By Daniel S. Levine - August 2, 2022 10:03 am EDT

All three are in the vicinity of New York City and one stop features her husband, Mark Consulos . Ripa  and Cooper will take the stage at Symphony Space in Manhattan on Thursday, Sept. 29. Tickets for their appearance will go on sale Friday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. ET . Symphony Space members can get tickets on Wednesday. The third announced date is set for Friday, Sept. 30. Frankel and Ripa will appear at the Theatre at Westbury in Long Island. Tickets for this date will also be available on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET .

Ripa announced the memoir on Live with Kelly and Ryan in April . Ripa said it took 18 months to finish the book. It will be released on Sept. 27 by Dey Street Books, a HarperCollins imprint. The book is described as a collection of personal essays about "childhood, motherhood, marriage, her career and the intersection of all the above – putting her thoughtfulness, assertiveness and deep understanding of the dynamics of gender and power on full display." The publisher teased "sharp, funny, and honest" stories from Ripa that highlight her "many dimensions and crackling wit."

On Live , Ripa told co-host Ryan Seacrest  she did not work with a co-worker or ghostwriter, as many celebrities do. "I did not use a co-writer. I did not use a ghost-write," Ripa insisted. "If you were to look at the Google searches on my phone right now, you would find things like, 'Synonyms for good.' 'What is a semicolon.' I'm not kidding!"

Ripa also admitted  she dreaded the book's release, which might be why she chose to schedule tour dates with her famous friends. "It's horrible. I'm dreading it. It's like, I keep referencing Kal Penn because he said it best to me," Ripa told Seacrest in April. "When he was here promoting his book, and you had told him I was writing my book. He said to me, 'What level of self-loathing are you?' And I said, 'I've been actively dreaming of trashing the manuscript and giving them their manuscript back.' And he goes, 'You're almost done.'"

Live Wire isn't Ripa's only new project outside Live. She's also hosting the gameshow Generation Gap   for ABC. Ripa's father, Joe Ripa, is regularly appearing on the show, which Ripa says he didn't know when he signed up to appear on the show. Last week, Ripa told Seacrest her father wants  to "renegotiate his deal" with ABC after learning he was in more than one episode. Joe is featured in a segment called "What is Joe Ripa Trying to Sing?" and contestants have to guess the song. Generation Gap airs on ABC Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.

An instant  New York Times  bestseller from Kelly Ripa—a sharp, funny, and honest collection of real-life stories showing the many dimensions and crackling wit of the beloved daytime talk show host.

In Live Wire , her first book, Kelly shows what really makes her tick. As a professional, as a wife, as a daughter and as a mother, she brings a hard-earned wisdom and an eye for the absurdity of life to every minute of every day. It is her relatability in all of these roles that has earned her fans worldwide and millions of followers on social media. Whether recounting how she and Mark really met, the level of chauvinism she experienced on set, how Jersey Pride follows her wherever she goes, and many, many moments of utter mortification (whence she proves that you cannot, in fact, die of embarrassment) Kelly always tells it like it is. Ms. Ripa takes no prisoners.

Surprising, at times savage, a little shameless and always with humor… Live Wire shows Kelly as she really is offscreen—a very wise woman who has something to say.

Live’s Kelly Ripa struggles to sell tickets to book tour as New York venue remains half empty

  • Jessica Finn
  • Published : 15:28 ET, Sep 13 2022
  • Updated : 16:53 ET, Sep 13 2022

LIVE's Kelly Ripa has been struggling to sell tickets to her book tour as the New York venue she's speaking at is more than half empty.

Kelly , 51, whose tome Live Wire: Long Winded Short Stories is coming out September 27th, has three book tour dates at venues in the northeast, with the final tour date showing abysmal sales so far.

Live's Kelly Ripa is having trouble selling tickets for her book tour later this month

The first date immediately following the release, which is being co-headlined with her husband and actor Mark Consuelos , 51, in New Jersey , appears to be sold fairly well, but with a majority of the balcony area still available with tickets going from $39 to $305 each.

The talk show host's second date with CNN star Anderson Cooper in locationally desirable Manhattan is nearly sold out but it's the smallest of the three venues.

However, the Live with Kelly and Ryan host's last date in the tour featuring reality star Bethenny Frankel as the special guest appears to be less than half sold, and that's after Live Nation did a promotional by-one-get-one deal last week.

The undersold event takes place in Westbury Long Island on Friday, September 30th with tickets going from $75 to $129 a pop, and the promotional deal appears to no longer be offered.

