Regent Seven Seas Cruises will sail what may well be the most expensive commercial cruise ever in 2027: an around-the-world trip with prices ranging from just under $100,000 to almost $1 million per person.

Sound over the top? Yes, for most travelers. But the luxury line expects the cruise will break company sales records, just as many of its past world cruises have, often selling out the day bookings opened.

“People are more eager than ever to embark on once-in-a-lifetime luxury travel experiences,” said Andrea DeMarco, president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “In fact, over the past few years, we’ve received continued interest and increasing demand for our world cruises as discerning travelers want to venture further and for longer durations. Now more than ever, people do not want to wait for opportunities to pass them by.”

Indeed, weeks- and even months-long world cruises have become a popular travel style in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the luxury and upscale cruise markets.

To meet the growing demand, Regent’s 2027 world cruise will be the first aboard one of the company’s largest and newest explorer class ships, the 746-passenger Seven Seas Splendor , which launched in 2020. The ship has 373 suites across 15 categories, ranging from the 307-square-foot Veranda Suite to its lavish, one-of-a-kind 4,443-square-foot Regent Suite.

Perched on the 14th deck, the Regent Suite has unobstructed 270-degree views over the ship’s bow from a 1,300-square-foot wraparound veranda. A glass-enclosed solarium offers a view that mirrors that of the captain’s from the bridge. The over-the-top accommodation also has its own spa retreat complete with a personal sauna, steam room, and Jacuzzi, as well as original Picasso artworks adorning the walls, a custom Steinway Grand Maroque Piano by Dakota Jackson, and a handcrafted Hästens Vividus mattress, which retails for more than $200,000, topped with the finest bed linens and pillow styles.

The bed in the Regent Suite of the Seven Seas Splendor features a handcrafted Hästens Vividus mattress, which retails for more than $200,000.

Regent Suite guests will also have a dedicated butler, a full bar, and a personal car and driver in every port.

Fares for the 140-night voyage, which departs on January 11, 2027, start at $91,499 per guest for a Veranda Suite and go up to $839,999 per guest for the opulent Regent Suite. Travelers who prefer a slightly shorter journey can sail a 126-night Miami-to-Rome voyage, with fares ranging from $84,999 per guest up to $755,999 per guest.

So, what exactly does one get for those prices?

Fares for the World of Splendor sailing include first-class round-trip flights, door-to-door luggage service, 486 shore excursions, specialty dining, wine and spirits, unlimited Wi-Fi, and unlimited laundry and dry cleaning.

Where will the ship go?

For this 140-day world cruise, the Seven Seas Splendor will sail from Miami to New York, visiting 71 ports of call (including 14 overnight stays) in the Caribbean, South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Guests will travel 35,668 nautical miles across 3 oceans, exploring 40 countries on 6 continents.

Over more than four months, passengers will have the opportunity to celebrate Carnival in Panama City, visit a Sri Lankan street festival in Colombo, and step back in time during an exclusive Roaring ’20s–themed event in Málaga, Spain, that will feature haute couture and vintage automobile displays. The itinerary includes visits to 73 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, among them Kakadu National Park in Australia, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Elephanta Caves in India, and Palmeral of Elche near Alicante, Spain.

An outdoor dining area on the 'Seven Seas Splendor' featuring multiple tables and chairs with blue umbrellas and views of the sea

There are nine dining venues on board the Seven Seas Splendor , including alfresco eating areas, in addition to wellness options, cooking classes, and entertainment.

What’s there to do on board?

The ship has a full spa and wellness center with included classes and activities led by fitness and mindful living experts. There’s a culinary arts kitchen for hands-on cooking lessons, evening entertainment, and nine dining venues, ranging from Compass Rose, offering a customized menu each night of the cruise, to Pan-Asian outpost Pacific Rim and the elevated steakhouse Prime 7. There’s also a French bistro called Chartreuse, and Sette Mari at La Veranda serves Italian fare with stunning ocean views.

Under parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Regent Seven Seas is part of the company’s larger Sail and Sustain program , which invests in ways to reduce emissions and the environmental impact of the fleet through investments in new and evolving green technologies. It also encompasses Regent’s Eco-Connect Tours , on which passengers can engage with local communities that are promoting sustainable tourism initiatives like biodynamic and organic wine production in Bordeaux, France, and visiting a sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica.

