Is There a Drink Package on Disney Cruises?

While there are options to buy alcohol on board, there is no Disney Cruise drink package with all-you-can-drink alcohol. But have no fear, as there are definitely various options.

Not working with me!

You will have the opportunity to order alcoholic drinks individually or as part of a wine or beer package. While there is no drink package for hard liquor, there are a variety of choices available in the bars and lounges.

Is it Worth Getting the Drink Package on a Cruise?

Disney Cruise drink package options are a great way to save some money and not overspend on alcohol. If you choose one of the wine or beer packages, you will end up saving money if you would have otherwise just purchased them individually.

You will have to figure out how much you think you would drink onboard the ship. If you are on a 3-day cruise, do you really need seven bottles of wine? Probably not.

Buying alcohol on the ship is way more expensive than going into your neighborhood grocery store for it, so you don’t want to buy more alcohol than you will drink.

The majority of other cruise lines do offer drink packages, and while it may seem like a good idea, you need to ask yourself if you really need that much alcohol.

Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy

Each guest, 21 years and older, can bring two bottles of wine or champagne or six beers when they board the ship.

They cannot be checked and have to be put in carry-on bags. No hard liquor is allowed on the ship, and you cannot bring any open containers on.

If you consume the alcohol in one of the dining rooms, there is a $25 corking fee per bottle. Be aware if you purchase a Disney Cruise drink package, you cannot consume any alcohol in public areas of the cruise ship.

If you purchase any alcohol while in port, you will check them in with a staff member and pick them up at the end of your trip.

In addition, if you bring more than the allowed amount, it will be stored until the end of your trip. You must pick up any unused alcohol before you get off on your last day. It is not advised to try to sneak extra bottles of alcohol on board the ship. The crew will find it and then have to confiscate it.

If you have any additional questions regarding the Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy , take a look at the entire policy online.

Benefits of Purchasing a Wine Package on your Disney Cruise

Purchasing a wine Disney Cruise drink package onboard will save you 25% off the cost if you would have bought the bottles individually. You can purchase either the classic wine package or the premium wine package. You have the option to select either 3, 4, 5, or 7 bottles.

Since you can preorder the wine package, it gives you time to do some research. There are several bottles to choose from, so it’s nice to have some time before to think through your selections.

As you are selecting your options, remember to keep in mind how much you actually think you will drink.

You will receive a message card in your stateroom to bring to your dinner in order to redeem your bottle of wine. Your selection is then served right to your dinner table. It’s always nice knowing exactly what you are going to get when you sit down for dinner.

You are allowed to drink more than one bottle of wine a night, and you can take any leftover wine back to your stateroom. In addition, you are able to take up to two bottles off the ship.

An 18% service charge is added to all wine packages.

There are four options in the classic wine package. You can purchase:

3 bottles for $100

4 bottles for $130

5 bottles for $156

7 bottles for $210

The available wines in the classic Disney Cruise drink package are:

Beer Packages on Disney Cruise Line

The Disney Cruise drink package for beer provides you with six beers for the price of 5. During the initial days of your cruise, there will be collectible 6-pack soft-sided coolers for sale. The cooler stores flat, which makes it easy to pack in your suitcase when you are headed home.

There is a limit of one cooler per adult, 21 years and older. If you choose not to get the cooler, you will still have a beverage cooler in your room, where you can keep your beer chilled.

The below brands of imported beer are available in a 6 pack for $36.25 each.

The following domestic beer options are available in a 6 pack with 16 oz aluminum bottles for $36.25.

  • Miller Light
  • Michelob Ultra

  • Coors Light

How to Order a Disney Cruise Drink Package

It is very easy and convenient to order a Disney Cruise drink package. You can either pre-order your drink packages ahead of time from your reservations page or order them right from the ship. It comes down to what your personal preference is.

While ordering a drink package, you can also pre-order room decorations, cigars, flowers, or sweets. Disney Cruise Line robes are also available.

To sign up for a beverage package, you can either pre-purchase one through  Onboard Gifts .

If you booked using a Disney travel agent , just let them know and they can add it for you.

Non-Alcoholic Drinks

If you decide not to get a Disney Cruise drink package, you can still enjoy the drink of the day on your trip. Each day, you will bring a new drink to choose from. The drink of the day will be listed on the front page of the Personal Navigator you receive each day. There will always be an alcoholic and non-alcoholic option to choose from.

The drink of the day is a great deal at $5.46 (alcoholic) and $4.89 (non-alcoholic). For an extra charge, you can get a fun, plastic souvenir cup. The price of the cup and the drink is right around $16.

You aren’t required to get the souvenir cup in order to buy the drink of the day. You can use it for refills (not free, of course), and you will get slightly more if you were to have ordered the drink without the cup.

Examples of the drink of the day:

Non-Alcoholic

  • Parrot Song
  • Espresso Chiller
  • Bahama Mama
  • Paradise Punch

A non-alcoholic drink of the day in a souvenir cup would be a fun gift for children!

Disney Cruise Beer Mug

If you want a beer but don’t want to purchase the Disney Cruise drink package, consider the beer mug deal. You can buy a Disney Cruise Line beer mug for $16.95 at one of the various pubs and bars.

A 22 oz glass of beer is given, and refills are then offered for the price of a 16 oz mug of beer. You don’t have to keep your beer mug with you at all times. (It’s heavy, so you won’t want to!)

The bartender will give you a paper beer mug token, and each time you order, you show your token, and they will give you a clean mug. When your cruise is over, turn in your token for a new beer mug to take home.

If you don’t plan on buying more than one beer a day, the beer mug deal might not be for you. Unless of course, you’re only in it for the collectible mug. You can, however, bring your token back on a further trip to get the same deal.

Disney Cruise Drink Specials

In addition to selecting a Disney Cruise drink package, consider trying one of the daily drink specials. The best way to find out if there are any available drink specials is to ask your bartender. While some specials are announced, they aren’t always advertised, so the best way to find out is to ask.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink specials will be available. Examples of Disney Cruise Drink Specials:

  • Conch Coolers
  • Mimosas and Bloody Marys
  • Screwdriver
  • 2 for 1 deal
  • Mocktails

Disney Cruise Free Soda

You don’t need a Disney Cruise drink package to receive a free soda. The beverage is free throughout the ship at specific beverage stations. There is a soda machine located on the pool deck that is open 24 hours a day. Soda is also available at the buffet.

You will have to pay for soda at the theater concessions stand and any bar or lounge. If you know you will be going to see a movie, stop by the soda machine ahead of time to get your free drink.

Drinks available at the soda machine are:

  • Coke and Diet Coke
  • Sprite and Sprite Zero
  • Fruit Punch and Lemonade

What Drinks are Included with the Price of a Disney Cruise?

There is no need to have a Disney Cruise drink package to receive included beverages. The only drinks included in the price of your Disney Cruise are non-alcoholic beverages. This includes soda, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

It’s important to note you are able to bring your own sealed cans or bottles of soda and water onto the ship. A 6 pack of bottled water will cost you about $10 onboard, so it’s wise to bring your own.

