Where to Stay in Nashville

The different areas of Nashville, Tennessee are referred to by neighborhood names such as 12 South, The Gulch, SoBro, Germantown, and Downtown. ( See a map of Nashville’s neighborhoods here. )

If you want to be close to the action, the area you’ll spend the most time in when on a girls’ trip in Nashville is Downtown Nashville.

Downtown Nashville is home to Nashville’s famous honky tonks, music venues, and the highest density of newly constructed restaurants and hotels.

Adjacent to Downtown Nashville (and within walking distance to the honky tonks) is the SoBro neighborhood – another great option of where to stay during a Nashville girls’ trip.

Along with Downtown Nashville’s Airbnbs and boutique hotels, the best places to stay in Nashville for a girls’ weekend include:

  • Grand Hyatt Nashville (1/2 mile from Honky Tonk Highway, rooftop bar, 5th-floor pool deck, 7 onsite dining and drinking options)
  • Omni Nashville Hotel (1 block from Honky Tonk Highway, rooftop pool and hot tub, 3 onsite restaurants)

How to Get Around Nashville

Downtown Nashville is fairly compact, so most people choose to walk whenever possible.

The best way to get around the city of Nashville when walking isn’t feasible, however, is by ride-share services like Uber or Lyft.

Lime Scooters ( that can be found literally everywhere! ) are also very popular when traveling within a mile or two of where you’re going.

{ I recommend downloading the Lime app before your trip in case you get the urge to scooter! }

Next, having a rental car is also a good option, especially when looking to travel the 12 miles from Downtown to East Nashville – home of Opryland Hotel, Grand Ole Opry, and Opry Mills shopping mall.

If you do have a car, most downtown Nashville hotels provide parking for their guests but it can be quite expensive.

Public garages throughout Nashville cost much less. (Visit the  Park it! Downtown  website for public parking options and costs.)

Finally, there are dozens of options when it comes to ‘ entertainment transportation ‘ in Downtown Nashville – which is a popular option for bachelor and bachelorette parties.

Whether you’re looking for a private or shared experience, companies offer rides on buses, trucks, tractor-trailers, pedal pubs, and even golf carts and firetrucks.

Most party bus companies allow BYOB, offer a VIP bartender experience, and/or provide a unique tour of Music City.

Nashville Girls Weekend: The Best Things to Do in Nashville

Similar to our girls’ weekend getaways in Austin, Texas , Scottsdale, Arizona , and Palm Springs, California , Nashville is home to an amazing array of fun things to do.

It is also a great spot to hold a bachelorette party for its positive energy and upbeat vibe!

What makes Nashville unique, however, is the contrast of its laid-back honky tonks, with its swanky restaurants, wineries, shops, and spas.

With musical history and culture infused into the architecture, décor, and ambiance of Nashville, your girls’ weekend getaway here is guaranteed to be both memorable and one-of-a-kind.

Though it would be impossible to mention absolutely everything that there is to see and do here, let’s explore some of the best things to do during your Nashville girls’ weekend!

1. Party on Honky Tonk Highway

What is a honky tonk? It’s an establishment that contains a least one rockin’ stage, cold beverages, and live music that lasts all day, every day. Nashville, Music City CVB

Broadway Street (located on lower Broadway) is more commonly referred to as Nashville’s Honky Tonky Highway.

Honky Tonk Highway is the city’s main drag and is what most people think of when they think of visiting Music City, which happens to be Nashville’s iconic nickname.

Here, the pedestrian-friendly street is lined with over 28 honky tonks that feature live country music 365 days a year, from 10 AM – 3 AM every day of the week.

While walking down the street, visitors can see and hear all of the live music going on inside the honky tonks as they have large, open windows to showcase the band that is currently playing.

Though you’ll primarily hear country music, you’ll also hear cuts of bluegrass, rock, pop, classical, jazz, blues, and more.

Artists include musicians, singer-songwriters, and other entertainers.

Some honky tonks are smaller, more intimate music venues, while others are huge and offer multiple floors and stages.

{ Kid Rock’s Big Honky Tonk & Steakhouse , for instance, has five floors, four stages, and 6 bars all within one establishment.}

Some of our favorites include:

  • Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa
  • Kid Rock’s Big Honky Tonk
  • Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge ( world-famous! )
  • Redneck Riviera
  • Rippy’s
  • Blake Shelton’s Ole Red

Additional planning tips: One of the best parts about Honky Tonky Highway is that there is no cover charge to enter the honky tonks, which means that you can enjoy amazing live music for absolutely free!

Also, anyone, including kids and families, can enjoy the honky tonks before 8 or 9 PM.

After 8 PM, however, most venues only allow guests 21 and up.