Regent’s 2027 World Cruise is currently open for bookings either by calling (844) 4-REGENT or by visiting the Regent website .

This Luxurious 132-night World Cruise Costs $73,000 a Ticket — and It Sold Out Within 3 Hours

"This outstanding response has surpassed all expectations and is without a doubt our strongest world cruise launch day ever," Regent Seven Seas Cruises' CEO said.

regent seven seas world cruise cost

A cruise with fares starting at just over $73,000 per person completely sold out in less than three hours last week, proving that passengers are desperate to get back to the high seas after the COVID-19 pandemic halted cruising.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises' 2024 World Cruise voyage sold out at around 11 a.m. ET on July 14, after having been made available only at 8:30 a.m. that day, according to a press release .

"With a waitlist longer than we have ever experienced, we knew that the 2024 World Cruise was going to be popular, but this outstanding response has surpassed all expectations and is without a doubt our strongest world cruise launch day ever," Jason Montague, president and chief executive officer of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, said in a statement.

The World Cruise will welcome passengers aboard for 132 nights — or nearly five months — as they travel around the globe, trekking more than 34,500 nautical miles. The cruise will stop at 66 ports of call across 31 countries and four continents, including Central America, Hawaii, the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.

Surprisingly, it wasn't just Regent Seven Seas Cruises alums who gobbled up the tickets, but those who were new to cruising.

"Remarkably, we've found that interest hasn't just come from our past guests, and we have seen a strong increase in first-time travelers with Regent, many of whom were keen to book the higher end of our suites," Montague said.

Cruise prices went up to $199,999 per guest for a master suite aboard the ship.

All tickets include free first-class air travel, a pre-cruise gala event, and hotel in Miami, exclusive shoreside experiences, door-to-door luggage service, all visas, laundry aboard the ship, and more.

Passengers aboard the World Cruise will be able to participate in 442 free shore excursions, with access to 61 different UNESCO World Heritage sites, the most that any Regents Seven Seas Cruise has ever included. Passengers will also be aboard for crossings of both the Panama and Suez canals.

This is the third year in a row that spots aboard the World Cruise have quickly sold out. In September, spots for the 2023 World Cruise sold out within a matter of a few hours .

regent seven seas world cruise cost

On a new Regent Seven Seas Cruises itinerary, guests can travel to six continents in serious style.

The luxury cruise line’s 2027 World Cruise – World of Splendor will sail for 140 nights, and feature some of its most lavish accommodations.

“We have seen continued interest and demand to venture further afield and for longer durations and so we are thrilled to announce that our 2027 World Cruise will take place on board Seven Seas Splendor, offering more luxury travelers the opportunity to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Regent President Andrea DeMarco said in a news release Wednesday.

Seven Seas Splendor debuted in 2020. The sailing marks the first time the ship's 4,443-square-foot Regent Suite (also on the line’s other Explorer-Class vessels) will be available on a world cruise, giving passengers a spacious home away from home as they visit 40 countries – though the cruise features a wide range of fares.

When is Regent Seven Seas’ 2027 world cruise?

The 746-guest ship will depart from Miami on Jan. 11, 2027, from Miami, Florida, and the cruise will end in New York. Travelers can also book a shorter 126-night option ending in Civitavecchia, Italy.

Where will the cruise visit?

Guests will visit 71 ports in the Caribbean; the Pacific Islands; Australia; New Zealand; Asia; Africa and Europe. Those include 14 overnight stays in destinations including Panama City, Panama; Los Angeles; Sydney, Australia; Singapore; Malé in the Maldives and Mumbai, India.

The fare also includes 486 shore excursions and shoreside experiences. Guests can sample cuisine and watch dancing that showcases local history at a street festival in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for example, or attend a 1920s-themed event in Málaga, Spain featuring a haute couture display, classic cars and more.

What is a world cruise?: It's not a 'shoot-from-the-hip decision'

How much does the cruise cost?

Accommodations on the all-suite ship start at $91,499 per person for a 307-square-foot Veranda Suite. The largest category, the Regent Suite – which has a 1,300-square-foot wraparound veranda; an in-room spa area with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room; a personal car and driver during each stop and more – runs $839,999 per guest.

