Top 10 Trails in Georgia
By: Laura Stark July 22, 2021
With 200+ miles of open rail-trail—and more in the works—Georgia is the South’s preeminent trail state. Burgeoning trail networks, like the Atlanta BeltLine and Columbus’ Dragonfly Trails , in its major cities, as well as segments of the national East Coast Greenway , are a testament to the growing status of the Peach State in the trail movement. Not to be outdone by their big-city cousins, several rural rail-trail projects are also actively being pursued, including the 39-mile Firefly Trail and 21-mile Man O’ War Railroad Recreation Trail . From urban settings bursting with cultural attractions to tranquil rides through bucolic countryside, here’s a look at some of Georgia’s best trail experiences.
Silver Comet Trail
Counties: Cobb, Paulding, Polk
Seamlessly connected and spanning 94 miles across two states, Georgia’s Silver Comet Trail and Alabama’s Chief Ladiga Trail together offer one of the longest paved rail-trail routes in the country. From Smyrna, on the outskirts of Atlanta, west to Esom Hill, on the state border, the Silver Comet Trail offers many nods to its past life as a railroad corridor. From its vantage point of 100 feet above the water, the Pumpkinvine Creek Trestle offers quite a view, and the 700-foot-long Brushy Mountain Tunnel is another impressive sight along the route.
Atlanta BeltLine
County: Fulton
When complete, the Atlanta BeltLine will form a 22-mile loop around the city, with another 11 miles of spur trail that tie into the surrounding neighborhoods. Linking public parks, mass transit stations, schools and businesses, the developing rail-trail is already proving its worth. In 2021, a property tax increase was approved to spur its completion by 2030, and a connection to the Silver Comet Trail is planned.
Favorite spots along the route include Piedmont Park , the crown jewel of Atlanta’s park system, and Historic Fourth Ward Park , centered around a two-acre lake.
Augusta Canal Trail
County: Richmond
Eastern Georgia’s Augusta Canal Trail follows an old towpath that is enveloped in history, paralleling the oldest continuously operating hydropower canal in the United States. Nestled into the state’s first National Heritage Area , wanderers will find textile mills dating back to the late 1800s, the house of George Walton (a signer of the Declaration of Independence) and a towering brick chimney once used in the manufacture of gunpowder during the Civil War.
Tucked between the canal and the Savannah River, the nearly 8-mile, natural-surface pathway sits in a green oasis, where the recreational opportunities seem almost boundless. Guided boat tours are a great way to learn about the 19th-century canal, and the waterway also offers fishing opportunities and an easy, family-friendly paddle with canoes and kayaks.
TRAIL OF THE MONTH: Georgia’s Augusta Canal Trail (August 2018)
Carrollton greenbelt .
County: Carroll
The Carrollton GreenBelt loops around its eponymous city, providing access to neighborhoods, shopping areas, several schools (including the University of West Georgia ) and a handful of popular parks. Across its 17 miles, travelers can enjoy open pastures, stands of tall trees, and picturesque lakes and rivers. Its construction began a decade ago, and its reach is still expanding, with neighborhood connections tying into the loop; just this year, a new milelong spur to downtown was opened.
Arabia Mountain PATH
Counties: DeKalb, Rockdale
Southeast of Atlanta, the Arabia Mountain PATH is a regional trail system following a sinuous 30-mile course through lush river valleys with views of granite outcroppings, wildlife-rich wetlands and woodland waterfalls. Highlights of the route include Panola Mountain State Park and the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area , offering pristine natural greenspace and intriguing historical sites. Along the way, the area’s agricultural heritage can be explored with visits to the Alexander Barn and Lyon Farm , one of the oldest homesteads in DeKalb County.
Columbus Fall Line Trace
County: Muscogee
Beginning in central Columbus, the Columbus Fall Line Trace guides city residents out to natural areas, taking an 11-mile northeast course to—and just beyond—Flat Rock Park, a great spot for a recreational outing with a lake and waterfall in a wooded setting.
At its western end, the trail joins the Chattahoochee Riverwalk , just north of Woodruff Riverfront Park, for another 15 miles of riding along the city’s waterfront. Both trails are part of the city’s developing Dragonfly Trails network, which will span more than 60 miles when complete.