*We love Honky Tonk Highway so much that we wrote an entire article about the Must-Visit Nashville Honky Tonks that includes a printable map of where all the honky tonks are! Don’t miss it!

Nashville itinerary: Visit the Grand Ole Opry!

2. Visit the Grand Ole Opry

I highly recommend that you visit the Grand Ole Opry (the home of country music!) during your Nashville girls’ trip!

A visit to the Opry should include time to take in both a 2-hour Grand Ole Opry show, as well as to enjoy a backstage tour.

If you’re able to snag tickets for a show in the Opry’s 4,400-seat auditorium, you’ll hear some of the best bluegrass and country music on the planet, as well as enjoy comedic performances and skits.

The show is a mixture of country legends, today’s top artists, as well as rising stars about to get their big break.

The Opry is never rehearsed, and never the same show twice.

50-minute backstage guided tours of the Grand Ole Opry take place in both the daytime and after the shows.

They start with an immersive theater experience that shares stories about the Opry and its biggest moments, as well as shows exclusive photos and videos of country music’s superstars.

Along with seeing the artists’ entrance, you’ll get to see all of the unique dressing rooms, as well as step onto the stage and into the famed ‘wooden circle’.

Additional planning tip: Tickets for an Opry show and backstage tour can be purchased together or separately. You do not necessarily need to go to a show to book a backstage tour and vice versa.

*Plan and price either your Grand Ole Opry show with a post-show guided backstage tour or a guided backstage tour only, here.

Nashville girls' trip and the best things to do in Nashville!

3. Take an Old Town Trolley Tour

Looking to do some exploring, learning, and sightseeing during your girls’ trip to Nashville?

There is so much more to Nashville than its honky tonks and music venues and the best way to explore all that this great city has to offer is by means of a Nashville Old Town Trolley Tour !

A ticket on the trolley offers guests a 90-minute round trip ride, with hop-on and hop-off privileges throughout its continuous 12-mile loop – to 14 different stops around the city of Nashville.

In between stops you’ll learn fascinating stories and interesting facts from the trolley conductor while never having to hunt for a parking spot at Nashville’s top attractions.

Spend as much, or as little time as you want at places like Ryman Auditorium, Music City Walk of Fame, Belmont Mansion, and The Gulch thanks to the free unlimited re-boarding offered on the trolley tour.

Though a mention and review of the trolley stops could be a blog article in itself, here are some ‘can’t miss places to stop during your Nashville girls’ weekend:

  • Stop #2: Ryman Auditorium self-guided tour ( original home to the Grand Ole Opry )
  • Stop #3: Museum hopping at: Music City Walk of Fame, Johnny Cash Museum, Patsy Cline Museum, and the Goo Goo Chocolate Factory
  • Stop #10: The Parthenon (a replica of the famous temple in Athens, Greece, as seen in the photo above)
  • Stop #11: Hattie B’s Hot Chicken
  • Stop #12: Belmont Mansion tour
  • Stop #13: The Gulch neighborhood ( awesome shops and restaurants! )

*Plan and price your Nashville Hop On Hop Off Trolley Tour here!

Nashville murals found in Nashville, TN

4. Photograph Nashville’s Murals

Nashville is decorated with beautiful wall murals and street art all throughout the city.

It’s not uncommon to see crowds of people waiting in line to snap photos in front of them.

The prime spots for viewing and photographing Nashville’s murals are in The Gulch neighborhood and 12 South.

Here are some of the most popular and Instagram-worthy murals you’ll want to check out:

  • What Lifts You wings (above): 302 11th Ave. South – The Gulch
  • 12th and Porter mural: 114 12th Ave. North – The Gulch
  • I Believe in Nashville mural: 2702 12th Avenue South
  • Nashville Looks Good on You : 2511 12th Avenue South
  • Country Music Icons mural: 711 6th Ave. South

For a complete list of Nashville murals visit here .

Or, plan and price a Murals and Mimosas Sightseeing Tour !

12/30 Club on Lower Broadway in Nashville

5. Indulge in Delicious Dining

The local food movement has been taking hold in Nashville with over 200 chef-driven restaurants opening in the past two years.

Unless you’re staying for months, however, there won’t be enough time in your Nashville girls’ weekend to experience all of the amazing places to dine here.

In fact, amazing cuisine can be found around every corner in Nashville with most foodie spots featuring delicious cocktails to go with their incredible bites.

Here are my top picks of places for girls’ night out dinners in Nashville that have an amazing ambiance, food, and ( in some cases ) music:

  • Skulls Rainbow Room ( cool, swanky atmosphere! )
  • The Twelve Thirty Club ( perfect for a girl’s night out! )
  • Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina
  • The Chef and I

* Be sure to make reservations ahead of time when possible .