There is no limit to how many non-alcoholic beverages you can bring on the ship. If you don’t see your favorite soda is available on the ship, you may want to consider bringing your own. Pack them carefully so they are not damaged during the handling of the bags. The last thing you want is your soda to get all over your packed clothes.

That being said, there are plenty of opportunities for free drinks, so try not to overload your suitcase too much. If your room isn’t ready when you board, you’re going to have to lug that around the ship.

Hacks to Save Money on Drinks with Disney Cruise Line

Bring your own drinks.

To save money on your Disney Cruise Line drinks, it’s important to know that you can bring your own alcoholic beverages on board.

Each guest aged 21 and over is allowed to bring two bottles of unopened wine or champagne (750 ml) or six beers (12 oz) on board at embarkation and at each port of call.

This is a great way to save money on drinks during your cruise and to enjoy the beverages that you prefer.

Happy Hours

Happy hour on a Disney cruise is a great way to unwind and relax after a busy day of exploring the ship and participating in activities. During happy hour, guests can enjoy discounted drinks and appetizers at select bars and lounges on the ship.

Drink of the Day

The Disney Cruise Line is known for its excellent dining options and onboard entertainment, but it’s also famous for its Drink of the Day. Every day, guests can enjoy a specially crafted cocktail at a discounted price.

Concierge Lounge

When you opt for a concierge-level room on any of Disney Cruise Line’s ships, you can enjoy a range of additional amenities and perks. One of them is complimentary beverages. You can have access to bottled water, soft drinks, milk, and juice all day long. As the evening sets in, lounge bartenders are ready to serve you beer, wine, and spirits.

Sommelier Bin Wine

When you’re on board a Disney Cruise Line ship and visiting one of the bars, you’ll come across a menu that has a special section called the Sommelier Bin.

By choosing this option, you can ask your server or bartender to bring you a glass of white, red or sparkling wine from the bin. The wine they select will be based on what’s already open, and you won’t know exactly what you’re getting until it’s poured for you.

If you’re feeling adventurous or in the mood to try something new, the Sommelier Bin is a great way to sample wine at a discounted price.

Does Disney Cruise Offer Drink Packages?

One of the quintessential cruise experiences is sitting on the sun deck enjoying a lovely, fruity, ice-cold drink… preferably with a little umbrella sticking out of it. It’s a sure sign that you’re on vacation! But all those drinks can easily add up over the course of your cruise. Does Disney Cruise offer drink packages to help offset the cost?  Yes, but you might not need them because the drinks that are included in the cost of your cruise are a bit more generous than some other cruise lines.  Let’s explore.

What drinks are included in the cost of a Disney Cruise?

Disney cruises offer a number of great drink options included within the cost of your cruise.  Here’s a representative sample of the types of drinks you might find available onboard at no additional cost to you – but note that some restrictions might apply.

  • Fountain drinks, such as Coca-Cola products, lemonade, and vitamin water (except those sold at bars/cafes/snack bars)
  • Tea (iced and hot)
  • Hot cocoa mix
  • Various juices
  • Standard coffee (regular, decaf)

You’ll be able to find these, with free refills, in restaurants onboard and at self-service stations on the pool deck.

What drinks are not included in the cost of a Disney Cruise?

As you might expect, alcohol on your Disney Cruise is not included, and some other specialty drinks also incur a cost.  If you’d like any of the following drinks, you’ll need to be prepared to pay extra, either per drink or as part of a package deal:

  • Drinks sold at cafes and snack bars onboard
  • Canned/bottled sodas & water (such as those offered with room service)
  • Cocktails and Mocktails
  • Fruit smoothies
  • Specialty coffees and teas
  • Other specialty drinks

What drink packages are offered onboard Disney Cruise Line?

First, to answer a common question, there is no “unlimited alcohol” or “all you can drink” package onboard Disney Cruise ships.  But you can find package discounts for purchasing multiple beverages at once.

Here are some examples of offerings you might be able to buy onboard, or purchase in advance through the Disney Cruise onboard gifts web page.

Prices and offerings are always subject to change , so be sure to check the Disney Cruise website, the Disney Cruise Navigator app, or signage onboard for up-to-date details.

Disney Cruise Lines Drink Packages [Packages & Pricing 2023]

Last updated on March 10th, 2024 at 09:33 pm

Disney Cruise Line is known for offering an unforgettable and magical vacation experience for families and individuals alike. One of the highlights of the Disney cruise experience is the variety of food and drinks available on board.

Most of the other major cruise lines have drink packages front and center, but searching the Disney Cruise Line’s website, it’s a hard go to find information about drink packages.

That may be because Disney is a family-oriented cruise where the kiddos’ interests are paramount.

And while they don’t push their alcoholic drinks, they do have plenty of them, and here is what we did find out about drink packages on DCL:

Table of Contents

Beverages Included And Not Included In A Cruise On DCL

Beverages included at no extra charge:.

  • Soft drinks, coffee and tea served during meals.
  • Non-alcoholic drinks from the Beverage Station.
  • Soft drinks served at Vibe teens-only lounge.

Beverages that incur an additional charge:

  • Alcoholic beverages, smoothies, specialty coffees and bottled water served during meals.
  • Beer, wine, cocktails, bottled water and non-alcoholic beverages served in lounge areas.

There are no “unlimited alcohol” or “all you can drink” packages onboard Disney Cruise ships. They do have what they consider “packages” that you can purchase both in advance and onboard.

Wine Packages

The wine onboard Disney comes in many varieties, and there are classic, or standard, wines and premium wines.

Wine options will vary by departure port and by the ship’s itinerary.

You can purchase Classic wine or Premium Wine packages in one, three, four, five or seven bottle packages.

As of this writing, Feb 2023, the prices ranged from a low of $38 for one bottle of Classic wine to $316 for a seven-bottle package of Premium wine.

Beer Packages

Disney has a variety of beer that includes:

  • Corona Blue Moon
  • Miller Lite
  • Coors Light
  • Bud Light Lime

The beer comes in a six-pack, and all types of beer brands are at this writing, $33.75.

Beer Mug Package

DCL has a branded beer mug that can be purchased onboard. This decorative mug holds 21 ounces and each time you fill it at any onboard bar, you get a 21-ounce refill of beer at the cost of a 16-ounce size.

Lugging this large mug would get tiring quickly, so if you want, you can just use the beer mug token. The token gets you the same benefits of the mug without having to tote it wherever you go.

Although brands of beers vary depending on the port of call , these beers that you can get in your decorative beer mug may be:

  • Stella Artois
  • Angry Orchard
  • Michelob Ultra
  • Samuel Adams
  • Kona Longboard
  • Newcastle Brown Ale

Hard Seltzer

Truly Pineapple and Truly Wild Berry are the two hard seltzer flavors that can be purchased in a six-pack at a cost of $25, at the time of this writing, in the DCL beverage package.

Bottled Water

Dasani bottle water packages usually come in 16-ounce aluminum bottles. They will be delivered to your stateroom before your arrival.

You can order water in packages of six, twelve or twenty-four bottles.

