What is the best time to visit yellowstone national park.
Because each month has something different to offer, the best time to visit Yellowstone is often a matter of opinion! Typically, spring and fall are a wildlife enthusiasts’ favorite seasons. May is a wonderful time to view bears as they are busy foraging in lower elevations after emerging from hibernation, and elk herds are easy to find as they make their way north on their spring migration preparing to have their calves. September is another active wildlife month as animals like elk, deer, and moose have fully grown out their impressive antlers and are entering their rut (breeding season), making them very active and more common to see. Hearing an elk bugle through the changing colors of the aspen leaves is truly magical. The bears are also very active at this time as they have entered ‘hyperphagia’. This means they are trying to gain as much weight as possible before returning to hibernation, making your chances of seeing a bear at this time far greater than mid-summer.
Both of these months have unpredictable weather. You could have warm sunny days or you could be seeing snow, so plan for both. Mid-summer offers other bonuses that these months do not, like spectacular wildflowers in June and July, and the exciting bison rut in August. No matter what month you visit you won’t be disappointed, but each month brings something special!
Are guided tours of Yellowstone worth it?
Vacations to new places already take a lot of planning, but booking a guided tour makes the process so much easier. Having a knowledgeable local to take you into unfamiliar territory gives you a lay of the land as well as a wealth of knowledge and context that you wouldn’t get by yourself. Guides know the wildlife habits and have the info on the latest movements and sightings, so your chances of finding wildlife greatly increase on a tour. We commonly hear that people wish they had taken their tour at the beginning of their trip so that they could have been equipped with everything they learned for their remaining time in the park. Even if it isn’t your first time visiting, there is probably a lot you didn’t know about the park that you can learn from your guide!
How many days do you need for Yellowstone Tours?
If your time in Yellowstone is limited, we offer day tours that last between 10-12 hours. Think of this as a tour of the greatest hits. You will be amazed at how much you can see and learn in a single day! If you have more time and want a more in-depth experience with more opportunities for wildlife watching, a 2-3 day tour is a great choice. This allows you to slow down and take in more of the park at your own pace. Yellowstone is 2.2 million acres and is home to over half of the world’s geothermal features, so it is easy to spend several days in the park and still wish you had more time. We offer tours up to 5 days long for this reason!
What is the best way to visit Yellowstone National Park?
Yellowstone National Park is very accessible with 5 entrances and a variety of lodging options. Flying into Jackson Hole gives you access to the south entrance, while flying into Bozeman is most convenient for the north entrance. Plenty of campgrounds and RV parks make road tripping an ideal way to visit, but as popularity continues to rise be sure to book ahead! Many towns surrounding the park are desirable locations to base out of. Jackson, West Yellowstone, Gardiner, Bozeman, Cody and Cooke City are very popular choices.

Engine & Transmission
Time the car takes to reach 100kmph from a standstill
Timely services will keep a motor efficient and in top shape.
The official title given by the manufacturer in terms of the name of the engine, the displacement and the number of cylinders.
A bigger displacement and more than four-cylinders generally indicate a performance-oriented engine.
All cars in India either run on petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG or electric power.
Gives a good idea of the performance of the vehicle under full thrust. A higher figure here usually means a higher top speed as well.
Higher the power, the peppier the engine but it can also affect fuel economy.
Relates to in-gear acceleration. A higher figure here means better roll-on acceleration, fewer gear shifts, and possibly better fuel efficiency.
The more torque at low RPM range makes the engine feel more responsive. It also allows the engine to run smoothly without too many gear changes.
This is the maximum fuel efficiency that an engine gives. All numbers are provided by the manufacturer based on tests conducted and specified by the standards of the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India)
Such fuel efficiency attained while driving in special conditions makes it unlikely to get it in real-world conditions
Approximate maximum number of kilometers which can be traveled on a full tank of fuel or fully charged battery
Cars come with different drivetrain configurations depending on the segment.
Front-wheel drive (FWD) is most common in mainstream cars while expensive cars or SUVs come with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).
Type of transmission used to transfer power from the engine to the wheels
A manually operated transmission is the most popular type, thanks to its simplicity and low cost. Varied types of automatic transmissions are also available.
Set by the Indian Government, this governs the amount of air pollutants released by cars to make the atmosphere safer for humans.