Additional planning tip: Nashville BBQ, hot chicken, and biscuits ( classic southern comfort food! ) are 3 of Nashville’s iconic foods and everyone has their own opinion on who serves up the best.

Being that I’m not an expert in this area, I’ll leave this to be critiqued by the Nashville foodies out there.

Do, however, be sure to try each of these Nashville specialties while you’re there!

Best brunch in Nashville: Liberty Common

6. ‘Do Brunch’ in Nashville

“Brunch” in Nashville is in a category of its own when it comes to the best things to do in Nashville on a girls’ weekend getaway!

Maybe it’s the late nights and breakfast being skipped that leads to a natural need for brunch, or maybe it’s the fact that swanky brunch spots and bottomless mimosas are the perfect pastimes before the honky tonks open midday?

Either way, you’ll find plenty of delicious food, Instagram-worthy decor, and chic morning cocktails when enjoying brunch in Nashville.

Here are our favorite brunch spots in Nashville to enjoy during your Nashville girls’ weekend!

  • Liberty Common
  • Pinewood Social ( Check out the bowling alley and swimming pool here too! )
  • Hampton Social
  • Butcher & Bee
  • Kitchen Notes
  • Milk and Honey

Nashville’s best coffee shops include The Frothy Monkey and White Bison Coffee (in the 12 South area), Cafe Intermezzo and Crema (in the SoBro area), and Fido (in Hillsboro Village).

The Listening Room in Nashville, TN

7. Go to a Show at The Listening Room

The Listening Room is an awesome concert venue to visit if you’re looking for a more intimate music and dining experience during your Nashville girls’ weekend itinerary.

Here, singer-songwriters, and up-and-coming country music artists play nightly shows that include storytelling, and time spent getting to know the artists.

They pride themselves in being a spot designed for musicians to get themselves out there and to get themselves heard.

Instead of stadium seats or standing room, guests are seated at dining tables centered around the main stage, as food and beverages are served throughout the show.

When purchasing show tickets , they also serve as your dinner reservation (a $15 dollar minimum food/beverage is required per person) and guarantees you a reserved seat in the concert hall.

Additional planning tip: I feel that The Listening Room is one of Nashville’s best-kept secrets, and though it is not located directly on Broadway, it is only a short walk or Uber ride away!

Another great place to catch a show of up-and-coming artists is The Bluebird Cafe .

Artists such as Kathy Mattea, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, and Taylor Swift have all had career-defining moments there!

8. Visit a Nashville Winery

One of the most unique things to do in Nashville that is definitely less talked about is to visit a local winery!

Whether you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere in Tennessee wine country or something in bustling downtown Nashville itself, we have an entire article written on the best wineries in Nashville for you to try.

Each and every one of these wineries combines amazing wine with the music, culture, and local fare that Nashville visitors have come to know and love.

Additional planning tip: My top recommendation is to visit Belle Meade Historic Site and Winery and take a guided mansion tour and complimentary wine tasting!

This site is absolutely breathtaking and is even more amazing when visiting Nashville during Christmastime !

9. Shop Til’ You Drop

Nashville is a prime destination for shoppers!

From modern shopping malls to quaint shops and unique flea markets, there is truly something for everyone when it comes to shopping in Nashville.

Opry Mills , located just steps from the Grand Ole Opry, is the most popular indoor shopping mall in Nashville.

Along with 200 stores, there is a Regal Movie Theater at one end and a Dave and Busters at the other.

For elegant shopping and dining, head to The Mall at Green Hills , and for eclectic shopping, check out Fatherland District .

Or, head to 12 South and visit Draper James , Reece Witherspoon’s flagship women’s clothing store.

Finally, if you love Mexican music, food, and culture, be sure to check out Plaza Mariachi Music City !

This shopping and entertainment plaza is located just 10 minutes from Nashville’s historic downtown area and combines food, shopping, and entertainment in a single location.

Enjoy the free Plaza Mariachi Dinner Show (circus-type variety show including aerials and fire) every Saturday starting at 7 PM.

10. Go to the Spa

Though you’ll likely be grooving at Nashville’s honky tonks and sipping stageside cocktails, be sure to save room for some spa time during your Nashville girls’ weekend.

The best spas in Nashville include:

  • Escape Day Spa (located in the luxurious Belle Meade neighborhood)
  • Float Nashville (unique float tank spa!)
  • Spa by JW Marriott (located in SoBro)
  • R+R Wellness (located at the Grand Hyatt Nashville Downtown)
  • Relache (located in the Gaylord Opryland Resort)
  • The Woodhouse Day Spa (found in Midtown)

  • While on the food tour, stop to take photos at The Gulch murals (What Lifts You wings, Country Music Icons mural, and 12th and Porter mural).
  • Head to the Listening Room for a one-of-a-kind musical performance.
  • Have a nightcap cocktail at 3rd and Lindsley or 6th & Peabody lounge .

