The setting of your stay in a 4-star hotel in Rome like the Piram Hotel is that of a XIX century palazzo that has been recently renovated. Great care was taken during the restoration of the hotel to maintain the vintage style and furnishings of the era and the recovery of many internal structures, like the ancient marble and travertine staircase, the Venetian mosaic floors, the ceilings with their original stucco and decorations and the early XX century elevator, in perfect working order and in keeping with all the safety regulations, just like the more modern second elevator.

Chilean Fjords, Antartica

Rugged & Remote Landscapes

Cruising the most remote of unspoilt straits in the world aboard Borealis is an experience like no other. Our epic voyage allows you to witness awe-inspiring natural beauty of the Antarctic Peninsula, and its wonders, wildlife and waters. With three days of scenic cruising the region on this journey, you’ll experience the might of its snow-capped mountains and the sheer volume of icebergs and glaciers. Surrounded by majestic glaciers and peaks, the Chilean Fjords are full of hidden lakes and waterfalls, created by glacial activity. The nutrient-rich waters here are home to wildlife such as Magellan penguins, dolphins, seals and the one of the largest birds in the world, the Andean Condor, which you may see during your days spent scenic cruising. Join us on a tour from Buenos Aires to experience the thunderous cascade of waterfalls at Iguazu Falls, surrounded by lush, tropical landscapes.

Samba dancers at the Rio Carnival, Brazil

Life in Latin America

Your cruise to Rio de Janeiro has been perfectly timed for you to experience the iconic Carnival in the Sambadrome, a dazzling display of extravagant costumes and dance to sizzling samba rhythms. The dance theme is strong in Argentina where you’ll have the opportunity to see the sensual, soulful and intricately placed footwork of the Argentinian Tango. The cowboy culture of South America is strongly woven into local culture, with their nomadic lifestyle of herding cattle using skilled horsemanship. Deeply connected to the vast landscapes of Argentina and Uruguay, the Gaucho embrace the rustic lifestyle of living off the land.

Group of Magellanic penguins on shore, Falklands

South American Wildlife

Borealis will take you on a voyage to see some of the most fascinating and endemic wildlife species in the world. When in the Falkland Islands, you’ll have the chance to witness majestic Magellan Penguins, orange-billed Gentoo Penguins and Rockhopper Penguins, as they nest in many of the islands across the archipelago. The rich biodiversity of Ballestas Islands in Peru offer sanctuary to sealions and penguins, allowing them to breed or make home on the rocky shores; while the isolated Galapagos Islands are home to a number of rare species of animals, including giant tortoises, penguins and the world’s largest bird, the waved albatross, which can be visited on a thrilling overland tour from Borealis . Costa Rica is renowned for its diverse array of wildlife inhabiting tropical rainforests and national parks. Join us on tour to encounter wildlife like the howler monkey, the slow-moving sloth and brightly coloured toucans.

Craig v. plathe.

Plathe, Craig V. 77, resident of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Tonka Bay, MN, passed away on January 19, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 10:30 am at St Martin's By-the-Lake Episcopal Church, PO Box 38, 2801 Westwood Rd., Minnetonka Beach, MN 55361. Interment of Craig's ashes will follow at St Martin's Memorial Gardens. Following the interment, a light lunch will be served for family and friends. Craig was born December 22, 1946 in St Paul, MN, the first born of Vince and Marcella. He graduated Madison High School and then Moorhead State University with a degree in Business Management. On February 8, 1969, Craig and Beverly Frye were married in Madison, Minnesota. He worked for the City of Minneapolis Assessor's Office until his retirement in 1998. As a registered nurse Bev worked in hospitals throughout the Metro area. Buying their home on Gideon's Bay was a highlight for them. They loved living at the lake. Life was busy, entertaining in the front yard and gardening in the back. Extended family looked forward to the annual July 4th camp out. Tents were pitched in the front yard with a view of the lake. Time passed quickly with conversation & games, including volleyball, croquet, and water sports. The weekend was capped off by a water's edge fireworks display, impressive and maybe a little dangerous. Craig and Bev travelled across the world to East Asia, Europe, Australia, North and South America. Their adventures are documented in many photo albums. Tragically, Bev passed away in 2005. After several years, Craig moved to The Villages, and immersed himself in the many activities that were available. He met Elizabeth, and the calendar filled up with dances, swimming, golf, cruises, concerts, theatre, billiards, parties, and more golf. He was at home in the Sunshine State. Craig served six years as a member of Battery B, 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery, attached to the Minnesota National Guard, Madison MN. Hunting with family and friends was a favorite fall activity. Throughout his life he stayed in touch with his Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity brothers and other long-time friends. May he rest in peace. Craig is survived by his son David (Rosalba); sisters, Mary Wallace; Susan (Larry) Marsolek; Elizabeth (Charles) Schmoker; brothers, Patrick (Gail); Paul (Christine); eleven nieces and nephews and Elizabeth Brown, with whom he shared a committed relationship. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly; his sister Margaret, and brother-in-law Mark. To view the service via Zoom us02web.zoom.us/j/…
