The hugely popular, Platinum selling Mumford & Sons began life in 2007, before finding meteoric success with their indie-pop disguised as Americana.

Featuring Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitars, drums), Winston Marshall (vocals, banjo, dobro), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards) and Ted Dwae (vocals, bass), the band came together in 2007, soon becoming a recognized name in London's growing folk scene. Persitent performing and songwriting led to an appearance at 2008's Glastonbury Festival, gaining many new fans in the process. Shortly after, their self-titled debut EP was released, establishing their name in the indie rock scene.

Two more EPs followed, "Love Your Ground" (2008) and "Cave and the Open Sea" in 2009, attracting the interest of major label, Island Records, who were quick to sign the promising act to their roster. Working with Markus Dracs, producer of Arcade Fire and the Maccabees, Mumford & Sons started work on their debut album. Releasing the single "Little Lion Man," anticipation for their debut grew feverish, with the track being named 'Hottest Record in the World This Week' by BBC Radio 1 DJ, Zane Lowe. Mumford & Sons were then named part of BBC's 'Sound of 2009' poll, making them one of the most talked about acts in the UK at the time.

Their debut album, "Sigh No More," was released later that year, achieving commercial success. The following year, the album was issued in America, on Glassnote Records, finding further commercial success, selling a million copies. Yet it was with their second record, "Babel," that Mumford & Sons became international stars, with the album topping the Billboard Album Chart in the US in 2012, before then selling multi-Platinum. A live album, "Road to Red Rocks," recorded at Colorado's Red Rock amphitheater, was released shortly after that same year.

In 2013, Mumford & Sons were awarded with a Grammy Award for 'Best Album of the Year' with "Babel."Extensive touring followed, which saw the band headline many festivals across the globe, including Bonnaroo Music Festival and Glastonbury Festival. They then embarked on a hiatus, before returning to live performance in 2015, with the promise of a new album.

Live reviews

My Mumford travels for round 5 took me to Columbia, Maryland for their Amphitheater gig at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. The Mumford's were rocking a new sound and new style since last I had seen them. They abandoned their signature banjo for their third album, and decided to plug in for an electric based record. It's different for sure.

That album, entitled Wilder Mind, was well on display this night. Marcus Mumford and company performed 10 of the 12 songs from the May release. This included 5 of the first 7 songs on the evening, showing Mumford has very much bought into this new style.

It's a completely different look for the band. They have a touring drummer with them, on a separate kit from Marcus. At times all 4 of the original band members are just jamming on their electric guitars and basses. My personal favorites of the new material is slow rolling 'Monster' and album opener 'Tompkins Square Park.' I'll also give credit to a cool version of 'Just Smoke,' where the band received help from openers The Maccabees.

For me though, the best songs on the evening were the ones from the bands original albums. They obviously have a different feel to them, and the crowd is much more into those tunes. The biggest song a long of the night was by far 'Awake My Soul.' The loudest ovations of the night, I would say were for 'The Cave' and 'Little Lion Man,' both off the debut.

Lead singer Marcus Mumford did a good job of mixing in the older material with the new. 'Lover of the Light' and 'Dust Bowl Dance' both added some familiarity after a series of new tunes. Marcus is one of the most impressive frontmen in my opinion. Not only does he sing, but he's going back and forth with acoustic and electric guitar, while operating a kick drum. He even goes over to the set and plays a full drum kit on a few tunes.

One thing that surprised me was the attitude of former banjo player turned guitarist Winston Marshall. In my past Mumford show experiences, Winston has always been the lovable banjo player who's smiling, getting the crowd going, and making jokes on stage. I'm not sure if he was having a bad night, but he was oddly quiet. There was no interaction between himself and the audience on the evening.

The rest of the gang voiced their appreciation though and put on a great set. The encore was phenomenal. After three favorites, the Mumford's ripped through new single 'The Wolf' as the final song on the night. I believe this was the best tune. The rocking guitars and whaling chorus make it seem more like a punk song with a Mumford appeal. It was a great ending.

Another awesome show from Mumford, but nothing topping that Babel tour. I like the new album, but not as much as those original two. It'll be interesting to see what direction the guys go from here. But still a worthwhile show.

Trombe e violino apparivano e sparivano.

Grandi assenti dal repertorio BABEL, SIGH NO MORE e TIMSHEL. Mi hanno tolto le mie ragioni di vita :-(

C'erano tutte le condizioni per renderlo perfetto... ma mi aspettavo un pò di più.

