This is the food tour you have to do in Helsinki.

Update May 2022

It's been an interesting couple of years and I am pleased to announce that the business of food tours in Helsinki is back in full swing. Tastes of Helsinki is the newest offering, and will be available for online booking shortly. Drop me a line or send a message if you are interested to find out more.

A longer outing that will explore Helsinki in more depth is in development. Keep an eye on the blog for more information!

Fork in Hand

Our walk takes about 4,5 - 5 hours, and covers 5,1 kms, visiting 9 stops. The pace is quite gentle, and there is plenty to eat. I do recommend having a very light breakfast beforehand or skipping it completely if at all possible.

The price is 85 € per person and includes your guide and all tasters. I will need to know if there are any allergies or dietary restrictions to take into consideration. Also, there is a beer tasting included so if you do not wish to have alcohol please let me know.

Testimonials

Don’t take my word for it! This is a sample of what my guests have had to say previously:

“This is by far one of the best culinary tours we had in Europe. (and we had some in Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin). The tour wasn't just about Finnish food, it's gave us a wide view of the mentality, the culture & history of Finland.” (Summer 2017)
“A great food tour, but also much more…” (Winter 2018)
“A really good way to spend a few hours in Helsinki. There was just two of us on the tour and we booked at very short notice. Heather was very approachable, knowledgeable and helpful.” (Winter 2018)
“Must do in Helsinki!” (Autumn 2017)
“Food. Culture. A great shore excursion.” (Summer 2017)
“Pricey but so incredibly worth it.” (Spring 2016)

I hope this has whet your appetite! It would be my pleasure to take you on a tasting trip of Helsinki!

The most unforgettable food experience in Helsinki!

Good to know

Where do i find your contact details.

If you want to send me a message via snail mail, you can find the address at the bottom of the page. However snail mail doesn't always arrive in time so here are the fast tracks:

+358 40 1696694 This is good for calling, texting, as well as message apps like Signal & WhatsApp. Note that I generally don't answer the phone when I am out with guests. heather @ heathershelsinki . com Use this to reach me via email. Naturally you don't need the gaps, that's me trying to keep the spammers at bay!

Do you operate in winter?

Yes, we head out all year round and Monday through Saturday. There are also a few public holidays that we are unavailable.

I’m: a vegetarian / lactose intolerant / on a diet / not a beer drinker? Can I still join the tour?

Absolutely! Just let us know in advance – we substitute when necessary and while I do say come hungry, you taste as much or as little as is good for you.

What is the weather like in Helsinki?

We are on the coast, so it can be 4 four seasons in one day! I will give you clothing tips depending on the time of year you will be visiting. Layers is always a good start! You’ll also get a link to the weather bureaus forecast page which is good for forward planning.

How do I book a private tour?

When you fill in the contact form, let me know you are interested in a private outing. It’s not so easily available in summer, although in winter time, you may be the only booking on the day so you get a private tour by default ;)

I’m traveling on my own, can I still join?

Absolutely, our minimum outing size is 1.

We are a group of 10, can we still join?

Send me a request and we will try our very best to accommodate you!

I don’t do herring, is there a lot of herring on the outing?

Contrary to popular belief, there is much more to Finnish food than just herring! It’s just one (possible) taste out of many. Our fish stop likes to ensure that everybody gets to see the best of Finnish fish tastes!

What happens if I have paid and need to cancel?

Let me know as soon as you know! We refund 100% up to 48 hours prior to departure, 50% up to 24 hours prior to departure and 10% refund if there is less than 24 hours notice. Note cruise passengers who cancel due to non-arrival of their cruise ship will be refunded 50% for the first passenger and 100% for all other members of the same booking.

Is there an age limit?

We’ve had attendees aged from 18 months to 80 years! If you are active, then you won’t be challenged. It is a walking tour, and there are some small hills. Prams can often be left outdoors. We don’t charge for toddlers under 2 years old, and offer 20% discount for attendees 2 – 12 years.

