We booked this cruise as a pre-wedding "excursion" for guests who were joining us from out of town and it was a huge hit. She linked me with a fabulous catering service and even facilitated the drop-off of the food delivery so that I would not have to worry about that myself. Not only did Kathy make the whole process easy but the staff on board that day did a phenomenal job of making our guests feel special and were quick and accurate with all drink orders. Drinks on board were very reasonably priced which was also a big hit with our guests as often these types of activities overcharge for drinks. We paid a little extra to go to the top deck, just for adults. Glad we did, the bottom is a family friendly environment. The ship itself is beautiful, and staff is wonderful. Would definitely do it again.

Depart from Santa Barbara Harbor

Get ready for a full day at Channel Islands National Park. Check in is at 6:40am, don’t worry, you can nap on the boat!

Whale and Dolphin Discover Crossing

The 2.5 hour crossing is a great opportunity to watch for whales and dolphins. We cross a known feeding area for Blue Whales and Humpback Whales.

We’ll begin our downwind paddle at Blimp-hanger Cave.

Easy Loading from our custom Swim Deck

We gear you up with wetsuits, paddle jackets, helmets, and paddles. Your guides give you a safety talk and then we launch directly into a sea cave called Blimp-hanger.

Steep Volcanic Cliffs… and caves!

Your guides will escort you downwind on the curated route we have created bringing you to the largest and most incredible sea caves at the West end of Santa Cruz Island.

Fern Grotto

One of the coves we visit on our way to Painted Cave is the gorgeous “Fern Grotto” where the lichen colors and crystal clear water are stunning.

Boomers Cave

The second largest sea cave on this stretch of island, and probably a guide favorite… Boomers delivers incredible acoustics and unmatched exploration opportunities.

Seal Secret Cave and Cove

Our last cave before we round the point and enter the darkness of Painted Cave is Seal Secret cave and cove, a great place for a break and snack. Many sea lions use the cave at the back of this cove as a haul out, and we usually get a great show!

Painted Cave is recorded as the longest sea cave on earth, winding into the darkness more than 1,274 feet or 374 meters. We explore the depths of the cave on our quiet kayaks.

As you exit the depths of Painted Cave you’ll be renewed in spirit and energy as you look out North towards the mainland. It’s a very peaceful experience.

Modified Snorkeling from your Kayaks

As we finish our kayaking route we stop in a secluded cove where the water is crystal clear and the wildlife is abundant. This is our snorkeling spot and you’ll slide off your kayak and don your mask where you can kick around on the surface taking a peek at the underwater world below.

Do i need boat transportation.

Boat Transportation is Provided

We own and operate a custom expedition vessel fleet, boat transportation is included in your trip!

What is the age limit?

The minimum age on this trip is 7 and we recommend previous experience.

Our age limits are for your safety and enjoyment.

What are your swimming requirements?

You must know how to swim to participate in the snorkeling, and you will be wearing a PFD (lifejacket) per our insurance requirements.

If I am solo or in an odd number group will I be in a tandem kayak with a stranger?

We will load single kayaks for solo paddlers and odd numbers groups.

Can we land and hike on the island?

No, this is a NON LANDING trip.

What is your cancellation policy?

100% credit up until 10 days prior to departure!

All bookings are transferable to a future date up until 10 days prior to your departure. Credits expire after 12 months.  No changes permitted within 10 days.

No refunds are issued without CIEx Trip Protect (which is available at check-out).

How difficult is the kayaking?

Moderate – This paddle is the same distance as our EPIC Combo, but this area of the islands is more exposed and you may have to paddle in choppy seas. Since we paddle downwind, you’ll be surfing those seas, but it makes the kayak tippy, so previous experience is helpful but not required.

Santa Barbara Sunset Cruise

Welcome aboard and set sail for a two hour sunset cruise aboard the Double Dolphin.  While sailing along the coast with the backdrop of the Santa Ynez Mountains and Channel Islands at a distance, we often see California sea lions, dolphins, and a variety of coastal birds.  Join us for a romantic conclusion to a full day of sightseeing or long day at work. Regardless of the occasion, a sunset cruise is sure to excite.