It was songs like Little Lion Man & Roll Away you Stone that initially captured my interest in the band. Sigh no More & Babel shared the same vibe with folk elements & some big hooks. For those whose only exposure to the band is these two albums the new tour may surprise some expecting a banjo laden party atmosphere. This is a band that seem intent to break people’s concept on who they are, the third album Wilder Mind changed the game by ditching the acoustic guitars & plugging in the electrics but the distinct Marcus Mumford vocals ever present & the heart of the band still intact. The new album Delta is with out question a brave step for the band & it will no doubt have its critics as the electro-pop & r&b elements will surprise everyone. After seeing them perform a lot of the new material last night those that don’t give the new album a second chance are missing out. The stage & lighting makes everyone feel like part of the show with the stage in the center of the venue & giving the band the option to go to perform to any section of the crowd they choose. Guiding Light, Slip Away, Rose of Sharon & Delta are the stand out tracks on the album for me & most of these were performed at Glasgow last night. It’s a show and a production that needs to be seen to be believed, massive spectacle, clearest sound I’ve heard live & lighting design & fireworks making for a set that you couldn’t take your eyes off. Gutted for those that had booked for the upcoming shows that have been postponed due to “technical & logistical issues” but trust me when they do perform for you it will be well worth the wait. Top marks gents, first time seeing you live but definitely will not be the last.

I've been a fan of Mumford & Sons since the release of their debut album, Sigh No More. I was captivated by their lyrics and instrumentation, and I never knew I could like folk-influenced music until I heard of them. Although I like their first album better, Mumford's sophomore album, Babel, is still great. On the second night of Lollapalooza last year, I got to listen to the lead singer's (Marcus) flawless voice, and seeing the band in the flesh was like a dream. It was such a beautiful night that I will always remember. My friends and I were in the process of recovering from Kendrick Lamar's show as we slowly headed over to the stage where Mumford & Sons were playing. There was an unbelievable amount of people who came out to see them. The crowd stretched all the way up to the road leading to the main area of the park. We decided not to immerse ourselves in the pit since we were still tired from the last concert, so we sat in an area where people were more spread out. It was so relaxing listening to Mumford under the city lights. I could see on the big screens how happy the band was as they played for us. The most memorable part of the concert was when they performed "Lover of the Light." Everyone was singing the chorus, and as the song started to build, there suddenly were fireworks behind the stage, lighting up the Chicago skyline with euphoric colors and light! It was such a beautiful and exciting sight too see. I'm still amazed at how perfectly timed it was. The crowd was so happy; none of us expected to experience a concert and a fireworks show at the same time. I'm so glad that I got to chill with Mumford & Sons after an upbeat day full of concerts.

Mumford and Sons are probably the best live band of the millennium. Their performances are always electrifying with boundless energy that resonates through whatever venue they are playing.

I'm lucky enough to have seen them 13 times in their evolution, from playing their second ever gig in the Union Chapel supporting Laura Marling, to wowing 500 people in a barn for an album launch party where the crowd got to do barn dancing with the band after they performed. Now they can headline Glastonbury and they made their very own Gentlemen of the Road festival which might sadly be the last show I'll have seen them at, depending on whether they return from their "hiatus".

When Mumford and Sons perform they always have a magic onstage and a surprise up their sleeves, usually bringing onstage all support bands or other bands at festivals they've played together with for an encore, wowing the crowd with stomping intense versions of Fleetwood Mac - The Chain or The Beatles - Hey Jude or With A Little Help From My Friends. Mumford and Sons live is a completely different experience from the commercial radio product most people know. They're the greatest songwriters of their generation and their folk bluegrass anthems pump infectious positive energy through every living breathing soul that witnesses this live experience. After Glastonbury 2013 the hype and the sales figures behind Mumford and sons trounced the Rolling Stones. That just about says it all. And they're amazing lovely funny guys.

Mumford & Sons have had an interesting rise to the cult following they now attain. The British audiences first of all embraced their own brand of traditional alt-folk and made the debut album 'Sigh No More' a commercial and critical success.

The Americans soon followed suit with their combined unashamed love of country and everything they consider to be twee and British, Mumford & Sons seemed a perfect match. Now their live show has taken them to some of the biggest stages on both sides of the Atlantic with the stomping folk of the debut and follow-up 'Babel'.