In addition to many shore excursions, the fares include round-trip, intercontinental flights in business class from the U.S. and Canada; food; drinks including wine and spirits; Wi-Fi; valet laundry and more. Guests can indicate their interest by pre-registering on Regent’s website before the cruise opens for bookings on April 10.

$73,499-Per-Guest World Cruise Sells Out In Less Than 3 Hours

Home away from home: Passengers on the Seven Seas Mariner will sail around the world in a "deluxe veranda suite" — a voyage that will last more than four months.

Now, that's a long — and expensive — trip.

A 132-night "world cruise" sold out in under three hours, despite pandemic worries that have hobbled the cruise industry and steep prices that start at $73,499 per guest — and range up to $199,999 per person for a master suite.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises released the fares for sale at 8:30 a.m. ET Thursday. By 11 a.m., all the spots had been snapped up by people eager to spend more than four months on a cruise ship. The strong interest may be a positive sign for the cruise industry as it tries to rebound from the pandemic.

The voyage, which will span 34,500 nautical miles, includes 66 ports of call, as the Seven Seas Mariner will visit 31 countries and four continents. Passengers will also see 61 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The epic round-trip cruise will depart from Miami in January 2024. The company also has round-the-world cruises slated for 2022 and 2023, but it says the tickets for its 2024 trip sold out faster than for any other year.

High-end accommodations brought some of the most intense interest, the company says. That trend aligns with the new economic reality imposed by the pandemic, in which well-off customers have snapped up big-ticket products and services, and even homes , even as millions of other Americans struggle to pay for housing and essentials.

"Remarkably, we've found that interest hasn't just come from our past guests, and we have seen a strong increase in first-time travelers," said Jason Montague, Regent Seven Seas Cruises' president and CEO.

Many of those new customers, he adds, "were keen to book the higher end of our suites."

Living quarters aboard the Seven Seas Mariner range from the deluxe veranda suite, whose bed and adjacent sitting area resembles what you might find in a nice boutique hotel, to the master suite, which add a full dining table and living rooms with polished floors and armchairs.

The rapid sales are seen as another confirmation of customers' desire for more cruises, particularly long ones. Last week, a 40-night winter Caribbean voyage on Carnival Cruise Lines' P&O Cruises sold out in six hours .

Cruise lines are still struggling to resume normal operations after being plunged into a freefall by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention placed a "no sail" order on cruise ships last year, and several trips were either ruined by outbreaks or linked to the spread of cases among returning passengers. The sector's main players, such as Carnival and Royal Caribbean Group, have been forced to postpone or cancel voyages from U.S. ports.

A glimmer of hope emerged in late June when Royal Caribbean's Celebrity Edge became the first cruise ship to sail from a U.S. port in more than a year. Carnival had initially said it would not resume sailing from the U.S. until August. But after determining that conditions were safe enough to resume operations, the Carnival Vista left Galveston, Texas , for a weeklong trip to Mexico and Belize.

The cost of travel rose more than 13% from June 2020 to June 2021, according to the U.S. Travel Association's most recent travel price index . The figures also show a 3% rise in travel prices from June 2019 to June 2021.

Matador Original Series

This World Cruise to 140 Countries Will Set You Back as Much as $839,999

C ruises can be very cheap. Without much effort, just about anyone can snag a very affordable seven-night sailing in the Caribbean, Alaska, or even the Mediterranean. World cruises, however, are entirely different. Because they last between three and nine months, they tend to cost a bundle. That said, no world cruise is more expensive than Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ newly announced 2027 World of Splendor voyage .

The world cruise, which will depart on January 11, 2027, from Miami, Florida, for a 140-night voyage around the world on board the Seven Seas Splendor, is the most expensive to date. Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ press release earlier this month announced that the fares for this all-inclusive sailing will start “from $91,499 per guest for a luxurious Veranda Suite up to $839,999 per guest for the opulent Regent Suite,” i.e. from $650 to $6000 per guest per night. But because cruises are based on double occupancy, you can multiply those numbers by two.