Nashville Girls Trip: Day 4

  • If you have extra time on your last day before you depart, go to brunch at Kitchen Notes in the Omni Hotel.
  • Make reservations and go to the Country Music Hall of Fame right when it opens at 9:00 AM.
  • Also, make reservations and take the shuttle from the Hall of Fame to a tour of RCA Studio B located on Music Row.

*Plan and price an RCA Studio B and Country Music Hall of Fame Admission Combo here.

In conclusion, I absolutely recommend that a girls’ weekend in Nashville be on your United States bucket list !

My quick and final tips for visiting Nashville include:

  • Stay in Downtown Nashville close to Broadway Street (Honky Tonk Highway)
  • Walk to places whenever possible to avoid having to find parking.
  • Wear good walking shoes throughout the day.
  • Visit as many honky tonks as possible!
  • ‘Must do tours’: Grand Ole Opry backstage tour, Old Town Trolley Tour.
  • ‘Must do restaurants’: Skulls Rainbow Room, The Twelve Thirty Club (especially if you’re looking for classy things to do in Nashville!)

Ranking the Patriots’ 2024 schedule from least to most exciting games

The Patriots now have dates set for when they’ll face teams in 2024.

The 2024 NFL regular-season schedule was released Wednesday, with New England learning it’ll have just one primetime game in the upcoming season. It’ll also make a trip to London in Week 7 to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Of course, the Patriots are hoping the 2024 season tells a different story than 2023 did. Jerod Mayo’s hiring has brought some excitement to the upcoming season, along with the drafting of Drake Maye, although it’s unknown when he’ll make his first NFL start.

As we await the Patriots’ decision on when to start the No. 3 overall pick, let’s rank all 17 of their regular-season games from least to most exciting.

17. Week 9 @ Tennessee Titans

Two of the worst teams in the AFC last year, the Titans and Patriots might be the easiest opponents on each other’s schedules in 2024. Will Levis, who grew up a Patriots fan in New England, won’t have a homecoming experience as the game’s in Nashville, but his added weaponry this offseason could serve as an interesting test for New England’s defense. Calvin Ridley signed with the Titans this offseason, reportedly spurning the Patriots’ high-priced offer. So, the game could also serve as a bit of revenge for New England, too.

16. Week 13 vs. Indianapolis Colts

The meeting between the two teams in Germany might have been the worst game of the 2023 NFL season. There will be different quarterbacks involved though than the ones who played in the Colts’ 10-6 win. Indianapolis will have Anthony Richardson back after a shoulder injury ended the 2022 fourth-overall pick’s rookie season, showing promise to be one of the game’s best dual-threat quarterbacks in the four games he played.

15. Week 2 vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Patriots have had some exciting opponents in their home opener in recent years, hosting the defending NFC champion Eagles last year and Lamar Jackson in 2022. This year’s home opener definitely isn’t as exciting on paper, hosting Geno Smith and Mike Macdonald in his second game as head coach. Seattle has been decent the last couple seasons, posting a winning record in each of the last two years and making the playoffs in 2022.

14. Week 17 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

If the Patriots-Colts game wasn’t the worst game of the 2023 NFL season, the Patriots-Chargers game was certainly in the mix. But there is some reason to think this game should be a bit different. The Patriots likely won’t be playing Bailey Zappe. The Chargers aren’t playing out the string in the Brandon Staley era, hiring Jim Harbaugh this past offseason. Harbaugh has overseen quick turnarounds at each stop of his coaching career, so it wouldn’t be a shock if he did the same with Justin Herbert and the team is battling for a playoff spot entering this matchup.

The one thing that could remain the same from last year’s battle is the weather. If this year’s December matchup features a downpour of rain and cold weather again, bless all of you who will be in attendance at Gillette Stadium.

13. Week 11 vs. Los Angeles Rams

A rematch of Super Bowl LIII that features almost none of the main characters. The Patriots only have a few players remaining from their 2018 Super Bowl-winning team while the Rams are also down to just a few players from their 2018 squad. But Sean McVay’s team has largely remained a contender since then, making the playoffs last year. Matthew Stafford showed he still had a bit of juice and Puka Nacua has already emerged as one of the game’s best receivers after being a fifth-round pick in 2023.

12. Week 4 @ Miami Dolphins

The Patriots have historically struggled in Miami, even having trouble picking up wins during the peak years of the dynasty era. But the last handful of games in South Florida have been slog fests, with the Patriots losing by two scores or more in their last four away games against the Dolphins. There’s not much to suggest that will change this year as Tua Tagovailoa (undefeated against the Patriots in his career) still gets to throw to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

11. Week 15 @ Arizona Cardinals

After how 2023 went, it’s possible that the late-season matchup between the Patriots and Cardinals could be a battle between two teams who are looking forward to the end of the season. But there is reasonable optimism out of Arizona that the Cardinals could be decent in 2024. Kyler Murray is fully back in the mix, returning late last season after tearing his ACL the last time the Cardinals faced the Patriots. Marvin Harrison Jr. headlined the Cardinals’ 12-player draft class, which includes seven players being selected in the first three rounds.

