How many people will be in the vehicle? Our vehicles take 16 to 20 passengers only. We keep our numbers small to create a more personalised experience. Note that during busy periods we often have more than one vehicle touring in the Daintree, so you may see a couple of busses out and about!

Can we do a private charter? Yes! Private charters are available with personalised itineraries and price on application, enquire now!

What if I have dietary requirements? All dietary requirements must be notified at the time of reservation, or at least 48 hours' notice before travel. We cater for vegetarians and most other requirements within reason and providing they are of a medical nature.

Is the tour wheelchair / disabled-friendly?

Due to the remoteness, the ruggedness of the area, steps and uneven ground on the National Park Boardwalks and into Emmagen Creek, passengers must be able to take walking steps by themselves or with the aid of their own carer. Wheelchairs must be small compact collapsible chairs as space is limited. This must be checked at the time of reservation and confirmed at least 48 hours prior to the tour. Billy Tea Staff are unable to assist with any lifting or assistance due to insurance liability and not being the authorised carer.

What level of fitness is required?

The Daintree Rainforest Tour requires a beginner's level of fitness. The boardwalk tour through the rainforest with your guide is at a very leisurely pace and is approximately a 1km round trip. If you prefer to wait for the group to return, there is a seating area at the entrance of this boardwalk for you to wait for the group to return.

Is Wifi available? No, due to the remoteness of the area, we can not provide WiFi in our vehicles. This may also mean limited mobile reception throughout the day as well.

What our customers say:

"Loved this! A very full day with lots of variety in nature. Steven our guide was excellent and we learned so much about Australian history, plants and the land throughout the day. Excellently organised, professional guides. I would certainly recommend this as a great way to see and learn about the area." - Kendra R, via TripAdvisor

"I highly recommend this trip. Gavin, our tour guide, was excellent in telling us about the culture, the history of the area and of course the nature we passed through. The mix of driving, short walks, stops, bbq, ice cream and fruits, a quick swim and boat trip gave a good variety to the day. We really had a great and interesting day!" - Gabben, via TripAdvisor

"I went on the one day Daintree trip with Hirani as a guide. We had a party of 4 adults one child (with special needs). We (adults) have all done a significant amount of international travel, really quite a lot. We all just wanted to pay tribute to Hirani - she is truly excellent. Great attitude, happy, friendly and an immense amount of knowledge about the area, wildlife, history, indigenous culture etc. Hirani is as good a guide as any of us have seen, and we have done hundreds of tours all around the world. With Hirani working for you, people will keep coming back and word of mouth will just spread. An excellent job Hirani, and thank you to Billy Tea Tours." - Regards Jonathan Ryan , Hanh Tran, Brett and Kate Bonser, Darcy Ryan

"The journey and 4x4 were extremely comfortable and the day was well-paced. Lunch was excellent and the Billy Tea by the creek particularly stood out as an experience. Would definitely recommend!"  - I689HL, via TripAdvisor

CAPE TRIBULATION

tour cape tribulation daintree

WHERE THE RAINFOREST MEETS THE REEF

Cape Tribulation is the picturesque headland area within the Daintree National Park, a scenic 2.5hours drive north of Cairns and a 1.5hrs drive north of Port Douglas.

It is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world and was included in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area in 1988.

The Eastern Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people are the Traditional Owners of Daintree National Park, with their country extending from near Cooktown, south to Mossman. Many natural features of the landscape have spiritual significance for the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people. They welcome you to their country and ask that you respect their special place.

Cape Tribulation is an ecotourism destination, renowned for it’s lush scenery, offering a combination of remote sandy beaches and the world’s oldest rainforest, covering the mountains sweeping down to the coast.

Both rainforest and beaches can be explored by self-guided tours and trails, with options of discovering the area through guided walks, reef trips, or even flying foxes, horse rides and sea kayaks to paddle the coastline. For more information, visit destinationdaintree.com .

MOUNT SORROW

Mount Sorrow is a superb adventure for experienced and fit walkers. Allow six hours, take plenty of water, and expect to be rewarded with rainforest-clad mountains, spectacular views of Cape Tribulation Beach, fringing reef and the stunning Coral Sea.

Always check the weather as paths can be slippery after heavy rains, and only attempt the hike during day time.