Jekyll Island Trail
County: Glynn
On Georgia’s southeast coast, the Jekyll Island Trail offers a combination of loops and connecting trails that make up a 24-mile route traversing the 5,700-acre barrier island. The trail falls within the island’s state park, and recreational amenities abound. Travelers can use the trail system to explore beaches, coastal forests and a wildlife-viewing tower, as well as reach picnic areas, shops and the Historic Landmark District. Soon, the trail will be accessible to even more bike tourists as a connection to the state’s East Coast Greenway route is slated to begin in 2025.
Big Creek Greenway
Counties: Forsyth, Fulton
Spanning nearly 20 miles through the northern suburbs of Atlanta, the Big Creek Greenway offers a natural oasis for residents. Winding through a handful of parks and with some sections heavily forested, travelers might see wild turkeys, blue herons or deer along its scenic route.
Although the popular pathway currently has a short gap in its middle through Alpharetta, plans are in the works to stitch the trail’s two halves together, as well as to create a connection to Alpharetta’s Alpha Loop , another trail project that’s just getting off the ground. The Big Creek Greenway was also extended northward in June 2021 to reach the Sawnee Mountain Preserve , a beautiful hiking area with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Tom White Linear Park
County: Colquitt
Beginning in the heart of Moultrie, the Tom White Linear Park quickly whisks travelers away from the city center, heading 7 miles south beside quiet roads in rural South Georgia. The former rail corridor still serves important transportation needs today, connecting residents to businesses, a stadium, an art center, a recreation complex and the municipal airport. Completed in 2002, the paved pathway is as pretty as it is practical, with tall trees lining the route. It’s named after the late Tom White, a beloved local high school football coach.
Bill and Dustie MacKay Trail
County: Rabun
The Bill and Dustie MacKay Trail packs an unexpected amount of charm into its 1.7 miles. Nestled in Tallulah Gorge State Park , the paved path meanders through an Appalachian forest and crosses a small suspension bridge over the Tallulah River. The route follows the easy grade of the late 19th-century Tallulah Falls Railway, which once shuttled tourists to the park’s spectacular gorge and waterfalls.
Round out your adventures by kayaking down the river or hiking one of the park’s more challenging trails that scale the nearly 1,000-foot granite walls of Tallulah Gorge. And be sure to stop in the Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center to pick up a trail map and view the historical exhibits.

Honorable mentions.
Although the McQueen’s Island Trail is currently closed for repair and improvements, it’s slated to reopen by late August 2021, so we wanted to be sure it was on our list! If you’re planning an excursion on the trail, check its status on the Chatham County Parks and Recreation website before you head out.
Built on a stretch of the Savannah & Atlantic Railroad line, the 6-mile rail-trail offers a salt-air excursion for nature lovers and history buffs alike. From its trailhead on the eastern outskirts of Savannah, the gravel pathway parallels the South Channel of the Savannah River, a major shipping route and entry point to the Port of Savannah. Short bridges spirit you across saltwater marshes, and coastal cedars and other native vegetation line this picturesque trail. And don’t miss a visit to Fort Pulaski National Monument , a colonial fort used by the Union Army during the Civil War.

New for 2024: This addition to our Spring and Fall schedule takes you through the amazing low country of Georgia. Historic, scenic towns of Savannah, Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island are among the destination towns on this tour.
The coastal areas of Georgia are extremely flat with the exception of some bridges and overpasses. On this tour we will utilize over 50 miles of paved trails on St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. Although there are few trails around Savannah, there are wonderfully marked bike lanes in the Historic district and low volume roads leading to Isle of Hope and Wormsloe Plantation.
This all-inclusive tour includes upscale hotel accommodations and is designed for recreational to intermediate cyclists who love riding an average of 20-40 miles per day on paved trails, a few unpaved trails, and streets with bike lanes and shoulders. We recommend a modest pace of 10-12 miles per hour or slower if you would like to take in the natural beauty and wildlife the area has to offer.