Ryan calls out Live co-host Kelly for ‘making all the decisions’

A source familiar with the workings of the tour however told The U.S. Sun that the sales of the shows are in line with the expectations thus far.

"The majority of tickets are sold the week before these types of events in response to increased awareness from additional promotion from the participants and fans focusing on their own short-term schedules," the source added.

Meanwhile, her book itself has caught plenty of advanced buzz ahead of its big release later this month.

HIGHLY ANTICIPATED RELEASE

Kelly penned the tell-all book,  Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories , which is out later this month.

The outlet  Haute Living  shared a sneak peek with interested readers on Friday.

Kelly opens up quite boldly about her sex life and her husband, Mark.

She shared in one NSFW moment that he is "such a c**ksman that he made me pass out," among other raunchy surprises.

'IT WAS THE BEST CHAPTER'

But in teasing her book about life, love, her popular daytime talk show, and more- she also disclosed that one chapter didn't make it past her man.

She told the publication: "There was only one chapter that he told me I could never, ever put into that book, or any book, and I took it out.

"I respected him, I respected it, and I was like, ‘I hear you, even though it’s the best chapter. I’ll honor your request to take it out.’"

She continued: “It was about a transition period in our marriage.

"It wasn’t the empty-nest transition, but an earlier one, and that’s all I can really say about it without him breaking down the door and somehow knowing I’m even discussing it."

RAUNCHY READ

Kelly and Mark  married in a quickie $179 wedding  in Las Vegas in 1996.

The couple- who met in 1995 on the soap opera All My Children- were both based in New York City.

Kelly did write about the "passing out" incident at length, which occurred in 1997, about six months after the birth of her first child, during an early-morning love-making sesh.

She lost consciousness for a scary reason, however - there were two large cysts growing on her ovaries.

“Sex can be so traumatic I think, and yet one of us is completely undaunted,” she wrote in a teased portion about regaining consciousness in a hospital," she explained.

“There he [Consuelos] is, happily munching on the saltines now and ordering a second apple juice.

“Mark could be at a movie or a spa. Instead, I’m flat on my back wondering when the other two cysts will burst.”

After rushing her to the hospital, Kelly said she realized Mark had "dressed me like a dime store prostitute in my time of need" - involving "a 1980s-style French-cut leotard and red 'f*ck me' Manolo Blahniks." she wrote.

She added: "It’s still baffling to me to this day that this is the best costume for the day that he could find for me, to the point where, when I was on the stretcher, I thought I was dreaming; I was having a nightmare."

"I didn’t realize I had come to."

'TO SAVE OUR MARRIAGE'

Earlier this year, Kelly made news for sharing a raunchy Instagram photo checking out her husband's butt .

Her first-ever book sees her proudly exploring this fun, sex-positive side.

And it was actually Mark who wanted her to write it - the stakes were high, she also cryptically shared.

“Mark was my biggest champion in the whole process,” Kelly told Haute Living.

“He read it with the eye of not just a person reading it because they had to save their own marriage, but with the eye of a reader."

Kelly and Mark have  three children together  - daughter Lola, 21, and sons Michael, 25, and Joaquin, 19.

They celebrated  their 26th wedding anniversary  on May 1.

Kelly paid tribute to the day with a photo of the loved-up pair cuddling and called Mark the "love of my life."

Speaking of milestones, this week, she and  Ryan Seacrest  celebrated the fifth anniversary of hosting their talk show and her co-host  teared up quite sweetly.

The Biggest Surprises from Kelly Ripa's Memoir, 'Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories'

From her career to her sex life with husband Mark Consuelos, here are the revelations shared in the television host’s tell-all memoir, out Tuesday

kelly ripa book tour dates

Kelly Ripa isn't holding back!

In her new book Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories , out today, the television host, 51, opens up about her relationship with former co-host Regis Philbin and gets personal about marrying husband Mark Consuelos five days after a breakup, their sex life and becoming an empty nesters after their three children left the house.

The Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host also shares her aging philosophy.

Find out the biggest bombshells from Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories below.

She found out Regis Philbin was leaving Live! on air

Ripa found out her longtime co-host was leaving the show when he announced it "on live TV" in January 2011.

She quickly realized that his exit wasn't about her. "He had his reasons for leaving the show. Nobody gets that more than me," she writes.

However, she wishes that she had not become "a target" following his departure. She writes that she was not to blame, especially when she was "the only person kept out of the room, when that huge show-changing decision was being made."

After he left, Ripa felt "suddenly responsible" for the success of the show, all by herself. She adds that she was "invited back to the show many times, but always declined." (He did appear in a 2015 Halloween episode though.)