Room service will also offer bottled water options when you purchase through them. They may offer a “buy five and get one free” type of offer. If you are interested, make sure to check the room service menu.

OnBoard Tasting Seminars

If tasting various alcoholic beverages appeals to you, DCL gives you that option with a slew of tasting seminars.

Exclusively for adults, these seminars range from Amari, Beer, Bourbon, Champagne, Cognac, Martini and a Chocolate & Liquor Tasting seminar.

There is also a Mixology Class, Mojito & Caipirinha, Rum, Tequila & Margarita Tasting, and last but not least, Whiskey.

Disney Cruise Alcohol

Disney cruise alcohol: tasting, policies, and tips.

By  Alisha Molen

When you’re in the midst of planning your Disney Cruise , one of the important topics of discussion will likely be the Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy .

There’s so many questions and, if you’re looking to make the most of your vacation, need to know all the tips and tricks to enjoy alcohol responsibly and save money while cruising.

I’ve pulled together the most comprehensive guide to alcohol rules on Disney cruises , including all you need to know about the Disney cruise alcohol package, Disney Cruise Beverage Tastings .

So, if you’re ready to learn what’s allowed in order to bring booze onto the cruise ship–and enjoy the booze they’ll bring you, well, let’s get started.

disney cruise liquor package

Table of Contents

Is alcohol included on a disney cruise, can i bring alcohol on a disney cruise, can you sneak alcohol onto a disney cruise, how do you save money on alcohol on a disney cruise.

  • Does Disney Cruise have a Drink Package?

Does Security Check for Alcohol?

  • Can we Bring our own Alcohol into our Rooms?

Can you Bring Alcohol onto the Ship at each Port of Call?

  • Can I give Alcohol as a Fish Extender Gift?

Disney Cruise Beverage Tastings

Alcoholic drinks are not included in your cruise cost , so any purchases made would be added to your onboard account and then charged with any other costs you incur while cruising.

Yes, but there is an alcohol limit.

Any guest 21 years old and older may bring up to 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage AND at each port of call.

These beverages must be packed in carry-on (not checked) bags or luggage–they will be confiscated if you place them in your checked bag.

However, bringing liquors and spirits (including powdered alcohol) on board is prohibited.

Let me repeat that: the wine or champagne you can bring MUST be in your carry-on bags.

Additionally, any alcohol you bring on the cruise can’t be enjoyed in any lounge or public areas. So, you need to plan to drink it in your stateroom or on your balcony.

You can certainly bring your carry-on bottles of wine to dinner, but there’s a $25 corking fee.

Ok, so, let’s get real here. Sure, I’m sure you can do some super-smuggler action and hide your little tiny bottles of tequila or whiskey in some secret compartment in your luggage like some modern day 007.

But, word to the wise: if they catch it, they’re not going to let you keep it. They store the forbidden alcohol items until the end of the trip and will not let you keep it.

Plus, the likelihood of getting caught is pretty high. You’re one person going on a cruise. They’re professionals and they know all the hacks and tricks–so unless you’re just some genius spy, you’re going to lose your liquor.

Bring your own. If you plan to drink in your state room or on your balcony, you can save a substantial amount of money by having each adult over the age of 21 bring two bottles of wine or champagne with them in their carry-on bags. You can also bring this wine to meals, but you will not be allowed to drink this in public areas.

Order the drink of the day. You may have to ask, but every day there is a drink of the day that is served on the Disney cruise that is much cheaper than the other drinks. There may also be unadvertised specials, but the drink of the day is a consistent. With gratuity, the cost of the drink of the day is about $6.25.

Here are some of the drink of the day adult beverages that are served:

  • Bahama Mama
  • Caribbean Dream
  • Castaway Cay Breeze
  • Cool Breeze
  • Key Lime Margarita
  • Malibu Bay Breeze
  • Orange Cruiser
  • Paradise Cocktail
  • Paradise Punch
  • Pineapple Mojito
  • Sunken Treasure
  • Yellow Bird

Get a wine package. Although you’re going to save about 25% on what they normally charge, wine is priced on the cruise like you would pay at a restaurant. So, it’s a lot more than you’d expect to pay for the same bottle of wine at a store. And, a gratuity of 15% is automatically added to any wine package. So, there’s that additional cost. But, if you want a bottle of wine with more than one meal, you are definitely going to save by getting the wine package rather than buying one bottle at a time.

If you have already bought your tickets for your Disney Cruise, visit the onboard gifts and amenities site to see more details and pricing specific to your ship.

Get the Beer Mug. For $16.95 you can buy a 22 oz. Disney Cruise Line, glass beer mug with the beer of your choice. For the remainder of your cruise, you can have it refilled for the price of a 16 oz!

The bars will exchange the mug for a beer mug token when you are finished to take the weight and responsibility of the the glass mug off your hands until you are ready for a refill. It is also nice at the end of your cruise to exchange for a clean mug to pack in your luggage.

Ask them to cork it. If you ordered a bottle of wine on the wine package or just got one bottle for dinner, but didn’t drink it all, ask your server to cork it. They will happily do so and either let you take the bottle back to your state room to enjoy later or save it for you next meal.

Is there a Disney Cruise Drink Package?

Beverages of the non-alcohol variety are included in your cruise package. However, alcohol is not. You can get a wine package, as discussed above, but there is no all-inclusive Disney Cruise drink package.

Yes. They will confiscate anything in your checked bags and any alcohol you bring in from the ports of call. This alcohol will be stored until the end of the cruise and returned to you, but you will have to pay duty on any you brought from the ports of call.

Can You Bring our own Alcohol into Your Rooms?

Yes!

Image of a drink on a beach

Yes. However, security will confiscate any alcohol you bring in from the ports of call. This alcohol will be stored until the end of the cruise and returned to you, but you will have to pay duty on any you brought from the ports of call.

Can you give Alcohol as a Fish Extender Gift?

No. If you don’t know what a Fish Extender gift is, you should learn! It’s one of the lesser-known aspects of a Disney Cruise but it is a ton of fun. Read our Fish Extender guide here to get the full scoop.

The thing is, you can’t give alcohol. It would be stated on their site as well. You don’t know that the person receiving is 21 years of age, nor is the gift bag attended–it’s just hung on the door, so anyone could stumble across it. So, let’s be safe and just go with “no.”

Each cruise hosts a variety of adult beverage tastings that you can sign-up for online at booking or even on the ship (note, however, that they are often sold out months prior, but you might be able to score a spot if someone cancels onboard).

Below are a few of the most popular beverage tastings:

Champagne Tasting

  • What: Get a chance to taste a wide variety of champagnes from Europe to the US.
  • Time: 1 hour

  • What: Pop a cork on multiple styles of veritals and learn the history of the world’s second oldest adult beverage.

If you’re looking to enjoy an adult beverage on your Disney Cruise, this guide is the basic starting-point for making that happen.

Definitely be sure to check for changes to this policy when you book your cruise.

Your guide to disney cruise line's drink packages.

Updated: Feb 8

Most major cruise lines, like Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Carnival Cruise Line, typically offer an unlimited alcohol drink package. However, Disney is known to be a more family-centered cruise line. As such, they do not offer those typical drinks packages, but there are still various ways to get adult beverages when onboard. This blog post will dive into the various options you have on a Disney Cruise ship!