Manufacturers today offer turbochargers to boost engine power without affecting its fuel economy. Superchargers are found in more expensive cars but on the downside, they are not very efficient.
Turbochargers are more effective but require plenty of heat management. Superchargers, meanwhile, offer linear bump in power but they are comparatively more complex.
Dimensions & Weight
The length of the car decides its segment. In India, cars that are less than 4 metres in length enjoy reduced excise duties.
- Length: 4661
Longer length results in more cabin space. It also adds to straight line stability.
A car's width is defined as its widest point without its mirrors.
- Width: 1894
Although more width gives you more lateral space inside the cabin, it makes the car more difficult to park in narrow spots.
The height of the car denotes the highest point of the vehicle from the ground.
- Height: 1786
Taller the car, the more headroom there is on offer inside the cabin. However, a tall boy stance also affect the car’s centre of gravity which can cause more body roll.
The space between the center of the front and rear wheels.
- Wheelbase: 2741
The longer the wheelbase, the more space there is inside the cabin.
It’s the space between the lowest point of the car and the ground.
- Ground Clearance: 205
If the car has a good amount of clearance, it’s easier for it to clear big speed breakers and overall, deal with bad roads.
The total weight of the vehicle with all the standard equipment and all the required fluids.
A lightweight car will always be more efficient and easier to manoeuvre whereas a heavy car would give you a sense of solidity while driving.
The number of doors define the category of car. For example – four door means sedan, two-door means coupe while five-doors usually refer to a hatchback, MPV or an SUV.
The number of people that can be seated comfortably in the car, which has also been mandated by the car manufacturer.
- Seating Capacity: 7
Smaller cars usually have two rows which can seat five, but some SUVs and MPVs have three rows and can seat around 7-8 passengers.
Boot space defines how practical the car is with respect to how much luggage it can carry.
- Bootspace: 447
A boot with a large and wide opening is ideal for loading heavy items. Additionally, a lower loading height also makes it easy to put in luggage.
The official volume of the fuel tank of a car, usually denoted in litres.
If a car has a large fuel tank, it can cover long distances without refuelling.
Suspensions, Brakes, Steering & Tyres
Almost all cars in India use an independent front suspension which is usually the MacPherson Strut type.
The rear suspension can either be non-independent or independent.
Most of the budget cars have non-independent suspension while the more expensive ones get independent rear suspension which offers better bump absorption.
Most of the vehicles sold in India get ventilated or non-ventilated disc brakes upfront.
- The ventilated discs are more popular thanks to them providing better stopping power and it also works well in hot conditions.
In affordable cars, drums brakes are fitted at the rear as they are cost effective.
Disc setup at the rear is now getting more popular as cars are getting faster in the real world.
The official kerb-to-kerb minimum radius a car takes to complete a 180-degree turn.
Shorter the turning radius, the lesser space you need to make a tight turn or to take a U-turn.
Almost all steering systems in cars today have an assist to help park them better at low speeds - these can be hydraulic, electro-hydraulic or electric.
The wheels used on cars are either steel rims with plastic wheel cover hub or alloy wheels on higher spec models or expensive cars.
Razor cut, or diamond cut alloy wheel design are not getting more popular. Manufacturers usually offer these in top-end trim of their car models.
Important in a country with varying quality of roads, spare wheels ensure one doesn’t get stranded when one of the main tyres gets damaged.
Select premium car models feature space savers (smaller than the stock wheels) to save on boot space.

Roundup: Enthusiast-built safari cars that will inspire you to hit the dirt roads
Written by Daniel Lackey
The recipe is fairly simple: take an orthodox car, add unorthodox ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and hit the dirt.
Inspired by the East African Safari, and in particular, the Martini liveried Porsche 911s that took part in 1978, the popularity of the ‘Safari Build’ continues to climb to heady new heights. While specialists like Leh Keen and Richard Tuthill craft best-in-class offroad Porsche platforms ranging from FIA legal rally cars to the creative and conceptual, the craze has been seeing enthusiast-built projects surface left and right.
Although the Porsche 911 is the most prominent platform, the off-road road car concept can be applied to just about anything. With a splash of Group B and a pinch of Baja 1000, there are a few people who have diverged from the traditional path to create some truly unique vehicles. Perhaps the genre's newfound popularity is due in part to our eagerness to get out of our homes and into the wild following the pandemic restrictions, or, perhaps we feel the need to flee the heavy traffic of our crowded city streets. Either way, it looks like the Safari build is here to stay.
