Neil Young + Crazy Horse Announce Love Earth Tour

Today, Neil Young + Crazy Horse have announced their 2024 tour – Love Earth Tour . Produced by Live Nation, the run kicks off with two nights at San Diego’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre on April 24 & April 25 then continues with stops across North America in Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, New York, Toronto, Chicago, and more.

TICKETS: Tickets will be available starting with a Neil Young Archives presale beginning on Tuesday, February 13 at 1 PM ET . Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general onsale beginning on Friday, February 16 at 10 AM ET at Livenation.com . At time of purchase, fans can opt in to receive a physical CD of the Neil Young + Crazy Horse new album FU##IN’ UP included with their tickets for no additional cost.

FU##IN’ UP reveals Neil Young + Crazy Horse in all their ragged glory, playing songs from their long relationship. Neil and The Horse have played together for over 50 years and the performances of these familiar songs, recorded in 2023, is a true highlight. As Neil explains, “In the spirit it’s offered…made this for the Horse lovers. I can’t stop it. The horse is runnin’. What a ride we have. I don’t want to mess with the vibe. I am so happy to have this to share.”  FU##IN’ UP   contains 9 songs on 2 LPs. The album will be released in limited edition color vinyl pressing on Record Store Day April 20 with a wider, all format release starting  April 26 . For further details go to  NYA . Neil Young and Crazy Horse Kick Off Love Earth Tour in San Diego

Neil Young & Crazy Horse are back on the road in the USA with the 2024 kicking off with two shows in San Diego this week.

Crazy Horse 2024 featured Billy Talbot on bass, Ralph Molina on drums and Micah Nelson, Willie’s son and Promise of the Real member on guitar, replacing Nils Lofgren. Lofgren is on tour with The E Street Band.

‘Love Earth’ had one glaring omission on the first show. The title ‘Love Earth’ was not in the setlist. ‘Love Earth’ was the title track of the most recent Neil and Crazy Horse album from 2022. There was nothing from the two most recent Crazy Horse albums, ‘Love Earth’ and ‘Barn’. You have to go back 28 years for the newest song in the setlist, ‘Scattered’ from 1996’s ‘Broken Arrow’.

Neil’s latest album of reused songs ‘Fu##in’ Up’ was the centrepiece of second show with five tracks out of the 14 song setlist. ‘Fu##in’ Up’, released this week (26 April), so a remake of the 1990 ‘Ragged Glory’. Why? Who knows how Neil’s mind works sometimes. Maybe he was inspired by all those Taylor Swift ‘Taylor’s Version’ cash grabs.

The first show on Wednesday 24 April 2024 was more about ‘Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere’ from 1969 with four songs out of the 14 from that iconic album of Neils.

The both shows kicked off in true elongated Crazy Horse glory with a 15 minute version of ‘Cortez The Killer’. The electric set ended with a similarly long ‘Love and Only Love’ and just to keep the jam going, show one also had a 15 minute ‘Down By The River’.

The show was divided into two parts with Crazy Horse grunge at the start followed by Neil in acoustic mode with the band back for the encore.

Neil Young played his “Love Earth Tour” kick-off show with Crazy Horse at San Diego’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre on Wednesday night (April 24th).

The 14-song setlist primarily consisted of Young’s most beloved hits, including “Down by the River,” “Cortez the Killer,” “Cinnamon Girl,” “Powderfinger,” and “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black).” Notably, “Cortez the Killer” featured Young singing some of the song’s original lyrics from a manuscript that he only recently rediscovered .

A portion of the show also saw Young perform solo acoustic renditions of “Heart of Gold,” “Comes a Time,” and “Human Highway.” Check out the full setlist and videos from the opening night of the “Love Earth Tour” below.

The Crazy Horse touring lineup features Young accompanied by guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Billy Talbot, and drummer Ralph Molina. Nelson is filling in for Nils Lofgren, who is currently on tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

This past weekend, Young and Crazy Horse released their new album,  FU##IN’ UP , on a limited edition color vinyl for Record Store Day ahead of its wide release this Friday, April 26th.

