However, it will not set at below 25mph. In addition, the feature disconnects when the brake is applied. Enable Cruise Control:

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow

Helps maintain a constant vehicle speed and a set following-interval behind a vehicle detected ahead of yours and, if the detected vehicle comes to a stop, can decelerate and stop your vehicle, without you having to keep your foot on the brake or the accelerator.

Improper use of ACC with Low Speed Follow can lead to a crash.

Use ACC with Low Speed Follow only when driving on expressways or freeways and in good road and weather conditions.

ACC with Low Speed Follow has limited braking capability and may not stop your vehicle in time to avoid a collision with a vehicle that quickly stops in front of you.

Always be prepared to apply the brake pedal if the conditions require.

ACC with Low Speed Follow Conditions and Limitations

• On roads with frequent lane-change or continuous stop and go traffic, ACC with Low Speed Follow cannot keep an appropriate distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.
• On roads with sharp turns.
• On roads with toll collection facilities or other objects between lanes of traffic, or in parking areas, or facilities with drive through access.
• On roads with bad weather (rain, fog, snow, etc.), ACC with Low Speed Follow may not detect the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you properly.
• On roads with slippery or icy surfaces. The wheels may spin out and your vehicle may lose the control on the condition.
• On roads with steep uphill or steep downhill slopes.
• On roads with undulating slopes.

How to activate the system

To Set the Vehicle Speed

When driving at about 25 mph (40 km/h) or above: Take your foot off the pedal and press the RES/+ / SET/- switch up or down when you reach the desired speed. The moment you release the switch, the set speed is fixed, and ACC with Low Speed Follow begins.

When you use ACC with Low Speed Follow, Straight Driving Assist (a feature of the Electric Power Steering system) is activated.

When driving slower than about 25 mph (40 km/h): If the vehicle is moving and the brake pedal is not depressed, pressing the switch fixes the set speed to about 25 mph (40 km/h) regardless of current vehicle speed. If the vehicle is stationary, you can set the vehicle speed even with the brake pedal depressed.

When ACC with Low Speed Follow starts operating, the vehicle icon, interval bars and set speed appear on the gauge.

Customized Features Defaulting All the Settings

When in Operation

Exiting a vehicle that has been stopped while the ACC with Low Speed Follow system is operating can result in the vehicle moving without operator control.

A vehicle that moves without operator control can cause a crash, resulting in serious injury or death.

Never exit a vehicle when the vehicle is stopped by ACC with Low Speed Follow.

• The vehicle ahead of you is going at almost the same speed as, or faster than, your vehicle.
• A vehicle that cuts in front of you is going faster than your vehicle, gradually increasing the interval between the vehicles.

• When the vehicle ahead of you moves away, such as when entering an interchange or rest area, ACC with Low Speed Follow may continue to maintain the set following-interval for a short time.

There is a vehicle ahead

ACC with Low Speed Follow monitors if a vehicle ahead of you enters the ACC with Low Speed Follow range. If a vehicle is detected doing so, the ACC with Low Speed Follow system maintains or decelerates your vehicle’s set speed in order to keep the vehicle’s set following-interval from the vehicle ahead.

To Set or Change Following-interval

When a vehicle whose speed is slower than your set speed comes in or cuts in front of you and is detected by the radar and the camera, your vehicle starts to slow down.

There is no vehicle ahead

Your vehicle maintains the set speed without having to keep your foot on the brake or accelerator pedal.

On steep downhill during ACC with Low Speed Follow, it brakes to inhibit excessive acceleration for maintaining the set speed. However, the vehicle speed may become faster than the set speed.

When you depress the accelerator pedal

You can temporarily increase the vehicle speed. In this case, there is no audible or visual alert even if a vehicle is in the ACC with Low Speed Follow range.

A vehicle detected ahead is within ACC with Low Speed Follow range and slows to a stop

Your vehicle also stops, automatically. The Stopped message appears on the gauge.

If no vehicle is ahead of you before you resume driving, depress the accelerator pedal and ACC with Low Speed Follow will operate again within the prior set speed.

The system may automatically shut off under certain conditions. Some examples of these conditions are listed below. Other conditions may reduce some of the ACC with Low Speed Follow functions.

Environmental conditions

• Driving in bad weather (rain, fog, snow, etc.).

Roadway conditions

• Driving on a snowy or wet roadway (obscured lane marking, vehicle tracks, reflected lights, road spray, high contrast).

Vehicle conditions

• The outside of the windshield is blocked by dirt, mud, leaves, wet snow, etc.
• An abnormal tire or wheel condition (incorrect sizes, varied sizes or construction, improperly inflated, compact spare tire, etc.).
• The camera temperature gets too high.
• The parking brake is applied.
• The front grille is dirty.
• The vehicle is tilted due to a heavy load or suspension modifications.
• Tire chains are installed.

