How to apply family visit visa in Saudi Arabia?

Expats with any Iqama profession can apply for a family visit visa and bring their family to KSA. In this article, we have explained the updated process to apply for a family visit visa in Saudi Arabia in 2024.

Who is eligible for a family visit visa?

The family visit visa can be applied for only the following people in Saudi Arabia. While relation 1-4 listed below is approved for everyone, relation 5-9 would be approved only if you have a good Iqama profession.

• Wife/Husband.
• Parents-in-Law.
• Grand Parents.
• Brother and his family (wife and children).
• Sister and her family (husband and children).
• Sister-in-Law (sister of the spouse). 
• Brother-in-Law (brother of the spouse). 

Requirements for the visa

You need the following documents to apply for the family visit visa;

• Applicant’s passport.
• Saudi visa of the Iqama holder person applying for the visa.
• 3 months of Iqama validity.
• No need to be physically present in KSA to apply.
• Activate Nafath app.

Now expatriates with any Iqama profession including labor and house drivers can also apply for a family visit visa.

Step 01: Log in to Nafath

In order to fill out the application for a family visit visa;

• Open this website https://visa.mofa.gov.sa/Account/
• Click on the “ Login ” button.
• Enter your Iqama Number .
• Approve the Nafath access .

Step 02: Fill out the application

On the next page, you will be given many options out of which you need to select;

• Family Visit Visa Application for Residents .

On the first page of the Saudi family visit visa application, the system will fetch your details while you need to enter;

• Saudi Visa Number is written on the work visa stamped on your passport when entering Saudi Arabia. In case you were born in KSA, you can leave the field blank.
• Click on the “ Add ” button.

Personal Details

On the next page, you need to enter the personal details of the family visit visa applicant such as;

• Name as per passport in ENGLISH ONLY .
• Fill out the rest of the application in Arabic .
• Enter Birth Date .
• Enter Birth Place .
• Select Gender .
• Occupational Status: Unemployed .
• Enter Mobile Number .
• Select Religion.
• Enter Relationship. Select Others if you want to apply for a family visit visa for someone else, such as a Brother or Sister.

Recently, many family visit visa applications have been rejected with the message “ نأمل تعبئة طلب جديد مع تدوين المهنة بشكل دقيق في خانة ( المهنة)، أطيب تحياتنا .” which means that the profession selected is inaccurate.

However, there is no profession of housewife, child, or retired in the list of professions provided above. We believe that this is a short glitch and soon the Saudi government will start to accept “Unemployed” profession.

Passport Details

Scroll down a little bit on the same page and enter the passport details of the applicant such as;

• Passport Number.
• Passport Type: Normal .
• Passport Issue Date.
• Passport Expiry Date.
• Passport Issue Place: The country of the passport holder.

Type of Visa

Now scroll down a little further and select the type of family visit visa you want to apply for in Saudi Arabia;

• The single-entry visit visa is issued for a period of 30 days only with 8 possible extensions of 30 days each i.e. 270 days.
• The multiple-entry visit visa is issued for a period of 90 days only which cannot be extended anymore.
• How to check Visit Visa validity in KSA?
• Coming from : The Embassy from where you want to stamp the visa.

If you want to apply for a family visit visa for more than one family member, click on the “ Add ” button again to enter the details of the second applicant who wants to come to KSA. Otherwise,

• Check “ Agreement Approval “.
• Click on the “ Save ” button.

Once done, the MOFA system will generate an application number. 

• Save the application number for future use.
• Print the application for further processing.

Step 03: Submit the application

In the next step, you need to submit the application to your employer to sign and stamp it.

• Private Employees: After this, the HR of your company will submit the application to the chamber of commerce of the same city mentioned in the address above.
• Government Employees:  The government employees will submit the application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• Domestic Workers:  The employer of the domestic workers will approve the visa through his Absher account. They don’t have to submit it anywhere.