For such immense sums of money, you’d expect Regent Seven Seas Cruises to create a once-in-a-lifetime trip and, from what the cruise line’s website says, nobody should be disappointed. The Seven Seas Splendor will depart from Miami, visit 71 ports in 40 countries on six continents, and will end in New York City nearly five months later. During the voyage, guests will have the opportunity to choose from 480 shore excursions and visit 73 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The Seven Seas Splendor, delivered to Regent Seven Seas Cruises in 2020, is a small ship, accommodating a maximum of 746 guests in 373 suites and 548 crew members (a ratio of one crew member to 1.4 guests). The accommodations on board the ship are all luxurious, even the cheapest ones, but the Regent Suite takes the cake. Described by the cruise line as “the most exclusive address residence at sea”, the Regent Suite offers 4,443 square feet of space, including a 1,300 square-foot wraparound veranda and a glass-enclosed solarium, a sauna, a steam room, and a jacuzzi. The suite also has a Steinway grand piano, artworks by Picasso, and a $200,000 bed set-up. Is it worth $1.7 million for two guests for the duration of the 2027 world cruise? Take a virtual tour of the place and make your own mind. Or better even, give it a try — if you can afford it.

How Much Does a Regent Cruise Cost?

By Michael Ferguson

Regent Seven Seas Cruises is a luxury cruise line that offers unparalleled comfort, exceptional service, and exquisite cuisine. If you’re planning a cruise vacation with Regent, you may be wondering how much it will cost. In this article, we’ll explore the various factors that impact the cost of a Regent cruise.

Factors That Affect Regent Cruise Costs

There are several factors that can influence the cost of your Regent Seven Seas Cruise. The following elements are some of the most significant:

Cruise Itinerary

The itinerary you choose can have a significant impact on the cost of your Regent Seven Seas Cruise. Some destinations are more expensive than others due to higher port fees or longer travel distances.

The type of cabin you select is another significant factor that affects the cost of your Regent cruise. Cabins range from standard suites to luxurious penthouses with private balconies and personal butlers.

Time of Year

The time of year when you book your cruise can also affect its overall cost. Peak season travel typically costs more, while off-season trips may offer lower prices.

Length of Cruise

The length of your Regent Seven Seas Cruise is another essential factor in determining its overall cost. Longer cruises often come with higher price tags, as they include more amenities and features.

  • Standard Suite: These cabins typically start around $8,000 for a seven-night Caribbean cruise.
  • Premium Suite: These cabins offer more luxurious amenities and services and typically start around $12,000 for a seven-night Caribbean cruise.
  • Penthouse Suite: These cabins represent the ultimate in luxury and comfort and typically start around $20,000 for a seven-night Caribbean cruise.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises: All-Inclusive Value

It’s important to note that Regent Seven Seas Cruises is an all-inclusive cruise line. This means that your cruise fare includes a variety of amenities and services that would typically come at an additional cost on other lines. Some of the things included in your Regent Seven Seas Cruise fare include:

  • All meals and snacks: Enjoy gourmet cuisine and delicious snacks throughout the day at no additional cost.
  • Beverages: All non-alcoholic beverages, as well as select wines and spirits, are included in your cruise fare.

Tickets for a cruise ship sailing around the world starting at nearly $90,000 just sold out in 'record time' — see what 5 months at sea will be like

  • Regent Seven Seas Cruises announced its 2025 150-night world cruise, its longest itinerary yet, in May.
  • The five-month cruise was fully reserved in "record time" for the fourth year in a row.
  • The 2025 cruise aboard the Seven Seas Mariner starts at $87,000 for the most basic suite.

If you have an insatiable desire to sail around the world, at least $90,000, and five months to burn, you're not alone.

regent seven seas world cruise cost

In late May, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' luxury cruise brand Regent Seven Seas Cruises announced its longest itinerary to date: a 150-night around-the-world cruise sailing in early 2025.

But before the cruise line could open bookings for the itinerary on June 15, the sailing was already fully reserved "in record time," Regent Seven Seas said in a press release.

And there's now a waitlist for the cruise that's still three years out.

regent seven seas world cruise cost

"We have received unprecedented interest in this sailing and this phenomenal booking record shows once again that people, just like the world itself, are now open to travel and are not going to wait around and let opportunities pass them by," Jason Montague, president and CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, said in the press release.

Months-long around-the-world cruises have remained popular with travelers since the resumption of sailing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regent Seven Seas may have a smaller fleet compared to big brands like Celebrity Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line, but the smaller luxury cruise line has established itself as a strong player in the world cruise segment.