A Mumford concert is quite an unusual affair as the audience is constantly drifting between the hoe-down high energy of 'Little Lion Man' and 'Winter Winds' to the solemn and poignant 'Timshel' and 'Ghosts That We Knew'. There are moments of dark intensity in the form of 'Thistles & Weeds' and the epic main set closer 'Dust Bowl Dance'.

Despite a slight misfire during their Glastonbury headline set, Mumford & Sons have an integrity and craft in the way in which they make music that is often difficult to find in the 21st century.

Wow, what a show! Right from the start Mumford had huge energy, with a Stadium-era performance I haven't heard in years. All the hits interspersed with intimate moments. Highlights included Marcus running up from the floor of the Hartford XL center (hockey rink) to the upper decks all while singing, hugging fans, waving to the audience from the balcony. Wow! The crowd knew every tune and and sang along to most. Foot stomping, clapping high energy crowd. The encore blew me away. At the start, the band members went up to an upper deck balcony with one microphone, and sang a set a capela. Totally soulful, intimate, and engaging. Then they returned to the stage and kicked it into high gear with pyrotechnics, ear shattering volume and energy. They are one of top live performance bands to come about in decades!

It was amaaaazing!!!! Such a great crowd, jumping and singing together to every song, it was a wonderful experience. I have seen Mumford & Sons quite a few times, this was definitely a very special one. It was also the first time I saw the new 360 stage setup, and I absolutely loved it! The members are constantly moving around and with the beautiful lights, design and great sound it is a completely different and exciting level of a live show. This setup makes you feel a lot more ‘closer’, it’s like you’re a part of it all. I am very happy I have the chance to see then again soon at another stop of the Delta Tour, can’t wait! This is something everyone should experience at least once (but preferably tons) in their lives! :)

Mumford and Sons are a live band that never disappoint. The passion that goes into each performance is incredible. Crowd pleasers like "I will wait" "little lion man" and "the cave" will have you jumping up and down fist pumping along with a sea of Mumford loving fans. Mumford started off their career as a cult band playing small venues to less than 100 people now on their arena tours all over the world they still manage to create a gig vibe where you feel a connection to the band. No crazy pyrotechnics no backing dancers or costume changes Mumford are just 4 lads with the occasional drummer or fiddle player joining them on stage who create a mind blowing performance everytime.

CLUTCH 's chief storyteller Neil Fallon declares: "We are looking forward to our tour with RIVAL SONS . Throughout the course of our set, CLUTCH will be performing 'Blast Tyrant' . Both bands have plenty of mutual fans and will garner many more throughout the course of 'The Two Headed Beast' tour. We hope to see you there!"

Scott Holiday , guitarist of RIVAL SONS , adds: "We've wanted to put something together with CLUTCH for a long time! They're one of the acts that we could notice people rep'ing at our shows, so we've always thought it could make a really great double bill! Happy to bring 'The Two-Headed Beast' to life! The riff will be strong on this tour …as will the good times!"

The band have released three official singles — "Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone)" , "We Strive For Excellence" and "Slaughter Beach" . "Sunrise On Slaughter Beach" is the natural culmination of what CLUTCH began as teenagers in the early 1990s. It's a new chapter in an ever-unfolding story which means as much to the fans as it does to the band.

Double Grammy -nominated band RIVAL SONS released two albums last year to critical acclaim. "Darkfighter" (June 2023) and "Lightbringer" (October 2023) were made available on Low Country Sound / Atlantic Records .

RIVAL SONS have recently announced a remastered reissue of critically acclaimed third full-length album "Head Down" (2012); described as "howling blues rock meets psychedelic pop perfection". "Head Down" includes the hit single and fan favorite "Keep On Swinging" , plus poppy retro dance numbers "Until The Sun Comes" and "Wild Animal" . An album that showcases the versatility of RIVAL SONS , "Head Down" also includes the classic ballad of death and loss "Jordan" and "Manifest Destiny Parts 1 & 2" , an epic stonking room shaker of betrayal and revenge of the Native American People. Out on May 24, the reissued "Head Down" will be released on their own record label Sacred Tongue Recordings and distributed through Thirty Tigers .

The family affair kicks off on June 17th with a casino show in Airway Heights, Washington. At the moment, the trek is scheduled to wrap in September, but a press release promises more dates to be announced.

