The Bimini Fast Ferry has a capacity of 600 passengers and features both economy and premium seating.  The current schedule offers sailings on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays most of the year (see the full calendar schedule below). The Bimini Fast Ferry offers one-way service, day trips (over and back same day) or split dates (depart one day and return another).

Passengers with cargo items (large items that that do not fit in a suitcase, such as dive equipment, bicycles, etc.) must drop these items off at the warehouse the day before your sailing. Please be mindful of the days the warehouse will load your items onboard before you book your sailing. 

ALL items, baggage, etc must be labeled with the passenger’s full name and address. Unclaimed baggage with be held for 10 days at owner’s risk and expense and will be discarded after that period of time.

**Rates may be higher during peak season periods, based on availability, class of seating and other factors. Port taxes, Bahamas departure fees and service fees will be added to your final rate before check-out.

First time over to Bimini, having visited other islands often. The people were delightful and the water was so inviting...a nice beach at the end of the south island. Rented a golf cart which is the main way of getting around...easy to see the entire island and make many stops along the way to see the sights. The hotel is quite lovely and the accommodation very nice. 2 pools, a casino, and several restaurants .... quite nice. It's great for a getaway for a night away....Easy to get to...a bit of problems getting out of Miami, but because were delayed departing they left later that night for the return...a nice gesture. No problems with the return the next night. There's not a lot to do but for a short getaway, couldn't do better....water is beautiful...all around a great time!!

We've traveled to the Bahamas many times and stayed at several hotels but none were as nice as the Hilton at Resorts World Bimini. The hotel is rated 5-stars and it's also brand new. It's not too large but large enough to have plenty to do. You are surrounded by water and the cottages of Resorts World Bimini. We loved it so much it is going to be an annual trip.

the flight from Tampa departed with a delay. The food on board was poor, usually on international airlines alcoholic beverages are offered free of charge , but here it was for a fee, the cutlery was wooden, there were no hot drinks (tea, coffee). That flight was smooth, and staff we courteous. it was a full flight so very tight. The boarding through security was not properly controlled. it was rushed and the scanning process for our bags, etc. was pilling up at the other end with no time to empty our belonging my personal items almost toppled over on the floor if i hadn't caught it rapidly. Was it just that time, or always like this - cant say. other than that all else was fine.

Boarding was friendly and quick. While the plane model was older with no live tv, the entertainment was full of movies and tv shows. All food was available. Pilots were very communicative with status of the flight. Flight landed on time.

Spirit canceled the flight in March and never notified me!

I paid just under 200 for flight and luggage, then paid 200 to change the flight, then paid 100 for a carry on. Then the cancelled the flight. Of the 500 I spent they refunded 250. I bought a delta flight for 270 never flew with spirit, but spirit kept 250, not even refunding the 100 for the carry on though they cancelled the flight (for weather on a day with only a slight rain ).

Our flight was on time and unremarkable which I'm grateful for, as it is not the norm traveling these days. Frontier is a low-cost carrier and it really shows when compared to other "normal" carriers. They don't even give you water during the flight. The coach seats are decent, however it was not as clean as it should be. We had crumbs all over the floor by our seats.

The 700-island archipelago is the kind of oasis you dream of when, in my case at least, you're indoors on a cold and dark day in Cleveland. Exploring the islands is tricky by air, but much easier via ship. Bahamas cruises to take right now include quick jaunts from easy-to-get-to Florida ports as well as one-week and longer cruises that explore more deeply. You can sail there in less than a day from Florida (cruises tend to embark in the early evening and hang out at sea until the next morning ashore), which makes it both an easy escape for a quick getaway or somewhere to linger for even more rest and relaxation.

What to expect on a Bahamas cruise

The main places cruise ships visit in the Bahamas are Nassau, the capital city, and some of the islands and beaches that are affiliated with cruise lines, such as Disney's private family wonderland Castaway Cay, off Great Abaco Island. There are small ships that explore further, including to the southern reaches of the archipelago.

Cruise passengers will find opportunities to hike in national parks, enjoy nearly deserted beaches, and explore many small churches-the Bahamas boasts more churches per capita than anywhere else in the world.

In the Bahamian capital of Nassau on New Providence Island, visitors can get a better understanding of the nation's British colonial and West African slave history as well as of the Junkanoo culture and festivals at wonderful museums. A white cross memorializes the supposed landing spot. Long Island, which stretches some 80 miles, has both rugged and sandy coasts and the natural attraction of Dean's Blue Hole, one of the deepest sinkholes in the world at 663 feet, a place where divers and snorkelers can mingle with turtles and tarpons. The small island of Bimini is known for its clean beaches and rich marine life-hanging out at beach clubs, seeking quiet escapes in the land, and watching for dolphins and other sea creatures are prime activities.

Balearia Caribbean's ferry ticket are not transferable. The name of the passenger cannot be modified in any case.