The  makeover  that began in 2021 continues into 2022. Now, finally after quite a few false starts, I have a clear vision of what I want the blog to say and share

So it’s time to get typing and recategorising. If you visit over the next few days (or weeks) you will notice new menu items both up and down. It may take some time to get everything lined up though… so I appreciate your patience.

Helsinki Food Tour - Secret Food Tours

tripadvisor

Our secret food tours of Helsinki give you true insider access to the local food scene.

Largely, Helsinki's traditional dining culture features fish, so this tour features excellent samples of Baltic herring and other seafood. Crayfish is often on our agenda, too. Of course, our thoughtful guides will show you other aspects of the city's food scene. Expect a stroll among street vendors with the aroma of fresh blini and grillimakkara sausages in the air.

If you enjoy real licorice candy, be prepared to encounter the world's saltiest variety while in Finland. Locals call it salmiakki, and we'll give you the chance to experience the candy's creation.

Before you depart our tour, we'll also show you what's trending in the city's dining scene, so you'll feel like a true Finnish foodie.

Helsinki is one of our favorite secret food tours, so make your reservations as soon as you can!

A Delicious Helsinki Food Tour with Fork in Hand

We met under the clock at Stockmann department store in the Helsinki city centre. The spot is a common meeting place for locals. A friendly smile followed by a familiar Aussie twang and we made some brief introductions with Heather, our guide for our Helsinki food tour. Heather is originally from Tasmania, Australia but has called Helsinki home for more than 14 years. It soon became clear she knows Helsinki’s history and the culinary scene as well, if not better than any Helsinki-born local. We loved our delicious walking tour tasting the must-try food in Helsinki.

A culinary introduction to food in Helsinki

Our first stop on our Helsinki food tour was an unexpected one; the food hall at Stockmann, on the lower level of the department store.

It’s there Heather showed us the basics of the typical Finnish weekly shop.

From heavy rye bread to Karelian pasties (a traditional Finnish dish made with a rye base and filled with rice or other fillings), Muikkukukko (bread filled with small smoked whitefish) to the prepackaged horse and reindeer meat (we’re told both are only eaten on occasion).

Of course, there are staples we would expect in any supermarket like fresh fruit and vegetables and a small organic foods section.

Our first tasting for the day felt appropriately fishy, given we were in a part of the world famous for its fishing waters.

We tried prawns and salmon with a hint of dill. It was a great way to whet the palate for two people who often start the day with fresh salmon, as we do.

Like its Scandinavian neighbours, the Finnish government controls the sale of alcohol, so it’s not as easy as heading to your local liquor shop or convenience store to pick up a bottle of wine.

The Finnish have to buy their alcohol from Alko and it comes at a heavier cost than you might be used to.

We wandered through the immaculately ordered Alko store in the city centre.

It was great to see some Australian wines on the shelves (albeit at very high prices) and to have a little break from food before we rolled on to lunch.

Helsinki Bryggeri

A brewery seemed an appropriate lunch stop in our list of must-try food in Helsinki.

We found ourselves sitting in a beautifully sunny beer garden at Helsinki Bryggeri . A  rosemary sausage with sauerkraut, mustard and a flight of local craft beers? Yes, please!

We worked our way through the board of beers with the help of the breweries tasting notes.

Vanha Kauppahalli

Vanha Kaupp ahalli , the Old Market Hall first opened its doors in 1889.

The facade looks as it would have all those years ago, but inside no doubt, the choice is much more varied. Whatever your stomach desires, you can find it in the Old Food Hall.

where to eat in helsinki

Cheese platter on the run from Juustokauppa Tuula Paalanen. Image © Skye Gilkeson

We tried a few local kinds of cheese served with cloudberries from Juustokauppa Tuula Paalanen  as we wandered past all the beautiful stalls. Colourful displays jumped out at us as we passed.