Daintree Rainforest Tours Walks - Jindalba Boardwalk

Then it is off to Jindalba Boardwalk for your interpretive nature walk through the majestic rainforest.

Your informative rainforest tour guide will explain to you the history of this monumental forest, as well as the native plants and animals that flourish all around you and make the place so well loved by notables such as Sir Richard Attenbororough.

He is well known for his comment that the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef are his most favourite places on the planet, and two of the most remarkable places on the planet that need to be preserved for the future of both man and beasts survival.

The bird life and animal life varieties are here in abundance and a lot of them very rare and unique to only this region of rainforests in Australia.

Lunch at Cape Tribulation Beach House

Lunch is the next stop of this unique rainforest tour, and you will head to Cape Tribulation beach house.

Famous Bloomfield 4 Wheel Drive Track

Swimming at Emmagen Creek

Swim in the fresh waters of Emmagen Creek if you are brave enough to withstand the crisp waters.

Emmagen Creek is the northernmost point of your Daintree Rainforest day tour, and as the afternoon closes in it is now time to turn around and head back towards Cairns.

Cape Tribulation Beach

There are two more fascinating stops on the way back, the first one being Cape Tribulation Beach.

Cape Tribulation Beach is the one pictured in many postcards around Cairns and the Tropical North, and the famous place where all the greenies stopped the loggers from destroying this highly important and pristine rainforest from extinction in the early 80's.

This stunning beach features the only spot in Queensland where two World Heritage attractions unite, the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage-listed rainforest.

Stroll along the chalky sand beach and gaze out to the Coral Sea and Snapper Island on the horizon.

A Tropical Daintree Ice Cream As The Finale

After crossing the Daintree River by ferry, if there is spare time you will stop into the Daintree Ice Cream Factory.

This place will delight ice cream and non ice cream lovers alike with unique flavours such as sapote, wattle seed, soursop, mango, banana, coconut and more.

All the fruits used to make the ice cream have been locally grown on the property and you can taste up to four different flavours at once and it is all natural.

Finally as the day winds down to an end, board the four wheel drive truck and make yourself comfortable, perhaps take a much needed nap, on the leisurely drive back to Port Douglas or Cairns or keep that camera snapping with the fantastic coastal views from this remarkable section of the Captain Cook Highway, also known as the Great Barrier Reef Drive.

Loved it :) I have done this particular tour before (3 years ago) and I decided to do it again with my husband. I like the fact that Billy Tea Safari's go to Emmagen Creek for the fruit tasting / swim / paddle. Its such a beautiful spot. The weather wasn't the best but we managed to dodge most of the rain. I have done approx 6 different Cape Trib tours which were all great but this is my favourite and we will probably do it again if we come back up. The only issue we had was that Andres (?) our guide from Argentina (I think) was very hard to understand sometimes.

Reviewed on July 04, 2016

We had a wonderful time on this tour and it was the highlight of our weeks holiday in Cairns. Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to billy tea safaris and our tour guide Finn in particular. His knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for the daintree really made the day agreat experience. Five stars.

Journey with us to the oldest rainforest on earth.

This premium full day tour includes the Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge and Port Douglas. It takes in the best bits of lush tropical rainforest, cascading rivers and the iconic Cape Tribulation beach, the only place on earth where two natural World Heritage listed sites, the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforest, exist side by side. This tour operates daily with pick-ups from Cairns, Northern Beaches and Port Douglas.

Dear Valued Customers, Due to the impact from Tropical Cyclone Jasper and the associated flooding across the region, we have had to modify our itinerary. Inclusions: All travel, including an informative commentary by an accredited tour guide. Mossman Gorge. Daintree River Cruise. Daintree Rainforest Walk. Cape Tribulation Beach. *Lunch, refreshments and all attractions and activities mentioned. *

This premium full day tour has pick-ups in Cairns, the northern beaches and Port Douglas. Where you commence your journey, will impact the itinerary slightly. For those being collected in Cairns and the beaches, the day begins with a trip along the scenic Great Barrier Reef Drive, to Port Douglas. The road hugs the mountain side and we stop at Rex Lookout to enjoy stunning views of the Coral Sea. From here, we cruise to Port Douglas, picking up any extra guests and stopping at Flagstaff Hill which overlooks 4 Mile Beach.