This is the Patriots’ first game following their bye week

But this game gets bumped a few spots because it’s the first game after the Patriots’ bye week, a possible point for when they opt to start Maye.

10. Week 3 @ San Francisco 49ers

New England gets to take on the defending NFC champion for the second straight season. As each team finished on opposite ends of the standings in 2023, this matchup actually opened up with the largest point spread for any game of the 2024 season on DraftKings Sportsbook, with the 49ers being favored by 11.5 points. Still, a rare trip to the Bay Area against one of the game’s best makes it interesting enough to not be toward the bottom of this list. An upset win for the Patriots would also be huge in one of the first games of the Mayo era.

9. Week 16 @ Buffalo Bills

The Patriots don’t face the team that’s replaced them as the top dog in the AFC East until the third-to-last week of the regular season. Highmark Stadium has also mostly been a House of Horrors for them since Tom Brady left, losing four of their last five games there. The Bills also seem to be lacking the juice they’ve had as a contender in recent years, so maybe that could make this game a bit more compelling.

8. Week 10 @ Chicago Bears

When the Patriots make the trip to Chicago, Caleb Williams will likely be starting for the Bears. We still don’t know if this will be a battle between two of the quarterbacks selected with the first three picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. If it is, this would be one of the Patriots’ most interesting games of the season. But the uncertainty on when Maye will start knocks this game down a few spots. A trip to the Windy City against a surging Bears squad makes this a top-10 game for the Patriots though in 2024.

7. Week 8 vs. New York Jets

Aaron Rodgers’s first trip to New England as a member of the Jets comes toward the middle of the season. The Jets ended their 15-game losing streak against the Patriots in last year’s regular-season finale at Gillette, ending the Bill Belichick’s time with the team in the process. With this being the Patriots’ first game back after the London trip, this could make sense as a possible spot for Maye to make his NFL debut.

6. Week 5 vs. Miami Dolphins

While the Patriots haven’t beaten Tagovailoa in his career, they’ve come close in their last two meetings against him in Foxborough. Last year’s home game against the Dolphins was one of their more exciting games of the season, falling 24-17. Christian Gonzalez showed he could hang with Hill in that game though, allowing the Dolphins star to record just five receptions for 40 yards. With Gonzalez returning from injury and the Patriots playing at home, this game should be better than their Week 4 matchup against the Dolphins.

5. Week 7 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (in London)

The Patriots’ trip to Europe this year should be better than last year’s. The Jaguars are hoping to make it back into the postseason after missing it in 2023. While Trevor Lawrence is one of the game’s better quarterbacks, this game would get more interesting from a Patriots perspective if Mac Jones wound up starting. New England traded its former starting quarterback to Jacksonville over the offseason. Still, the Patriots making their first trip to London since 2012 and taking on a formidable opponent is enough to put this game in the top five.

4. Week 1 @ Cincinnati Bengals

The Jerod Mayo era begins in Cincinnati as Joe Burrow makes his return from a wrist injury that sidelined him for the second half of last season. While the Bengals have been one of the AFC’s best teams when Burrow’s healthy, they’ve had problems at the start of the season during his time as quarterback. They’ve lost their last two season openers and Burrow’s 6-7-1 all-time in September. Cincinnati’s high-powered offense is also a good opening test for a New England defense that was among the best last year, even with Gonzalez and Matthew Judon out for the majority of the year.

3. Week 18 vs. Buffalo Bills

The Patriots could get a chance to play spoiler in their final game of the regular season, hosting a Bills team who’ll likely be contending for its fifth-straight AFC East title in 2024. New England beat Josh Allen at home last year, showing it is possible even as it had its worst team in decades. Heck, maybe the Patriots get some things to break their way this season and they’re battling for a playoff spot in this game.

Regardless, getting a win here would be one of the biggest of the season and could serve as a nice jumping point moving forward, especially if Maye is involved in any way.

2. Week 3 @ New York Jets

New England’s lone primetime game comes early in the season, making a trek to East Rutherford on a short week for “Thursday Night Football.” It’ll also serve as the Patriots’ first meeting with Rodgers since he joined the Jets last season. With it being an early season matchup, both sides should be healthy, presenting a fun battle between the Jets and their revamped offense against the Patriots’ defense.