There were fresh produce displays, fish stalls, vegan and vegetarian food, organic options, chocolate indulgence and a very popular soup store and tins of canned elk, reindeer and bear for those in the market.

Just as my pants were beginning to protest all the eating it was time for coffee and cake at Hymy. The raw foods cafe was a lovely afternoon finale with a cosy feel, guilt-free treats and coffee.

Market Square

We strolled through the famous waterfront market, Market Square at the South Harbour via the esplanade, on the way.

A popular market with tourists, particularly those who only have one day in Helsinki (many from cruise ships), this is a place to pick up anything from a punnet of berries or to dive a little deeper and try some reindeer stew. If you don’t have time to sit down at a cafe or you want to sit by the water to eat, this is the perfect lunch pit stop.

The Fork in Hand Food Tour was about four hours long and was a stand out as one of the best culinary experiences we’ve had. It is clear why it is considered one of the best Helsinki food tours.

This is not just a straight tasting tour. Heather covers a little of the history, important Helsinki landmarks in between tasting stops as you walk, which we really enjoyed.

A Delicious Helsinki Food Tour With Heather’s Helsinki

Helsinki Food Tour

Considering booking a Helsinki food tour? Find out what to expect, the kind of foods you’ll sample and more about why it’s a great way to see the city.

I’ve said it time and time again on this blog, but my favourite way to get to know a new place? Straight through my stomach! So what better way to understand what makes Helsinki tick than on whistle-stop tour of some culinary hotspots on Heather’s Helsinki Fork In Hand food tour?

We met our Helsinki food tour guide Heather under the Stockmann clock in the centre of the city. Heather’s not a native. Originally from Tasmania, Australia, she’s lived in Helsinki for 15 years. In some ways seeing the city through the eyes of someone who had moved there gave us a better understanding of its quirks. Rather than growing up with them, she’s experienced them as a newbie – making them easier to identify.

Incase you wondered, the Stockmann clock is THE meeting place in Helsinki. A historic store, Heather recounted stories of the days when the lifts had ‘lift ladies’ who pressed the buttons! So, why start here? It’s the premier food store in the city – I’d compare it to the food halls in Selfridges or Harrods in London. It’s upmarket, but also stocks a lot of the basics of Finnish cuisine – from rye bread and cinnamon rolls, to locally produced salamis. It was a great starting point for our education in Finnish cuisine, and after checking out the different reindeer products in the fridge, it was time for our first tasting.

The fish counter is a highlight in Stockmann. There was plenty of fresh salmon, crayfish and caviar along with concoctions ready to spread on rye bread. We got stuck into a few variations of salmon and crayfish – one charred, one in mousse form and all with plenty of lime and dill. It was a great first tasting!

As we wandered through the streets, we nattered with Heather all about her move to Helsinki and listened to a few stories about the historic buildings we passed. It was wonderfully informal – no question was too stupid, and she was full of passion and enthusiasm for the city that had adopted her!

Next, we headed to Kuppi And Muffini, a small café with wooden tables and sunshine beaming through the windows. Along with tasty looking muffins and cupcakes, their speciality was porridge. On the day we turned up it was Heather’s favourite on offer: oat porridge cooked in oat milk. I’ve always found porridge rather heavy and gloopy… toast and marmite is my brekky of choice, but I was willing to give this a go! The great thing about the porridge here, is it’s not just a bowl of porridge. On the counter there’s a huge selection of toppings – everything from tangy berry coulis to honey to almonds and even chilli flakes! It’s fun, creative and, actually, dare I say it, with my selection of berry coulis, seeds and granola, It was pretty tasty! Perhaps I do like porridge after all?!

Last year I remember reading about Restaurant Day in an inflight magazine. It’s a special day where anyone in Helsinki can open a pop-up restaurant. Since its launch in 2011, it’s expanded to take place 4 times a year. Hundreds of people take part and there have been some huge success stories, with Powau Juice and several restaurants launching as a result of their popularity on the big day.