The scheduled springtime tour is perfectly timed for the blooms of azaleas and other native plants. The weather is perfect, and the tourists have not arrived for the summer season. And the late October tour is the perfect Indian summer weather. Wildlife is abundant. Alligators, nesting egrets, eagles, and Loggerhead turtles can easily be viewed from a distance. There are three wildlife areas where we have great viewing opportunities:
- Sea Turtle Center of GA
- Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge
- Driftwood Beach
Our three destinations are loaded with history. In our short stay in Savannah, we will ride to Wormsloe Plantation and Bonaventure Cemetery and cycle past dozens of historic squares, fountains, and parks.
Think of bringing a bike with a 32cm tires for riding the roads and possibly the beaches at low tide. Both St. Simons Island and Jekyll have beautiful, natural, gently sloping beaches great for riding, walking or sunbathing.
Take your time and enjoy your ride. The support van will be a few miles up the road should you need assistance. We welcome e-bikes and 2-wheel recumbents but do not have transportation space for trikes. There will be no camping with this group. Just very nice hotels and great dining out.
The tour starts in Savannah, GA and ends in Jekyll Island. Transportation back to your car or to the airport in Savannah is included in this tour price. You may opt to come early and stay late and enjoy a little beach time.
Accommodations include 1 night at DoubleTree Savannah, 2 nights at Sea Island Inn, St. Simons Island, and 2 nights at Jekyll Island Club Hotel.

The Georgia Isles: A Golden Opportunity
Ivory sand and salty air. The warm kiss of the sun. Spanish moss, hanging in heavy green curtains from trees older than the state itself. Birdsong, and the silken sound of the wind flowing through the marsh grasses. This is what awaits you in Georgia’s Golden Isles. These islands are a perfect snapshot of the best of the South, so slow down, stay a while, and open your heart wide.
The Isles are a delight to every sense, and we’ll experience them not as a blur behind the window of a car, but firsthand at the pace of a bicycle. Read on to find out more about what’s in store for you as Great Bike Tours heads to Georgia’s Golden Isles.
History of the Isles
The Golden Isles pack about three hundred years of history into the old city of Brunswick on the mainland and four little barrier islands: St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Jekyll Island, and Little St. Simons Island. The Isles are the southerly portion of the eleven barrier islands along the coast of Georgia, against the Atlantic Ocean.
Georgia’s Golden Isles are crisscrossed with walking and biking trails. Follow them, and you’ll find along the way some of Georgia’s oldest establishments, many of which played an important role before Georgia became a state. Some of these include:
- Simons Lighthouse. The lighthouse guards the entrance to St. Simons Sound, and helps protect ships against dangerous sandbars just beneath the beguiling blue waves. The St. Simons Lighthouse Museum houses old photos and items from hundreds of years ago.
- Ford Frederica, a national monument built in 1736 by General James Oglethorpe of Great Britain to guard against Spanish expansion. The Battle of Bloody Marsh was fought nearby in 1742, expelling Spanish forces from the area, and General Oglethorpe would go on to found the city of Savannah.
- Christ Church on St. Simons Island. This church heard the sermons of Charles and John Wesley, who would go on to play pivotal roles in the founding of the Methodist and Episcopal denominations. First built in 1820, the church was left in ruins by Union forces in the Civil War, but was rebuilt in 1884 to a structure that has changed little to the present day. Look around in the cemetery and you’ll find headstones bearing names of some of Georgia’s earliest builders, statesmen, and authors.
Bike Tour Details
We get to spend 6 days in the Isles. We’ll start by spending a night in Savannah, and from there we’ll head south to St. Simons Island for two nights, then to Jekyll Island for another two nights. At the end, we’ll deliver you safely back to the Savannah airport for your journey home. We promise you won’t want to leave! Here are just a few of the things you’ll see as we bike through Georgia’s Golden Isles:
- A guided tour of Savannah on a 15-person bike.
- An easy ride on paved bike paths along St. Simons and Jekyll Islands, which wind through over fifty miles that display the full beauty of the Isles.
- A visit to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, which helps protect and study loggerhead sea turtles.
- A cruise just for us on a commercial shrimp boat. Later, we get to eat some of the freshest shrimp you can get!