Step 04: Check Visit Visa Application Status

Now keep on checking the family visit visa status from the MOFA website. As soon as the family visit visa is approved, send it to the country from where your family wants to enter KSA. https://visa.mofa.gov.sa/

In some cases, the MOFA requests some additional documents from the Iqama holder before approving the visa. If this is the case, you need to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with the required documents.

Step 05: Submit the application to the Saudi Embassy

Your family will contact an agent to submit the application to the Saudi Embassy or Saudi Consulate. In Pakistan, your family will have to book an appointment with Etimad.

At this point, you need to pay the fee for the family visit visa to your agent. Here is an approximate breakup of the fee;

• Visa Fee: SR 300.
• Insurance: SR 100.
• Other Charges: SR 500.
• Total Fee: SR 800 approx.

Make sure the application is submitted to the Saudi Embassy within the family visit visa validity .

Step 06: Check Saudi Visa Status

After submitting your passport to the embassy, you can check the Saudi Visa status with the passport number online.

If the visa is stamped, you need to book a return ticket for the family visit visa holder. Saudi authorities have the right to deport a visit visa holder if he does not have a return ticket.

Family Visit Visa through Istiqdam

In some cases, you might have to apply for a family visit visa through Istiqdam. Here is how you need to proceed;

Required Documents

• Get the appointment from Istiqdam.
• Download the family visit visa application form, fill it in Arabic, and get it attested by the Chamber of Commerce.
• Introduction letter issued by the employer and stamped by the chamber of commerce.
• Copy of marriage certificate if you are applying for in-laws.
• Copy of Iqama and Passport.

Visit the Istiqdam office

• Submit all the documents to the Istiqdam office and get Green and White paper from them.

Visit the MOFA

The last step is to visit the MOFA with a print of your online application along with the paper given to you by the Istiqdam.

Requirements for family visit visa in Saudi Arabia

• Fill out the electronic form that appears on the e-visa services page on the MOFA site. Then, through the chamber of commerce or employer, you must seal and validate it electronically.

• Likewise, the authentic residence permit that you present for residents.
• The applicant must be a direct family member.
• In the case of residents, the applicant must have a work visa.

Furthermore, being the holder of the Iqama, he is the one who will initiate the process to apply for a visit visa for his family. However, dependents, even if they have Iqama, will not be able to use them to apply for said visa.

Documents to apply for the MOFA family visit visa Saudi Arabia

• 1 copy of the passport of the holder who sponsors the Iqama
• The applicant must present an international passport valid for at least 6 months
• Copy of the Iqama or residence permit of the sponsor
• 4 passport-size photographs
• 1 apostilled copy of the ID of the applicant
• Marriage certificate, which must be apostilled

Processes to apply for the Saudi family visit visa

When submitting the Saudi family visit visa requirements for the application process, you can do so in English or Arabic. Also, follow the steps detailed below:

Fill out the application

• Enter the MOFA website.
• Now, click APPLY on the Citizen Family Visit Visa Application.
• Enter the username or Iqama number, your Absher account password, and click LOG IN
• Next, you will reach your mobile number registered for your Absher account, the OTP which you will need to enter on the required site.
• Then, select TRACKING.
• Under the RESIDENT FAMILY VISIT APPLICATION option, click APPLY
• Then, fill out the form completly
• For the VISIT OBJECTIVES column, write FAMILY VISIT ONLY (in Arabic). If you are not fluent in Arabic, you can use a translation tool.
• If you have visited the country before, complete the ENTRY VISA NUMBER.
• Then, click ADD in the I WANT TO VISIT column.
• Complete all the personal data of the applicant.
• Fill in the passport data.
• Also, complete all required information about the visa of the applicant.
• After entering all the information, select ADD and you will immediately see the information on the bottom screen that says I WANT TO VISIT
• In the same way, verify that the data is correct and, if there is incorrect information, click EDIT.
• Also, to add more than one applicant, select the ADD button and follow the above process. Otherwise, select AGREEMENT APPROVAL and click SAVE to continue.
• Now, it will generate the ORDER NUMBER of the applicant along with the APPLY FOR A FAMILY VISA application form.
• Now, double-check the information.
• Select PRINT to download the form and print it.