We scanned the interwebs and Instagram to find some of our favorite builds which you can browse and follow below:
Alfa Romeo GTV: Dropped Alfa
The car: Dropped Alfa | The photographer: Jeff Stockwell
Moving a little off-piste, I’d like to introduce you to the ‘Dropped Alfa’, a 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV aptly named after it fell off the back of a truck while in transport. Prior to being ‘dropped’ this Alfa Romeo was built for carving the canyons outside LA. After the drop, it remained badly beaten until brothers Iliya and Nikita Bridan, of Oil Stain Lab , came up with a plan for its reincarnation.
The twins, who both work as designers, discussed many potential plans but settled on a Safari build, after all, they couldn’t damage it any further by taking it off-road. The Alfa lent itself surprisingly well to the conversion. Lifting the suspension proved to be straight forward and the body could accommodate large tires without modification. The tuned engine is better suited to blasting through the desert than climbing steep trails. The car was developed over time but proved so popular that it led them to construct a follow-up Safari build.
I Am Detailing's BMW E30 325ix
The car and photo: Jakub Marek (I Am Detailing)
Expert car detailer Jakub Marek spends his days preparing some of the world's most special cars for premier concours displays. In his free time, he does the exact opposite. After owning over 20 BMW 3-series, he took this 325ix almost completely apart and built it into a off-road capable machine for the Gambler 500 in less than a week (yes you read that correctly). This included making a custom skid plate on front to protect oil cooler and oil pan for the upcoming event.
After servicing the engine and brakes and adding 27/8.5-14 tires, Jakub proceeded to drive the car from LA to Oregon just in time for said Gambler 500 event and the car performed flawlessly.
Alfa Romeo GTV6: Aether Alpine Alfa
The car: Aether's Alpine Alfa GTV6 | The photographer: Shayan Bokaie
Following the success of Dropped Alfa, the Bridan brothers were commissioned by Aether Apparel to build another Safari car. Aether wanted something unique and discussed many potential platforms including a Porsche 968, but the decision was made upon the discovery of a low mileage Alfa Romeo GTV6. Work began immediately. Concept drawings were realized in 3D while they attended to the Alfas electrics and mechanicals.
The rear suspension of the GTV6 is a complex affair with de Dion tube, trailing arms, inboard disc brakes, and a 5-speed transaxle. A simple lift wasn’t going to be possible. The rear end was 3D scanned so components could be designed and manufactured to lift it properly while retaining the correct geometry. The results are simply exquisite, a properly engineered car that can handle off-road with an equally arresting aesthetic that complements Giugiaro’s original design.

With a maximum of 13 guests (in two vehicles) per departure—just 12 on Photo Expeditions—plus two Nat Hab Expedition Leaders and a support staff member, we offer a matchless guide-to-guest ratio and a far more intimate nature adventure. We can move more quickly to areas where wildlife has recently been spotted and access roads and places buses can't reach.
- "Hidden" Wildlife Enclaves, Private Experiences & Fewer Crowds Our itinerary features out-of-the-way corners of Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks that most visitors miss. With in-depth knowledge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, our Expedition Leaders take you to lesser-known areas where wildlife viewing is better and crowds are fewer. Over the years we’ve developed relationships with a range of interesting locals, and you'll get personalized experiences you wouldn’t have access to on your own, such as a home visit with a famous local wildlife photographer.
- Expert Naturalist Guides Add Immeasurably to Your Experience Our Expedition Leaders are professional naturalists and biologists who know this region like few others. Many guide and teach here year-round, all have in-depth knowledge of the places we visit, resident wildlife behavior, and where and when to be in particular places to see animals. Our guides are the most senior in the region, called on to train other local guides. We can't emphasize enough how much difference this expertise makes to your overall experience. They are also in constant communication with local wolf researchers, providing our groups the most up-to-date knowledge of wolf locations and activity. See Expedition Leader bios with traveler comments regarding the quality of our leaders.
- Special Photo Expeditions Include Expert Photography Coaching On our Photo Expeditions, we often begin the day earlier and end later, to capitalize on the best light—slowing down to take advantage of photo opportunities as they arise. And we make the most of autumn's brilliant colors with special fall foliage photo departures, too. Our guides on these trips are not only professional naturalists but exceptional nature photographers and gifted photography instructors, too.
