Little Monsters, Rejoice! The Chromatica Ball is Finally Happening

After two agonizing years without Lady Gaga roaming the planet performing new music, the Chromatica Ball will finally hit stadiums worldwide this summer.

The pop star announced the 15-show tour on Monday, simply writing “LADY GAGA / THE CHROMATICA BALL / SUMMER STADIUM TOUR” in captions across social media accompanying the eye-popping tour flyer (which, if we’re being honest, is a little hard to read.)

The tour will kick off July 17 at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany, with the star hitting stadiums across Europe and Canada before landing in the U.S., ultimately concluding at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on September 10.

The tour marks the pop singer’s first all-stadium tour ever, and with the exception of her Las Vegas residency and a few one-offs with her old pal Tony Bennett, her first return to the stage since the conclusion of the Joanne World Tour in 2018. 

Although the tour’s 15 dates may seem a bit truncated for a pop star beloved the world over, it represents a significant expansion from the original run that was announced back in March 2020 , shortly before the release of Chromatica . That tour contained only six dates, with two in Europe, one in Canada, and three in the United States.

While it’s been four years since Gaga last toured and nearly two years since Chromatica dropped, she’s kept plenty busy. For one, Gaga spent 75% of the last two years in character as Patrizia Reggiani, the convicted socialite she portrayed in the deliciously campy House of Gucci.  

Despite her commitment (and an admittedly excellent performance), Gaga was snubbed at the Oscars , failing to secure a nomination for Best Actress. Ever the gracious performer, though, she extended congratulations to Frederic Aspiras, who received a Best Makeup and Hairstyling nomination for his work on House of Gucci , which included the film’s myriad wigs . 

It remains to be seen whether Gaga’s stint of being possessed by the spirit of a social-climbing Italian murderess will have any impact on her forthcoming tour. But if you, like me, miss the unhinged energy of her early performances , one can only hope so.

Two weeks after the cancellation of her “Fame Kills” tour with Kanye West , Lady Gaga has announced the details of a solo tour and revealed the tracklist for “The Fame Monster,” the re-release of her debut album due Nov. 23.

Described by Gaga as “the first-ever ‘pop electro opera,'” “The Monster Ball” tour kicks off Nov. 27 in Montreal, Canada and will hit North American 16 cities before ending with a two-night stand Jan. 20-21 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

“A message to all my little monsters: ‘The Fame Monster’ will come out four days before the first live show,” said Gaga in a statement. “You have exactly 96 hours to learn all of the lyrics so you can sing along. Dress accordingly.”

Rapper Kid Cudi — a protege of West who recently released his debut album, “Man on the Moon: The End of Day” — will open for Gaga on “The Monster Ball” tour.

“The Fame Monster” will feature a second disc with eight new songs, including “Bad Romance,” which Gaga premiered at the Alexander McQueen show during Paris Fashion Week. “The Fame” has sold 1,517,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Gaga first announced her plans to hit the road solo on Oct. 2 at Billboard’s Women in Music event , where she accepted the Rising Star award. The news came just one day after her “Fame Kills” tour with West was cancelled because, according to Gaga, West would be “taking a break” in light of fallout from his incident with Taylor Swift at the MTV VMAs.

Exactly two weeks after Lady Gaga and Kanye West’s Fame Kills Tour was canceled, The Fame singer has revealed the dates for her solo jaunt, called The Monster Ball Tour . “The Haus of Gaga had been designing ‘The Monster Ball’ for premiere in 2010 at the O2 Arena in London, but due to diligent work and preparation, ‘The Monster Ball’ will begin on November 27 in Montreal,” Gaga wrote on her official Website. ” ‘The Monster Ball’ is a multimedia artistic experience in the style of the first-ever ‘pop electro opera.’ “

The 22-date trek finds Gaga performing at much smaller, more intimate venues than those that were booked for the Fame Kills Tour. For example, instead of performing at Uniondale, New York’s Nassau Coliseum, the Monster Ball Tour will wrap up with Gaga performing two hometown shows at Radio City Music Hall. Gaga has been a staple at New York’s more famous theaters in recent months, performing at Radio City during the VMAs and then Carnegie Hall for the all-star An Evening with Gavin Friday & Friends benefit concert.