Disney Cruise Drink Package

Disney does not sell unlimited packages, but they do have beer and wine packages. These packages can be purchased online ahead of time through the Onboard Gifts website or can be purchased while on board. These packages include:

Champagne's spinning in a Lehmann glasses "Soufflé bouche" collection

- Classic or premium wine packages for 3, 4, 5, or 7 bottles of wine (price ranges from $105 to $330 before tax and tip)

- 6-pack of beer from brands like budweiser, coors light, michelob, miller light, blue moon, corona, and heineken ($36.25), - 6-pack of truly hard seltzers ($32.50), disney cruise line also has a refillable beer mug offering known as the beer mug savings package for $15.25 while supplies last. the mug grants you the ability to get a 21 oz beer for the price of a 16 oz. size to take advantage of this package, you will need to bring the mug with you to the bars around the ships or at a minimum, bring your beer mug token, which entitles you to all the benefits of the mug without having to lug it around. there are various draft beer options on board for you to enjoy, including stella artois, guinness, angry orchard, samuel adams, kona longboard, and newcastle brown ale - to name a few, and they vary depending on the port of call..

Beverage Tastings

Multiple wooden platters with samples of assorted beer, cider, and mead.

Using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, you can book a beverage tasting that will allow you to sample select adult beverages during an informative seminar. Depending on your sailing some beverage-tasting options include learning about the complexities of bourbon, trying tropical drinks like Mojito & Caipirinha, and even attending a bartending workshop in their mixology class!

Other Ways to Get Adult Beverages

- Purchasing at the Pool Deck, the Ships' Adult-Exclusive Spaces, and any of the bars around the ship - Disney also offers a drink of the day! This allows you to purchase the alcoholic beverage of the day for only $5 before tax and tip.

- ordering through room service, castaway cay, and in the main dining room , - for free at the concierge lounge, if you booked that category - the concierge lounge features an open bar that operates continuously from 5 to 10 pm daily. guests are welcome to carry their drinks anywhere on the ship, even to dinner..

Can you bring alcoholic beverages on board the ship?

An opened beer can in the sand at the beach

Disney Cruise Line guests 21 years of age and above are permitted to bring a maximum of two bottles of unopened wine or champagne (with a size limit of 750 ml) or six beers (with a size limit of 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at every port of call. These beverages must be securely packed in carry-on luggage or a bag; they are not allowed in checked bags.

For round-trip cruises originating from sydney, melbourne, auckland, and brisbane, guests aged 18 and older have the same allowance - two bottles of unopened wine or champagne (not exceeding 750 ml) or six beers (not exceeding 12 ounces)., should guests wish to enjoy their brought-on wine or champagne in one of the dining rooms, a corking fee of $27.00 per bottle will be applicable..

What is the drinking age while sailing?

Person wearing a wide-brimmed hat holding their right hand in the air holding a tropical alcoholic beverage

The minimum drinking age on board is 21, and a valid photo ID is necessary.

However, on round-trip cruises departing from a european country with a lower drinking age, parents or guardians have the option to complete a beverage consent form. this form grants permission for their 18- to 20-year-old children to consume alcoholic beverages while under the supervision of an adult., moreover, for round-trip cruises originating from sydney, melbourne, auckland, and brisbane, individuals aged 18 and above can purchase and enjoy alcoholic beverages without needing parental consent. in the case of repositioning cruises between hawai'i and australia, parents or guardians can sign a beverage consent form, allowing their 18- to 20-year-old children to partake in alcoholic beverages while accompanied by an adult..

Non-alcoholic Beverages

Non-alcoholic day of the drink

Disney also offers non-alcoholic drinks that can be pre-purchased or while on board. These include:

- 6-pack non-alcoholic heineken ($36.25), - non-alcoholic cloudem - blue ($20 for the drink only), - 6, 12, or 24-pack of dasani (ranging from $15 - $60) or 6-pack of smart water in aluminum cans ($21.25).

Coca cola in a glass with ice and a palm tree in the background

One of my favorite perks on a Disney Cruise is that they include soft drinks, juice, milk, and regular tea and coffee in your cruise fare, so there is no need to purchase soda packages like you would on the other cruise lines mentioned initially. You can find a beverage station inside the buffet and outside on the pool deck. You can also order these drinks at the sit-down restaurants. However, there will be an additional charge for these beverages if ordered through room service, at the bars and lounges, or the movie theater concession stand.

Disney also offers specialty coffees and other specialty drinks like smoothies for an additional cost and a non-alcoholic drink of the day, which typically costs about $5 before tax and tip disney cruise tip: if you plan on purchasing five specialty coffees or more, consider asking for the coffee punch card when you order. after five coffees, your sixth one is free.

Happy Cruising!

Is There a Disney Cruise Drink Package?

Sharing is caring!

When you book a Disney Cruise, there’s plenty that will be included with the standard fare. However, you will need to pay for certain drinks separately while onboard.

Did you know that Disney Cruise Line is one of the few cruise lines that does not offer a traditional unlimited drinks package?

Instead, you can enjoy a great discount compared to paying for each individual drink.

If you’re looking for information on Disney Cruise drink packages, you’ve landed on the right post.

In this comprehensive guide, we’ll break down the mechanics of each drink package option and cover the wide variety of drinks that they offer.

disneycruisedrinkspackage

Overview of Disney Cruise Drink Packages

When we talk about a drinks package here, what we mean is the type of cruise drinks package where you pay a flat fee for each day of your cruise and you can have unlimited alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic beverages.

Like this Princess Cruise Drinks Package .

Join my Disney Cruise Group for Tips and Free Giveaways!

disneycruisecocktail

These all-inclusive drinks packages are often expensive and you have to drink a lot of alcohol to make it an economical choice.

If you buy this drinks package you can have up to 15 alcoholic drinks per day (!). There are certain exclusions to this, but the bottom line is that most drinks are included.

It doesn’t take anyone very long to work out why Disney may not want to be a cruise line which sells a package which some would say, encourages cruisers to drink excessively.

What To Pack For A Disney Cruise – Ultimate Tips and Hacks

disneycruisedrinkspackage

Who wants to be on a cruise where the guy on the table next to you is on his fifteenth drink of the day? Probably not those of us who sail on a Disney cruise.

There are no comparable Disney Cruise Drink Packages.

While some may be disappointed that there is no Disney cruise beverage package, we think that the price of drinks on a Disney cruise is very reasonable.

Also, Disney cruise lines have many non-alcoholic drinks included and available all day every day for no extra charge.

There are plenty of soft drinks, coffee, and tea served during meals and free at the Beverage Station.

Certain drinks and alcoholic beverages, on the other hand, will incur an additional charge. Guests will find a wide assortment of smoothies, specialty coffees, beers, unique cocktails, and a diverse selection of wines.

There are plenty of places that you can enjoy an adult beverage or two on a Disney cruise.

It’s just that Disney does not have the approach of many other cruise lines.