See the full itinerary below. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster .

“It is with the greatest joy to see my sons Shane and Tyler creating great music with their own unique sound that I love,” said Fogerty in a statement. “I was in a band with my brother when I started my music career. Full Circle and I am so happy to see my sons, (brothers) sharing the love of music together, what a thrill that is.”

Shane added, “We’re really looking forward to jamming with our dad this summer and also getting the unique opportunity to open the show. It will be a classic night of rock and roll and some fun surprises.” Tyler agreed, saying, “I’m very excited to share the stage with my Dad and brother again this summer and bring our own band Hearty Har along as well. Definitely one for the books, a summer filled with musical highs!”

In 2020, Fogerty and his sons spent quarantine releasing weekly videos. Later that year, Fogerty served former President Trump with a cease and desist over his use of the CCR classic “Fortunate Son” at campaign rallies without permission.

The rejected working titles of 20 famous rock albums:, metallica – ‘metal up your ass’ (final title: ‘kill ‘em all’).

Metallica's seminal debut album 'Kill 'Em All' from 1983 was originally set to be called 'Metal Up Your Ass' and featured artwork of a hand clutching a dagger emerging from a toilet bowl. The band changed it to 'Kill 'Em All' upon the advice of late Megaforce Records founder Jon Zazula who was rightfully worried that distributors may refuse to stock the album. Metallica did later release a 'Metal Up Your Ass' T-shirt containing the proposed artwork, and a 1982 bootleg recording of Metallica's show at the Old Waldorf also featured the sleeve.

Metallica's rejected 'Metal Up Your Ass' artwork and album title. Fan sites claims that late-great bassist Cliff Burton renamed the album when out of anger, he said, "I hate the managers. Let's just Kill 'Em All".

Iron Maiden – ‘Food for Thought’ (final title: ‘Piece of Mind’)

Iron Maiden initially called their fourth studio album 'Food for Thought' after the heavy metal legends opted to include a lobotomised Eddie on the sleeve. However, when Maiden decamped to Jersey to write songs for the 1983 record, they changed the title to 'Piece of Mind' during a boozy session in the pub.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – ‘Dr Johnny Skinz's Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head’ (final title: ‘I’m With You’)

Easily the most jaw-dropping working title on our list, Red Hot Chili Peppers took inspiration for the 'Dr Johnny Skinz's Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head' album moniker from an acid trip one of Anthony Kiedis' friends had. Kiedis told Spin: "(My friend) was reminiscing about one of his legendary acid trips and told us that he had been playing a sold-out show to the planets and moons, and his Number One hit was, well, that title." Red Hot Chili Peppers sadly ditched the title and called their 2011 album 'I'm With You.' Boo!

Pixies – ‘Whore’ (final title: ‘Doolittle’)

In keeping with many of the biblical themes embraced on Pixies' second studio album, Black Francis initially called it 'Whore' in reference to the Whore of Babylon. The song 'Hey' also features the lyrics "Must be a devil between us / Or whores in my head / Whores at the door / Whore in my bed." In the end, Pixies called their 1989 album 'Doolittle.'

Pink Floyd – ‘Eclipse’ (final title: ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’)

Pink Floyd had always wanted to call their 1973 magnum opus 'The Dark Side of the Moon', however they were forced into a rethink when they discovered that blues rock band Medicine Head had called their third album 'Dark Side of the Moon' a year earlier. The title was temporarily change to 'Eclipse'; however Pink Floyd ditched the title once they discovered that Medicine Head's album was a commercial flop. Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon' went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Green Day – ‘Liquid Dookie’ (final title: ‘Dookie’)

Inspired by their poor diets on tour that led them to get bouts of diarrhoea, pop punk stalwarts Green Day initially wanted to call their third studio album 'Liquid Dookie.' "We had a faecal fascination in those years," admitted drummer Tré Cool. The title was deemed "too gross" by their label Reprise and trio settled on a shortened 'Dookie' for their 1993 tour-de-force.

KISS – ‘Who Dares Wins’ (final title: ‘Crazy Nights’)

Late drummer Eric Carr came up with the idea to call KISS's 14th album 'Who Dares Wins' after seeing the slogan on a piece of clothing. "During a photo session, our wardrobe girl had this commando patch lying around with 'Who Dares Wins' on it, and I said, 'Hey, what a great idea for an album title!'," Carr said. "Then she brought it over to Paul (Stanley) who said the same thing. We ended up not using it because it didn't look good in print, and it sounded as if no one would understand it." Despite KISS ditching the title for 'Crazy Nights', 'Who Dares Wins' featured in some Japanese advertisements for the record.