And for the past four years, these world cruises have sold out in record time, Regent Seven Seas says.

Last year, Regent Seven Seas' 132-night 2024 world cruise sold out in less than three hours.

But unlike Regent Seven Seas' previous itineraries, the newly announced 150-night global cruise will be the company's longest itinerary, rivaling Miami-based cruise line Azamara's 155-night 2024 world cruise.

The itinerary includes stops to World Heritage destinations like Rapa Nui National Park in Chile, the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto in Japan, and Cascade Head in Oregon.

Picasso art, grand pianos and personal butlers – welcome to the future of luxury cruises from Regent Seven Seas .

The company has unveiled its latest voyage World of Splendor that will take guests to 71 ports across six continents during a 140-day trip. And its Regent Suite, described as the most “exclusive residential address at sea”, is the pinnacle of its decadent rooms.

Starting in Miami in January 2027, it will conclude in New York in June. The round-the-world trip aboard the Seven Seas Splendor will visit Honolulu, Bora Bora, Singapore and Casablanca, with regional stops in Dubai, Abu Dhabi , Muscat, Doha and Jeddah. Travellers will also have the opportunity to explore 73 Unesco World Heritage Sites.

Prices start at $89,799 per person for a Veranda Suite H and go up to $837,299 per person for the Regent Suite. With prices based on double occupancy, it means couples will pay $1.7 million.

The Regent Suite is on the 14th floor and spans 412 square metres. It features a 120-square-metre wraparound veranda and a glass-enclosed solarium, complete with a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

Enhancing its opulence, the opulent suite also has artworks by Picasso and a grand piano. Package perks include complimentary first-class domestic or business-class international flights, personal car and guide services at each destination, in-suite spa services and an on-call butler.

“We have seen continued interest and demand to venture further afield and for longer durations and so we are thrilled to announce that our 2027 World Cruise will take place on board Seven Seas Splendor, offering more luxury travellers the opportunity to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Andrea DeMarco, president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Before the journey, travellers will get a one-night pre-cruise stay at a luxury hotel in Miami and can attend a pre-cruise gala. In addition to the 486 free shore excursions, a further three shore-side events will take place in Panama City; Colombo, Sri Lanka; and Malaga, Spain.

Launched in 2020, Seven Seas Splendor is known for its luxury and hosts an art collection valued at $5 million, including works by Joan Miro and Picasso. Every suite also comes with a private balcony. Reservations open on April 10, but pre-registration is already under way.

In 2021, Regent Seven Seas announced a cruise that set to sail around 31 countries in four months, departing from Miami in January 2024. All-inclusive, tickets started at $73,499 and reached $199,999 per head for a master suite.

The cruise sold out in three hours .

WORLD CRUISE GALA EXCLUSIVE

WORLD CRUISE GALA EXCLUSIVE

Jane krakowski & tituss burgess, world cruise gala frequently asked questions, when and where will the world cruise gala be held.

The Beyond the Horizon 2023 World Cruise Gala will be held on the evening of embarkation, January 7, 2023 from 6pm-10:45pm. We are welcoming back the tradition of celebrating our Gala onboard Seven Seas Mariner . The evening will consist of a dinner featuring the same curated gala menu in Compass Rose, Chartreuse and Prime 7. The dinner will be followed by special entertainment featuring celebrity appearances in the Constellation Theater at 9:30pm.

Why is the gala occurring onboard rather than shoreside?

After receiving feedback from many of our past world cruise guests, we decided to bring back the tradition of holding the gala onboard.

Will there still be a dinner for guests staying at the InterContinental Miami on January 6th in lieu of the gala?

There will not be a dinner event on January 6th at the InterContinental, but we are providing a $150 voucher per room which can be used for dining at the hotel. As always, a complimentary breakfast will be available the morning of January 7th. Details on the breakfast will be provided upon check-in.

Does the $150 hotel voucher relate only to those staying at the InterContinental Miami, but not available if we choose to stay at a different hotel?

Correct, the credit is only available to guests who were staying at the InterContinental and planning to attend the gala.

Will the $150 voucher cover the full room rate? (and also it says the voucher needs to be picked up upon arrival (is that the arrival to the hotel?)

