Explore three cities in a package tour for Turkey, Egypt, and Israel!

Our tour is physically active. We believe the best way to get to the heart of a city is on foot, surrounded by the people and the culture. For this reason, we do walking tours through most of the cities we visit. It will be a vigorous pace with a great deal of walking on ancient pavements, up and down stairs, and hilly terrain. Expect to be on your feet, walking and standing, indoors and outdoors, and in all weather conditions. It is not recommended for physically challenged travelers who need assistance walking or those with limited stamina or mobility.

All itineraries are subject to adjustment as required. Confirmed, final, and detailed itineraries (and additional important travel details) are posted on your Personal BCT Travel Desktop, approximately one month from departure.

Overnight: Istanbul hotel

  • Today we begin with a visit to the world famous Hagia Sophia Church which is now a museum. Constructed by Emperor Justinianos as a church at the beginning of the 6th Century, Hagia Sophia remained the largest cathedral in the world for almost a thousand years and is considered the 8th Wonder of the World. The Church was converted into a mosque in 1453 and subsequently into a museum in 1935.
  • Continue to the cascading domes and six slender minarets of the Sultan Ahmet Mosque (better known as the " Blue Mosque "), which dominates the skyline of Istanbul.
  • In the 17th century, Sultan Ahmet I. wished to build an Islamic place of worship that would be even better than the Hagia Sophia , and the mosque named for him is the result.
  • The two great architectural achievements now stand next to each other in Istanbul's main square, and it is up to visitors to decide which is more impressive. The Blue Mosque was commissioned by Sultan Ahmet when he was only 19 years old. It was built near the Hagia Sophia , over the site of the ancient hippodrome and Byzantine imperial palace (whose mosaics can be seen in the nearby Mosaic Museum ). Construction work began in 1609 and took seven years. The mosque was designed by architect Mehmet Aga . Sultan Ahmet was so anxious for his magnificent creation to be completed that he often assisted in the work. Sadly, he died just a year after the completion of his masterpiece, at the age of 27. He is buried outside the mosque with his wife and three sons.
  • The original mosque complex included a madrasa, a hospital, a han, a primary school, a market, an imaret and the tomb of the founder. Most of these buildings were torn down in the 19th century.
  • Walking through the ancient Hippodrome where the chariot races took place in antiquity, we will get to the Basilica Cistern , a wonderfully serie underground chamber built by Justinian in 537 AND and comprised of 336 columns.
  • Come back to our Istanbul hotel.
  • Today’s touring begins with a visit to the magnificent Topkapi Palace , the residence of the Ottoman Sultans for 400 years.
  • Enjoy the exquisite collection of Chinese porcelain, the stunning Imperial Treasury including the "Spoonmaker's Diamond" aka the Kasikci Diamond , which is the third largest diamond in the world and the Topkapi Dagger .
  • We leave the Palace and view the Egyptian Obelisks , which are the oldest historical works in Istanbul. These stones, which were made of pink granite, were constructed in year 390 in the era of Theodosius .
  • Visit the Spice Market , followed by a cruise along the Bosphorus , which separates Asia from Europe.
  • Our final stop is the Grand Covered Bazaar with 4000 tiny shops.
  • Check out of our hotel.
  • An early departure takes us from our hotel to the airport for our continuing flight home to the USA.
  • We return home exhausted but exhilarated by 12 days exploring Israel and Istanbul.

Turkey Tours & Cruise Packages 2024, 2025

Prepare yourself for a journey to the lands of ancient treasures and Christian history. Join others in fulfilling the dream of walking where the apostles walked. Each of our Turkey tours is led by a local guide who is an expert on the historical, cultural, scenic, and spiritual history of this ancient country. Imagine walking through the lands of the Churches of Revelation with visits to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. Some packages include touring of Cappadocia, Konya, Istanbul, Troy, and Izmir (among other locations). If you’re looking to take a longer journey, and an Aegean cruise, consider continuing on to Greece on one of our Footsteps of Paul and John tours.

Below is a list of various Turkey tour packages departing year-round.

Reserve your tour at least 6 months in advance for an early booking discount, groups and parties of 6 or more click here for special rates, scheduled 2024 & 2025 turkey tours/cruises, group options, featured sites in turkey.

These are a few of the sites you can visit in Turkey, depending on the tour chosen:

Ephesus is clearly the crown jewel of the 7 Churches of Revelation . Ephesus was once a bustling port town, and you can still see the beautiful remains of that town today. During your visit to Ephesus, you can check out the library, the theater, and the ancient port. You’ll also have a chance to visit the Basilica Church of St. John. With ancient architecture and a wealth of Christian history, Ephesus is one of the most popular visits on our Turkey tours.

Smyrna — or Izmir — is another one of the 7 Churches of Revelation. As the third-largest city in Turkey, there’s a lot to do and see. While visiting Izmir, you’ll enjoy a visit to the Church of Polycarp and the ancient Agora. Izmir is normally the first city your tour will visit for many of our Turkey and Greece tour options.

Pergamum is where the first executions of Christians by Rome took place. We offer several Turkey tour packages that give you a chance to visit this ancient Greek city. During your visit to Pergamum, you’ll see the Acropolis, the Royal Gates, and the ruins of the Library of Pergamum. We’ll also take a look at the foundations of the Altar of Zeus, which was built in the 2nd century BC.