Fleetwood Mac – ‘Yesterday’s Gone’ (final title: ‘Rumours’)

While recording their 11th studio album at the Record Plant in Sausalito, California back in 1976, Fleetwood Mac gave it the title 'Yesterday's Gone' from the lyrics to their future single 'Don't Stop.' John McVie came up with the final 'Rumours' title as he felt the respective Fleetwood Mac band members were writing "journals and diaries" about each other through the music.

U2 – ‘The Two Americas’ (final title: ‘The Joshua Tree’)

With many of the lyrics contrasting antipathy towards the politics of the United States with the band's deep fascination with the vast country, U2 frontman and lyricist Bono initially wanted to call the band's fifth album 'The Two Americas'. He said, "I started to see two Americas, the mythic America and the real America." Another working title was 'The Desert Songs', however it was changed to 'The Joshua Tree' when U2 decamped to the Mojave Desert with photographer Anton Corbijn to shoot some images for the sleeve. Corbijn suggested the title and Bono was suitably impressed when he read up about Joshua trees' (Yucca brevifolia) links to Mormon legend.

The Clash – ‘Last Testament’ (final title: ‘London Calling’)

According to Billboard, The Clash were going to call their third album 'Last Testament' in keeping with the notion that the double LP would close a chapter in music history that had begun with Elvis Presley's RCA debut in 1956. Although the working title was ditched in favour of 'London Calling', The Clash directly parodied the design for the 'Elvis Presley' sleeve on their album cover. Instead of Elvis it featured the iconic Pennie Smith photograph of bassist Paul Simonon smashing his Fender Precision Bass on stage in New York in September 1979.

David Bowie – ‘New Music: Night and Day’ (final title: ‘Low’)

David Bowie called his experimental 11th studio album 'New Music: Night And Day' and it still had the title when Bowie's schoolfriend George Underwood commenced work on the album artwork. Bowie changed the title to 'Low' at the eleventh hour and the album was already mentioned in various forthcoming release lists for January 1977 as 'New Music: Night And Day.' The labels on some international cassette editions of 'Low' also featured the 'New Music: Night and Day' title on the cassette sticker but the final title on the sleeve.

Led Zeppelin – ‘Thanksgiving’ (final title: ‘Presence’)

Led Zeppelin completed work on their seventh album on 26th November 1975, the day before Thanksgiving, leading Robert Plant to suggest naming it after the American holiday. The idea was quickly abandoned. Designer Aubrey Powell suggest the title 'Obelisk' in reference to the mysterious black object on the record sleeve, however the band opted for 'Presence' instead. Jimmy Page explains: "The record-jacket designer said 'When I think of the group, I always think of power and force. There's a definite presence there.' That was it. He wanted to call it 'Obelisk'. To me, it was more important what was behind the obelisk."

The Who – ‘Deaf, Dumb and Blind Boy’ (final title ‘Tommy’)

In keeping with the story of Tommy Walker, The Who wanted to call their upcoming rock opera album 'Deaf, Dumb and Blind Boy'. Pete Townshend said in 1968: "The package I hope is going to be called 'Deaf, Dumb and Blind Boy' is a story about a kid that's born deaf, dumb and blind and what happens to him throughout his life ... But what it's really all about is the fact that ... he's seeing things basically as vibrations which we translate as music." When the album was released in 1969, they settled on Tommy Walker's first name 'Tommy' for its title.

Queen – ‘The Invisible Men’ (final title: ‘The Miracle’)

Queen's 13th studio album was all set to be called 'The Invisible Men' after the song 'The Invisible Man', however drummer Roger Taylor says that just three weeks prior to release they changed it to 'The Miracle.'

Bon Jovi - ‘Sons of Beaches’ (final title: ‘New Jersey’)

After achieving global success with their blockbuster third album 'Slippery When Wet', Bon Jovi commenced work on the follow-up in early 1988 under the working title of 'Sons of Beaches'. It's lifted from the lines " I can see those sons of beaches / With the surf and the sand and they're living it up" from penultimate album song '99 in the Shade.' It was eventually ditched in favour of 'New Jersey' in homage to Bon Jovi's home state.