On the other hand, the employer of domestic workers may approve visas through Absher accounts. Furthermore, the employer is not required to send the application forms and must make the Saudi family visit visa status check.

Sending the visa form or number to the visitor

Generally, on the MOFA portal, you will be able to see the visa approval, then you must stamp it, and sign the application form. Likewise, you can check the KSA family visit visa status using the order number and Iqama number of the applicant. Then, select CONSULT.

Send the documents to the Embassy of Saudi Arabia or the authorized visa agency

Your family members can send the documents personally or through an agent to the Embassy or Consulate of Saudi Arabia in your country. Likewise, they can obtain the visa and passport by mail or in person.

In general, the family visit visa takes 3 days to process but due to the large number of applications it may take a little longer.

Saudi Family Visit Visa Extension

Now, single-entry visit visas and multiple visa will allow you a 90-day stay in Saudi Arabia. Thus, you can extend it 2 times, obtaining a total of 270 days of stay. Likewise, you can extend the family visit visa through Absher for up to 6 months or 180 days.

However, there are multiple entry Saudi family visit visa requirements under Jawazat that you must comply with. In this case, visa holders will have to pay fines for not leaving 3 months before the extension.

On the other hand, to extend the visa, you must obtain health insurance through an authorized insurance company. Additionally, the extension fee is SAR 100 for any visit visa, and fines for overtime are SAR 500.

Saudi Arabia Family Visit Visa Cost

The fee for the single-entry family visit visa and MOFA multiple-entry family visa is SR 200. Likewise, it is for any foreign applicant regardless of the country of origin.

How to check family visit visa status KSA?

Verify the family visit visa status check KSA through the MOFA with these simple steps:

• Go to the MOFA website.
• Now, change the query type option to INVITATION REQUEST ISSUED.
• Write the visa number and Iqama identification number where applicable.
• Next, enter the captcha code.
• Finally, select SEARCH.

The Saudi Arabia family visit visa is valid for 30 days, and extendable for up to 5 extensions. Likewise, the extensions have terms of 90 days at a time for a maximum total of 180 days. • Enter the Absher platform and log in.
• Next, under the ELECTRONIC SERVICES option, click on PASSPORT SERVICES.
• Now, select the VISIT VISA EXTENSION option.
• Then, upload the attachments and required information.
• Cancel the cost of the procedure.
• Finally, submit your request.

How to Fill Family Visit Visa Form Correctly | Complete Guide

We have discussed earlier how you can apply for a visit visa in Saudi Arabia. Now we are going to elaborate on how to fill out the Saudi family visit visa form correctly. The issuance of the visa depends upon providing the correct details and information. A little mistake can become a reason for the rejection of the family visit visa.

Here is a complete guide to filling out the form. The procedure to apply for a visit visa is in the Arabic language. Being an Expat, it becomes difficult to understand the language. So we are providing this guide for everyone who lives in Saudi Arabia and applying for a visit visa.

Filling Family Visit Visa Form

As you are well aware that mofa issues the visit visa, moreover now the procedure is online, therefore the very first step is to visit mofa website. We are going to fill a real form for applying visit visa for wife. So let’s start

Visit Mofa (Ministry Of Foreign Site)

the first step is visiting the mofa site. https://visa.mofa.gov.sa

The site opens in the Arabic language by default. However, mofa offers an English version of the site also. You can change the language by clicking on ‘English’ available on the top left corner.

The language will change to English. Click on individual and then click on Resident. The menu under ‘resident’ will change. Select the first option, as shown in the picture below. It will lead us to the online visa form.

Filling out the Form

The form will open, the very first window is about the undertaking. You confirm that you are providing true and correct information, and you are responsible for the housing and medical insurance of visitors.