My favourite story was that the government tried to shut the idea down (health and safety etc!) but failed. Everyone wanted to keep it and they were left powerless. It was great to hear Heather’s take on it first hand! I wished I’d been in the city for it… but it turns out, it’s now expanding to be an incentive people can run any day of the year.

Helsinki Food Tour

And with that it was on to Kaartin Kotikauppa – a store claiming to sell ‘everything you need to survive in Helsinki’! It didn’t look like a foodie mecca, but hey, what’s this? They have one of the biggest fridges in Helsinki! The shelves of the fridge were packed full of bottles of craft beers and ciders. While there is a government monopoly on alcohol (you can only purchase it from special stores) small stores like this one are allowed to sell alcohol under 4.7%. It means stores like this are well and truly on the map!

We enjoyed a small glass of sweet but tart apple cider, accompanied by a traditional lingonberry and rye biscuit. As it was graduation time in the city, we also sampled some delicious chocolate biscuits with a crunchy meringue top – which resembled the white caps worn for graduation.

Graduation treats at Kaartin Kotikauppa, Helsinki

Alko – the booze store! No introduction to Finnish food and drink would be complete without a stop there. As mentioned, the government monopoly on alcohol means Finns are only able to purchase wine and hard liquors from this store. That means serious planning – no longer can you nip out for a bottle of gin late on the way to a late night party. The stores are only open regular hours, so you need to stock up in advance. The good thing is that Alko stores are really well organised, staff have lots of great tips, and there’s even a super-modern computer system that recommends wine based on what you’re cooking. What really caught my eye were the brightly coloured flavoured Lapponia liqueurs. After munching on sea buckthorn at dinner a few days before, I would have loved to try the sea buckthorn or cloudberry liqueur. Heather said they were great on ice cream!

Lapponia fruit liqueuers

Booze continued to be the theme with our next stop being at Bryggeri Helsinki – a brewery in the heart of the city. We met German brewer Mattias who was hard at work. Not a beer drinker, I only sampled the rose beer – a wine-infused brew which everyone thought I would like. Sadly, it still tasted of beer (!!!) so I’ve not been converted yet! Everyone else enjoyed the selection of Pils, Weizen, Summer Ale and IPA but I was more excited by the accompaniment – an enormous sausage with potato salad and mustard. Mmmm that was tasty.

Bryggeri Helsinki

You can’t visit Helsinki without visiting the Old Market Hall down by the water. I visited last summer and loved it. We sampled a yummy plate of cheese including bread cheese! It was squeaky – almost like a halloumi, served with caraway crackers and sweet cloudberry jam. A winning combo. Heather pointed out a few of her favourite eateries including the soup kitchen which she claims serves one of the best value lunches in the city at under 10 EUR.

Elizabeth's cupcakes in the Old Market Hall, Helsinki

We stopped for a chat with Elizabeth from Illinois who runs a cute cupcake stall. She simply LOVES to bake. All her cakes are family recipes including a best seller – the peanut butter and jelly cupcake.

Enjoying a bit of June sunshine, we left the market hall and headed for coffee and cake at one of the oldest foodie landmarks in the city – Fazer . Dating back to 1881, the Karl Fazer brand is the Cadbury of Finland. Iconic packaging (the blue is copyright as ‘Fazer Blue’) and a million flavours to choose from, it’s an easy brand to love! I enjoyed hearing how Karl’s wife used to work on the brand too, coming up with iconic window displays – the Easter ones drawing the biggest crowds!

Fazer, Helsinki

We got stuck into a 125 th anniversary special – a cake with a chocolate base, blackcurrant mousse and a mirror chocolate glaze. We also sampled a ‘Budapest’ – a cake with walnuts, banana, meringue and lashings of cream! Delicious and beautifully presented, the desserts were a lovely way to round off an indulgent food tour of Helsinki. Needless to say, there wasn’t a millimetre of space left in our stomachs!