- The sight of shorebirds taking wing from the Marshes of Glynn.
We’ll make sure all your needs are taken care of while we’re on the tour. This includes five nights of comfortable lodging, van support at all times, a rental bike and helmet, maps, even a water bottle with our logo.
Other Attractions
After experiencing our tour of Georgia’s Golden Isles, you’ll want to return to the area again and again. Here are some items we like best:
Food of the Isles
The Georgia Isles offer some of the best, freshest food to be had. If you love seafood, you’ll be in heaven as we enjoy fare like shrimp and oysters right off the boat. The fertile soil produces delicious produce, like tomatoes both tangy and sweet, and cucumbers as crisp as an autumn apple. Ask each restaurant who makes the best sweet tea, and you’ll quickly agree that they all do.
Georgia Culture
The Southern United States are well-known for their hospitality, and as we bike in Georgia’s Golden Isles, you’ll see that the area is no exception. The culture of the Isles is deep and rich, with influences from the peoples that have resided there over the centuries and the many peoples that have visited the seaports for commerce.
Flora and Fauna
If you love plants and wildlife, biking in Georgia’s Golden Isles offers no shortage of sights and sounds. The heady scent of wisteria, drooping in purple-blue clusters. Dogwood trees, covering pathways with their soft petals in colors ranging from snowy white to a deep pink blush. Watch armadillos trundle through the underbrush, see dolphins leap from swell to swell in the ocean and rivers, and if you can spot them, you might see fallow and white-tailed deer watching you from between the trees.

WHAT ABOUT THE RIDE?
On your bike, making your way, there are 4 ways to find your way while riding brag: .
1. RIDE GUIDE
The BRAG Ride Guide is the answer to most of your questions! Route maps and turn-by-turn cue sheets are available for each day in the Ride Guide. Take it with you on your bike!
There will be BRAG arrows at every turn to tell you which way to turn. If there is no arrow it, means go straight. Please exercise caution here (and look for ROAD MARKINGS) as sometimes people like to collect our signs.
3. ROAD MARKINGS
We have marked routes for BRAG riders. You will find BRAG's trademark circle with a hash mark in the direction of travel before, at, and after each turn. This will assure your decisions along the way! Roads are not marked in downtown areas or in areas where it is prohibited (like on bike trails).
4. RIDE WITH GPS
All BRAG Routes are available for free on Ride With GPS . Download the smart phone app and load the respective day routes. Use it. Love it.
Rest Stops!
BRAG rest stops are located every 15-20 miles on the routes each day. Rest stops are indicated on the route maps in the RIDE GUIDE. Stops are stocked with hydration, nutritious snacks, first-aid kits, and porta-potties.
Be on the lookout for a fun stop along the way!
Support and Gear (SAG)
Along the route there will be SAG support vehicles. They can be identified by the yellow BRAG flags they will be flying from the windows. Use SAG if you need mechanical help, have a non-emergency medical issue, or you cannot complete your ride for the day
To stop a SAG vehicle, simply tap your palm on the top of your helmet. If you are waiting for a SAG vehicle, please place your bike upside down perpendicular to the road.
The phone number for SAG is 404.382.7747 (also on y our wrist band) for immediate assistance. Call 911 in the case of an emergency.
On-Site Bike Mechanics
Aztec Cycles will be on hand each day to keep your bicycle finely tuned!
Rider Expectation
Safety first.
BRAG events take place on public right of ways. We ask motor vehicles to share the road, so we must extend the same courtesy. As much as possible we travel on low traffic roads, however we will need to travel on roads with higher traffic volume from time to time. Please review the BRAG Safety Pledge you were required to sign to participate in this BRAG event. Please consult the rider handbook provided by Georgia Bikes for more safety information.
YOU MUST STOP AT ALL STOP SIGNS AND RED LIGHTS!! Obey all traffic control devices and exercise caution crossing rail road tracks and road crossings!
- You are responsible for your own safety - BRAG assists as much as possible in ensuring a safe ride, however you are in control of your ride and safety. Please read carefully the cue sheets and take note of hazards outlined. Also be on the look out for BRAG signs on the roadway warning of hazards. Hazards are always being created and note we can not warn participants of every potential or existing hazard. Cycling can be a dangerous sport - take safety seriously!