- Extended Time with a Local Naturalist Photographer Exclusively for Nat Hab guests, we have arranged a private home and gallery visit with Dan Hartman, one of Yellowstone's most famous wildlife photographers, whose work has been featured in National Geographic and other noted outlets. His wolf images are particularly renowned, and he is an important Yellowstone naturalist in his own right. Photo Expeditions also spend a day in the field with Dan, gaining insight and tips from this local pro.
- Exclusive Nat Hab Safari Trucks—Pop-Top Roofs Enhance Viewing A far cry from the typical buses or vans other companies use, Nat Hab has crafted new Mercedes Sprinters into specialty North American Safari Trucks . Featuring luxury bucket seats, USB chargers, expansive side windows and a pop-top roof offering 360° views on the landscape, these impressive vehicles provide a superlative wildlife viewing experience, not to mention exceptional comfort. Every guest has a window seat and plenty of room for camera equipment and other gear. These exclusive vehicles make a big difference!
- A Diversity of Seasons So You Can Choose Your Preference No matter when you visit Yellowstone Country, you are in for an exciting nature display. In spring, crowds are fewer, the landscape is bright green with the peaks still blanketed by snow, and babies abound: bear cubs, bison and moose calves, fawns and wolf pups. Bears are especially active searching for food after hibernation, and cooler temperatures tend to mean more wildlife activity. In high summer, wildflowers are in full bloom and animals are still very active. Long days allow us to rise early and linger late, maximizing time for the best wildlife viewing when visitors have left the park or aren't yet out and about for the day. Fall is splendid here, with autumn’s palette of golden aspen and willow contrasting against brilliant blue skies and providing a superb backdrop for wildlife photos. Crowds are fewer again, too, as we listen for bugling elk and look for rotund bears, fattening up before winter.

Yellow Cars: Top 10 Best and Brightest
Drab car colors are the most popular, but not necessarily the best.
Not everyone is looking for an unassuming black, white or grey vehicle. Some want their car to sparkle and shine. They want to let the sunshine in. The more vibrant, the better. But choices for flashy exterior paint are few and far between. In a world dictated by dollars and sense, not enough people are willing to choose bright paint colors, like yellow for instance, when purchasing a new vehicle. If there isn’t enough money to be made, manufacturers won’t offer that shade.
Thankfully though, there still are some bright yellow paint jobs available in the automotive landscape. As expected, many sports cars can still be painted as bright as the sun. But there are a few other surprises. Below is a collection of ten vehicles that are still offered in yellow.
Audi ‘s smallest sedan is targeted toward youthful buyers so it makes sense that it can be had in vibrant colors like Tango Red Metallic, Turbo Blue and of course Python Yellow Metallic. The S3 isn’t the most pure of yellows with a hint of green thrown in, but it definitely livens up the exterior of this sports sedan.
BMW has been adding more and more flashy colors to its performance M brand cars, including the M3 sedan dna M4 coupe/convertible. Although it can look a bit greenish in darker photos, rest assured that the BMW M3/M4 is available in Sao Paulo Yellow which really looks deep and rich in the sun.
Chevrolet Corvette
Chevrolet Corvettes and yellow have been synonymous with each other for decades. It’s the official color of the factory-back Corvette race team and the go-to colour for at the past four generations of Corvettes at least. The great American sports car has always been flashy and it continues to offer plenty of bright color choices, including Accelerate Yellow Metallic.
Chevrolet Spark
It’s not just sporty cars that get an invite to this party; yellow cars come in all shapes and sizes. Even an incredibly practical car like the Chevrolet Spark can show off its fun side with a multitude of in-your-face color options like Mystic Blue, Cayenne Orange, Red Hot, and of course, Nitro Yellow. These add a little personality to an otherwise sensible subcompact.
Ford Mustang
Of course the Ford Mustang could not be left off this list. Like the Chevrolet Corvette and BMW M4, it is offered in a wide variety of eye-opening colors, but the Grabber Yellow, especially on the Mach 1, is a favourite of ours. It makes the pony car as visually loud as it is as when every one of its 480 horsepower are unleashed.
Jaguar F-Pace
We give major Kudos to Jaguar for allowing its mid-size F-Pace SUV to be finished in a variety of fun colors. Not many manufacturers are willing to offer so much choice on something like an SUV, but if a customer is willing to pay, there are over 25 colors that can be had on any trim level of the F-Pace. But it doesn’t come cheap. The cost to finish a F-Pace in Sorrento Yellow is $4,550 alone.
Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe
As a direct rival to the Audi A3/S3, the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Coupe of course has to also be available in yellow. Called Sun Yellow, this shade is one of the more pure yellows on the list. It is available on any trim level of the CLA Coupe, even the sporty AMG. Paired with the black roof and black wheels, it looks extra vivid.
Mitsubishi Mirage
The Mitsubishi Mirage straddles the line between yellow and gold. Although the color is officially called Sand Yellow Metallic, in darker photos it looks closer to sand than yellow. Regardless, like the Chevrolet Spark, the Mirage is available in several fun colors, allowing budget conscious buyers to still have some fun.
Porsche 911
What would a list about flashy colors be without a Porsche on it? Porsche has a long history of offering neon, pastel and other unusual color choices, so it should come as no surprise that the iconic 911 can still be had in bright Racing Yellow. The best part is, this one of the German brand’s standard colors so it is a no cost option to include.
Toyota GR Supra
There is something about a Toyota GR Supra in yellow that just feels right. Maybe it’s because, like the fourth generation Supra, the new model looks so good in this particular hue. It has more of a deeper yellow than other vehicles on this list and fits the car perfectly.

Open Safari Jeeps
Open-side 4×4 safari jeeps – types of safari vehicles.
Types of 4WD Open-Side Safari Vehicles
This is the type you will likely use if you decide to take a luxury fly-in safari. They are almost always found within the parks and reserves and will only pick you up from the airstrip when you flight arrives.
When it comes variation, the Open Side Safari Jeep is no exception. Some will be completely open allowing unfettered interaction with nature – getting up close and personal with the sights, sounds and smells of the bush. Other types of Open Safari vehicles will have a canopy on the top to protect you from the sun and rain.
Safari Destinations Where the 4×4 Open Jeep is Used
They are mostly used for safaris in southern Africa destination, namely Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Zambia . But as mentioned above, a good number of private conservancies in Eastern Africa safari destinations of Kenya and Tanzania also prefer the use the open safari jeeps.
Are Open Safari Jeeps Safe? All precautions and common-sense approach employed, the answer is YES. most of Africa’s wildlife do not see human beings in an open-sided safari vehicles as a threat. A leopard or lion can walk past you in an open-sided vehicle and not give it a second look. This means a safari in an open vehicle is safe providing the proper precautions are taken. Many of these precautions are common sense: for example, talking in low voices and making no sudden movements.

Seating Arrangement On the Open Safari Jeep
As the name suggests, they are open on both sides, making them ideal for game viewing, photography, bird-watching while offering an intimate and real connection with the African wilderness.
It is important to note that since these vehicles are mostly stationed in the safari camps and lodge – and so there are fewer them stationed there. That means one will almost always have to content with sharing with other guests from the camp or lodge where they are staying. If you prefer to have exclusive use of an open vehicle this needs to be arranged, at extra cost, in advance. Some open safari jeeps are designed with tiered seating, so that nobody’s view is blocked by the person in front of them.
Protection from the Weather Elements
Due to their being open, there is obviously limited protection from the the elements, it is therefore vital that you protect yourself against the sun. Hats, scarves and windbreakers are all excellent shields from fierce and hot Ultra Violet rays. Some of these vehicles do have canvas/plastic canopies that can be closed, if the weather becomes un co-operative. Thunderstorms in Africa can be wild, and come on within minutes!

What are the Different Types of African Safari Vehicles?
Game Viewing Experience What are the Different Types of African Safari Vehicles?
The type of safari vehicle you will be riding in will generally vary depending on the style of safari you choose and your African destination . The design and purpose of these different safari vehicles are to provide the most comfort and enhance your game-viewing experience . Below is an overview of the most common vehicles used based on destination.
Southern Africa Game Drive Vehicles
- South Africa
In southern Africa, camps and lodges are generally located in private concessions and therefore safari vehicles tend to be more open. Most often Open-sided 4×4 Land Cruisers and Land Rovers with tiered seating are used during game drives. The open safari vehicles allow you to feel closer to the wildlife and nature as well as offer great visibility and awesome photography opportunities. In private game reserves, these open vehicles also tend to have removable roofs that your driver can pop on and can provide shade from the sun or can keep you dry during a light shower. In addition, game drive vehicles in South Africa tend to have a bucket seat mounted on the front of the car for the tracker. This allows the tracker to read the roads for wildlife tracks or droppings in order to find animals quicker.