The voucher is in place of the dinner that would have been hosted by Regent at the hotel on the evening of January 6th. The voucher will be provided at check in at the InterContinental Miami.

Is the onboard gala in the Constellation Theatre available to everyone boarding in Miami?

The gala is available to all world cruise guests. Segment guests will embark on January 8, 2023 allowing for an exclusive onboard experience for our world cruise guests.

Will the jacket and polo shirt be given out at the Gala dinner or be placed in our suite? Can we see what they look like?

The World Cruise gifts will be provided on different evenings throughout the voyage. We are not providing images of the gifts as this will be a surprise and delight for our guests.

Will transfers still be provided to guests who are not staying at the InterContinental Miami?

Please contact Regent Seven Seas Cruises with questions regarding your transfer to Seven Seas Mariner .

What is the dress code for the gala?

The dress code for the gala event is cocktail attire, but guests have the option to dress formal (suits for men, long gowns for women) if they choose.

Is the hotel stay at the Intercontinental already paid for by Regent?

The one-night pre-cruise hotel stay at InterContinental in Miami was an inclusion of booking the 2023 World Cruise and there is no additional cost to guests who booked this inclusion.

How will gala dinner reservations be handled?

Details on the gala dinner are forthcoming, but reservations will be managed by Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and guests will be assigned a dining venue and table.

Will check in be at the InterContinental or the pier?

Check in will be at Terminal J in Miami.

First look: The new, $11,000-a-night cruise ship suite that's bigger than a house

Gene Sloan

For the record, I'm the kind of guy who rarely spends over $10,000 a night for a cabin on a cruise ship. And by rarely, I mean never.

Shave a couple zeros off that number, and you're getting closer to my idea of a reasonable per-night charge.

For more TPG news delivered each morning to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter .

Apparently, not everyone is like me. The new Regent Suite on luxury line Regent Seven Seas Cruises' just-unveiled Seven Seas Splendor, which Regent executives showed off to U.S. media for the first time on Sunday, already is booked solid through November at $11,000 a night for two.

Yes, you read that right: $11,000 a night.

regent seven seas world cruise cost

Given that many Seven Seas Splendor sailings run 10 to 16 nights, we're talking about a total spend here of $110,000 to $176,000 in many cases.

What do you get for that kind of money? For starters, a suite that is very, very big.

regent seven seas world cruise cost

The sprawling complex measures 4,443 square feet -- nearly twice the size of the average American home.

For those of you keeping track, that makes the suite more than three times the size of the much-ballyhooed, two-deck-high Ultimate Family Suite that Royal Caribbean recently put atop Symphony of the Seas , the world's biggest cruise ship. It's also way bigger than the giant Sky Suites that Princess Cruises just unveiled on its new Sky Princess .

As I saw during Sunday's preview, the Regent Suite features two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room, a separate dining area and what is perhaps the most spectacular balcony at sea.

"It's unique," Regent president and CEO Jason Montague said of the suite when I asked him where he thinks it falls among the list of top suites at sea. "There's nothing like it, not just in the cruise industry but the overall [travel] industry."

Related: The best credit cards for booking cruises

That's a big boast. But, having seen quite a few super-suites in my 20-plus years of travel writing, I can say that Montague may have a point.

As Montague noted, there aren't any super suites on land where you can get a sweeping view of a different iconic destination -- Monaco, Portofino, Venice -- every few days.

"Look at that view behind you," Montague said, pointing to floor-to-ceiling windows framing a vast expanse of island-dotted water (the suite unveiling was taking place during a short sneak-peek sailing for travel agents from Miami to the Bahamas ). "You're going to wake up [to a view of] a different port almost every day."

Located at the very top of the ship, the Regent Suite really does have one of the best views at sea. Even the captain of the vessel, three decks below on the bridge , doesn't get quite the line of sight that a Regent Suite guest can get through its seemingly endless glass walls.

The bridge also doesn't have such luxury touches as a Steinway grand piano, designer furniture and an art collection worth thousands of dollars.

Cruise suite connoisseurs will tell you the footprint of the Regent Suite is similar to the footprint of a suite of the same name on Regent's 3-year-old Seven Seas Explorer. Until now, that suite has widely been considered the be-all and end-all of suites at sea. But some of the new Regent Suite's features are even more extravagant.