- You must obey all traffic laws and traffic control devices.
- Wear a helmet and ensure your gear is properly functioning.
- Communicate with other cyclists to keep each other safe - please yell, when appropriate, "car back", "car up", "rider on", "rider off", etc. Communicate about hazards such as RR tracks, pot holes, rumbles, debris in the road, cracks, animals, etc. Do not yell "CLEAR" as what is clear for you may not be for others.
- Visibility - See and be seen, wear bright clothes, reflective clothing and use lights.
- Bicycle lanes and shoulders - please use them when possible and safe to do so.
- Report dangerous motorists and cyclists.
- In the event of rain, the road and road tires can be slick and brakes can slip. Normal conditions may become more hazardous, especially rail road tracks.
- In the event of lightning, take appropriate action and exercise caution.
This is a ride, not a race. We encourage you to stop and smell the roses and get a true taste for the vibrant fiber and culture of Georgia.

BIG BRAG FAQs
How much does it cost.
For up-to-date registration prices, please see the registration page.
My plans have changed. Can I get a refund?
Change of Plans? Read the complete refund policy here.
Can I ride an eBike?
YES! EBikes are permitted on any Georgia Ride, so long as they comply with Georgia DOT laws. You can read more about those laws here.
You are responsible for making sure you have enough juice to make it to wherever you're going.
Where do we stay?
On Big BRAG you have the option of staying indoors or camping outdoors in each overnight location. Outdoor camping is included in the fee.
On-site indoor camping is limited. Please visit the registration page for more info.
While shuttles to designated hotels are available, hotels are not included in the fee and you must book them on your own.
What should I bring?
We have prepared a packing list for you prepared by veteran BRAG riders. You are allowed two bags of no more than 50lbs each. We recommend putting your clothes in gallon ziplock bags
What do the registration fees cover?
The weekly fee entitles you to electronic maps, BRAG Ride Guide, access to outdoor camping, nightly entertainment/live bands, hot showers, extra porta-potties at overnight sites, rest stops every 15 - 20 miles (with hydration, nutrition, porta-potties), SAG wagon support on the route, daily baggage transportation to the next overnight campsites, access to medical team, security team, End-Of-The-Road Meal/party, medals for kids 15 and under/seniors 65 and older.
How often do we move?
On Big Brag, we move every day except our layover day in the middle. We will carry your bags from location-to-location so that you don't need to worry about hauling any gear on your bike.
Do I need a road bike?
Absolutely not! While a road bike certainly makes things a little easier, people have completed ride on every type of bike you could think of, from ebikes, mountain bikes, to recumbents, tandems, and unicycles... even roller blades!
What if I don't know anyone?
The best thing about BRAG is the community of riders. Many come alone and leave with riding buddies for life. You will never ride alone on BRAG. There will always be someone riding at or near your pace. If you are the least bit outgoing, you will meet lots of new friends on BRAG - on the road, at the rest stops and in the shower line, listening to bands, etc.
If I'm not in the best shape, can I participate?
The Bicycle Ride Across Georgia is a ride, not a race. However, good training is important to ensuring you have an enjoyable experience. Plan on riding several hundred training miles as you get ready for the week. The route will always present physical challenges, so the more you put into training the more you will get out of the ride. The daily mileage ranges from 50 to 70 miles per day. Terrain can vary from flat to steep hills. A major cause of injuries is poor conditioning. There are also SAG wagons that can assist if you have serious trouble.
When do I arrive?
You may arrive to Big BRAG as early as 2:00pm on the listed start day (typically Saturday). Riding begins the following day (typically Sunday).
I have more questions...
Drop us a line on our contact form or ask the BRAG community on Facebook .
Savannah Bike Tours: Gliding Under Spanish Moss
My favorite way to explore this historical city is by taking a Savannah bike tour. In about two hours of riding, you can see highlights of the city’s colonial history and major landmarks. With so much to explore—including an historical riverfront, 22 charming squares and many beautiful sights to see—Savannah bike tours are an ideal way to grounded on a first visit to the city.