I loved Heather’s passion for Helsinki. Usually I’d say there’s nothing better than hanging out with a born and bred local, but on this occasion, Heather’s years of adjusting to the Finnish ways brought even more to our Helsinki food tour.

Top 10 Must-See Places and Things to Do in Helsinki

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned local, Helsinki offers a delightful blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. From architectural marvels to serene waterfront spots, here are the top attractions that should be on your Helsinki bucket list!

suomenlinna_sea_fortress_church_tower.jpg

1. Must see maritime thing in Helsinki: Suomenlinna Sea Fortress

This maritime fortress is one of the Helsinki must see attractions. Built by the Swedes in the mid-1800s, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to a small baroque settlement. As well as being a historic site, Suomenlinna is also home to around 800 year-round residents and one of Helsinki’s districts.

Take a ferry from Kauppatori to Suomenlinna, the journey takes approximately 15 minutes. Depending on the season and the time of day, ferries run 1 to 4 times an hour from morning to night all year round. The ferry is part of Helsinki’s public transport system, so if you have a valid HSL ticket (HSL Helsinki Region transport), you can use it for the ferry ride.

The crossing is free with a Helsinki Card . With the Helsinki card, you can also get free entrance to Suomenlinna’s museums: Military Museum's Manege and Finnish submarine Vesikko .

Tip! In the summer season, you can see the wonderful Suomenlinna from the sea on our cruises such as Helsinki City Highlights Cruise . The cruise route runs along the shorelines of Suomenlinna, all the way to submarine Vesikko and Kustaanmiekka straight.

2. A breath of history: Helsinki Cathedral and Senate Square

If you google Helsinki must see places, you usually get the Cathedral and Senate Square as one of the results. And no wonder, the place is impressive and beautiful. The iconic green-domed cathedral stands tall in the cityscape. Originally called St. Nicholas’ Cathedral, it’s a neoclassical masterpiece that has witnessed Finnish history from Russian rule to independence.

Helsinki Cathedral is located in Senate Square, which is a historic and scenic spot in the historic city center quarters of Helsinki. Designed by the renowned architect Carl Ludvig Engel, it serves as an allegory of political, religious, scientific, and commercial powers. At the center of the square stands the statue of Emperor Alexander II. As a modern touch, the square features a sound installation called the Sound of the Senate Square - a contemporary version of the European glockenspiel.

Tip! Senate Square is also a departure point of Helsinki Hop On-Hop Off bus . The first tour of the day starts at 10 am in the morning and the buses run every 30-40 minutes daily May-September. The last tour ends at the Senate Square at 17:30, just in time for the Sound of the Senate Square sound installation which plays at 17:49.

3. Architectural Helsinki must visit attraction: Helsinki Central Library Oodi

Located right next to the Helsinki main railway station, on Kansalaistori square, Oodi serves as a living meeting place, welcoming residents and visitors alike to explore its services, books, and creative spaces.

The Oodi building features glass and steel structures alongside a warm wooden facade. This remarkable building is definitely on the top list of must see things in Helsinki. Oodi was designed by ALA Architects. Their vision was to create a public, open-to-everyone, safe, and free-of-charge city space in the heart of Helsinki. Oodi stands as an impressive calling card for Finnish architecture, combining traditional and contemporary elements.

4. Museums of contemporary art: Kiasma and Amos Rex

Helsinki is home to many interesting museums. The Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art , situated just a few steps away from Oodi in the city center of Helsinki, is a vibrant hub for contemporary art and one of the must see things in Helsinki.

Kiasma hosts a dynamic range of exhibitions, featuring both established and emerging artists. From thought-provoking installations to multimedia masterpieces, there’s something for every art enthusiast. Kiasma is also a major architectural destination, designed by American architect Steven Holl.