Among the craziest things that I saw: A bed with a handmade mattress that Regent executives claim cost more than $200,000. I didn't see the receipt, so I can't confirm it really was that pricey. But, given the way they described its making, I'm taking their word for it.

The hand-made mattress in the Regent Suite on Seven Seas Splendor cost more than $250,000. (Photo courtesy of Regent Seven Seas Splendor)

Regent says the bed was handcrafted by four artisans at the renowned Hästens workshop in Köping, Sweden. It's made with horsetail hair, layered in with flax, and cotton and wool batting. The frame, I was told, was made of pinewood. That last part seems a little Plebeian to me, given the cost of the bed. No rare black walnut or 1,000-year-old redwood?

Pine frame or not, the bed is quite comfortable. I know this because, when nobody else was looking, I sneaked a dive right on top of it.

Before you chastise me, know that I did fluff the comforter back up and straightened out the top sheet.

The super-pricey bed is within the Regent Suite's master bedroom area, which is the centerpiece of the complex. In addition to a main bedroom and adjacent lounge space, there's a massive master bathroom that doubles as a personal spa , complete with its own sauna and steam room. It's big enough that it also can be used as a personal spa treatment room.

To that end, the Regent Suite -- get this -- comes with its very own spa therapist on call. Unlimited spa treatments are included in the cost of the suite.

Need we even mention that the suite comes with its own private butler?

The master bath also has a walk-in shower so big that we suspect a couple of the other writers at Sunday's event got lost inside and are still there. Notably, the shower has a floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooking the ocean. You can also enjoy the view from two heated relaxation loungers.

Still, the best view of the ocean from the Regent Suite is from its forward-facing, glass-enclosed solarium (which comes with a fully stocked bar).

That is, unless you walk out on the adjacent wraparound balcony. You can watch the sunset on the balcony from a custom Treesse minipool spa. Just don't forget to grab an always-on-hand, complimentary bottle of Veuve Clicquot first.

If, like me, you're still a little blown away by the fact that anyone is shelling out $11,000 a night for a room on a cruise ship, one other thing to remember is the Regent Suite comes with a lot of extras.

In addition to unlimited spa treatments, perks of staying in the complex that come at no extra cost (well, after the initial five- or six-digit payment for the sailing) include first-class domestic flights to reach the ship. Those staying in the suite also get a personal car, driver and guide in every port. They have a concierge on call before they sail to help them plan their trip and, of course, the dedicated butler to help make arrangements once they're onboard.

The butler isn't just any butler, mind you, but the head butler for the entire vessel.

Built at a shipyard in Ancona, Italy , Seven Seas Splendor was christened on Friday in Miami by American model and actress Christie Brinkley. It will sail from Miami with paying passengers for the first time on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Seven Seas Splendor will spend the next couple months sailing out of Miami, San Diego and New York City before moving to Europe for the spring, summer and fall. European itineraries will include voyages to the French Riviera , Greek Islands , Iberian Peninsula and United Kingdom .

Regent Seven Seas Grandeur builds on luxury of 2 sister cruise ships

O RLANDO, Fla. — The luxury pedigree that Regent Seven Seas welcomed with Seven Seas Explorer in 2016 continued with sister ship Seven Seas Splendor in 2020, but the third and final sister Seven Seas Grandeur offers up the best of class.

The ship’s features include the first Fabergé egg with a permanent home at sea. The blue-pearl-and-diamond sculpture titled “Journey in Jewels” is a small but commanding centerpiece rotating within its display case in the atrium for travelers to enjoy as soon as they step on board.

The egg is revealed as seven branches break away like waves that represent the Seven Seas. The ship’s godmother is Sarah Fabergé, the great-granddaughter of Peter Carl Fabergé.

It’s part of a 1,600-piece art collection that includes classic black-and-white photos from global destinations adorning the hallways between cabins to the steakhouse’s original Picassos. Travelers could spend a good afternoon wandering hallways and public spaces, akin to visiting a museum. A new app for the line also offers a digital art tour, like a personal guide.

“With each new ship, our team works tirelessly to identify and source the most impressive array of art pieces, building a collection that would be enviable by most modern-day museums, to ensure our guests’ time onboard is as enriching and thought-provoking as their time on land,” said Regent Seven Seas Cruises President Andrea DeMarco.