Those reservations whose cancellation is requested seven days before the ferry departure date, are entitled to a full refund.

If the reservation cancellation request is made between 7 and 4 days before the ferry departure date, the cancellation penalty will be 50%.

Those reservation cancellations requested three days or less before the ferry departure date will not be refunded.

Date changes : Date changes are allowed if they are requested at least 24 hours before the ferry departure date. A fare difference and a US$75 penalty will be applied for each change.

Special Offers and One day Trips: No refund will be applied for cancellations of special offers and one-day trips.

Any passenger who does not board the ferry for any reason, beyond the control of Balearia Caribbean, will not be entitled to a refund or date change under any circumstances.

Balearia Caribbean does not assume any responsibility other than the refund of the ticket, in case it has to refund it, if the ferry trip for which the ticket has been issued does not make the stipulated trip due to operational difficulties, weather conditions, unforeseen circumstances or forces beyond Balearia Caribbean's control.

New requirements effective on June 19th, 2022 .

June 17th, 2022: ALL passengers will NO LONGER need a Bahamas Health Visa starting on June 19th, 2022

Every passenger that is fully vaccinated WILL NO LONGER NEED A TEST .

All unvaccinated travelers ages 2 and older will be required to obtain either a negative RT-PCR test or a Rapid Antigen test— taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to travel and present the negative test results at check-in before travel to The Bahamas.

Passengers will be required to bring Covid test result, proof of vaccinations (original card) on travel day. This is a mandatory request by The Bahamas government. The embarkation may be denied due to failure of facilitating the proper travel documents.

Children under the age of 2 are exempt from testing requirements.

* Currently, no Covid test or vaccination is required to enter Florida when traveling by ferry.

May 31, 2022: LATEST UPDATE from the Bahamian authorities regarding passengers traveling to the Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale (both Bimini and Grand Bahama) on the day trip. Although those passengers who come to the Bahamas for one day trip do not need to present the Health Visa upon arrival at the port of the Bahamas, it is mandatory that they present a negative result of a rapid antigen test upon arrival.

All other passengers who spend at least one night in the Bahamas must present the Health Visa upon arrival in the country.

As of now, May 2022, the health visa that was requested by the Bahamian authorities from Balearia Caribbean passengers on a one day trip to the Bahamas (both Bimini and Grand Bahama) will no longer be mandatory however they are requiring a Negative RAPID Test.

With this new initiative of the permanent secretary of the Bahamas government, it is intended to increase the number of visitors and travelers of the one day trip, in both directions, both for those who want to travel to the Bahamas (Bimini and Grand Bahama), and for those Bahamians who want to travel to the United States.

Children from 3 to 12 years old travel by ferry with a 50% discount on the price of the adult fare, taxes not included.

Children 13 years and older pay the regular Adult rate (paying the same taxes as adults).

The government of the Bahamas has modified the requirements for entry into the Bahamas islands and travel between certain islands in the Bahamas in order to provide a safe and healthy island experience for all travelers visiting the Bahamas to safely enjoy the islands.

This new regulation is aimed at all people who apply for a Health Visa to travel to the Bahamas or travel between islands within the Bahamas as of next Friday, August 6, 2021.

Entering the Bahamas from other countries:

All fully vaccinated travelers, as well as children ages 2 to 11, will need to obtain a negative COVID-19 test (either a rapid antigen test or a PCR test) taken no more than five (5) days prior to departure/arrival date to the Bahamas.

Unvaccinated travelers 12 years of age and older must obtain a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 5 days prior to arrival.

All children under the age of 2 are exempt from any testing requirements.

If you want to travel between islands within the Bahamas from the following islands:

Nassau and Paradise Island, Grand Bahama (Freeport), Bimini (Alice Town), Exuma, Abaco, and North and South Eleuthera, including Harbor Island.

Requeriments for Cruise Passengers.

Guests on cruises originating in and returning to the Bahamas must apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa and follow the new testing requirements for vaccinated and unvaccinated persons.

Vaccinated people must provide a negative PCR test or rapid antigen test performed no more than five (5) days prior to arrival in the Bahamas islands.

Unvaccinated people must obtain a negative PCR test performed no more than five (5) days prior to the date of arrival in the Bahamas islands.

All travelers entering the Bahamas on cruises originating in the United States will be subject to the testing requirements required by the cruise line and approved by the Bahamian government.

Balearia Caribbean will relaunch its ferry service from Florida to the Bahamas on Febraury 2021, departing from Fort Lauderdale port. The South Florida-based company runs ferry services from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini first and from Port Everglades to Freeport (Grand Bahama island).

The company announced last week that the Government of the Bahamas has approved the launch of the fast ferry service between Miami (Fort Lauderdale) and Grand Bahama (Freeport) in the Bahamas. His first departure to Freeport is scheduled for February 11, 2021.