1. Week 6 vs. Houston Texans

C.J. Stroud will make his first-ever trip to Foxborough in Week 6. One of last season’s surprises, the Texans are looking to make the next jump in their ascension. They made a pair of moves to help them do that, trading for Stefon Diggs and signing Danielle Hunter. It’s possible that the Texans are the best team the Patriots play at home this season and if Maye is starting by Week 6, it could serve as an interesting head-to-head battle with Stroud.

NFL schedule winners and losers

Chicago Bears

The Bears are gearing up for their most anticipated season in decades with the arrival of quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze to headline their exciting offseason. Those big-ticket personnel moves came on the heels of an impressive 5-3 finish to the season that drew the attention of front offices around the league.

More reason for optimism: The Bears have the third-easiest strength of schedule (.467) based on their opponents’ records in 2023.

Of note, Williams may get a chance to square off against fellow top-three picks Jayden Daniels (Commanders, Week 8) and Drake Maye (Patriots, Week 10) in a three-week stretch.

New York Jets

The Jets’ Achilles’ heel in 2024 may be their early-season schedule. (Too soon?)

Six of their first 11 games are in prime time, which will work to their benefit if they get off to a hot start and send a message to the rest of the league. But if things go south, the Jets have seen when they’re overcome with negative attention. And remember, prime-time games come with wonky scheduling quirks, including a Monday-Sunday stretch with the Bills and Steelers and a Sunday-Thursday string with the Patriots and Texans from Weeks 6-9.

They open with three games in 11 days, including road trips against the 49ers and Titans before opening at home against the Patriots. Although again, since many teams have daunting stretches in a short spurt, it’s an advantage to get it out of the way at the start of the season when they’re theoretically healthier and better rested.

But for those obstacles to turn into advantages, the Jets are going to have to answer some early-season tests.

Here's the most disadvantageous part of the schedule for the 49ers:

ALL have byes the week before playing San Francisco. That's a huge net rest disadvantage right off the bat for the 49ers. Last season's schedule also featured a big rest deficit for them

Thoughts on the Giants’ schedule:

  • If they don’t start 2-0 everyone is going to become injury guarantee experts by October.
  • Weeks 3-8 is a rough stretch. Don’t think they’d be favored in any of those games today.
  • Most of the toss-up games come in the second half of the season. Will their playoff hopes still be alive by then?

Austin Mock

Which Super Bowl contenders have the easiest path to a playoff bye?

Within the Top-10 teams in Super Bowl odds per BetMGM, the Philadelphia Eagles have the easiest schedule and it's not close. The Eagles schedule ranks as the 30th most difficult per my model and the next closest team is the Dallas Cowboys at 23rd. Compare that to the Buffalo Bills who rank 3rd and the Baltimore Ravens who rank 7th. The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs rank 15th while the Super Bowl runner up, San Francisco 49ers, rank 10th.

Joe Rexrode

Aaron Rodgers, Caleb Williams, Joe Burrow, oh my for Titans

The Tennessee Titans’ 2024 season will be one of self-discovery, a 17-game search for the answer to this question above all others: Is Will Levis the guy?

That will be about what Levis does, each week and each weekend, and it will be easier to address if he gets dynamic receiver play (likely, with Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd joining DeAndre Hopkins) and a massive upgrade in pass protection (possible, with No. 7 pick JC Latham in at left tackle and being developed by line coach Bill Callahan). But he will also be compared each week against a fascinating array of counterparts.

Find the boring quarterback on Tennessee’s schedule. You’ll come up empty. It starts right away with a trip to Chicago and the introduction of Caleb Williams – the most-anticipated QB debut in this league since Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer launched their intended takeover of the NFL in 2021. Then Aaron Rodgers and the Jets come to Nashville.

It’s all greats (Joe Burrow, Josh Allen), gigantically paid goods (Jared Goff), young elite hopefuls (Lawrence, CJ Stroud, Justin Herbert, Tua Tagovailoa, Anthony Richardson, Jordan Love) or rookie first-rounders (Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, JJ McCarthy) from there. That’ll spice up the conversation as first-year coach Brian Callahan finds out what he has in 2023 second-round pick Levis.

What should Eagles expect from 2024 schedule?

The Philadelphia Eagles will begin their attempt to renew their status as a Super Bowl contender with the NFL’s first-ever game in South America in Week 1, and they will close the regular season against a familiar NFC East rival for the third straight season. In between, there are six other teams that made the playoffs in 2023. Let’s break this down.

How will Falcons finish in 2024?

Predicted NFC South finish: First

  • Atlanta, 2. Tampa Bay, 3. New Orleans, 4. Carolina

The Falcons made the biggest offseason splash in the division by adding Kirk Cousins, which moved the betting markets into their corner. The Bucs retained Baker Mayfield and most of the core group that has won the division the last three seasons. The Saints added Chase Young, but that hardly counts as a difference-making move. Panthers first-year head coach Dave Canales is charged with jump-starting quarterback Bryce Young’s career and keeping owner David Tepper out of the headlines.