Here you can see a Guide to Disney Wonder Bars.

disneywonderdlounge

Here are some things you need to know about drinks onboard a Disney cruise.

Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy

Disney Cruise Line Alcohol Policy

Disney cruise lines have a generous policy relating to your taking your own bottles of wine and beer on board.

Disney Cruise Line Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port-of-call.

For the Australia and New Zealand cruises guests aged 18 and older can use this perk too.

I know some people try it but don’t be tempted to sneak alcohol onto a Disney Cruise.

They will find it and they will confiscate it.

disneycruisepalowine

This is a change from the previous policy where you could bring as much as you wanted.

However, it is still pretty generous within the cruise line industry where many lines do not allow you to bring anything at all on board without being charged.

You can enjoy the wine or beer in your stateroom. If you want to drink it in one of the restaurants there is a $25 charge.

You must put any wine or beer that you bring in your carry on luggage.

disney cruise liquor package

You can only bring wine or beer on a Disney cruise. There is no exception for bottles or miniatures of spirits such as vodka or gin. If you try and “smuggle” these onboard they will be found and confiscated.

We have written a complete guide to this policy which you can see by clicking on the link below.

Disney Cruise Line –  Can You Really Take Alcohol On Board?

Disney Cruise Wine Package

disneywinepackageprices

The closest that Disney comes to offering a drinks package is the Disney Cruise Wine Package.

There are two wine packages available for your Disney Cruise and you can purchase. You choose from either The Classic and the Premium Wine  Package. You can buy 3,4,5 or 7 bottles within the package.

All packages are available regardless of the length of the Disney cruise you are sailing on. So you can buy a 3-night package if you are sailing on a 7-night cruise. Or a 5-night package if you are sailing on a 3 night.

Disneycruisealcoholpolicy

Here are the prices for the Disney Cruise Classic Wine Package:

  • 3 Bottle Classic Wine Package $100.00
  • 4 Bottle Classic Wine Package $130.00
  • 5 Bottle Classic Wine Package $156.00
  • 7 Bottle Classic Wine Package $210.00

Here are the prices for the Disney Cruise Premium Wine Package:

  • 3 Bottle Premium Wine Package $150.00
  • 4 Bottle Premium Wine Package $199.00
  • 5 Bottle Premium Wine Package $244.00
  • 7 Bottle Premium Wine Package $320.00

A 15% service charge will be added to all Wine Packages.

disneycruisewinepackage

You can save up to 25% on the per bottle prices if you get the wine package. Some bottles are more expensive than others, and it is possible to work the system so that you get maximum savings.

You can see our complete guide by clicking on this link – Disney Cruise Wine Package – Is It Worth It?

Disney Cruise Drink of the Day

disneywonderdrinks

The Disney Cruise Drink of the Day is priced at a very reasonable $5.46 for the alcoholic cocktails which include a 15% gratuity.

There is always a non-alcoholic drink of the day which is priced at $4.89 including tax and gratuity. Note that tax is only charged if you order the drinks whilst you are in port. If you are out at sea this is not added.

The drinks of the day do vary but include Caribbean Dream, High Tide, Key Lime Margarita, Mai Tai, Paradise Cocktail, Pineapple Mojito, Stingray, and Yellow Bird.

Non-alcoholic drinks of the day include Lava Smoothie, Mango Crush, Mint Tea Punch, Parrot Song, Passion Cream Freeze, Princess Delight and Purple Basil Lemonade.

All of the Drinks of the Day are available in a souvenir cup for an extra charge. We usually get at least one of these as they make a nice souvenir to take home with you.

Disney Cruise Beer Mug

If you enjoy a beer once in a while this is a great deal.

You pay $16.95 for a Disney Cruise line glass beer mug. This includes 22 oz of whatever beer you want. Once you have paid for this you can get it refilled for the cost of a 16-ounce beer. So you are getting a free 6 ounces every time.

Don’t worry. You don’t have to carry around your beer glass. You have a token which you show at the bar so they know you bought the deal.

The glass mug makes a nice souvenir.

Disney Cruise Drink Specials

disney cruise liquor package

Drinks specials are not guaranteed, but they are often available on a Disney cruise. Always ask your bartender if there are any specials available.

hey are sometimes announced in your Navigator’s, but sometimes you may hit it lucky with an unadvertised deal, or one you may not have seen. It never hurts to ask.

Disney Cruise Beer Package

There is a Disney Cruise Beer Package which will give you a discount on a 6 pack of beer. You will pay for only 5 and get a 6 pack for $30. As with all Disney cruise beverages, you will have to add a 15% gratuity onto these prices.

The imported beer choices are:

6 Pack of Heineken Beer $30.00 6 Pack of Guinness Beer $30.00 6 Pack of Corona Beer $30.00 6 Pack of Pub Ale $30.00

If you prefer a Disney cruise domestic beer package here are your choices:

6 Pack of 16 oz Aluminum Bud Light $30.00 6 Pack of 16 oz Aluminum Bud Light Lime $30.00 6 Pack of 16 oz Aluminum Budweiser $30.00 6 Pack of 16 oz Aluminum Michelob Ultra $30.00 6 Pack of 16 oz Aluminum Miller Light $30.00 6 Pack of 16oz Aluminum Coors Light $30.00

How to Order a Disney Cruise Drinks Package

disneycruisedrinkspackage

The beer and wine drinks packages are easy to order when you are on board the ship. However, you can also pre-order any drinks package at Disney Gifts and Amenities .

It is so easy to order onboard though we never do this. However, it would be useful if you need to budget prior to the cruise and know that your expenses are already taken care of.

If you are a beer drinker another way to save money is with the Disney Cruise Beer Mug. You buy a 22oz glass Disney cruise beer much initially. For all subsequent 22 oz drinks, you buy you get a break on the price as you will only be paying for a 16 oz measure. Free beer every time!

What if you don’t want to carry your Disney Cruise beer mug around with you all the time. Of course, Disney already thought about this.

You will be given a beer mug toke to use instead of having to carry around the beer mug with you. Simply show the bartender your token and they will give you the 22 oz refill at a discount.

At the end of the cruise, you can use this to get a clean glass to take home with you as a souvenir.

Disney Cruise Free Soda

disneycruisefreesoda

This is one of the things which will save you a lot of money on a Disney cruise if you are a soda fan. Whilst other cruise lines charge up to $10 a day for soda packages, Disney gives you a lot of this for free.

The free soda is available in either the buffet or on the pool deck. you can serve yourself with as much as you want. The pool deck location is open 24 hours a day. Teens can also get these unlimited beverages in Vibe.

The selection includes:

  • HiC Fruit Punch
  • HiC Pink Lemonade
  • Fuse Ice Tea
  • Sprite Zero

If you want any of these in a bar you will pay for them. However, it is so convenient just to get them from the pool deck.

Coffee and tea are also available for free.

As you can see, really there is no such thing as a Disney Cruise Drink Package in the sense that other cruise lines promote them.

disneycruisealcohol

However, with Disney, you have the advantage that if you really don’t want to pay anything for soda, you don’t have to as it is free. Also, the wine package, drink of the day and beer mug can all save you money.