Balearia will be offering initially one sailing service a week, with ferry on Thurdays. At the end of Febraury, another ferry service will be implemented on Sundays. The ferry route to Freeport, Grand Bahama, will be opertate once a week (Thurdays) and, if possible, it will be two days a week in February. If passenger demand increases, and sanitary conditions allow it, the frequency on the ferry routes will be increased in March and April 2021.

While in the ferry terminals and on board the boats throughout the navigation, the use of a mask or face cover is always mandatory for all passengers.

With the safety and hygiene of passengers in mind, Balearia Caribbean has installed additional disinfectant dispensers in all its terminals and on board the ship.

Plexiglass dividers and informational signs have also been placed in different areas throughout the vessel to promote safe distances between passengers and the crew members.

Memorial Day weekend plans in Miami Beach: Air and Sea Show, road closures and parking restrictions

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - It’s a big holiday weekend, and thousands will be flocking to South Florida for an array of activities, including an annual military spectacle.

The City of Miami Beach is already preparing for this Memorial Day Weekend with an expected police presence, parking restrictions and road closures.

The possibilities for fun are endless. Many Floridians will be breaking the heat at the beach, while others will stop by and view a one-of-a-kind memorial. The Hyundai Air and Sea Show is paying tribute to the nation’s fallen servicemen and women in Miami Beach starting Friday.

“You’re going to see incredible displays, demonstrations, fly-bys, capabilities exercises from all five branches of our military and from our British allies here that are honoring America,” said Mickey Markoff, the Air and Sea Show’s executive producer. “You’re going to be awestruck by the technology, the power, and the fuel that will be turned into noise. The sound of freedom.”

It’s definitely not a sight you see every day, as military jets will fly by and army tanks will roll onto Ocean Drive with a full police escort, which will make beachgoers excited.

“They had like a tank over there or something. It was kind of insane,” said Bobby.

“Thank you, Miami. Thank you, USA,” said a beachgoer.

7Skyforce flew over Opa-locka Airport to capture planes and helicopters in place for the big weekend event.

“It’s a good day to remember the soldiers that have served before us,” said Carlos Seijo, station commander and Army recruiter. “You can actually experience what the Army can bring, like combat related MOS or combat support.”

“I’m overall excited to be here because I was born and raised in South Florida, so I am very pleased to see that every year it gets better,” said Capt. Mateo Quintero, an Army recruiter.

“It gives me the opportunity to pause and remember all that have come before us,” said U.S. Army Col. Jennifer Walkawicz.

One of those heroes is Michael Ling, an Air Force rescue pilot, who gathered his team to save the life of a 12-year-old boy on a cruise ship off the Florida coast.

“I am an HC130J pilot, rescue pilot,” said Ling.

On the first weekend in May, Ling and his team sprung into action to help the boy.

Ling said that’s all in a day’s work.

“So that just happened. Now, we are here performing for the air show,” he said.

Ling will be one of the pilots flying during the show. 7News spoke to him at Wodka Vodka Salute, a celebration and warm welcome for heroes.

“We’ll go and do a rescue demo, we’ll do some air refueling with the helicopters, and that’s pretty much it,” said Ling. “Life is good.”

Another pilot flying an A10 jet sky high over the weekend is Air Force pilot Riley Nix.

“I’m an A10 pilot for Moody Air Force Base,” said Nix. “We’ll just do some maneuvering, we’re gonna do a combat search and rescue demonstration with some helicopters and some C130s.”

Nix said the meaning behind the show is why we celebrate Memorial Day.

“It just reminds us how blessed we are to be in this country,” said Nix.

Meanwhile, Miami Beach Police are making sure everyone remains safe this weekend and stays on their best behavior.

“We have about 18 different, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies that will be in our city,” said Miami Beach Police spokesperson Christopher Bess.

Two hundred thousand daily visitors are expected over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, and visitors can expect to see traffic changes. There will be lots of road closures along South Beach.

If by any chance, you miss the Hyundai Air and Sea Show, Hyundai Motors America CEO Randy Parker said the show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

“So proud to be part of this Memorial Day weekend event. We just made a very special announcement today that we’re going to extend our partnership for three more years,” said Parker.

Collins and Washington avenues will flow north and southbound with access to the roads only at Fifth and 16th streets. On Ocean Drive, traffic will only be allowed to enter at 13th Street and go southbound to Fifth Street, with no access to any other street.

New parking fees will go into effect on Friday:

• Non-residents will pay a flat parking rate of $30.
• Residents will pay $15.
• Street parking will be prohibited on Collins Avenue between Fifth Street and Española Way.

“So please pack patience,” said Bess.

The City of Miami Beach is following steps by the City of Miami in closing Flagler Monument Island to keep people safe . This move mimics Miami as the city closed four spoil islands for boaters due to significant trash being left behind.

For those driving to Miami Beach, parking garages located on the northern side will be open to visitors.