Savannah is perfect for biking, with generally flat terrain, many dedicated bike lanes and designation from the League of American Bicyclists as a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community.
Key takeaways:
- A Savannah bike tour perfect for anyone visiting the city for the first time, to get acquainted with the large historical district.
- With relatively easy terrain, Savannah offers bike routes for those of all ages and abilities.
- Tour companies have experienced and knowledgeable guides, well-maintained bikes and helmets, and various tour options.
Why is Savannah perfect for bike tours?
Savannah, Georgia is the perfect city for a bike tour for several reasons:
- Compact size: Savannah has a compact and easily walk able Historic District, which makes it ideal for exploring on a bike. The city is small enough to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time and the streets are relatively flat, making it easy for riders of all skill levels.
- Rich history and culture: Savannah is rich in history, with a diverse blend of colonial, antebellum, and Victorian architecture. It is also home to many historic landmarks, squares, and cultural institutions that tell the story of the city’s past.
- Scenic routes: Savannah is surrounded by lush greenery and has a number of scenic routes that take riders through beautiful parks, along the riverfront, and past historic homes and plantations.
- Delicious cuisine: Savannah is known for its delicious cuisine, including classic Southern dishes, fresh seafood, and craft cocktails. A bike tour allows you to scout some of the city’s best bites and drinks to enjoy after you get some exercise.
- Friendly and welcoming community: Savannah is known for its friendly and welcoming community, making it an enjoyable place to explore on a bike.
Overall, Savannah’s compact size, rich history and culture, scenic routes, delicious cuisine, and friendly community make it the perfect city for a bike tour.
Planning and preparation
Before visiting, it is best to book in advance and plan accordingly. On warmer days, you will want to ride early in the morning before the heat really sets in. The tour operators will usually provide a bottle of water, but I brought my own as well—conveniently stashed in the bicycle basket on the handlebars. You should wear comfortable, loose clothing and sunscreen is highly recommended. The cruiser style bikes are easy to operate and the route is fairly flat, especially in the historical squares. Arrive early, so that you can adjust the seat and get accustomed to your bike.
Savannah Bike Tour highlights
My tour started with a brief safety briefing and then we set out for the riverfront. Our guide pointed out the original cobblestone streets and the antique doors on the dock warehouses that were over two hundred years old. We meandered down by the river and tourist areas of the waterfront, with fabulous views of the large ships arrive and departing Savannah’s port.
Historic District
Next, we rode slightly uphill to the historical square district of Savannah. Cruising under the live oaks, we learned about the city’s rich history and architecture as we rode through the picturesque streets. We stopped at some of the more notable squares, including Chippewa Square, where the famous scene from Forrest Gump was filmed, and Johnson Square, the city’s oldest square.
Our next stop was at Mercer Williams House, which was built in the late 1800s and is known for its intricate architecture and interesting history, including its association with the book and movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Another stop was at Green-Meldrim house, which served as General Sherman’s headquarters in the city. The bells of the chapel next door where he attended services rang out on the hour, just as our tour guide explained that Savannah was saved from Sherman’s wrath as a Christmas gift to President Lincoln.
Forsyth Park
We pedaled over to 30 acre Forsyth Park, which we learned was originally a military training field. We took a break at the famous fountain here and then meandered among along the paths. Rounding out the park, our guide pointed out the Garden of Fragrance, which houses a collection of scented plants, walled off in its own space. With a final brief stop on the outskirts of the park, our tour concluded at the iconic Candler Oak tree, which is estimated to have survived from the 1700’s.
Key points of interest also included:
- Johnson Square: This is the oldest square in Savannah and is known for its impressive monuments and beautiful landscaping. It is a great place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of the city.
- Savannah Cotton Exchange: This building was once a hub of the city’s bustling cotton trade and is known for its beautiful architecture and historical significance.
- The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist: This beautiful cathedral is known for its impressive architecture and rich history. It is a popular spot for visitors to see and learn about the city’s religious heritage.