Detection limitations

• A vehicle suddenly crosses in front of you.
• The interval between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you is too short.
• A vehicle cuts in front of you at a slow speed, and it brakes suddenly.
• You accelerate rapidly and approach the vehicle ahead of you at high speed.
• The vehicle ahead of you is a motorcycle, bicycle, mobility scooter, or other small vehicle.
• There are animals in front of your vehicle.

• A vehicle ahead of you stops and the speed difference between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you is significantly large.
• An oncoming vehicle suddenly comes in front of you.
• Your vehicle abruptly crosses over in front of an oncoming vehicle.

• The vehicle ahead of you brakes suddenly.

• Your vehicle or the vehicle ahead of you is driving on one edge of the lane.

To Adjust the Vehicle Speed

Increase or decrease the vehicle speed using the RES/+ / SET/– switch on the steering wheel.

• Each time you press the RES/+ / SET/– switch up or down, the vehicle speed is increased or decreased by about 1 mph or 1 km/h accordingly.
• If you keep the RES/+ / SET/– switch pressed up or down, the vehicle speed increases or decreases by about 5 mph or 5 km/h accordingly.

Press the Interval button to change the ACC with Low Speed Follow following-interval.

Determine the most appropriate following-interval setting based on your specific driving conditions. Be sure to adhere to any following-interval requirements set by local regulation.

The higher your vehicle’s following-speed is, the longer the short, middle, long or extra long following-interval becomes. See the following examples for your reference.

When your vehicle stops automatically because a vehicle detected ahead of you has stopped, the interval between the two vehicles will vary based on the ACC with Low Speed Follow interval setting.

To cancel ACC with Low Speed Follow, do any of the following:

Automatic cancellation

The beeper sounds and a message appears on the driver information interface when ACC with Low Speed Follow is automatically canceled. Any of these conditions may cause the ACC with Low Speed Follow to automatically cancel:

• Bad weather (rain, fog, snow, etc.)
• When the radar sensor behind the Honda emblem on the front grille gets dirty.
• The vehicle ahead of you cannot be detected.
• An abnormal tire condition is detected, or the tires are skidding.
• Driving on a mountainous road for extended periods, or driving off road.
• Abrupt steering wheel movement.
• When the ABS, VSA ® , CMBS TM , or Low Speed Braking Control* is activated.
• When the ABS or VSA ® system indicator comes on.
• When the vehicle is stopped on a very steep slope.
• When you manually apply the parking brake.
• When the detected vehicle within the ACC with Low Speed Follow range is too close to your vehicle.
• When accelerating rapidly.
• The camera behind the rearview mirror, or the area around the camera, including the windshield, gets dirty.
• When the Maximum Load Limit is exceeded.
• When passing through an enclosed space, such as tunnel.
• The vehicle has repeatedly applied the brakes to maintain the set speed (for example, you are descending a long slope).
• When the system doesn’t detect any driving actions from the driver for a certain amount of time while the LKAS is also activated.
• When the parking brake and brake system indicator (amber) comes on.

The ACC with Low Speed Follow automatic cancellation can be also triggered by the following causes. In these cases, the parking brake will be automatically applied.

• The driver’s seat belt is unfastened when the vehicle is stationary.
• The vehicle stops for more than 10 minutes.
• The engine is turned off.

To Switch ACC with Low Speed Follow to Cruise Control

Press and hold the interval button for one second. Cruise mode selected appears on the driver information interface for two seconds, and then the mode switches to Cruise.

• Green: The system is on.
• White: The system is standby.

• When the vehicle speed is set.
• When ACC with Low Speed Follow is not activated.

When to use

Desired speed in a range above roughly 25 mph (40 km/h).

Take your foot off the pedal and press the RES/+ / SET/- switch up or down when you reach the desired speed.

When you use cruise control, Straight Driving Assist (a feature of the Electric Power Steering system) is activated.

Each time you press the RES/+ / SET/- switch up or down, the vehicle speed is increased or decreased by about 1 mph or 1 km/h accordingly.

If you keep the RES/+ / SET/- switch pressed up or down, the vehicle speed increases or decreases by about 5 mph or 5 km/h accordingly.

To cancel cruise control, do any of the following:

• When vehicle speed is less than 25 mph (40 km/h)

Adaptive Cruise Control beeps - how to disable

One of the constant nagging items for me since getting the CRV (apart from not being able to set the number of blinks when you flick the blinker) has been beeps you get when using the cruise control as the car locks in and out of another vehicle ahead. I'm still conditioned to panic and look for a problem on the dash when I hear a beep so to me the noise was either distracting or irritating enough to force me to try to ignore it. Anyways, if anyone else is in the same boat - you can disable the beep by going to the home screen on the head unit, choose settings then vehicle. Under the ACC section you will see the option to turn off the beep. You will still get visual confirmation of a vehicle lock/unlock status on the dash but the car will not inundate you with beeps as you make your way through the highway. Disclaimer - Obviously honda decided to enable this by default as a warning indicator so you'll need to decide for yourself if you'd prefer to have the audio warnings or not.