She went to therapy after becoming unhappy at work

Ripa sought therapy after she believed she was suffering from depression but her therapist informed that she thought her job was making her "miserable."

"At that time, a different time, a pre-#metoo #timesup time, a pre-women belong in the room where decisions are being made, I. Was. Miserable," she writes.

She adds that she left the office "without a prescription but with some breathing techniques for when s— really hit the fan."

She struggled with finding balance as a working mom

Ripa shares that it was difficult to miss school events when her children — Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19 — were growing up due to work commitments.

"Twenty-plus years ago, when my children were small, women really didn't mention their needs as working mothers," she explains. "Probably because that would have been met with scorn and a possible demotion or pay decrease."

The television personality said that was left to "push down the guilt" of missing school functions and act like she was "managing it all."

She and Mark Consuelos broke up five days before they eloped

Ripa revealed Consuelos that ended their relationship just days before they eloped in 1996, adding that she "had never really been dumped" before their split.

She felt "part rage, part indignation, part I'll show you what you lost."

A few days later, after being forced to be together backstage at, coincidentally, Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee , the All My Children costars returned his apartment to have sex and later went for pizza where he popped the question.

She writes that he suggested, "We have tomorrow and Thursday off. Why don't we fly to Vegas and get married?"

After a back and forth at the restaurant, Ripa and Consuelos flew to Vegas together to tie the knot.

She passed out during sex with her husband after welcoming their first child

Ripa recalls falling unconscious while having sex with her husband after giving her birth to the couple's first child.

She adds that she was taken to the hospital by paramedics following the incident and didn't want to admit what had happened.

She writes, "Am I supposed to tell a complete stranger that I was having S-E-X with my husband and felt a knife penetrate my internal organs? I had a hard time telling my ob-gyn that I thought I was pregnant."

She was later told that an ovarian cyst ruptured, causing the pain.

She uses Botox sparingly

Ripa started using Botox "the old-fashion way — in my armpits because I was told it would help with chronic sweating."

She says that she didn't get Botox in her face until rumors of plastic surgery calmed down and she realized she "must look like s—."

After receiving the injections, she saw an immediate difference. She writes, "All like magic the elevens in between my eyebrows vanished before my very eyes. So did my crow's feet."

"There were things that really bothered me about my appearance. I smile and laugh a lot, which is good emotionally but terrible when it comes to laugh lines," she continues. "I find it ironic that the happier a person feels, the older it can make them look."

She admits that she was "officially a convert" and still uses Botox "sparingly."

Her advice is "when it comes to the face, less is more."

She had a cosmetic procedure on her neck during the pandemic

Ripa opens up about having a cosmetic procedure on her neck after online commentators said her "neck was starting to resemble a vagina" and she began "comparing my neck to other necks out there", especially during zoom meetings.

She admits that she noticed "necks that appeared to be aging in reverse," and decided to take action. She writes, "I'm all about being protective with small, instrumental and preventative changes, rather than the full Silence of the Lambs situation down the line."

She shares that following the procedure, she "took a Valium, as prescribed by my doctor, to calm neck muscles enough to swallow…my pride."

She drank vodka and took a Xanax before speaking at 2015 GLAAD Media Awards

In 2015, Anderson Cooper was presenting Ripa with the GLAAD Excellence in Media Award and she agreed to make a speech despite her "horrible fear of public speaking."

Before the speech, Ripa's producing partner Albert Bianchini offered her a "kloony" which she declined and instead asked for a vodka martini.

With her nerves still high, Anderson said, "If you're nervous, a half a Xanax won't hurt."

She writes, "Without thinking, I slipped whatever it was into my bone-dry mouth and washed it down with the rest of Albert's gimlet. On an empty stomach no less. What could possibly go wrong?"

After Cooper's introduction, Ripa took the stage and was "immediately high, so I have no recollection of it whatsoever."

According to Ripa, the speech can still be found on YouTube "if you want a laugh."

She and Mark Have Embraced Being Empty Nesters

Ripa opens up about her and Consuelos becoming empty nesters after her children Michael, Lola, and Joaquin left the family's home.

The couple's youngest child Joaquin moved out last year and is now a sophomore at the University of Michigan. Lola , a singer now studying abroad in London, and Michael, an actor and producer, are both living on their own.

The television host says she and Mark are adjusting and enjoying time as a couple.

During a beach out, the couple was able to discuss "our future as parents who now have more freedom than were used to."

Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Recall Their Own “Mortifying” Experiences From The Airport On ‘Live’

Kelly Ripa Shoots Her Shot With Jennifer Lopez Ahead Of Her Upcoming Tour On ‘Live’: “If You Need A Backup Dancer…”

‘live’: simu liu recalls disastrous rehearsal for “i’m just ken” oscars performance, admits it “went so poorly” they had to practice the day of the awards show, elisabeth moss details ‘girl, interrupted’ set cliques, says she felt “intimidated” and “not cool enough” to hang with angelina jolie, ‘live’s kelly ripa and mark consuelos humbled by their “terrible” art skills after painting portraits of each other: “we should not quit our day jobs”.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos each had their own “mortifying” airport experiences to rehash on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning.

After Ripa joked that they “were on a plane for 15,000 hours yesterday, but it seemed much longer,” she and Consuelos recalled being in the Denver airport and being “late for [their] connecting flight.”

“So we had to get on one of those shuttle carts,” she revealed. “You know, they ring the bell and they make people move out of the way.”

Ripa highlighted how she was hiding her face in her hands “the entire time,” while Consuelos claimed that he was “proud” to be riding through the airport that way.

“I’m proud. Like, get out of the way,” he said. “Buddy, get off your phone. Get off your phone! Get off your phone, move!”

Ripa added, “Elderly women with walkers, and I am just… I said to Mark, ‘Feign like you have a leg injury instead of an arm injury.'”

She continued recapping her embarrassment, telling viewers, “For me, I’d rather miss the flight.”

“I’d rather miss the flight than do that because it’s so mortifying,” she added.

Although Consuelos teased that he “love[s] it” and even would “want to drive it,” he also had his own “mortifying” experience on this fateful flight. He explained that he “hurt [his] arm a couple months ago and [he] can’t lift anything,” and that he “tore a tendon.”

“So this nice lady on the plane said, ‘Mark’ — well, not ‘Mark,’ she didn’t say ‘Mark,’ she called me ‘sir’ — ‘would you mind helping me with my bag?'” he remembered.

Ripa deadpanned, “And I said, ‘Hang on, I’ll get it.'”

Ripa recalled stepping over her husband to assist the woman in Consuelos’ place, as Consuelos said that both of the women were “Kelly-sized.”

“And this guy sitting down across the aisle looked at me and he goes, you’re an animal,” he joked. “He didn’t say it, but he was looking at me. And he said, you’re a monster. I said, dude, I just knocked over a lady in the buggy on the way over here. I have no problems.”

Ripa once again noted, “So embarrassing.”

She even teased later on that Consuelos “gave [her] the gift of embarrassment for Mother’s Day.”

Consuelos still couldn’t get enough of the cart. “I love those buggies,” he said. “I love it. One guy had a little bell on his. Ding! Ding! Ding!”

Ripa recalled the man “ringing a bell like on a bicycle,” adding, “Only we’re on this cart that’s traveling at 30 miles an hour.”

Kelly Ripa Shares Relatable Excerpt From Her Book: Her Kids ‘Would Call Postmates First and Then 911’

Author image: Karelle McKay Headshot

Before Kelly Ripa ’s new book Live Wire hits bookshelves (pssst, it officially comes out on September 27), the daytime talk show host is sharing a small excerpt with her followers on social media.

On Instagram, the Live with Kelly and Ryan host decided to post a small quote from her upcoming book. In the short snippet, Ripa explained how difficult it is to be a parent, especially in the digital age. She wrote in the caption, “EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it. Parenting while working: The juggle is real.”

Ripa poked fun at her three children— Joaquin (19), Lola (21) and Michael (25)—and how they would likely respond in an emergency. The quote read: “My kids wouldn’t notice I needed help until they were hungry or needed money and even then, I’m certain they would call Postmates first and then 911.” (#Priorities)

In the comments section, fans revealed that they’re genuinely excited to read more of the book. One person wrote, “SIS!!!!!! CANNOT WAIT FOR YOUR BOOK!!!!!!!” with a pink heart emoji. Another said, “Girl I can relate [laughing emoji] Can’t wait to read.”

Even her husband, Mark Consuelos , had to show his love in the comments, writing, “Let’s go!!!”

Earlier this month, Ripa announced that she is going on a small book tour to celebrate the official release. Alongside a picture of her book cover and tour dates, she wrote in the caption, “Equal parts thrilled and nervous to announce my book tour for LIVE WIRE! this fall. A BOOK TOUR! Imagine that. I’ll be joined by some riveting, not to mention sexy guests so head to the link in bio to learn more. Tickets go on sale Friday. Can’t wait to see you. Xx, Kelly.”

Of course, we’re securing our copy as we speak.