Eastern Africa Game Drive Vehicles
Vehicles in East Africa are generally less open . This is mainly due to open vehicles not being permitted in certain areas such as driving between national parks as well as in some parks- Ngorongoro Crater. This is mostly for your safety. Open-sided vehicles are not suitable for normal roads or where wildlife animals are more likely to jump or climb on the vehicles. For example, in parks where there is a big cheetah population or baboons. Although this makes for an exciting safari and thrilling encounter, it is best to enjoy these animals from behind the car door. Also traveling from park-to-park, between airstrips, or transfers from camps/lodges may require going long-distances which make being in a closed vehicle more comfortable. As well as provide protection against unexpected rains, winds, and dust.
The closed vehicles used by Safari Ventures generally are modified Landcruiser 4×4’s. The vehicle has three rows of comfy seating and seats 6 guests where everyone gets a window seat to the greatest show on earth and features a pop-top roof hatch which can be raised for 360 degrees game viewing and taking amazing photography within the national parks. Although we cannot totally avoid the amazing “African massage” you may experience on your safari, the vehicles we use have a special suspension system to help counteract the uneven roads and terrain in the game parks and provide maximum comfort while driving.
In private game areas, the vehicles used are exclusively for off-road game drives and tend to be open vehicles, often having a removable roof canvas for shade like the safari vehicles used mostly in Southern Africa.
As you can see the type of safari vehicle can vary depending on the destination and safari type. Nonetheless, we at Safari Ventures make it a mission that you will have one of the most memorable and exciting safari experiences.

African Safari Vehicles
20th September 2019
All about safari vehicles
Safari vehicles can be broadly defined into two categories; open sided and closed sided. Where you go, and whether you “drive in” or “fly in” to camps will define whether you get an open sided or a closed sided vehicle. If you drive in to the camps, you will likely be in a closed sided vehicle, as for longer journeys these offer a bit more comfort such as air con! If you “fly in”, you will mostly have an open-sided vehicle, which is tailored more for game drives than long distance transfers.
Open sided vs closed sided safari vehicles
We think the only real reason to go with a closed sided vehicle, is if you are driving long distances, as it does offer a bit more comfort for these journeys – there is not so much being battered by the elements. Other than that, for a wholly enriching safari experience, open-sided is always better. This is because you feel physically closer to the action, and there is nothing quite like driving back from a beautiful sundowner in the open African air – the atmosphere Is palpable and not to be missed. Other than this, you get a far better view of the sightings in open-sided vehicles. In the “pop top” closed sided vehicles, whenever there is a sighting, you have to all cram through the sunroof to get an exceptional view. Whereas in an open-sided vehicle, your guide can simply position the car so everyone has a great side on view, allowing for better sightings and photos.
To be close to the action, open-sided is king!
Why are safari vehicles open sided?
- You feel closer to the action
- Uninterrupted views
- Excellent photographs
- For the atmosphere of being in the wild

Are open safari vehicles safe?
The short answer is, yes. Of course, any holiday where you are surrounded by wild animals can at times be unpredictable. Rest assured though, the guides you are with have the best possible training, and often years and years of experience out on game drives. They can sense what the animals are feeling, and if they feel as though one is showing signs of irritation, they will safety manoeuvre out of danger. Though, this is the same story with closed sided vehicles! The wildlife tends to see a vehicle, closed or open-sided, as one single block and they don[‘t distinguish individual people. As long as you listen to your guide – no standing up, abrupt movement and no loud noises when at a sighting , then you should be absolutely fine.
The best 4×4 safari vehicle
There is much debate as to whether Land Rovers or Land Cruisers offer the ultimate safari vehicle – this is a debated topic! Many people say Land Rovers are a better fit for the bush in wet season, as they are lighter so are harder to get stuck. Both are exceptional vehicles though, and very comfortable with 6 seats and both offer the best game viewing opportunities. Back in the old days, Land Rovers were the norm and if they broke, everyone knew how to fix them,. However, as they progressed they got more electronic and people moved away from them. At that time, Toyotas stole the market and now, most safari camps have Land Cruisers with only a few exceptions. Truthfully, Land Cruisers do offer slightly most comfortable ride.