Thyatira used to be a busy trading post where wool workers, dyers, leather workers, and potters would come to sell and trade goods. This ancient city has also gone by two other names throughout its history: Pelopia and Semiramis. Thyatira may have been one of the cities the Apostle Paul visited during his second or third journey. A storied history and several Christian landmarks make Thyatira a popular destination during your Biblical tour of Turkey.

While Thyatira was home to many dyers and wool workers, Sardis is where the practice of dying wool began. While you’re in Sardis, you can visit the gymnasium and synagogue to get a better feel for the city and what it might have been like thousands of years ago. As one of the 7 Churches of Revelation, Sardis is an essential place to see during our Christian fellowship tours .

Philadelphia

After you’re finished seeing Sardis, you can take a trip to nearby Philadelphia to see the remains of this once-great city. Philadelphia was conquered by the Ottomans in 1390, so there isn’t a whole lot left to see in this ancient city. Still, Philadelphia is a revered historical Christian location because it played an important role in the Book of Revelation. Today, the ancient wall and the remains of a Byzantine basilica are all that remain.

Another ancient city that’s been reduced to ruins, Laodicea is the last of the 7 Churches of Revelation. Today, the city is home to a long stretch of ruins, giving you a look into the past of an ancient civilization. Among the ruins are the remains of an ancient stadium and an older but surprisingly sophisticated water system. The historical significance of Laodicea makes it a popular destination during our tours in Israel , Turkey, and Greece.

When is the best time to book a tour to Turkey?

You can visit Turkey or take a tour of Jordan and Israel during any time of the year — but weather is one of several factors to consider. You might want to avoid visiting Turkey during certain months when the weather is exceptionally hot or cold. For ideal weather, you should visit sometime from April -June or from September -October. If you like cooler/moderate temperatures, we recommend visiting in February-March or November. Keep in mind that Turkey — like many countries — is busier during certain parts of the year. If you want to avoid large crowds, you can book one of our Turkey tours during the offseason. No matter when you decide to book your tour, we offer tours to Turkey that fit your schedule. You can check out some of our Turkey tour packages to learn more about our tours and save money by booking your tour early.

What is the Churches of Revelation?

The Seven Churches of Revelation are seven important churches in the times of Early Christianity. These churches — Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea — are also called the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse or the Seven Churches of Asia. As home to early Christian civilizations, these cities played an essential role in the Book of Revelation and the early history of Christianity. Taking a Israel 10-day tour or a tour of the Seven Churches of Revelation allows you to experience Christian history firsthand.

From our past customers

I wanted to send this note to thank you for all your hard work in making our trip to Greece one we will always remember. You answered the hundreds of questions we had promptly and never got upset when we would ask for alternatives or change our minds several times. We were extremely satisfied with your advice on what islands to go to and your selection of hotels. They were just what we were looking for. The transfers were always there waiting for us and everything from start to finish went very smoothly. I don't know too many travel agents that give out their cell phone numbers just in case we had problems. I would not hesitate to highly recommend you to our friends and any others that are thinking of traveling to Greece. Thank you again and do not hesitate to use us as a reference!

IDF fires artillery shells into Gaza as fighting between Israeli troops and Islamist Hamas militants continues on Oct. 12, 2023.

Middle East crisis — explained

The conflict between Israel and Palestinians — and other groups in the Middle East — goes back decades. These stories provide context for current developments and the history that led up to them.

Turkey halts all trade with Israel over military actions in Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is shown speaking during a joint statement to the media in Baghdad, on April 22, 2024.

ANKARA, Turkey — Turkey on Thursday suspended all imports and exports to Israel citing the country's ongoing military action in Gaza and vowed to continue to impose the measures until the Israeli government allows the flow of humanitarian aid to the region.

A Turkish Trade Ministry statement said "export and import transactions in relation to Israel have been stopped, covering all products."

Turkish officials would coordinate with Palestinian authorities to ensure that Palestinians are not affected by the suspension of imports and exports, the ministry said.

The ministry described the step as the "second phase" of measures against Israel, adding that the steps would remain in force until Israel "allows an uninterrupted and sufficient flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza."

Last month, Turkey — a staunch critic of Israel's military actions — announced that it was restricting exports of 54 types of products to Israel, including aluminum, steel, construction products and chemical fertilizers. Israel responded by also announcing trade barriers.

Middle East

Why israel is losing the war of global public opinion over its tactics in gaza.

Earlier on Thursday, Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz accused Turkey of blocking Israeli imports and exports from Turkish ports.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan "is breaking agreements by blocking ports for Israeli imports and exports," Katz wrote on the social platform X.

Katz said he had instructed officials to "immediately engage with all relevant parties in the government to create alternatives for trade with Turkey, focusing on local production and imports from other countries."

Erdogan's government, which suffered major setbacks in local elections in March, is faced with intense pressure at home to halt trade with Israel. Critics accuse the government of engaging in double standards by leveling strong accusations against Israel while pressing ahead with commercial relations.

Turkey recognized Israel in 1949. Under Erdogan, tensions have ebbed and flowed between the countries. The Turkish leader stepped up his criticism of Israel following its military offensive in Gaza, accusing it of carrying out war crimes and genocide. He has described the Hamas militant group, considered a terrorist organization by Israel, the United States and the European Union, as freedom fighters.

This week, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Turkey had decided to join the legal case filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice and would soon submit a formal request to intervene in the case.

South Africa filed a case at the ICJ accusing Israel of breaching the Genocide Convention with its military offensive against Hamas. Israel denies that its military campaign in Gaza amounts to a breach of the Genocide Convention.
