Wine: Gris Variety composition: 100% Pinot Grigio. Denomination: D.O.C. Friuli Isonzo. Alcoholic strength: 14,5% vol. Vintage: 2009. Serving temperature: 12° – 14° C.

Tasting Notes Crystal-clear, without any presence of suspended sediments, with a lively yellow color tending towards gold, with a good consistency. The olfactory profile remains broad, intense and of good quality. Along with hints of fresh flowers, notes of yellow flowers are now perceived, which keep their freshness intact. The fruity notes have evolved, harmonized further. An intense scent of spices and aromatic herbs remains: vanilla intertwined with hints of sage and rosemary. The sip is soft, round, enveloping, perfectly balanced in its components. Persistent and intense on the palate with its aftertaste of almost candied fruit accompanied by a balsamic nuance. Champion of longevity, it invites the taster to repeat the sip. A vintage that pleasantly moved me.

Domaine Julien Meyer Pinot Gris 2009

Patrick Meyer, the son of the founder, has embraced biodynamic practices, and a quirky nature shows through in this wine. It’s not a typical Alsatian pinot gris: the honeyed, medium-rich nectar rests delicately on the palate, its richness sitting warmly in the mouth, yet brightened by the minerality and acidic backbone typical of the region’s wines. The perfect wine to carry me into autumn.
