Possible help for cooling on Voyager 1700
23 posts · Joined 2021. #1 · Apr 12, 2023. Ok so I had an issue with my cooling on my 2010 Voyager 1700. After replacing my heads and jug due to overheating, I found that adjusting my idle to +150 helps keep it a little cooler when sitting idle.

Guys with 1700 heat problems, let me know here. Ok, I've seen enough and received enough emails to know there is a real issue for some of these bikes. These are water cooled bikes and should not go into the red if your in traffic for a bit or working a marathon.

Voyager 1700 Running Hot
You can see 80 mph, temp 90, time 4:15 pm, alt 6,500 to 7,500 ft. This is a 2012 Voyager 1700, I took delivery December 27, 2011. The ODO is displaying 98,365 miles. I've installed a K & N air filter, use Amsoil 10-40 wt, Kawasaki coolant. The coolant temp stayed over to the right all day.
Overheating
The bike is liquid cooled so I would not expect this kind of overheating issue? Any other reason or causes that are common to this bike? It does have 62K Miles on it, previous owner stated that Coolant was changed at dealer recently. He has only ran synthetic oil in the bike since new. Could it be what ever map is loaded on the ...

The more specific as to where the heat is coming from. Such as being blown on to you about a blower or is it radiating heat from the engine?

Vulcan 1700 Running Hot. Hi, I'm new to this forum and also new to my 2009 Vulcan 1700 LT. Only 400 miles and I love this bike, but it sure seems to run hot. With the daytime temperature up in the high 80's, this bike is almost unbearable at stop lights.