All three ships in the Explorer class are about 55,500 gross tons, with Grandeur sporting a 744-guest capacity among its all-suite offerings. The line has three older ships and just had two larger vessels ordered by parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, but they are not due until 2026 and 2029.

Until then, the three sister ships continue the line’s most refined take on their global, all-inclusive itineraries, with both Splendor and Grandeur set to return to Miami for the 2024-25 winter Caribbean season.

The line has given all three Explorer-class ships a succession of superlative monikers. Seven Seas Grandeur was dubbed with “A Heritage of Perfection,” following Seven Seas Explorer’s “the most luxurious cruise ship ever” and Seven Seas Splendor’s “the ship that perfects luxury.”

With 548 crew, Grandeur boasts a 1:1.36 crew-to-passenger ratio similar to its two sisters, so needs among travelers are attended to promptly.

The ship’s interior spaces are crafted by Miami-based Studio DADO, which has put its mark on sister lines Oceania Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line.

That includes new takes on main dining venue Compass Rose, which DADO founding partner Yohandel Ruiz called “a feast for the eyes.”

It’s filled with fantastical tree-like arches right out of Alice in Wonderland with a cascading waterfall sculpture. At night, thousands of individually placed crystal-faceted leaves encrusted on pillars and branches illuminate the space.

The ship has five signature restaurants on board, including steakhouse Prime 7, Italian option Sette Mari at La Veranda, French offering Chartreuse and the latest version of Asian restaurant Pacific Rim, this time bringing a delicate bronze-and-glass bonsai cherry blossom tree sculpture as the centerpiece at the entrance. It’s a welcome and fitting addition to the dragon and prayer wheel sculptures on its two sister ships.

The ship has 15 suite categories, all with their own balconies. The pinnacle of sailing options is the 4,443-square-foot Regent Suite at $11,000 a night. It features a $200,000 Hästens Vividus custom handmade mattress, an in-suite spa retreat with a personal sauna and steam room and 270-degree views from the ship’s bow from a 1,292-square-foot wraparound veranda. Those passengers get their own butler and personal car and driver in every port.

Some seven-night Miami-based sailings go for as low as $3,700 per person based on double occupancy.

For everyone on board is the spa with an infinity pool that looks out over the stern, fitness center, jogging track, casino, several lounges, card room, library and main pool. Top-deck fun includes pickleball, shuffleboard, mini golf and ping-pong.

A big draw to Regent is the mostly inclusive offerings, including free and unlimited shore excursions, round-trip flights, unlimited internet, prepaid gratuities, ground transfers and other amenities.

One of the best offerings on board, though, isn’t free. Back again is the Culinary Arts Kitchen, a staple borrowed from sister line Oceania Cruises, but a massively popular offering that lets 18 students create memorable dishes under the guidance of a chef team.

During a preview cruise for media in January out of PortMiami, the class was led by the amiable Chef John Stephano talking students through a pair of sample dishes – pasta al limone, which is lemon pasta, and French crêpes with an allspice berry ice cream, offered during what are normally two-hour-long classes twice per day on sailings.

“I promise you’re going to make delicious and delightful food,” he said but joked that “anybody that struggles with their culinary skills today, we’ll be sending you down to the galley to help us out.”

Stephano deftly demonstrates and drops bits of history and detail during the demonstration with students gathered around, who then go one of the 18 individual stations equipped with induction cooktops, stainless steel sinks and a collection of tools, tongs, pots and pans, while he and assistant chefs make the rounds to ensure everyone is figuring out the steps.

The course options vary per cruise pulling from nearly 50 curated thematic class titles such as “1493: The Foodies’ New World,” “Familia Cubana” and “Flip-Flop Floribbean.” Classes are an extra $89, which is about the only extra-cost feature on a Regent sailing. They are often themed to the location where the ships sail.

The culinary team also has a hand in creating some of the unique excursions, which then pair up with some of the classes.

Grandeur just finished out its first run about the Caribbean during mostly sold-out itineraries from PortMiami and is now amid a set of Mediterranean voyages for summer 2024. It will then make its way to New York for fall color itineraries of Canada and New England in September and October and then return to Miami to begin the winter Caribbean sailing season into 2025.