The next stop is Mossman Gorge, where we refresh with local tea, coffee or a cold drink, before exploring this secluded gorge and rainforest paradise. The cool, clear waters of Mossman River tumble through and over giant granite boulders. We’ll take a guided walk and you have the opportunity for a swim, should you wish to do so. We then enjoy a quality restaurant lunch, with a choice of meals available, before stepping aboard boat to take a 1-hour cruise on the Daintree River. Keep your eyes peeled for crocodiles and other local wildlife.

Driving on to the Daintree River Cable Crossing, it’s a short ride over and into the ancient Daintree Rainforest. Alexandra lookout provides panoramic views over the Daintree delta, river and out to the Coral Sea. We then wander beneath the ancient rainforest trees on a guided botanical walk, learning more about the biodiversity of the amazing ecosystem.

Cape Tribulation is where the rainforest meets the reef and you can take it all in from the Kulki Lookout. This is the most northern point of our day tour adventure, so from here we begin the journey home, but not before pausing at a local Daintree Ice-Cream Company where you can purchase locally made tropical ice-cream (at your own expense).

If your return destination is Port Douglas, we’ll get you into town around 5.30pm. Cairns and the northern beaches a little later. One amazing day in our very own, natural paradise.

Cape Tribulation

If you’ve ever wanted to see what Australia looked like when dinosaurs roamed, Cape Tribulation is where you’ll find out.

Cross the Daintree River and enter the Daintree Rainforest , a world untouched by urban development, noise and air pollution. Disconnect from the bustle, breathe in the purity and explore your natural surroundings. Here in Cape Tribulation, this breathtaking coastal region is the very spot where the world’s oldest rainforest collides with the spectacular Great Barrier Reef .

Here in Cape Tribulation, we like to have epic off-road adventures. Hike or mountain bike ride through rainforest tracks, take a dip in the chilled rainforest swimming holes or explore the rugged terrain of the Bloomfield Track by 4WD. Ancient stories whisper through the leaves of Cape Tribulation, just as they have for centuries. Exhale as you emerge from the rainforest to isolated beaches, with the fringing Great Barrier Reef only a toe-dip away.

Ever wondered what it was like when dinosaurs roamed? When it comes to planning the perfect Cape Tribulation holiday, it's easy to be captivated in all the options. Cape Tribulation, Mossman & Daintree – Private Tour

tour cape tribulation daintree

Embark on a captivating journey with your own private local guide who will whisk you away in a luxurious sedan from your Hotel or Resort. The adventure kicks off with a scenic drive along the Great Barrier Reef Drive, accompanied by enthralling narratives and historical tales from your knowledgeable guide.

Our first stop entails a 1-hour shared cruise along the mighty Daintree River , where you’ll unravel the secrets of the delicate ecosystem shared by unique flora and fauna, including the elusive Saltwater Crocodile.

After crossing the river, venture into the heart of the rainforest to savor a photo opportunity at Alexandra Lookout, where breathtaking views span across the rainforest canopy to the Coral Sea.

Following this, you’ll indulge in a delectable lunch amidst the lush rainforest in an open air restaurant.

The journey continues to the historically significant Cape Tribulation named by famous British navigator Lieutenant James Cook,  where you can explore the secluded beachfront while your driver-guide imparts tales of its rich Australian history.

A sweet interlude awaits at the Daintree Ice Cream Company , where you’ll relish a refreshing fruit ice cream crafted from exotic fruits grown in their on-site organic orchard.

Cross the river once more via ferry and proceed to Mossman Gorge for afternoon tea. Immerse yourself in the ancient rainforest during an interpretive walk with your guide, gaining an understanding of its cultural significance to the local Kuku Yalanji people.

Finally, your memorable excursion concludes at your accommodation.

Image of views of rainforest-clad slopes sweeping down to meet the long, sandy beach at Cape Tribulation.

Wander through rainforest to a viewing platform that overlooks the beach and gaze at views of densely rainforest-clad slopes sweeping down to meet the shore. Here, rainforest meets reef, and two world heritage areas collide.

Along the way, keep an eye out for Bennett's tree kangaroos and cassowaries. Look for buff-breasted paradise kingfishers and listen to pied imperial-pigeons, cooing and rustling about in the canopy. At the lookout, spot dugongs, turtles, dolphins and whales out on the horizon.

This park is part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area , famed for its exceptional natural beauty, outstanding examples of the record of life, evolutionary history and remarkable diversity.