Another cultural gem of contemporary art is Amos Rex, a relatively new hub for art enthusiasts. From thought-provoking installations to multimedia masterpieces, there’s something for every art lover.

Amos Rex Museum’s fascinating architecture is designed by Finnish architects JKMM Architects. Most of the exhibition spaces are located underground. The roof consists of a series of domes and mounds that emerge from the ground - the domes are already part of the iconic Helsinki views that you want to see when visiting Helsinki!

Tip! Helsinki Hop On-Hop Off bus stop no 13 is located just between Kiasma and Amos Rex, so you can easily combine a visit to the museums with a sightseeing bus tour.

5. Historical Old Market Hall

The Old Market Hall stands as a testament to Helsinki’s rich culinary heritage. Nestled by the Helsinki Market Square, this iconic market hall has been serving customers since 1889. Here you can delve into the flavors, history, and charm of this beloved landmark.

Step inside the Old Market Hall, and you’ll be greeted by an array of enticing aromas. The market vendors offer an exquisite selection of cheeses, fish and shellfish, vegetables and fruits, spices, coffee, and tea. There are also cozy cafes and lunch places in the hall.

6. Allas Sea Pool is one of the top 10 things to do in Helsinki

Allas Sea Pool is an urban seaside pool complex where you can swim, sauna, and enjoy sea views. It’s a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.

Here you can try out the Finnish national hobby, the sauna. You can do as the Finns do and combine a hot sauna with a swim in the natural water. In winter it is naturally icy. The combination is healthy, relaxing and unforgettable. It's quite a sight to walk by in the middle of a cold winter and see Finns running out into the freezing cold air in their bathing suits.

Tip! Would you like to learn more about the Finnish sauna culture? Read more on our Practical information site where you can find not only the Sauna Master Class but also other useful tips & tricks for how best enjoy your stay in Helsinki!

7. For shopping lovers: Stockmann Department Store

Stockmann is definitely one of Helsinki must visit places. It’s Northern Europe’s largest department store, founded in 1862. Stockmann’s Flagship Store in Helsinki is located on Aleksanterinkatu street, in the heart of the centre, offering an impressive 50,000 square metres of shopping space spread across ten floors. Whether you’re looking for the latest fashion trends, trendy cosmetics, world-famous Finnish design, souvenirs, or much more, Stockmann has it all.

8. Charming cafés of Helsinki

Helsinki is a city that embraces both tradition and modernity. Its café culture is no exception. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just looking for a cosy place to unwind, Helsinki’s cafés have something to please your taste buds and aesthetics.

The Iconic Café Ekberg is a Helsinki must visit. It holds a special place in Helsinki’s heart. As Finland’s oldest bakery, patisserie, and café, it has been serving locals and visitors since 1852. Located on the atmospheric Boulevard, Café Ekberg invites you to step back in time and enjoy delicious delicacies in a cosy atmosphere.

Tip! Enjoy your coffee moment of the day on our Beautiful Canal Cruise . You can take in Helsinki's beautiful seascapes and enjoy the sweet and salty delicacies of the onboard cafe-bar at the same time. How about a Finnish afternoon treat: coffee with korvapuusti (sweet cinnamon and sugar filled bun)?

9. The green oasis of the city: Esplanade Park

Esplanade Park has been a central gathering place since the mid-19th century. Designed by Helsinki’s chief architect Carl Ludvig Engel, it invites both locals and visitors to enjoy its tranquil beauty, cultural events, and café life.

Whether you’re looking for a moment of peace, a taste of history, or simply a sunny spot for a picnic, Esplanade Park welcomes you. As you sip your coffee under the leafy trees, remember that this green oasis has witnessed generations of Helsinki life.

If you visit Helsinki during the Holiday season in December and beginning of January, don't forget to go and check the wonderful Christmas light decorations in Esplanade Park!