Joseph Person

No primetime for the Panthers

After the Panthers finished an NFL-worst 2-15 in 2023, Bryce Young’s second season is filled with 1 p.m., 4:05 p.m. and 4:25 p.m. start times — save for the breakfast-hour kickoff in Week 10 when the Panthers face the Giants in Munich, Germany. Carolina is the only team without a prime-time kickoff.

One game the Rams can’t afford to lose

The Rams are at Detroit Lions on Sept.8 in Week 1.

Even though there could eventually be playoff implications out of this game over the course of a long season, it will also be — for either side — about pride and making a statement to start the year. Combine the bitterness of last year’s Rams’ wild-card loss, Matthew Stafford’s twilight seasons and connections to the city, Jared Goff’s new contract, and well, this one feels as must-win as anything.

Must-watch games for Cowboys

Week 8 at 49ers, Week 17 at Eagles

There are two fairly obvious must-watch games. The Week 8 matchup against the 49ers is deep enough into the season that the Cowboys should be in a midseason groove and not dealing with early season rust or late-season fatigue. The 49ers ended the Cowboys’ 2021 and 2022 seasons in the postseason and served up a thick slice of humble pie in 2023 by delivering an embarrassing 42-10 loss to the Cowboys in Week 5 — a loss that turned the tide for Dallas’ 2023 regular season.

Circumstantially, the Week 17 game in Philadelphia could have massive implications for the division. The Cowboys and Eagles have been neck and neck in recent years and it appears that 2024 will be a continuation. Because it’s the second-to-last game of the season, there are factors that could influence the shine of that game, such as if either team spirals or gets hit by the injury bug. But if history is any indication, playoff seeding should be on the line, if not the division, and possibly the conference.

Chiefs game that has gotten tougher: Chargers, Weeks 4 and 14

A year ago, we projected the Denver Broncos to be a tougher divisional opponent for the Chiefs because of the arrival of coach Sean Payton, a future Hall of Famer. The same can be said this year of the Chargers, who hired Jim Harbaugh, who returned to the league after leading Michigan to a national championship. Harbaugh has focused on improving the Chargers’ offensive and defensive lines, and his teams often feature a strong level of toughness that is necessary to win close games. Under Harbaugh’s coaching, quarterback Justin Herbert could have a breakout season, perhaps leading the Chargers to their first playoff victory since 2018.

How will Caleb Williams era begin?

It’s a good thing that Caleb Williams isn’t afraid of the limelight because the Chicago Bears are going to be in front of a nationally televised audience more than usual for a team with a rookie quarterback.

Their 2024 schedule includes three games in prime time — ”Sunday Night Football” in Houston, “Monday Night Football” in Minnesota and “Thursday Night Football” at home against the Seattle Seahawks — in addition to two other stand-alone games — the London game against Jacksonville and Thanksgiving in Detroit.

Brutal tests in Weeks 1-11 ahead for Aaron Rodgers, Jets

Yes, that’s a long stretch. It’s not even necessarily full of intimidating opponents, but the schedule itself is daunting. The Jets have six games on the road in that stretch, including in Weeks 1 and 2. After facing a Super Bowl contender in the 49ers for the “Monday Night Football” season opener, they’ll travel to Nashville to play the Titans on a short week, then have a Week 3 home game against the Patriots on Thursday night. That means they’ll play three games in 11 days.

The Jets opted not to take their bye week following the game in London, so they won’t get a break until Week 12. After London, they host the Bills on “Monday Night Football” … with a short turnaround for another road game against the Steelers.

They’ll also face the Texans on Thursday night in Week 9, a few days after facing the Patriots on the road.

It’s a logistical nightmare and it will be interesting to see how coach Robert Saleh handles practice plans for older players like Aaron Rodgers and Tyron Smith.

Vikings' must-watch game: vs. Falcons, Week 14

Why? You know why.

Six topsy-turvy seasons. Unfulfilled expectations. After all of it, Kirk Cousins left and will be returning for the first time.

What type of reaction will the U.S. Bank Stadium crowd give him? How will he perform against the team he feels did not believe in him enough? What will his interactions be like with former teammates like Justin Jefferson and coach Kevin O’Connell? This should be emotional, juicy and entertaining all at once.

Plenty prime-time games for the Ravens

Baltimore will play at least five games in prime time, including three on the road. John Harbaugh’s team will play a Christmas Day road game for the second consecutive year. The Ravens’ bye isn’t until Week 14, and that follows a stretch where they’ll face two division rivals, Jim Harbaugh’s Los Angeles Chargers and then the Philadelphia Eagles on a short week.