The Double Dolphin

The view is better from the water! Our 50 ft sailing Catamaran, The Double Dolphin, casts off almost daily for coastal cruises, Music on the Water cruises, and more. Her 1400 square feet of deck space and dual-hull construction make her comfortable, stable, and safe.

With a 49 passenger capacity, we have plenty of room for a large party. On board, you will find wine, beer, champagne, water, sodas, and gourmet snacks. There are two restrooms for your convenience.

Come and enjoy America’s Riviera while sailing alongside an entourage of sea lions, dolphins, whales, and birds. It’s a sensational sea story you will tell again and again.

For Your Comfort and Safety

• Dress in layers as it tends to be cooler on the water.
• Wear comfortable, non-marking soled shoes.
• Bring a camera, sunscreen, sunglasses, and binoculars if you have them (especially for Whale Watching).
• Motion sickness medication should be taken according to the manufacturer’s directions.
• There is a bar on board for your convenience.
• Prices are subject to taxes and fees. We accept major credit cards only. We do not accept cash.
• Please arrive 20-30 minutes early to check in for your cruise.
• Please Note r eservations are required for all public cruises.
• You may park in the Santa Barbara Harbor. The cost is $3 per hour with a $18 maximum charge per 24 hour period. You need to keep your parking ticket and pay upon exiting. The lot is a Santa Barbara City Lot.

Attention :  Bringing your own alcoholic beverages is NOT permitted on any Double Dolphin Public Cruises .

100% non-refundable payment is due at the time of booking. We accept all major debit/credit cards. We do not accept cash.

Cancellation and House Credit Policies

To receive house credit, advance notice must be given  by 4pm the day prior  to your booking for the following:

• Private Double Dolphin Cruises
• Private Skippered Charters
• Non-ASA Certification Lessons and Guided SUP/Kayak Tours.

To receive house credit, a 7-day advance  notice is required for the following:

• Corporate Regattas
• Dining at Sea Private Charters
• Multi-Day Skippered Charters

Membership Cancellation Policy

All memberships auto-bill on the first of each month. If you would like to cancel your membership at any point, you must submit written notice before the first of the month. We cannot offer any refunds or credits for dues already charged.

Liability Waiver Forms

Before participating in water activities, all participants must sign a release of liability form.

Inclement Weather Policy

Full refunds  are available when the captain and/or manager make the call for cancellation  one hour prior to your departure . Inclement weather is defined as “sea and wind conditions that are deemed potentially unsafe.” Trips operating under unfavorable conditions that do not pose any risk to boat safety (rain, fog, temperature, etc.) will still operate as scheduled. Cancellations made due to “unfavorable conditions” by 4pm the day prior to departure will result in a house credit with no expiration date.

Cannabis Policy:

Although California state law currently allows prescription and recreational cannabis to be legal, it is  not  legal while boating since the ocean is considered  Federal Water . All illegal drugs, as well as all forms of cannabis, are  not permitted on any boat for any reason in any amount . The Charterer/Renter will be held liable for the  full value  of the vessel should anything happen to the boat, as well as  loss of income .

Alcohol Policy:

Hard alcohol is  not  permitted aboard the Double Dolphin under any circumstances. No outside alcohol may be brought on the Double Dolphin for public cruises.. Wine can be brought aboard the Double Dolphin for  private charters only . Each bottle is subject to a $25 corkage fee and no bottle over 750 ml will be permitted. No other outside alcohol is allowed. Hard alcohol, wine, and beer are all permitted aboard Private Skippered Charters free of charge.

Capacity Policy:

Private charters aboard our Catalinas may have a maximum of 6 guests (not including captain) on board at all times. The Double Dolphin may have a maximum of 49 passengers (not including captain and crew) on board at all times. Infants count as a full passenger according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Kayak/SUP Policy

Everyone participating in kayak or paddle activities must be a strong swimmer. Please see our website for equipment weight capacity. It is the renter’s responsibility to make sure the equipment is not overloaded. All minors 18 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult at all times while paddling or kayaking.

Catering Order Policy:

All catering orders are 100% non-refundable and must be placed at least 96 hours prior to your scheduled departure date. If your charter is canceled for any reason, your catering order will be made available for pick up at our office.