10. What are the must sees in Helsinki for families?

Two of the most beloved family attractions in Helsinki are Linnanmäki Amusement Park and Korkeasaari Zoo.

Linnanmäki, established in 1950, holds a special place in the hearts of all Finns. Operated by the Children’s Day Foundation, this amusement park combines fun with a noble cause. For decades, it has maintained and developed Linnanmäki to raise funds for Finnish child welfare work.

Korkeasaari Zoo is a unique gem located on an island in the Baltic Sea, just a short distance from Helsinki’s city center. Established in 1889, it’s one of the world’s oldest zoos. Korkeasaari is home to over 150 animal species. From majestic Amur tigers to tiny pygmy marmosets, you'll meet creatures from all over the world.

Tip! Linnanmäki Amusement Park is one of the stops of Hop On-Hop Off bus tour, so combining these two, a bus tour and an amusement park, makes your holiday day fun for the whole family. And don’t forget to show your Helsinki Card at the entrance to Korkeasaari Zoo: adults get a €2 discount off the entrance fee and children get a €1 discount.

Novak Djokovic (L) and Coco Gauff will likely compete at the 2024 U.S. Open.

Tennis season is picking back up.

From now until June 9, the French Open is in full swing at Paris’ Roland Garros Stadium. After that, Wimbledon slices into the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in early July.

However, New York-based tennis fans have likely blocked out Aug. 26 through Sept. 8 on their calendars. On those 14 days, the U.S. Open returns to Flushing’s Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium, and Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre for two weeks of high-level racket play.

While we don’t who will be competing this year — although it’s likely big names like Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Świątek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Coco Gauff should be on the iconic blue and green Queens courts — we do know that tickets for all matches can be picked up as soon as today.

Some are reasonably priced as of now, too.

At the time of publication, we found tickets going for as low as $71 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other matches start anywhere from $77 to $370 before fees.

Can’t wait to see the game’s most talented athletes all in one place?

U.S. Open 2024 tickets

The U.S. Open officially kicks off on Monday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m.

Once the first serve lands, the U.S. Open will last two weeks stretching until the Finals on  Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m.

In between, there are  44 more huge matches that are all available to purchase on Vivid Seats as of today.

Biggies you won’t want to miss include the Men’s Final , Women’s Final , Men’s Semifinal and Women’s Double Final .

The 5 best nyc dinner cruises for food & views.

These dinner cruises provide some of the best views of Manhattan.

The Best NYC Dinner Cruises

When you're strolling the streets of Manhattan, it can be difficult to grasp the magnitude of the city, with its skyscrapers and densely packed landmarks. The solution? A boat ride. A breezy sail in New York Harbor can feature everything from an elegant dinner to a live jazz band to tacos and tequila. Read on to discover the top-rated New York City dinner cruise options as determined by travel expert opinion and recent reviews.

City Cruises New York Bateaux Premier Dinner Cruise

Price: From $144 Duration: 3 hours Standout perk: This all-glass boat delivers panoramic skyline views.

Climbing aboard the Bateaux feels like stepping into a greenhouse, with its glass-enclosed structure and water views in every direction. There are no bad seats on this boat, but as an upgrade you can reserve a window table for the best views of the Hudson River, the East River and the New York Harbor. This cruise is a match for anyone seeking elegance: The tables are covered in crisp white cloths, wine and cocktails are served in sparkling glasses, and a three-course a la carte dinner is served at a relaxed pace (no buffet here).

The Bateaux cruise is an experience to get dressed up for, where the dress code is semi-formal and dinner is accompanied by live music. The sunset can provide the perfect backdrop for pictures, and don't forget to snap a shot of the Statue of Liberty . Children younger than 6 are not permitted on this cruise, so expect a polished, for-adults atmosphere complete with creative cocktails and dancing under the stars. The Bateaux has rightfully earned a reputation for its fresh food; this three-course, plated menu includes several tempting a la carte options from a ravioli starter with crispy pancetta to osso bucco with cauliflower polenta.