الموافقة على التعهد Undertaking

From that screen to onward, all the details are in the Arabic language. We are providing the translation of it.

“أتعهد بتدوين جميع بياناتي بالشكل الصحيح من واقع هويتي الشخصية وتدوين بيانات المطلوب للزيارة من واقع جواز سفره وأتعهد بتوفير السكن العائلي المناسب والتأمين الطبي ومغادرة الشخص المطلوب للزيارة قبل إنتهاء مدة الإقامة المحددة في تأشيرة الدخول وان يكون طيلة مدة إقامته في المملكة خاضعاً للأنظمة والقوانين المرعية وأن الغرض من الطلب هو للزيارة للعائلية فقط وليس لأداء الحج أو العمرة وأتحمل كامل المسئولية إذا ثبت خلاف ذلك. كما أفوض وزارة الخارجية السعودية بالاطلاع على سجل بياناتي في المملكة.”

Translation: I pledge to record all my data correctly from my identity and to record the information required for a visit from the passport. The request is for family visits only and not for performing Hajj or Umrah, and I assume full responsibility if proven otherwise. I also authorize the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs to access my data record in the Kingdom.

Click on the button encircled in the rectangle to continue, as shown in the picture below.

اؑوافق means that ‘ I Agree’ and لا اؑوافق means ‘I don’t Agree.’

Filling the Second Form for Visit Visa

The second form is about your identity. Provide iqama number in the first box and expiry date in the 2nd tab. After filling in the details, click on ‘التالی’ encircled with a rectangle. It means next.

Filling the Third Form

The third form will show your details. A few details are already available. However, You have to provide the remaining information.

In this form, you have to provide a valid mobile number, personal email id, city name, and visa number.

While writing the city name, there are two options. Either provide that city name where your company has a head office. But if you live in a small city like Makkah, then write Jeddah as a city name.

For Visa Number, you can find in your passport. It’s that visa on which you entered in Saudi Arabia. We are providing the image for the visa number.

After completing the form, click on ‘التالی’ to move to the next form. The following questionnaire asks for the details of the visitors coming to Saudi Arabia.

Filling The Fourth Form

Upon landing on the next page, the very first information you have to provide is about the purpose of the visit.

Write ‘ زيارة عائلية ‘ in the first box, It means “family visit.” We have numbered it as 1. Then Enter the captcha code. Now click on No .2  to add the details of the visitors. Unless you add all the visitors, don’t click on No. 3

once you add all the visitors, then click on حفظ button, which is labeled as no. 3.

Adding Visitors Information

When you click on No. 2 , another form will open. Provide the asked information about the visitor here.

•  Write the name of the visitor matching as written on the passport.
•  Write the date of birth of the visitor.
• Add passport number
• Write the date of the issuance of the passport.
• Mention the issuance place of the passport. We wrote Islamabad as the place of issuance.
• Select the nationality from the drop-down menu. You can use any translator to find the name of your country in Arabic. how ever google can do the perfect job for you
• Write the city name the visitor would like to fly from
• Select whether you want a single entry visa or multiple entry visa. We selected ‘single’ for a one-time entry visa.
• Next is the visa validity period. 90 is the only available option from the drop-down menu, which means that visa validity is 90 days. For multiple entry visas, the efficacy is 365 days.
• In case selecting a single entry visa, the only option you get is 30. so choose it. If it is a multiple entry visa, then it is 90 by default. These number shows days. So 90 means 90 days.
• Select the religion. The options are Muslim and non-muslim
•  The following information is about the place of birth. We wrote Lahore لاھور
• next required detail is about the type of passport of the visitor. In most cases, it is a regular passport. So select عادی from the drop-down menu.
• Select the expiry date of the passport
• for this detail. Choose لا تعمل
• انثی means woman. If you are applying for ta wife, then chose this option from the drop-down menu. The last information that mofa needs are the relation with the visitor. for the wife select زوجة

Recheck The Family Visit Application For Mistakes

After filling the form, recheck it for any mistake. Once you are sure that there is no mistake, then click on اٖضافہ button encircled with the rectangle.

