precipitation. Of course, you also have to pay close attention to the threat of hurricanes if you’re visiting during these seasons.

For those who don’t mind average temps in the 60s, you might enjoy a wintertime trip to Bermuda. Although you won’t be able to swim in Bermuda’s lovely waters, you can still enjoy eating, touring, and golfing.

What Are The Top Ports Of Call In Bermuda?

Although Bermuda has three important ports, it’s most likely your ship will dock at the Royal Naval Dockyard. Situated on the westernmost tip of the southern Sandys Parish, the Royal Naval Dockyard is the only port that can handle big cruise ships.

Less frequently, cruise ships could dock by the capital city Hamilton in the central Pembroke Parish. There’s also a cruise port in the northeastern Town of Saint George known as St. George’s Port.

No matter where you land, Bermuda is easy to navigate via buses, taxis, or rental cars. Indeed, it only takes about an hour to drive from Sandys Parish in the south to St. George’s Port in the north.

What Is There To Do In Bermuda?

Bermuda has been a tourist getaway since the Victorian era, so you can bet there are plenty of ways to amuse yourself once you get here. A few of the most popular things to do in Bermuda are as follows:

  • See the famous pink sand on Horseshoe Bay Beach.
  • Climb to the top of Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse.
  • Play a few rounds of golf on Bermuda’s pristine courses.
  • Enjoy British Colonial architecture in the UNESCO-protected Town of St. George.
  • See remarkable rock formations at the Crystal Caves & Fantasy Caves.
  • Take the kids to the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum, and Zoo.
  • Explore 500 years of history at the National Museum of Bermuda.

What’s The Currency In Bermuda?

Considering Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory, you might assume locals use the British Pound Sterling for money. Interestingly, Bermuda has its own currency creatively named the Bermudian Dollar.

Even more surprising, both the Bermudian Dollar and the US Dollar trade at the same rate. So, it is possible to use US Dollars on your Bermuda vacation.

Safety Tip: Always Look To Your Left!

As you walk around Bermuda’s many towns, please remember that people drive on the left-hand side of the road. North American visitors should get in the habit of looking on both sides of the road before crossing.

First cruise ship leaves Port of Baltimore since Key Bridge collapse

By Christian Olaniran

Updated on: May 25, 2024 / 6:15 PM EDT / CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE -- For the first time since the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, a cruise ship has left the Port of Baltimore.

Royal Carribean's Vision of the Seas left the port Saturday, embarking on a  five-night voyage from Baltimore to Bermuda.

"Cruising is back in Baltimore "Port Executive Director Jonathan Daniels said at a press conference Sunday.

It's a Royal day in Baltimore! Cruise ships are back. Today, PoB Director Jonathan Daniels welcomed @RoyalCaribbean 's Vision of the Seas to our cruise terminal for the 1st time since the Key Bridge collapse. The ship embarks today on a 5-night voyage to Bermuda. Welcome back! pic.twitter.com/H2pqhQgigm — Port of Baltimore (@portofbalt) May 25, 2024

The Port of Baltimore  services many cruise ships  including Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian.

It's been about two months since a cargo ship, the Dali, struck the Key Bridge which collapsed into the Patapsco River.  The accident killed eight construction workers who were on the bridge at the time of the collapse.

The update marks significant progress since the collapse, as crews have worked continuously to clear the wreckage site .

A Carnival cruise ship was expected to return to Baltimore in April, but after the Key Bridge collapse, it ported in Norfolk, Virginia.

Netflix Marathon: 25 Shows to Keep You Glued to the Screen

Not a thing to do, but take a trip down memory lane! That ’70s Show managed to cultivate some of the most iconic moments in pop culture history. It’s also responsible for catapulting its younger stars Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Wilmer Valderrama and Danny Masterson into the spotlight. Created by Mark Brazill, Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner, That ’70s Show centered on a group of teens growing up in the suburbs of Wisconsin in the 1970s. It ran for seven seasons on Fox from 1998 to 2006. Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith, Don Stark, Tanya Roberts, Lisa Robin Kelly and Tommy Chong also appeared on the series. “[We] had no idea what was ahead of us, or if it would even last … but we knew it was gonna be fun,” Valderrama reflected via Instagram in August 2018, while celebrating the show’s 20-year anniversary. “We spent 8 years and 200 episodes together, we traveled the world … [and] we grew up together. We were a family, and will always be.” Grace, the series lead, and Kutcher both left the series after seven seasons. Though Josh Meyers stepped in during their absence, both actors returned for the series finale in 2006. The success of That ’70s Show also led to the release of That ’80s Show in 2002. The spinoff series featured Glenn Howerton of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame in the early days of his career. The sitcom was short-lived as it was canceled that year after one season. For more hot celebrity news, listen to Us Weekly editors dish on top topics & trends with these clips from the Hot Hollywood Podcast! Despite That ’70s Show’s continued popularity today through cable reruns and Netflix streaming, fans shouldn’t expect to see the series revived in the same fashion as Roseanne and Full House. Grace previously hinted that the likelihood of the entire cast returning for a revival is slim. “That cast has gone on to such amazing things. Each person individually has had such great success,” he explained to Newsweek in September 2018. “I would absolutely love to do it to spend time with those guys, but I don’t want to think about it too much. It’d be too fun of an idea, and I doubt it would happen.” Scroll down to see what the cast has been up to since the series wrapped!