- The Telfair Museums: The Telfair Museums are home to an impressive collection of art and artifacts that showcase the city’s rich cultural heritage. They are a must-see for art lovers visiting Savannah.
- The Savannah Theatre: This historic theater is known for its beautiful architecture and rich history. It is a popular spot for visitors to see a show or take a tour.
- The Old Savannah City Hall: This historic building is known for its impressive architecture and interesting history. It is a popular spot for visitors to learn about the city’s government and politics.
- The Savannah College of Art and Design: This College not only provides education, but is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the city’s rich history. It owns and restores many of the city’s historical buildings.
Savannah Bike Tour Options
If you are already familiar with the city, you can choose to rent a bike and set out for yourself. Sekka Bicycles on Broughton Street offers rentals if you did not bring your own bike. I booked my tour with Savannah Bike Tours on Broughton Street, which was an easy walk from my hotel near the historic district. For the party crowd, peddlers can avail themselves to Savannah’s pub scene via pedal powered bikes. Here here are our favorite options for Savannah bike tours:
- Stories of the South Tour explores the iconic squares and landmarks of Savannah’s Historic District while learning about its rich history and architecture.
- Boos Cruise Tour is a haunted journey through some of Savannah’s most infamous cemeteries and hear the spooky stories that haunt the city.
- Guided bike and e-bike tours to learn about the city’s history, architecture, and culture while exploring the streets and squares of Savannah’s Historic District.
- Guided ghost tours that visit Savannah’s notable haunts and cemeteries.
- They also offer private tours if you would like to focus on a particular route and sights through the city.
- Two hour guided bike or e-bike tours of the historical district.
- Bachelorette packages for the bride to be, with a specially decorated bike for the soon to be wed bride.
There is no better way to see Savannah than to glide under the Spanish moss on a bike. In a fairly short time, you can cover much of the city’s history, culture and architecture. The only drawback for me was the relatively quick pace of my tour, which left little time for extensive photography along the route. Next time, I’ll rent a bike and make my own path.

Latin america, exploring georgia by bicycle.
The remote and scenic Caucasus mountains set the stage for Georgia, a slice of sumptuous, natural beauty. Though squarely within Eurasia, its remote and isolated geography helped to craft its unique culture that lives on today in its proud and fiercely independent people.
A Backdrop for Adventure
The legendary Caucasus mountains are more than just beautiful to look at. The velvety green range is the perfect playground for outdoor adventurers of all kinds. Wind your way around peaks on black rock trails, hewn into the sides of mountains. Ford rushing streams on horseback. From your valley campsite, ascend to the nearest ridge on foot and catch your breath at the 360 degree view.
Relics of a Unique History
As rugged and wild as the scenery around it, relics of Georgia’s ancient history dot the canvas of the deep Caucasus mountains. Hidden away in shadowy valleys, stone-made watchtowers and monasteries. Descend from the alpine meadows and mountain trails into rural countryside to sample some of the oldest recipes of wine in the world.
Georgia is a spectacular place to visit and we got to see a lot of it. The horsemen and cook were amazing. Scenery stunning.

I went to Georgia as my first solo travel and to celebrate my birthday too. I am overly satisfied with the overall tour, I am in awe of the beauty of the country and the hospitality of the locals. At first I was worried to be on my own but I am very grateful to Tamo who is my tour guide and George who drove us to amazing places in Georgia because of them I never felt anxious to be on my own. They have been so great that it made my birthday celebration so memorable (they suprised me with a birthday cake ????). It made me feel as if I was just with my friends. Overall, I highly recommend this tour for amazing experience about the Georgian culture ????