What you don’t have the choice of is the “all you can drink” alcohol package. Really we commend Disney for this.

It’s usually a way for cruise lines to make a lot of money on alcohol and we think it encourages the “get your money’s worth” mentality of over-consumption. Not what we want on a Disney Cruise! We think that it is just fine not to have Disney Cruise alcohol drinks packages.

What do you think of the fact that there is no Disney Cruise Drink Package? Should Disney introduce one?

Final Words

While the Disney Cruise Line does not offer a traditional all-in-one drink package, you can still find many ways to save money on beverage purchases!

Aside from being able to bring your own alcohol at every port of call, guests on board can help themselves to unlimited standard refreshments for free at the Beverage Stations.

When it comes to choosing the right beer or wine package at a Disney Cruise Line, we highly recommend assessing your consumption habits and balancing costs by setting a daily drink budget.

We have cruised other cruise lines and get the non-alcoholic drink package so we get unlimited fancy virgin cocktails. My kids have always loved this and consider this one of the highlights of our trips. I have always liked that it's prepaid so I don't have to worry about cost. And the non-alchohol packages are reasonably priced, less than $30 per day. They can also try something with no pressure to drink it. If they take a sip and don't like it, they can just get a different drink instead. If they take a sip and love it, they can have many more.

Agree completely - I don't go to Disney to drink, but a glass of wine with dinner or a margarita pool side will be great! Disneyland has been fine for all these years (except recently of course due to Star Wars area) without alcohol - keep it Walt friendly!

If you purchase a wine package do you still have to pay the $25 to drink it in the restaurants? If not, do you just bring it to dinner with you? How does this work? TIA

Tuesday 22nd of September 2020

Thank you for asking the question. If you purchase the wine package and are drinking that wine, no there isn't an additional charge. To order from your wine package you just ask your assistant server at dinner and they will assist you. If you don't finish the bottle that evening they will save it for you.

Does The Disney Cruise Line Have a Drink Package? (What You Need to Know)

Posted on Published: 03/12/2024

Since their entrance into the cruise market with the Disney Magic, Disney Cruise Line has revolutionized the cruise market for families. However, many of the adults cruising on DCL (and many adults do cruise without kids) wonder if there is a Disney Cruise Line drink package.

While there isn’t a traditional “all-you-can-drink” package, there are ways to save money on alcoholic beverages. Here’s our overview of Disney Cruise drink package options.

Disclosure: We’ve been on several media cruises with the Disney Cruise Line but have also paid for our cruises.

Disney Cruise Drink Package Options

Does disney cruise have a drink package.

Traditional cruise line drink packages offered by many major cruise lines allow you to pay one fee per day and get any included beverages at no additional cost. You can often get a deal on these packages, and sometimes, depending on the cruise line, it can be included in a package deal on your cruise.

Disney Cruise Line, however, does not offer this option. No beverage or alcohol package is offered that includes all of your drinks.

It’s important to note, however, that, unlike some cruise lines, a lot of non-alcoholic beverages are included in your cruise fare on the Disney Cruise Line.

This includes some juices, sodas, regular coffee, and tea (iced tea and hot tea). So while some cruise lines do offer non-alcoholic drinks packages (primarily for soft drinks), this isn’t offered or needed on the Disney Cruise Line.

You will need to purchase bottled water, although there are refill stations offered for free. There are also lots of opportunities to order multiple bottles of water at a lower cost – sometimes in a cooler bag.

To save money on water, I’d recommend bringing a refillable cup or bottle. While guests are asked to take a new cup with each refill at the beverage station, you can pour it into your refillable cup.

Specialty coffee is also offered at an additional fee at the Cove and other locations. You’ll receive a coffee punch card where you can get a complimentary coffee after purchasing five.

Available Beverage Options on Disney Cruise

So, are you wondering how to go about saving on drinks on a Disney Cruise? Several different beverage purchase options let you save money on drinks aboard the Disney Cruise Line. Some of these are purchased before embarkation day while others can be purchased at the beginning of the voyage.

Beer mug: If you plan to drink beer on board, the beer mug purchase can be a good option. To purchase this, you’ll need to buy in advance through onboard gifts and amenities .

You’ll receive a mug with a capacity of 21 ounces which can be used to buy draught beer refills at a 16 oz price. If you don’t want to carry around the souvenir mug, you can get little cards that offer the same discounted price without having the cup on hand.

I don’t drink beer, but saw so many of these cards being used on my last sailing. This option is popular, but you will want to make your purchase in advance.

There’s a similar option offered at Castaway Cay for mixed drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks). You’ll purchase a larger reusable cup and then can use it to get refills at the lower cost of a smaller drink.

Wine and dinner bottle package

Wine and Dine package: Like to have a bottle of wine with dinner? The Wine and Dine package can be purchased for 3, 4, 5, and 7-night cruises.

There are two different wine packages – a classic and a premium option. A card will be on your dinner table on the first night of your cruise listing the wine options offered under both packages. The Wine and Dine package will be purchased from your assistant server in any of the main dining rooms.

These packages claim to save you up to 25%. You can use the wine in any of the sit-down restaurants except for Remy and Enchante. A gratuity is added to the package.

Have leftover wine after dinner? You can either have it brought to your table the following night, or you can carry it to your stateroom.

Survival Beer Package: If you don’t purchase the beer mug in advance of your cruise, you still have an opportunity to save money on beer. The survival beer package, which can be purchased through the pool deck bars and other venues, offers a bulk purchase of beers.

There are three options, depending on the types of beer you like to drink. There’s a classic, signature, and premium package. In addition, you can choose how many beers you want – 6, 12, and 24.

Drink of the Day: While this isn’t a beverage package, it is a way you can save money on mixed drinks – both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Each day, there’s a drink of the day offered at a discount price. You can find the specific deals on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

Bring Your Drinks: Guests 21 and older are permitted to carry on their own drinks. Limits do apply – you can bring 2 bottles of unopened wine or up to 6 bottles of beer. These need to be in your carry-on bags – not your checked luggage.

A corkage fee will apply if you bring one of these bottles of wine to dinner. Here are all of the specific rules .

Martini glasses on table

Beverage Tastings: There are lots of opportunities for beverage-tasting classes throughout your cruise. These include wine tastings, mixology, martini making, and more. Sign up in advance on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app or once you are on board (availability will be more limited).

Tips For Purchasing Drinks

  • If you want to save money on alcoholic beverages, it’s a good idea to look at these options in advance to decide what you want to purchase. While most of these things can be bought on the cruise (and have to be bought on the cruise), the beer mug must be ordered in advance.
  • Even if you are flying in for your cruise, you can still bring your own drinks on board. Just stop at a nearby liquor store before arriving at the port.

6 Tips For Saving Money On Drinks During Your Disney Cruise

disney cruise liquor package

  • Cruises and Sailing
  • Disney Cruises
  • Types of Travel

If you’ve ever heard the rumor that Disney Cruise Line doesn’t serve alcohol, let me squash that for you now. This popular cruise line is ideal for families and multigenerational groups , but there’s still plenty of adult fun on board, including drinks.