In typical Neil Young fashion, virtually nothing was revealed about his 2024 U.S. tour before it kicked off Wednesday night at San Diego’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre, other than the fact he’d be backed by Crazy Horse , and that Micah Nelson would be taking over guitar duties from Nils Lofgren. Would he pull a Greendale and debut an entire rock opera nobody had ever heard? Would he focus the set around the three new studio albums he cut with Crazy Horse between 2019 and 2022? Might he repeat the concept of his 2023 solo tour by spotlighting obscure Eighties and Nineties album tracks and skipping most of his hits?

They jammed for six minutes before Young sang the opening lines, igniting the crowd into a frenzy, but the big moment came near the end, when he began singing completely unfamiliar words. As he teased earlier this month , it was the legendary lost segment of the song that failed to record during the 1975 Zuma sessions because the console briefly lost power. Young recently found the lyric manuscript, and worked out where they originally fit in the song.

“I floated on the water,” Young sang. “I ate that ocean wave/Two weeks after the slaughter/I was living in a cave/They came too late to get me/But there’s no one here to set me free/From this rocky grave/To that snowed-out ocean wave.”

It was a remarkable moment to witness. After 49 years and over 540 live performances, the world finally got to hear the song as Young originally wrote it.

Young was talking about “Scattered (Let’s Think About Livin’),” from 1996’s Broken Arrow, which was the newest song they played all evening. The rest of the set was music recorded when Briggs was alive, largely between 1969 and 1979, beginning with “Don’t Cry No Tears.” He followed it up with a triple shot of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere : “Down by the River,” “The Losing End,” and the title track. And it was a particularly mesmerizing “Down by the River” that stretched out for 16 blissful minutes.

After the Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere mini-set, the quartet (Crazy Horse 4.0?) kicked into one of the greatest renditions of “Powderfinger” I’ve ever heard, thanks to improvisational guitar work prior to each verse by Young and Nelson. What came next was a 16-minute “Love and Only Love,” the band walking offstage, and then Young strapping on an harmonica rack for solo acoustic renditions of “Comes a Time,” “Heart of Gold,” and “Human Highway” that had the entire amphitheater singing along.

The band returned to wrap up the night with “Don’t Be Denied,” an autobiographical tale that carries a lot more emotional weight when Young sings it at age 78 as opposed to 28, and a thrashed-out “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black).”

Neil Young + Crazy Horse Announce 2024 ‘Love Earth Tour’

Neil Young +   Crazy Horse have announced a run of spring 2024 shows billed as the Love Earth Tour . The 16-show amphitheater run, produced by Live Nation , marks the first full tour for Young and his long-running, on-and-off backing band in a decade.

The Neil Young + Crazy Horse 2024 Love Earth Tour is set to kick off with two shows in San Diego, CA on April 24th and 25th before making its way to Phoenix, AZ (4/27), Austin, TX (5/1), Dallas, TX (5/2), Huntsville, AL (5/5), Atlanta, GA (5/7), Franklin, TN (5/8), Bristow, VA (5/11), Camden, NJ (5/12), Queens, NY (5/14), Mansfield, MA (5/17), Bridgeport, CT (5/18), Toronto, ON (5/20), Clarkston, MI (5/22), and Chicago, IL (5/23). Neil Young + Crazy Horse are also scheduled to perform at the second weekend of  New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans, LA (5/4).

Neil Young + Crazy Horse have been relatively active in the studio in recent years—they recorded three albums over the past five years (2019’s Colorado , 2021’s Barn , and 2022’s World Record )—but have largely shied away from performing live. In 2023, they performed a pair of intimate shows at West Hollywood, CA’s  The Roxy in honor of the venue’s 50th birthday in addition to a show at  Rivoli in Toronto.

The Crazy Horse band lineup has shifted gradually since forming in the 1960s. The most recent version of the band’s lineup featured Neil Young (guitar, vocals) alongside Ralph Molina (drums), Billy Talbot (bass), and  Nils Lofgren (guitar).  Micah Nelson , the son of  Willie Nelson who performs under the moniker  Particle Kid , also joined the band for the two 2023 shows at The Roxy. While the band lineup for the  Love Earth Tour has not been officially announced, Lofgren will be on tour with  Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band during that time, leading fans to speculate that Nelson will take his place for the run.