Off road safari vehicles
In extreme conditions, do not fear – your guide’s vehicle would have thought of it! For example, the vehicles in the Okavango Delta have “car snorkels” as often they are driving through deep water as the floods are in full swing. Even if you did get stuck – don’t worry! Every guide has a radio and phone and are often in communication with other guides in the area – on safari, if someone is stuck, lots of people will rally to the cause. All part of the adventure!

10 Mistakes to Avoid on a Safari, According to Experts
Lions, leopards, and elephants, oh my! The allure of a safari is enticing — but so is falling prey to these amateur moves. So, we talked to experts to ensure the antics are left up to the animals.
The night before my first safari drive in Nepal's Chitwan National Park in 2017, my tour guide pointed at me. Thinking he was about to make an example of me for my white ExOfficio BugsAway Damselfly jacket, I was shocked when he said my outfit was too bright for the game drive.
In my head, white was the ultimate neutral color, which I knew we were supposed to wear. But what I didn't realize was that, in the context of safaris, neutral meant shades that blend into the surroundings, like greens and browns.
On top of that, a few of my fellow travelers were taking malaria pills — something I hadn't even thought of. Needless to say, I was beyond unprepared.
Then, last year, when I saw a single spot left on my dream itinerary, G Adventures' National Geographic Journeys' Explore Southern Africa , I went for it, even though departure was only a few weeks away. Of course, I immediately went to my doctor for the right medication and pulled every camouflage item out of my closet. However, I still found myself covered in dirt and fumbling with binoculars and cameras when I should have been focused on searching for the Big Five.
To ensure your safari experiences go smoother than my trip-ups, I talked to experts about the biggest mistakes people make when they head into the wild. Here are the 10 biggest mistakes pros say you should avoid on a safari vacation.
1. Not Doing Proper Research
Not all game reserves and safari lodges are created equal — and if checking the Big Five off your list is a priority, then you should understand exactly what you're booking. "It's important to do your homework on the quality of the game viewing, qualifications of the guiding team, and the standard of the accommodations," says Royal Malewane director Juan Pinto, who has more than 20 years of industry experience, including as a field guide and master tracker. "The general rule is that you get what you pay for, from the number of guests in a game drive vehicle to the personalization of the experience." He also says to consider the access you'll get at a private lodge with guides who can go off-road any time versus at a national park, where there are set hours and restrictions on the number of vehicles. "Sightings can be very congested," he adds.
2. Wearing the Wrong Colors
"Every time you see photos of people on a safari, they are decked out in khaki, cargo 'safari' outfits, but it's really not necessary," says Carrie Maldovan, cofounder of Above Safaris . But the right colors can help you blend into the setting, so that you don't distract the animals. "It's a good idea to pack neutral colors, like olive green and beige," says Pinto, adding that if your itinerary includes a bush walk, it's essential to avoid black or white, which are considered "danger" colors. Maldovan also says to avoid blue and black on game drives since tsetse flies and other insects tend to gravitate toward those shades.
3. Packing the Wrong Types of Clothes
While the impression is that safaris usually take place in warm weather climates, the temperatures do drop from day to night, so layers are key. "It's easy to forget about the crisp evenings and those really crisp early mornings when packing for a safari," says Samantha Couture, G Adventures ' director of product for Africa. "Nothing too formal is required. In general, even upscale lodges have a relaxed, casual dress code, so no need for anything fancier than pants and a clean shirt." Maldovan also reminds travelers of the conditions. "Most roads are dirt roads, so there is a lot of dust flying around — it's better to rewear your game drive gear and save your clean clothes for back at the lodge."
4. Not Listening to the Guides
"The expertise and knowledge of the guides make a critical difference to the safari experience and the safety of guests," says Pinto, advising people to inquire about the FGASA (Field Guides Association of Southern Africa) qualifications of the guiding team before your trip, if you're headed to that region. Once you pick a company you trust, it's essential to listen to the guides. "From cultural misunderstandings to dangerous animal encounters, the biggest mistake that people can make on a safari is assuming they know best instead of listening to their professional safari guides and staff," says Maldovan. "These guides have extensive training that enables them to be the experts in all situations that can come up in the wild. Their job is to keep clients safe and give them an amazing experience. All the clients need to do is sit back, relax, and follow the directions of their guides."