The Manifesto of Little Monsters is a text written by Lady Gaga and first released on The Fame Monster (Super Deluxe) inside the Book of Gaga . During The Monster Ball Tour , there is an interlude, known as the Monster Film where she reads a slightly modified version of the script.

It's their prolific nature that both creates and procures what will later be perceived as the "kingdom." So, the real truth about Lady Gaga fans lies in this sentiment: They are the kings. They are the queens. They write the history of the kingdom, while I am something of a devoted Jester.

It is in the theory of perception that we have established our bond. Or, the lie, I should say, for which we kill. We are nothing without our image. Without our projection. Without the spiritual hologram of who we perceive ourselves to be, or rather to become, in the future.

Lady Gaga Put Her Paws Up, Performed ‘Monster,’ Fulfilled Dreams at Chromatica Ball

Girl, you better Düssel do ! Lady Gaga’s world tour, the Chromatica Ball, finally kicked off in Germany on Sunday, July 17, starting a summerlong fest of paws up all around the world. The track list, while appearing to omit classic bangers such as “Marry the Night” and all that makes up the ARTPOP discography, still included many legendary Mother Monster bops including “Bad Romance,” “Shallow,” and the perfect finale song, “Rain on Me.” Yet the most thrilling parts of what we’ve seen of Gaga’s set thus far might be her homage to 2009’s The Fame Monster era: an epic and nostalgic performance of “Monster.”

Gaga’s outfit was an updated nod to the 2010 VMA’s “meat dress” while giving “Judas” music video circa 2011:

The performance was very much resonant of older Gaga live performances — over the top, wacky, giant sunglasses, a little bloodyish — most notably her 2009 VMA performance of “Paparazzi.”

Perhaps the most crucial signal to Little Monsters? Her “paws up.”

Two years of waiting stans, two reschedules, and probably 1 billion Chromatica Oreos later, New York’s hottest club is officially the Chromatica Ball. However, Beyoncé in “Telephone” cameo when?

The Rolling Stones opened their Stones Tour ’24 Hackney Diamonds on Sunday to a sold-out crowd of more than 70,000 fans at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The Stones played just three new tracks from the album, choosing to focus instead on classic hits including “Start Me Up,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Satisfaction,” according to a press release. The decision to focus on older material was not unsurprising for a group with more than six decades of songs to choose from.

It was the rockers’ first performance of material from their 2023 effort “Hackney Diamonds” since the album’s surprise release at the 600-seat club Racket in New York last October. (Fans and celebrities packed that tiny venue expecting merely a Stones show and instead were treated to a breadth of new songs — and a Lady Gaga cameo.)

As the tour rolls on, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and company plan to make stadium stops in Glendale, Ariz.; Las Vegas; Seattle; East Rutherford, N.J.; Foxboro, Mass.; Orlando; Atlanta; Philadelphia; Cleveland; Denver; Chicago; Vancouver; Inglewood; and Santa Clara.

When the Stones hit SoFi Stadium this summer, they’ll be accompanied by the War and Treaty on July 10 and the Linda Lindas on July 13.

“Hackney Diamonds” is the rockers’ first studio album of original material in nearly two decades, following 2005’s “A Bigger Bang.” It’s also the Stones’ first LP since the death of founding drummer Charlie Watts in 2021. It’s the first time the band has been on the road since its 60th anniversary tour in 2022, and the tour will also feature a stop at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on May 2.

“Charlie was one of the funniest guys I’ve ever known,” Richards told Times music critic Mikael Wood in 2021, “and the most unlikely man to be famous. He hated that side of the job and used to savagely take the piss out of it.”

When “Hackney Diamonds” game out, Wood wrote in his album review, “The songs blend the same ingredients the Stones have been using since the beginning — blues, rock, soul, country, gospel — but they’re tighter and punchier than on any of the band’s previous late-era LPs.”

Meanwhile, according to Rolling Stone , back at the Houston concert one fan said, “People say Joe Biden is too old to be president. They need to look at Mick!”

That said, the Rolling Stones’ 48th tour is sponsored by AARP.