First, let’s get the bad news out of the way. If you’ve sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, or any other major cruise line, you’re probably familiar with alcohol packages. Passengers pay a set rate per day – usually about $55 – for as many alcoholic drinks and soft drinks as they care to have.

Disney does not offer these all-inclusive, discounted alcohol packages, although it does include soft drinks on deck and in dining rooms in the price of the cruise, which may or may not be a consolation.

While some may see Disney’s lack of unlimited alcohol packages as a con, there are ways to imbibe on board and save money. I hope these tips help you enjoy your Disney cruise and get more bang for your bar buck. Cheers!

1. Bringing Your Own Alcohol On Board

Disney allows passengers to bring their own alcohol on board. Each passenger (21+) may bring two unopened bottles of wine (no larger than 750 milliliters) or six beers (no larger than 12 ounces) in their carry-on bag. Alcohol in checked luggage will be confiscated and not returned.

Make sure you pack your own corkscrew and bottle opener. Disney Cruise Line charges a hefty $25 uncorking fee to enjoy your own bottle of wine in the dining rooms. The alcohol policy also states beer and wine brought on board cannot be consumed in the lounges or public areas.

2. Look Into Beer Cards

If you enjoy draft beer, the Disney Cruise Line Beer Cards are a decent deal. You’ll pay a one-time fee of around $15 for a 21-ounce beer mug. This mug holds five ounces more than the 16-ounce pour you’ll get at the bar. You’ll still pay the regular price every time you get a beer, but you’ll get that extra five ounces each time.

If you’re afraid you’ll lose your beer mug or don’t want to carry it around when you’re not actively drinking it, turn it in at the bar in exchange for a card to keep in your wallet or lanyard. When you’re ready for another beer, present the card at the bar and you’ll receive the larger pour in a fresh mug.

Exchange your card for the mug at the end of your cruise to keep as a souvenir, or save the card for a future cruise — just put it somewhere you’ll remember. If you think you might lose your card, it’s best to go ahead and take your mug with you. If you opt to take your mug home, exchange it at one of the inside bars or lounges — you’ll get a nicer glass mug. If you exchange it on deck, you’ll get a plastic mug.

3. Don’t Forget The Beer Packages

Disney Cruise Line offers beer packages on embarkation day. You’ll see cast members on the pool deck selling these packages and if they see you drinking a beer, they’ll likely approach you about beer packages.

As of this writing, a six-pack of aluminum bottles is $33.75, which is slightly discounted from the per bottle price at the bar. On our most recent Disney Cruise (May 2022) we purchased six beers plus a souvenir insulated bag for $47.20. We took the bag and beers ashore at Castaway Cay, Disney’s island in the Bahamas, and got ice from the bar on shore to keep our beers cold at the beach. I like the bag and use it frequently at home and on the road. The amount we paid for the beers is less than what we’d have paid for the frozen drinks we’d have ordered if we didn’t purchase the beer, so that was a win.

4. Avoid The Wine Packages

If you enjoy wine with dinner, Disney Cruise Line offers wine packages in the dining room. Your server will present options on your first night. You can select from Classic or Premium packages. Premium is more expensive, with better quality wines — although “better quality” is relative. We recognized several names off the list of white wines from the wine sold in our local supermarket, and none retail anywhere near what Disney charges.

You can purchase wine packages in three-, four-, five-, and seven-bottle increments. On our recent three-night cruise, we purchased the three-bottle Classic package for $98 (Premium would have been $148.)  An 18 percent gratuity is applied.

I wasn’t happy with the quality of two of the wines and probably won’t purchase the package again. I didn’t compare wine list pricing against the wine packages, but in the future, I plan to bring wine from home or just order what I know I like and spend the extra money.

5. Hunt For Happy Hours

One of the best ways to save money on drinks on a Disney Cruise is to scout the happy hours. Download the cruise line’s app, the Disney Cruise Line Navigator , before you sail, and check the events daily once on board. On our last cruise, there were two to three happy hours daily. Each happy hour lasted an hour and was at a different bar or lounge. The discounts ranged from 30 to 50 percent off all drinks, so it’s definitely worth scouting these deals if you plan to drink.

There’s no rule that says you have to stay at the lounge where happy hour is happening. We ordered a discounted drink at one lounge and took it to the theater to see a show.

6. Try The Drink Of The Day

Most of the mixed drinks at the pool bar are around $8 each. There’s a full bar, so passengers can order any type of drink, but there’s a menu featuring the types of drinks you’d typically expect to sip while relaxing on deck, like mai tais, rum runners, and piña coladas.

There’s a designated drink of the day each day. The drink of the day will be announced in your Navigator app, or you can just ask any bartender. The drink of the day is around $5 each, so this is a fun way to save money.

Splurge-Worth Activities: Mixology And Beverage Tasting Seminars

While booking a Mixology class or beverage tasting seminar doesn’t count toward saving money on drinks during your Disney cruise, I wanted to mention these opportunities because they can be fun and book up very quickly, usually before embarkation.

Mixology classes are hands-on classes under the direction of a mixologist where the participants make the drinks. Beverage tasting seminars are exactly what they sound like — guided tastings where a sommelier or other expert guides you through tasting alcoholic beverages. Champagne, wine , rum, and beer tastings are available.

These seminars currently run $40–$50 per person, so they’re in the splurge category for most people, but they’re a fun way to meet other passengers and learn a little something. Book these activities when your window opens for shore excursions and other onboard activities.

Pro Tip: These are available for purchase prior to sailing, although there’s no discount for advance purchase. I recommend purchasing on board when you’ll have a better sense of what you’ll want.

Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy, Drink Packages, Wine

CruiseMapper logo

Bringing your own liquor onboard Disney cruises? It may be surprising, but Disney cruise alcohol policy is not as strict as the alcohol policies of other lines. The key to it is called "moderation".

Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy - drinking age, bringing liquor and wine on Disney ships

Disney cruise alcohol policy about drinking age (on all Disney ships and all itineraries) is 21. Disney Cruise Line doesn't prohibit passengers from bringing alcohol on board.

Disney Cruises alcohol policy, wine, drink prices, packages

Disney policy about bringing liquor onboard says that at embarkation you can bring your own liquor on board, but it is allowed to consume in cabins only. Alcohol brought by guests on board mustn't be consumed in any public or lounge area. Passengers who arrive in dining rooms with a bottle of champagne or wine will be charged $20.00 25.00 corking fee per bottle.

Disney cruise guests may bring only one unopened bottle of Champagne (wine), or six bottles (cans) of beer - per person. However, any fragile item (which includes alcohol) must only be hand-carried in carry-on luggage or a day bag which can't exceed 14" high, 22" wide, and 9" deep (or in centimeters, it's 36x56x23).

If you dare thinking about Disney cruise alcohol policy that yours is going to be a bag full of liquor fragile bottles that aren't going to break, you're wrong. Because obviously you have never seen the port luggage process - putting anything that is fragile in porters' hands is a disaster. Disney line's alcohol policy about fragile items (which include beverages) says that the line reserves right to remove them from checked luggage. In such a case, all fragile things will be stored, subsequently returned when the voyage ends.