There’s plenty to discuss with the Ravens’ schedule .

Is Mark Pope finished with Kentucky basketball roster? Here are 3 targets to keep eye on

cfcw nashville trip 2023

LEXINGTON — With May past its midway point, Kentucky basketball has filled 11 of its 13 available scholarships. Mark Pope , entering his first season as UK's coach, doesn't plan to let any spot go to waste.

In a recent appearance on "College Hoops Today," a podcast hosted by national reporter Jon Rothstein , Pope said filling the Wildcats ' last two scholarships is the staff's No. 1 priority. The 13th and final scholarship, Pope said, is viewed as "a floating piece" for the team.

"The way we envision it is, it could be a place for a young player," he told Rothstein. "It could be a place for a senior player who is going to take a redshirt year. It could be a place for a project. It could be a place for a high-risk guy. We're really dialed in on filling these last two spots as a priority right now."

At least one of the remaining two spots — if not both — will be another transfer portal commit. Kentucky already is set to bring in eight transfers next season:   Ansley Almonor  (Fairleigh Dickinson),  Koby Brea  (Dayton),  Lamont Butler  (San Diego State),  Andrew Carr  (Wake Forest),  Brandon Garrison  (Oklahoma State),  Kerr Kriisa  (West Virginia),  Otega Oweh  (Oklahoma) and  Amari Williams  (Drexel).

Who else might the Wildcats pluck from the transfer portal?

Here are three names to keep an eye on:

The favorites

Chaz lanier (north florida).

Kentucky is in a heated battle to land Chaz Lanier, who starred at North Florida the past four seasons. He recently visited BYU and wrapped up a trip to Lexington earlier this week. He went straight from UK's campus down to Knoxville, as Tennessee also is heavily recruiting the Nashville native.

It's easy to see why so many schools are after him.

He's a high-level scorer, averaging 19.7 points per game en route to first-team all-conference honors in the Atlantic Sun last season. As a player who can go and produce offense without needing plays drawn up for him, Lanier is seemingly the only piece Pope and the Wildcats are missing: a lead guard. Put another way: a "bucket getter."

He started 31 of the Ospreys' 32 games in 2023-24 , shooting 51% from the field (44% from 3-point range) and 86.4% at the free-throw line. Lanier failed to post a double-figure point total only one time last season, with four games of 30-plus points — topped by a 35-point outing versus North Alabama — and 15 games of 20 or more points.

Per 247Sports, he's the No. 11 overall player in the transfer portal, No. 3 among shooting guards .

Jaxson Robinson (BYU)

Jaxson Robinson has been linked to Kentucky from the moment Pope took over. That's because of their shared past: Pope coached Robinson the last two seasons at BYU .

Robinson had a breakout season in 2023-24, leading the Cougars in scoring (14.2 points per game) as he captured the Big 12's Sixth Man of the Year award. He also was an honorable mention for the All-Big 12 team, sinking 35.4% (81 for 229) of his attempts beyond the 3-point arc.

If Robinson indeed commits to Kentucky, it would be his fourth stop as a collegian.

Prior to his two-season stint at BYU, he played for Arkansas  during the 2021-22 campaign. Robinson spent his freshman season (2020-21) at  Texas A&M .

The biggest holdup is that Robinson is going through the NBA draft process. He could elect to keep his name in the draft. But if he decides to return to the college ranks, only one outcome is anticipated.

In a story posted last week from the NBA draft combine in Chicago, The Deseret News cited multiple sources who told the paper, "if Robinson decides to withdraw from the draft, they fully expect him to be playing for Kentucky next season."

A long shot (but still another one to watch)

Wooga poplar (miami).

While Kentucky isn't considered a front-runner for Wooga Poplar, it isn't entirely out of the race for the former Miami guard. For now, the favorite is perceived to be Villanova, as he's from Philadelphia. Rothstein reported last week Poplar was on a visit to Villanova that day "and will visit Oregon soon, per his father."

Last month, Poplar's father told another national college basketball reporter, Adam Zagoria , that his son "probably" would visit UK.

"They want him," Poplar's father told Zagoria regarding the Wildcats.

As of May 21, that visit has not happened.

That hasn't been a deal breaker for Pope's program before, though. Both Butler and Garrison committed to Kentucky without stepping foot in Lexington.

If Poplar spurns his hometown Wildcats of Villanova and the Ducks of Oregon, what kind of player would the Cats of Kentucky inherit?

The 6-foot-5, 197-pound guard averaged 13.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists last season for the Hurricanes.

When Miami visited Rupp Arena last season in the inaugural edition of the ACC/SEC Challenge , Poplar had 19 points and eight rebounds, albeit in a losing effort, as Kentucky rolled to a 95-73 victory .