Taste Of Georgia
“Taste of Georgia” was absolutely superb. Everything about the tour exceeded our expectations, most of all the brilliance of our guide, Tatia, and our driver, Zura. Tatia was extraordinarily thoughtful, kind, solicitous, well-organized, and knowledgeable. She provided a wealth of fascinating and detailed information about the history, customs, art, architecture, and cuisine of all the sites we visited, and timed her discussions in a way that never overwhelmed us but rather prepared us–and made us excited to see and enjoy each of the sites. She answered our many questions fully, often returning to topics we were especially interested in after doing a bit more research on them. She quickly developed a keen understanding of our special interests, and made sure our time at various sites–churches, forts, parks, wineries, restaurants–was tailored to maximize our pursuit of these interests. For the few days we were in Tbilisi following the tour, we followed Tatia’s recommendations about restaurants and other things, and found them all to be excellent. The car we used for the entire trip was extremely comfortable and clean, as were the hotels we stayed at. Tatia and Zura made sure all our transfers were easy and efficient: they were as flexible about schedule as we needed, and always punctual and reliable. Thank you, TourRadar and Tatia, for giving us the trip of a lifetime in this splendid country!

10 Days Combined Mountains and Sea!
I strongly and highly recommended Glad Travel Georgia to those who want to travel to beautiful Georgia. Glad Travel Georgia tour price is very competitive but its quality is incomparably superb. Me and my friend traveled with the tour guide Mr.Levan days going to a number of tourist sites with fun and happiness. I have to admit that this country is like heaven on the earth, filling with greenery forest especially way to Bakuriani and Bakuriani itself, hills and real natural beauty.we were very happy and enjoyed sightseeing and new adventure throughout ten days trip. my friend and i told to ourselves that we will visit this lovely country again in the near future especially in summer time because we've been experienced already the winter time with a very beautiful snowfall in Gudauri. Again, i wish to express my great thanks to Glad Travel Georgia Tour with Mr.Levan for this wonderful trip,He never pushed us to hurry back to the car to go to next destination. He gave us the pleasure time and moved when we are ready in fact Mr.Levan was really supportive and enhance throughout our trip. This trip will be in my heart and memory forever as one of the most memorable trip happened in my life.
3-Day Tusheti Tour: Explore The Unspoiled Wilderness

Georgia Adventure
I think this trip was very expensive for what we got. I traveled independently in Georgia and found it cheap and easy to eat great food, stay in really good accommodation and find specialised guides and transportation. The hotel we stayed in in Mestia cost AUD$35 for a single occupancy with breakfast and dinner. Our cost per day was AUD $200 (without a single supplement). That’s one hell of a lot for a guide and transportation in a country like Georgia. The breakfasts in two of the hotels were atrocious. Given Intrepid used a local company I think there was just far too much cash going to people not contributing anything. I also found Intrepid hopelessly unresponsive to my email enquires in the days leading up to the trip. I’d heard that Intrepid are a great company. Certainly wasn’t my experience and I doubt that I would risk using them again. Certainly won’t be recommending my friends do this. I’ll be telling them to book directly with operators in Georgia.

6-Day Trekking Group Tour from Tusheti to Khevsureti via Atsunta Pass
This was our second trek with Trek Georgia and as per our first trek it was fantastic. Good organisation, communication and transport. Nutsa our guide was amazing. The accommodation and food were great all along the trek and the pace and distances covered each day were very achievable. Tusheti is a special place and we really enjoyed our time hiking there. Highly recommend.
Kazbegi Hiking - 3 Day Group Tour
Great tour with beautiful hikes. Our tour guide, Misha, was excellent and the driver, Gocha (not sure about spelling), was great. Accommodation at Ketino's House was very comfortable and her food was to die for. Loved it!

What people love about active tours in georgia.
The whole tour was great and enjoyable. I originally thought that it would be a group tour but ended up as a private tour. I was able to visit and see different places at my own pace. I didn’t have to think of others, nor rush visiting any places we've been to. Levan, my guide, was great and vey kind. He was chill the whole time. There was no pressure on going somewhere or doing activities on the places we visited. He usually brief me of the things that we’ll be doing for the day and asked me if there’s anything I want or don’t want to visit. He knows how to read the room. He chitchat and joke around when I’m up for it and leave me alone when I’m not in the mood to talk. Most of all, he let me sleep. For someone who’s been sleep deprived, the last thing I need is a super chatty guide. I also learned a lot of things from him about Georgian culture and history. Thank you Glad Travel! And of course, thanks you Levan.
Heard so many things about Georgia and got the recommendation for this trip from my friend, I can't imagine any better version of my vacation there, love each moment of it. Many thanks for all of your work
