- Trivia The movie is considered to be a futuristic version of the 1954 William Golding novel Lord of the Flies (1990) .
- Goofs The outer airlock hatch is left open for two minutes and twenty seconds, minimum, after the antagonist explosively opens the inner airlock hatch. The air rushes past the individuals in the lock at a high rate of speed, rapidly depressurizing the ship (as evidence by ship warnings declaring emergency oxygen is being released into the ship). This goes on and on, while the heroes spend a lot of time struggling with Zac. In reality, the wind would die down quickly, and a good portion of the ship would be in a severely depressurized atmosphere in a very short time, causing almost immediate loss of consciousness for anyone not holding their breath (which Zac clearly was not doing, as he can be heard grunting and gasping for breath while struggling).

They are really working to overthrow the caretaker so that they can find the chance to become the most powerful force in the region. The main character in this book is female captain Janeway. She has a mission to fulfil and this is the reason why she has been sent to carry out the investigation. She wants to find what exactly happened to the small ship known as the Maquis in which the security Liutenant Tuvok chief was infiltrated. In the process of investigation, the crew first point of landing was the Bad Lands. This is after tracking the last location of the engine emissions. The space is very unpredictable and turbulent as described by the crews. The voyager is suddenly pulled about 75,000 light years just from home on the opposite side of the galaxy. This occurs in the process of still trying to track the maquis ship. Due to the risky conditions, we find that most of the crews are seriously injured while others are killed during this this small trip. Among the killed officers are the voyagers’ nurse, chief engineering and first officer doctor. After this incident, the caretaker is somehow convinced by the strike of both maquis and Janeway to return them to the territory federation. Despite this threat, he finds it impossible because he wants to protect the people of Ocampa that is a nearby planet. Time then comes when the caretaker is almost dying, hence he doesn’t have any time for Janeway. Instead of aiding her, he request her to destroy the array once he is dead. The caretaker wants the array destroyed because he fears that the Kazon may use it against the people of Ocampa. The problem now remains on Janeway because she has a decision to make in life. By destroying this array implies that she, the crew plus the ship and her won’t be able to get home but instead takes another 70 years to reach. On the other hand, if she doesn’t destroy the array, then it implies that the helpless people of Ocampa will all die. She therefore has to make the best decision of either saving the people of Ocampa or saving her life plus her crew and ship. Sci-Fi Series Inspired By Indiana Jones Is A Throwback To Television’s Best Era
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the greatest movies in history, so taking inspiration from Harrison Ford’s world-traveling archeologist would be a no-brainer. Except that’s not what happened with this fun-loving SyFy series; instead, the very last shot of the film with the gigantic warehouse filled with recovered artifacts inspired Warehouse 13.
The series was infused with more pure 80s goodness by way of the Bruce Willis show Moonlighting, and even today, 15 years after it premiered, Warehouse 13 is the perfect guilty pleasure.
A Series About Where Artifacts Are Stored
When Warehouse 13 hit the air in 2009, sci-fi shows on television were getting darker and leaning into vast conspiracies, such as Lost, V, and Battlestar Galactica. SyFy went the opposite direction with the series, which, from the first episode to the last, is filled with hope, optimism, and characters trying to become better people, and it’s all the better for it.
Character Archetypes Done Perfectly
Warehouse 13 starts out with a pair of Secret Service agents, Peter (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly), being recruited as the new field agents for the Warehouse, located in South Dakota, under the supervision of Artie (Saul Rubinek), the knowledgable curator, and supported by Leena (Genelle Williams), an aura-reading bed and breakfast owner. At the start of Season 2, Claudia (Allison Scagllioti) joins as a permanent cast member, while ATF agent Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) starts appearing in Season 3.
Formulaic Television Carried By The Cast
While Warehouse 13 uses the standard procedural formula of having to solve an artifact-related issue each week, everyone on the cast and every guest star fully understood the assignment.
Pete is the rule-breaking agent who wants to be a sauve ladies’ man but is a puppy dog, while Myka is the book-smart rule follower, and so, of course, there’s chemistry between them. Artie steps in as a father figure for Claudia, but really, the series can take any pair of characters and work a whole episode around the different personalities bouncing off one another.
Sometimes, all a show needs to be a success is well-written characters and a willingness to lean into the inherent fun of science fiction instead of trying to prove how, this time, it’s different.
Wild Artifacts From Throughout History
The artifacts that the team collects are all normal items that have been infused with power, like a Christmas ornament from World War 1 that became empowered on the day that the soldiers stopped fighting and celebrated the Holiday together.
The binoculars used by the crew of the Enola Gay, which dropped one of the atomic bombs, is another artifact. No matter how random or obscure the trivia may get, Warehouse 13 somehow makes it interesting, even to the point of famous director Cecille B. Demille’s riding crop featuring in a few episodes.
No other show will turn an invasion of dancing girls from the musical 42nd Street into a harrowing experience.
Famous Guest Stars
Though the artifacts are fun, as you never know what may come up, the guest stars keep the good times going with a lot of Star Trek veterans making appearances, from Deep Space Nine’s Rene Auberjonois to Voyager’s Jeri Ryan and Kate Mulgrew (playing Pete’s mom), and the always game Brent Spiner. Warehouse 13 even confirmed the SyFy shared universe by crossing over with Eureka (after the dimension shift) and Alphas (which also had a Brent Spiner guest appearance).