Nirvana – ‘I Hate Myself And I Want To Die’ (final title: ‘In Utero’)

Now reluctant global rock icons thanks to the surprise success of 'Nevermind', Kurt Cobain wanted to call Nirvana's third album 'I Hate Myself And I Want To Die.' The title was based on Cobain's standard reply whenever someone asked him how he was doing and was intended as a joke. Bassist Krist Novoselic talked Cobain out of the idea and Nirvana adopted a new title 'Verse Chorus Verse' before settling on 'In Utero', which was lifted from a line in one of Courtney Love's poems.

Sex Pistols – ‘God Save the Sex Pistols’ (final title: ‘Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols’)

Sex Pistols were originally going to give their only studio album the relatively tame title of 'God Save the Sex Pistols'; a play on the title of their anti-monarchy anthem 'God Save the Queen.' At Steve Jones' suggestion, album name was changed to the more anarchic 'Never Mind the Bollocks…' after Jones heard two fans using the phrase. John Lydon said it was a working classic expression meaning to "stop talking rubbish."

The Rolling Stones - ‘Automatic Changer’ (final title: ‘Let It Bleed’)

The artwork to The Rolling Stones' eighth studio album, which depicts a surreal sculpture of a phonograph designed by Robert Brownjohn and a cake made my Delia Smith, was inspired by the working title 'Automatic Changer'. The 'Let It Bleed' title reportedly came from when Keith Richards' fingers were bleeding while recording the album. Refusing to stop playing his guitar, Keith apparently said "let it bleed."

David Bowie – ‘Shilling the Rubes’ (final title: ‘Young Americans’)

Seemingly unable to choose a suitable name for his ninth studio album, David Bowie gave it a number of working titles including 'Dancin', 'Somebody Up There Likes Me', 'One Damned Song', 'The Gouster', 'Fascination' and the somewhat bizarre 'Shilling the Rubes.' He eventually called it 'Young Americans' in keeping with his blue-eyed soul anthem of the same name, which opened the record.

Nirvana – ‘Sheep’ (final title: ‘Nevermind’)

Kurt Cobain initially called Nirvana's second album 'Sheep' in an apparent dig at the flocks of people who might buy the record. He even poked fun at the title in his journal, writing: "Because you want to not; because everyone else is." They eventually settle on the deliberately misspelt title 'Nevermind' as it was a metaphor for Cobain's attitude on life.

Leonid & Friends

Passion. Persistence. Perfection. By Scott Schwebke

With multiple sold-out U.S. tours under its belt and hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, Leonid & Friends continues to astound its global audience with its unique ability in capturing the spirit, musicality, and fire of American supergroup Chicago. And what is even more stunning is that Leonid & Friends, comprised of 11 of the finest musicians in Russia, haven't seen Chicago perform live until recently, yet replicates the band’s complex arrangements amazingly note for note. Chicago has never been in Russia, and none of us have attended their concerts until just recently in the United States," said Leonid Vorobyev, a multi-instrumentalist who is the band’s leader. "We have only recordings and videos (to help us learn Chicago songs)."