City Cruises New York Signature Dinner Cruise

Price: From $109 Duration: 2.5 hours Standout perk: A live DJ gives this dinner cruise an extra dose of atmosphere.

Looking for a casual night of dining and dancing with the addition of a skyline backdrop? This dinner cruise offers just that. Set sail from Chelsea Piers in a climate-controlled boat along the Hudson and East rivers, admiring New York City landmarks like the Empire State Building . For dinner, indulge in a chef-prepared buffet with a wide range of options from Greek salad to oven-roasted salmon with miso to Caribbean jerk braised pork. If you're bringing a sweet tooth on board, be sure to check out the ample dessert station.

After snapping some pictures on the open-air deck, return to the cabin for cocktails from the cash bar, interactive games and upbeat music from the onboard DJ.

Those traveling with young kids will be pleased to know that infants younger than 3 cruise free – so feel free to bring your little ones along to enjoy the experience with you.

La Barca Cantina

La Barca Cantina dinner cruise with lights on boat at night.

Price: Varies Duration: 2 hours Standout perk: You'll find an extensive tequila and mezcal list on board to accompany the Mexican fare.

One criticism of New York dinner cruises is that they don't offer good value for money, but the "taco boat" challenges that critique with ceviche, tacos, churros, cocktails and skyline views for an affordable price. Climb aboard a yacht at Pier 81 to experience a youthful, modern interpretation of a dinner cruise – think: low lighting, couches for lounging and three bars, complete with Latin pop, salsa and dance music playing in the background. Raise a glass while the yacht sails south on the Hudson River to check out world-famous Manhattan skyline views.

La Barca Cantina also offers a bottomless brunch cruise with a DJ, as well as special events.

Classic Harbor Line NYC Evening Jazz Cruise

Live jazz trio performing for the Classic Harbor Line NYC Evening Jazz Cruise on the Manhattan II yacht in the summer.

Courtesy of Classic Harbor Line

Price: From $108 Duration: 1.5 hours Standout perk: A jazz trio typically featuring a sax, keyboard and drums plays live on board.

Listen to jazz standards aboard a 1920s-style yacht with this fun sightseeing cruise departing from Pier 62 in Chelsea Piers. Choose between kicking back in the climate-controlled cabin or on the open-air deck throughout this evening cruise, which includes views of Manhattan landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Live music is played outside on the deck or inside the salon, depending on the season (and the boat, Manhattan or Manhattan II).

While this cruise doesn't offer dinner, one complimentary alcoholic beverage is included, and a cash bar offers additional drinks and snacks. Listen to music by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and more as you sail past the twinkling Manhattan skyline. Those traveling in a group should keep in mind: Tickets are slightly discounted for groups of 4 to 16.

Circle Line New York City Harbor Lights Cruise

Circle Line's Harbor Lights cruise at night with New York City buildings in the background.

Courtesy of Circle Line

Price: From $54 Duration: 2 hours Standout perk: This no-fuss, excellent-value cruise option has drinks and snacks available for purchase on board.

When you're craving panoramic views rather than a three-course meal, choose the Circle Line's Harbor Lights cruise departing from Pier 83. This sightseeing sailing delivers an up-close experience of the Manhattan skyline lights coming to life, while cruising past landmarks including the Brooklyn Bridge and the Chrysler Building . A live guide provides narration and historical context for what you're seeing. As the sun sets behind New Jersey, watch the glow of the sinking sun reflect in the windows of skyscrapers.

Food from the onboard cafe – like salads, sandwiches and snacks – as well as beer, wine and cocktails at the bar are available for purchase. This is an ideal situation for groups with varying levels of hunger and thirst. Sit alfresco in the breeze or indoors in the climate-controlled cabin – it's up to you.

Non-English-speaking guests can download the Circle Line app for narration available in several languages; just be sure to bring your own headset.