I turned it off at one point and found it way more scary since I wasn't sure if the ACC actually locked onto the car in front or not without looking on the dash. That's when I turned it back on.  

To take this a step further, can you disable the adaptive part of the cruise control in favor of the "old style" type of cruise control? I find that when I'm behind someone, the adaptive feature will keep me at a predetermined distance, but that in turn will slow you down and lull you into a slower speed than you intended. I find that I am constantly changing lanes when someone pulls in front of me so I don't have to fiddle with the cruise and keep a constant speed.  

Pushing and holding the distance button will switch between ACC and old fashion "Cruise Mode"  

Personally, I disabled the "ACC can't see a car" beep, while leaving on the LKAS beep. I did this because I generally know (by looking out the windshield) if there's something for ACC to lock on to, while I don't necessarily pay super-close attention to the quality of the stripes on the road. If the car really wants you to know something due to a problem, it's a much angrier beep.  

I don't think I noticed a LKAS beep. When does it beep? I do wish it turned on automatically instead of having to press the button every time I get on the highway.  

It beeps whenever it turns off, whether due to losing the lane, going below 45, or turning the windshield wipers to On.  

That's weird. I have a 2018 EX and get no beeps from the LKAS when it goes below 45 or stops detecting the lane. I wonder if it's different on other years or trims.  

Mine was off at the factory and some dolt at the dealer reset it....Way overdue to shut the thing off. Thanks for the reminder!  

I've found different years to have different defaults set in the vehicle settings - might be that dealers are setting the defaults differently but I can't imagine they'd want to take on the responsibility on changing safety options. I do know that on a couple of test drives we went through and changed/played with lots of settings in the vehicle section and I doubt the dealer would go back and reset everything to factory defaults afterwards. Whoever bought that car is probably trying to figure out why honda took away the tachometer on Gen V.  

The LKAS beep is under Vehicle -> Driver Assist System Setup -> Lane Keeping Assist Suspend Beep (It defaults to Off)

Earlier, we reported that Russian guided bombs had struck the northeast Ukrainian region of Kharkiv, killing two people.

The number of injured has risen to six, including an 11-year-old boy, Oleh Syniehubov, the regional governor said. 

He said a 64-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were killed while driving their car.

Also injured was a 50-year-old man and 41-year-old woman, who received medical treatment.

More than 20 cars were damaged and a house was destroyed.

Why are Ukraine finding it so hard to completely destroy the Kerch Bridge? DC

Europe's longest bridge connects Russia to the city of Kerch in Crimea, which was illegally annexed from Ukraine by Moscow in 2014.

The bridge runs over the Kerch Strait and is the only direct road link between Russia and the annexed peninsula. 

It consists of a separate roadway and railway - fortified by concrete stilts - which give way to a wider span held by steel arches at the point where ships pass between the Black Sea and the smaller Azov Sea.

On 17 July 2023, the Ukrainians attacked the Crimean bridge with two suicide sea drones, damaging a span of the road bridge. 

The explosions killed two civilians and injured one . Ukraine later formally admitted to launching the attack.

Resilient bridge design

Although the road surface was damaged, the supports remained intact.

Despite the impressive capability of "smart" weapons, some bridges are very difficult to destroy due to their design.  

The opposite is also true: The cantilever design of the Baltimore bridge in the US that was struck by a container ship on 26 March led to its collapse.

In contrast, individual spans on the Kerch Bridge can be damaged or destroyed with limited impact on the structural integrity of the rest of the bridge, so the focus of any military strike would be the concrete stilts, which would take longer to repair or replace.

Although the Kerch Bridge provides a vital conduit for Russian military resupply lines, the Ukrainians have shown they have the capability to deny its use - at least temporarily - to Russia's military forces.  

Focus closer to home - for now

Although Ukraine is struggling to contain Russia's latest offensive efforts on the frontline in the Donbas, at some stage Ukraine might decide to focus its offensive efforts on Crimea.

Most analysts believe Ukraine would struggle to liberate Crimea completely, but the strategically important port of Sevastopol is a centre of gravity for Vladimir Putin - something he will not want to lose.

Ukraine does not have a navy, but has successfully targeted the Russian Black Sea Fleet and pushed it further east.