Ironically, Vorobyev wasn’t always a fan of horn bands, and as a teenager gravitated to the hard-driving guitar-based sounds of the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Deep Purple, and Grand Funk Railroad. "In the early 1970s in the USSR, electric guitars, amplifiers, and drums were rare to find so at school we were playing self-made instruments," Vorobyev explained. "We were allowed to rehearse in the same room with a horns band. Those musicians almost always were drunk and quite often tried to play with us our rock songs. It was a nightmare, and I hated them all!" But that all changed when Vorobyev heard Chicago. He became an instant fan. "I loved so much the brilliant mixture of rock guitars, drums, and jazz horns with bright vocal harmonies," he said. In 2014, Vorobyev decided to indulge his love for the band by gathering a few fellow musicians in a studio to record a video of them playing his favorite Chicago tune, Brand New Love Affair. No charts or scores of the song existed so Vorobyev transcribed the tune by ear. The result was a YouTube video that quickly went viral. Since then Leonid & Friends has recorded videos of other Chicago hits including Make Me Smile , 25 or 6 to 4 , and Saturday In The Park . All total the videos have received more than 50 million views. Also, Leonid & Friends has recorded two albums showcasing its tribute to Chicago. The process of getting each tune just right is a painstaking labor of love. In addition to scoring and arranging, Vorobyev oversees mixing and mastering of each song. However, he credits his highly skilled bandmates for making each tune sing. "All of my musician friends are highly professional," he said. However, Leonid & Friends hasn’t been satisfied with merely connecting with fans through videos and recordings. In early 2019, the band embarked on its first tour outside of Russia that had fans dancing in the aisles at sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Florida. Two other scorching coast-to-coast U.S. tours followed that same year. “The fans were so eager to see us that some traveled from as far as Hawaii and the Philippines not mentioning flying across the U.S .and driving for hours to attend our shows,” Vorobyev said. “I was expecting a warm greeting but I didn't expect such a warm reception and with so much love and gratitude for us.” In Los Angeles, the band met its musical heroes, founding members of Chicago, keyboardist Robert Lamm, and drummer Danny Seraphine as well as Michelle Kath Sinclair, daughter of late, great Chicago guitarist Terry Kath. “We were so thrilled that Robert, Danny, and Michelle took the time to visit with us,” Vorobyev said. “It was an experience that we will cherish and remember forever.” When Leonid & Friends isn’t touring, band members are in the studio in Moscow immersing themselves in Chicago’s storied catalog of hits and deep tracks while preparing for the next tour. In September of 2018, the band recorded its first song from legendary supergroup Earth, Wind, & Fire and also paid tribute to the band Blood, Sweat & Tears as well. Borrowing a line from one of Chicago's biggest hits, "it's only the beginning" of great things from Leonid & Friends.

Scott Schwebke has been a journalist for more than 30 years and a longtime fan of Chicago dating back to its incarnation as CTA. His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Denver Post, Orange County Register and various publications across the U.S.

Leonid Vorobyev is the leader and founder of the band Leonid & Friends. He is the band’s producer, plays bass and piano, sings lead and backing vocals, transcribes all the musical sources, and he produces, mixes, and masters all audio and video productions. Leonid graduated from East Siberian Institute of Culture as a Choir Conductor. He had been working in various bands as a bass player and a singer when in 1989 he chose studio operations as his main interest and began a career as a record-mix engineer and sound producer. He has been working as a music producer, sound engineer, composer, and musician for about 30 years. Many Russian bands and singers have passed through his hands and ears. At the end of 2014, Leonid decided to give himself a gift to celebrate his retirement by recording a cover version of Chicago’s song Brand New Love Affair. No charts or scores of the song existed so he transcribed the musical source by ear, called upon his friends and recorded the song. What happened when the song was released surprised everyone and was the start of the new project ‘Leonid & Friends’.

Vasilii Akimov

Vocals/Guitar

A graduate of the Irkutsk College of the Arts and Institute of Contemporary Art. Vasily has won several international music competitions. He has been a member of the Russian hard rock band Monomakh, where he won praise from former Black Sabbath frontman Ronnie James Dio.

Sergey Kashirin

Sergey Kashirin was born in 1982 in Tiraspol, Transnistria, in Eastern Europe. A music enthusiast at an early age, Sergey began singing and playing guitar when he was only 8 years old. Following his musical dreams throughout his school years, he was accepted into the Tiraspol Rubinstein Musical College from which he graduated. After graduation, Sergey moved to Moscow where he quickly found work as a studio session musician playing for many Russian pop and rock stars. This led to live performance requests as well. Sergey is a founder of several musical projects, three of which are Real Bodrit, Rock Band, and Smilin’man, a multi-genre project of depth which allows him to stretch his musical and vocal talents. Many people took notice of his talents and in 2012, he began composing music for the film and television industries. Along the way, Sergey made many friends in the music industry and considered a number of them very close. In 2014, he was approached by one of those friends and asked to participate in recording a cover of a song from the American band Chicago for Leonid Vorobyev. The audio recording and subsequent video of the song Brand New Love Affair were not supposed to be anything more than a birthday gift to his friend but the rest of the world didn’t see it that way. After posting it on YouTube for their friends to view the word began to spread, and what was supposed to be a simple act of kindness for his friend, turned into the band Leonid & Friends recording many more songs which have been viewed in over 150 countries at last count. Sergey, being a founding member, performs regularly in both studio and live performances.