5. Expecting to See Animals at Every Turn
Keep in mind that this is the animals' home turf — and not a theme park attraction. The animals' jobs are far from trying to entertain guests. Most of the game drives will take place in the (very) early morning and late afternoon to catch the animals at their most active. "Remember that you are in the wild and the animals are not tame," says Pinto. "Most guests are extremely respectful of their surroundings, but they often forget to put their phones on silent mode. Some even try to make noises to get the attention of animals for a photo. It's not a space to be brave or reckless."
6. Not Respecting the Locals
A major aspect of traveling to a safari destination is learning about the local culture. "The people I meet along the way are the reason I fall in love with a place," says Couture. "With this in mind, when taking photos of anyone, it's so important to ask for permission first… It's an instant way to convey respect and show your appreciation for the people around you sharing their story."
7. Fussing With New Equipment
As exciting as the idea of being a wildlife photographer is, a safari probably isn't the best place to try out brand-new equipment. "If you're not an experienced photographer, don't waste your money on a fancy DSLR camera," says Maldovan. "You'll end up wasting tons of time trying to figure out the camera and will probably not end up with very nice photos." She suggests sticking with a point-and-shoot camera and making sure you're familiar and comfortable with the device before the trip. Couture adds, "The quality of the camera on our phones these days is incredible, but it's important to remember that you will be in a vehicle most of the time on safari and may not have access to a charger, so battery life will come into play as well."
8. Forgetting Sunscreen and Bug Repellent
Even when it doesn't necessarily feel hot outside, you'll still be exposed to the elements, so remember to bring sunscreen — and reapply it throughout the day. Also, these locations are often home to insects. "Mosquito-borne illnesses are possible to contract in many safari destinations, but even more likely is the discomfort of having a ton of itchy mosquito bites," says Maldovan. Check with your doctor a few weeks before departure to see what is recommended for the particular area. That will give you plenty of time to get prescriptions, like malaria pills, some of which require a first dose 48 hours before travel.
9. Expecting the Comforts of Home
The hotels and lodges in safari destinations can be luxurious and stunning in terms of design and quality, but it's important to realize that you're also likely in a remote area without the strongest infrastructure. "Be open to the unique charm of a lodge," says Maldovan. "But you might need to wait for solar water to heat up your shower." That also means leaving some of your normal essentials, like a blow dryer or hair styler, at home, she adds, since lodges are often on solar power all around. Also, Wi-Fi and connectivity will often be patchy and limited to certain hours, so use it as an opportunity to truly disconnect. "A safari is an adventure, and if you embrace it, you'll get amazing hospitality and a truly wild experience, which will be much more memorable," she says.
10. Staying Behind the Camera
While it's so thrilling to snap photos of the incredible wildlife, Couture reminds travelers why they came so far. "Don't forget to get out from behind your camera," she says. "Making memories is what travel is all about — and photos are a huge part of that. But it's equally as important to smell, see, and feel the trip in real time. A safari can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and walking away with both photos and impactful moments is the best of both worlds."

Here's why buying a yellow car might be a bright idea
Yellow cars are solid gold… in the used car market .
A new report from iSeeCars has determined which color vehicles hold their value the best, and the more colorful the better.
Well, usually.
The study looked at 1.3 million transactions of three-year-old cars and trucks sorted by color to determine their depreciation.
THIS FORD TRUCK IS THE VEHICLE MOST LIKELY TO LAST 250,000 MILES
Yellow vehicles lost just 13.5% of their value during the period, compared to an average of 22.5%.

It often tops the list, but not just because people like cheery bright cars.
It's actually the least common car color in the U.S., accounting for just 1% of sales, which makes it a rarity on the used car market.
"Yellow cars continue to represent the greatest disparity between how many are produced and how many people want one," iSeeCars executive analyst Karl Brauer said.
"While not many people want a yellow car, there are clearly more people who want one than exist, which is why yellow performs so well on the secondary market."

The once-ubiquitous beige finished second on the list at 17.8%, which reflects its recent shift toward becoming a niche color.
It was followed by orange, green and red, while black, brown and actual gold were the three worst performers, the last of which saw an average depreciation of 25.9%.
"It’s interesting to see how color rankings change across vehicle segments, reflecting the shift in preference based on the type of vehicle someone is buying," Brauer said. "Even more interesting is the consistently low ranking of supposedly popular colors like black and silver."