In addition to announcing the tour, Neil Young + Crazy Horse have announced a new live album, FU##IN’ UP , recorded in 2023. As Young explained of the coming release in a statement, “In the spirit it’s offered… made this for the Horse lovers. I can’t stop it. The horse is runnin’. What a ride we have. I don’t want to mess with the vibe. I am so happy to have this to share.”

The album, comprised of nine songs spread across two LPs, will be released in limited edition colored vinyl for  Record Store Day on April 20th ahead of its multiple-format general release on April 26th. More information on  FU##IN’ UP can be found on  Neil Young Archives .

Neil Young Announces 2024 Love Earth Tour With Crazy Horse

Neil Young and Crazy Horse will hit the road later this year, launching the Love Earth Tour on April 24 in San Diego.

From there, the band will make their way East across the U.S., making stops in cities like Dallas, Atlanta and New York City, plus one Canadian date in Toronto. The tour will wrap on May 23 in Chicago.

You can view a complete list of dates below.

A presale will begin on Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. EST, followed by additional presales and general onsale on Feb. 16. More information will be available via Young's website .

New Music From Neil Young

Young has also announced a new album, also with Crazy Horse, titled  FU##IN’ UP . When fans purchase tickets for the upcoming tour, they'll be able to opt in to receive a physical CD copy of the LP for no additional cost. It will be released in limited edition color vinyl pressing on Record Store Day, April 20, with an all format release on April 26.

"In the spirit it's offered…made this for the Horse lovers," Young said in a press release. "I can't stop it. The horse is runnin'. What a ride we have. I don't want to mess with the vibe. I am so happy to have this to share."

Neil Young & Crazy Horse Extend 2024 Tour: How To Get Tickets

F olk rock legend Neil Young and his long-collaborating band Crazy Horse announced their upcoming Love Earth Tour a few months ago. The tour is set to kick off tomorrow, and the artists have recently extended the US and Canada tour with a few more dates! The new dates will bring Young and the band to brand new dates in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado. If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, don’t worry. We’ll give you the details on scoring seats.

The first stop on the Crazy Horse and Neil Young 2024 Tour will be in San Diego, California on April 24 at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre. The tour is expected to close on September 29 in Hollywood, California at Hollywood Bowl.

The majority of tickets and tour dates for this trek are available for general sale. For the newly announced dates, fans can get in on the artist presale event by visiting Neil Young’s website starting today. There will also be presale events on Ticketmaster for the new dates starting on April 25 at 10:00 am local.

Pearl Jam, Neil Young with Crazy Horse top the 2024 Ohana Festival lineup

Ohana Festival curator and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has announced the lineup for the eighth Ohana Festival, which is scheduled to return to Doheny State Beach in Dana Point for a three-day weekend Sept. 27-29.

Headlining the first and third night in celebration of its newest album, “Dark Matter,” Pearl Jam is set to play on Friday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept. 29, and Neil Young & Crazy Horse on Saturday, Sept. 28.

This year, the Ohana Festival will feature more than 35 artists, including Alanis Morissette, Turnpike Troubadours, Garbage, Maren Morris, Black Pumas, Idles, Jenny Lewis, The Breeders, Crowded House, Pillow Queens, Dogstar, Bad Nerves and more.

Last year’s Ohana Festival was headlined by The Killers, Eddie Vedder and The Foo Fighters. The artists perform across three stages with additional programming inside The Cove where the Storyteller’s Stage is located. The Cove is where concert fans can attend panel discussions by environmentalists, pro surfers, conservationists and researchers to learn about protecting and preserving the ocean and the beaches, as well as a variety of other charitable causes and volunteer efforts.

Ten Club Presale tickets went on sale today, with general presale beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday. Three-day, single-day and VIP options will be available at ohanafest.com.