Serge Tiagniryadno

Serge Tiagniryadno was born and lives in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine where he runs the popular recording studio Crystal Sound of which he founded. Serge’s love for music started at the age of three with the guitar, and at four years old he began formal lessons on the piano. When he turned nine he added clarinet to the mix. He later went on to study as a television and film director at the Karpenko-Kariy Kiev National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television and he also attended the Kiev Institute of Theatrical Arts. Serge’s introduction to Leonid & Friends came by way of Trent Gardner, the web manager of the band Chicago. He conducted an online contest for Leonid to find a vocal talent comparable to that of Chicago’s Peter Cetera. Serge recorded his first song with Leonid & Friends in the summer of 2015 from his own studio in Kiev but didn’t personally meet the band members until the spring of 2016. Since then he’s been featured in numerous tracks by the band and performs regularly with them on the road.

When he was eight years old, he enrolled in the local School of Music to study the accordion. At the young age of fourteen, he earned admission to the College of Music, where he began seriously studying the accordion and piano. Sergey did so well that at 18, he was awarded admission to the Kyrgyzstan National Conservatory of Music in Bishkek to continue studying the piano, his long time dream. After graduating in 2004, he moved to Moscow, where celebrity singers began requesting his talents. Since then, Sergey has worked and performed with many top musical acts and together with his wife, an excellent singer in her own right, have organized concerts. In 2020, Sergey, his wife, their three sons, and Lucky, their dog, received an early Christmas present. They learned that Sergey was selected to play keyboards for Leonid & Friends, replacing their long time player Vlad Senchillo who left earlier in the year. During his first live streaming concert with the band, Roman Vorobyev introduced him to the fans. Sergey said, “When I saw Leonid & Friends on YouTube, I thought myself maybe one day I would play in a band like this. But now I’m here, it’s a magic, thank you my God, and I very glad to be part of Leonid & Friends. Thank you very much, thank you for trust and I want to see our friends in the future.”

Right from the beginning, the trumpet grabbed Andrey’s attention and he’s never looked back. His parents, a musician and kindergarten teacher, realized his affection for music early and at 9 years old his father enrolled him in a school of music and proposed that he should consider the saxophone. Although Oleg was interested in every instrument he saw, he agreed with his father and began formal studies. Everyone quickly realized how well Oleg was progressing and the decision was made to further his studies. Oleg transferred to the college of music in Arkhangelsk and then on to the Academy of music in Moscow. He remained in Moscow and began playing in various groups performing in a variety of musical styles. He never gravitated toward a single genre saying, “I have no preference in music styles. I love Pop, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Indie, electronic, anything is fine with me.” Oleg went on to work with many artists and played for years with the popular group Bravo which was established in 1983, a year before he was born. In 2017 he was excited to audition for Leonid & Friends because he’s loved the music of Chicago since childhood. He said, “My father introduced me to their creativity.” Looking back on his first USA tour with Leonid & Friends, Oleg said, “I am very grateful to my parents and teachers for helping me to become a professional musician. I love my profession and the smiles of the audiences at the concerts. It is very important for me in life.”

Maxim Likhachev

Maxim Likhachev was born and raised in Moscow where he continues to live today. His love for music began early as a student where he focused on wind instruments. He learned to play the euphonium and its variants as well as various percussion instruments, but his heart centered on the trombone of which he is known for. His talent led him to play in a children's brass band and ensemble with a choir and choreography. He entered the musical institute majoring in trombone and focusing on classical music in preparation for a spot in a symphony orchestra. While studying his musical plans abruptly changed the day he was invited to play in a rock band. He was hooked and he never looked back. Along the way Maxim was introduced to the sounds of the American band Chicago from the early albums and he developed a love for the band and their style that is with him to this day. After graduating from the Moscow Music Institute of Gnesin, he played with many of Russia’s top bands and felt right at home performing studio session work as well. Since his graduation he has remained in rock music and travelled extensively performing in numerous festivals within Russia as well as many places in Europe. Maxim explains that when he got the call to join Leonid & Friends, he felt his dreams of many years had come true. “To play the music I have loved since my youth with an amazing cast of fellow musicians whom I love, and being led by an incomparable director, Leonid Vorobyev, I don’t know how things can get any better musically for me.“ His personal life is singing from the same song book as well. With his loving wife and 3 children by his side, Maxim is proof of what hard work will do for you. He began playing with Leonid & Friends nearly 3 years ago and has become a gem of the bands brass section.