NOTE: Starting Sept. 30, 2015, Disney Cruise Line limited how much beer and wine guests are allowed to bring onboard. Spirits and liquor are no longer permitted.

Passengers 21 years or older may bring a max of two bottles unopened wine or Champagne (less than 750 ml) or 6 beers (less than 12 ounces) on board a cruise ship of Disney at the beginning of the voyage, as well as at each port. Any beer, wine or Champagne in excess of this amount is taken and stored until the end of the cruise.

The beverages must be put in carry-on bags. Any booze found in checked luggage is removed and stored until the end of sailing. Any powdered alcohol, liquor or spirits found is also taken and stored. The confiscated alcohol must be picked up by travelers: it is not distributed to cabins. Those items that are not picked up, are destroyed; no compensation is offered.

Beer, wine, and Champagne brought on board may be consumed only in the dining room (a corkage fee of $25 is applied - up from $20), or in passengers' cabins.

Disney cruises beverage policy rules and allowance

  • Coolers aren't permitted on board except for passengers who need them for medication, items which are related to different dietary constraints, or baby food. Items have to be unopened, pre-packaged, and can't require food prep from the kitchen. Coolers with personal items (e.g. candy, soda, chips) must not be brought.
  • Homemade or pre-cooked items purchased on way to the Disney ship, containers with snack items or open bags won't be allowed to be brought on board. Disney ships refrigeration and storage aren't available to use.
  • Onboard Disney, the mark-up on wine is quite high, so if you have some bottles to drink at dinner, before going to the dining room better bring with you and cork in your room.
  • Check your wine local shop or shipping site for packaging options. You can use a wine shipper box.
  • Complimentary juices with in-room breakfast menu are available. So you can add a few orange juices or even request cranberry juice - leave them for later in the mini-fridge. The stateroom attendant will bring ice in a silver bucket. On the pool deck pop is available at 24/7 beverage complimentary station. So Coke for rum is taken care of.
  • Drink specials are available each day, so ask the bartender about the drink of the day. Or check the Personal Navigator - there is one with and one without alcohol, the price is discounted slightly.
  • You can bring purchased at ports of call liquor onboard but have to consume it in the cabin. The liquor purchased in Disney cruise ships duty-free shops must be held until the last night of your voyage.
  • Captain's cocktail party is open to all guests on formal night and provides a wide choice of complimentary drinks.
  • Disney cruise beer list onboard Disney ships is a wide choice- Yuengling, Coors, Samuel Adams, Michelob Ultra, Guinness, Heineken, Stella, Miller, Budweiser, and Blue Moon. Bottled beers list includes Miller, Bud Light, Bud Light Lime, Budweiser, Amstel Light, Heineken, Guinness, Newcastle Brown Ale, and Harp lager.
  • Specialty Bars on Disney ships vary from piano and sports bars to nightclubs and adults-only that serve martinis. The Disney onboard options to relax with cocktails are numerous.

Cruise drink packages: A line-by-line guide

Gene Sloan

It's easy to run up a monster bill ordering wine, beer and mixed drinks by the glass on a cruise ship. The cost of alcoholic drinks on cruise vessels — particularly cocktails — can be pricey. But for those who regularly order several alcoholic drinks a day when cruising, there's a way to save: a flat-fee drink package.

Nearly all the major mass-market cruise lines offer flat-fee drink packages that, in some cases, can save you money when cruising. The exceptions are Disney Cruise Line and Virgin Voyages , though both offer alternative ways to save on beverage purchases.

What's included in a cruise ship drink package, and how do they work? And, perhaps more to the point, how much do cruise drink packages cost? Read on for the answers in this ultimate guide to cruise drink packages.

For a line-by-line guide to drink package costs, inclusions, limitations and fine print, scroll to the second half of the guide.

What is a drink package on a cruise ship?

Cruise ship drink packages let you order as many drinks as you want while on a cruise for one flat fee. This takes the place of paying for drinks one at a time.

At some lines, there are several tiers of drink packages. Basic tiers often include just sodas and bottled water. More elaborate (and expensive) tiers will add alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails, wine, beer and specialty coffee drinks. In some cases, there will be more than one tier of such all-encompassing plans.

Some lines also offer coffee cards that let you get a fixed number of fancy coffee drinks at a shipboard coffee bar for a discounted price. Some also offer wine-specific packages.

How much do alcoholic drink packages cost on cruise ships?

The cost of cruise ship drink packages varies widely by line. At several of the biggest cruise brands, including Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America , the main drink packages that include all types of drinks cost about $60 per person per day. Other brands, such as Norwegian Cruise Line , charge as much as $138 per person per day for a top-tier package.

Drink packages that don't include alcoholic drinks, such as soda packages, typically cost far less. Soda packages often are under $10 per person per day. Note that some cruise lines discount drink packages if you buy them online in advance of sailing, and others offer periodic sales on their drink packages online.

Can you buy drinks on a cruise without a drink package?

disney cruise liquor package

Yes. All major cruise lines will let you buy drinks on an a la carte basis when cruising. You don't need a drink package to be able to drink alcoholic beverages or any other type of beverage on a ship.

Can you share a drink package on a cruise ship?

In many cases, no. Several of the biggest cruise lines, including Carnival, Holland America and MSC Cruises, have a rule that if one adult in a cabin orders a drink package, all adults in the cabin must order the package. This is to prevent two or more people in a cabin from sharing a single drink package.

Two lines that notably don't have such a rule are Princess Cruises and Windstar Cruises . Technically, you are not supposed to use your package to buy drinks for other people.

Are drink packages on cruise ships really unlimited?

It depends. Some cruise lines, such as Carnival, limit the number of alcoholic drinks that any one person can order using a drink package to 15 in a day. That is, of course, an enormous number — more than most people will ever want to order.

Where can you use a cruise ship drink package?

Cruise ship drink packages generally are honored anywhere you can order a drink on a ship — think bars, lounges and eateries. However, you usually can't use them when ordering room service. They also generally don't apply to drinks taken out of cabin minibars. Be sure to check the fine print in your particular line's drink package before placing an order for a drink to your room.

Some cruise lines also let you use your packages when visiting their private islands .

Cruise Drink Packages: Your Options by Cruise Line

C ruise drink packages can provide incredible value for people who plan to regularly imbibe on their voyage and want the convenience of an unlimited open bar package – whereas they may not be a good deal for light drinkers. Other options include alcohol-free drink packages, which let cruisers indulge in soft drinks, hot chocolate, specialty coffees and a range of other nonalcoholic beverages.

Whether or not to get the drink package is a question all cruisers face, and there's no perfect answer for everyone. Read on to learn about the drink packages offered by the major cruise lines and what each beverage package includes.

Expert tip: The price of each beverage package will vary from sailing to sailing and may change at any time. Also note that cruise drink packages are almost always nontransferable and nonrefundable, and that everyone in your cabin needs to buy a package. If kids are cruising with adults who purchase an alcoholic drink package, a nonalcoholic package must be purchased for them.