REVIEW SCORE
Science fiction shows don’t have to be all about examining the meaning of human existence; they can be fun, hopeful, and optimistic, too. Warehouse 13’s rapid-fire banter, fun use of history, and well-developed characters make it stand out for those looking for something different. The series is available on Amazon Prime and also video on demand through AppleTV and Vudu.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Returning Cast & New Character Guide
I love the symmetry of star trek: discovery’s beginning & final episodes, why star trek’s "incredibly optimistic" next show is set in discovery’s timeline explained by executive producer.
- Captain Burnham secures final clue in mindscape, while Rayner & Booker search Eternal Gallery in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 8.
- Reference to Neelix & Talaxian people hints at their whereabouts post-Star Trek: Voyager, connecting past and present in Star Trek lore.
- Possible Talaxian future in Star Trek: Prodigy season 2, signaling a potential return of Neelix and further exploration of their story.
A passing reference to Star Trek: Voyager 's Talaxian people in Star Trek: Discovery reveals what happened to Neelix (Ethan Phillips) after he left the USS Voyager. In Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 8, "Labyrinths", written by Lauren Wilkinson & Eric J. Robbins, and directed by Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour , Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) travels to the Eternal Gallery and Archive, the largest collection of historical and cultural artifacts in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. By the end of Discovery season 5, episode 8 , Burnham secures the final clue to the location of the Progenitors' treasure by navigating her own mindscape.
With Captain Burnham stuck inside her own mind, and a Breen Dreadnought laying waste to the Eternal Gallery and Archive, it's up to Commander Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie) and Cleveland Booker (David Ajala) to try finding the final clue first. Scanning through library records, Book doesn't find the clue but does find a nod to Star Trek: Voyager character Neelix, and the Talaxian people. The Talaxians haven't been seen since Voyager ended , so this brief reference provides a welcome update on both Neelix and his people.
As Burnham seeks the universe's greatest treasure in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, she'll need help from a host of new and returning characters.
Star Trek: Discovery’s Talaxian Reference Reveals What Happened To Neelix After Voyager
"a comprehensive guide to talaxian hair styles".
Attempting to speed up the search for the final Progenitors' clue, Commander Rayner suggests scanning the reading list of Betazoid scientist Dr. Marina Derex for hints. Accessing the records, Book concedes that she " just loved learning new things " and the books had no bearing on the location of the final clue. One of the books that Book references is A Comprehensive Guide to Talaxian Hair Styles . While this is clearly a throwaway nod to Star Trek: Voyager 's Neelix, the presence of the book in the Eternal Gallery and Archive does suggest what happened to him and the Talaxians.
The Talaxians are just one of many Star Trek: Voyager references in Star Trek: Discovery season 5. Other references include the Krenim, Seven of Nine, and the USS Voyager-J.
The book confirms that the Talaxians made it far beyond the Delta Quadrant after Star Trek: Voyager ended , and that they submitted items to the Eternal Gallery and Archive. In Star Trek: Voyager season 7, episode 23, Neelix left the USS Voyager to live in a Talaxian colony located on an asteroid . However, he maintained regular contact with the crew as their ambassador to the Delta Quadrant. As Starfleet introduced proto and quantum slipstream drives in the late 24th century, it would make it far easier for Neelix and other Talaxians to hitch a ride and make the trip to the Alpha Quadrant.
Could Star Trek Bring Back Neelix’s Species?
Will we see neelix on netflix.
There have been a few Talaxian references in the modern franchise from Star Trek: Discovery 's Talaxian book, to the references to Neelix in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, episode 1, "Twovix". Neelix also briefly appeared in one of the non-canon Star Trek animated shorts , Very Short Treks episode 4, "Holograms All The Way Down". However, aside from this, there haven't been Talaxians on-screen in any of the modern Star Trek shows. The obvious home for a Neelix or Talaxian cameo is in Star Trek: Prodigy , which returns to Netflix later in 2024.
Star Trek: Prodigy

Star Trek: Prodigy is the first TV series in the Star Trek franchise marketed toward children, and one of the few animated series in the franchise. The story follows a group of young aliens who find a stolen Starfleet ship and use it to escape from the Tars Lamora prison colony where they are all held captive. Working together with the help of a holographic Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), the new crew of the USS Protostar must find their way back to the Alpha Quadrant to warn the Federation of the deadly threat that is pursuing them.
Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 will see Admiral Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and the crew of the USS Voyager-A travel to an alternate future to save Captain Chakotay (Robert Beltran) . Robert Picardo is reprising the role of the Doctor for Prodigy season 2, and other cameos have been promised. This feels like an ideal opportunity to bring back the Talaxians, and provide an update on what Neelix has been up to. While Prodigy viewers may meet an alternate future version of Neelix instead, it will still build on Star Trek: Voyager 's Talaxians in a more substantial way than Star Trek: Discovery 's affectionate nod.
Star Trek: Discovery season 5 continues Thursdays on Paramount+.
Star Trek: Voyager
The fifth entry in the Star Trek franchise, Star Trek: Voyager, is a sci-fi series that sees the crew of the USS Voyager on a long journey back to their home after finding themselves stranded at the far ends of the Milky Way Galaxy. Led by Captain Kathryn Janeway, the series follows the crew as they embark through truly uncharted areas of space, with new species, friends, foes, and mysteries to solve as they wrestle with the politics of a crew in a situation they've never faced before.
Star Trek: Discovery
Star Trek: Discovery is an entry in the legendary Sci-Fi franchise, set ten years before the original Star Trek series events. The show centers around Commander Michael Burnham, assigned to the USS Discovery, where the crew attempts to prevent a Klingon war while traveling through the vast reaches of space.