That leaves Crimea relatively exposed, and if Ukraine were to mount a serious assault against the occupied enclave, that would be the time to exploit the lessons learned from previous attacks against the Kerch Bridge to deny its use for any Russian reinforcements.

For now, Ukraine is focusing its limited weapons on specific strategic targets, which might eventually include a more determined attack against the Kerch Bridge.

Starting tonight, Estonia will close a border crossing with Russia nightly after an influx of migrants and asylum seekers.

The Narva-1 crossing will close between 11pm and 7am local time each night, the Estonian public broadcaster, ERR, reported.

The crossing connects the two countries via a bridge over the Narva River. 

Marek Liiva, head of the border crossing, told ERR that anyone who is left on the bridge after 11pm will still be seen by border control and allowed to cross. 

Using a splintered piece of wood for stability and wearing a pair of slippers on her feet, a 98-year-old Ukrainian woman managed to escape Russian-occupied territory. 

Lidia Stepanivna Lomikovska and her family decided to leave the frontline town of Ocheretyne, in the eastern Donetsk region, last week after Russian troops entered and fighting intensified.

The elderly woman became separated from her son and two daughters-in-law while fleeing, but she kept going to reach Ukrainian lines. 

She walked along one of the main roads for six miles (10km) without food or water. 

"Once I lost balance and fell into weeds. I fell asleep… a little, and continued walking. And then, for the second time, again, I fell. But then I got up and thought to myself: 'I need to keep walking, bit by bit,'" Ms Lomikovska said.

She was reunited with her family after being taken to a shelter for evacuees.

A senior Russian defence official has reportedly been questioned by the Federal Security Service after the detention of one of his colleagues on bribery charges. 

Ruslan Tsalikov is the "number three" in Moscow's defence ministry after Sergei Shoigu, the minister, and chief of the general staff Valery Gerasimov, the UK defence ministry says in its intelligence update today.

He was reportedly pulled in for questioning after the arrest of deputy defence minister Timur Ivanov, his close ally, on 21 April.

As first deputy defence minister, Mr Tsalikov ranks above Ivanov.

Ivanov is accused of accepting large bribes and will be kept in custody until 23 June after appearing at a Moscow district court last week.

He was in charge of property management, housing, construction and mortgages at the ministry - whose spending has spiralled since the Ukraine war began.

A number of defence ministers have already been questioned or detained after Ivanov's arrest. 

The Russian military claims it has attacked the headquarters of the Ukrainian army's southern grouping. 

The attack was carried out using Russian air force missiles and artillery, Moscow's defence ministry said. 

It gave no further details about the attack but said that Russian forces were improving their positions along the entire frontline. 

Ukrainian forces defending Chasiv Yar have said they are desperately waiting for more ammunition to arrive from the US. 

Oleh Shyriaiev, commander of Ukraine's 225th Separate Assault Battalion, which is fighting in the eastern city, called specifically for long-range weapons.

He said they would "cut [Russian forces] off from logistics and supplies".

Commander Shyriaiev also called for cluster munitions, which are banned by a number of countries over the danger they pose to civilians. 

Earlier, we reported that Russian troops appear to be concentrating advances in the direction of Chasiv Yar - which is 80km north of Avdiivka.

If captured, the city would give the Russians a better opportunity to target towns and cities further to the west.

At least two people have been killed after Russian guided bombs struck the northeast Ukrainian region of Kharkiv. 

A man and a woman were killed in their car as they travelled in the village of Zolochiv, Oleh Syniehubov, the regional governor, said. 

A man, 77, and a woman, 74, were injured after three fires broke out after the strike.

Ten homes were also damaged. 

The region of Kharkiv has been under intense fire by Russian forces targetting energy infrastructure.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said yesterday that his country needed a "significant acceleration" in the delivery of weapons to enable its troops to push back advancing Russian troops in several parts of the frontline.

The Ukrainian security service (SBU) is today conducting counterintelligence measures in a Kyiv district.

Officials will inspect some buildings and premises searching for unspecified prohibited items, the SBU said. 

The district of Shevchenkiv, including the Sofiyska and Mykhailivska squares in the old part of the city, is the main focus of the operation.

Checks will also be carried out on citizens, some of who may be asked to show identification documents and observe curfew.

The SBU said the national police force and the military law and order service will be involved.

An American man has admitted plotting to smuggle sensitive drone technology worth more than $250,000 (£200,000) into Russia.

Nikolay Grigorev, 36, pleaded guilty yesterday after more than 11,500 electronic components were stopped from going to Russia. 

He faces up to five years in prison.

Lisa Monaco, deputy attorney general in New York, said: "The justice department will continue to hold accountable those who defy our sanctions and export controls to support Russia's unprovoked and unjustified aggression in Ukraine - whether they're based in New York City or overseas."

The justice department said it is still searching for two other people connected to the case.