After adding the visitor, the form will take you back. if you have other visitors then again click on اضافہ and provide the details.

Personal Visit Visa

Requirements:

• Original passport valid for no less than six (6) months, with at least two (2) successive empty visa pages. 
• To fill your online application and make a visa payment, please log on to  https://visa.mofa.gov.sa .  ( Guideline for Enjaz )  Health insurance must be purchased from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Options for local health insurance providers will appear upon processing your Enjaz form.
• A visa referral note: indicating number and date of visa, issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs or either of its branches in Jeddah or Dammam.
• Minors (under 18 years) travelling alone, or with one parent, must submit a notarized letter in Arabic or English signed by a parent or a legal guardian.
• For non-U.S. citizens, copy of green card or document confirming legal residence in the U.S.

• Via Mail to the Embassy's address: 601 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington DC, 20037.
• Through the Embassy's authorized travel agencies .

Documents Required for Visit Visa Application

Application form duly filled ( online VIDEX or manual) and signed by the applicant

In case of minors (below 18 years of age): Parental Authorization Both parents must sign the parental authorization and also have to sign the application form. From 16 years of age also the minor has to sign the application form. Passport copies of parents (with signatures!) have to be attached to the application.

Original passport: Copy of the passport data and signature page and previous Schengen visas including entry/exit stamps. The passport needs to be duly signed and valid for at least 3 months after the planned date of return.

Photograph: One recent biometric photograph (35mm X 45mm) not older than 6 months with white/bright background. (loose, not attached to application form). No headgear except hijab.

Travel Health Insurance Certificate with coverage of at least EUR 30.000 The insurance must cover the entire period of intended stay, be valid for all Schengen States and cover any expenses which may arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention, emergency hospital treatment, not excluding COVID-19 infections or death during the stay .

Original invitation letter + ID/residence card copy: Invitation letter from a family member or friend in Germany mentioning the relationship, reason and period of visit. The letter must contain an issuing date, the full address and signature of the inviting person.

A formal invitation letter to be filled and signed by the inviting person at the competent municipality office/ aliens’ authority in Germany is recommended for non-Saudi applicants and compulsory for them if they do not have sufficient own funds. (to be provided in original and copy)

Flight reservation: Copy of the round trip airline reservation with passenger details and the complete travel itinerary. (stay should not exceed 90 days)

Declaration letter and family Iqama if relevant: Letter from one family member explaining the relationship with the applicant and declaring responsibility for all the expenses of all family members which may incur during the entire trip to the Schengen-area.

Employment letter/ Sponsor letter: Stating the purpose of the visit, date of joining the company, job position, further duration of the contract and whether it will be renewed, monthly salary and allowances of the applicant/ sponsor. The letter has to be attested by the Chamber of Commerce. Cost coverage by employer/ sponsor if relevant.

For self-employed individuals/ businessmen: Commercial Registration .

For holders of diplomatic or special passports: Letter from Ministry of Foreign Affairs or respective Embassy.

For private/domestic staff: a letter from the sponsor and a copy of the work contract.

Original Bank Statements: Recent bank statements of the past 6 months proving the monthly salary transfer and with sufficient funds available for the intended stay. The bank statements have to be stamped by the bank.

For Saudi nationals : Current bank statement balance proving sufficient funds available for the intended stay.

For Saudi nationals: Photocopy of Saudi National ID Card (with translation) if the place of birth is not indicated in the passport

Additional Documents for Non-Saudi Nationals

Exit & Re-Entry visa (in English and Gregorian calendar)

Official excerpt of the Electronic Exit Re-Entry Visa (Absher/Muqeem) with exact dates ( Exit before ….. /Return before …) and expiration date of the Iqama, which should be valid at least 3 months after the planned date of return.