Cruise ship operations to resume from Baltimore later this month, port confirms

5 day cruises from baltimore to bermuda

Cruises from Baltimore will resume later this month.

Royal Caribbean International’s Vision of the Seas will leave from the city on May 25. That will mark the first cruise ship to do so since the March collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge , the Port of Baltimore said in a Facebook post .

Vision of the Seas will sail a round-trip cruise to Bermuda, according to CruiseMapper . Royal Caribbean previously moved the ship’s operations to Norfolk, Virginia in the wake of the bridge collapse.

“Royal Caribbean International looks forward to returning to the Port of Baltimore once again,” a spokesperson told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. “Vision of the Seas will set sail on a 5-night itinerary as planned on Saturday, May 25 after completing its previously scheduled drydock in the Bahamas.”

Carnival Cruise Line also expects to return this month.

Carnival will embark guests on Carnival Pride’s May 19 cruise in Norfolk, but anticipates it will end the trip in Baltimore.

“We are encouraging our guests to register for our complimentary bus service between Baltimore and Norfolk for the sailing's embarkation,” spokesperson Matt Lupoli said in an emailed statement. “We remain in close contact with local, state and federal officials regarding the return of our operations at the Port of Baltimore.”

First cruise ship sets sail from Port of Baltimore since Key Bridge collapse: ‘It’s a good day’

Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas is preparing for the first cruise out of Baltimore since the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. (Jerry Jackson/Staff)

The festive occasion marked the first cruise ship to arrive and depart the Port of Baltimore since the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26.

Less than a week prior, the terminal was the headquarters for the Key Bridge Response Unified Command to coordinate recovery operations, Daniels said. They began condensing their workspace down last weekend, started packing up Monday night after the Dali was refloated that morning and were out by Tuesday afternoon.

Maryland Port Administration Executive Director Jonathan Daniels speaks Saturday at the Cruise Maryland Terminal ahead of the first cruise departing from the port. (Annie Jennemann/Staff)

“While there is still work that needs to be done to be able to complete the salvage operation, this is a wonderful sign that the next milestone is pointing to the fact that business is truly returning to the port,” Daniels said.

Just after 10 a.m., the sound of steel drums echoed in the terminal as it began to fill with passengers eager to board Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas cruise ship for a five-night trip to Bermuda.

Tom Sitzler said he and his group had planned the trip since August to celebrate his partner’s 60th birthday. They live in Washington, D.C., but had a very specific reason to sail out of the Port of Baltimore.

“The whole purpose of the cruise though was to actually cruise out of Baltimore out past Annapolis, because Allen grew up there, the birthday boy, and he wants to see Annapolis from the bay,” Sitzler said.

“I’ve always wanted to cruise down the bay and see all the spots where I grew up,” said Allen Steven, the birthday boy.

Cruises that were already underway or were scheduled in the past two months have been rerouted to the Norfolk Cruise Terminal . Steven said if their trip had been moved to leave from Norfolk, they would have rebooked.

A group of five friends from Harford County also were heading on a cruise to celebrate, donning matching pink hats that said “Friends on the Loose 2024 Friends Trip.”

“We are celebrating a milestone birthday,” said Kathy Schlehr. “We have all attained the age of 70 or beyond.”

“Not yet!” someone chimed in.

The group said they were ecstatic when they found out about a week and a half ago they would be sailing out of the Port of Baltimore. The departure location was one of the reasons they went on the cruise.

The return of cruises benefits the tourism industry in Baltimore and the rest of the state, Daniels said.

More than 440,000 passengers went through the Cruise Maryland Terminal in 2023, he said, and they may also stay in hotels, eat at restaurants and even come back to enjoy the city afterward.

“Many of them are experiencing what Baltimore has to offer for the very first time,” Daniels said.

The 915-foot long vessel with a 25-foot draft got underway after 4 p.m. and used the 400-foot-wide, 50-foot-deep channel that opened Tuesday in the Patapsco River. In addition to a pilot, it was accompanied by two tugboats.

Even though the Unified Command vacated the cruise terminal, operations are still ongoing, just back in their own spaces, said David O’Connell, the Coast Guard’s captain of the port. They coordinate daily on ongoing operations, including salvage work in the main and outside channels as well as coordinating with the Army Corps of Engineers on vessel traffic in the temporary channels.

Saturday, the Army Corps announced a delayed goal of June 8-10 to restore full access to the federal channel. Officials had previously said this would be achieved by the end of May.

“It was great all being together and coordinating operations, but it’s great to be here and see this place in a different light,” O’Connell said. “You see it lively with people that are going on vacation, going through security, the ship is out back. It’s a good day.”
